You are currently in the marketplace, looking to trade some of your gambling loot that you won in Willie Constaice's game for food and ammo.>ACTION?
Get some food first, prime priority is to keep our buddies fed.

>>20018734Going with this then?
>>20018734You trade a pack of cigarettes and a half for a bottle of liquor and a cloth to wrap and pack it in, intending to make a molotov cocktail at some point. You put it in your satchel, feed some beef jerky to your pets, and you're out of Tractormaede.(cont.)
>>20018798Yes. Glorious flame slinging masterrace.
After an uneventful 3 or so hours, you arrive at New Scotsdale (op pic related). It's not deserted in the slightest, however, the streets are somewhat bustling, but not packed.Willie Constaice is waiting for you at the gates, his buddies nowhere to be seen.>ACTION?
>>20018882Ask what's up.
>>20018893"Ah, Alex Murphy! My favorite robotic buddy! I've been waiting a bit for you, you see, I found something you might find a little intriguing." He says. He shuffles around in his pocket and fishes out a worm just like the one you saw earlier."Now, I'm sure you are wondering what I'm doing with this worm. I'm also sure you're wondering what a Phantasm is, and how I qualify as a professional one. Well, buddy, let me tell you the second first."(cont.)
>>20018942if he trys to blackmail us I suggest we shoot him.
>>20018942"A Phantasm, like me, is someone who can see into other realms of being, other dimensions. Each one sees something different, and me? I see into Hell itself. I'm not a normal assassin either, I work to put hellbound spirits to rest. And another neat trick Phantasms can do is this." Willie explains as he walks up to you.He grabs your shoulder, his eyes bulge,,,and,..the world,...,goes /red/.(cont.)
rolled 99 = 99So Jullius was the little girl, is he John Constantine? >.>
"Now this is an interesting phenomena that I've wished to share with you to settle a moral debate. If a robot can think, actually think like you apparently can and not operate on an algorithm, then they could possibly see the red. Then, they would qualify for being a living being." Willie says, still grabbing your shoulder. You notice several shapes on the rooftops."Don't worry, this isn't anything really overly supernatural. Phantasms started showing up after the robots died, so we assume its some sort of chip or modification that they put in the populace to give us this power. It's nothing too cool either, we just hallucinate everything, and I was just waxing neat metaphors. But we can pass them on. And if you can see the red... I wonder, what does that make you?"(cont.)
>>20019013(unfortunately, I've never read either of the things in which they've came from, but i have heard the name of constantine before and it sounds familiar. It's coincidence, but a neat coincidence i suppose)>>20019028"Or perhaps it's not because you're a robot, but because there's someone in there with you. Is there, Alex? Is someone in your head with you, and is /he/ seeing the red?" Willie says, taking his hand off your shoulder. The world stays red."Yes." You reply bluntly. "And yes, I can see the red.""Well it's probably the man inside of you, considering this is a hallucination. Medically proven so. But intriguing how he can transfer this hallucination to you, even while dead." Willie says, putting his hand to his chin."Indeed. Interesting indeed," Doc says, but to you."Now, I'm sure you're wondering, what is the purpose of this?" Willie asks. "Well, I want to join you on your quest to get rid of these vile worms. But I need to see that you're capable of doing so. Alex Murphy, I want you to fight me. Or at least, I want whatever is inside you that is piloting your body right now and experiencing this, I want it to fight me. Let him. It's 100% safe, this is a shared hallucination, you or he slash she won't get hurt. I swear on my own life.">ACTION?
(tl;dr A Phantasm can make people hallucinate a shared hallucination that stays relatively consistent, You are affected by it because Willie is affecting Doc not you, and Willie wants to fight in your hallucination to see if he can join you to find the worm things.)

(last infodump thing and then i need to take an hour long drive from the shore home. So see you in a bit guise)"The worms, from what knowledge I've gathered, were the last cry of the robots before they all suddenly shut down. They bioengineered a parasite based off of Toxoplasma whatever and put them into high-stress households, preferring to infect children with them. Over years, the children would grow increasingly violent, sociopathic, and psycopathic, and lead to murdering their parents and everyone around them. If they had children, which they usually did within a couple of years since the parasite increased libido, they were infected too. It was the last big problem we had to deal with after the robots shut down, and then about 5 years ago they began resurfacing but different. They infected children in general and turned them not just violent, but incredibly insane and incredibly powerful as well. Superhuman, almost. They regenerated from crippling wounds and they killed the shit out of everything. One of them took my daughter. That's when I dedicated my life to traveling the wastes and killing the shit out of everything infected with them." Willie says. You nod, transfixed by the tale.>ACTION?

