    FUCK YEAH
    >> Anonymous 09/28/09(Mon)06:27 No.6045795
I'm bored and currently a little pissed off, so I wrotefag this for my own sake. Ignore as you wish.

The gentle chirp of chitinous plates dragged across one another was the only sound that echoed in the small building. Whereas many races had buildings of leisure - taverns, vid-centers, parks - for the Ghali, beings of discipline, duty and sacrifice, there was only the story hut. No longer a hut and with the ritual animal pelts that decorated its walls not the product of the hunters who inhabited it, but the designers who crafted it as they had always been crafted. Two dozen Ghali sat cross-legged surrounding their elder, for this is how they learned. Not with books or lessons, but with wisdom passed from the aged. This was a lesson the elder would have to teach many times that day, for the story hut was always packed when he announced he would tell of why the Ghali never warred with the humans.

"We are not a peaceful people. We breed quickly, and for that purpose we wage war with each other. The strong survive, the weak perish, and our race is both made more powerful and does not risk overpopulation that plagues so many species throughout the skies. Our warlike ways must be brought into check with interacting with them, for many species would happily see us eradicated to remove our threat. I am not entirely convinced they are wrong in their thought."

"Sometimes though, our drive to battle grows stronger then our voice of wisdom, and we build. We build until we have enough ships to carry our soldiers to the stars. Sometimes we are able to turn our drive to battle towards the elements themselves and we land on planets labelled 'inhospitable' by others. Through our knowledge and our strength we battle nature itself - beasts the size of a dozen battlescarabs, rivers of lava that take up more of the planet then the earth itself - and we win. But this time we did not, we aimed our ships at a burgeoning race appearing near us, the Humans."

"We struck without warning. Many species battle with weapons of energy or explosive, but we Ghali have always fought face to face with the foe, and so there our ingenuity lies. Energy shields that can bring us within grasp of the enemy, blades of light that can slice any foe in two. We hit the human world of Pacific with all our force, knowing it was where many human factories and military camps lay. We knew the entirity of their fleets would be there, and we could crush their ability to defend themselves from our advance totally if we destroyed this world!"

"We emerged near their world and saw their fleet. Barely a fraction of our own, and in our hour long advance on their planet we watched as ships scrambled from the surface to the dock and back, and communication signals lit up the depths of space. We laughed as they turned and fled, abandoning their planetary dock. It's stationary guns fired into our ranks and some ships fell, but our boarding parties took it without trouble. It was then we should have known something was wrong. They had evacuated the dock of all but a handful of crew, and we found out later the ships from the planet to the dock had brought as many civilian refugees as it could hold, and... well, you'll find out later."

"Our landing ships disembarked our entire armies onto the planet. We numbered in the hundreds of millions, and we knew the humans armies were a bare five million strong. As we disembarked we laughed again, the cowards did not even meet us in the field. Scouts were sent out and only recorded contacts in one direction, so we marched."

"We faced scattered regiments barely several hundred strong, dug in to entrenched positions. Looking back, knowing those men knew they would not leave that position alive, I honour them. Our energy shields are powerful, but the human tactics were impressive. Overlapping fields of fire, and defensive positions laced with traps and natural obstacles. Every time we faced a hundred humans, we sent three hundred of our kind to crush them, and barely half would make it back. For two days we marched, our progress delayed by snipers, traps and defensive formations. But it barely put a dent in our numbers. Then again, it wasn't meant to."

"Finally, we found what we figured the humans were protecting. A defensive line had been formed on the opposite sides of one of the plains of the planet, their left flank protected by a canyon, their right flank by a mountain. We should have known something was wrong, but we were too confident by then. We arrayed ourselves for battle, chanting our war songs and screaming for blood. Within an hour we believed we had shaken the humans enough and charged."

"They held the line. No matter what we threw at them they held the line. Their forward positions monitored our tactics and transmitted back their data, so every trick we had, they knew how to counter. Those men had given their lives so their fellows had a chance. And, of course, time."

"Why do I specify time? Simple, fellow Ghali. It was a trap. Our entire forces were arrayed on this plain against their defensive formation. A kilometer long, we never considered the idea of flanking them - we meet our enemies head on - or of trying to land troops elsewhere. We are the best because we face our foe where they are strongest, and beat them there. Or so we thought. It was four hours into the fight, a brief respite from the battle, when word came out. 'Scatter. It is falling.'"

