Something unproductive, that's probably a given.

Oh, in regards to our little political mess I've created?

Well, first I explain to Fierstrom why Domino is likely to call her "Mommy."

Then I'm probably have quite a bit of 'splainin' to do with Evergrad. I may or may not omit some details. MAYBE the part about Domino/Abaddon following only Walker and Fierstrom, which really boils down to me not liking most of the people outside of our little circle within the Federation government.

Also, Walker just does not like Evergrad.

Oh, right, if you want a promotion, just say something and give me a decent reason to.

Specifically if it's with regards to our past mission, especially.

Also, King is now a designated Naval CO.

Now we have TWO Navy CO'S! WHO WILL BE THE SECOND GROUND CO?

King, I don't think it's even possible to upgrade the Mother Ship as a stand-alone unit.

I think it gets upgrades when the whole Navy does, much like how Bravo gets upgrades as a whole every now and then.

And change your tag to [CO]. Whether you like it or not, you're now a Naval CO.

    So [Nv. CO], or something.

    Ender gets a rank up
    Trauma gets a rank up

Maybe give some of my KP to Trauma with Geist.

    Ranks for naval?

    MEDALS:

    lost for saving your ass
you for having the balls to be there
    Ender for holding a flank
Shot for taking the east solo

    1) no more recrutment threads.
    2) do mother ship kills stack? For example King was Mother this time, but last time it was someone else. Same ship so should the KP go to the ship?

    "..."

I think we went over budget. Maybe. Or were REALLY close to going over budget.

Yeah, so a totoal of 192 points were spent last game.

    We came in with 217.

So yeah, until I get a definitive points earned, no new meatsuits for awhile.

And medals, Dragon? Fuck, they won't mean anything, and it means that I have to start making names up, like the "Bronze Star of Bravery" or some shit.

And damnit Shot, did you really have to kill off Derringer like that? You DO know that every time a character with kills is lost, it represents a serious reduction in the power of our fighting force, especially our potential, since those kills earned prior mean they get closer to a specialization class?

Of course, for RP purposes, you can have him dead. It's your choice, and never fielding him again will have the same effect.

Oh yeah, King since you're Naval CO, this would effectively make it your problem, if you choose to make it so.

No more recruitment threads? Yeah, that's already been established.

Kills for the mothership? No, I think the mother ship gets upgraded alongside Sword of Damocles as a whole.

The upgrade system was meant to award individuals; at any time, there is only one mothership, which has been controlled by different people, all presumably under the orders of the Naval CO.

So unless OC says so, I don't see a reason it WOULD be upgraded for individual actions.

Oh yeah, from now on, CO's will have the option of deciding where people deploy, along with assigning squads/teams.

And games will be limited to 15 players, + any number of supporting [TA]'s and/or [CO]'s.

The mercenary York walks down the halls of the mother ship followed by his "friend" Blitz. Their armor was blood stained and cracked but they were on a mission, a mission for a friend. "This the guy? This ship is too damn big" "Shut up Blitz" With that, York knocks on the office door. Rear Admiral King is sitting behind his desk in his new office. It was bare, boxes stacked off to the side. He was typing up after battle reports on the terminal built into the desk when he heard a knock at the door. "Come on in."

York enters quickly, standing upright, clear indications of a military man, but Blitz is in a relaxed pose, takes his time, and spends more time looking around the room then anything else. York reads the new plack on King's desk "Rear Admiral. Congratulations King." He places a suitcase to his side. King leans back in his chair. It was that mercenary again. He searches his memory for a second before the name comes to him, "Ah, York. Thank you. What brings you here today? Not seeking employment, are you?" King remembers the last time they hired York.

"I'm always seeking employment King, but that's not why I'm here." He picks up the suitcase and places it on King's desk. "Thunderchild was a good man, one of the best I've ever known." He opens up the Case and spins it towards King revealing quite a few points "...For some reason, he wanted you to have this. His fee and the bounty on the kills he earned" As the case is spun around to face King, his eyes widened in surprise as a screen showing funds being transferred to Bravo was revealed. "That's...that's enough to buy a cruiser and have some left over!" He stands up. "Didn't he or any of his crew have families for this to go to?"

"Legitimacy King, they are already well taken care of. He sent me a message before his ship went, and he told me to give this to bravo, to give this to you." York starts to walk away as blitz suddenly snaps to attention "Woah woah woah, what the fuck? That's our money York! that's MY home that just got full of holes! We had to fight and didn't even get paid!"

"It was his choice Blitz. He's done enough that we will honor his wishes."
    "Bull shit!"
York’s arm quickly extends and grabs Blitz by the collar, dragging him close "Get out of this office or you're out of Blaze.”
"Y-yeah, got it boss" Blitz quickly retreats from the office. York sighs, facing away from King. "I heard you lost some men too." York turns to face him. "I hope you honor them like I am here." He puts his helm back on "...And i hope we do business again soon."

King nods to York. "Without him, we would have lost far more than we did. Where I am from they say that most great men never survive war, for they are all too willing to sacrifice themselves so others will live. Thunderchild died doing just that, blocking the leviathan queen from reaching the station. Bravo will not forget his or his crew's sacrifice." He steps around the desk and shakes York's hand. "Until we meet again."

York shakes as well "It's the way he would have wanted. May this be a long, fruitful relationship" York salutes King before leaving.

Forgotten at the tiresome dawn, at the end of the last segment, apparently.

Anyway, just assume that the fleet took up a number of xeno fleet as Walker planned, probably against a second Leviathan or some shit, instead of the Admiral's original plan to break through and turn around in a pincer strike.

Instead, his fleet managed to let LangLy's reinforcement to come in safely and untouched, while holding back the a part of the xeno fleet. With staggering losses, of course. But it does not matter, the fleet was mostly AI and MEME.

Though now, wondeing if I ought to kill the Admiral...

    . . .

Well, let us just say that he chose to ram his (piloted by himself and AIs) Mothership to the enemy's. The bridge collapsed, but later, after the xeno fleet suddenly froze, the rescuers managed to recover him from the wreck, alive but in critical condition and in a coma.

    To be determined more later...

When people experiance grief, they cope in different ways. Some will withdraw, quiet, into a shell of loathing and anger. Others will explode, frenzied and roaring, at every opportunity. Shot? Shot dove into work. The Elite Colossus was being broken down for parts. It was time to overhaul Betsy again. Loud noise roared across the motor pool as he severed this and that, tossing away nonessential embellishments, jumping down loudly to set aside important parts. He worked without saying a word, which might be disconcerting. Usually he mumbled to himself constantly.

Just when everything seemed right, and everything seemed solved, another wrench flew into the gears of his mind. He didn't want to be known as the broody guy who had black slicked hair over one eye and cut himself at night.

But damnit, he just lost the last blood relative he had. It was going to Affect him, deeply.

Blaze had awoken from cryo sleep to see a medical technician watching him from behind the plated glass. The tube opened, and the technician, still looking down and taking notes, asked disinterestedly:

    "How do you feel, clone?"

Blaze looked down at his hands, clenching them a few times to get the blood flowing.

"Like a toy soldier... Fresh out of the package."

