What I find troubling with the many points brought out by the saging gentlemen is that proper etiquette and civility is not related to traditional gaming.

This can not be farther from the truth. Because traditional gaming is done through social interaction, and thus social interaction is the very heart of traditional gaming. Without proper communication from the DM to the players, how will a game be conducted and how will fantasy be imagined and stories told? Without the trust and teamwork between the players, how will they overcome obstacles and how can their stories unfold?

In fact, I believe that the anti social and other negative stereotypes associated with the average traditional gamer is because of the lack of social etiquette and civility within the community. The constant bickering between DM and the players that borders paranoia, the intolerance of the rule lawyer to the flagrant motives of the roleplayer, and wanton debauchery of the power gamer. To the shear amount of intolerances and prejudices that each person has for the other gamer's personal fantasies and other related escapisms.

Does this interpretation even exist? I watched a lot of Rogers in the 70's, I don't ever recall either laziness or entitlement being promoted.

I can't believe FOX news would ever, EVER say a stray word about the most saintly-yet-non-spiritual man to ever walk the world. With his words, he made the world a SLIGHTLY less shitty place, and it disgusts me that people would ever have the gall to dishonor the dead man's name by pinning society's woes on him.

I never watched very much of his show because my parents didn't want me watching too much TV but what I got was amazing. I always try to see the issue from all perspectives and respect those who disagree with me. I was homeschooled and never got to watch much television. When it was allowed, Mr. Rogers was usually the first thing I looked for while flipping through the channels. By my parents' standards, I was far too old to be watching his program, but it was still one of the few comforts I had while growing up. He was always respectful of his audience, talked to them as if they were real people and not some classification of child or adult, and was a sharp dresser to boot. I wish that I could have met him before he passed, if only to thank him for his friendship and love. Hugging Mr. Rogers would have been pretty boss, too.
