And in my personal opinion, Elf and Vampire races are some of the best.

Elf races are great if you can inspire promiscuity in the race to speed up reproduction. Also make sure to use their magic to aid in those efforts.

Elves are also good fighters, and /tg/ tends to plan with them very well.

Vampires are good for obvious reasons, tough as shit, immortal, great spies and saboteurs, can infect other civilizations just by sending a scout over there and letting him wreak havoc.

Last thread Gronk and the gang raided a second goblin encampment, taking numerous additional slaves. Unlike the previous batch, these slaves are unbroken and are therefore referred to as 'prisoners'. During the fight, Gronk ate and devoured a Minotaur, along with a few of Ragnar's fingers. (Hint: Look at the Minotaurs bonuses, Gronk has one now).

Moruk was sent to the foot hills of the mountains to raid and generally bother outlying settlements. He took several goblins with them, intending to leave clues making it seem like goblins were responsible.

Tak-Tak was sent to the dwarves to trade gold for axes. He has not yet returned.

After the great feast, Gronk made an announcement. He decreed that all those slaves that had been taken in the first raid were now considered to be superior to the new arrivals. Only they were allowed to use the breeding tent, and only they were allowed to use weapons. He also had the stick throwers moved to the other end of the temple from the prisoners. While not deadly to a troll, they could be painful nuisances. The days following were thick with feasts and worship. The traditional way of worshipping was to bring gifts to the Big Papa or to shout his name from the highest point of the mountain. A new idea was brought forward by the young bulls, who wished to display their strength and skill before Gronk. They spent time wrestling for his amusement, sometimes until one troll was a bloody mess on the floor.

The rest of the time was spent honing the tribe’s already formidable combat skills. Hours were spent using the weapons that had since been retrieved for the ruined camp. Most were too small for trolls, but some of the larger weapons were used to replace the stone blades on the tribe’s axes. This made the weapons lighter and sharper but somewhat less secure, as Ragnar was unable to bind the metal to the wood as he had the previous versions. Some days the higher ranking goblins were taken out into the snows to train with the stick throwers. They quickly became frighteningly accurate, but were still slow to reload. Ammunition was not a problem, as many bolts had been recovered from the ruined camp.

In my mind, quite similar to a very large gorilla. Long arms with much shorter legs, with large tusks sprouting out of its mouth. Maybe Ragnar knew what had happened to his fingers, maybe not. He must have suspected something when Gronk suddenly began to throw rocks around the mountain with nothing but his voice. It had taken a long time for Gronk to master this element, but now his effort seemed to be repaid with interest. His studies in earth magic picked up much faster than when he first tamed the flame. There was still something outside his control though. Rock seemed to obey his every command, but earth and wood were deaf to him. Try as he might, the Big Papa couldn’t shift them. Ragnar had a few theories, but both trolls knew the real reason. The fingers weren’t enough.

Many days were also spent with prisoners. Gronk talked to most of them, surprising them with his mastery of the common tongue. He asked about Märlas, the human city some way south of the mountains. He questioned them about its chief, allegiance and military strength. The first few refused to answer, and were surprised when Gronk killed and ate them. He thought it was surprise on their faces, though it might have been terror. Quite quickly, the rest opened up. Märlas wasn’t part of any kingdom, they said. No-one wanted the northern lands, so it was a neutral space. People came there when they couldn’t go anywhere else, or if they were doing something that would be frowned upon by society. Ragnar mentioned that attacking Märlas was unlikely to kindle a reprisal, but would generate a great deal of notoriety. Once he explained that word to Gronk, the chief gave a chuckle. It sounded like something he wanted.

Man days passed without the return of Tak-Tak or a progress report from Moruk. Gronk was not overly worried, but sent runners to the last known location of both errant subjects. The rest of his time was spent on Stone magic. Along with Ragnar, he experimented with creating armour for his bulls. He had seen how effective the horned creature’s armour had been and wished to replicate it. However, stone and wood made poor defences. Wood was too brittle and stone wasn’t malleable enough. One of the goblins suggested goat skin, one thing the tribe had in abundance, which could be soaked in water to make it more resistant to fire. After some questioning, the goblin admitted to knowing more than little about armour. He had been the original camp smith, and knew how to work metal. With a furnace, smithy, and some tools, he claimed he could create a full metal suit of armour. He said that melting down the looted weapons would provide more than enough metal.

