Despite distractions and troublesome animals, the adventure continues and you get to do stuff!

You are Elesh Phryx, rogue techpriest and Captain of the Sword-Class Frigate 'Sword of the Omnissiah'. 'Zephyr Spirit' remains docked at the partially constructed hull of your space station, a respite allowing the crippled ship to act as an operations base for the construction effort. "Spirit's Respite" may have a ring to it. Reaching the edge of ... Athenia's Embrace? Your flesh brain swirls with mixed emotions over such a name for this hidden system, both lamenting the idea of leaving and loving the idea of returning. Cogitators object to such tangents and thoughts of the flesh, noting that now is a time for exploration and discovery. Rebellious, your flesh brain directs your eyes to steal a glance at the proud XO that now shares your quarters. Omnissiah forgive you.

A question regarding what kind of prevateer Elesh is - do we chase profit or are we more interested in some ideals? If yes - what kind of? Because I am having idea about starting a small interstellar semi-autonomous empire, but I am not sure how well that would go with current direction of the quest(I admit, I had time to read only a couple of threads)
>>
>>20226633
Okay, in that case I'd suggest traveling to Galia's Respite, and from there to Serentus.
>>
>>20226821
Well, we've got our own system for now. But I think anything much larger than that will take a lot of time and would put us at odds with the rest of the Imperium.
>>
>>20226821
Elesh's actions so far lead me to believe that she seeks wealth, primarily. She's still on the AdMech Quest for Knowledge, technically, just taking a round-about way to her end destination. No real end goals have been discussed, beyond survival.

GM, what do you think - would Imperium really care if we would carve out some more space for the Mankind? I don't mean taking existing Imperial worlds, but taking primitive/fronter ones and reforming them or even colonising new ones. Also, is there central authority in this corner of space?

pic related - it will be us in a century or so, standing like this over this region of space.

With your questionable legitimacy and the fact that the Imperium will likely expand in this sector should they win the war...

You could probably carve out a little empire of sorts, but you don't have much of an industrial base to launch such efforts from. You'll have to steal or buy such expensive things.

Currently Elesh's resources are mostly tied up in her hidden system [Elesh's System].

For trade, she has 22 wealth and a cargo or two of goods to barter with.

I would say that Elesh studies the Ancient Cogitator she has or tries to get into deeper conversations with Dominion, trying to pry out any ancient secrets this possibly heretical AI might have. The warp journey passes uneventfully as Athe attempts to teach you the coarser points of interacting with fleshbags. Though Athe is a skilled conversationalist, your flesh brain is constantly distracted by some unsettling tingle deep within. "But will acting so towards others not cause problems between us?"

"No! No Elesh," Athe sighs, though a small smile creeps across her face. "Talk to them like we talk, not how we f-"

Claxtons wail across the frigate, boarders? In the warp? No alarm sounded to indicate a ship being detected and the distinct alarm for gellar field problems hasn't gone off. "Armor up?" asks Athe.

"Armor. We need to figure out what is happening." Athe nods, moving toward her void suit and slipping into the protective shell with precise agility. "Bridge! Report!"

"Alarms are sounding across the ship, captain! Julin made contact from the barracks but it sounds like fighting forced her to relocate. We've sealed bulkheads around the bridge, reactors and a few sections surrounded by possible hostiles. First call came from around the areas where the refugees were staying."

Athe assists your mechadendrites as your void suit is sealed about your form, her soft lips pressing against your cheek before your helmets are equipped and sealed.

Prepare to flush out the refugee comptarment. Shit is bad. We can't let it hit the fan, because we all might go down. Do we have video feed from 'infected' areas? What is our troop strength aboard the ship?

Not a smart decision imho. If they are DAEMONS, we won't be able to help them - we are but single techpriest(I am not aware of any bodyguards) and the time we spend going for tertiary priorities is the time ship spends without proper leadership. We send couriers to check what we need, we ourselves coordinate the effort to save as many lives as we can, this might very well be warp incursion into the ship. Do we have psykers aboard who could confirm or deny our suspicions?
>>
>>20227517
Athe and Elesh have successfully fought Daemons before.
>>
>>20227507
From where can we take centralised control of the ship? Are we right now on the ship bridge or outside? If outside - can we get inside? Also - is there only one vox station in whole barracks?

