It's 298 AL. Jon Arryn has died after a sudden sickness, your lord Stannis Baratheon has returned to Dragonstone, and Ned Stark has come south to be named Hand of the King. You are Leonardo Bulwark, Lord of The Shell and The Maw, sworn foe to the Lyseni pirate Shraddar, Bannerman to House Baratheon and master of the strongest castle in the Narrow Sea. With your son Donatello, and your faithful servants Ser Casey and Maester Splinter, nothing can stand in the way of your rise to greatness. NOT ONE STEP BACK!First, you need to manage your house holdings. >>19489044Improve a holding, what options do we have for that, are those the stats like defense? If so get Wealth so we can get a smith later.
>>19489297Yeah, we only need two more Wealth to add an Artisan, so may as well go with the safe route and spend the first two improvements on that and then start doing fortune rolls.
Is this just using the Green Ronin ASIAF rules?
>>19489312I think so.
Need +1 to both cool but rude and party dude.
Sorry it took my a while, I abandoned thread until I saw the bunp>>19489297Sounds like a good plan. Your investments in the port and careful saving have grown the house's treasury. Wealth is now 29. Remember, at least one in three months you need to roll fortune. You also have the opportunity to convert holdings into each other, spending Influence to gain Law, Lands to gain Defense, Population to gain Power, Power to gain Influence, Law or Population, or 2 of Wealth for one of any. Right now you can't really afford to spend Lands or Power, as you've spent all your points of those. You can also spend 1 Wealth to improve the weapons or armour of a unit, or spend 4 or more wealth to hold a tourney, but right now I agree we should be saving our money. Plus, there's rumours that the King will be holding a Grand Tournament soon to celebrate the arrivalWhat are your plans?
Oh look, a whole front page of this stuff. This is why we need a /tgq/sage
>>19489415The system for this quest kinds confuses me.Also>turtle Quest: A Song of Ice and FireIs this quest based on the books? Because I haven't read them, you should write your quest bearing in mind that not everyone knows the source material. What is a fortune roll? What else can we do with influence?
>>19489415Thankfully we don't have to worry that much when we do the fortune role as we have a Maester and Port. Save the money, what do we have in terms of young knights who would like to prove themselves at the tournament, if we have a promising candidate we might want to send them out for that.
>>19489442For the time being, the story of the books will not concern us.All you need to know is that our liege-lord is a stonehearted grumbler and his fat, whoring brother sits the throne.Robert (the fat king) just made his old buddy, the honorable lord Eddard Stark his right hand and will continue indebting the kingdom with another needless tournament.
I think sommebody should post a link to the hose generation thread. I mean, it was archived, right?
>>19489465Our son Donatello, who killed his first man before he could grow a beard and once killed a shark with a jack-knife, is eager to show his valor, and a few of your House Guard want to travel with him to join the melee.
>>19489496Let them go to the Tournament, send someone clever and observant with them to keep an eye on them and the political climate in King's Landing.
>>19489503send our scheming maester?
>>19489517It's a bit much to send the Maester with, they tend to have duties to the Castle, and he takes care of the ravens and is very much useful here, but ask his advice for determining who should join him.
>>19489495>>19482419It didn't 404 yet
>>19489527We need immediate care and the best medical expertise, should our son get injured. So, sending the Measter seems a good idea. It's not for long and anyone can feed the ravens.
>>19489562and he'll be best at finding out the political situations and giving donatello counsel/keeping him from doing something stupid.
The Maester recommends a few young noblemen from the castle, and the one you choose is sent off with the party. They are only gone for a few days when a raven arrives from the west. It seems the nearby House Darrett has accused your men of being reavers, sacking a fishing village and killing the men. When a group of young nobles on the road taunted Donatello for supposedly killing unarmed smallfolk he beat them bloody. Inns shut their doors to your men, as Adham Darrett spreads these accusations before they arrive.
>>19489570Tell them that accusations without evidence are merely the tales of a lonely fishwife.
>>19489569Well, the Maester goes and he sent the raven. But yeah, it's not easy to stop Donatello from doing stupid things
>>19489583I believe a good disciplining is in order on his return.
>>19489570Well, fuck my life!Ok, they need to head to King's Landing immediately. The Maester is to get an audience with the Spider.Let's see if the fat eunuch can help us for a little coin and a favor. Also they are to think of similarly outragious rumors to spread in case Varys does not help. And no beating up strangers!
>>19489578People seem to trust the steady and stable Darrett over the hotheaded and scandalous Donatello. One drunk hedge knight even loudly boasts about how they wouldn't have gotten away with it if he were around, and that he just wiped out a whole camp of bandits and took their silver. That last part certainly seems true, he's been buying rounds for the tavern all night and has a giggling whore in his lap.I'm happy to switch the POV around between Donatello, Leonardo, Maester Splinter and Ser Casey as you want it.
>>19489611Let's play Maester...of muppets.
>>19489621JUST CALL MY NAME I'LL HEAR YOU SCREAM!
>>19489621The Maester is with Donatello at the tavern, and he's starting to argue with the knight. "You? You couldn't fight a camp of squirrels, old man. I could snap your puny arms with my little finger!" His father did tell you to keep him from further harming the House name, and it looks like he'll be doing something stupid again.
>>19489655Donatello is picking fights? Are you sure his name isn't actually Rafael?
>>19489655Young lord, please. If you mislike the lies spread about you, do not turn them into truths.
>>19489659Don't blame me, the guys who decided to make it House Turtle and the guys who decided the heir was a man killing sheep raping whisky drinking Scotsman were different people. In return, please accept this picture of our main livestock: the Justin Biebull.
