Reporting.
There are no breaks on the Karban train.
>>20140791I just want you to know that we're trying to figure out how to end up married to Cersei so we can be brothers with Tyrion. I figured you should be warned in advance.
>>20140840fuck me why does steam have suck dick at a time like this.
Alright! So let's bring the Cargills and entourage up to our castle and give them a chance to rest and change before we do anything else.
>>20140840Sit on the Iron Throne first. That's how rule right? First Lord to sit the throne gets the crown?
>>20140856It's alright. While it would be awesome to have Tyrion as our brother in law, we have nothing to really gain from the marriage to Cersei no matter how the Rebellion turns out.Wait...we COULD offer to squire Tyrion.
>>20140893Oh hell yes.
>>20140893We have Tyrion to gain as a brother in law. That's more than enough for me.
>>20140856Buy Cthulhu Saves the World or something. It's $2 on Steam and it's a 16-bit sprite game.
>>20140893Squire a halfling. You have smoked yourself retarded.
>>20140922I don't even have paypal or credit card hooked up to it, I only used it to join /tg/'s Dank Crusade group.
rolled 6, 4, 1, 9, 8 = 28I love you ThePrincelyDM
>>20140916But if we offer to squire him, we gain all tthe benefits of wedding Cersei and none of the my-brother-is-hotter-than-you-and-I'm-plotting-to-kill-you disadvantages. It might be hard to pull off, Twyin may interpret it as an insult possibly. How old is Tyrion by now anyway?
>>20140945I've got an extra copy. What's your Steam nick?
>>20140930I doubt we'd really teach him much in the way of martial-prowess, but we are talking about some honest-to-goodness awesome education for this little fella.
>>20140962Don't forget that Cersei wasn't always a crazy bitch. She was even excited about marrying Robert before he drunkenly called her Lyanna on the night of their wedding. A little bit of Karban could probably cure her of the crazy.
>>20140988>>20140962You can't squire a dwarf, they're physically not well adapted for battle, and Tywin will never give away Tyrion, let alone to a minor house like ours, we're a shit smear on his boot in the grand scheme of Westeros Politics.
>>20141013But not the incestuous tendencies.
Thanks for the wait, guys. And could someone archive the last thread? Totally slipped my mind today. The knight removes his helmet, revealing a wide, heavily bearded face. "My name is Ser Stephon Cargill, of the great House of the same name. My son, Lucas, is to be the squire of my nephew, Ser Benjemin. It was a great opportunity for my son to be taken by such a great knight as Ben. He is as fine a paragon for my house as has ever existed, and should be able to teach my son much." The boy is dismounting behind his father... He is big for a boy of his age, tall and lean. If Terris is going to stand against him for any length of time, the boy is going to need to learn how to handle a sword a lot better than he currently does.
>>20141031Looks like we should hurry up and teach him how to fight with a shield.
>>20141031Oh it's on now. Ben may not know it, but this has just become a battle to decide whose squire kicks more ass.
>>20141058It'll be good for the boy to have someone to compete against.
>>20141058Oh he'll know it. Becuase as soon as the guests are gone we're gonna throw down the gauntlet!
>>20141031Okay sorry if the description sucks.
>>20141116Well, to be fair we should give him some time to train the lad. Otherwise he'll just claim Terris one because he hadn't had a chance to train his guy yet.
>>20141031 Cont.Lady Veronica daintily slips off the horse, with the aid of your hand. "My lord, it is an absolute pleasure to finally see your home. This place is magnificent... I couldn't imagine such a place outside of Ryamsport or Oldtown. The Arbor has never had a long history with fortification, my father's maester tells me." She is beautiful, even despite the dust from the road. Her veil has kept her face clear and you take a good look at it. Her dark brown eyes, curious smile, full lips... Fuck man.Her sister slips off the horse with no assistance, wearing pants of linen and leather, rather than a dress like her sister. She smiles at two of the men-at-arms near her, who joke around with the young girl before Ser Ben sweeps her up in a massive hug. The redheaded Cargill breaks into infectious laughter as her cousin spins her around. Veronica smiles. "My dearest sister loves my cousin dearly... It is good to see them both smiling so. And you, my lord. It is very good to see you."
AWWWW HELLS YES.I've missed the last 2 of these!
>>20141171Aw shit.
>>20141171It is a pleasure to see you as well, Lady Veronica. If only you could see the city once all of the current construction finished. This will soon be a port to rival King's Landing in its glory.
>>20141219Well, no need to mention kings landing. We still have a long way to go to that one.
>>20141219Voting for this, but add on the end:"'But there are far more beautiful sights at hand."
>>20141172Oh, I remember you, you're the guy who wasn't here the last two times. Look what we've got now: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Karban
>>20141254Voting against this. We want to keep our options open, we ought to cut back on the swag.
>>20141293We're not ripping her panties off, we're complimenting her beauty. It would be ungentlemanly to do otherwise.
>>20141351Warning you, we need to cut back on the flirting. That girl is already as good as in love with us from last time, if we do pull through with our swag we WILL almost certainly end up in a compromising position during this visit. Not that i'd mind, shes the best option.
You bring the entirety of the visiting party into the main hall. You offer everyone small thimbles of cool wine, before the party divided up into its numerous tasks. The girls are taken away towards their apartments to prepare for the feast that night. Meanwhile, you retire with Ser Stephon as Ser Ben takes Lucas to the walls. The older knight accepts a glass of wine, and sits in a low-slung chair. "My lord, it is a fine thing to visit such a place. This is the strongest castle on the northern coast. Two hundred men could hold this place against five thousand. You are a lucky man to have such a seat."
>>20141219>>20141254Compliments from the Compliment God.Karban is nothing if not a silver tongued devil. Also, regarding panties. we have a seamstress, and now can commission a pair of panties with due diligence, as we wanted in the last session.I think it was house Karban colours and lace in wave forms. Try to find it.
>>20141426No, the panties were an inside joke/flirt between Karban and Dalyna. Veronica might take it badly or be offended. No panties shall be commissioned.
>>20141406"Luck? My good man, you don't know the half of it."
>>20141464they were indented for Dalyna. Why would i ever consider offering Veronica a pair when there is no history or precedent about it?If you remember we wanted to commission a pair since Dalyna told us to keep hers. That was the option with most swag, but we did not have time. now we do, for when she arrives, since they must be perfect and no one must know about it. our seamstress is the most secure we can get, barring travelling in disguise to another kingdom.
>>20141464He is talking about Dalyna. At least I hope he is.
>>20140791KARBAN QUEST FUCK YEAH!
>>20141510Are you the same guy from before who keeps using the word swag? This isn't Mahou Sho-whatever quest so you may want to reel that back a little bit.
>>20141510We already got her a pair and had a servant discreetly deliver them. It was in thread 9 or 10.
>>20141406 Cont."I come to understand why my cousin wouldn't mind so much that his daughters would come here. If the girl is to have a suitor, a man of your caliber would be a fine choice." As you struggle to come up with a witty remark, the old knight laughs. "I am kidding! Do not worry, my lord. They come for my distant nephew, I know. Ser Ben is a worthy man, and he was always close to those girls."You two chat about random nonsense for the next hour or so, bullshitting about random stuff, Arbor politics, and the impending winter snows. Ser Cargill has a great insight. "The winters always come, my lord. At least, here in the Arbor, we get the rains instead of the snows.">Ready to move to the feast, or do we want to talk to him?
>>20141598Unless he's got an insight on the murders, we want to move to the food descriptions.