"We looked up and there it was. The planetary dock. They had built it, they knew where to hide soldiers. An entire regiment crushed the rearguard we left on the dock. They spent the first day monitoring our procedures, then they wiped out our warriors and sabotaged the dock's orbit. It was crashing on the opposite side of our warriors to the human defensive lines, if we fled that way, we would not make it, but before the orders could be given we were thrown into dissarray. Artillery they had kept in reserve the entire time fired powerful shells into our ranks, pre-planted explosives detonated in our ranks - we had marched over them the entire time and never even looked. Our soldiers panicked and fled the human lines... they could not outrun the falling orbital dock. The humans merely retreated into pre-prepared underground bunkers to protect them from the shockwave."

"Pray you never see a dock crashing into a planet. Of our hundreds of millions of soldiers, our initial casualties against the humans were dear, but not unsustainable. After the dock crashed, we numbered a handful ten million. I myself was lucky, debris that had ripped off the dock knocked me out and I ended up covered by an armor plate, so I survived the blast and the shockwave. When I came too I became aware that I was choking in the dust thrown up by the blast, the air was so clogged in it. I resigned myself to death, not even able to process what the humans had done. Then I heard a scratching."

"At first I feared it was local wildlife scavenging for food, then I realised surely none could survive that blast. If the Ghali still lived they would never return to look for survivors, that is not our way. Finally, a plasma drill began cutting through the armour that had saved me. Then I saw my rescuers."
    >> Anonymous 09/28/09(Mon)06:30 No.6045822
    >>6045819
"Humans. Masks covering their faces to protect them from the dust, they handed me an oxygen mask - perfect ratio of gasses for our species - and helped me out. The scene I saw was horrific. The sun was only barely visible in the sky above there was so much dust. We were surrounded by fires that still burnt, but still the humans cut through armour plating where their bio-scanners detected us. I was manacled and led to a transport, taken into atmosphere where one of the humans ships that had previously fled waited. It was there that I found that the humans had used their ships to evacuate all the civilians they could, then they returned with reinforcements and drove our fleet back in a surprise attack. Our fleets main strength is our boarding parties, with all our soldiers on the ground they were no match."

"I again found myself resigned to my fate, manacled in the hull of one of their ships. I expected nothing less then experiments to find our weaknesses - everyone had heard of the humans insatiable curiousity - or maybe held for ransom, a ransom the Ghali would never pay. How surprised was I when a human came down and, through the translator, told us we were to be returned to Ghaliath and released. None of us spoke at first, then one of our warriors asked why. I will never forget what the human said."

"'Despite what some may think, we are not a war-like species. We simply do what we must. To defeat you, we needed to sacrifice Pacific, so we did. That planet's ecosystem will never return to normal, we may as well abandon it now. We could kill your soldiers in reprisal, but... we are tired. We like to think we are a good people, and we will prove that to ourselves by returning you to your planet."

"But, make no mistake, we are humans, we don't do what is right, or just, or to our greatest benefit at the expense of all others. We simply do what is necessary. If you come for us again, imagine what we will believe is necessary then.'"

"And so, we were returned. Those few of us who remained became known as 'The Peaceful'. The only among the Ghali who would say 'no' to war. It reminds us too much of Pacific, the barren world."

Listen, listen l-isten. See, Terrans don't actually wage wars. Their home planet's not even sub-space capable! Trust me, I've been there.

See, in the speeches, you might've seen humans. Medium sized bipeds, sorta hairless? small eyes? Bright colored uniforms?

See,that's how we knew they were on ta' somethin'. No matter what, most standing fightin' forces in the galaxy got some sorta standard uniform.

The business in the Alpha Centauri system started it all. See, the system'd recently been paid a visit by Technodrones.

    Oh yeah, they're real.

Anyway, Technodrones are about 'ta convert the star into raw materials, the whole dang Fiefdom's up in arms about it, and "Whoomp" Humans drop right out of subspace in a junkheap with no engines and barely any life support. The human ship, lands on the Technosphere, and about 10 of 'em get out wearing hazard suits!

Apparently, one of the humans pushed the slag lightyears from their planet with 'is manipu- "hands." Turns out, every one of 'em's a Stellar! Tha's right. Stellars. Lifting capacities of Neutron Tugs, calculators for brains, and even some dimensional sorcery!

Turns out, they've been fiddlin around with atomic technology, Elder entities, and you names it since the dawn of their stone age!

Yeah, so, the Stellar humans, proceed to whomp an' bomp and slam the ever loving slag out of the Technosphere, and hurl the rest of the drones into the star.

Their later wars against the Technodrones, Bivalve races, and even the Kingdoms showed that the human's one world had three times the recorded Stellars in galactic history!

