“The dawning of the third age was heralded by the birth of the twin gods Ysla and Mir, gods of war, gods of conflict, gods of change. They were born from the intermingling of Dumarov Raceforger, Successor of Jorlek Worldsmith, Father to Many, and the first King of the Yslamites, Yslamir.

    Ysla the Mighty Conqueror King

    Mir the Formidable Lord Protector

The twin inheritors of Dumarov’s power looked forth upon the world, and found it wanting.

I, Urtep Domenglower, have been tasked with the Chronicle of this time, of the struggles faced not just by our people, but our cousins and the children of the Stagnant Ones.

I hope whosoever finds this tome in times to come does not find me as lacking as the Twins of Triumph did…”

“Our line of chieftains goes back for as long as any of us can remember,” The Wolf-Rider Wise Woman says as she rinses water from her braided hair, “The Mighty Father Wolf took pity on our ancestors, and taught us our nomadic ways, in harmony with the mighty packs of wolves that prowled the steppes. Our people lived in isolation, for a time, until we heard the mighty roar from the north, it told us that a reckoning was coming, a time of even greater tribulation than the days of the Great Sundering. The Twin Sons of the Father Wolf would soon come calling to our noble people, and then we would take our proper place as the force we were meant to be from the day we were created.”

    Three Races did Biybwab create.

The Eldest were the Sulagrod, called the Bloated Ones by outsiders. For they are immortal and continue to grow throughout their lives. They are also masters of Sorcery.

Second came the Grippli. Smaller and quick lived (4ft tall and live for about 40 years), they make up the majority of the amphibious empire. One in every 5,000 Grippli tabpole is born as a Sulagrod, and those are new bloated ones born

In the recent past armies of the Droopulipuli went South went south to terrorize the Sprites.

The Guildmasters and the Spell weavers quickly confer then the Tactician begans to march towards the coast that seperates them from the city that spawned their attackers.

The Spellweavers Gather and as one raise their cursed swords to the air and kiss them. Murmered words of the dark Torrmal and taken by the wind.

They move outwards. Halfway to the city the carpets begin to descend. This is all they shall do. A few carpets had tried to make off with their riders but the Sprite hordes that flew along quickly beat them back into line.

They marched towards the city then lay seige. The battle quickly became a stalemate as both sides were evenly matched. Unnoticed the Sprites which were not in battle clustered around the city-seed. They moved it to the center of the bay.

Then Yggdrasill's voice came from within.

    "Drop Me" He stated.

    The Sprites did as told.

And it fell. And fell. Crashing through planks and homes built on the waters of the Bay of Souls. Crashign through the waters made by the Great Breaking of the World.

And it finally setelled. In the place where the Great Bloated One Once gave his followers the gift of Sight. The gift of his Drool. And it drank. And began to grow.

    The Great Silence

For three hundred years, the six-sided Immutables gleamed with pulsating cyan light. For three hundred years, the energies of the Immutables shifted the landscapes, and left no person nor god untouched.

For three hundred years, the eerily perfect structures built against their great many kilometer wide bases stood silent, giving any god who looked upon them or the cubes a sensation of vertigo, of spacial sickness, of sinking confusion. For three hundred years, those gods who cared to touch the cubes in curiosity would feel something familiar stirring within those cold black bastions, familiar, yet strange, and wrong.

Then, at the dawn of the Third Age, something happened just as the races began to war.

The Immutables darkened, anemic cyan energies transmuted to insipid azure, which then radiated from the all nine cubes across the world in a great oscillation of abating light...

    ...And the gods went blind.

    For a time.

Then sight returned. They could once again see the world, but there were four blind spots. Ten kilometer diameter spheres of blindness centered on the Immutable cubes; clarity would be given if they focused through the spherical veil...

When attention was directed through those veils, they would find that the Oceans of Shape have been shifted. Where there was once a jumbling, sprawling geoscape of messily scattered platonic solids, they were now aligned and arranged according to some pattern directed by an unknown mathematical algorithm. Pyramids and cylinders floated in great moving formations in the sky, rectangular prisms and cubes were neatly stacked and arranged into gridlike planes, tetrahedrons piled up into pyramidal formations, icosahedrons which solidified from the rockface of great cubist cliff faces.

These new Oceans of Shape could only be peripherally called landscapes in that they were mathematical abstractions of the environmental features their creators sought to emulate.

Torrmal saw that the races were preparing to make war against eachother, and he approved. For war brought strife, and through that strife the survivors grew stronger. But the eldest of the Cursebearers asked him about all the knowledge that was lost as people died and cities burned. Torrmal told him it was not his domain to meddle in. Captcha then came up to him and asked why he would limit himself when no one else was able to stop him. Torrmal thought of this but did not come to any conclusion.

He watched the battles of the early wars take place but it gave him no more answers than his pondering. So he wandered the world and sat down near the Prime Immutable, studying it as it darkened, and as it blinded him. This was a complete surprise, but also an inspiration, blindness, it was a condition he hadn't considered and so he sent Captcha to find someone to give this new curse.

Captcha found the Sprites, living their carefree lives in the great Tree, she knew that Torrmal would approve of choosing a race such as them. She managed to lure some out of the tree and one by one she gave them Torrmal's new curse, the curse of blindness.

