    65 KB Rogue Trader Quest part 10 Tablet !!0fEYB5hrFn3 11/12/10(Fri)16:53 No.12773523
    Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/12743608/

Beyond the bounds of Imperial space, the only law is the word of Rogue Traders such as Dolemite Dead- wait what’s going on? You aren’t Dolemite Deadlift, Rogue Trader of the Imperium. No, you are an acolyte of the Inquisition, Ordos Hereticus.

Currently, you’re waiting in at your cell’s safe house on guard, waiting for the rest of the cell to return. An old, moldy motel that no one would think to bother bugging, it’s just what you need to stay on the down low for the duration of the mission. Holes in the walls, unidentified stains in the remains of the carpet, wall paper falling off the wall, and best of all, there’s…. something growing in the fridge that no one has been brave enough to try to eat. At least you get a torn up couch to sleep on. Oh, and there’s the fact you have so many goddamn guns that the things literally lines the walls.

Struggling to wake from that wonderful dream about anywhere but here, you roll off the couch and fall onto the floor. Definitely not your most graceful, no? Slowly but surely you manage to stumble to your feet and make your way to the bathroom, where you promptly find the water in the sink to spew some rust colored filth. Oh man, you just love how you’re job takes you to new and exciting places, don’t you? Disgusted, you rub your eyes in a near futile attempt to wake up and find yourself looking in the mirror. Isn’t it a wonderful day to be…

Bob. Right. Damn, you knew you shouldn’t have picked your codename while you were hung over. ‘I mean, what kind of idiot names themselves Bob in the right state of mind?’ you mentally ask yourself. Thinking about the subject, you should have picked something cool, like Ghost, or Scarecrow. Really, what’s the point of being a part of some scary, super-secret organization if you don’t get an awesome code name? Still, it has its uses. At the very least, you can blend into the crowd, and who suspects a guy named Bob of being capable bringing down an evil cult?

Finishing up your morning routine, you walk back to the couch, when you hear the secret knock and code word for entrance coming from the front door. But it’s a little early for the team to be back already…

You grab the nearest gun you can find, a hellpistol. Damn, as shitty as your lodging is, your boss sure does know how to arm you. Silently, you make your way to the door, and look through the peephole. On the otherside you see three figures, each covered in plain, drab clothing while the one in the middle has a hood over his head. They seem to be hiding in the dark, obscuring your ability to see them. For a moment, you’re unsure if they’re your team, until you see Jack’s tell tale bright orange beard. You’re relieved, because no one else on this damn planet would even think of braiding their beard.

You open the door just a crack and ask for the password, when Jack says, “Open the damn door boy, we’re ain’t got all day. We have shit to do today.”

Jack is visibly flustered, saying, “Damn it, boy the password’s defenestrate. Like what I’m going to do if you don’t let me us in. I swear, you keep this up and I won’t take you get you anymore of Eire Fire to drink.”

With the password and the threat of alcohol withdrawl floating above your head, you allow the trio to enter. Jack bulrushes his way in, shoving the door open and you along with it, while the other two follow him inside. Picking yourself up off the floor, the hooded one walks past you and offers a soft apology for Jack’s behavior.

Once inside where the threat of identification is gone, the three get out of their disguises. Jack, the loud and boisterous man he is, throws his disguise to the wall, thankful to be in his kilt and regular shirt once more. After berating you for leaving them out on the door step once more, he walks into the kitchen to grab a drink. The other unhooded figure sits down on the couch, and carefully begins to remove her wig and make up to reveal herself as Katherine, a lithe black haired bomb shell who continuously threatens to cut your throat in your sleep whenever you try to hit on her.

Last but not least in Lily, who removes her hood to reveal her stark white hair in a bob haircut. Ever shy, she moves into the girl’s joint room to remove her disguise.

Anyways, ask them where they were and how did it go. And get yourself a beer.

You walk into the kitchen to grab something to drink too, only to find Jack took the last Eire Fire, leaving you with a fifth of rotgut. Eh, better than nothing. Grabbing a shot glass, you take a hit, and wander back to the couch, wondering how you ended up in this shit hole.

Guess it has something to do you not being a very smart man. Clearly, you have made some bad decisions in life. Admittedly, not all of them were yours. Honestly, you would have preferred not to been an orphan and sent off to the Schola Progenium. Gotta play the cards you were dealt, you guess. No, your decisions really went south while you were there. Top scores at fencing, marksmanship, and small team tactics earned you a place as a storm trooper. Low scores in just about anything else made damn sure you we’re going any higher. Armed with the knowledge that you wouldn’t rise above, and the how to get away with shit turned you into a man black ops team of a teenager, hellbent on having fun. After almost getting thrown out (i.e. executed) for sneaking into the Sister’s dorm after hours, you drew the attention of a visiting Inquisitor. In hindsight, the worst mistake you’ve ever made.

It’s been five years since then, and you’ve made a life out of doing shit people don’t need to know about. Assisinations, Intrigue, Drugs, Psykers, Xeno and Deamon cults, you’ve dealt with it all. The Fall of the Obsidian Empire? You pulled the trigger. The Burning Pyre of the newly renamed Hive Repentance? You light the match. That messy affair with the Tau back on Gammalon 5? You didn’t have shit to do with it, but you did put chunky end to the rebellion on Gammalon 6.

What are you doing here? Apparently some minor official in the tech cult has been sabotaging the sewers here, which could end badly for the city above if the underground explodes from the backed up pressure. You’ve got to find him, find out why he’s doing this, and find the pipe and fix it.