>>20141532No, I never got into that quest once. but the title of pure dapper and swag just infected me.Would you prefer class instead? And if we don't gift them then we might have them for a occasion. you never know. Still the design was rather nice and i am still trolling through archives to find it.
>>20141598So is Ser Cargill an unsworn knight?
>>20141598Talk with him for a bit, get the measure of him, his place in the Cargill family, that sort of thing.
>>20141634Its always good to have some spare panties at hand.
>>20141652Ser Stephon is sworn to his cousin's house (Cargill) while Ser Ben is sword to us (Karban). I realize that Arbor politics can be kinda incestuous, that thats what happens when a half dozen families run the place. You try to gently broach the issue of the murders/deaths, but you cannot really find a good time to do it.... Not that there really is a good time for something like that, but if you are going to bring up murder and semi-superstitious curses hanging over a man's niece, you should do it tactfully. Instead, you talk about Lord Portain's new children, and the combat at Crabber's Harbor, where Ser Stephon led a company of spearmen levies in pinning the Clawwater militia in place against the wall. Hearing of the heroics of you and Paxter, he describes his younger days in some detail. You get the impression that he dearly wished he was four and twenty like you again, rather than two and forty.
Invite him to go bandit hunting with our Steel Guard; nothing like pointless violence to get the blood flowing. And the last time we did that, we ended up winning ourselves huge tracts of land.Speaking of which, Veronica is quite gorgeous... I cannot believe she's not yet married.>Karban is smooooooth.
>>20141734I think it's feasting time. But be sure to remark with some amazement on his younger days.
>>20141634In the tenth thread there was mention of how we slipped away from Terris for 5 minutes, bought some tiny silken smallclothes and had them sent by a messenger to Dalyna.
>>20141828sounds good to me
Team Panty Fetish is slowly corrupting my thread. I feel... apprehension. The feast is a splendid affair. Your kitchen servants have laid out a masterful bounty... Fried triangles of bread are topped with salty cheeses and sweetmeats, and served along side a soup of spicy vegetables. Following that is mutton pies, with a buttery, flaky crust and a rich, flavorful sauce that coats the carrots and onions inside. Quail are served in a cream sauce next, with bowls of capers, mushrooms, and a buttery sauce. The main course is the big river pikes that bargemen hate so much, served with lots of of citrus and butter.By the time the meal is over, you are quite stuffed. The constant wines served by the servants has you feeling pretty good, and your people are in merry moods. The Steel Guard, and your guests, are both having a fine time and you feel that you have played the job of gracious host with more than adequate success.
Found panties design.> we do have her size from the other pair we get to keep, so get some hot pants type embroided semi transparent underwear.>Transparent underwear, non transparent gratuitous lace embroidery, with blue, darkblue and aquamarine wave forms, and dark green lace trimming.
>>20141902How are our wards holding up?
>>20141902Finally! The hallmark of karban quest. Food description! Also, the underwear talks are kind of funny. Gives Karban more nuance then moneymaking ambitious murderous sociopath with property and ownership issues.
>>20141902Aye, let's talk to the Clawwater girls. Poor things.
>>20141902Damn that food sounds good. How are the Clawwater girls doing? How is Veronica doing? Are Bella and Martin Crane making googly eyes at each other or otherwise flirting?
Yup. Clawwater girls. we should talk about their trip with Daylna to the Hightowers. and perhaps taking them on trips with us to the mainland, should we accept.
>>20141961Both Terris and Lucas are sitting near the Steel Guard. Coyle sits near them, talking to Lucas as he points out features of the hall, mentioning the four great hearths and the battered shields of the knights who had served the lords of Castle Salt from the time of Aegon the Conqueror. The two boys sit close to each other, but you can detect some coldness.... However, the Clawwater girls sit near them, with Stefanie occasionally talking with Terris. As the feast winds down, the disparate parties start to go their seperate ways. What are you going to do?>Visit with your guests for longer?>Bond with the Steel Guard?>Talk with someone in particular?
>>20142066Visit with our guests for longer
>>20142066Visit with our guests for longer. I think we should talk to the visiting Cargills, we can talk to Lucas, Terris and the Clawwater Girls anytime, but Bella, Veronica and the Cargill family aren't always going to be here. Maybe see if we can get Crane to come along as we schmooze some, give Bella and him a chance to talk.
>>20142146Sounds good.
>>20142146Did we ever find out how old Bella is?That's Veronica's younger sister right?
>>20142184It is and I don't think we ever did. It's kinda impolite to ask and impossible to tell when she's not even 5 feet tall and petite as can be.
Should we try and find a delicate way to bring up the whole 'horrific deaths of previous suitors' thing?I figure that even if we won't marry Veronica, solving that mystery is a worthy goal.
Hey Princely, the fellas have been talking and we've decided we want to try and hire that minstrel that made Stefanie laugh in a previous thread.
We sit, talking to Ser Stephon and Veronica. Bella is off near a pair of pipers who are playing some traditional Arbor songs near the end of the table (and within view of Ser Crane). You manage to keep Veronica laughing and smiling and blushing most of the night, without saying anything that would upset the Cargills around you. The Clawwater girls end the night with smiles on their faces. It isn't something you fully play a part in, but you know better than to look a gift horse in the mouth. Terris has Stefanie smiling with some jape, and you hope that the boy will bring some life to her. You decide to hold off on telling them about the visit to Oldtown for the night, as they both are asleep on their feet well befpre they head for bed.
>>20142268I suppose we should turn in ourselves?Although I forget, did all of Veronica's previous suitors die on Cargill land, or were some of them on their home turf?
>>20142268Fuck yeah, Terris. I'd say we need to give him something for that but we're already making him armor. If we get a chance before going to sleep we should rib Crane some about how we're wondering if his attraction is because he's so tall and she's so short. Obviously don't do this if anyone is watching or listening in.
>>20142367I don't think the assassin would be with them, the uncle waits until he has them on his turf, if we die here it completely unfits the style of this guy, he doesn't strike unless he can make it look enough like an accident. If we die in the middle of the night right after the Cargills arrive shit's going down. Paxter will root this out after his most trusted lord gets killed. Just sayin.
>>20142268Lets take a walk and a smoke a bit and then go for sleep.
>>20142268 CONTYou awake the next morning with sunlight shining through the window, perhaps a bit later than you would have liked. The yard is busy as guardsmen struggle to get around the twenty new horses taking up a significant chunk of the previously empty space, but you ignore most of that as you break your fast. You grab a huge, ripe blood orange from the bowl near your bed, and head to look at the walls. You proceed up through one of the side towers, and make your way towards the river wall. You spy Terris and Stefanie walking along the wall, and strain your ears to hear what they are saying. The two of them are still small compared to the crellenated stonework on their right, but even some of your guardsmen look small next to the defenses they man. Stefanie is talking about one of her favorite combs, and how her servant used to brush her long, dark hair for hours. Terris asks about the servant, wondering why she isn't here. Stefanie mumbles that she was left behind in the keep where she used to live, and that she doesn't think she will ever see her again. Terris tells her that she shouldn't worry about such things. "Lord Karban is a fair man. My father said he was as fine a knight as he ever knew, and my father is a great man who my uncle listens to. I am sure if you ask him, he could find you a servant to take care of your hair, my lady." Stefanie seems to pause at this. "I still don't like him. He took me away from my brothers, and made them go far away." They walk by your hidden figure. You can hear Terris say "...Well, I like him." You finish off the blood orange you had been eating, and head down to the gatehouse. You were pretty sure that some of the Cargill guardsmen had mentioned something about Ser Stephon >>20142255We have already done so (Not really, but consider it done).