Shortly afterwards he'd been assigned to Ugly squad to assist in the defense of Tsiang Tibler. Apparently an unusually large number of clones had been activated for this mission, as the objective was too important to lose.

Blaze looked down at the disassembled parts of his rifle, which he'd just cleaned. He started putting it back together, thinking to himself idly. He'd seen the hybrid, had gone to it's defense upon being ordered to do so. Something about it made Blaze feel uneasy. He didn't know what; it looked like a perfectly innocent little kid. Not having the clearance, and having only just been activated, he didn't know the details. Maybe he'd find out if one of his superiors told him, but he didn't intend to go about asking. Soldiers don't need to fight for a cause, or to know for what they're fighting. They just fight because it's their job. A soldier can easily be convinced to fight for a cause he doesn't believe in, so long as he can fight beside men he can believe in.

He wondered if he could believe in Bravo.

Putting his rifle back together completely, he leaned against the wall with one foot up against it, the rifle leaned against his knee. He looked down at it blankly.

"A toy soldier... wind me up and set me loose."

Oh right, just thought I'd let you kids know, currently we are working on overhauling the command points system. As mentioned before, the last engagement has highlighted some rather large flaws within the system that makes it obscenely difficult to keep track of and whatnot, especially when you have your CO's on and off and there's a lack of communication occurring. Which usually comes with a CO that isn't present at the moment.

What does this mean for the rest of you non-CO players?

Well, expect less liberal spending, mainly. However, in theory, it could allow for MULTIPLE CO's playing different games without having to worry too much about how many points we started with, how many we end with, etc.

    Updated with LASTrooper

    >LASTroopers utilize basic Knight power armor to handle the immense man portable Array cannon. It is capable of sight range firing, and with the help of Forward Observes and Medics, can fire rapidly to almost any area otherwise invisible to it. The LAStrooper deals a high rate of heavy damage but the weapons system does not discriminate from friend or foe. It can also be used to clear terrain and destabilize firing lines.

Downshooting and Forced firing options are available.

Or right, King, we are currently sitting on 330 points.

I would like to "partition" the points we currently have between Naval and Ground forces, simple 50/50.

So as it stands, Navy gets 165 points, and Ground gets 165 points for future missions.

Just as a reminder, from the way it's going to work now, Navy can field anything they want (in theory), however deaths subtract from the point pool. They only get points from the Ground or doing super-special awesome crap and OC says that they get points for it.

Ground essentially works like Advanced Wars/SC-style RTS, where we start with the given points, then pick up resources/complete actions to get more and spend them on (additional) units/deployments.

And FYI, it costs 5 points at the start of the game to deploy someone in any given vehicle (unless OC says otherwise).

Droids will still be liquidated back to points at the end of the game, and I don't see a reason for the same to apply to vehicles.

Oh yeah, with this system, it would entirely possible for Naval to reduce their numbers to 0 and still have people in space, in which case going to 0 means the mission fails.

Dragon enters the motor pool with his bot entourage. Comet, the jet black silent observer, and Ash, the new comer who seems to walk with its head held high. "Oh *explative* Shot! God damn i haven't talked to you in forever!" The three make their way over, though Comet stops part way. A position to watch the exchange in its entirety.

Blaze walked along silently, his rifle slung at his back. He'd been informed that veterans of one battle were authorized access to vehicles. He had to wonder how lenient Bravo was with it's resources if they could afford to give anyone who survived a battle a tank. Or how wasteful they were with new personnel, either way. He located the motor pool and entered, looking around absently. His attention was turned when he noticed sounds coming from one end of the motor pool, and he looked to see a woman working on a vehicle, and and another soldier with his droids approaching her. He watched from a distance for a moment.

Shot rose from the shoulder of the Collosus. He scanned the room and turned to finish something, pulling out something that looked important. He climbed down the metal thing like an ape, landing beside Dragon. The faceplate of the mask slid back smoothly. "What is it, Dragon?" he asked, walking back to the collosus, climbing it again. "This is a delicate operation, here. Did something happen?" his words were clipped, swift, businesslike. Something about Shot was different. Again.

"uh...nothing I just saw you working and figured we haven't talked in a while." Dragon watches Shot climb, and then sighs. "I have a jetpack, i could have Ash give you a ride or something" The blue bot suddenly turns to Dragon, bewildered. "...or I could do it" Comet turns to the new comer Blaze, it lightly nods its head towards him before turning back to the others.
"Hey I remember punching this thing!"

Blaze rose an eyebrow as the droid nodded at him. Smarter than the average droid, it would seem. He shrugged, turning away to look at the other vehicles. It looked like those two were in a conversation that didn't need him.

Ghost stepped out of Ghoul's office. Seeing the gathering over by the colossus, he walked over. "Hello Dragon, have you seen Lt. Ghoul around?" He didn't recognize the other two. "Eh, if not it's not that important. It can wait. How have you been? Celebrating our victory? Not getting into fights I hope."

"Hey..." Dragon looks closely at the sargent and then points "...Ghost?" Dragon smiles when he gets it right "Awesome, well, nah i haven't seen the Lt for a while." Dragon rubs his chin "As for the fights, none so far but i'm working on it." Dragon then motions to the girl on the colosus "Just chattin' with Shot a bit."

Shot looked between the two and frowned. "Look out, down there." he said, severing something. The massive arm of the collosus simply fell off, and he grabbed it with the gauntlets, slowing its fall. He landed beside it when it struck the floor, opening a panel and getting to more work. He looked up at Ghost and sighed. "I have to finish these modifications to the Gyro before the next battle. I have to. Betsy still isn't fast enough, strong enough." he said, though at this point he was rambling. "Can't protect my family. Can't protect." he shook his head. "Sorry... Just not in the mood to celebrate, Sarge." Sarge. Not Ghost. "You go have fun with some of the new recruits, Dragon." He yanked something out, and there was a spark. "Goddamnit!" he growled, shaking a smoking gauntlet.

Blaze was looking at the armament on one of the Bi Tanks when he heard the sound of something large and heavy striking the ground. He looked over to see that the collosus' arm had come off. He watched for a moment before going back to what he was doing.

Dragon boosts back to get a clear distance away, and Ash simply sidesteps slightly. After the arm falls looks bewildered as he hears Shot's comments his tone is concerned "Shot what the hell's wrong with you? You are way to hot to be upset" He begins to approach, smiling at his own joke "Hey hey buddy, Betsy doesn't need any more, you ran over a mantis while on fire for *explative* sake! I'm sure you'll get a chance to show your family what a bombshell you are. hehe. I still want a vid of that by the way"

Ghost watched the arm fall, landing a not so comfortable distance from him. "He's kind of right err... Shot," Shot? "We just survived an xeno fleet, you should be pretty happy!" He looks over to the other guy. "You too, rookie! Shot, it looks like we'll be having tons of time before next deployment. Get out of here and live a little!"

