Best arrangement of a Tolkien song ever. The Dwarves' song in the upcoming hobbit movie is second, but this is the best by far.I listen to it every fucking day.
>>19481144That's The Tolkien Ensemble. You should know about them.OP is great. Best rendition of a Tolkein song.
>>19480588>I love this Game of Thrones song.God damn it /tg/, I know it was one of you.

Oh my dear this is amazing
have you all listened to more of this guy's music?here is one for all you lonely neckbeards out therehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_6uaYfAhfU&feature=relmfu
Guy's one hell of a bard; charisma stat is off the charts. Sounds great.

Bump because some things really do deserve bump.
>>19486408Amen brother.
>>19485703
>>19480766You know, Durin VII did retake Moria in the end. Maybe you could use that as a basis?
/tg/ this is why I love you more than anyone.
>>19480588Bumping for glorious music.
I wish I could play Guitar this nicely so I could quietly strum out relaxing jams while I narrate my games..
Anyone who ever shits on Bard as a class should be forced to watch this video under threat of violence.
>>19487732Don't strum then. Learn some basic arpeggios. That sort of thing is great for what you're looking for and not very difficult at all.
>>19487749Duly noted and thank you.
>>19486408There are no words.
>>19487749>>19487767Addendum: You'll want to use your nails for this as per classical guitar. They're not nearly as easy and usually don't sound as good if you try to do it with a pick, because you have only one pick but you have enough fingers that you can put one on each relevant string.
>>19487819Whoops, meant >>19485703
The next character I make is going to be a Bard. No matter the setting.
I vote that this guy goes into /tg/'s hall of heros.

Thanks OP, that was glorious.
Just made a dwarf bard.Give me some songs like this, or verses i can sing for spells and special occasions and such.Seems like a fun character to play.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ42cbnjMpMNot the same guy. Still fitting the thread.

Mother of God...Bumping this because it needs to be seen.
Oh my fuck yes.
That was amazing.
I honestly don't think I've ever seen /tg/ come down so ultimately on the side of any one thing before. The show of unity... it's glorious...
Fuckin' glorious!
This needs to become the official /tg/ theme song.
For any of you that want to keep it, use listentoyoutube.com. It's the best site I know of for ripping audio.
Damn it, next time I play D&D: Dwarven bard. An older, respectable gentleman, quiet, reserved, content to pluck his lute strings and sing a dirge to mourn glories long forgotten and smoke a nice pipe every now and again (not too often, mustn't burn the gullet). Not like those shameless human bards. Boorish rubes, the lot of them.

This needs to be sticked.>Also, the song itself: The world was young, the mountains green,No stain yet on the Moon was seen,No words were laid on stream or stoneWhen Durin woke and walked alone. He named the nameless hills and dells; He drank from yet untasted wells; He stooped and looked in Mirrormere,And saw a crown of stars appear,As gems upon a silver thread,Above the shadows of his head. The world was fair, the mountains tall,In Elder Days before the fallOf mighty kings in NargothrondAnd Gondolin, who now beyondThe Western Seas have passed away:The world was fair in Durin's Day.
>>19480588>Uploaded by colinjohnrudd on Oct 23, 2006>2006HOW THE FUCK!?HOW DID IT TAKE THAT LONG TO HEAR THIS?
>>19500300A king he was on carven throneIn many-pillared halls of stoneWith golden roof and silver floor,And runes of power upon the door. The light of sun and star and moonIn shining lamps of crystal hewnUndimmed by cloud or shade of nightThere shone for ever fair and bright. There hammer on the anvil smote,There chisel clove, and graver wrote; There forged was blade, and bound was hilt; The delver mined, the mason built. There beryl, pearl, and opal pale,And metal wrought like fishes' mail,Buckler and corslet, axe and sword,And shining spears were laid in hoard.
>>19500314Unwearied then were Durin's folk;Beneath the mountains music woke:The harpers harped, the minstrels sang,And at the gates the trumpets rang. The world is grey, the mountains old,The forge's fire is ashen-cold;No harp is wrung, no hammer falls:The darkness dwells in Durin's halls; The shadow lies upon his tombIn Moria, in Khazad-dûm.But still the sunken stars appearIn dark and windless Mirrormere; There lies his crown in water deep,Till Durin wakes again from sleep.

I just watched the entire lord of the rings trilogy today and came back to find this. You guys are awesome beyond words.
I always wanted to play a game of Dorf Fortress set at year 0, aka "play as the first dwarfs ever". But the game's not set to work that way by default. I can figure out how to set the year, but is there any way to mod for the "only dwarves in the world" thing? And your dwarves are the ones who get upgraded to kings, etc, and other dwarf places start developing only after you're established and such.
>>19510398This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but when Toady adds embark scenarios you will probably be able to found a new civilization like that.
>>19510398>I can figure out how to set the yearWhen picking what kind of world you create, Big region, pocket island, etc. edit them. There is destination year there. Set it on 1 or something.
Some of this man's music really hit home hard. Thanks for the music /tg/. Thanks.

This thread deserves a sticky'd postFilled with songs and strings and ghostsOf things that were, in darkest past,That may yet be, may come to pass,When sun and stars and moon burn outAnd daemons stir in warp storm clouds. We read the posts, We bump this thread,We share our songs to honored deadAnd living heroes, who in our placeWield staff and bow and sword and mace; Some venture forth to glory's callsSome end their life in darkened halls. But we remember, we forgetNot one of them, and here insteadWe fill this thread with minstrel songAnd epic tales, both short and longWe fight the sage, we ban the trollWe welcome players, role- and roll-,Until the wheel of time is throughAnd Durin walks the world anew.

Your thumb takes care of whichever of the three low strings the chord uses (although you can mix it up if you want, perhaps plucking 4 instead of 6 one of the times when E is twice in a row). Please feel free to ask more if this doesn't work for you.