>>20142459Eh, unsurprising.Although while she dislikes us, she doesn't seem to flat out hate us, so that's good I suppose.
>>20142367Two died on Cargill land, while one died almost immediately upon returning home.>>20142386Crane is probably unwilling to talk about it... Then again, we are a charming motherfucker.
>>20142459Stefanie probably won't have the courage to ask us herself. We should see to it that the servant is brought here, along with a few other things (just so it isn't so bloody obvious we eavesdropped).
The girl has a point, we have neglected to explain to them anything about the situation we had to deal with and the exact gravity of the treason their father committed. We should remedy that.
>>20142459Why didn't she just ask? This is a simple enough thing for us to pull off, send a quick letter off to make sure that the servant who did her hair is sent along with anything that seems to have personal or sentimental value to the two girls as well as any servants who are known to have been well loved by the girls.
>>20142536No way, bad idea. We don't want to rub the fact that we are responsible for their family's downfall, however much deserved, in their face.
>>20142459Well, next time we send a raven to the islands we can have the combs and the servant in a crate on the next ship to the Arbor. When their full wardrobe arrives perhaps the combs will to.
>>20142459Instead of getting a new servant why not bring all their personal servants from there?
>>20142506in essence, yes.also , we need to get some professional help in eaves dropping. preferably a whole cadre of eaves droppers.but that for later. now wee need more men and more ships. but more men.
>>20142568Because we'd be uprooting entire families? Because we want as clean a break on the islands as possible?
>>20142589This, and i know we wanted to talk about forming an intelligence network with Lady Jayne or starting one ourselves
>>20142568All of them seems a bit much, but any particularly favored servants seems good. Along with their belongings with a focus on things with sentimental value.
>>20142506Due to a disturbing dicussion on Steam, I just want to make sure Princely remembers that we want to deliver the servant here in one piece. Alive.
You write down a quick number of small notes to Ben. The ravens should fly that night. At the gate, Sers Crane, Cargill, and Honeyhall wait near Ser Stephon. Apparently, the guys are planning on going hawking. Ser Stephon speaks first. "Lord Karban! Would you like to come hawking with us?"
>>20142729Of course we want to go Hawking, we never give up a chance to schmooze. Also it gives us a good chance to ask about the whole curse and murder thing.
>>20142729"Do the Tyrells grow? Let me get me bracer."Is this strictly bros or are bitches welcome?
>>20142722Sure you could have a regular old servant or you could have a balloon party, jump ropes and a lego set all in one
>>20142729Hell to the yes. Bring Terris and the new kid along.
Out of curiosity, what does the basic uniform of our men-at-arms and sailors look like? Also, are we using the rules that let us upgrade equipment for our soldiers? I seem to recall that the bonus for Personal Guard was...substantial.
>>20142812We DO have a tailor now that could help with a spiffing design...
>>20142748You ask the question about four seconds before both the Cargill girls emerge from the side of the keep, wearing quilted vests and heavy leather bracers. Veronica has her thick mane of dark hair bound up in a braid, while Bella lets her flame-colored locks loose. Your party heads out, riding hard for the orchards where you can rest the horses while you release your hawks to hunt over the barley fields.>Roll 1d100 for awkward social situation

The dice don't like the namefags. Anon rex.
>>20142812Our guardsmen and spearmen are both equipped the same (shirts of chain, with steel helms, heavy mail gauntlets, skirts of chain, and steel greaves or sabatons), with eight foot long spears topped with wide, broad blades. Their shields are of the tower variety, painted blue with the black galley emblazoned on the front. Normally, they wear tabards of blue with the black charge unless it is a truly ridiculously hot day, and cloaks of black in bad weather.Archers and marines wear a lighter set of equipment: a jerkin of studded leather and a mail coif, heavy leather gloves with metal rings sewn onto them, and heavy boots of leather that have bands of iron sewn into the shins. The archers carry bows of yew, with small bucklers and a motley collection of maces, cleavers, and axes. The marines leave the bucklers, preferring boarding axes, short hooked pikes, and razor-edged hooks. The Steel Guard has a much more diverse set of gear, from the longswords and Plate of Ser Crane, to the massive maul carried by Doros, Iylaria's rapier and epee, and the random, constantly changing collection of murder-blades carried by Reff.
>>20143007I love Reff. I wonder if he sorts his blades by the day of the week that he uses them.
rolled 55 = 55>>20142935you have some luck , man.
The hawking goes fine, with your falcon taking down a pigeon in mid-flight. Ser Crane rides, nearly constantly but subtly, near the Lady Bella. The two are nearly inseparable as the afternoon carries on, but Ser Stephon doesn't seem to notice. He spends most of his time watching Lucas and Terris race their horses over the fields, and talk about the greatest knights in the realm. Terris believes that Prince Rhaegar is the greatest knight in all the Seven Kingdoms, while Lucas casts his vote for Barristan Selmy of the Kingsguard. When their arguments become a bit too heated, Ser Ben convinces them to race for a nearby oak, with the Seven lending speed to the truer boy. It is a deft move that redirects the boys growing anger into something useful, and you get the feeling that Ser Ben might be very good at this.As the boys flash away into the fields, Ser Stephon asks Veronica who she believes to be the greatest knight. She blushes profusely before confessing that she agrees with Terris. "I met Prince Rhaegar once, when I was a little girl. My father and Lord Redwyne attended the king in the Red Keep for some nights, and I met the Prince twice. He was... Everything they say he is." Doing a bit of mental math, you instantly understand the girls feelings... When she met the prince, she could not have been more then ten. No young lady would be able to resist the famed silver-haired prince's charm or good looks. Ser Crane turns to you. "And you, my lord? Who do you believe is the greatest knight in the Kingdoms?"
>random, constantly changing collection of murder-blades carried by Reff.By the Seven princely, I now expect a graphic depiction of Reff dismembering an enemy combatant with something truly ridiculous. Like a dispatched enemy's sword, still grasped by a locking gauntlet, that our man wields by gripping the severed forearm, or something.
>>20143096Howland Reed.Hue.
>>20143096Why Ser Arthur Dayne of course.
>>20143144My opinon, not as OP? Howland Reed is fucking awesome. >>20143111Be warned. Certain paths might lead to certain fights. There is one that basically lets us see into Reff's mind.... Perhaps much, much too far into Reff's mind. While it isn't exactly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUhOnX8qt3I it isn't overly far off.Make your voices heard, gents.
>>20143096Well between the two of them I would have to say Barristan Selmy, he has quite a bit of experience on Rhaegar and his bravery is well known. But I personally hold Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of Morning, above them both. He is perhaps the most skilled knight and none have found the slightest fault in his conduct. He may be the truest knight I will ever see.
rolled 78 = 78>>20143007ahahahahahaha.Murderblades.I now have to find the murderpresents strip.that was a good one.>>20143096That depends. On what basis we judge them. For instance i don't want to be on the ground between Robert Baratheon with his hammer and something he wants, but for knightly demeanour i would not name him, in fact he himself might take it as a joke.Tywin is a smart lord, but well...
>>20143096[The fattest knight we know] I think, his great frame certainly surpasses all others!
>>20143216THIS lets name the biggest, fattest knight we can think of.He certainly is the greatest one, we deflect the heat and we bring in some levity and laughter.
>>20143096Barristan Selmy
>>20143096Either Arthur Dayne or Barristan the Bold. They both have experience, though Barristan has more, they both are what you aspire to as a knight.
>>20143216>>20143244This is the way Karban thinks.we don't want to give anyone strings to pull regarding knightly values we like.
