ARE YOU READY KIDS?
AYE, AYE, PAGE-MAN!
I CAN'T HEAR YOU!
FUCK YOU, OLD GUY!

OOOOOOHHHHHH
WHO LIVES A KEEP AS WEIRD AS CAN BE?
WILL-IAM BOR-DAIN!

WILL-IAM BOR-DAIN!
IF VALE-BASED ADVENTURE IS YOUR CUP OF TEA
THEN COME PLAY GoT QUEST FOR YOU AND FOR ME!
GAME OF THRONES QUEST, GAME OF THRONES QUEST, GAAAAMMMEEE OOOOOOOFFFF, THROOOONNNEESS QUESST!

(Too far? Too far.)

Welcome back to Knock-Off Game of Thrones Quest: "Princely, Come Back!" Edition.

You are William Bordain, newest Lord of The Vale. Two months ago, your shit was fucked. People hated you, there were Hill Tribesmen robbing your ass left and right, and you were Blue Screening in your castle, because you killed a seven-year-old girl for the good of the Realm. Two months ago, you put on your big boy pants, and got down to business. Since then, you've torn out the tongue of your greatest destractor and nailed it to a town wall, you've finally bought your town judges, and just yesterday you met the Chief of the local hill Tribes in single combat, and beat him like you were trying to make quiche.

Now people are sending you ravens like you're the prettiest girl since Lyanna Stark, and your life is looking up. Hell, if you could figure out who hated you enough to dump enough wealth to buy a lordship into your enemies, you'd be king of the fucking world. As it is, as swag as you've become, you're still alone in your little tower, nursing your Hate-boner for Robert, Tywin, and basically everyone else you believe has screwed you out of a normal life.

STATS COMING UP!

CURRENT OBJECTIVES/KNOWLEDGE
>Enemy uses purple as house color, or wants you to believe they use purple as a house color.
>In three months, you have to be at a party.
>You are invited to chill for a week with your neighbor before you guys leave for the party.
>You have the tentative loyalty of the Painted Dogs, but you need to sway the warchiefs of Tor.

Having beaten Tor's ass in front of his men, you sat and spoke with him for a time. His son, Luuk, nodded familiarly to you as you sat in counsel.

Tor explains that you should wait a few days before confronting the other chiefs.
"Here, now, they are angry, and ready for battle. If you ask for their submission now, you will need fight them, and some will not accept your Iron's strength as word. More, here they are many, and you are one. They will draw strength from their brothers.
Give them a hand of days to think, and then find them alone, and sway them. Then we shall be the Chief of Iron's Painted Dogs."

He offers you a horn of...probably ale, and some of the roast pig he has been eating as he spoke with you. For a man whose arm you broke not half-an-hour before, he's taken rather warmly to the idea of working with you.
>>
>>23669719

Accept the food and drink.

Do we sway them in the same way as you? Or will these chiefs want something different?
>>
>>23670050

The pig is fine, the ale...is alcoholic, and that's perhaps the best that can be said of it.

"One or two, most likely. Some will want other things. Other promises, or secrets. One is a strange man. I know not what he will ask the Chief of Iron. He serve now for a tale I heard as child."

He rises.

"Luuk wants to see the people of your walled camp. He may ride with you?"
>>
>>23670166
I see no reason why not, though it'd be great if he tried to avoid doing anything too inflammatory.
>>
>>23669542
>that intro
Glorious. Welcome back Page.

>He may ride with you?
I don't see why not.

>promises
How about we say:
"You and your people are strong, but fragmented like shards of iron. I will only promise one thing to you. Follow me, and I will forge your broken shards into a hardened weapon that will bathe in the blood of my enemies. You are not sheepherders or dirtscratchers, nor will I treat you as such."

Sound good?
>>
>>23670166
Oh, a bard. Prep the answering arrays for "What does it feel like to kill a child."

At any rate, allow him to ride with us, but make sure it looks like he's subservient to us (Which he is now, no matter how hard he squirms).
>>
>>23670166
Hmm, another slow start, I see.

>>23670388

You mull the decision over, and nod. Over the next hour, the seven-hundred Painted Dogs return off into the mountains, while you and your men head back to Morderengrad.
As you start out, you turn to Luuk. "Try not to be too inflammatory, will you?"
Luuk cocks his head at you, mouthing the syllables of inflammatory.
"Wild," you clarify.
"Ah, I see. No snatching of the Iron women, or whooping of war cries, yes?" You nod, mildly eased.