"But this braggart is saying he could beat me, when he's just an old drunk."The hedge knight starts laughing. "Just an old drunk? Would the Fox Knight trust an old drunk with the shield? Would he trust an old drunk to make sure the rest wouldn't tell tales? I think not, little turtle.""Shove the shield up your arse. I wouldn't trust you to wash your own balls."
>>19489735perhaps a proper duel wouldn't tarnish our reputation. Certainly better than a drunken bar brawl
>>19489735Young lord, please. I think it's better not to oppose the man who just got the whole room drunk. And don't even think about a duel. You cannot trust these kinds. You might have a dagger in your guts before you can draw your sword. For the time being, just play along. One more drink and he might start slipping where he got that silver. I have a certain hunch.
Here is a layout of our territory(FUCK YOU CONNECTION ERROR LET ME POST THIS ALREADY SHIT)
>>19489748The balding and obese man suddenly looks worried."Duel? Duel? Forgive me, m'lord. I am in my cups and don't know what I'm saying. Excuse me."He lifts the now terrified whore from his lap, leaves a few Silver Stags on the table, and moves towards the exit. Donatello looks very proud of himself. The next day, you're awakened by screams of "Murder!". It seems someone slit the knight's throat as he slept and took his money pouch. After an hour of worry, everyone in town seems to accept it as the predictable result of showing so much coin.
>>19489803I hope no one points fingers to us.
>>19489813People don't trust you, but they know that House Bulwark is rich enough that its heir isn't going to kill a man over a handfull of silver. If anything, it's helped your standing as a few peddlars and journeymen are asking to travel with you and your armed band for fear of robbers in the Kingswood.
>>19489829That's cool.Perhaps we should accept, might improve our rep somewhat.
>>19489694Running a quest already? I thought we were still fluffing out stuff. Oh well.>>19489829How is our relations to the major Houses of the 7 Kingdoms? Do we have any connections to Qarth or any of the Free Cities? (or any spies within the markets of Vaes Dothrak?)
>>19489846Hey, it's not like we can't still come up with fluff, like for example our second child being a daughter called April. We're bannermen to the Baratheons, which may be good or bad as the Dannetts are too (though under Renly rather than Stannis.) We're supposedly Dornish emigres, so we probably like the Martells despite their loyalty to the Targaryens. We've probably got reasonable relations with the other Great Houses who fought on Robert's side as well.Odds are we do have contacts in the Free Cities, given our nemesis is Lyseni and we've got a trading port. I'm not sure about Vaes Dothrak, given how far inland it is, but we've likely heard rumours from Pentoshi sailors that the great Khal Drogo has wedded the sister of the Beggar King Viserys.
I'm not sure what to suggest now.Skip to something interesting?
>>19489829Let's accept that.>>19489888True enough.
>>19489888I see, moderate connections. I propose strengthening our connections with the Free Cities in the future. As for now, we need to send a representative, either a discrete one, or a full-fledged knight, to the fat-fuck kings tourney. Also, any specifics to the defenses of the Shell and Maw? Or are we sticking to the ones discussed on the earlier threads
>>19489829They are welcome to join. And a welcome opportunity to set the stories right. We need to come up with some bullshit about Darret, too.
>>19489918We've already sent our son.Although I don't really see why he should be travelling by land and not just take a ship directly to King's Landing
>>19489926The spoiled brat needs to get a whiff of travelling.
>>19489929Perhaps he'll get a good beating in the melee and learn some modesty.
>>19489926Oh I see, sorry.>Although I don't really see why he should be travelling by land and not just take a ship directly to King's LandingMore booze and bitches on land than on boat, maybe.
>>19489920We're better than thatRemember our Words. We will not devolve into a House of petty lies and slander.
>>19489914As in continue on to Kings Landing, then sure. As you walk through the forest, an arrow strike one of your soldiers, piercing his thigh. He drops to the ground screaming as two men in peasant clothes with shields and swords charge towards you. "DANNETT! DANNETT!".
>>19489960NOT ONE STEP BACK. Kill them all.
>>19489957That's why. Not one step back, resistance on all fronts. They give us shit, we give them just as much. We'll not just go hide in our shell.
>>19489945That, and Massey's Hook is in the way. The plan was for him to cut across it, cross the Wendwater and hire a ship from there.
>>19489960Murder the fuck out of the one and capture the other.Fuck you for incapacitating one of our men!
>>19489960Defensive formation, it's an ambush... most likely a provocation as well. Which means we'll want one alive to talk.
>>19489988>>19489984Good points. Do this.
>>19489983Thought we were by Dragonstone, so it would just be crossing Blackwater Bay.
Attack roll!Donatello's Claymore: 4d6, keep the highest 3.Splinter's Staff: 2d6As you move to meet the woefully armed attackers, Donatello is struck by an arrow, which sticks into his left arm
rolled 5, 6, 1, 2 = 14>>19490016Donnies rolls.
>>19490000Nah, I think we were supposed to be about halfway between there and Tarth.
rolled 1, 1 = 2>>19490022Fucking bellcurve.>>19490016And here are Splinters
>>19490030Martial Arts master this Maester ain't.
The first attacker strikes Donatello, but it glances off his armour and he's quickly cut down by him and the guard. The second manages to block Splinter's attack. His blow swings wide and he stumbles, giving another guard the opportunity to cut him. He cries out in pain and yells "Damn you cowards!" towards the trees where the shots came from.
>>19490026Still stand by my opinion, in medieval times travel by waterway is comparatively taking the express plane. Even if it is only crossing a short piece of land, add to that that it relies on us being able to find a ship once we're on the other side.
>>19490083Don't follow. Search the dead man. There may be something of interest on his body.
>>19490094Well, keep the guard up in case the cowards decided to change their mind. Also, the Maester should check if we can still help the wounded guard.
