>>9263081 Kitsune Aki is pleasant enough fellow. He tells you that he runs a small merchant interest for his clan. There are many rare herbs that grow within Kitsune Mori and he manages the gathering and transport for sale of those herbs for export. His most interesting story is that the Mantis have nearly doubled their import of ginseng. Aki has no idea what they are doing with all of it, but he is happy to supply it as it drives up his prices.
The only troubling thing he mentions is that some of his gatherers have had troubles with a spirit wolf. On hearing the word wolf Shinji speaks up about his encounter with a giant wolf the night before. Soon most of the table is in the discussion and the elderly man at the end of table, Kitsune Gohei, says that the old wolf's lost shrine must have been disturbed, but sadly no one knows how to placate it.
Just as stories about the spirit wolf die down, an attendant announces Kitsune Ryosei. The Fox Daimyo strides into room with quiet confidence. She surveys the room and gives a slight nod of acknowledgment to both you and Shinji. After she takes her seat at the head of the table, dinner is served. You are served rice with many mushrooms and other fruits of the forest. The meal is simple but delicious. After the meal you asked to step forward and present your gift, you remember your training well and may use this opportunity to use the customary denials of your gift to flatter your host.
If you wish to do so make a Courtier roll of 5d10 keeping 3 vs a TN of 20. Raises may be used to impress both Ryosei and those present. A good response to her denials is worth a free raise.
Upon being presented with your scroll Ryosei says, "Toranaga-san, your clan and mine have ever been good neighbors, no gifts are needed amongst friends like your clan and mine," as she motions the scroll away. |