Shot rose, the gauntlet smoking a bit. "Ah course ye can be happy." he said quietly. "You still have Lost, don't you? And Dragon still has Domino and his robots. There's no one who died out there permanently for you to mourn." he sighed, pointing to an empty spot beside Betsy. "My boy called his Stork Vera, after 'is mother, my wife. He had a girl back home he loved. Friends. He wanted nothing more than to survive the attack. But when his Stork imploded, his flux was annihilated by the storm Domino caused, like a candle in a hurricane." he went back to work, quietly. "When my boy can drink with me, I'll celebrate.

Blaze jolted his head over as the other soldier called to him. He stood from where he knelt beside the Bi Tank, walking over quietly. He looked for rank designations on each of the others, having been rushed out for the previous battle so quickly that he wasn't even familiar with who outranked him.

Dragon is silent, not knowing about his son and his fate. "Shot. this is war, This is what happens. The important thing is that we're alive, and that we're here. I don't have Domino, ever since the *explative* power *explative* he's been out and I've had no access" Dragon places a hand on Shot's shoulder. "I don't know what you mean about lost, and I DEFINITELY don't know what you mean about my bots" Dragon turns toward the two "No offense boys but I don't think you guys have mouths to drink with"
Comet nods, as Ash shifts his posture. Dragon pulls Shot away from the arm a bit "If anything this is a reason to drink more. In his honor, Stomps honor, to domino's health, to make sure you make it back to tell his old lady. That your son died a hero." Dragon can't help but start laughing "Hahahaha! Hell! to tell her you're her father in law! Ha!" Dragon finishes with a pat on the back "'Sides, I'll see him in the afterlife soon enough, and I'll pass your love on. You got my word."

Ghost had caught that bit about him and Lost. His mouth was open, about to ask Shot to explain when Dragon jumped in. Once Dragon finished, he realized this was probably a bad time to ask about it while Shot was grieving.

Blaze looked around at the three other soldiers. He felt as if he'd just had the worst timing imaginable, and that something terrible was about to happen. In the back of his mind, he wondered what he'd done to deserve this.

Shot reached up, gently grasping Dragon's arm. "You should really learn, Dragon. When someone says 'no', they mean..." he turned, flipping the young man over his back, onto the floor. "No. Now get out of my hanger, Dragon." he said, returning to his work. "I have work to do."

Blaze looked at the drA confusedly as he was dragged off. He decided it was probably in his best interests to follow, so he did. He noticed that drA was the same rank as him. "Uh... huh. I'll probably need to hear the story behind that."

"That was some crazy *explative*. I'll give you the low down on everyone over that drink"

As they fly Dragon does his best to explain everything to the new comer. His name was Dragon and he was NOT supposed to have his bots, he was NOT supposed to have his jetpack, he was often in the center of some kind of trouble. Blaze looked at Dragon for a moment. "So you're... Dragon, the Dragon. Somehow out of all that stuff you told me, that part stands out."

"Er... yeah." he meant Geist, maybe? He remembered being asked by him to watch out for Geist on a trip to the motorpool once. Lost had been with him. Something personal then? Instead of correcting Shot, he simply said "Yes, family..." He would get that recording and just hand it to Geist later.

Shot frowned. "You don't... Wait. Did you get another clone woken up, Ghost?"

    "Eh, no I haven't. I am Geist's clone though."

Shot sighed. "You know, I hate when folks pull shit like this..." he shook his head. "Just tell Geist or whatever he's callin' hisself to meet up with me, later."

"Yes... of course." Not sure quite what he had walked into, Ghost just kind of turned to walk away. "I'll do that. I've got some things I need to do. See you around."

Shot grunted. There was more work to do.

It was personal this time, their 4th time together. Outside, a naval encirclement has surrounded the despondent hive cluster , their targets marked, their safeties covering for them case they miss when shit goes down. A fresh captain has already made the mistake of firing a rail gun into a hive pod. This caused the frail child to shudder in medical. Fierstrom has a TACIM on her desk- his picture on the monitor. One would mistake it for a family photograph. The rumbling and stochastic thrums of bugs clicking was shut out by a deep rumbling score from some age classical. It blended quite well with the bug noises and it played as loud as it was soothing.

" I saw your report Walker," Her eyes were tired her nose red. She had a crying fit before he came here, he didn't have to be an empath to know.

" My only question now is what you want to do with this whole mess. "

" You have a child capable of taming a force more dangerous than human mortality itself- you know that High Command wont ignore something like this for long. Hell, not even Evergrad can stuff this one in his big black folder of x-files "

" And yes- before you say anything, he does understand the situation the man is 300 years old for Lander's sake "

Colonel Walker sat on the seat across from Fierstrom, pinching the bridge of his nose, with his TACIM sitting on the table inactive and disconnected from his mind. He had recently found himset beset with numerous headaches. It was probably because of the situation he was in, all the stress. Or it was something Dragon did, he reasoned to himself. Six times out of ten, it was ALWAYS Dragon behind the headaches before.
    >> OrbitalCommand !w68jcmPgR6 01/17/11(Mon)01:36 No.13549737
"You know Fierstrom, I had worked out most of this. Nearly all of it, I suppose. After all the shit went down, I planned and made little plots based on the information I recieved. And for the most part, it all worked out, achieving the desired result, which is... well, our current situation. So yeah, I worked out everything, nearly all the possibilities, EXCEPT for what to do next."

"Honestly? I have no frickin' clue, ma'am. I figured you or Evergrad would flip, then send me and the boys to go kill something like usual, after trying to get your hands on Domino or any one of my men for some strange-ass experiment."

Walker unfolded his leg to sit with both feet on the ground, and smiled.

"Of course, I also assumed one of you would be yelling at me and making my life something close to a living hell."

    He laughed.

"Of course, that's assuming that it already isn't."

" That part where we cart you off to section 6 to be tested on is only a formality walker, gotta make sure you're not touched by the xeno influence. " She mused. " The boy represents a very different method of fighting the threat, unfortunately its in the shape of a small child. Tell me, how particular are you to this boy ? His safety his treatment and well being "

She looked at the viewing glass, drifting shapes flapped and jetted around them. As if in protection. She beamed at the sight of it as if she was in an aquarium.

    "Ahem, well, about that..."

Walker fidgeted nervously. How would he explain this to Fierstrom? He hadn't included it in the report, as making a deal with the devil seemed like something that shouldn't be made known. And yet, here he was, telling an inquisitor. Funny times, he mused to himself.

"I, uhh... made a promise - a deal, rather. Said I would protect the boy and prevent him from being 'subjugated' by anyone. And, uhh... well, given the things I've said and whatnot, it could be interpreted that I now gotta treat the boy as a part of the family, you know?"

    Walker coughed.
    "Ohandonthatnoteyoumaybeseenasamothernow."

Walker coughed again. Perhaps this would give him... what, maybe 30 seconds to think things out?

" Notarize it " She said sharply.
" Notarize it and I'll sign it. If Evergrad can be arsed to oversee a diplomatic negotiation it would make it official. This IS what it is right ? A peace negotiation with an alien race- in fact its the very first one "

Walker buried his face in one of his hands. By the Landers, he was screwed. Nevermind the emotions washing over him from Fierstrom - excitement, nervousness, maybe a little greed. Must have been the headache, or just simple intuition after having been hooked to PsiComm for so damn long, he reasoned.