Still, didn't stop us from takin' out the one with the pointy auditories. Who'da thunk they'd just come right off like that?

Anyway, most of 'em are some sort of pirates or something. Apparently they eat music? bah, i'm not really sure.

I like being human, we’ve got a rep for being huge hulking nasty pieces of work and we fucking use it, all out lads in the forces just do their jobs, and do them well, but its us merchants and colonist that tell the stories, and one up the all those tales the xenos tell.
I’m a just a merchant, and a bloody successful one too, when I’m bartering at the port of trade at Demomate, all I have to do to get a good deal is to slap the table, puff up my chest and yell a bit and most xenos traders back down, and I walk away with a winning deal. Of course if they don’t back down and have a go at you or call your bluff you sometimes have to give them a bit of a seeing to, maybe even use a bit of fire, or a perhaps a bit of a love tap with a lump hammer, but all in all we run with the reputation we have.

    Its good for business

Humans are an unusual species, they care for their poor, and hungry, they care for other races poor and hungry, they care for the poor and hungry they create through their endless warring. I am beginning to think all they war for is just to get more poor and hungry to care for.

Ive given up trying to understand themsince after the war, what would be the point? All of us that are left are living much better than we once did, true, we number less than ten thousand, but me and mine wont cause any trouble, as long as we get our food stamps.

Humans were once considered weak, oily, and stringy creatures, hardly worth our contempt, now they are our masters and sentenced us to a living hell
We were once called the Feras,
twice a year, we lay our eggs in the many expansive deserts of our planet, we have been doing this since no one can remember, our young lie under the hot sands gestating, until 8 months later they hatch and they crawl back to the mountains and into our educators arms, but over the last twenty years we’ve noticed less and less young returning form the dessert. Now only barely 1 in 100 made it back.
    The problem?
Humans! Apparently humans eat Eggs! One of them found some of our eggs whilst navigating our desert and found them to their taste. Humans had been entering the dessert at night and harvesting our eggs for some barbaric ritual called break-fast, and they do this breakfast every day!
And to make matters worse, they have depleted our population to such an extent that we can not fight them,
But they keep us alive and breeding to supply them with our eggs, and that small handful that are not harvested, go on to breed and survive, we are farmed by the humans, we give them most of our young and the rest of us survive. We were once known as the Feras, now to the humans and to ourselves we are known by a new name “The Cattle”

fuck if there was an alien that shat gold, how long would it take to either destroy them to protect the value of OUR gold, or put a chain around its neck, and concider it a living mine? you could probally count the time it would take in seconds

I walked down the dark alley way as quickly as I could, I knew this was a dangerous district, rumours of a monstrous four legged killer on the streets had had the local law Enforcement out and about, more patrols meant I had to be twice as cautious as before, I had a deal to do and a payment to collect, and I could not afford another brush with the local law enforces. I just wouldn’t survive the kicking.
A patrol tank slowly broke into the view at the alley mouth, cruising down the street. It light scanning the alleyway I was in. I ducked into the shadows. I sat down to time the patrol circuit, I would need to know it if I had to make a quick escape if the deal went south. I had 13grams of grade A human adrenaline, and 16 slides of human xenos porn of the sort Interpol and the reprogram police would be very interested to question me just for carrying it, the painful kind of questioning.
Humans weren’t banned form this place but anything human made was, and therefore worth a fortune, last week I smuggled in a can of something called Cokealola or something, 13 Mil for a can the size of your arm. I don’t know what you do with it, and I don’t ask, I just deliver and collect payment. I’m the best at collecting payment, which can some times be tricky in the groups I deal with.
The tank cruised past again. 12 min 13 cec 122pc: a short circuit but easy to avoid.
I left the alley way for the rendezvous in the building across the road.

It was dark behind the door, as it closed behind me; I could just make out the outline of my contact, something was wrong here, there was no movement, and something else I coulden’t put my finger on. Strange…I saw the money case, I moved towards the customer and immediately froze.
A growl so demonic I nearly lost the control of my bowels, a deep horrible sound of a natural predator. I froze only just registering the scent assailing my nostrils, blood. And a lot of it. I looked at my contact, his dark outline becoming more detailed as my eyes grew accustomed to the gloom, neck torn out, and slumped in the chair. I was dead, the monster was here. I was dead. I was it approach me, yellow eyed, covered in hair a long nose covered in blood. Its growl intensified it eyes promising no mercy, is hunched down to pounce. I closed my eyes.

    “FRANK, SIT!”