>>20021438Ask him where the worms were created, whilst I walk around New Scotsdale
>>20021505"Were bioenginered. Like the Coulfs and the Birdrakes. The robots made them and let them out into the wild and they took over natural species for the position, or just made the problems worse. There's no more lab, they just exist now." Willie replies

Most serial killers are, in fact, wormhosts, believe it or not. At least, in this day and age."
>>20021633"Yeah...I know. Had to take down a little girl. Even though she went batshit, she still went on about how she loved her parents and how proud they were of her. Crazy times."

>>20021927"Well, if there's a wormhost, then my Phantasm will only be useful in going into mental combat with it, to try and shut down its insanity and give it a moment of lucidity before we end its existence. It won't help us detect wormhosts because a: they usually hide, and b: they can't hide among us. The behavior is too wild. We'd notice." Willie explains.
"Hmmm then we should look amongst the sewers to start, or wait... they kill their families first typically so maybe that's where thier 'lair' would be maybe we should start by finding out whose's gone missing but NOT turned up dead.... unless this city is too big for that kind of tactic..."also "hey doc, any ideas since your along for this one it seems"

Willie says as you two walk to the local police headquarters. As you discuss your plan, you talk inwardly to Father. "What do you think about this?" You ask."I don't really care, it just means that you have a purpose in life. This is what my experiments are leading up to, creating a synthetic life that can live it's own complete life. As long as you have something to do, I'm happy. As for your mission, I'd just stick with this Constaice fellow. He sounds trustworthy." Father says.>ACTION?

He leans down and pets Rex, who has been following you this entire time and snapping along like a good Gatenya pup. "Good doggie."After a few minutes of walking, you find the police headquarters. You saunter in and find the commissioner's room with relative ease and not many people bugging you about it. Hey, OP, drawfag from last night.I took a little artistic liberty with his design because I wasn't aware the one you posted with the single eyecamera was what he was supposed to look like, but I think it's coming out pretty alright so far, almost close to done.Just wanted to get your take on it and see what you thought?
>>20024123(I like it.Just finish up the finishing touches and we're golden)You examine the bones and such. It seems that the worm didn't project them, but instead instigated incredibly rapid growth. If you had just let her be, she would've died from her own metabolism within a couple of minutes. You take a shard of bone and analyze it....It's quite as you predicted. The amount of telomerase in the cell was a lot less than it should be, indicating that the worm can force growth and regeneration under periods of extreme duress. You and Willie start cleaning up the place. Rex nibbles on a finger, but you tell him not to and he goes back to not doing so. Willie says he'll get a bucket of water later to clean up the floor so this can be a proper looking base soon enough, or something.Unless you don't want to do that any more.>ACTION?
>>20024186(shit check the house, my bad, i'll get to that)
You also check the house for possible hints on how the worm could get in. You go upstairs...And are completely unprepared for the sight you witness. The walls, floor, and even the goddamn ceiling are covered in blood. The beds, however, all 5 of them, are completely and utterly spotless and white. Except one.Theres a slight dampness to it, in a line. You follow the line. There's a crack in the wall where it came from. About 5 feet above the bed. You're somewhat confused.>ACTION?
>>20024186find a jar (SEALABLE) and contain the worm. could be useful to have a mostly intact worm later for study uses. search base and see what we got. also ask willie how 'ownership' works nowadays. do we gotta find a deed or pay anything or is it just squatters rule everywhere.
>>20024238scan for residue and ping for structure.this could be an entry point.
>>20024263>>20024243Willie comes up and is mildly surprised by the sight, judging by his raised eyebrow. You ask him and he says "Basically, whoever's there is there and if they die then you get it. Only buildings people really care about keeping certain people in are official shit like stores and stuff."You look at the residue for a good minute before the scan figures out what it is...It's basically the same as snail slime. Except slightly more adhesive. So it can stick to walls. That explains that problem.Willie has a jar in hand and the worm is already in it.>ACTION?
rolled 19 = 19>>20024355If we didn't already, search the house for swag for bartering to get the equipment we will need for our new HQ, maybe we could even afford to hire people.