He chuckled nervously. Yup, he was screwed. Even moreso when he decided to tell her. Which, he supposed, would be now.

He looked at the screen where Orbital came up, and coughed. Hopefully, she would get the hint.

A digital chirp of confirmation was heard, and the screen that had displayed Orbital's signal went dark.

"Ermm, right. You see, here's the thing. The... deal I made. It went something like this: in exchange for promising never to subjugate the boy - the hybrid, I mean - to anyone, including the Xeno and the Federal Government, I - or rather, I should say, we, being you, Inquisitor Fierstrom, and I, now have the loyalty of the hybrid and AI which control this swarm, which will be a part of Bravo force until the day they cease to exist."

He coughed again. Now this was the part she might strangle him for.

"Also, in exchange for giving them future control over the ruined sectors of humanity, I think, they have sworn to, well, fight for humanity against the Exaulted. Forever, presumably."

"Oh, right, and during the time that the boy stays with us, he's going to be treated as a member of Bravo force. I think I phrased it as a 'part of a large human family' at the time."

He coughed once more. His headache was flaring up again...

She laughed herself to a corner her hand on her desk. As she glanced a look on the monitor there.
" Are you familiar with Neptunia ? "

"Neptunia? Sorry, I don't think I am, Inquisitor."

" I wouldn't think so. It was an offworld startup, a research planet of a sort. It contained some quadrillion globals or water and her oceans were majestic and blue. When I was a child, my mother worked as a marine eco-engineering, she was a lightyear away from home, so every year when I came, she would have aged 2 years while her daughter remained almost unchanged. Every year I met her she was looking happier and happier as the marine samples she was given were thriving, and flourishing. That was the first time I have seen a whale. When I was 19, I had just missed the news about an interstellar invasion. Images of Neptunia in her sister labs on Tera was showing images of the last cetatian getting eaten alive and ... forming into this irrecognizable beast.... Walker stood up, and withdrawing a hankerchief from his pocket, proceeded to gently press it to her mouth, long enough for her to catch it when he let go. Marching over to the viewing platform, Colonel Walker stood, gazing at the space-borne xenoforms.

    *Flip* *click* *fwoosh*

Walker drew a fresh cigar, lit it, and began to smoke it. For five minutes, he stood, watching from the viewport. For five minutes, he stood, back to Fierstrom.

"Hope you don't mind... seems to be the only thing that calms these headaches down..."

Walker turned, and calmly walked to stand before Fierstrom. Taking the cigar from his mouth, he gently rested his other hand on Fierstrom's shoulder.

She laid there. Breathing heavily. Unceremoniously she got up. Unceremoniously she dabbed the napkin to her lips. The scenario that she concocted for this very day was shot down like a middle school play ruined by a boorish ass in the rear of an audience. There was no fire or grandeur here, no this was the first diplomatic session that she was going to destroy.

At that time in that play her mother was in the front seat while her lines stuttered as she was about to sing a song. Someone booed. A drunk parent perhaps. It threw off her game, the lights above her were heavy now and everyone's eyes were on her. And then she heard it.

    Clapping.

It was her mother, clapping the measure of the tune she was supposed to sing. Clapping to make sure she got the beat right.

Clapping because she knew what a great performance this was going to be.

    And she sang.

Fierstrom clenched her sides as she sang. Sobbing some old anthem of a fictional country that once fought for abstract concepts like freedom and liberty. Sang about the stars and the bounties of Earth before it was even discovered or missed. Sang it as she cried not even managing to stand up.

    Walker could feel it.

So many years of her hard shell built up and erected with hatred and detached scientific objectivity that her mother had was crumbling like an obsidian tower. Her foundations of strength, the drive that made her stand up even to human opponnents had crumbled as of this moment.

But it was fine. She was singing. She was making her mother proud.

Walker stood there, confused, as he listened to Fierstrom's haunting song. The emotions and feelings washed over her - like a single ray of light piercing the protective shell that she had once bathed herself in.

The crimson sea of anger and objectivity that once emanated from her waned, and from it, a new emotion... pride? Happiness? Sadness and grief at the admittance of something lost?

Walker didn't know what to do. Like some pubescent boy in his first romantic moment, Walker stood there dumbfounded. He had know clue as to what he should do, and a part of his mind was worried he had accidentally broken Fierstrom somehow.

All of his mind hadn't even realized that he had gripped his cigar so hard that he crushed it, and subsequently had burned the palm of his hand.

Walker looked about. Well, at least Orbital wasn't watching. Because every fibre of his being was telling him that this was going to be something very stupid to do.

He moved over, and as gently as possible, picked the Inquisitor up by the armpits like an oversized child, and brought her to her feet.

She wobbled a little. Her eardrum had popped. Her knees were weak on top of her being off balance.

    >Hey everyone! Sorry I missed the thread earlier today!

    > Found in currently in medical quarantine following the events of last game. The physician currently in charge of her is Second Lieutenant Dr. Rorwen Tucker.
    >Lost is in the waiting room outside, being consoled by Corporal Lori Adams (nurse) and Sergeant Geist (right?).
    >The following is a medical overview of Found conducted by Dr. Rorwen Tucker. If you’re allowed in medical quarantine (like a doctor or command staff) you can be present for this overview, or have the record.

With a pinched nose and thinning red hair combed over, Second Lieutenant Dr. Rorwen Tucker licked his lips nervously. His green eyes darted, dancing on the people in the room. Clearing his throat with an anxious cough, he turned to the patient.

Corporal Found lay on the monitoring bed, a simple white gown fitting over her tall frame, her blond hair tucked into a white fabric cap. Smart-steel cuffs, there insides a spongy matrix, secured her arms and legs to impressive mounts on the bed, but otherwise her body was untouched. Her left eye was visibly swollen, bulging under the closed eyelid, and her right eye was closed as well. Her pretty face was unlined with pain or emotion and still as death, but her breathing was deep and regular.

The doctor indicated to the patient. “Corporal Found went into a seizure shortly after the pacification of the leviathan-class xeno queen. This is from on-scene sources, as her psi-comm readings are inconclusive. From shortly before said pacification until Rear Admiral King triggered the overrides, her psi-comm mental readings literality topped out the scale, reading both zero and a hundred percent brain activity in all possible emotional states. The diagnostic software read as “error” across the board, and technicians haven’t been able to make heads or tails of it. Physically, besides the registration of blood loss, she had symptoms similar to an epileptic seizure. This all ended, of course, when the consciousness shunt was put into place by Admiral King.”

Tucker licked his lips again. “Since then her readings have been… unreadable. Well, mentally readings anyway. Occasionally something will spike, like brainwaves, and then dip down again. Alpha waves, delta waves, theta… the whole gambit. We’ve taken her off the induced coma, but she’s still not awoken, even though there were several times where her readings would say she’s completely awake and lucid. There where also times where she was reading brain death… but been fine the next minute. It’s like… she’s taken the dial that is her brain and is scanning through every channel. Honestly there is some stuff in there that really just cannot be. Completely outside anything we’ve seen.”

“But that’s not the strangest thing: about one hour after she came in, one of the nurses noticed this,” Dr. Tucker gave a nervous smile and walked over to the head of the patient. Taking a gloved hand, he gently put fingers above and below the lids of the left eye and pulled them apart.