Luuk rides beside you and your captains, and as you enter the city, he draws a great many looks. He ignores most of them, though you catch him winking at some of the fairer girls who stare.

"You'd do better without the paint," you interject to him as he turns back from one.
"Says you, Will-yam. Tonight that girl wonder if the paint rubs off."

You smile, and the ice broken, he asks questions about shops you pass, and you explain some of the fundamentals of civilization, baking, weaving, inns, and so on.

Eventually, you come to your castle. Your men have headed out to their homes and fields, and Luuk seems to be impressed by your holdings. He turns to you,
"Tor say you gonna sway the chiefs. Him think it be wise I give you marks for where they are on your land-paper."

I'd suggest we start working towards a Fishmonger’s Wharf. If we're going to have a decently sized fighting force, they're going to need to be fed. Do we currently meet the requirement for one?

Sorry about that. I live at a complex for Section 8 housing, predominantly the elderly, and we had a tenant who wasn't responding. Had to go make sure they were okay.

Anywho, here's your map!

>>23671005
You do currently meet the requirements, yes.
>>
>>23671122
Luuk marks them out.
"Here where chiefs make camp," he points to the dot labelled "Ut". "Him most not want join. Have many many you weapons, stolen in raid."

He points to Vil-ak. "Him care deep deep old ways. Show him you no hate by spirits, you fine."

Gorda. "Him easy sway. Live up cold, and him old, fat. Give him soft and warm."

Tor. "Chief Tor already friend."

Murwin. "Him gonna be tricky. Murwin thinks he most smart. Gonna have show him you more clever."

Rogar. He pauses. Thinks. "Rogar..." He pauses again. "Rogar maybe crack-brain. Him want many things. No reason. No can help."

He points to his own dot, smiles. "Luuk great warior. Very clever. Luuk want see many place. You should show Luuk many place."
>>
So, you have a list of the chiefs, where they are, what some of them want, and a smiling Luuk in your solar.

>Wat do?
>>
>>23671462
>smiling Luuk
Pray you don't see some places I've seen.

>wat do?

Save Gorda for later. He's no threat. We should move to coerce who'd be the most useful in the short and long term.

I say Murwin. If we play his game, it wouldn't cost good blood or steel to bring him to a knee. If he's as clever as Luuk says, he could be valuable in bringing the others to heel.
>>
>>23671563
>Gorda's no threat.

How do we know that? So he's complacent when given food and booze. That doesn't necessarily mean he's stupid or unskilled.

Lazy, yes, but lazy people can be brilliant.
>>
>>23671633
If he's that easily placated by some creature comforts, he'd be easily turned against us if we went after him first. At least with Murwin there'd be a measure of earned respect to keep him from immediately backstabbing us.
>>
>>23671689
>he'd be easily turned against us if we went after him first.

Why would that happen?

I'd think he'd be more insulted if we didn't talk to him first.
>>
>>23671689
>Why would that happen?
Sorry, I meant more that if he's that easily bribed, he could be bribed against us if we don't have enough force to back up our will.
>>
So is the consensus Murwin or Gorda?
First one to get 2 supporting is what we'll go with.
>>
>>23671969
Murwin
>>
>>23671969
I vote Gorda
>>
>>23671988
He'll be easily swayed bribed against us but I truly don't see that happening in the brief period between talking to him and talking to Murwin. Plus, if Murwin's so smart then he'll be more likely to ally with someone who already has three chiefs showing fealty.
>>
>>23671969

Murwin I guess
>>
>>23672011
>Plus, if Murwin's so smart then he'll be more likely to ally with someone who already has three chiefs showing fealty.

Just because the other chiefs have allied with some Iron making lord doesn't necessarily mean that the Iron Lord is a good one.

It could mean that the other chiefs are gullible and stupid.
>>
Looking at the map, it seems that to get to Gorda, we'd have to Vil-ak's territory first.
If we do recruit Gorda first, I'm not sure if being surrounded would make Vil-ak easier or harder to recruit.
Mugwin, meanwhile, seems closest to Ut's territory, and the river seems pretty narrow in that area.
>>
>>23672011
Compromise. Murwin then Gorda immediately afterwards? It seems like our primary immediate goal is taking out Ut, and I'd prefer it if we foster loyalty with the more useful chiefs early on.