Three days after the runners left, something happened to once again stir Gronk’s anger. Three of the human slaves slipped their bonds, stole some stick throwers and food before fleeing into the night. Gronk elected to pursue them himself, killing two and bringing one back alive. Alive does not in this case mean unharmed, as the man had no arms. Although it was clear the humans were discontent with their imprisonment, that they had the nerve to believe that they could outrun a full tribe of trolls angered Gronk immensely. In his ire, he ordered every human male to have the tendons connecting their feet to their legs severed. The screams filled the cave for hours, outmatched only by those of the lone human female. Gronk vented his displeasure on her, though not in a violent way. She survived the night with nothing but her womb injured.

Is that refering to the women?

After the night of the crippling, many humans died from blood loss. Still more died later from infection, when their wounds went green and they began to refuse food. Some survived, their wills sharpened by the pain. When they looked at Gronk, he could feel their hate. It was so strong it was almost palatable. In his hind brain, he knew that they would die to kill him, making them a risk. On the other hand, such strength of feeling was hard to create, and would be a powerful weapon if it could be used.

Gronk spent more and more time in conference with his new goblin ‘friend’. He had dubbed him ’Tink-Tank’, and promised to make him chief over all the slaves if he could deliver all he said. It did not escape Gronk’s notice that he had made the same promise to Tak-Tak. He knew that the little scribe’s usefulness had almost come to an end. If he returned with the axes, it might be time for him to have a little accident. Gronk also questioned him about creating a forge, smithy and furnace. The answers did not please him. The goblin didn’t know how to build a forge, and it was a precise art. The heat had to be exactly right, and alterable when the smith choose. This required precise measurements and an attention to detail that Gronk knew he did not have. The rest of Gronk’s days were spent honing his magics, particularly his projections. He knew that a giant flaming troll would inspire fear in the heart of any enemy, a weapon that was just as useful as his new axe.

On a night full of snow and sleet, Tak-Tak returned. He was hardly recognisable and wrapped in a material that Gronk knew was familiar but couldn’t quite place. Although he seemed unhurt, the little creature shook and shivered even when next to a roaring fire. His eyes portrayed a hunted feeling, and he stared at shadows. When at last he was persuaded to talk, his tale was a harrowing one. When he and his troll accomplices approached the dwarven mine, they had been allowed all the way to the front gate. They had arrived and waited, being sure that the dwarves had look outs. After some time, the gates had opened and a small group of dwarves had come out. As they approached, Tak-Tak had walked forward to meet them. Only that had saved him from the fate that befell the trolls. He had gone a few steps when something whooshed over his head. Spinning around, he saw both trolls fall the floor and heard their screams. On his other side, he heard a mighty war cry. When he turned, the dwarves were charging. On their way paced, on punched him in the face. He fell to the ground and didn’t rise.
When he awoke, the little goblin found himself in a pitch black room. It was cold and wet, with a little slit of light coming from a grating in the door. After some hours of this dank, dark prison, a dwarf dragged him out. He was thrown from the gate and told to go back to the temple with a message. The message was this; Trolls shouldn’t try to make deals, they’re not smart enough. We’ll keep the gold, and won’t slaughter you in exchange. When Tak-Tak said he’d freeze before he made it back, the dwarves laughed. A cloak was thrown to him, one that was obviously newly made. It was then that Gronk realised what Tak-Tak was wearing. It was troll fur.

I don't think they're going to go look for us. What they did with Tak-Tak was supposed to scare us, I think. So we've got time to prepare.

If Moruk is successful, maybe we can continue the raids to get the proper tools to start forging weapons and armor for ourselves. Then we can assault the dwarves.