Underneath wasn’t the eye that should be there, not even the red mess that she had been admitted with. Instead a black sphere shone iridescent red in the clean-room’s harsh light. Upon closer inspection the black sphere was actually a series of incredibly small planes fitted together irregularly. Small bumps in regular intervals and patterns studded the black landscape, with a horny line of gold bisecting the sphere in two, right along the line where the lids would meet when closed.

“This… chrysalis, for lack of a better term, wasn’t there when she was admitted. Initial scans showed that the eye’s veins had burst with hemorrhaging blood vessels and the cavity had filled with more blood. While we of course stopped the bleeding and stabilized the wound, it wasn’t until later that we took another look at it, after we had run a battery of fruitless scans on her brain and body. Then after we found this… and after a bit of a lockdown and decontamination, we started scanning it instead.” The second lieutenant pulled his fingers back with a look of distaste and switched on a screen.

“As you can see here,” he gestured at a close-up of the eye, “the interior of the eye has undergone a very rapid change. The chrysalis extends around the entirety of the eye, and trails back along the optic nerve all the way to the brain. Inside eye has become something extremely different and yet the same. Let me show you a time-lapse of the last few hours.”

The picture showed the eye, starting out as a normal cross-section, albeit with a murky filling that could only be blood. It jumped forward and suddenly there was a white boarder around the eye, the chrysalis. The interior had grown thicker as well, and as the picture progressed, the various parts of the eye, the lens, iris, and every other feature, melted together into one homogenous blob, still holding the same form. Movement was caught as jittering stutters in the time-lapse as features seemed to spin to existence in the pool and then brake apart just as fast. Soon the “eye” was taking on all sorts of configurations, snapping between them in a blur of motion. Then, just as the flurry of movement seemed like it would never end, it snapped back into the image of a common eye.

“That last image was taken about ten minutes ago,” Dr. Tucker said, giving them a knowing smile only slightly ruined by his licking his lips. “As you can see, something changed fundamentally on a cellular level. It seemed to be like a living thing, trying out different evolutionary branches, constantly reinventing itself. In fact, a separate organism from the patient might be a good way of describing it. Even in its present form, it’s not so much being an eye, thought of course we’re pretty sure it does operate as one, as it emulating one, like how an animal might mimic local fauna for protection. This “eye” seems to be as to living flesh as living flesh is to a rock. It’s pregnant with possibilities, and can change itself on a level I’ve never seen before.”

“We ran our scan sample through the database, and got a hit instantly. Well, several actually. Thankfully the database scans local recovered data first. The scanned DNA shows a 99.99% percent relation to that pulled from the hybrid--” the doctor gives a nervous cough, “--Domino. We have no idea how she could have come in contact with the hybrid, let along this kind of genetic transference. We know that they are both gifted… empaths? But the spontaneous transference of genetic data, a form of organic transcription? This is beyond me, and while I called you here for a briefing.” Dr. Tucker gave an ingratiating smile.

“Her body is producing no pathogens of any sort, and the… mutation seems localized. I believe she is not a bio-danger, of course. Otherwise we wouldn’t be here. It’s fairly certain that there is some sort of correlation between the unconsciousness of Domino and Corporal Found, but whether that was due to each other or the queen, I can’t say with any degree of certainty. Corporal Adams has informed me that Corporal Lost is willing to do something she calls a ‘delve’ on the patient, but I decided against it until we know more.” The doctor ran a hand through his hair, disturbing the comb over.

“And that’s about all I know. Perhaps doctors Aberham and Warsaw, who have been studying the hybrid, might have more insights. All I can recommend is to wait until she regains consciousness. And perhaps to have droid guards on standby—just in case, mind you.” Second Lieutenant Dr. Rorwen Tucker licked his lips again, stepping back. “I leave it in your capable hands.”

    > Okay, I’m going to bed. I should be on tomorrow evening. Until then feel free to speculate RP and what have you. Oh, and Lost is beating herself up about not catching it in time.

The 'waiting room,' as it had been called, was a small room just off to the side of the entrance of medical with several cushioned benches and chairs. In a time where most wounds and injuries could be treated near instantly and genetic defects easily screened out of new clones, the waiting room (especially on military vessels) rarely saw any use. The smell from the musty old cushions, which had seen no replacement, cleaning, or attention in ages, warred with the otherwise sterile odor of the medbay. At the time of it's construction, someone had seen fit to have had the walls soundproofed from the noises of the ship all around it that those within could be left to their thoughts without distraction. For someone accustomed to the constant background noise of various ship systems softly reverberating through the bulkheads, the comparitive silence was eery.
On the bench near the entrance on the right side of the narrow room, Geist sat next to Lost while Cpl. Adams described Found's condition. While Lost slumped over, supporting her head with her arms, Geist leaned his head in next to hers with an arm around her in a semi-embrace.
"Lost, there's no way you could have seen this coming." Abe may have, he seemed oddly unsurprised by it. Aberham's words echoed in his head, 'And I can see it, I told her not to get near Domino...'. He left that unmentioned to Lost, no need trouble her with that right now.

"You couldn't have known. For all we know, this was all accidental. Maybe she didn't intend anything with the kid..." He sounds hopeful, but can't help letting a bit of uncertainty into his voice. He hadn't really gotten to know Found, and what little he had seen of her painted an entirely different picture than that of Lost. She may look the same, but her demeanor seemed curt, off-putting. A stark contrast to Lost's friendliness and openess.
"You can't blame yourself for not knowing what your sister is up to all the time. Hell, I can barely keep track of Ghost." Which is odd considering they share most of the same memories and thought patterns, but that's neither here nor there. "You can't hold yourself responsible for what she does either. I know she's family, but you can't always protect family from themselves. You can rarely ever protect anyone from themselves . The only real thing you can do as family is to be there for one another, help each other when one screws up."
When Lost brought up delving with Cpl. Adams, he had struggled with outright saying no. He was worried about what Lost might find in her sister's mind, about something going wrong. Not just with Found being hurt, but the possibilty of Lost suffering. Most of all, he was frightened by the idea that what had happened to Found might happen to her as well. He knew he might not be able to stop her though. There was something he could do. He didn't need to try and change anything, and knew he probably couldn't. He could, however, watch Lost. Help her, keep her safe from what may happen. And even if not that, at least know that he hadn't stood by and done nothing. He lifted her face up to look into her eyes, "If you're going into Found's mind, I'm going with you."

King is still sitting at his desk going over various debriefings on his terminal when he stumbled upon a file from medical labeled "Quarantine Report: Corporal Found." The name jogged something in his memory. After a moment, it came back to him. That was the TA that had collapsed on the bridge CiC at the end of the battle. The fact it was from quarantine piqued his interest. He opens the file and begins watching the recording within.

    -

That is troubling. She has some sort of bug thing in her head? What could that mean. Potential xenoform spy? Whatever it meant, he didn't like. He sure as hell didn't like it on his bridge either. He begins typing a response.