Do we have archers with us?
>>19490112I don't think so. Just some Personal Guard.
Roll 4d6 and drop the lowest for the Healing ability test.Donatello's injury doesn't feel too bad, but you can't really tell until he gets his armour off.The dead man has a few trinkets and a bit of coin on him, as well as a letter. It states that they have been hired as soldiers for House Dannett. The signature is pretty obviously not Alfric Dannett's, and the sigil pressed into the wax seal is an obvious fake.
rolled 3, 3, 6, 5 = 17>>19490141
rolled 5, 4, 4, 4 = 17>>19490141Someone want's us out of the way. I wonder who...
rolled 2, 6, 3, 2 = 13>>19490141Hm, either someone is trying to frame Dannett, these are only bandits using Dannett as a scapegoat, or Dannett is hiding behind the obvious fakery.
Donatello has a bow with him and some arrows. You've got three guards with you, one of whom can't walk without help
>>19490141So this was a frame job.Keep the letter as evidence.
>>19490156We don't know how many of the bastards they have. We need to move.
>>19490141We should bring the fake letter and the peasant with us, at least to a major House Dannet holding, they'll likely want to investigate this shit.Or bring it up at the tournament.
>>19490164A frame job that we could use to our advantage in the future if we ever end up in a feud in House Dannett.
>>19490144The Maester cleans and bandages the wound, and says that it should heal well as long as he stays off it for a week. Your party continues onwards, and soon you reach the coast. A galley with the Bulwark Turtle on its sails is just off shore, with Lord Leonardo waiting to travel with you the rest of the way to King's Landing. You should arrive well before nightfall.
>>19490193Onwards to Kings Landing then.
>>19490166Right. Lets leave these woods ASAP.
>>19490168Damn. This is the first Quest Thread I've done, so I'm not used to waiting for responses. If you guys want to track down the guy who ran off, go for it. It's a 2d6 roll to track him, and you need 3 or more since he's just running and not covering his tracks
>>19490193This week on parental Control:
rolled 2, 3 = 5>>19490217Why the fuck not. The boat isn't going anywhere.
>>19490254You catch up with the man and he quickly yields. He says he serves Lord Alfric Dannett and that they hoped to capture Donatello to ransom as restitution for the raid on their fishing village, but the archers and swordsmen who were supposed to join the attack ran off.
>>19490285Drag him with us. Carrying out an attack like that without any back up took balls. And someone raided their fishing village? Did they see an emblem?
>>19490217>he's just running and not covering his tracksNot the most professional of ambushers this one>>19490285I doubt the Dannetts would hire someone as incompetent as this. Intimidate him, threaten to make cuts all over his balls and drag him behind the ship to King's Landing or something.>What do we need to roll for intimidate?
>>19490285Cut him more! He's LIEING.Dannet wouldnt send woefully underarmed men after us, this has to be a trick. But who would set a false flag at-Wait.Shradder.
>>194902974d6, keep the top three.Donatello has 3 for Persuasion, and gets the bonus die for his reputation.>>19490296He claims that the brave young Adham Dannett chopped off the hand of one of the attackers, along with their shield bearing the Turtle of Bulwark.
rolled 5, 6, 6, 4 = 21>>19490328"You'll tell us what we want to know, or you'll Beg me to stop after you've lost an arm and a leg!"
>>19490344SCORE
rolled 6, 1, 1, 1 = 9>>19490328Man is hiding something."Listen you wretch. I know your hiding something from me, and I will have it. Or so Atun help me I will force you to march to King's Landing with you dick chopped off and daggers strapped to your legs."
rolled 3, 3, 5, 4 = 15>>19490328So the son of the Dannets has some ambitions I see. Or is it the vile Shradder? And what was Adham Dannett's emblem. For all we know someone is also pretending to be him as well. Let's find out.
>>19490328A turtle on a schiel? That is all you got?Why the hell would we come raid you under our own coat of arms, you bloody fools?
>>19490344"No! Please! We work for Dannett, I swear by the Seven! We met him ourselves, a tall and thin but fierce looking man. You've seen the letter, you know it's true!"You're well aware than Lord Dannett is a little fat man about as threatening as a Myreenese lapdog.
>>19490382"You just saved your life there. That was not Lord Dannett. We need you alive now, so that we can find whoever tried to flip the turtle on it's back. But you don't need your hand."Let's chop off his left hand, for daring to raise it against us under false pretenses.
>>19490361His emblem is a red pomegranate pierced by an arrow on a grey field. The sigil on the wax seal is just a stick and a circle, clearly nowhere near the fine craftsmanship a lord would demand.
>>19490382"You dense Idiot!" Start kicking the shit out of him"Lord Dannet is short than my waist and round as a sealannister! The letter is a forgery and a poor one at that, which is enough to convince you mewling peasants!" Hold up our arm, "The knight from before, did you slit his throat?"
>>19490407He's terrified and confused. "What? No! Lord Dannett shot his leg before his men retreated. Don't you remember?"
>>19490433"No, the man in the tavern, How long have you men been watching me?!"
>>19490382We need this fucker alive. This bears investigation.
>>19490449"What tavern? I wasn't at any tavern. Mother's mercy, please, believe me!"
>>19490472Scowl."You've been deceived through and through. You'll come with us and we'll decide later what to do about this."
>>19490487Agreed. We need to find this thin man. And torture the fuck out of him before telling Dannett someone has been pretending to be him. We are a snapping turtle, not some garden tortoise. You mess with us, expect to lose a few fingers at the very least.