Alternately, >>23672039 has a good point. Vil-ak seems to be a likely future ally as well. It may be possible for us to sway him first?

And that's two.

You nod to Luuk. "We'll talk to Murwin first. Clever men are always useful allies."
Luuk nods at this.

The next few days are uninteresting. You show Luuk around the castle grounds, he trains a bit with the Bloodsmiths, and you watch on.

As a point of order, you didn't take a House action for this month before going to the battle.

Would you like to initiate one before you depart to sway the chiefs?
If not, we'll proceed to your encounter with Murwin.
>>
>>23672098

If we don't make a House action this month, may we use 2 actions next month?

Or does it disappear?
>>
>>23672122
It disappears.
>>
>>23671005

We should get a maester first.
>>
>>23671281
>>23672011
And as for wealth I vote we establish a gold-mine. That gives us an extra +2 everytime we increase wealth AND since we've already got the smelter that doubles it to +4. Plus, mining's our thing.

I think a fishmonger's wharf should wait, certainly until we have at least a few fishing fleets which, living on a river might be a while. Also, we can't produce fishing fleets locally so, yeah, mines instead.

Since mine's are only 10 wealth I reckon we should use a small amount of our left-over wealth equipping our personal guard and guerrilas with castle-forged weapons, we've got good blacksmithing capabilities, lets use it.
>>
>>23672134
Speaking of Things you could get, Ser Clamon takes you aside one morning, and asks if the town might look into getting a Sept soon.
"I have missed having a place to pray to the Seven, milord," he confides. "And, it would seem wise, given the deal you made of blasphemy when you defeated Oskar Stone, to show your people your faith."

(OOC: This is the character's want, not my suggestion, I'm fine with whatever you guys want.)
>>
>>23672194

I don't see anything wrong with getting a Sept.
>>
>>23672194
I say build a sept in a couple of months ... after we've swayed Vil-ak to our cause.
>>
Are we think this through? I mean sure get one or two tribes at our call they could serve as excellent scouts and auxiliary but too many of them and they can turn into a problem to control and manage. Not to mention what our neighbors and regular peasants will feel went they heart we are being a little to nice to the Hill men. I am just saying limit the the number of tribes we keep in our call low one or two at most
>>
>>23672134
No argument there. We should send for one ASAP.

>House action
>>23672193
>gold mine
You can't eat gold. What's our current food production? Are we relying on imports to feed all these mouths?

>sept
Always a good option. I'm fine with this even if the wharf is put on the backburner. I'm just worried about our realm collapsing on itself like some sort of feudal North Korea. Full stomachs and a content population are the backbone of any realm.
>>
>>23672098
I believe that have some power that I want to convert into law. Also I would make plans to expand our mining operation (Buy extended Mineworks) as soon as we get five more wealth.
>>
>>23672248

>Food production
Now that the raiding's ending, your farmers and so on will be heading back out to their homes and fields. You've some fishers. Your population, while numerous, is not in any danger of starving without some serious changes.

I see a couple votes for a Maester, and people suggesting we put the sept and wharf on the back burner, wait until we've got more money.

Any objections?
>>
>>23672215
I doubt construction would be immediate.
>>
>>23672248
Can't eat faith or a maester's knowledge either. A gold mine will pay for itself in three months, any other upgrade will take much longer to pay us back.

Our realm is not going to collapse from lack of food for a long while and, even if it were, a fishmonger's wharf wouldn't help when we don't have any fishing fleets.

Same with sept and maester, they don't have as immediate effect as a gold mine and a sept will make it harder to sway Vil-Ak, just wait until next month for it.
>>
>>23672299
I object to the maester, don't think we need one this month. Would rather saveup to improve our iron mine or buy a gold mine.
>>
>>23672299

I Maester definitive the sept will have to wait for next time.
>>
>>23672320

Maester pays itself every month, is a boost to our standing and gives great advice.
>>
>>23672254
I'd prefer to spend the power on some more soldiers and send them out to strike against the bandits. That way we improve our law AND at the end of it we still have some soldiers.