>>20143216I change my vote to this. Karban loves to jest and hide his true intentions.
Wyman Manderly has huge tracts of....knightly honor
>>20143311Wow. I had to look that up. But, yeah, he's a big one.
You crack a half smile. "The greatest? You all are wrong. Surely Ser Horrace Appleton is the greatest knight in the world!" Everyone busts up at that, as the late Lord Appleton was renown across the entirety of the Reach as a prodigiously fat man who ate and drank as if he were a bottomless pit. The joke is even told in the presence of Appletons, who delight in pointing out how the late Lord Horrace more that doubled their fortunes. The saying used to be that 'For every pound Horrace eats, the family finds a dragon.'Once the laughter has subsided, Ser Crane finally gets an answer out of you. "Arthur Dayne is renown across all the kingdoms for his bravery, skill, and courtesy. He is as fine a man as I could think of, or aspire to be." Honeyhall nods sagely at that. "A fine choice, my lord. The Sword of the Morning is as great a knight as this generation will ever know." Your young knight rides off to greet the returning squires, while Sers Ben and Stephon ride up alongside you. Ser Stephon speaks to his distant nephew. "So, is that who you serve, eh nephew? A man in like of Arthur Dayne?" Ser Ben gives his uncle a dangerous smile as he watches Lady Bella's hawk slowly circle, hunting.... "No, dear uncle. He may aspire to be like Dayne, but he reminds me more of Blackfyre or Tywin." He rides off before his uncle can ask a further question, which is probably for the best.
>>20143216Seconding this.
>>20143345We never said we were like Arthur Dayne, simply that he was a good target to aspire to for some qualities. Except for the whole going crazy thing being compared to Daemon Blackfyre is actually kind of a complement. Tywin is also rather competent and good with money, we just got complemented.
>>20143345I think that's quite a lovely compliment. Though I don't think we're as much of a hardass as Twyin.
>>20143341Sadly, Lord Manderly probably hasn't even come into his title yet. Pardon the homebrew'd choice...On the ride back, you find yourself riding near the rear, with Lady Veronica just a bit ahead of you. Edging your horse to a slightly faster trot, you catch up and smile at her. "My lord, it has been a pleasure... Today was as wonderful an afternoon as I could ever remember. I must thank you for your hospitality. It has been nothing short of gallant." You just smile back, glancing up at your slowly pinwheeling falcon. The two of you ride in silence for some time, enjoying each others company while listening to Ser Honeyhall's (highly unexpected) fine singing voice drift back from the head of the party. Eventually, she breaks the quiet. "My lord? I must confess... I fear that you confuse me. You pursue me. You flatter me and make me laugh. You illicit such delight in me but... You must know of my... my..." She chokes out the last word, with a surprising amount of honest horror. "Curse.">Wat say?
>>20143434Curse? What curse? Surely she jests.

>>20143434Shall we feign ignorance or try to appear unworried even though we know?
>>20143434And you my lady must know of the favor the Seven hold me in. Yes, I know of the misfortunes you have suffered, but I no more believe you are cursed than I believe the Mad Maester was smuggling wine. Please, tell me what happened.
>>20143434>Sadly, Lord Manderly probably hasn't even come into his title yet.Damn, his almost sixty in the books.
>>20143490this sounds good to me
>>20143490Voting for this response.
>>20143434I have heard of the "Curse", should you choose to name it such. I would not let some trifling matter such as that stop me from pursuing what I desire. When I found the truth behind the Mad Maester it was but a man wearing a mask. I hold all curses in such a light. What more can you tell me?
>>20143419Our facade isn't at least. But I like to think that this quote applies to our dear lord Karban."The true interest of an absolute monarch generally coincides with that of his people. Their numbers, their wealth, their order, and their security, are the best and only foundations of his real greatness; and were he totally devoid of virtue, prudence might supply its place, and would dictate the same rule of conduct." — Edward Gibbon, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, Chapter V
>>20143516A fine book. I have all the volumes on my bookshelf, right over there.>>20143499Shit, I figured him for fifty or so. Well, then never mind... Maybe he isn't super fat yet though? Meh. Handwaving it.>>20143419Let's see if that last sentiment changes once we have kids. The words start to come out in a confused, emotional jumble... You are happy Ser Honeyhall is singing, otherwise someone else might hear. "I've heard people talk... The servant girls, the guards, even the merchants in the halls. Everyone says I am cursed to never be married, to kill any man who tries to take me as a bride! They say it is because the Seven have turned their backs on me or that I have been cursed by some hedge witch or dark spirit!" You would chuckle, if it wasn't clear that the poor girl is petrified. "Do not worry, my lady... Magic is gone from the world, just like the dragons. It is only dark deeds and darker men to blame for such things, have no fear. Your cousin once said I was the luckiest man in all the Reach. I prefer to think of myself as the hardest working and most unaccredited." You brush a few stray strands of hair back and wipe a tear from her cheek. "Don't fear, my lady. Curses are as real as the snarks and grumpkins you used to fear hid under your bed as a girl."
>>20143557Just to err on the side of caution, she wouldn't happen to know about any particular hedge wizard or spirit guardian of a sacred grove she defiled (or something) that would have any reason to curse her, would she?
>>20143603"Dragons aren't real. Buuut, do tell me if you spot one around here."Hahaha, I'm loving these lines.
>>20143603Cannot find a reaction image appropriate for what my face will be like if we've spent five threads thinking it was political when it actually was a magical curse.
>>20143557Thank god we didn't say Others...
>>20143645We should totally say this."Next you'll be expecting the Others to return this Winter."
>>20143623It's totally gonna be that the old west Cargill cast a spell on east Cargill's land to screw him over. Too bad there's not much we can do except roll our saves well.
The feast that night is a much more sedate affair, with the number of courses set to a more reasonable number (the roast duck is particularly good, as are the fatty pork sausages served with Dornish peppers and onions that were all tossed together in the same pan with some olive oil), although the wine and ales still flows freely. Ser Stephon retires early with most of the younger crowd, which is for the best as around about midnight Lady Bella finds herself lounging in Ser Crane's lap with the top half of her dress partially undone. In his defense, Lady Veronica is nearly falling into your chair from hers after she snatched up Ben's old seat when he leaves to go down and dance with several visiting Tyroshi (picture a crazy half-dancing rabbi, half gypsy bottle dance thing... Ben can be /real/ fun when he is into his cups).>Wat say to the Lady Veronica?
>>20143705It's getting late, we should probably retire soon.
Hmmm..."Normally I have to work before large tracts of land fall into my hands."No no, Veronica isn't the type..."I'm certain the two of us could negotiate a more comfortable seating arrangement." See if you can get her into the same position her sister is in on top of us.With this though we're starting an investigation phase. Put on the Phoenix Wright music!

>>20143795Never judge a bro.As the night progresses, things are going just fine. You are leaning back in your chair, sipping a glass of wine as a beautiful girl girls and laughs in your lap, your arm gently around her waist as Ser Cordwayner tells bawdy jokes and keeps getting slapped by serving girls as he tries to pinch them as they walk by. Ben is singing with the two musicians, quietly going through old Valyrian songs to a small group of people and an absolutely spellbound Doros. It is probably two or so as the party starts to break up. You are loath to get up, as you had undone the top two ties of Veronica's dress and every now and then she would do this slow, rotating motion with her hips. Ser Crane and Bella are nowhere to be found, but you really don't to muster up the effort to go find them... You know exactly what is happening, and by now you would be too late to prevent any accidental 'political incident.' You are going to need to talk about that in the morning, but for now? For now, Veronica is pulling at your sleeve, telling you that she wants to see what the city looks like from the battlements.>Wat do?