>>19490487"Yes, m'lord. Thank you m'lord."The sellsword is chained up in the hold, and your ship makes its way to Kings Landing. Within a few hours you see the towers of Magor's Holdfast and the Red Keep rising above the horizon, followed by the city walls and the reek of fish guts and sewage (reek, reek, it rhymes with meek). The ship docks a short distance from the Mud Gate and House Bulwark walks towards it when you're stopped by a trio of goldcloaks."I'm sorry, ser, but we'll need to inspect your luggage. We need to ensure you aren't bringing in any contraband."
rolled 6, 4, 4, 5 = 19>>19490552Let them look. We aren't bringing in anything. But first, ask them for proof they're actual goldcloaks, and not impostors. Donnie could roll for intimidate to let him pass. We have a lot of options here. I'm going for intimidate for proof before we let them see our possessions.4d6 right?
>>19490552...We'd like to check first to see if we're bringing in any contraband.A sly enemy has been hounding us this trip and saw forth to try to frame another lord in several attacks.Give them a description of Shradder just in case
>>19490572that sounds smart since someone could have sneaked some illegal goods on our ship
"Listen here, young man, I don't know how they do things in the Narrow Sea but here we respect the authority of good King Robert. Young Dannett warned me about you lot, and I can certainly see why."The two other goldcloaks go through your belongings, and they're taking their time about it. You know there's nothing to find, but it's still annoying.
>>19490586I think they just want to see what they have on our persons.
>>19490600Assholes. Oh shit. We have a dude chained up in the ship. What if they see him?
>>19490626I doubt they will give a fuck.
>>19490629Yeah, but they might use it as an excuse to detain us longer or something.
>>19490572He seems a little suprised to hear you bring him up. "That whoreson pirate? Well, obviously we can't comment on sensitive investigations like that, but rest assured, if we see him he'll be enjoying the hospitality of the black cells soon enough." He looks at Donatello and says "That goes for anyone who disturbs the King's peace. If any nobleman or knight starts making trouble they'll be locked up and sent home after the Tournament's over."
>>19490644"Which we hope there wont be any. Do you know where the Dannet's would be though? We wish to clear up the lies behind the rumors that've been spread lately. The Dannet Manse perhaps?"
>>19490651Seconding.
>>19490651"Like as not Ser Adham's in his pavilion on the tournament grounds, with his master-at-arms, their maester, and that fat merchant Piper." He starts to grin. "From what I hear, his fiancee Isis Dannett took one look at him and ran off."
>>19490696Alright, thankswe should go see him bring the merc we took prisoner too
>>19490711I think we should also try to arrange to meet in the tournament. Settle this like men. We win our bout, he shuts up about the Bulwark. He wins, he gets to keep spouting whatever the fuck he wants and we won't stop him. Personally at least.
>>19490711Yup, and one we're through with him.Death or the Wall.
It doesn't take long to get to the tournament grounds, which are already full of bright coloured tents. You see all sorts of people around the place, Loras Tyrell in his shining armour, a large young man with a goblet on his shield drinking with Thoros the Red Priest and a Braavosi, a Dornishman flirting with a courtesan, an old knight who keeps staring at Leonardo, and even the King's Hand and Barristan the Bold talking. At last you spot the grey and red Dannett tent. As you all approach you can see a young knight, a tough looking soldier, a few squires, and a great big fat man. The blond knight notices you and gives a hate filled stare, and the soldier comes out to meet you with the words "You're not welcome here, turtle."
>>19490782"Shove it. I issue a challenge. Adham. I wish a duel to first blood to settle the groundless and petty accusations of raiding by your family."
>>19490807>"By your family against ours."
>>19490782Precisely the reason we habe come here. We believe you habe been tricked into hating us.
>>19490807Play the 'false flag' card and have him the letter"We've both been made for fools Ser Darret. Men jumped my son on the trip here, their hire-ons fooled by stories of fancy. Havent you heard the tales of your father cutting down 'my' raiders. Funny how your father gained a few feet and more then a few pounds of muscle in those tales. We have a captive you can question yourself, but in the end, the leads point toward one man, the pirate Shradder. We've been made fools, now lets not let him pit us against eachother, first drink is on me."
>>19490807The young man shouts back. "Oh, I'll face you, murderer, but it won't be to first blood. I'll stand before His Grace and demand a trial by combat. By the judgement of the Father justice will prevail, and through the might of the Warrior the guilty will be slain."The young men start cheering, before the soldier silences them with a look. "There's your answer. Now leave."
>>19490836Leo should step forth before his hot headed son gets them in more trouble.Put forth the evidence we've put together, and try to ingrain into the lads mind. "Dont die for a lie boy, you'll live a lot longer when you take time to think. Step out of the shell you've put yourself in to see whats infront of you."
>>19490830Ser Adham tears the letter up."Petty lies and a fake letter won't save you from my blade, coward. And of course the smallfolk tell such tales, they hunger for justice as much as I do, and can only get it through stories of valour before I bring them your head."
>>19490836"Fine. I'll just leave this here."Drop off the letter with the false sign, and state."This is why I wanted first blood. So that no man could accuse either of us of being craven, no matter who won, and that peace would exist between our houses, and that we could hunt down whoever framed my family together. We're both being fools. But you are more foolish for desiring your own death."
>>19490862"Then question the man we captured yourself! When it comes to light that 'Lord Darret' was with them during the ambush, who shot an arrow into my men's leg, into my son's shoulder. You know exactly where your father is, and full well that he wasnt on some traveling road."
>>19490854The knight touches his hilt and says "Don't presume to advise me, archvillain!"The soldier says "Keep your head, Adham. It does us no good to start a brawl out here. They've made their point, and they're going." He gives a pleading look to Leonardo, hoping he too realises the madness of young men puffed up with chivalrous tales.
>>19490854Are you kidding? It's our motto. We aren't backing down from a challenge no matter what happens.