Personally, I think Veteran Special troops with Awareness, Stealth and Fighting would make pretty good bandit-fighters, plus they provide the stealthy backup our guerrilas lack.
>>
>>23672357
Gold mine (or extended mineworks) synergise much better with our existing features though.
>>
>>23672242

This is worth considering. Without anything to keep them busy, the tribes may start to get antsy and start raiding again.
>>
>>23672299
Actually, on checking again, you can't get a maester. It requires Influence 20 or higher.

>>23672302
A gold mine will pay for itself in 5 months, not 3.
Further, at present you don't know the location of any gold veins. You'd be initiating construction hoping to find gold in the Painted Dogs lands.
>>
>>23672299
>not in any danger of starving without some serious changes.
In that case I concede my point, but it's still something to be careful about in the future. Food production is a longterm investment and we shouldn't ignore it completely for mining.

>hoping to find gold in the Painted Dogs lands.

Okay, prospecting on their land isn't a good idea right at this moment. Maybe we should just go for the sept.
>>
>>23672394

Save the gold mine for later then, is not like we are in the westerlands where gold is easier to find. If there are no objections the maester could help us getting our lands up and running faster.
>>
>>23672389
Personally I'd much prefer to keep the whole "Chief of Iron" thing under wraps as much as possible. That way our image won't be tarnished by association (common folk and lords alike will NOT like this alliance) and we can send them raiding against rival mining magnates. Can't exactly do that if everyone knows they're our auxillaries.

Plus, even if we do ally with them officially, they're useless if we're at peace with everyone around us. They'll just start fighting amongst themselves and before you know it they're raiding us again AND the people of the veil think we're stupid scum for ever allying with them.

>>23672394
Isn't a gold mine a metal-based feature? Wouldn't the smelter improve it's effect?
>>
As a clarification, given some of the arguments: You are choosing to INITIATE construction. It will not be done by the end of the month.

A sept requires a minimum of a year to build, a new mine anywhere from 3 months to 18. The only thing that you can get that would be done within the month is potentially the Fishmonger's wharf.

So don't worry about "what will vil-Ak think". That will be solved long before your church is done.

>>23672193
Your guerillas are already armed with castleforged steel, as are your Infantry. They took your "distribute the wealth among the men" command a little liberally.
>>
>>23672480
Hmmm. By the pastebin, I would say no, since the other mine options don't include it in their progression.
I would say that it affects Jewelers, Bankers, and Moneylenders if you get a gold mine.
>>
>>23672543
>>23672490
Well both my synergy and Vil-Ak arguments are moot. I still think a gold mine is the best investment but a sept or saving up to get either a maester or extended mineworks (when we're able to) also sound good.
>>
>>23672619
Think we should start on the sept since it's going to take awhile to build.

Page, if we start on the sept, is there any way we can set up a small shrine to the Seven near the foundation? This way we can provide a place to pray while the sept is built.
>>
>>23672480

Here is my plan, convince Tor and maybe (maybe) Vil-ak to help us take UT down permanently (We get our shipments back). We will compensate them accordingly( gold or iron ) and have a little local alliance of mutual defense against other hill tribes. Tor and Vil-ak will have the benefit of our weapons and armor (by trade this time) while we will no longer get raid by anyone less they like the taste of our combine forces. This way we maintain the benefits of the relation with Tor without getting too close and suffer the backlash from the common folk and other nobles.
>>
>>23672714
UT?
>>
>>23672714
Honestly, I really want them raiding our competitors, maybe not an official thing but encourage them a bit. Our guy's a reviled apparent-madman who hates basically everyone. Seems in character AND they'll have to buy our iron to fight off the raiders
>>
>>23672814

Map says UT is right next to us and he has most of our stolen shit.
>>
I think we've stalled on the discussions of what you guys want to build, so I'm going to press on to the Murwin events, and we can revisit this afterward, during, whatever. If we resolve it, I'll count it as if you decided before we did the Tribesmen.

>>23672700
You certainly could.

After a few days, you ride out with Luuk, to the camp of Murwin. It is an a old stand of forest, a few miles from the edge of your territory, close to the river. As you ride up, sentries challenge you, but Luuk calls back, and they allow you to pass, though one lets out a cry like a wounded hawk as you ride by.

