To recap, we're the the deeply religious lizardfolk cult of Otimgo the Green Dragon, mightiest of all scaled beasts. We escaped our homelands after 1. nearly being crushed by our hated enemy, the INSECTS, and 2. being persecuted as heretics by the High Priesthood of the Swamp Mother. We've built up a settlement, started a brush war with a human mining settlement, and pledged ourselves to serve Otimgo the Green with our lives.

tl;dr lizards fighting humans for dragon

F. Train Magic

F. Post a sentry to watch the forest for movement
>>
>>26011441
It may be cold bit we can still think... kinda. Research better armor.
Otherwise train for the coming spring-war
>>
>>26011514
I also proposed that we wait until summer to attack, as we'd have a new brood of warriors by then. If we don't want to wait that long, we can probably take the town in the spring, too.

B. Research tech. Perhaps hunting and war would be made easier if we had a device to help us throw our javelins farther and more accurately. (IRL, this thing is called an atlatl)

B. Have Gyandat practice his spell some more.
>>
>>26011441
F, we need more eggs to bolster our ranks.
E, some dedicated training areas taht allw us to increase the capabilities of our troops faster would be nice

Yeah, here's some more info on it for those who don't know what an atlatl is:

A spear-thrower or atlatl is a tool that uses leverage to achieve greater velocity in dart-throwing, and includes a bearing surface which allows the user to temporarily store energy during the throw.

It may consist of a shaft with a cup or a spur at the end that supports and propels the butt of the dart. The spear-thrower is held in one hand, gripped near the end farthest from the cup. The dart is thrown by the action of the upper arm and wrist. The throwing arm together with the atlatl acts as a lever. The spear-thrower is a low-mass, fast-moving extension of the throwing arm, increasing the length of the lever. This extra length allows the thrower to impart force to the dart over a longer distance, thus imparting more energy and ultimately higher speeds.

we have 7 turns that's about 14 upgrades till sping, we need bettter magic and weapons so this is a good starting point

Why is everyone focussing so much on researching new types of weapon and armor? I've heard the humans use materials a lot tougher than anything we have. Let's just take it from them. Maybe leave some of them alive so they can teach us how they do it.

What we really have to focus on is bolstering our ranks and the expertise of our warriors. We will have a great many more strong, fearless fighters next summer, but they will need experienced bretheren to lead them.

>Why is everyone focussing so much on researching new types of weapon and armor? I've heard the humans use materials a lot tougher than anything we have. Let's just take it from them. Maybe leave some of them alive so they can teach us how they do it.

I dunno. I'm not sure we're strong enough (maybe with the new warriors) to kill the hummies. And teching helps that. Fuck it. CHANGE MY VOTE TO KILL HUMANS.

If it doesn't work out, at least we'll have a food surplus again.
>>
>>26011678
>>26011699
Our research rate is shit, but we still need to make the best of what we have. Every advance we make gives more of a fighting chance against the defenders of Underhill.

Also, if things go as planned, we're going to have to kill all their warriors and men (people who are most likely to know the secrets to their technological advances) and sacrifice their women and children to Otimgo, anyway.
>>

If you say so. We still have a lot of time left before the assault begins, and I don't think dipping into at least one tech advance would hurt us at all. I'm still going with:
B. Research atlatl

B. Have Gyandat practice Fire Elemental spell

Otimgo could teach us metalworking on a much higher level. We don't need plebs like humans to teach us (which assumes that our coercion works and we don't get flawed info). Tech is good, though we must indeed know our limits.

I think it's probably best to steal tech rather than make it. Even if we lose the battle, we'll get the new warriors anyway. And I suspect losing the Paladins hurt them *really* badly. Keep the pressure on: keep attacking, we do better than them at low numbers (because we replenish faster).

Eggs hatch over the course of a season, except they won't hatch during winter. Hatchlings grow to full maturity in 2 months, which is pretty quick and fits the "exceptional" description.

>mfw votes are confusing as hell
Going with train magic and train troops for this turn, it seemed to come up the most.

F (Train magic) (13)
Gyandat, the older of the tribe's new spellweavers, steels himself once more to reach mentally into the elemental planes and wrestle a fire elemental from its home. It resists furiously, but eventually is dragged into a circle of binding drawn up specifically for holding elementals. Trapped, the elemental watches helplessly as Gyandat casts a spell to enslave it before releasing it. Gyandat can now reliably summon a bound fire elemental.

F (train warriors) (14)
The fresh recruits continue their combat training with their veteran counterparts, drilling everything from underwater tactics to formation fighting to guerilla warfare. The lizardman warriors are now as battle-ready as they'll be without actual combat experience, and they've updated their loadouts to include more javelins, to boot.