Eh, why not? I'm willing to bet the sister has the same idea. We might be able to stop a politically difficult situation after all.No penetration and we're fine.
>>20143862Good for Crane.Take her to those battlements, the lady wants to see our city in all of its splendor who are we to deny her this request. She might even get cold so we'll need to hold her close.

>>20143862Take her to the battlements of course. Enjoy the view, so to speak.

>>20143887There are two things Karban wants from noble girls. Panties and Anal.
>>20143896We're not going to get killed by an assassin in our own castle right now. All the other deaths happened during or directly after visiting their estate and discussing marriage. If on the slim chance that an assassin does pop by we're probably not going to die and we might even get a lead on this curse business.
You slip out a side door and make your way towards the battlements, Veronica holding onto your arm as you climb the stairs. Underneath your walls, you can hear the slow, steady sound of the river heading into the bay. The hundreds of lights of Saltmouth are in front of you, able to be glimpsed over the wall and through the scaffolding. Lady Veronica leans against the wall heavily, staring for a long time before speaking. "You know, my lord... The way to my chambers is dark, and oh so many dreadful things can hide in such shadows.">Wat say?
>>20144022Oh my, now it's Veronica's turn. How do we defuse this one gentlemen?Offer her an arm, escort her to her room, but make it clear that we're not crossing any boundaries. Nothing below the waist.
>>20144022The way to my chambers is well lit, though perhaps we ought to take a darker path there Lady Veronica.
>>20144022"Nonsense. My castle is quite tame. But if you fear it so, I shall accompany you to your chamber, less my castle takes up life and finds a disliking to everyone else but me."
>>20144022"I'll escort you to your bedchambers, Lady, but you'll have to check under the bed for snarks and grumpkins on your own."
>>20144043*Not in the front at least.
>>20144022"We cant have you be kidnapped by some shadow deamon or sneaky white walker, doubly so as a host."Accompany her. perhaps we get some interesting stuff. And stop being panicky about it.
You kiss the girl gently, restraining the urge to let your hands wander. The half-stumbling, half-groping, half-making out pile of Karban and Cargill eventually makes itself off the wall, down the stairs, and to the apartments you had set aside for the girls. You bid the girl goodnight after promising that you are just a shout away, to slay any grumpkins she finds waiting for her. You wait outside the doors for a moment, until you are sure that she is fine. Stumbling up to your room, you run into Reff as he coming in from the wall. When you ask him why he is still up, he just shrugs. "I thought to visit the fish, m'lord... Sadly, they never answer me when I talk to them. Still, I think they appreciate it. So very few folk talk to the fish." You just shake your head and go to bed, collapsing into your mattress and letting sleep consume you.
>>20144113Holy Shit Reff. Really. He is a Psycho.
>>20144113Nicely done Reff, I think the fish really do appreciate it even though they never respond. Keep up the good work.
>>20144113As much as I love Reff (I really do) I am SO glad we did not let Veronica walk alone this night. That probably would have ended in tears for someone.
>>20144126I think he's rather generous, the fish probably lack for good conversation. But more seriously, we already knew this guy was somewhat unhinged, he bartered a dagger, some coppers and a dead man's hat for an apple. >>20144144I don't think she would have even noticed him if he didn't want her to, he's very quiet. And he would never even consider hurting her, he knows we like her.
>>20144144for someone? for everyone!I am certain they would have gotten a baby.can you imagine? a mini Reff with lands and title?
>>20144113This was rather, underwhelming. Why did we not get another talk option once we got her to her room?we only answered about that. the situation to answer was not French kissing on her doorstep with the option to just get dragged inside.Which would have been entertaining.
>>20144113The lack of prohibited noble girl anal saddens me.

>>20144135The guy could use a good 'atta boy' moment sometimes. He works hard, in his own way. Most of the time, anyways... Sometimes, he is just fucking weird. The next two days are pleasant in the extreme. Sers Crane, Honeyhall, and Bushy take the girls on a tour of the river by barge, while you and Coyle show off the new ships being made in the docks. Hopping into the workline, you demonstrate to Ser Stephon how a plane can be used to strip off the wood. You think the man might not approve of your 'hands on' approach, but you don't really care. A lord should know the industry of his people, or how else is he to know their toils and concerns? The second day is a relaxing time spent walking along the apple trees after inspecting the books.

>>20144264>>20144257You do meet with Hathaway that morning. "My lord, that problem you had me look into? There is absolutely nothing to be concerned about, of that I can promise you. Careful inspection and patience has revealed that you have no children on the Arbor... Or at least, none that I could find." When you inquire as to the specific girls, you get satisfying answers: the tavern girl is still at work in the tavern, while the red-headed farmer's daughter is set to be married to an innkeeper near Peddle Ford. It feels good to wash your hands of the matter.>>20144282You chose days well, as the wind is strong and steady from the east, yet not terribly strong. >>20144329Half-disappointed, half-relieved. Oh well, back to Karbaning up this mofo.
>>20144317When asked, Stefanie chooses to remain with the maester... Which you don't mind at all. She should still be getting instruction. While she may know her curtsies, you have a feeling an empty-headed girl won't find many prospects. Her older sister, however, is greatly enjoying the company of the Cargill sisters, and Myrianna could really use the social interaction.Taking to the sea as the sails are unfurled, the galley leaps ahead. As time goes by, Lady Bella's momentary sickness passes and she spends much of her time near the bow of the ship, screaming and laughing when the spray catches either her, Veronica, or a surprisingly happy Myrianna. Meanwhile, you find yourself near the main mast, sipping from a wineskin as Ser Crane approaches you. "My lord... I need to talk to you."
>>20144293Having sex; funCausing a feud because her husband/father was mad; not funAll it takes is one fuck up to ruin us. We keep little Korban in our trousers regarding noblewomen until we're married, and then only our wife.
>>20144381Go ahead Martin. You can always speak openly with me.Resist the urge to rib him about things, this seems important.
>>20144381Oh Crane, what have you done bro?
>>20144382I think you overestimate our chastity.
>>20144381Did he fuck her? He did, didn't he.Time to serious the fuck up. This is gonna be fun. At least we didn't do anything ourselves or this would be a hell of a mess.
>>20144436this would have been one hell of a opportunity.in any case we can continue to encourage Crane to it and secretly work to getting him some land to make him a banner man for when the time for marriage with Bella comes.
>>20144382You are so not Karban. Little Karban goes everywhere. It is this big! Ladies point a hole to it, or i shall make one myself!.darkeldararchon.jpg
>>20144470Wasn't he our prime candidate for the Clawwater Isles? (Or whatever we're going to rename them)
>>20144493It was either that or finding someone at the tournament, right? Probably better to keep it with someone totally loyal to us. Although it might make the other members of our little group jealous.
"My lord... I have served you for nearly six years. I was born a second son, like you. I sought my fortune far from home, like you. When we first met in the Riverlands, chasing down those bandits for those Tully bannermen... I have served, faithfully, since then. I pledged my sword to you, and then to your banner when you were granted one. I have fought by your side, and been a voice of counsel when you sought it. I have never asked for anything more than a skin of wine and a few stags to tend to my horse and my armor." He takes a break, to kind of collect himself. "My lord, I find myself... I would like... I want to marry the Lady Bella. She is the woman I would take, if I could decide the fates of men. In the sight of the Seven, I would wed her."He pauses, looking off into the distace, before draining his own skin of wine... Crane doesn't drink like that, and you are starting to get nervous. He continues. "My lord, I am a sworn knight, with nothing more to my name than a small room above the barracks in your castle, the sword on my hip, my armor, and my horse. I will gain nothing from my family... If I am to marry Bella, I will need something to make her family see me as more than just a glorified sellsword. I would need gold, or land, or title. I would need /something/." You take a sip of your own wine. Crane is a man of incredible pride. You can't remember him ever asking you for anything.>Wat do?