>>19490904I wouldn't say our motto is particularly "back down from a challenge" more that "if you got trouble with us, come at us."In this case the young guy is clearly goading us, it is not our thing to charge in blindly, nor do we back down, but if Adham wants to pick a fight he will have to bring the fight to us.Granted, that wording in the previous post was badly made.
>>19491003Well, it's up to the King to approve the duel to the death. Maybe we'll get lucky. I doubt it though. And Adham wanted the duel to the death. He's coming to us. We're going to cut him down like a fucking bitch.
A dark haired, clever looking nobleman with a silver goblet brooch pinned to his doublet walks up to the altercation. He approaches Leonardo and says quietly "Some advice, my lord. When you suspect a subtle plot, subtlety is the best approach. Let us discuss your problems and see if I cannot help."
>>19491025I like his mustache.Let's trust him completely!
>>19491038It's not Littlefinger, it's his heterosexual life partner Orten Lugus. They work together to research new and interesting ways to molest Sansa.
>>19491025"This is a private feud. Leave it to settle itself."
>>19491025well, lets see what he has to say
>>19491025Also, grunt and say "If a badly forged letter and a couple of fooled peasants is a particularly subtle plot I guess you mainlanders may be a bit gullible."
>>19491065Better plan. Let's say this.
>>19491065"The subtlety is in finding the people too naive to ever suspect trickery. I overheard you talking about an imposter Lord Dannett, and of a Lyseni smuggler. Let us find somewhere more discrete, and you can tell me about them"
>>19491081Alright, but first tell me who you are
>>19491081"Alright. Any help, even from suspicious sources is always welcome."
>>19491100This, plus"I don't believe we've been formally introduced..."
>>19489044master of the strongest castle in the Narrow SeaWait, are you saying that our castle is stronger than Dragonstone? I call bullshit on that.
The man leads you towards a black tent, with white and green patches. Inside, Thoros of Myr is sleeping off the braavosi spirits he's imbibed, with a small moustache of ink clumsily painted on his upper lip.The mysterious nobleman says "My name is Orten Lugus, and doubtless my family's poor reputation preceeds me." It does indeed, you all remember the song "A hundred feet of red, red rope" about how one Lugus took the house from his brother around the time of Aegon's landing. The family is sworn to House Lannister, and are known for being brutal as the Cleganes and numerous as the Freys. "But I assure you, I am nothing like that drunk brute I call brother. I am a patient observer and a planner. And what I've observed so far led me to believe someone is plotting to bring war between your house and the Dannetts, though to what end I don't know. Tell me, do you know who it is that impersonated Lord Dannett?"
>>19491158Dude. We have 62 Defense and a fuckhuge castle. AND we're on a island. I'd say it's a deserved title.
>>19491158It is a pretty awesome castle, it's just we don't have enough men to fully man it.
>>19491163"We suspect a pirate known as the Shadder. He is a known enemy of our house."
>>19491163"A man, tall as a tree and strong as an ox. Fierce was his glare. I've met many men like that in my years, but many of those are also dead. Fewer still have need to hate me to do such a thing. That leaves only one man, the dreaded pirate, Shradder.
>>19491177"Perhaps he is behind this, but that's a foreign name. Would anyone believe a Stormlands lord had a Lyseni accent? He must be working through agents here in Westeros. What about them?"
>>19491163"The gutless sellsword we captured described him as a tall, thin, fierce-looking fellow. I'm sure you can spot the obvious discrepancy with the true Dennett."
>>19491190"There is another who fits that description, and would be mad enough to do it. Have you ever heard of a bandit called The Fox Knight?"
>>19491215"I... hm. To think of it, our party had an encounter with a hedge knight who claimed to be an acquaintance of the fox knight. He was found dead the next morning- no fault of ours, of course. Damn distasteful way to do things."
>>19491215"We had a run in with a bragging hedge knight who claimed he was in bed with him. He was pretty keen on slinging accusations our way, but backed down when challenged. Didn't survive the night either, although it was not our doing."
>>19491215"No. Tell us more of this Fox Knight. A renegade who sells his prowess for coin, I assume?"
Oh you magnificent bastards. You fucking beautifull bastards. OP you have my interest.Gentlemen, may i join you in this quest?
>>19491274You don't ask to join a quest, you just join it.* So start scheming already.*Does not apply for Iron Hearts.
>>19491274Go right ahead. Here's our building threads.http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/19482419/#19482419http://archive.foolz.us/tg/thread/19487019/#19487019
>>19491287Alright, also, why didnt you use suptg for archiving?
"Indeed. This is more worrying than I suspected. The Fox Knight is Lord Clayton Archay, last survivor of his house. He fought beside my father in Roberts Rebellion on the side of the Targaryens. If I remember correctly, one of your father's knights wounded him, and my father fought him off and rescued Archay from the battlefield. However, when Tywin turned against the Mad King he fled into the wilderness, refusing to bow to what he saw as a usurper. It may be he is working with Shraddar simply out of revenge, but this could be a much greater plot to tear down House Baratheon. You have heard the rumours that Viserys Targaryen is seeking a marriage alliance with the Dothraki khals. Perhaps Archay has also heard this and is trying to serve his King in his own way."
>>19491296I have no idea why we didn't.>>19491303"Shadder has no allegiance to any but himself. I don't see why the Fox Knight would work with one like him. Unless they have some sort of uneasy alliance based around taking down House Barathorn. And we're simply the first target, as the Shell would make an excellent place to command an invasion through Dragonstone."
>>19491303Targeryens are not a big threat. They dont have any real influence and even they manage to get dothraki on their side, there is a sea holding us apart. On the other hand, pirates. we need to get them down. So what de we know about them.>>19491330Then allow me to do so from now on. Also, reading...