Damn, if there is something, that managed to force a Regiment-strong force to retreat, this really sucks...
>>
>>20227535
Well, one daemon is never equal other daemons, but I wouldn't want to risk it. I would feel a lot better if daemons were being killed by concentrated volleys from our armsmen, there will be time for heroics. Getting killed/injured in some random warp skirmish is not something we plan to add to our legend!
>>
I'd say our priorities should be like this:

1. Restoring our control over the armed forces
2. Using them to surround and contain areas of danger
3. Clear them out one by one, try to save as many lives as possible, but sacrifice minority to save majority if need be
>>
"We're checking on the others and then heading to the bridge, Athe. With me!" With a thought, your mechadendrite interfaces with the ship, overriding the locks upon the nearby quarters. The only officer you locate is a confused Kelly, struggling to hold her laspistol in shaking hands before her quarters. "Where is your void suit?"

"It needed repairs, so the enginseers-" Athe's hand covers the terrified woman's mouth as something moves down the hall.

The eldar Bob glides into your view, narrowly side-stepping a crewman and opening the yelling man's chest with her blade. A second quickly falls to her laspistol as the xeno's elegant movements bring her toward you. "They've gone mad! Don't let them touch you!" she yells in crude gothic. A small crowd of crewmen are hot on her heels.

"We get to the bridge and we'll coordinate from there. Don't kill any we don't have to."

Your squad makes good time to the bridge's bulkheads, though you're forced to deal with a few dozen crazed crew as the massive slab of metal is slowly opened enough for you to pass. The bridge crew is struggling to coordinate the calls coming into the bridge as sections of the ship are won or lost by armsmen and crew. In a moment you've interfaced with your command throne, feeling the ship's systems wash over your senses like a torrent of ice-cold water.

Your eyes open and you gasp, locating the organized resistance around your barracks as tendrils of the madness slowly creep about, seeking to envelope or bypass Julin's forces. You note with dismay that nearly a quarter of your ship is believed lost to the maddened crew.

>orders?

Are we able to vent air from certain compartments without endangering the atmosphere of the whole ship?

Better to clear out the areas taken by the insane than let them seize more of the ship. If a few unaffected crew perish, well, the Emperor will watch over them.
>>
>>20228142
Focus on containing those who slip through, then.

All officers and named characters accounted for?
>>
>>20228217
If you seal bulkheads first, you can easily vent atmosphere of sections. Crew may survive if they get to void suits in time and you give them a warning.
>>
Get orders out to the best organised and equipped squads to bunker down and form localised safe areas in easily defend-able locations. Given the fact the madness is spread over the entire ship and not contained to one section we need to just wait this one out for a bit and let the crazies impale themselves on our defences.
>>
>>20228250
I'd rather not open any part of our ship while we're in the warp.
>>
>>20228250
Can we simply lock all doors on the ship?
>>
"All crew, this is the Captain. Emegency bulkheads are closing in 30 seconds. By the Omnissiah, be on the correct side or bunker down!"

Julin quickly organizes the armsmen into kill teams, sending the armored men and women to hunt down any maddened crew that may have popped up in the supposedly secured sectors. A half dozen calls for rescue originate from sealed sections, though you order them to stay put as they describe the madness spreading like a plague. Each group repells several assaults upon their positions, though they all manage to survive until the ship transitions back into reality in Galia's Respite.

The smallest group of cut-off crew volunteers to sent out a small party to investigate the now quiet crew, causing the air itself to tense upon the bridge. Only a sobbing voice responds. "Dead... just, shreds."

"Head back to the others, armsmen are coming to get you all."
>>
>>20228517
Or rather, how clear can the mad crew still think? If we were to lock down the doors and announce the passcode over the ship's com-system, would they be able to understand that? Or only the still sane crew?

There are no trading locations here.

Armsmen patrols are sent to locate any further survivors, but the veteran warriors and even techpriests are driven back from the sights encountered. The infected crew and passengers must have turned on eachother after the bulkheads were sealed, tearing eachother apart in an orgy of shredded flesh. Morale soon drops dangerously low, crew and officers simply refusing to enter the 'damned' sections of the ship. Athe and Julin eventually complete their casualty report, delivering it quietly as the bridge crew grimly goes about their daily tasks.

Passengers: Wiped out. Possible start of madness
Crew: 3 D10% lost
Armsmen: 2 D1000 lost.
All Officers accounted for.

"We had everyone report in, worked from that." Julin's shoulders sag as she stands beside Athe. "We should contact Magos Grumman or Serentus, we'll need servitors to clear the damned sections."

"Do not insult the ship's spirit with such talk, Athe. It weeps for it's crew just as the rest of us."

Athe's brow flashes in a momentary expression of rage, as if you'd said something wrong. You simply gesture to the nearby reactor displays as they hover at forty percent output. "I've instructed the machine spirit to maintain combat output."