A booming Voice came out of the back of the room, the monster immediately sat on its haunches but its eyes never left me. Then the real monster came out of the dark.
A full grown male human! twice as tall as me eight times the weight. It strode up the hairy monster and patted its head, like it didn’t have the blood of a fresh victim on its mouth, the monster smiled at the smaller one “ good dog” he said the smaller monster looked up like the human it was a god.
What had I gotten myself into? I lost control of myself, I slumped to the floor, shaking. I was so scared I couldn’t think, first I thought I was going to die, but now a human was here and if there’s one thing worse than death is being in the hands of a human.

He picked me up in his hands, kicked the body off the chair and plonked me down on the bloody seat.

He said, “I've been looking for it for the last two weeks, had to do some nasty things to some nasty people to find this place at this time” he said with a deep rumble
“And you…” He looked right at me.
“The slides, give them to me”
I handed them over with out thinking, the adrenalin too.
He dropped the adrenalin to the floor without a second glance, took the slides counted them, and looked through them and smiled, his huge square teeth seemed massive and intimidating in that small room.
“Pics from me wedding night” he said,
“The missus has been pitching a fit since they were stolen”
And with that he and his horrible beast left the building.
I must have sat there for an hour covered in the blood of my contact, by the time I came to my senses it was nearly dawn I picked up the adrenalin, and the payment and legged it back to my hideout.
Meeting the human and his pet monster changed me, I sold the adrenalin, and moved off world, and I kept moving, the further away form humans the better, I hope to never meet another.

The commander wheezed slightly, his bionics hissing and pumping as he shifted in his seat. Cold, glinting eyes that were more machine than flesh surveyed the fresh-faced troops in front of him, his reptilian tongue flicking out over his lips.

A clawed hand rose up, adjusting his ballistics vest as he looked along the faces of the whelps, some of them barely older than a broodling. They were all of the various races that dwelled on the world- super-evolved, bipedal dinosaurs. Saurians, to be blunt.

'I'm excited.' One of the younger troops hissed with anticipation, his talon adorned foot clicking against the APC floor, his serrated teeth glinting in the low light.

'I want to fight- I want to see what color these monkies bleed.'

The boy- for that was all he was- grinned cockily, his tail slapping against the bench as he looked at the other troopers with him. They all nodded in agreement, voicing what they'd like to do to the 'monkies'- until the commander let out a chuffing hiss, his bionics wheezing with an absurd, 'HEEE HEEE HEE' as he attempted to catch his breath.

    'You won't do shit.'

The youngster balked, coughing slightly as he slumped in his seat, broken by the scrutiny of the commander's unblinking, flickering eyes.

'We call them monkeys, apes, fleabags, meatbags. Every little word we have for them doesn't do them justice.'

The commander's right foot twitched, the elongated claw on his 'big toe' clicking rapidly as he looked at the soldiers in front of him. His bionics hissed once more, a grin on his face- the right half glinting in the low light.

'We have our castes. We have our different roles. We can dominate them in the land, sea, or air. We're born for it- those of us with wings, those of us with flippers. You understand, don't you? Physically we outclass the humans.'

The one who had spoken first nodded, tongue flicking out of his mouth. The commander shifted, noting that the 'boy' lacked part of his bony head-crest - probably lost in a fight or something silly.

'You have not seen a human assault.'

The commander paused, letting out another wheeze. Again, his bionics let out that tell-tale 'HEE HEEE HEEEE'.

'It's not that they out-gun us, or out-muscle us. It's just that humans are fucking crazy. They're disgusting. Where we fight with tooth and claw and weapon, they do too- but they don't do it as we do.'

The soldiers were all sitting at attention now, their eyes locked on the commander, tails flicking about as he spoke.

'If I challenge you to combat you will see me. I will see you. We will fight as we fight, tooth and claw, tasting the blood that we draw, seeing what we inflict. But humans have no idea of that.'

The commander's right hand tapped against his thigh, a short breath leaving him. Again, his bionics wheezed.

'The humans have a technique they call a 'lizard-squisher'. Do you know what the entails?'

The soldiers shook their heads, listening.

'You know how they drop out of orbit? They crash into combat, landing where we least expect it.'

    The soldiers nodded.

'A 'lizard squisher' involves a full unit of their soldiers dropping in directly on your position. They have no aim to act as shocktroopers in this regard, though- their goal is to simply land on whoever they can.'

'I have seen humans dive out of their ships and land on us, like screeching demons from the sky. Seeing a human land on a Saurian almost three feet taller than them is a frightening thing.'

The troops' mouths hung agape, as if they didn't fully understand.