Oh, and one idea, let's see if we can get an audience with Renly Baratheon and see if he can talk some sense into his bloodthirsty vassal.
>>19491402Don't Stannis and Renly hate eachothers guts, even BEFORE the War of the Five Kings? He won't do shit.
>>19491330"I wouldn't go that far. Likely the Fox Knight is simply a catspaw, with Shraddar feeding him lies about being an agent of the Targaryen heirs. As I said, Archay owes my father his life, so if you can track him down, let me know. Hopefully I can persuade him that he is being used, and help clear your names.""As for young Dannett, I think he's just an unblooded boy looking to play knight. Knock a bit of sense into him, have the King declare you innocent, and let him ride home bluer but wiser."
>>19491411Maybe, but he's probably not too keen on one of his bannermen attacking one of Stannis openly.
Quick Question...What kind of weapon does our young lord favor? A Longsword with a shield? A bastard sword? A claymore? A fucking hammer?
>>19491428"That was the plan from the start. We came not only to honor the King, but settle the rumors.">>19491443Claymore.The Lord, Leonardo, perfers a longsword and tower shield.
>>19491443We haven't decided what weapon Lord Leonardo favours yet. Right now we're going with his heir Donatello wielding a claymore and a hunting bow, and the sworn knight Ser Casey is skilled with the lance and his maul.Maester Splinter has a staff.
At that moment a huge drunk man wearing a tabard with the Lagus heraldry bursts into the tent, followed by a thin, bearded Braavosi."BROTHER! Whereza gold? I need to boy a hoshead of this brilliant man's whiskey!"The Braavosi smiles at you and says "I tell you my friends, this man will pay for my own manse along the Sweetwater River!"
>>19491458Twin swords. Not katanas, fucking swords. Iron swords, medium reach.
>>19491458A maul, several handaxes and short blades would fit a bit better. His unorthodox style sometimes makes him lose a weapon or two.
>>19491528Err... He has a specialty in shields. So why duel wield?>>19491525"And this is your brother then Orten?"Flip a dragon at him."Here you go my good man. And what do you mean?"
>>19491458Huge Tower Shield(call The Little Shell) and an Axe
>>19491546Who, Casey?\>>19491561>"And what do you mean, pay for your manse?"
>>19491561Well, because double wielding swords is effective and rare. And its just, you know, when our name is Leonardo, i just cant help it.
>>19491583Maybe the twin swords is simply his one on one fighting style, and when in larger battles, he uses the shield and sword?
>>19491569Yes Ser Casey. Likely a fighter from the Free Cities if anything, his fighting style throws off Westeros standards
>>19491591Thats fuckin it. He goes to war with three swords and a tower shield. Twin swords are strapped to his back. He changes weapons according to situatilon.
>>19491601I like this guys idea.
>>19491601Glorious. Fucking Glorious. We're Zollo, but with armor and a fucking shield. Hell yeah.
>>19491601>Twin swords are strapped to his back.As much "true to source" I want to contend this. Why? Because having swords on your back is pretty stupid, hard, if not impossible, to draw.
>>19491627Actually its easier than you think when correctly strapped to back, also we cans strap them to back of our waist if its better for you. Not, twin swords are not long swords or bastard swords, they shorter compared to them.
>>19491561"Yes. May I introduce you to Ser Naton Lugus, heir to House Lugus.""Yesh. Now lil' Orten has hish formalies out of the way, I can demonstrade. Gla- Maiyo, give the speesh!"Ser Naton begins pouring a strong smelling, yellow-brown liquid into five mugs and handing them out as the braavosi speaks."My good men, you are about to bear witness to the grandest miracle of that ancient alchemy known as distillation. This drink, made from the barley of Braavos and the fires of Valyria, makes men of boys and dragons of men. I guarantee that nothing you drink before or since will match my Cheldarro!"Each of you is handed a mug, and Ser Naton drinks his down. "For sobriety is dark and full of tremors! Wake up, Thorro, we got guests!" He kicks the red priest, who groans and makes a dismissive gesture.
>>19491648Take a sip. If we like it, drink more, but not to much. We want to stay sober. Take it slow.
>>19491658Also, read the previous ones, though they were incompelete sadly. So what are we currently doing?
>>19491569"Because he is my best customer in all the seven kingdoms! I can see you are a strong man, so doubtless after you drink you will invite a man to make deliveries to your household as well?"
>>19491658If you finish the drink, sobriety isn't an option. It may or may not taste good behind the searing sensation of 120 proof spirits.>>19491665In King's Landing for the Tournament of the Hand. It also seems someone is trying to frame House Bulwark for attacking House Dannett, and their young heir seeks satisfaction in the lists. Apparently an old Targaryen loyalist called the Fox Knight is behind some of the actions against your house.Right now you're hanging out with some Lannister bannermen, a Braavosi merchant, and a passed out Thoros of Myr
>>19491665Currently, we're in Kings Landing, PoV Leo, while Donatello and Splinter are likely fuming somewhere over Adham, and Casey is protecting the Shell. Right now, Leo is trying to figure out how to prove he isn't behind a series of raids on the holdings of House Dannett.
>>19491648>sobriety is dark and full of tremorsOh my
>>19491688Then we dont finish it, just take sip. Enough to have its taste.
>>19491695Splinter is more likely off to the Maester's Conclave, or double-teaming some poor girl with Grand Maester Pycelle
>>19491704Hope its the former. Cause Pycelle is an old shit.
So guys, tell me, whats your plans for our military right now?
>>19491717I'm thinking later on, we'll shift over more to Heavy Infantry, rather than Garrisons. We already have a kickass personal guard, and a makeshift navy and a squad of untested Archers. We're more about the Defense then the Offense.