>>20144493He was our prime candidate for them. I think we've been throwing ideas around for the name. I kind of like Wavebreak islands.
>>20144513No way would we hand it over to someone we just met at the tourney, no matter how awesome they were. Crane has served us loyally for a long time now, he deserves this.
>>20144518Well, I suppose we could spare /something/ for him.
>>20144518Ser Martin Crane, I was already planning to set you up as the Steward of what used to be the Clawwater Islands. I just hadn't gotten around to finalizing it.You can pay me back by making those lands run smoothly and profitably. I was thinking of renaming them the Wavebreak Islands, what do you think?
>>20144518Well gents, looks like it's time to make our decision. Make him a bannerman or no?I vote for yes. I don't really see any other good choices, and while I don't feel totally comfortable with how deep his crush is, I trust him enough to not let it interfere with his judgement.
>>20144518He's read our fucking mind. And he's doing it not out of cold ambition but for love. D'awwwww"Is that all? By the fucking Seven, Crane. I thought you were going to tell me you'd knocked up Lady Bella and you were planning on fleeing to the Free Cities, or eloping together."
>>20144518Smile "Why, ser Crane, how would you like to start my very own banner house? Somehow i was hoping this would happen the first time i saw the Cargil girls and had no idea how to make it happen, but now there is some possibility. So, what do you think of that, mutually beneficially for the both of us, right? Although i really don't know how the Steal Guard will feel when you go...especially the two special someone's - they are fragile like that."
>>20144518Martin, you will not have to worry very long about titles, land, or gold. I recently came into acquisition of quite a few islands, you may have heard of it. Unfortunately they are far away and I cannot govern them from this distance. I believe I am finding myself needing a steward, or even a bannerman, for them. I was considering Honeyhall....but if you promise to throw an amazing wedding and invite plenty of fetching ladies I'm sure I could be persuaded otherwise.
>>20144570That should all be said fairly jovially, with us giving Crane a wink and grin.
>>20144567>>20144569combine this two.start with the first as a jab, and then continue with the second...A nice way to put it down while not saying to much and letting us decide it later down the road about the specifics.
My vote is for this >>20144567Then this >>20144570 but without the mention of Honeyhall.
Crane just seems... Dumbfounded. "My lord, I don't know what to say... Stewardship? My own name? If I was to gain such a thing, I would never..."
>>20144667"Never what? Crane, you've demonstrated a willingness to kick a dragon in the teeth if you thought I would gain from it. OF COURSE I'm going to have you as a Lord at my right hand. House Karban rises, and with it so does its most trusted and worthy friends."Hell guys, can we just declare him bannerman here and now? This whole thing has got me all emotional.
>>20144686First steward. See how he does. Bannerman comes later
>>20144667I know. Martin, I was already planning on putting you in charge as steward. At least for now I'll be making a good number of the major decisions and leaving the day to day stuff to you as you settle into the position. I will have Coyle, Ben and myself advise you on matters and teach you the intricacies of managing lands. I suppose we'll have to find you a Maester, a good Castellan and so on. >>20144686Let's hold off on instantly bannering him, we want this to be a smooth transition for the smallfolk not a jarring one. Also Ser Martin Crane has a lot to learn about this sort of thing.
>>20144667 Cont. You kind of relish the look on his face before you begin to explain. "Those islands need a more immediate lord. I am a day away, as the raven flys. If a man, loyal to me and the Arbor, was to hold those lands in my name... Well, that is where you come in, Martin. If you are capable of handling the islands, you will come to rule them as more than just my steward."He blinks a bit, before responding. "A steward of such lands is a fair bit higher than a knight, my lord. This will be... Thank you."
>>20144694Seconding. I actually didnt wanted to give those Islands away at all, but what can you do? We can gain one extremely loyal bannerman from this.
>>20144700Goddamn I love moments like these.
>>20144700You can thank me properly by remembering every piece of advice myself, Coyle and Ben give about stewardship and doing to those Islands what I did to Saltmouth.Initiate Brohug.
>>20144724Seconding brohug.
The two of you begin to discuss some of the broadest details as you finish of the wineskin. He will be acting in full power, with the full backing of your name. His initial job will be the improvement of the isles themselves, with a secondary focus on the construction of a defensive force. You gloss over some of the biggest details, as that stuff can be put off. Honeyhall and Bushy gather around to congratulate him, before he runs off to sweep the tiny Bella off her feet, whispering to her that sets her screaming and sobbing. Some days, it is good to be a lord. Talking with Veronica as her sisters canoodles with Crane, she is smiling larger than you have ever seen here. "My lord, I don't believe my sister has ever been this happy... And such a gift to your sworn man. It speaks to your faith in him, and your history. What could he have done to deserve such trust?">Wat say?
>>20144764"Saved my life on many, many occasions. And in all these years he has never, not once, asked for anything in return. That is loyalty you cannot buy, my Lady."
>>20144780This.
>>20144764The better question is what hasn't he done.He has fought by my side, saved my life more times than I care to count, spoke eloquently on my behalf. I have shed blood with him, drunken mead and wine with him. Throughout my entire time knowing him he has been nothing been loyal, steady, highly competent and the most reliable knight you have ever seen. But this is the first time he has asked for more than a horse, a sword, a suit of plate and a place by my fire. How could I refuse him this? Especially when he is going to do to the Islands the very same thing I have done to Saltmouth.
>>20144764Saved my life more times than I want to count, my dignity more times than I care to and been the reminder I need about why I wanted to be a knight, much less a lord. He has always been my friend Ser Crane, and that has been enough.I think he'll need a new name, however. The Cranes are a good enough family, but he'll be an Arbor lord. We Arbor lords need pretentious names else we may as well be mainlanders.
>>20144816Actually, he didn't ask for the stewardship. He was only asking for some land/gold/whatever. He certainly didn't expect us to put him in charge of territory nearing the size of ours.
>>20144863Actually that territory is much, much larger than ours currently.
>>20144863It's actually larger than our current holdings. We're going to be larger when our inheritance comes through, but for now he's going to look bigger.Well, for now it's ours all ours mwahahaha, but you get what I mean.
>>20144821>>20144816>>20144780Veronica kinda sits back at that... Maybe she wouldn't get it, but it is important to tell her just how key that man has been to your success. Crane has been with you through everything up to this point. The man who wants to marry her sister is as upstanding a guy as you have ever seen. You might need to talk with her father on the behalf, though....
>>20144908Yeah, I think we're waiting for Bella and Crane to break the news before we lend a hand. No WAY is Karban broaching that sbject.
>>20144908We should probably tell Crane about the curse thingy and prioritize dealing with that.We need to have another talk with Lady Jeyne, form an actual long term partnership and get ourself a spy network.
>>20144959I thought it had already been established very clearly that we couldn't possibly afford to by her. We can use her services, but not hire her as our own spy network.
Oh, here's something I was thinking of earlier. If Crane becomes our Steward, he leaves the Steel Guard. New rule: retiring Steel Guard members have to recruit their replacement. This keeps standards and numbers up, and provides a way for older members to keep in touch.
>>20144974Good point. I'm sure Crane can find some likely stone-cold killer.