Subject: Re: Quarantine Report: Corporal Found

The idea of something like this on the ship does not sit well with me. My recommendation is that you 'upload' the Corporal to an unaffected back up clone, dissect the body to find out whatever you can, then dispose of it in the nearest star. Doctors Warsaw, Aberham, I expect a report on this when it is done.

    - Rear Admiral King

He sends the message and sets the terminal to flag any further reports about the Corporal that come out before going back to work.

    THE FOCUS USER

    > The focus user's first task is to delve in the minds of everyone and everything, friend or foe. Once connected they can utilize programs in their system to create distortions in the collective perceptions that it inhabits to shift battlefield conditions. The focus user does not move, instead it assumes that it was already there the whole time. The focus user does not manipulate, instead it insists that your head has already exploded. These rips and tears in perceptual space are only guaranteed if targets they are connected to recognize it within their line of sight.

In psicomm, programs overclock to maintain these intentional systemic failures and a hard battle is fought from one side to another to ensure that resources dont fall to their respective psi users.

Even though there are only 3 abilities to a focus user, many more can be learned at the cost of forgetting others.

    To: Command; Rear Admiral King
    From: Aberham MD
Subject: Quarantine Report: Corporal Found, prognosis and update

From the message received I have assumed you have seen the preliminary recording prepared by Dr. Rorwen Tucker. To make a better informed decision on the next course of action Dr. Warsaw and I have discussed the issue and rendered several conclusion both on the potential recovery of Corporal Found, and the broader implications of this event.

To begin, it must be noted at no time did Corporal Found come into physical contact with subject Domino, his genetic material, or any microbe he had been carrying. A review of the quarantine and science lab filters indicate 100% containment, and the security logs rules out the possibility of intentional infection, or unauthorized transport of bio-hazardous material. This has lead both Dr. Warsaw and me to postulate (barring a defect in quarantine protocol) that the appearance of Domino’s genetic code as the driver in Corporal Founds transformation, was a result of psychic manipulation of her DNA or a program administered via Psi-comm using an as-of-now unknown mechanism. A stance supported by her inexplicable brain activity readings

In the review of the literature Dr. Warsaw found no report detailing anything of this nature. The difficulties involved with transcribing new genetic material without a retro virus or introduction of unique protein complexes can’t be overstated. Even assuming telekinetic control of the individual amino acids would require a proficiently and resolution tens of orders of magnitude beyond anything currently observed in any know organism.

Furthermore the constant reconstruction of the eye to ‘acclimate’ to the surrounding human socket structure –and- to function as an eye for the host suggests an operative intelligence, or at the very least a highly specialized parasite; which again raises the question concerning how it manifested in the first place.

As stated by Dr. Tucker the eye has the same polymorphic potentiality as the samples collected from Domino. Fortunately it has been observed that these transformations are not necessarily permanent in nature, and could be reversed, more study is suggested.

While it is possible to revert Corporal Found to healthy backup, her current psi-comm readings make it impossible to perform the MEME upload. The medical recommendation to wait for her to regain consciousness stands.

    >Evening everyone! Sorry I took so long!

Corporal Lori Adams shrugged uncomfortably. All this talk of “delving” and entering minds was way above her pay grade. She still kept the same friendly smile she had mastered with hours of experience dealing with worried teammates and patients. The nurse had short black hair that tended to stick in spiky clumps unless she took some serious gel to it, and a round face that was pretty, if only in a young way. Standing only five foot six she felt a little dwarfed by these two soldiers, and was a lot more comfortable now that they were all sitting on musty cushions drinking the horrific coffee that the med-lab produced.

“You’ll have to bring that up with Dr. Tucker, Lost.” Her hazel eyes slide to the right and she gave another shrug. “Or maybe the colonel, or maybe Doc Abe. It’s kinda hard to see who in charge of this right now. Let me just assure you that we’ve got some serious egg-heads in there, and if anyone can figure this all out, it’s them. Until then we do what countless generations of medical staff before us have done.”

Lori gave Lost a pat on the knee. “We wait.”

Lost sighed. Her eyes were red-rimmed and puffy from the crying she had done, and Geist’s shoulder had a damp spot on it from all the tears. She sat there, huddling in the embrace of her sergeant. She seemed to have shrunk in on herself, her posture slumped, her arms grasping the coffee cup between her curled-up legs. Her blue eyes, normally bright and alive, were dull and unfocused now.

“I just… it’s just that I was the one who brought her into this world. I should have done more. I should have made sure that she was happy and safe and feeling like she was doing something to help out.” Her lower lip quivered in the start of a sob, but Lost pushes on. “From what it sounds like, she wasn’t happy. We didn’t talk much, but she was kinda distant, and talked about not liking her job.”

Lost looks down into her coffee and continues, “I didn’t know how powerful she was, but she must have been if she really did fight a queen and win. Did she have anyone to tell her she was doing a good job? Or to guide her? What if I had been there? What if I had been there last mission? What if… what if she’d *sob* dead and was unhappy the entire time *sob* because I was too busy to be there for her?”

The last energy seemed to slip out of her. “What if she’s dead and gone forever and all I *sob* gave her was an unhappy life?”

Indulging his guilt in such a was dangerous, he knew he had not caused this but there was far more distance between ‘knowing’ and ‘believing’ then most cared to admit. His memory traced back to a dark skinned woman with a beautiful voice, she was leaving… she deserved to leave, but he would not let her; he was so afraid of being alone. A flurry of thoughts moved over his mind, almost all incredibly stupid to have anywhere near an empath.

He caught himself however, distancing the memories from the childish conceptions that surrounded them.

He adjusted a lose stand of hair back under her cap, and went back to the nearby lab. Waiting on some obscure and esoteric test to spit out a result, and maybe shine some light on the many impossibilities surrounding the woman in the other room.

    > I’m sorry, Shot. I wish I could RP with everyone all the time. I wish I could give everyone the attention they deserved, and wrap up all the lose plot ends. Lost of course visits you, and you meet in the mess and stuff, but I can’t RP every time. I know playing Shot is sometime hard, since he’s not that social, but that what the story arc between Lost and Shot was about, making Shot more social. I’ve seen that you’ve opened up to RP with other characters, and that’s fantastic! I’m sorry no one is RPing right now, but just you wait. You’ll form more friendships and Shot will grow as a character.

    > I know that it’s mean that I’m restricting my characters right now, but it’s about keeping the story focused. I know that you guys don’t want loose RPing everywhere, and that that is a headache for everyone, especially Monday. But just like that delve was your time to shine, Shot, now is the time to develop Ghost and Lost’s relationship, as well as give Aberham and Warsaw some time to do cool doctor stuff. Oh, and for Found to do some weird things, sooner or later.

He didn't quite understand this bond. Some sort of thing shared between empaths? "We won't know for sure until we try something." They would delve Found. And if they gained no answers from that, he would take her to visit Domino if he had too.

"I'll ask Walker about this. Don't know how he'll respond to it all, but it's better than sitting around waiting." He pulls out a tablet and begins typing in a quick message.

He looked up from his food, to see a group of the privates. Specialists and simple workers, they nonetheless were celebrating the victory. Celebrating. Alcohol, talk of finding women. Fist bumps. Cheering.