>>19491733Why not both. Lets become the masters of siege, both defending and attacking. Specializing on heavly armoured units, highly disicplined, lownumber, high quality.
"Not quite to your taste? Do not worry, friend, Maiyo Vierro is a purveyor of many quality Braavosi goods. I presume from your heraldry your house is by the sea? I can offer many opportunities for mutual profit."
>>19491753I like that idea. All in favor?
>>19491755"Yes. That it is. I would be quite interested in hearing whatever you'd have to offer when it comes to trade deals."This meeting may be more profitable than just finding out who our enemy is.
>>19491760With the port, we can certainly afford to buy seige weapons
>>19489307To get the Artisan we have to reach out to our brother's bastard son Michaelangelo. Improve fortifications by having own son do machines.
>>19491760It would hilarious if we could manage to pull it off.-So how many men does the defenders have?-200 sire.-200! we outnumber them 10 to 1. Just who the fuck are defending that castle anyway?-Soldiers of the house Bullwark sire.-Nevermind than. We are going to sit here for a long time.
>>19491797Perfect. I assume our brother's name is Raphael?>>19491791That we could. I guess we could also start designing our own, for both attack and defense. Become known as the House the can crack even the Eyrie open in time.
>>19491805derp i meant * it would be hilarious if we can manage to pull this off."
The merchant smiles."I trade in many things. Fine drink, cloth, spices, delicacies, novelties from Asshai. A man who knows who to talk to can bring you most anything, for a price. "
>>19491805And then.>Sire, I think they're bringing something onto the battlements.>What?Suddenly, Ballista bolt to the commander.>Oh. That. BLARG I AM DEAD.
>>19491791So Maester, what is it we are currently doing?I'm still bummed our initial plan of a Westerosi Ba Sing Se didn't pan out because of the massive law loss we incurred, but this is shaping up pretty nicely.
>>19491830"Fine drink, cloth, spices and delicacies are equally novelties. We have no need for frivolous luxuries. I hope you can offer something more practical. Otherwise, we would be happy to sell to you, instead."
>>19491830"We were thinking more along the lines of machinery and designs, but those are good as well. Tell me, have you heard of our dispute with the Dannetts? I wish to know who you think is in the right in this one."
>>19491835Synopsis of current quest here>>19491695>>19491688Also, the way I'm running it, if people want they can switch to any one of the PCs (Leonardo, Donatello, Ser Casey, Maester Splinter) although right now only Leonardo and Donatello are doing much that's interesting.
>>19491834And our own soldiers laughing and trollfacing on the battlements.
>>19491872>You mad?>YES WE'RE MAD YOU BULWARK BASTARDS!>THEN COME AND GET US YOU CRAVEN DOGFUCKERS!>Uh... we'd rather not. The walls look... kinda big. And scary. Maybe we'll just go home now.>Massive trollface on Bulwark Commander.
>>19491859"The Free Cities have many clever men who know many clever things. I will be glad to assist in bringing their devices to your house, or in finding one who seeks employment.""As for the conflict, I cannot say. I am a humble merchant, and I find little profit in meddling in the affairs of mighty lords such as yourself."
>>19491872Blowing raspberry and patting our helmets as we laugh and laugh at them.
>>19491912I've made an IRC room if anyone wants to use it for communication and planninghttp://cbe005.chat.mibbit.com/?channel=%23Turtle&server=irc.mibbit.net
>>19491907"If you could find a man willing to make such things for us, you would have the gratitude of myself and my house. Now, if you gentlemen could excuse me, I must take my leave."Who was that knight giving us odd looks earlier. Let's go see who he is, he might be an old friend we failed to recognize.
>>19491901And the wall is actually is a small one. The real scary thing is heavly armored soldiers standing on it with various kind of weapons ready to rape anyone that tries to climb the wall.
>>19491945Yes. YES.
YAY! someone decided to do another ASOIF game, i ran the first one until it lost interest. Lord Strongcock is pleased
Lord Leonardo wanders the tourney grounds and eventually runs into that old man. Seeing that the lord has noticed him, he gets up. "Ser Leonardo Bulwark? It is me, Ser Joris Landseer! Remember, the Battle of the Bells? We held the Hand's men on the ground floor of that inn for two hours before good old Ned came to help us. Those were the days, when we all stood beside each other as brothers, and fought with honour. Now, I don't know. These are dark days, friend. Dark days."
>>19491945And Ser Donatello Bulwark, to fend off all cavalry attacks.
>>19492012Well spoken my friend. But i fear this is just a beginning. A storm is coming. I feel it. Its in the air. If you dont want to be caught in it, prepare yourself Joris. This will be a storm like no other.
>>19492021>That's a nice horse you have there. Shame if someone sodomized it.>>19492012"Dark days indeed my friend. Dark days indeed.Have you seen Donatello anywhere? I fear he let his temper get the better of him today. A duel to the death over a matter that could be solved by words alone. What is the world coming to?"
He takes a few puffs from his pipe. "Still, I at least know I can do good honest service for the King, hunting down bandits in the Kingswood. Yes, those villains all tremble when they hear the name Joris Landseer!"
>>19492086"As well they should!"Might as well catch up with an old comrade.
>>19492086Your work is a good one Joris. Your service is commendable. But i fear, that bandits maybe the last of our concern. I hope i am wrong. basicly keep our cool attitude and do as >>19492101
>>19492074"Your son? He was here for a time, and then he spoke with a Dornish gentleman about a Valyrian blade, and how he was attacked on the road. I'm not sure where he's off to now. Still, the tournament's two days away. I'm sure by the time good King Robert will order the duel he'll have calmed down a bit.""Say, you wouldn't want my help hunting down the bastards who took on your son, would you?"