Ysal growled at this madness and walked among the serfs, it was time for rebellion, time for aggression, time for change.

The serfs were whipped into a frenzy, and in the dead of night fell upon their masters, slaughtering many of them in their beds and driving the survivors southward.

Content, Ysal began heading south, towards the lands of the Pygmy trogs.

Questioning the armies approached, rooming through empty streets and the ancient ruins of mighty temples. When they reached the bay at the center of the city they heard voices.
These were the voices of the most ancient of the Sulagrod, those lost in the worldquake, whose spirits resided in the Bay of Souls. They spoke of the horrors and wonders they had witnessed throughout their long lives, of the raise of Grum Palulum Padrum, the first city, and of its destruction and transformation into Grum Largah. They told of the Gods Biybawbs rages, and his sorrow at what his rage has caused.
“Let there be an end to this cycle of misery and destruction, let this mighty tree within the Bay of Souls be a symbol of a new time of peace.”

If the Cursebearer would take responsibilty for the dead, were it in his power to do so. The Cursebearer just nodded and Torrmal was finally sure of his decision. He agreed to the council of his Priest and his Avatar, Death was his concern. He had the power to become its master and to ensure that the knowledge of the dead was passed on to those strong enough to outlive them.

So he descended upon one of the battlefields and proclaimed loudly that War was cursed, all who fell in battle were his to do with as he pleased. As he did the souls of the dead rose at his command, waiting and wondering what their fate would be. But they would not have to wait long as Torrmal formed the land of the dead in his mind, a land looking like a shadow of the past, filled the memories of the world under a sky that's always grey but never still. When he was finished Torrmal turned to the souls and told them that if they had struggled in life, living with curses or in the harshest places the world have to offer, then the Land of the Dead would be welcoming to them. But if they had lived save, easy and carefree lives, then they would have to make up for it for the rest of eternity.

Mir went forth amongst the scattered villages of the Nortmen, saw the poverty they lived in, in constant struggle between tribes and clans. Theirs was a culture of misery and suffering, brought on by the power of Tormall's cursed metalworks.

Mir furrowed his brow, and found a solution:

For what was a curse but a blessing with a price.

He planted ideas in the minds of the Curseforgers, ideas for a great and terrible throne upon which the one true king of the Nortmen would sit.

Then Mir went to find such a worthy fellow. Looking all across the Nortish lands until he saw the great figure of Olaf the Unkneeling, warlord of the Shatttershield Clan standing over the carcass of a slain Titanophant.

Whispers were placed in Olaf's ears, promises of great power and wisdom if only he would unite his people.

With a lot of luck and a lot more manslaughter, Olaf did just that to find his reward in what would become his capital.

The throne was a mighty gilded thing that carried with it the enchantment of wisdom and seerlike abilities to guide his people all throughout his land, and most importantly immortality...

At the price of never leaving its confines. Ever. The gilded golden throne melded with his skin, trapping him within so that he would never see the glory of battle again.

Thus did Olaf the Unkneeling become Olaf the Ever-Living, First King of the Nortmen.

To further the cause of peace between his people and Damhnait’s, Biybwab commanded that the Droopulipuli leave the forest around Yggdrasill, and head south into the jungles. There they would build a new city. Seeing a land full of life to hunt and eat they named the city Grah Atogatog, City of Feasting.
Biybwab feared for the suffering of his souls of his people who would suffer for eternity if they did not suffer in life. At first he thought to preserve them as he had the ancients who had died during the world quake, but he knew that he could not contain all of those souls in any vessel for death was not his domain and could not craft a realm such as Tormal’s. But they he realized that the souls suffering might be ended another way.
As death was the domain of Tormal, life was the domain of Biybwab. So he sent his power into the Blood Tree at the center of the Bay of Souls, and extended the roots of the tree until they breached the realm of the dead. There they formed a great copse of ragged of thorny wood, at the heart of which was a hole through which a soul might climb and return to the land of life. The Journey through the woods would be hard, and the thorns would tear away the memories of the past life. Only then could the soul be reborn.
Then he sent his avatar to the Gillmen and had found an order in worship of him, the God of the Lifegiving water.

Some eddy within the octahedral fields was modulated. The fields became more distinguished, almost touchable. To brush against one was to feel resistance before being able to slide through to visit the alien world beyond.

Otherwise, there was no activity in the Oceans of Shape.

Torrmal watched as some of the dead chose to take the hard journey up the roots of the Tree of Rebirth and he approved. But then he realised that in doing so they left behind their memories, the very reason he created the Land of the Dead. It would not do for these memories to be lost forever, so he began to form a race of guardians to gather them. But before he could finish his Avatar stood by his side and offered to do it for him, he looked at her and nodded, letting her finish what he had started.

They were a race that had never lived, made in the land where there were only death and memories. Appearing like clean picked skeletons dressed in dark robes they wandered the Land of the Dead without saying a word. They had only two tasks, to collect the memories shedded by those who left the Land of the Dead, and to stop the living from intruding on the lands.

While Captcha finished these Grim Ones, Torrmal went to the Temple of Curses and taught them secret rituals that allowed them to contact the dead and learn from the knowledge they possessed.