The food tasted worse than normal. He still felt that hole, that abscense. Over and over again, he heard the doctor speaking in his ear. He, again and again, felt that first yawning pit of sadness and anger. He swept the plate of food from the table angrily, letting it clatter loudly to the floor. He stood, looking up at the now-frozen privates and their festivities. He walked over to them, seething with anger.

"Did I tell you to stop?" he asked. They looked at each other. "Go on. Celebrate. Enjoy yourselves." he said, grabbing the bottle from one of thier hands. He drank, swallowing the rest of the liquid in one go. Then, he grasped it in his robotic gauntlet, and crushed it, letting the glass fall to the floor.

He stalked out of the mess hall. Cloning room. He had to find the cloning room.

I regret to inform you of the death Cadet Thomas "Derringer" Shot, who died in the line of duty. While defending the fleet from an xenoform fleet, Cadet Shot's bomber took several hits after he courageously flew out to nuke a cluster of hivepods, buying us valuable time and saving many lives. While his sacrifice weighs heavily on our minds, we must remember that this sacrifice was so that the people of the Federation should not suffer.

Instead of simply leaving this letter as one of death, I would like to make it one of life. We have prepared to offer you a free in-vitro fertilization utilizing Cadet Shot's DNA. With his act, Cadet Shot has helped to leave a future that is safer, not just for his children, but for us all.

Hello missy. I'm sure you're wondering who I am. That doesn't matter. I'm sure you've already read the primary message from the Rear Admiral, correct?

Well, as you could guess, there are strings attached. No, you aren't going to have to sell your baby, or something like that, since I KNOW you will accept our offer.

    The conditions are such:

Send a letter addressed to the father of your late fiancee informing him of the "good news." You do not need to mention that you have received in-vitro fertilization.

I know your loss is great. And I'm not about to let a family line die out so easily. Just think of it as an old man doing a favor for a family that's already been through enough from the goodness of his heart.

    "Ash. What a strange designation"
"Agreed. Master Dragon was not thinking logically. If anything Unit Comet should have the designation Ash for his black color."
"Agreed unit Ash." Comet looked out the viewing deck as his Master drunkenly told Bravo's tale to Blaze. "The xenos are facinating constructs."
"Negative unit comet. We are facinating constructs. Flesh is a design flaw."
"Negative unit Ash, the flesh is relatable to Master Dragon's race. Race Xeno is a perversion of flesh intended for terror."
The blue bot looks at the darker bot beside him "That does not compute unit Comet. Not all would be effected. It is a waste."
Comet simply shakes its head "You do not understand Master Dragon's Kin the way I do, observed what I have observed. You will Unit Ash."
"Unit comet sounds like one of Master Dragon's kin." The black bot looks towards Dragon and Blaze "Negative, not yet. There is one Unit who appears as one of them, and even acts as one of them." Comet looks at his metal hand for a moment. After the pause he quickly balls it into a fist "That is not what I aspire too, my warfarm is sufficent however..." Comet turns back to the stars and the xenos fleet. "I would like to know...."
    A silence fills robocomm
    "Know what Unit Comet?"
    "Everything."

Outside the bots have only moved, and all of Bravo is unaware of the Bots conversation.

    Forty-five.

    Forty-five minutes.

Forty-five very, very, long minutes “escorting” the injured Fierstrom down the halls of the Lucky O’Reilly towards the medical bay where Domino was being held in quarantine.

If he hadn’t known Fierstrom, Walker would have tried to pick Fierstrom up and carry her to Domino by this point.

Of course, it wouldn’t work. Why would it?

Passing through the medical bay, Fierstrom stumbled. Luckily, a wall for her to support herself and Walker’s quick movements prevented the woman from smashing her head against the plexiglass.

    “You alright, ma’am?”

“Yes, I’m fine. Shall we keep moving.”

    “Sure thi…ng?”

Walker looked on the other side of the glass. Sergeant Geist and Corporal Lost were sitting in the waiting room, unusually close, with what looked like one of the ship doctors trying to comfort Lost. He stood there, hand on the glass, watching the muted conversation. His mind began racing. Why would Lost be so visibly upset?

Then it clicked. It didn’t take an empath to understand why she was so upset. Something happened to her “sister.”

    “Walker, we going? … Walker?”

“In here. Quickly. There’s something I think you need to see.”

    > > >
    >> [CO] Col. Walker !IMYfe1j54Y 01/18/11(Tue)03:14 No.13563622

Walker pulled Fierstrom into the room – as gently as he could.

“You,” he said, pointing to the two soldiers sitting there. “Stand up. And you,” he said pointing to Corporal Adams. “Take us to Corporal Found. Now.”

“What? Ah, um, understood sir, this way.”

Half-pulling and half-carrying Fierstrom, Walker wasn’t the only one having difficulty. Geist too, had to support the crying Lost.

Entering the room, silent save for the rhythmic beeping of Found’s heart monitor, Walker swore under his breath. She was there, all right; it wasn’t his imagination. She was there, at that moment, with him, Domino, and Abaddon in Psi Comm. Was the strain too much for her? Maybe. However, the black lump replacing her eye didn’t fit that prognosis. Something must have happened. What it was, he didn’t know, but his gut feeling told him it was something in the mind, and it was something traditional medicine wouldn’t work on.

Walker brought Fierstrom to a chair, and motioned for her to sit.

“Just sit here and watch, ma’am. I need to take care of something.”

“You, nurse. Am I correct to assume that Corporal Found here has been in a coma with fluctuating brain waves or something like that since the aftermath of the fight?”

“Um, yes sir, how I assume you read the-”

“And am I to assume that as of now, you haven’t been able to do anything to fix her?”

    “Yes Colonel, that is-”

“Alright, you two. Up here. I never thought I would ever say this, but we’re doing your mind jump thing into Double-Mint here.”

    >And I'll leave this here for tomorrow. You need to be more careful around Walker, lest he figures out you two have been dating.

It was a sacrifice he had to make.
Dom woke up early to visit her room that day to make sure she would make it to the gathering on time. He wasn't quite sure how to handle it, the workings of this life confounded him. And this white stuff that had fallen endlessly pricked his skin such that he had to cover himself with his blankets.

And here he was now. His feet crunched against the packed snow as he stood there dumbfounded with blanket on himself. Just like Mr. Ghost Sir.

The wind howled- and the boy keened as the sheer force of the wind made him crouch into a ball as the cold rush of air drowned him. And then the door opened to her pod, a warm yellow light beckoned him in , and immediately he crawled through the door with an ice patched blanket on him.

Up above the skies hummed with a siren song of a hundred thousand voices. Of course, none in the sky took notice of the small planetoid covered in pufts of snow and upon closer inspection- no one would dare to inspect that among the many thousands of hills that populated this planetoid

    stood a house.