'You heard me. They'll drop out of their ships feet-first and land on whatever saurian they can. Have you seen a armor-skull get stomped into paste by a human?'

    The soldiers shook their heads.

'It's horrible. But it's our fault. We started this, to be honest. They came looking for peace and we 'made a spectacle' of them.'

The commander shifted, tail slapping against the floor as his bionics wheezed once more.

'That's why you don't cut up a human who comes to be your friend. You don't slice him into chunks and then send him back because you 'Think you're better'. Do you know why?'

The soldiers shook their heads, waiting.

'Because the humans will prove to you, one way or another, that you are nothing more than a stain on their boot. Even if it entails dropping out of orbit to land on your skull.'

The commander shifted in his seat, teeth clicking as he looked across the faces of the greenhorns. Maybe it -wasn't- the best idea to scare them like that. Oh well.

'So remember. If you hear the screaming and smell sulfur, run.'

The troops nodded. The one with the broken crest shifted in his seat as the APC stopped, the doors opening slowly, light filtering in. They disembarked, staying low to the ground- after all, this was a covert mission!

And then the screaming started. That high-pitched screech, accompanied by the smell of sulphur. The crestless soldier looked skyward, his eyes going wide as the heavy, metal-plated boots of a human assault trooper planted themselves firmly in his face, accompanied by a cry of 'OOOH YEAAAAH.'

The sheer force of the impact was the worst part, really- the boy was slammed into the ground as the majority of his bones shattered in his body, his head splattering into a bloody pulp as more of the heavily armored humans did their best land near or on their quarry.

and now i'm bored so I'm gonna play some BLOODBOWl.

It is said that the Humans are both the shining hope and the potential destroyer of this sector. Aside from a different palette of colours, rounded ears and shorter lives, they are not at all that dissimilar from us. As you know our exploratory fleet encountered their species on the far side of our empire not more than twenty cycles ago, except for a small research outpost on their moon their kind was confined to their homeworld, Earth. As we monitored their communications and explored their world with our probes, we grew ever more curious as to the origin of these Humans. We made first contact, perhaps looking back, it was too hasty, but at the time we could not contain our enthusiasm at what we had found.

Revealing ourselves caused great upheaval in their society, they had discovered they were no longer alone. They had looked up to the stars for centuries, but disappointment after disappointment had made them turn their gaze inwards. They squabbled for a long time, these, now what was the word, nations, ah yes, nations of theirs made it difficult to communicate. However eventually they managed to present a unified front to which we could direct ourselves. We carefully explained that the similarities between our kind and theirs could not be a coincidence and proposed a simple exchange of cultural and biological data in order to solve this mystery. They were weary of our proposal, a species who had always expected the worst from each other would not trust an outsider that easily either. They demanded we also provide them with technology for travel between the stars and defences against the threats that might lurk there. We flatly refused as is policy, but their response was the strangest thing, I remember this well, for I was there... their representative simply shrugged, giving us a soft smile before fully agreeing to our original terms. It was perhaps the most alien I had ever seen them.

    >>6049683
We learned a great deal about each other's history and heritage, these Humans are compared to the entirety of our empire exceptionally diverse and yet they still manage to cooperate on a level that one would not expect in such a situation. Their ways are eerily familiar, but they display extremes that seem beyond what some would call sanity, yet instead of diminishing them it seems to strengthen them. As time passed and the exchanges grew fewer as we got no further to answering the questions originally posed, we were allowed to build an embassy on their moon as a sign of good will. From there we observed them reach for the stars again, their moon base grew into a full fledged colony of thousands within cycles of our arrival and they expanded onto the other worlds in their system within cycles after that. I remain astonished at their rapid advancement, it was as if we had awoken a sleeping giant.

This is why I stand before the council now, we all know that we can not ignore them or let them continue on their own. They are receptive to us now, but this will change if we do nothing. We must reach out, learn to better understand our similarities and differences so that we can grow into a stronger whole together as we harness each other's strength. I know some of you would seek to destroy them for the potential threat they represent, however if we act now, we can bring them under our wing. A species as vibrant as theirs could change the face of this galaxy, allying ourselves with them may be the surest way to ensure our survival in this ever hostile universe.

Thats nice, a definitive change of pace of the former stories.

Although its not clearly determined why we are a threat to them, or why would some of them go to such an extent of consider extermination. But whatever the stuff is rather good. It sounds like a nice "prequel" of a former story that was posted in one of the other threads about an alien despising how another race that is so unlike us (they are a peacefull psychic race that abors violence) get along with us so well (we are like the Space Orks of the setting).