Within a few minutes, you're in the camp. It's a squalid affair, but not so much more so than some hamlets you've seen. True, the houses are more temporary, but they have a sense of care to them. From a larger hut emerges a thin man, in a robe of black feathers.

"Ah, it is the great Will-Yam, The Chief of Iron, The Thunder-Armed! Come, please, let your horses rest. You are in the camp of Murwin Crow-Kin, and it is a good day to die!"

This last bit puts you a little on edge, but it appears to be a colloquialism.

You dismount your steed, and follow him into the hut. There, he has a small pig roasting on a spit, and at least 15 people gathered in it.

"We are not as private as your civilized tastes may like, Will-yam, but we are happy in our own way. What brings you to the roost of the Crow-kin?"
>>
>>23672862

Well we perfectly could do it eventually. It could just take a little planing and coordination, but lets just clean our house before we go fucking other's OK?
>>
>>23672912
>>23672862
>>23672905
On the topic of cleaning up our house, I vote that instead of spending our wealth on something that won't help us, we to bring some law and order to our realm.

Not only is our realm pretty goddamn lawless, it's also overcrowded. We have too much population and it's harming our fortune. I vote we launch a mass recruitment drive and then next month train up these new troops as town guards and lawmakers.

By converting 15 population to power we bring our population down to the best level for house fortune. Then next month we can convert that spare power to law, bringing our lands from unusually lawless to unusually lawful. Shows what our lord can do once he stops moping around an empty castle and helps simulate the effect of the sudden reduction in tribal raidings.
>>
>>23673064

Excellent idea I support it, we can use that power to get our cavalry up another level of training.
>>
>>23672905

As you open your mouth to answer, he interrupts.
"I am jesting, Will-yam. Murwin is wise to the ways of chiefs, and those of Lords. You have bested Tor, and now you wish to make the Painted Dogs your weapon, not a threat on your borders. And so you come to Murwin. For he is second closest, after fearsome Ut, and he is cleverest."
He smiles.
"A secret, Will-yam?" And as he confides, he cuts from the the roasting pig, and eats. "I am thought so clever because, twenty years ago, I was much like you. Not high-born, no, but a well-liked and cunning boy. So perhaps not so much like you after all, eh?" He laughs at his dig. "But then my home was raided by the Crow-kin. I fought, and was laid low. But I regained my wits before they were done, and attacked again. And they knocked me on my ass again. Three times I got up and fought them. This time, they said "This is a sign." I had fallen twice, I had great wounds!" He moves his robe to show an ugly scar on his side, and shifts his hair to show one on his head. "And still I rose and fought! I must be sent by Crow to be a part of this people! And so, over time, I became a part of the Crow-kin. And now, I am Chief! Because I am clever. And I only like to follow clever people." His eyes suddenly narrow.

"Let us see how clever you are, William Bordain."

"A blue serpent turns white, a vein goes dry, but the world candle will bring it back in time. What is it?"
>>
>>23673195
So we're agreed? 17 population to power?
>>
>>23673216
Summer, or something along those lines.
>>
>>23673249

Sure, I only wonder if we are allow to do the much that fast.
>>
>>23673216
A river, freezing white and solid in winter before the sun of summer brings it back.
>>
>>23673216

A frozen river.
>>
>>23673267
We can convert any amount but only from one resource to another. Can't convert our new power to soldiers or law this month.
>>
>>23673216

>Blue serpent turns white

Perhaps a river freezing over?

>A vein goes dry

A frozen river doesn't yield water. Or fish, or anything else. Not unless you hack away at it real good, anyhow. Or unless the ice is real thin.

>World Candle will bring it back in time

The sun brings back the "wet" to the vein. Sun melts ice on river, river is now useable again.

I think he may be speaking of a river.
>>
>>23673285
>>23673297

Murwin smiles. "Good, good. An easy one. Next!

Once we stood as brothers
Now we lie as close as lovers
Still we sway,
as we lay
hauling things for others.

What are we?"
>>
>>23673354
The planks sawn from standing trees and nailed together to build the ships that carry our iron down the river [whatever our main river is called]
>>
>>23673354

Perhaps a rope?

Get fibers from trees or tree-like substance. Then twist fibers until you make a thicker twisty fiber.