>>20024382It leads outside to a small alleyway.
>>20024355Clearly, we're going to have to improve this building and secure it if we're going to use it as an HQ.In the meantime, it's time to report our findings to the Sheriff.
rolled 41 = 41>>20024414We need swag to do this though.
>>20024391we should check the outside to see where it came from. if the residue is thick enough for us to scan this side maybe we can find a trail.ask willie to search round the house, see if the food is good for him and the pets or if we need more and what we got to trade for it. If the trail is cold then get ready for the sheriff
>>20024471AND we should make a note about repairing that crack!
You check around for swag. After a couple of minutes you find-Several sets of different clothingA pack of cigarettes (goddamn)A digital camera. You really don't want to look at it.Several batteries.A Butcher's knifeThere is nothing else of value you can find.
>>20024489pocket the smokes, and check out the clothes anything of note?look at the last 3 pics/video see if it's anything important (read not too disturbing and/or any use to us and not just a dead guys wedding album) then clear it's memory.
rolled 82 = 82>>20024489Are electronics worth a lot nowadays? maybe we could use it, rig it up as a makeshift security camera or even intigrate it into our own hardware? ask our friend if he smokes and if he wants the knife, as far as I know he's unarmed.
>>20024585>>20024542You offer Willie the smokes and the knife, and he takes them as he puts away his set of brass knuckles. You look at the last three pictures of the camera. They're incredibly disturbing and you look away immediately, flushing them from your memory as you delete everything on the camera. You think you hear Doc retching in the background. There's nothing in the clothing, but you feel it might be time for a chance of pace. Maybe. You can't tell.As far as you know, you can't integrate the camera into your systems, but you know how to use it.>ACTION?
>>20024631Start cleaning the place up. Give the victim and her family a proper burial.
>>20024749This, can we get some info on the house, how big it is, etc?we should probably clear some rooms for what's going to be different parts of our HQ if the place is big enough.
>>20024796In size it's about a two floor apartment sized. The bottom floor has the kitchen/bathroom and, of course, the corpse pile. The upstairs is the bed thing and the communal clothing closet. You start cleaning the place up. Willie got a bucket of water and a bunch of rags from somewhere (the kitchen probably) and begins wiping the bloodstains out of everything. You make the beds and the clothing pile shit a bit more orderly. You don't know how you can give a proper burial to them without looking mighty suspicious carrying a bunch of corpses.
>>20024925Well, then, tell the Sheriff what we found so we CAN give them a proper burial. Otherwise, our only option is to turn them into Rex food, and that's just fucked up.
>>20024925We could wait until nightfall and bury them but we'd risk running out of juice because solar power. Then again, the police KNOW this was a murder site. It'll probably be okay to give the bodies a proper burial. We'd just need to be considerate and not flaunt the corpses around for the world and everyone to see.
We should use a sack or something. If anyone ask, it's coulf meat.
>>20024925We should talk to the Sheriff then, these people deserve to rest in peace. Let them know what happened, that we took out the killer and that they deserve a proper burial so that any friends of theirs can pay respects.
>>20024954this
>>20024985Your solar power is incredibly efficient and you usually only run out if, say, you operate the entire night.
You tell Willie to go to the commissioner, tell him what happened, and ask for a proper burial. He obliges. You decide to investigate the alleyway. You look to the hole and are able to see a faint trail leading down into the dumpster. You're kind of afraid to open it up.>ACTION?

There is... absolutely nothing in it.But.there is a hole in the side. You go around and you follow the hole. You follow it through the alleyway to the other street. It leads straight into the sewer.>ACTION?(op warning, the sewer is pretty high level shit for right now so best suggestion is grind for upgrades by killing wormhosts. If you go in now you will prooooobably die.)
>>20025201The sewer seems to be a bad bad idea. If the sewer entrance is coverable do so, otherwise just bugger off and make a mental note about this place.

You make a mental note of where the sewer is and head back to the base.Willie is there with the commissioner, showing him the worm and explaining the situation. The commissioner looks somewhat interested."And you've already met my associate Alex Murphy, robot bounty hunter." Willie says as he sees you walk in."Yeah, I have," Joshua says back stoically.>ACTION?

>>20025403>>20025406>>20025420"The bodies have already been handled and you have been invited as a guest to the funeral proceedings already." Willie says, handing you a fancy looking invitation."A trail, into the sewers? Intriguing." Willie says. Joshua says "Yeah, intriguing indeed. We've been having reports of clogged toilets more than usual, perhaps somma these worm things are coming in through the pipes?""Makes sense," Willie replies. "It provides a nice dank environment for the larvae to hatch and then gives easy access to hosts for them to advance to the next stage in life. Fortunately, I've never let a wormhost live long enough to see that next stage, but I believe that what happened today could be a slight inkling of what could happen.""Well, the next lead would to be to go to another house that we've put on the map. These are where the missing person reports have been. And we've searched one, got one of our men missing too, and stopped searching the rest. That would be... this one." He says, pointing to the next closest mark on the map, close to the sewer and a couple of houses down. "But yeah, we're putting curfews and things in place, and posting guards, but we haven't caught anything yet. Now that we know exactly what's going on, we know how to combat it and we'll help find them.">ACTION?
>>20025490That's good to know. Where would I go to get more equipment, more ammo, armor, and a mechanic willing to teach me about the trade so I can improve myself.
>>20025490Find out when the funeral is, and if we have time, check out that other house

>>20025542>>20025521It's about 6:00, the sun is setting. The funeral is in two days, not very far from here. There's gonna be a lot more funerals in the near future. The commish says you should go to Crazy Jane. She's called crazy, but she's just mildly eccentric, he says, and she's the best mechanic in the entire plains. That's probably hyperbole, you think to yourself.>ACTION?
>>20025580"That's a good plan, i'll begin to try and get that implemented with the mayor. But don't worry, we'll keep this on the dl." Josh says.