The rest of the sail goes by just fine, with the wind treating the ship like it was a drop of water on a pane of glass, smoothly sliding past the rippling waves.Returning to the castle, you retire to your solar and pour yourself a huge glass of wine... Holy fuck. The idea of a world where Crane isn't within shouting distance is a strange one. You also are trusting him with more than you ever have... The minute that thought creeps into your head, you banish it. You have trusted the man with your life more times than you could count. He is smart, and he can listen to advice. He can handle this just fine. The feast that night is more festive than you would have imagined, but your kitchens come up with something fantastic. The main course is tender mutton, wrapped in bacon and studded with citrus and olives before being basted in butter. The soon-to-be happy couple sits near one another, and it actually is kinda cute. If the Cargills don't agree to this marriage, they are blind.
>>20145014We should get someone who can be a solid adviser to Crane, make sure he learns the ropes properly. Maybe Ben could suggest a Maester?
>>20145014If the Cargills don't agree to this marriage, they actually solve many of our problems. We invade, take over their lands, bless Crane's marriage and take Veronica as a salt wife.
>>20144971We didn't bring it up last time we were there. We're remarkably rich and I think she would be interested in getting a stake in that. >>20145014He's so tall and she's so very tiny. We need to get him a Maester, ask Ben if he knows any really competent ones back at Old Town who would be interested.>>20145034We're not Ironborn, we're better than that.
>>20145034Yes, because that'll totally work.
I think it says a lot about this subforum that even a completely batshit statement like my last is taken even remotely seriously.
>>20145034That's brilliant! Actually, why should we even bother waiting for that. Let's load up and invade now!Seriously dude, somehow I think the Redwynes would have a bit of a problem with us warring with their other bannermen.
>>20145073This is House Karban, we take everything seriously. It's how we roll.
>>20145077Save it for the non-canon day.
>>20145077Nope too late. Sound the Call to Arms. Let's just kill the Cargill's while they're here, so there's no need to ride all the way over to their lands.
>>20145032Crane would need to have his own house before he could write Oldtown for a maester... Also, the Citadel is in charge of sending out the maesters. Although Ben very well might know the guy the send.Retiring from the feast, you and some of the Steel Guard spend more than a little bit of time, talking about the old times and past adventures... It almost feels like Ser Crane is dead, and you are all honoring him. Then again, if he leaves the Guard, it is almost the same thing. Cress sums it up best. "I don't think any of us have lived long enough to retire, m'lord. I guess Sers Crane would be the first, but hopefully not the last, eh?" That draws more than a few laughs. You also resolve to have a letter prepared, in case Ser Crane needs it. Lord Cargill seems as a practical man, and he should realize the great match this marriage would make.
>>20145134Aye, let's get righting that letter toot-sweet.
>>20145134Give him a hug, act like we're going to impart some deep and serious wisdom to him.Does she use a chair to get all the way up there or do you just pick her up?
>>20145150Really? I think I need some serious nap time, but this quest if the gift that keeps on giving.
>>20145150"Toot-sweet" is too rarely used. The next day is a big deal, as two newly-repaired galleys are launched, and one of your freshly-constructed vessels takes to the water. It is a good to see five warships, riding high in the water, out in the water. Caswell should be pleased to learn than more warships are taking to the sea, and the inhabitants of the isles could certainly use the peace of mind.To celebrate, you take your guests and your small court onto the river, relaxing on a small fleet of small floats, loaded with wine, pillows, small sweets, bountiful bowls of fruit, and numerous singers and musicians. You find yourself reclining on a tiny pile of pillows, your left arm around the shoulders of the Lady Veronica as your fingers slowly do circles on her clavicle. Across from you, Ser Crane and Bella lay back, Crane sipping wine as he talks to you while Bella dips her feet over the edge and into the water. At the head of the boat, Iylaria and Ben sit back, playing cevasse and muttering at one another in Volantese, Braavosii, and bits of High Valyrian.>Wat do you say to Ser Crane?
>>20145223So, what attracted you two lovebirds to each other? Martin, does she have to stand on her tip toes to kiss you? Is it as adorable as it sounds? See if we can get Bella to blush as red as her hair and Crane to be conflicted between hugging his love and punching us on the shoulder.
>>20145223Our plans and vision of what to do with the Clawwater Islands. Talk about how we want to expand its mines (especially the salt mine), build a fishmonger's wharf, and turn one of its ports into a very successful ship construction yard.
>>20145223>Martin, does she have to stand on her tip toes to kiss you? Is it as adorable as it sounds?Sounds good.
>>20145272Additions to this when we talk to him about it, is making better use of the seal, otter and beaver pelts. Ask Bella and Veronica if they'd be interested in seal pelts as part of their clothing. The drydocks, using all the lumber available. Popularizing the crabs and other sea food there so we can sell it to the rest of Westeros and maybe across the Narrow Sea.
>>20145168Don't worry, we are retiring in a bit.We tease Crane for a bit. Apparently, he doesn't need to pick up Bella because, in her words, "I will just knock him down and kiss him on the floor." Veronica smiles and laughs, and Crane confesses that he noticed the girl watching him during the Tourney of the Vines. The girl had, in the same brazen and bold attitude that she apparently does everything, made very sure that Ser Crane knew what she wanted. You eventually leave off on the two lovebirds, to focus on Veronica's now-exposed shoulder and the pale, sensitive flesh that is exposed. You chat with Ben in High Valyrian, trying your best to keep up with him as he pushes the limits of your vocabulary. It is tricky, translating the High Valyrian as you try and focus on Veronica. The rest of the night is a pleasant, slow sail up and then back down the Windingwater. Crane and Bella spend much of it in the arms of each other, while you chat with Ben as you sneak your hands progressively further and further under her dress with a bit of stealth and subtlety.
>>20145358No, don't do it man. This is my drug. I needs mah fix.
>>20145358Princely, when do you think the next time we'll play will be?
The next day, however, the Cargill guests have to head for home. Ser Stephon promises to only speak praise of your hospitality and the company you provided. Ser Crane and Bella have a private, most likely emotional, parting before their more public one in the yard as the red-headed lady climbs onto her horse. Likewise, you steal Veronica for a quick, passionate kiss in the winding stairwell of one of the outer towers... Well, it starts as a kiss, but ends at something quite a bit more. You probably would have taken the girl there on the steps if her damn dress didn't have about 6000 ties and bows. Instead, you help the girl straighten her hair and dress, before leading her to the yard on your arm. She is dressed in pale red, with a white veil and a shawl of Arbor-knit wool.Ser Crane hands Ser Stephon a small stack of letters, and you hand him two as well. Ser Ben shakes his uncle's hand one more time, before clapping the boy Lucas on the shoulders. While this may be the last time he sees his father in years, the boy doesn't cry... Perhaps he is made of tougher stuff than you would first think.>Anything left to say?
>>20145451To Lucas."Right, lad. Now let's show you just how Saltmouth squires earn their feed around here."Commence hazing rituals, make sure Terris is in on it.
>>20145451Nope, just wish them a safe trip home.
>>20145451His father lives pretty close, visiting won't be much of a problem, especially considering how close our families are now.It was an absolute pleasure to have you as my guests and it was a joy to meet you Ser Stephon. May our houses remain friends for as long as wine grows in the Arbor.Lucas, after hearing of your father's tales of valor I expect great things from you but I believe you can live up to my expectations and exceed them.
This brings an end to another month's efforts. Gimme a d6 roll guys, and lets see what House Fortune looks like these days.
rolled 5 = 5>>20145573rollan
>>20145581Well played sir, well played indeed.