Repeat ad nauseam until you get a rope.

Rope is used to haul things. And it can sway in a strong enough breeze, and is capable of being laid on the ground.

Rolled 4, 6, 3, 4 = 17

>>23673979
>>
>Half a forged chain, followed by all of an option

A chain can also be called a link. So half of that would make either "Li" or "Nk".

Followed by all of an option. No idea here.
>>
>>23674004
Then here's a hint.

The two options are separate ways to get the same answer.

Forged chain is probably a kenning for "maester"

Giving hints is hard. It's the fine line between "unhelpful" and "now you blew it."
>>
Rolled 3, 1, 3, 2 = 9

>>23674039
an option?
choice?
>>
>>23674066
Oh, and your roll is high enough to just get it, so if you guys end up stumped, we can just have William answer it.
>>
Rolled 3, 1, 5, 2 = 11

>>23674134
Yeah, I'm stumped
>>
>>23674134
>>23674193

Yeah, me too.
>>
>>23674134

Let's have Wil-yam answer it. Can't think of anything that really makes sense right now.
>>
Is the first part of it acolyte? It is the step before maester, where you only have half a chain. And at night, you would cry out for a "light"
>>
>>23674193
>>23674212
>>23674220

Fat and happy...a fool...

Half a forged chain? probably a reference to maester... mae, or maes, or ster, or... Or. Not a specific option, but the very presence of one! Steror, maesor, mae-or...

"Mayor." You answer.

"Well done! Quick-witted Chief of Iron!" Murwin crows. "So then, clever man. Can you guess what Murwin wants for his nameday?"

You reflect on the conversation.
"You want to be Mayor? And a ship?"
"Ah, I knew you were a smart one. Many peaks in this region. You're going to be doing a lot more mining,if Murwin isn't wrong. And why process it all through your town? Set up a little one, right here on the river. A little mining town up here, to organize all the riches you'll pull from these hills!"

(Quick note, I forgot to consult the map, Murwin's camp is actually a couple leagues away, not a "few miles".The best way to think on this is to look at the map Your area is about 2 square leagues.)
>>
>>23674392

>Mayor

WHAT!?
>>
>>23674392
That sounds perfectly reasonable to me, and could ultimately be economically beneficial.
I think we might be able to get him a ship pretty easily, but building a town sounds like it could take a while.
>>
>>23674392
Wonderful! This is exactly the kind of stuff we wanted. And having them incorporated into our lands as an town means they are less likely to betray us and then fade away into the hills.
>>
>>23674392

And with you there to keep running things smoothly, eh?
>>
>>23674434
The other path was ma-yore. Murwin thought it worked.

>>23674392

Now knowing Murwin's price, you tell him you will think on this, but first you must sway the other chiefs, or you will have no reason to build his town. But, assuming all goes well, you will be happy to accede.
He nods sagely, "I see William does not count his chickens before they are hatched. Wise and clever."

You head on with his blessing.

Which chief next?
>>
>>23674548
>>23674558
>>23674548
>>23674578

(Sorry about jumping you, I just want to get as many chiefs down as possible, I didn't honestly expect it to take all night to get them, but it's been a slow evening.)
>>
Rolled 2, 2, 5, 2 = 11

>>23674628
Rogar I think, either we get him or we don't, good to know now.
>>
>>23674585
>Which chief next?

I say try Gorda.
>>
>>23674777
second
>>
>>23674716
>>23674777
>>23674880

We'll do Rogar, and then Gorda. Luuk may wonder at the order, but a Lord may ride as much as he pleases! (I was halfway through the intro when 4880 posted)

You ride south, following the River, while Luuk describes Rogar. It is a conversation fraught with pauses and sighs of frustration, and more than a few times, you have to teach him the word for a concept he couldn't express. The picture you acquire is a strange one.

Rogar, as near as you can tell, is a deeply spiritual man. More so than even Vil-ak. But Rogar does not care about the form of worship. He believes that living is worship. He wears no armor in battle, and carries no shield. He wields a single great sword, supposedly forged in the "Fire at the Start of the World." He was told by a crone the secret of his death, and fears nothing. He acts for reasons that are vague to other men, supposedly hearing the "song of the world."

As you ride into his camp, his men eye you, no trace of fear in their gaze. You find him, rubbing his sword, almost as one would a lover, and staring into a campfire.