>>20025636"Absolutely none. We don't want to get the populace into a tizzy now, do we?" Josh says.
>>20025618>>20025621>>20025636You go to the place that Josh marked on your map while Willie stays behind to tidy up the place and feed Rex.There it is, in big, dingy neon letters. "Crazy Jane's"(cont.)

You walk in and the immediate sight is a nice tidy deckspace with a little placard saying "Graves Parker, Secretary". You look at the man, somewhat old, probably in his mid sixties, polishing a large sniper rifle looking gun."Looking for Miss Jane, I presume?" He says. His voice is old and tired, like the veteran of a thousand wars, but no scars mar his body."Yes." You say bluntly."She's in the back," he replies. You walk into the back part of the shop, which is quite larger.
You walk into the back, expecting... an older woman, definitely. Jane can't be older than the mid-thirties, definitely young. She's using some pliers and appears to be working with circuitry."Can I help you?" She says, looking up from her project.>ACTION?
rolled 11 = 11Ask if she has any robotic parts that we can use for physical upgrades seeing as we level up skills and abilities rather quickly.

>>20026135"I'm sure if you just gave her access and let me selectively decide what she can and can't look at then we'd get in her good graces." Doc says in your head.>ACTION?
>>20026172Sounds good to me. Go with that.
>>20026172Gotcha, make sure she doesn't get to anything too sensitive.Jane, I am willing to let you access my memory banks, there ought to be quite a lot there even with the vast majority of it still locked and encrypted. In exchange for this I would ask more for more than just a book, I would ask for tutelage under you, in exchange when more pertinent information crops up during my apprenticeship I will share it with you.
>>20026250"I can dig that." She says. She whips out a long cable from her pocket and says "Don't ask why i have this prepared. You don't want the answer."You go over and sit down and feel as she opens up a small panel on the back of your head you didn't even know you had, and plugged the wire in. She plugged in the other end to a computer latched to the wall, and began sifting through your files. You could... /feel/ her presence, like a bunch of naughty thieving fingers reaching through your brain. It's disturbing to say the -bzzt-(cont.)
You wake back up, your internal clock telling you it's an hour later. You feel Jane pulling the cord out of the back of your head and putting the panel back into place. The temperature around you also seems slightly higher than the preferred room temperature for humans. Oh well."Interesting stuff you got here." Jane says. "Sure, I'll let you work as my apprentice and teach you the ropes. Just as long as you don't lead any of dese worm things back to my place, kay robot boy?">ACTION?

>>20026363Second this response.
"Yeah I know buddy, but robot boy sounds better to me. Has a nice ring to it." Jane says. She has a stack of books already by the table. She shoves them over to your direction. 'Mechanical Engineering for Dummies', 'Circuitry and Soldering for Dummies', and various other novella that are similar in title to this one.>ACTION?
>>20026363"That's not where I t... Yeah, sure. Something like that, buddy. Go ahead and think what you want to, but your implying that I care when I really don't." Jane says somewhat defiantly.

>>20026581"Don't bother with them. You're incompatible. Try not to think about them too much either, I don't want my creation going through puberty like a normal kid. That would be awkward, having to live through those thought processes." Doc says. You agree tentatively.>ACTION?

>>20027203Cool beans; here's a different version of the first one, I think it'll be easier to read the title.Anyways, I don't have any questions, just want to say that this quest is good, and you should feel good.
rolled 79 = 79>>20027203honestly, i don't really have too many questions either. you did a great job of explaining it as you wrote.
I have a little thing to say to you guys, besides thanks.A: I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing. Literally 75% of the quest i've been writing by the seat of my ass.I started with you wake up in a coffin and are a robot. Everything that happened from there was a result of maybe 30 seconds thought on what you were doing, and then 5 minutes thought on the setting once you found Doc. Every other part of the setting has pretty much been thought of as you came upon it.And Phantasms?I literally thought of what they were 5 minutes before part 4 started. I just wrote it on the card intending for it to be some sort of superpower and I never thought of it until it became relevant.Originally Willie was supposed to /actually/ take you to hell, where he had reality warping powers and you would fistfight over a field of floating rocks in the sky, but then i was like "No, they'll never believe that."In truth, I didn't think you'd really go along with the current implementation of the Phantasm. And then nobody at all questioned it, it was all okay. He can make you hallucinate. Cool beans. Thanks again for making this so awesome /tg/.You are good people.
>>20027380We had just fought a 10 year old with a freaky ass death worm in her. The future has changed indeed. Also we are going to seduce Jane with our robotic charm. Or she'll seduce us, we'll get to make bad jokes about her only repairing us so she can take advantage of us.