"Humanity fuck yea" Threads USED to be fun, and interesting. They were genuinely thought provoking affairs where people theorised how humanity could be worked into a sci-fi setting as something other than the enthusiastic but technologically backwards upstarts.

Now? They're just excuses to circlejerk over childish ideas of mankind grinding every alien race he came across under his iron heel.

Tripfags destroying threads is normally something I hate, but frankly in this case, nothing of value is lost.

Excerpt from the transcript of a lecture given by Yaktra Tal Seyv Yunga
Imperial Date 9.7.1873, Neysa Ven, Tuina
“History of the Galaxy” Lecture 7- “Lessons from Humanity”

Humanity learned two lessons in their youth, the first came sometime in the local 2nd AnteImperial [century] and it took nearly two centuries before it sank it.

They were alone, utterly and completely. They heard no chatter from the stars; space was not simply a new frontier with strange alien peoples to vie against, it was a vast emptiness filled with only inanimate matter.

What would this do to a people?

We know. It fractured them, turned them against one another even as our own peoples banded together to meet these new possible threats. The only way to fill such a vast emptiness, to combat that uncaring void, was to fill it with oneself and to do this they had to be fractured. Infighting ensued, which spurred great exoduses to distant stars much like our own peoples experienced, except that these were not cautious expeditions to new lands meant to secure a people against outside threats but rather they were violent thrusts to unknown lands.
    >> WritefagAnon 09/28/09(Mon)16:49 No.6050568
Expansion continued in this way for several centuries, until approximately 9th [century] Imperial when humanity first heard voices other than its own. The teis were, as best as we can determine from the limited data that humanity has released to the galaxy at large, what they called a ‘reptilian’ species. I shall leave it to other lessons and your texts to explain more in detail.

Suffice it to say that the teis were about to teach humanity its second lesson.

First contact was not a peaceful event. The teis, or at least a faction of them, decided to take a newly established human world. In the following [Standard Imperial Year]s they took a few more, adding a small outcropping to their already substantial holdings. When the information eventually trickled back to the rest of human space it galvanized them in a way nothing else ever had; they were not alone, but the world was not filled with civilized creatures but rather slavering creatures ready to swallow worlds whole into their ever-growing maws.

Teis occupation of human worlds lasted but a scant [50 Standard Imperial Years]. Humanity fell upon them with the wrath of gods. Within a [century], humanity had wiped out every last remaining teis, or did enough damage that they could never recover. Even those unaligned with the original faction were gone.

Genocide. The reality became apparent to most.
    >> WritefagAnon 09/28/09(Mon)16:50 No.6050574
What they had done shocked them. From this emerged the peculiar state of chaos and unity that we today identify as The Thousand Worlds of Humanity. Even the Empire existed then, though it was more powerful or looking to become so.

The second lesson was this; unity too is dangerous.

During the next few weeks we will begin to explore humanity’s history, and what impact they and it will have and have had on the galaxy.

Now I will begin taking some questions…

Okay, I don't give a shit about these threads, one way or another. But every time there has been a thread about something every day, day after day, anon has turned against it. Oversaturation will just result in more people getting pissed off, and your threads trolled/hijacked into oblivion.

Well, let's think about this for a second. What, in particular, could make humanity such a special race in any given setting? Since these threads seem to be about science-fiction stories instead of fantasy, it's readily assumed that most of the major parties have not only made it into space but have developed interstellar travel--some of the better tidbits of writefaggotry even mention superluminous drives.
So, taking this into account, I find it highly suspect that any race could have a physical advantage over another that genetic engineering or biometric modifications couldn't equalize.
It has also been repeatedly brought up that certain traits: curiosity and a desire to explore and learn, a given level of competitiveness and aggression, and the impulse to protect one's relations and tribe/country/whatthehelleverfuturisticequivalent-mates would all be requisite in any sentient species that had advanced into the stars without wiping itself out.
So what does that leave anyone in terms of differentiation?

“Oh, Oh god, you want believe what I just heard from a buddy of mine, this is great, you won’t believe it.”

    “hmm?”

“Those Grek-nel bastards are going to surrender to the Humans at the council today.”

    “Humans?

    “Yeah, that new council race”

    “The pink bipedals from Sol?”

“Well some of ‘em are different colors but yeah that’s them”

“Didn’t know they were at war with the Greks, I really am out of the loop, and to have won against those assholes already, good for them.”

“That’s the great part, they weren’t at war, ya know how every time a new race becomes acknowledged, invited to the council and taken off the protection list. And how the Grek-nel just sweep over and demand tribute or they will use their nasty little bioweapon.”