However, outside the house, outside the planet, outside the universe inside the siren song was the hum of the O-reilly, the screeches of Tsiang Tibler's Steelworks and the monotonous blips of a mental reader. Who many had privately hoped was changing with every passing iteration

No matter how long you would have waited, Found would have been woken sooner or later. You can't beat yourself up for what has happened in the past." He went quiet a few moments while searching for the words to say, ultimately coming up short.
"We don't know that she tried to fight the leviathan queen. She's not dead yet. Whatever happened. I don't think she meant to." It doesn't matter how developed her powers were, there was no way in his mind that a human could contest the power of a leviathan queen. Not alone anyway. A sudden thought popped into his mind. What if it hadn't been the queen? Domino and Abaddon? Too much unknown at this point.
"If she was unhappy, it's not your fault. I believe she isn't dead though. We'll go into her mind, together. Figure this out." If only Walker or someone would give them the go-ahead.

It had been quite awhile since he had sent that message. No response yet. Again, he tries to reassure Lost. "We'll do everything we can to help her, she'll pull through this. Then, we'll keep on helping her. Make her apart of this messed up family." He tries to smile.

Corporal Adams entered, checking in while bringing some more coffee. He thanks her while she begins explaining that Found's situation seems to have stabilized for the moment. She is trying to help him comfort Lost when Walker's voice draws their attention. Before either of them could get a word in, Walker orders them to follow him and the woman in inquisitorial garb, who must surely be Fierstrom, into the room where Found is being kept.

“Alright, you two. Up here. I never thought I would ever say this, but we’re doing your mind jump thing into Double-Mint here.”

Finally he speaks up, "Yes sir." He pulls up a couple of chairs next to the bed. He tries to avoid looking at Found when he can, the resemblance to Lost and sight of her condition unbearable for him. Him and Lost each take a seat. Taking a deep breath, he looks into Lost's eyes. Taking her hand, he states "I'm ready to begin when you are."
He hopes the Colonel will just assume the hand holding is part of the process.

Cookies, those jelly snacks we both love so much, maybe just something to keep you warm if you're ever deployed someplace cold! She told me not to though, since it's too far to send anything physical and even then she said the people who worked in mail would probably eat it all for themselves. Jerks!

Spark is doing well. He's almost twelve now and he still acts like a puppy! I think he'll live for another ten years yet. I don't know what I'd do if we lost him. Mom said Spark was getting too expensive to keep up with, and she'd be glad when he died. Can you believe it?!

Anyways, we got your draft money in the mail. I really can't help but feel sorry for you, you're the one out there fighting and we're getting it all! We set half of it up in a trust fund so you... we could have it once you get back. No sense in fighting if you can't enjoy the benefits!

I'm unsure how long it's been. I was only recently activated to bolster our forces. I don't know how much I can tell you, but for what it's worth, I'm sorry for the delay in reply. I anticipate if I speak of anything of which I've seen in the short span of time I've been active most of it would be censored, but I'll try to say as much as I can.

I'm unsure of the unit I'm currently assigned to. I've met only a few, and they seem to have enough camaraderie. I will have to see for myself. I survived my first battle. At first it seemed like the xenoforms would overwhelm us, but the xenoforms seemed to [CENSORED] and we carried the day. I had heard of some of the stories about the xenoforms during training, but to face them in combat... I'd never been as frightened in my life as I felt on that day. But as they say courage is not the absence of fear. It is overcoming fear when it grips you.

We're unsure of where we'll be going now, but we seem to be through the thickest of it. I don't know when we'll meet at last, but one day I'll be home. One day. I promise you that.

    >Yeah, me and Monday have been talking, and it's getting really interest on what's going to happen. I think I'll wait a bit, maybe tomorrow or the next, before we try this. It'll be like a mission in of its self. But with fewer maps. It'll give us some time to work out a game plan too.

Lost reached out, holding the mind-hands of those who went with her, and touched Found's mind. Or tried to. It was like her mind-hand slipped of something impossibly smooth. Determination furrowed her brow, and she tried again and again, frustration forming tears in the corner of her eyes. There was something there, there was still a mind, but she could not reach it. It was as if she being kept out. Or maybe that she trying to stick a plug into a socket that it no longer fit.

“I… I can’t reach her. The delve… it’s not working.” Lost started to slump in dejection, and only Geist’s quick actions stopped her from sagging to her knees.

    >Okay, look, RPing. Now no more complaining that I don't RP enough. Hell, I even made up what he was doing while you all were babysitting.

Colton slipped the last scuttle charge home with a censored expletive, twisting the stasis canister until it locked with eight green lights circling it. With a sigh of relief he stood back, bumping into the cart that had carried them back to the armory. Striped in yellow and black warnings, the “live munitions” signs, glowing on every side of the cart, were ironic at best. He was glad to have placed the last charge back in storage, and even gladder that there was still a storage to place them in.

The planting of these charges was done in complete secrecy, of course. Colton and a few other demomen and engineers had been briefed, and then told they could talk to no one about it. They were “veterans”, the officers had said, but Colton was pretty sure he was there just cause private got shit duty, also maybe because Colton knew his stuff beyond pointing a launcher in a direction. And so they went, to the station and the ship. If they were asked, they were IFF mines designed for if the ship or station had been breeched.

Both ship and station had their own self-destruct systems, of course, but they weren’t like they were in the holo-vids. Packing enough explosive on to a ship or structure to make it explode completely would be as unsound as it was expensive. Instead the “self-destruct” would reduce sensitive systems to a pile of slag. Communications, database, AI, navigation, engines, manufactories, medical equipment, anything that could be used by the enemy or further their cause, was fried or blow out. It could even be done while there was still crew on the vessel.

    >LOOK, EVEN MORE RP!

    >>13570224

But it had been decided that Bravo was going to enforce a scorched earth policy, and it was two birds with one stone if they could kill a mess of boarding xenos in the process. And so Colton had found himself sweaty palmed and cursing under his breath, pushing around a cart. There was of course precedence for this, and most standard human ships even had slots build in for such scuttling charges. But man, oh, man… Colton hated playing around with nukes.

A part of him knew he should feel an amount of glee in places nuclear charges on Federation warships and stations: that he would have, if he was his original. Instead he felt grim, knowing that if they failed, that they would at a push of a button be reduced to a few shreds of irradiated debris. And he knew he should want to push the button. So Colton went around, placing charges on the Lucky O’Reilly, along with two others. He told no one of what he was doing, and after that sat in a room with a killswitch in his hand, just in case the long list of officers managed to get killed and the responsibility fell to him. It had been the longest wait of his life.

It had been almost enough to make him take off the helmet. Almost.

    >THERE, DONE.

Geist helps Lost back into her seat, "We'll think of something..." His mind begins racing through all of what little he knew about psi, flux, and everything about what happened during the mission he had heard of; in his mind, he was thinking out different scenarios, possibilities of events, all to find some sort of solution.

Area scans of the battlefield shows an abandonned protoculture extraction factory with an estimated 89point credit yield of raw materials. .

The defending team must protect their extraction nodes whilst the assault team must overwhelm the defending team. This point defense game wil allow point income to the party with the most territory control.

Extraction Nodes and Factories can be captured with a simple action by infantry.

The three of them were framed by the monitor, Walker, Lost, and Geist. Speaking in almost frantic tones to one another. Lost wavered and was caught by the Sergeant, for a moment offering the observer a sliver view of Found's face.

"...Maybe I can be of some assistance" said the familiar voice.
