Okay, here's our starting position. We are Haesteinn of Nantes, founder of our own dynasty.

We have some pretty awesome stats, and the real Haesteinn previously spent quite some time down in the Mediterranean pillaging the fuck out of it. The game is kind enough to provide us with a large amount of special event troops.

We have a baby son called Ragnarr and our current ambition is to be king of Brittany.

Before that, though, we might as well take our troops and use them to get enough money and prestige so we can conquer good old Brittany.

We start our Viking Tour of Kill-Death in Navarra.

We land upon their coastal capital to find that the defense they can muster is poultry. So we not only raid the place, but siege it.

Everything burns.

We return from our trip to Spain with a little gold and some prestige. It's not huge, but it's decent enough to help us get Brittany under our boot.

Unfortunately the Christians were too cowardly to face us in a fight and thus we captured no prisoners. Still, maybe later.

The Bretons are current helping against an Ummayad holy war, with their troops away we made it known that we are preparing to invade them.

It is decided that we will wait for more ambitious brethren to aid us before launching the invasion

Our wife is taken from us in a sickness. A brave woman with our love of money, she was a content and good wife. We are sad to see her go.

The only woman who will take our hand in marriage appears to be some Lithuanian who worships some silly and not as cool Gods. She must suffice.

We will do as Odin wills and set off our invasion.

Behold. I've broken the game as the Aztecs. Nobody dares invade me, so I can't westernise, so I can't build boats (seriously) so I can't explore. I mean, according to the Start Up map, Papal States owns parts of the Caribbean. It sucks. I'm near 1700 and just farming technology, Aztec's with muskets and cannons. I'm also stupidly rich.

But, joking aside, I love CKII. Old Gods is basically amazing. It has fixed the fucking "Hit it and Quit It" Technology, which was "Farming, Military Tactics and Legalism" you just let it max. In The Old Gods, you can invest as you see fit. Also, if you're a Viking Nation, you get to raid various places for cash. I often create stupidly over-powered characters, giving them great buffs and debuffs, then using console to cure debuffs. I once had a dude with 101 Military, but even leading an army with even numbers, he still lost to a Viking attack. I mean, how?

We have a massive and fearsome viking army. Also some Scots I hired because hey, why not.

The Breton forces are down in Spain. For some reason they fear the Muslims as a threat to their faith more than us. Personally, they seem like the same deal to me - both scream as much when you shove a sword in their face.

I mean, early in the game, I got an event that gave me a Big Boat, which I used to capture 1 more, I then tried to capture more pirates, but it never happened. I then lost the ship. I can't find the Event code to spawn a ship using console, it's the only way I can explore now. Even if I make Mayans a Vassal, nobody will invade them and allow me to gain western tech.

I've already mentioned. It fixes the technology. In technology (without Old Gods) you click a thing to focus and it takes ages. But the 'focus' is pointless as the most important things you should make it focus on are Farming, Military Tactics and Legalism. You never touch the menu after that. Now, you gain Technology points every month, which you save or spend on upgrading what you want. There we go.

It also allows you to conduct raids if you're a Viking Nation. It's added more events for all the other religions. Specific to them.

The raiding mechanic, as seen here, is new. It allows pagans to raise their troops, put on raid mode, and cross the border to take gold/prisoners WITHOUT war being declared.

To be honest, it can be insanely overpowered. If you jsut go around looting places as a viking and getting your men to the ship before any troops come, you rack up insane amounts of cash and prestige.

Their are new events, which I will show off later.

It adds reformation events for all religions based on a new feature called holy sites. that add to the moral authority of the religion.

Pagan conversion is also more complex.

The tech system has been completely revamped and improved.

I could go on more, but I should get back to the LP. If this will ever fucking post... WHICH I AM PRETTY SURE IT WON'T.

I will be honest. This invasion could have gone better.

However we won that battle and spend some time chasing the filthy cowardly Christians off. They are so cowardly they run off before we can take any prisoners. Christians can be no fun sometimes.

Anyway, we mop up the rest of the Breton resistance.

We'll be fair to them - they put up a hell of a lot of a fight. We've spent quite a bit of cash gold due to the mercenaries we hired and a lot of our special troops are now dead.

Still, there looks to be little hope for them now.