“Oh don’t get me started on their death beetles, they let some lose on Tavrin 4, they breed to fast to get rid of easy, and they’re too small to notice till its already an infestation. And their poisonous. Nearly impossible to get rid of without killing everything else in the area, we had to burn half the fields before harvest time, and we’re still not sure if they got out of the quarantine area.”

“Exactly, so the Greks stroll right up to Earth, that’s the human’s prime planet, and transmit the info on their death beetles to some random military institute. Well the humans there tell them “We’re not the ones in charge of that” and they should talk to this other place and gives the coordinates. So they transmit to the next site, It’s a science building, they thought the Greks where sharing information, and started sending some back. Turns out earth is positively covered with shit that makes the death beetles look tame, they got versions that FLY. Its insane. Greks get up and leave fast as they could.”

“Wait, they got lots of em?”

“Yeah, its freaky, from what I hear only place with more hostile bugs is Telltra, and no one lives their.”

    “That’s messed up”

“Yeah how many species can say their first military victory was achieved without their military.”

"THIS IS A SCORPION. We are uncertain as to its origins, but suspect that it was genetically engineered by the Terran hominids to act as some sort of biological weapon. Pictures we stole from their exonet suggest that at one time, there were prototypes many dozens of times this size, which were euthanized when they were found to be impractical.
If you encounter a scorpion, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO COMMUNICATE. Scorpions are not sentient, they are soulless monsters that live only to kill and maim! Blaster power-level 4 and above is recommended, but field testing has proven impossible since the council No-kayed a science mission after the Hornet incident.

    "Humans? Yes, I know humans."

The Old-Father shifted slightly, moving His great bulk to a more comfortable position. His Younglings, some still white with baby fur, pushed close around Him, finding comfort and warmth in the great folds of His skin. It was the Ice Season, and the whole world was laminated in frost and snow. The faint hum of an electric generator emerged from somewhere in the back of the burrow, its power illuminating and heating the tunnels with a wondrous, mystic power. It was being maintained by one of the Chitin-Folk that was studying the Old-Father and His Herd.

"It was many, many years ago that I..." the Old-Father hummed slightly, the warm sound resonating from deep within His tremendous chest, "...I met the humans. They were lost..." His Younglings chirped slightly, and He realized that they did not know the meaning of the word. "The humans were...not-with-Herd." More confusion, but it was the best He could do.

"They had a great-Herd-sky-mover," His word for 'star-ship,' a not-Herd term, "and it was broken. They grazed here a while, then returned to the stars."

"That's all?" a little Youngling asked, his undeveloped wings fluttering in frustration.

The Old-Father smiled, "Shhh, child, I will tell you more.

"You all know the stories of the Blood-Drinkers, yes? The Wing-Breakers, the Bone-Gnawers, the Ice-Night-Stalkers?" A few frightened squeals. Good. They should not forget. "Humans are of their Path." The squeals grew loud and frantic, and the Younglings burrowed deep into His flesh.

"Shhh, shhhh..." He pacified them with the soothing rumblings of an Old-Father. "They are different, yes? Are we the same as the Mud-Dwellers because we walk their Path? Are the Chitin-Folk so evil because they walk the Path of Flesh? No, children, the humans are not Our hunters.

"But they still walk that Path. The lost humans I met were the best hunters of their kind. They moved quickly and silently, in day and night, and constantly spoke with each other in pictures and silent calls. It is unnerving for them to hear Our hums and coos and calls just as it is strange for Us to see them take their fur on and off and loose violent death from their tools.

"But they seek not to hunt Us, for all their adaption. I have no doubt that a lone human could stalk into this burrow and take Me and you and the Herd for its consumption, without alerting the Herd to its presence. It could unleash its fire and destruction and tear Me up with its hunt. But I have every faith that a human will not do this.

"You wish to know of the Herd's salvation from the Ice-Night-Stalkers? It was humans. A small pack of them, lost and not-with-herd, with a broken great-Herd-sky-mover. We cowered before them as they moved over our burrows, as they searched for signs of the Herd. But the Wing-Breakers were foolish and vain. They stalked the Stalker, they hunted the Hunter, and when they took a lone human, they incurred the wrath of the pack.

"The human pack did not charge blindly after the Ice-Night-Stalkers. They did not cluster and scream as you or I would, they would not seek the safety of the Herd. They are clever. They watched, and waited, and soon discovered signs of the Blood-Drinkers.

"But even then they did not hunt. They retreated to their broken great-Herd-sky-mover. They waited for suns and many moons, waited even as the Ice-Night-Stalkers drew close around them and the Hot Season began to fade to the Ice Season. And then they struck.