You take another shot of rotgut, and ask the team how they fared. Jack, ever the elegant one, answers you with a belch. The two of you share a small laugh, while Katherine mutters something derogatory about your gender. Removing the last fake eyelash, your sharp-witted compatriot moves her raven haired head in your direction, and says, “We went down to the slums where our contact was going to meet us. After a bribe, she divulged that some short little whiskered men had been seen in the underground lately, apparently going off towards the pipe. Thanking her for her time, we went to meet up with Mark’s part of the cell, and exchange information. Apparently, they had heard similar things.”

“Once more, they had apparently found some shocking news. An alchemical plant had been raided the night before. Apparently those robbed freight transports you had found out about were from the same company. They stolen material seems to add up to make a bomb. Nero and Lily figure that they’re done waiting for pressure and are trying to speed up the explosion date. Jack decided to look into this personally, and went down underground to look into this. He says he flashed his badge and got the suspect to cooperate. Given that he came back with the suspect in a burlap sack unconscious, I doubt this was the truth, though given that it’s Jack, he could have done that even if the guy was cooperating. Long story short, we have the suspect unconscious tied to a chair back at the warehouse,” she explains with a not so inconsiderate amount of passive aggressive spite being thrown at Jack.

Jack, for his part, doesn’t seem to notice. Turning her attention back to you, she inquires with a barb, “So, how was house sitting?”

Ah, the perks of duty. Throwing a cloak over the top of it, you prepare to exit when Lily exits her room.

“Lily, as radiant as ever,” you note as she exits. It’s true, too. While Katherine is has a sexy, dangerous feel, Lily has a touch of youth and innocence. Dressed in her miniature power armor, and a hand flamer at her side, you’re surprised to see her wait supported by this shit hole’s floors. Best not to think about it really. Cerulean eyes gaze at you, and her pale skin blushes as she says quietly, “…Thanks.”

Well, more like ten be ten concrete room where he’s been stashed. Taking a look inside from a security camera, you spy him tied to a wooden chair, with a burlap sack secured over his head.

They may appear weak and fragile, but it is a terrible truth to know their true horrors. We carry this burden, and with it wield it as a torch in the darkness.”

Her speech finished, she is surprised to find herself standing up, with you staring at her, and quickly sits down, trying to make herself as small as possible.

“I, um, didn’t bring any. Katherine says from the after action reports she read that your not allowed to any during active duty because of the hive spiring blowing up last time,” Lily meekly explains. Damn, you were really hoping no one read that report. Ah well, you might as well make this half hour worth while. Removing your helmet so you can have a face to face conversation, you start talking to her about relatively innocent things, like what she thought about the last mission, or what her favorite hymn is. In between rplies, you manage to flirt with her shamlessly, all the while Katherine interrogates the subject.

Just as Katherine is about to exit the cell, Lily is bright red in her face, while you keep laying on the compliments and flirts. Noticing your time is about up, you..

Let's ask her to the shooting range. Going straight to asking her to dinner would be a bit too direct, I think. This is a semi-professional thing that shouldn't require too big a charm success thing to get. (I hope).

You didn't actually specify what we were going to do though.

So my vote is that since Katherine is on her way up, and the last thing we want is for her to walk in on us asking Lily out (she'll probably manhandle us in unpleasant ways), we should make a speedy retreat.

“Oh, well in that case-“ Lily responds, only to be cut off by Katherine exiting the holding cell. The fierce looking interrogator turns towards the two of you, her demeanor demanding respect. Lily and you shoot straight up, both ready for anything.

Her face drawn into a vicious smile, Katherine peers at the two of you, saying, “Alright, I’ve found out the following: there seems to be an ab-human race of sorts in the underground. Bob, you’ve served with ratlings before, right?”

“Small, thieving little buggers who are devils with sniper rifles?” you ask, hoping this isn’t going where you think it is.

“Those are the ones. Apparently, some had gotten on the planet a couple centuries back or so, and set up a breeding population in the underground. They’ve adapted to the environment, becoming, bigger, stronger, and a hell of a lot more vicious. In addition, or probably because, of that, they’ve set up alliances with local mutant cults and other recidivists, to bring this city down under its wait. They figure if they can’t show their face up here, they’ll bring the capitol of the planet down to their level. Now, this place might not be that big, but it’ll crumble under its own weight all the same, and the amount of economic power lost to the planet and consequently the sector because of it will be greatly harmful. Unfortunately, we can’t completely alert the government to this because of sell outs and traitors, not to mention the panic it would cause,” Katherine explains with a murderous look.

“Well, it can’t be all bad, can it?” Lily asks hopefully.

Turning her full attentions towards the Sister, Katherine says with a wristful look, “Thankfully not. We can still get some allies. In addition, we have a good idea of what’s going on now. While we don’t know who the traitor tech-priest is, we also have a general idea where the damage is. The prisoner over there isn’t a heretic, and was more than willing to tell me everything she knew.”

“Speaking of which,” she says thoughtfully, before turning around. Drawing her laspistol Katherine opens the door, and pulls the trigger once. You immediately hear an all too familiar sizzle, and know the prisoner has been taken care of. A content smile on her face, Katherine turns back to the two of you, saying, “Alright, lets meet up with Jack and decide on a plan of action.”

Her eyes flash, revealing how intent she is thinking about the mission, and she walks off. In the awkward silence of it all, you begin to put your helmet on, only to be interrupted by Lily approaching you and whispering in your ear, “I look forward to going to the shooting range when this is all done.” Dumbfounded, you can only watch as she giggles like a school girl and rushes on after Katherine. Snapping your helmet back on with a grunt, you begin to follow them, taking your time.

Nobody pays notice to the corpse of the innocent in the cell. In this world, there is no innocence, only guilt. People go on with their lives, fighting for every scrap of happiness. Some people get screwed, like her. Some people get lucky, like Bob. At the end of the day, it’s what you do with your life, what you fight for, that matters.