You approach him.
"Rogar, I-"
"Shhhhhh." He holds up his hand, continuing to stare into the flames. There is a brief period, where the only sound is the shuffing breath of a horse, and the crackle of the flame.
He raises his head, and rises, his sword point dragging in the ground as he approaches you. You notice that he is painted from the roots of his hair to the tips of his toes, and there is only a loin cloth about his waist. He bears a few scars, but disturbingly few for a man who goes into battle unarmored.
He stares into your eyes, with wide, pale blue ones, and place his hand against your chest.
"Where is your mother?" He asks, softly, as if concerned.
>>
Rolled 4, 3, 2, 4 = 13

>>23674987
Far from here, cross the mountains and walk until the sun sets over the ocean and then you might find her
>>
>>23675078
Goddamnit, every time i think I've deleted the dice they come back
>>
>>23675078
He nods solemnly.
"You come a great way. And done dark things. But a man must. What is your most proud?"
>>
>>23675144
Pride - hah - when a man has done certain things, pride loses relevance.
>>
>>23675144
Crap, what are we proud of?
I mean we hate pretty much everything.
The only thing I could think we have to be proud of is the bloodsmiths and our steward etc, that we have men as fine as them at our side.
>>
>>23675206

They've certainly gone through a lotta shit with us. And they've never stopped believing in us nor has their loyalty wavered, even after that ugly business with the Targaryen children.

It's actually a bit humbling, in truth.
>>
>>23675279
'I take pride in the strong bond I have with my men, *gesture to bloodsmiths* for we have endured both the highs and lows of life together.'
>>
>>23675144

"My Steward, and the Bloodsmiths. I may not be a good man, but I know that they are. And that's good enough."

(My suggestion. Could be shitty, and probably is)
>>
>>23675206
>>23675279

"My men. That they have followed me, and believed me. Even when I did bad, that they held me as their chief."

Rogar nods again.
"It is a good chief, who has such men."

He settles on something.
"Rogar has price for kneeling. He must hear the song of your iron, start to finish. Rogar sleep, eat, and breathe in your mine. Then he shall hear it be melted, and hammered, and shaped. And then, I shall hear it sing when we fight against each other." he nods, and extends his hand.
>>
>>23675385
Deal
>>
>>23675385
So...he basically wants to watch a new sword be forged from the very start, and then duel against us with it?

Sounds good to me, agree to his deal and shake his hand.
>>
>>23675385
So he wants to work as a blacksmith... then duel us?

Hell, why not, it's not like his Valyrian steel is going to be any less lethal.
>>
>>23675385
Sounds good.
So are we the ones destined to kill him, and he was just taking our measure?
>>
>>23675432
>>23675438
>>23675450

What did Luuk say? Rogar's a weird one.

And with that, I have to say, I must call it an evening. I'll be back here tomorrow at 5 pm, PST, or 20:00 Server time, with the next installment of Knock-Off Game of Thrones Quest!

NEXT TIME: The last three chiefs! Fun times with Tollett, and, if we're lucky, A FETE!

Feel free to chat in the thread, I'll see about archiving it.
>>
>>23675385
Deal (Oh dear we might be teaching the hill folk to forge)
>>
So have we reached the point where, win or lose, people are going to write poems and/or songs about us?
Because these trials are Epic in the Classic sense.
>>
>>23675450
Actually, can we have a look at his sword? I'm assuming it is Valyrian and that's worth checking out.

Then head to the next chief on our list
>>
>>23675519
Eh, even if they know how, it still takes a lot of resources and effort to do it.
That reminds me, if we have some free time, who's up for us taking blacksmithing as a hobby?
It seems like it'd suit our character, but I'm not sure how damaging it would be to our reputation.
>>

>>23675539
Hilariously, that's about to come up.
>>
>>23675544
We'll know soon enough.
We might as well prepare as if it is Valyrian, and be pleasantly surprised if it isn't.
>>
>>23675515
We still haven't celebrated our recent victories with a wench have we?