"They sent a lone human out to the new-frosts, and We in Our burrows could feel that they followed this lone human, softly and quietly trailing the steps of their pack-member. Soon we could feel the tremors of the Bone-Gnawers as they thundered to the bait, pretending to be not-with-Herd. We sensed scuffles, and great thunder, and heard the fall of dead Ice-Night-Stalker and the screams of Blood-Drinkers and the calls of humans. Thunder like no other children, for the humans unleash their destruction with thunder. I will never forget it.

"The ground grew silent, and the Herd broke a Great Law. I stepped out into the Ice, and looked out across the frost, and saw the ground soaked with the blood of the Ice-Night-Stalkers. Their corpses littered the Ice as far as My eyes could see, and above them stood the humans, tall, triumphant, and yet sad. They bore in their arms the body of the lone human, who gave itself up for the sake of the pack."

He paused for a moment, thinking the Younglings asleep.

    A small chirp. "Then what?"

"They carried their fallen comrade back to their broken mover, and opened the Ice with their small suns to dig deep into the good soil beneath, then left the body there.

"No other act has touched me more, for even as a human will destroy, they will always respect the dignity of that which they hurt. For it is true, We have flourished now that the Ice-Night-Stalkers are dead, but how long before the Herd burrows through every soil, and drinks every spring, and eats every plant and worm? The humans knew that had irreparably damaged Our Home with their vengeance, but they had entrusted one of their pack into Our Great Life.

"I will tell you more of the humans actions with Us, how they learned Our place and told Us of the stars, but for now, I think you are asleep." The Old-Father's eyes crinkled in happiness, and He began to hum softly to protect their dreams. The Ice wailed outside, but within the burrow, their was comfort in the folds of His skin.

Discipline. The greatest weapon of the greatest military the galaxy has ever known. While the Fleets and Legions of Terra are well armed and well equipped, it is their iron discipline which has won them their battles. I have seen it with my own eyes. They may not be the largest, the most advanced, or even the best lead, but they don't have to be.

We had been pursuing a human army for several weeks through the mountains of Gra'Stin'Malah. At the time it seemed like they were trying some futile attempt at escape, but in hindsight they were sowing the seeds of their victory. When they stopped running and decided to fight, we were ready. We were always ready. They had conveniently trapped themselves withing a mountain pass with no means of escape. Little did we know this is what the humans had wanted.

We gathered our forces, a quarter million strong and charged. We were met by torrents of fire from the human side, but still we advanced as we sought to fight the humans hand to hand. The closer we came to the enemy line the more our excitement grew. The Humans would all die this day. When we finally reached the Human line, the enemy's assault troops came forward, clad in their iconic band armor and armed with their shields and spears. Many of our warriors were impaled, but still we sought to get closer. The enemy changed to their heatblades and continued their bloody work. It was becoming increasingly clear that our numbers were working against us. We had become a screaming slavering mass of warriors, but the narrows confines of the pass had prevented us from using all of our numerical superiority. For hours we tried to batter through, but we were held back. In their eyes I saw not fear, but hatred. All the while enemy artillery continued its barrage.

Finally, some of us started to flee and a trickle became a torrent. From being so close to victory we were now fleeing from the field like Hraut grazer from a Jurn. As we fled the Humans cut us down like the cowards we were. I was lucky to escape with one eye intact. Many of my fellow warriors were not as lucky.

The Humans called their victory the Battle of Ruben's pass, named after their victorious leader. We just call it a massacre. The humans claim they only lost 450 men in total. Whether this is true or not I neither know nor care. We started that battle with a quarter of a million men. Only 250 of us made it out alive.

Our rebellion is doomed to fail. With our failure to eliminate their planetary garrison and the arrival of fresh troops from off-world, there is little we can do but hope for a merciful judgement.

Meh, its not that good, but I hope at least its a decent waste of time.

Humans have a weapon they never use in battle, a natural weapon, one their born with, I’m not just talking about their strength or intelligence.
I was at a human kegger, that a bluntly ritualistic gathering that young humans have every week or so to consume, drink, and breathe toxic substances of various leathality.
Anyway, I was at this kegger, watching the humans there get louder, more violent and dangerous, I was starting to get nervous and more than a little scared, when I saw something that drained the blood form my face. One of the younger humans bent over put a flaming match to his gluteal cleft and I shit you not shot fire as he releases his internal gasses! The flame went forward about two feet, I mean as if the humans wern’t dangerous enough, they can naturally shoot fire too.