>>20145581By jove, he's done it.
>>20145581That puts us into sweet money territory. We are looking a +1d3 and a +1 to be allocated any way we feel it should be. I assume the +1 will end up in the money machine, but that d3 makes things interesting.
>>20145608I vote we put it into Power.
>>20145608Yeah 1 into wealth and 1d3 into power I'd say.
rolled 3 = 3>>20145608Rolling for d3
>>20145608Could we put both the 1d3 and the +1 into wealth and get 2d6+8 wealth? If so 1d6+4 has an average of 7.5, 1d3 power has an average of 2 so trading it over is more efficient. We have an iron mine though, would the power roll be 1d3+1 now? In which case it'd still be more efficient to dump it into wealth as well.
>>20145642Yep. That bonus to Power is sweet, ain't it? But sadly no, the Karban-patented Magical Money Machine works with only one Stat improvement a turn.>>20145639.....Fuck year? All right guys, gimme that d6 for Wealth, and roll high.
>>20145639brilliantly done
>>20145642I think we tried this very early on, like maybe thread 2, and Princely gave us a no on that.
rolled 5 = 5>>20145657Lets make it rain
No more rolls guys. Player Four has it in the bag.
>>20145657Oh well, 4 power is still pretty bitching. >>20145670Not rollan. So that's 4 power and 9 wealth. Life is Good.
>>20145688Koschei has the right of it. Current Stats:Defense - 3Influence - 42Lands - 0Law – 54Population - 31Power – 8Wealth - 11
>>20145711We should use 10 wealth and buy an Artisan Architect. Will easily pay for himself quickly.
So the guys on Steam seem to have reached a concensus of sorts. We want to buy that Architect and we want to buy him now.
>>20145711What do we need to recruit with Power again?
>>20145729Like JG Wentworth now, or five seconds ago immediately?
>>20145729Some new-wave master from Bravos or something more practical, like a master mason?
>>20145741I had to google that. But yesterday would be good.
>>20145711I think an Architect could be worth it. He'll pay for himself soon enough. Question what exactly qualifies as a building? Do Guilds count, do all of the various Market Places count? Do Mines count? Hypothetical question involving the Architect. Let's say we build another Sept for 13 Wealth now. Does the upgrade to Lavish Sept cost 10 or 8 Wealth?
>>20145711With that Power Score we could get another unit of trained Garrision for Saltmouth. Our Guardsmen were mumbling that they needed more men to control the growing city.
>>20145738More soldiers, ships, and sailors.
>>20145757I see what you are getting at. Yes, Masons and their Guild can lower the cost of improvements as well as the core buildings. Guilds and Mines do not count (Guilds because its more the social aspect you are getting... they could hold their meetings in the park if they had to), and neither do certain other upgrades, that should be released tomorrow (like Wharfs, improved roads, and various infrastructure shit).>>20145747This is an important question.... So we will leave it up to the dice gods.Roll me a 1d100,
rolled 45 = 45>>20145784>mfw useless guy...
rolled 27 = 27>>20145784Rolling for Righteous Architect.
>>20145793All right. Time for that d9.
>>20145793An artisan is never useless, you need only appreciate their work.....or eat them...
rolled 1 = 1>>20145812>mfw useless gall...
>>20145784You mean Architect not Mason Guilds, Mason Guilds do construction time and Fortifications.I can't wait to see the other half of the Pastebin for more awesome purchases. >>20145812Come on Reach, I don't want any travel times.
>>20145821What.
>>20145834Well, hopefully he's delicious.
>>20145843>>20145834I'm pretty sure the d9 is for where he's from not how talented he is. What was the d100 for anyways?
>>20145852Mastery, perhaps?
You actually receive a man in your halls, a young man with a round potbelly and a curly mustache. He addresses you in grand tones in flavored Common, going on and on until you finally get him to cut to the chase. Apparently, he is here representing his master, the esteemed Nharri Sarshay, a Pentoshi engineer and architect of some repute. The man, apparently, is looking for a blank canvas that he can fill with his buildings. He is looking for a place he can turn into a work of art... You get the feeling that he is just looking for a steady supply of work, but meeting his price, while high, seems like a fair investment. The pot-bellied servant will return to Pentos, and you should expect to see his master in...>Roll that d6
>>20145877In either case we've done fairly poorly.
rolled 2 = 2>>20145884A Pentoshi, great...
>>20145884 Cont.Three months is the estimate of the pot-bellied servant, which does not seem overly long to you.Are we interested in buying a new unit of Garrison troopers?
>>20145908How much would a trained garrison cost us?
>>20145908I'd say yes, but i was the one that suggested it.
>>20145896Really it could be worse. I'm sure, somewhere, there is the only Dothraki Architect in existence that feels like he somehow missed out on something.
>>20145908Yep, if we can afford a trained one.
>>20145929One day, I'm sure he'll figure out how to use his massive wooden horses to break sieges.
>>20145929Oh man, I would commit genocide just to see what amazing buildings a Dothraki Architect would create
>>20145942Tent skyscrapers of course. And, as anon said, the BEST quality in Trojan Horses.
>>20145915A trained Garrison unit would cost us 5 Power, and would compliment the (currently-training) marines we have in Saltmouth and the well-established garrison we had ready at the beginning of our rule. And don't worry so much about the Pentoshi... Sure, they favor looming, heavy, square towers. But perhaps that is why he is leaving? Mayhaps he is a visionary or a radical? Maybe a stalwart traditionalist? Only time will tell....
>>20145965Sure, trained garrison sounds pretty good to me
>>20145965Has my vote.
All right. With our new architect heading our way... eventually, and the pressing need for law enforcement, we commission the recruitment of another unit of garrison.>Crunch: SALTMOUTH FUCKING tabelCurrent Population: 6087.Roll 4d100

>>20146028Hah, apparently they did.
>Crunch: Current Population: 6154.Current Stats:Defense - 3Influence - 42Lands - 0Law – 54Population - 31Power – 3Wealth - 1And I think we are going to end it here, for the morning. Shit guys... 500 posts later, and godDAMN did Karban kick ass tonight. Pat yourselves all on the back, and get ready for the next session.I will be around to offer info and answer questions for a little while, and anything important that I don't answer, I will answer next time. Thanks for another great episode of GoTQ.
>>20146016Before we close up for tonight, I think we need to sort out Karban's serious case of blue balls. Let's pay that tavern girl a visit.
>>20146081Only one question for you Princely, when's the next time we'll be stepping into Karban's shoes?
>>20146103Sunday, hopefully. And if not sunday, then monday... If it is a monday game, to make it up to people, I will be hosting another marathon session like this one.>>20146088Next time, Hazza, we will pound that girl into the dirt. But for now, I desperately need to sleep... Or at least prepare for sleep.
>>20146138>>20146138Hahaha, I'll hold you to it man.
>>20146138Awesome, sounds great. Tonight was a good thread Princely. Take it easy man and get some sleep, you deserve it.
rolled 44 = 44>>20146138Bhah! lets cure the blue balls now. seriously with Victory on the verge of mounting us or us mounting her for five days we need release ASAP.we can pound her some more next session or find another one.
rolled 43 = 43>>20146341>VictoryVeronica.Damn auto-correct.
GUYS. I just woke up in my chair and re-read all that I missed... We need to solve this Cargill murder mystery STAT. If nobody ends up marrying Veronica, it could make our bro Crane the target, if he's lucky enough to win Bella in any official status.
>>20147586That is a good point.Plus I'm pretty sure that by the time the mystery is solved, there won't be a Cargill branch house anymore.