I am disappoint.
>>
>>23675519
Yeah, I'm afraid that'll be our BADEND too but even if they do start forging I think we can crush them. Hopefully it'll be a piecemeal thing with at least Luuk and Tor aiding us against the others but even if we do have to fight them all I think we'll be fine. We have a 62 power and anything above 61 is described as "you have most of the strength of the Seven Kingdoms behind you" that might be some major hyperbole but we're still a big power in the military game and we could up that very quickly.
>>
How long until the fete?

Or our meeting with Lord Tollett?
>>
>>23675665
Small clarifier: The number outside of the parentheses is the amount FREE, while the number inside is your TOTAL.
You have 54 power, 8 of it unused.
>>
We're still looking to turn the hill tribes into a banner house right? I mean we civilise them up and it'll still be looked at badly but give it a generation or two and they'll fit right in.

In the mean time we can easily fill all of the chieftains requests as part of creating the house.
>>
>>23675828
>looking to turn the hill tribes into a banner house

...

We're following in Tywin's footsteps.

Making ourselves a Painted Hound.
>>
>>23675877
Technically he hasn't done that yet in this timeline.
>>
>>23675665
I mean, just running the numbers here in two months we could have more than 59 power ready to spend without draining our population to a level where it would harm our house fortune.

IIRC from Princely's thread each unit you buy is 100 soldiers so we could have
>>5900 green guerillas, scounts, medics or engineers
Bear in mind the total population of the hill tribes is only 5000 including non-combatants AND they're all green as well.
>>2600 green archers, raiders or trained criminals
>>(almost) 1200 trained infantry, crusaders or special
>>650 elite infantry, crusaders or special
>>
>>23675791
I know, I figured the total was what they counted as far as describing your strength in general terms. Regardless, population trades into power at 1:1 and wealth at 2:1. We could raise one hell of an army
>>650 elite infantry
>>Elite infantry described as equivalent to Unsullied
>>3000 Unsullied take 50,000 Dothraki
>>We can take 10,833 Dothraki

GODDAMN
>>
>>23676221
Actually let's take this further
650 Elite infantry
100 Elite guerrilas
20 Elite personal guard
20 Veteran cavalry
100 Veteran infantry
>>Dothraki are veterans
>>Most armies at the start of the war of Five Kings are merely trained
>>We can take 10,000+ veteran infantry from our Elite Infantry alone
>>Our guerillas personal guard could probably take another 3000
>>Tywin Lannister musters a force of merely 35,000 (many not more than trained)
Throw in 5000 or so wildmen and we gun seriously fuck up shit up when the War of Five Kings rolls around
>>
>>23676429
>we gun seriously fuck up shit up when the War of Five Kings rolls around

An Iron Throne for an Iron King.
>>
>>23676263
Hush, my maths doesn't work if you bring logic into it
>>
>>23676429
>>23676447
In the more immediate future, isn't the Iron Island rebellion just a few years away?
>>
>>23676521

I wonder if we can make catapults which can hit way out in the sea.
>>
>>23676429
And even further
>>Assume all months we get to add at least +1 to two stats (some months we'll get more, some months less but lets average)
>>If we put 1 in power and 1 in wealth and convert to power we get an average of 5.5 power every month
>>We can buy 100 Elite infantry and 200 green guerillas every 2 months

... how many months until the Greyjoy Rebellion guys?
>>
>>23676592
>>Every year that passes we gain enough soldiers to take an extra 10,000 soldiers, only counting our elite troops
>>In 3.4 years we have enough soldiers to defeat the combined armies of the Westerlands, The Riverlands and The North
>>In 11 years we have enough soldiers to defeat the combined armies of The Stormlands, The Reach, The North, The Westerlands and The Riverlands
>>tfw I couldn't find numbers for the forces of Dorne, The Vale or the Iron Islands
>>
>>23676592
>We can buy 100 Elite infantry and 200 green guerillas every 2 months

Are we trying to get more law or start a massive take over of the Vale?
>>
>>23676743
Take over ... The Vale? H-have you not seen my maths?
>>
>>23676832

Yes, but that was before I read the one that you posted right as I did.

I say this Quest ends with us trying to overtake Westeros.

Do we care about living? Fuck it! It's ending anyway, might as well go out with a big fuckin' bang!
>>
>>23676592

About 45
>>
>>23676741
>>23676832
And we have 4 years until the Greyjoy rebellion and 13 until Eddard Stark dies
>>
Yay, maths is fun