>>19492108"Something is the matter, old friend? Never fear, with my sword at your side we'll prevail over all who stand against us!"
>>19492128"That I would. I have reason to believe it is the Fox Knight."Switch PoV to Donatello.
>>19492150Seconded for switching PoV
>>19492149Its just a hunch. And some small signs. Something bad is going to happen. But i shouldnt worry you with it. Instead, i would like to your offer. Lets hunt some bandits.then switch POV to donatello.
>>19492150For the last hour or so, Donatello's been drinking with a dornish hedge knight named Bryan Telson. Between flirting with a beautiful courtesan named Lya, he tells you the story of the blade Scorpion."One hundred and fifty years ago, during the occupation fo Dorne, a great warrior by the name Arwon Wyl led an army that drove the forces of the Targaryens from our lands, and he was awarded by the Martells with Scorpion, the great Valyrian blade. It had been passed down through the Wyls, but during the chaos of the rebellion, they were betrayed by jealous rivals who destroyed the family, and the blade disappeared. It is said that the steel has red curls in it, like a scorpion ready to strike! Quite a weapon, if it could be found."
>>19492231"Do you have any idea where it could be located?"This could be our edge in a duel to the death. We should try to see if we can locate it.
>>19492256"Sadly, no. My master Ser Gennady is here to win honours and the love of women..."At this point he gives a flirtatious look to Lya."But I am here to find the blade. Knights and warriors have come from all over the Seven Kingdoms, and even further. Perhaps one of them has seen it, or even wields the blade! That would be a thing to see, would it not?"Something seems unusual about Bryan. He seems too good of a man to still be only a Hedge Knight, in service to a man without any lands.
>>19492316"That it would! Perhaps a Maester would know of where the blade may rest?"
"If I thought they knew, I would be at the Conclave now."Bryan seems depressed at the thought.Back to Leonardo:Ser Joris rides alongside Lord Leonardo into the Kingswood, talking of his great conflicts with the Fox Knight."He's a madman you know. He was a mystery knight at the Tourney of Harrenhall, and Rhaeger unhorsed him. The poor fool ran into the woods, and somehow came to believe he had to serve the Dragon Prince by protecting him from assassins, which to his addled brain meant everyone he met. He is a tricky foe, but I will have him yet!"
>>19492468"Sounds like the Dragon Prince unhorsed his mind as well."
"Aye. He doesn't even know that Robert is king, and still demands his victims give tribute to King Rhaegar. He's sure the mad king must have died by now you see, and..."There is a rustling in the bushes."There! There he is!"
>>19492590Body Tackle!
>>19492590Approach slowly, draw one of our twin swords. Exercise caution.
>>19492632You dive onto what turns out to be a wild bore. It angrily strikes you with its tusks, but is unable to penetrate your armour. Ser Joris charges and slices the boar with his bladeMake an attack roll: 5d6, drop lowest
>>19492653No. The other one's funnier.
rolled 4, 1, 6, 5, 6 = 22>>19492672Well, we were trying to tackle what we thought was a knight. So there you go.
rolled 5, 5, 1, 6, 3 = 20>>19492672
>>19492691I think we just beat a boar to death with our bare hands.Leo confirmed for being fucking manly.
>>19492691You strike a deep blow into the boar's leg, badly hamstringing it. It attempts a feeble strike a Ser Joris and tries to limp away, but the two of you easily finish it off.Carrying the boar on his pack horse, Joris says "Damn that wily Fox Knight, he's eluded me yet again. Surely next time we'll capture him." After a few more hours marching around the woods, and managing to find a deer and a family of squirrels, you decide to head back to King's Landing. Joris brings you to a tavern to have the boar butchered and cooked, where funnily enough Donatello is speaking with a pair of Dornishmen."Oh, it looks like the Mighty Hero Ser Joris has finally captured the dreaded pig knight!"Seeing Leonardo, he says "Ah! You must be Lord Bulwark. I am Ser Gennady Shanin. Your son tells me your daughter is still unmarried. Not for lack of suitors, I should presume!"
>>19492792"They seem to be scared off by the size of the walls."
>>19492803Phrasing.
>>19492803"I do not fear such a thing. I find the girls of my native Dorne never have battlements worth the taking." He grabs at Lya's breasts, who with a bored look slaps his hand away.
>>19492841"The Shell is quite worthy of its name. I'd wager many people would want to take it, though I doubt any could."
>>19492883"Our women are likewise. Coveted, but unattainable."
>>19492883>>19492920 OHHH SNAP
"Hah! You have the wit of any true gentleman. We shall surely be good friends. Your son and my retainer seem to be getting on well with their talk of glorious battles and magic swords."
>>19492920>>19492883BURN.STRAIT UP BURN MAN.
>>19492953"Magic swords? What on earth are you referring to?"
"Something about an old Valyrian Steel sword from the Dornish liberation that disappeared. All very dashing and poetic, but it's just wishful thinking like those fools who try panning Casterly Rock's moat. You don't just find treasures like that lying around."
>>19493033"You know a thing or two about finding ancient artifacts, then? I've got one for you. I lost my old hat once, think you can help me with that? About as good of a waste of time as looking for a blade of Valyrian Steel, but has a bigger potential payout, that is there IS a payout. Well if the damned thing can be found. I liked that hat."
>>19493033I cast flare
Ser Gennady seems confused, then starts an affected laugh. "My sentiments exacty, Lord Bulwark."Okay, I think htat's it for today. You guys all stay at the Tavern overnight, and eat the boar Leo killed for dinner.
>>19493168When's the next thread then?
>>194932156 or 7 hour, I think. It might end up being a short one though.
>>19493262You know it wont.
I believe a bumping in the night is in order.