It's early December. Winter affects the lizardmen adversely (-2 rolls across the board, some actions invalidated).

They *had* ~200 total. Then we killed some of their warriors. We only have 80, but more of ours fight than theirs (I assume).
>>
>>26012028
Exactly. Having a spear-throwing device that allows us to chuck javelins at them from a further distance will only help with the guerrilla approach. We're going to lose a lot of men, needlessly, if we just focus on spamming them with attacks until we win the village through attrition. I'm not saying we should use ALL our time on researching tech, but I am saying that at least one or two tech advances (with the rest focused on tactics and magic) would really help.
>>
>>26012003
They could barely understand our language when we tried to be friendly they would probably just kill him on sight also researching breathing tubes in winter would be hard not juts because of 1/2 speed but we cant really test them because the water would prolly kill us right now.

B. (research Atlatl) (20!-2)
Eureka! After many weeks pondering the motion physics of vectors, fulcrums, lever arms and ballglorbnorblers, the lizardman chief physicist has perfected his latest design: a device he calls the atlatl. Simple enough to fashion out of a shoot of bamboo, it stabilizes javelin flight and adds power to a lizard's throw. Ranged attacks are now much more effective.

E. Expand settlement into ground (9-2)
The lizardmen decide to expand their settlement into the ground, the better to make use of their limited territory. Unfortunately, though the saturated earth is easy to claw through, it's also very loose and water comes flooding into the holes they'd just dug. Craptastic, but fortunately the lizardmen are powerful swimmers and nobody drowned.

It's mid-December.

The Emissary
A human arrives at Oziliken at high noon, dressed in resplendent blue robes and bearing a staff with a ludicrously large gem on it. The sentries summon the Dragon Priest for orders, but the human pays no heed and announces in a clear voice, "Foul lizardmen! The men and women of Underhill will no longer tolerate your presence in our midst, and you will answer one way or another for the crimes you have perpetrated against them without reason. I come as an emissary to tell you this is your one and only chance to surrender those involved in the cowardly attack on the mining village!"

Pick one:
>A. Bring his heart to Otimgo!
>B. Attempt diplomacy.
>C. Surrender 14 warriors to the humans.
>D. Your suggestion.

E. Bestiary (11-2)
The lizardmen make an attempt to cover their losses by converting the ruined subterranean homes into a full-on bestiary to raise crocodiles in, but the earthwork is slow going in the water, and the process will take a turn longer than expected (2 turns).

C. Scout swamps (8-2)
A five man party of scouts ventures over the walls to reconnoiter the surrounding area, and find heavy bootprints here and there. Ten days of searching later, however, they find nothing, and return

It's late December.

You're right; it's a bad idea. We can't go asking Otimgo for favors when we have yet to fulfill our end of the bargain. It will make us look weak.

Also, war mounts are out of the question for now, at least until we find dire crocs. If we're going to continue researching tech, I think it would be better spent on coming up with:
-bow and arrow
-camouflage

Disgusting-Sneaky humans scouted camp while we prepared for winter! I fear an attack is inevitable-near!

B: Talk-deceive emissary. Stall until spring!

C: We have to stop-delay construction works and send out more scouts!

C: MORE scouts!
>>
>>26012836
permanent patrols, we can't afford to waste turns on scouting
>>
>>26012768
THIS IS GOOD TIME! YES-YES. Send forth fourteen hatchlings. They shall sacrifice themselves for the rest of the Dragon-kin! We can make up their numbers easily, and their martyrdom will be forever remembered, yes-yes. Another spawning and we will have the numbers to overwhelm the humans.
>>
>>26012768
A. Pocket the staff and bring his heart to Otimgo

Oziliken
C. Scout the area around the village for more humans. I doubt the emissary came alone.

E. Build another spawning pool
>>
>>26012768
We must make our offensive swift for the humans know of our camp. Kill the human who is most likely a mage with a quick hurl of the atllatl. With its increased velocity it is probably too fast for the human to react.

Next we should Scout the area towards the human village and create the raiding party. Let's strike fast in blitzkrieg like offensive
>>
>>26012768
A heart to otimgo
C Scout humans
F make patrols
>>
>>26012871
it's winter, we should wait til after winter to attack
>>

B, but we're really planning on killing them all, right guys?

A: we need food. Can these guys patrol too?
If not, C: send scouts out to patrol.
If can, E: more traps. The hummies will probably attack us in the winter if we let them.
>>

E. train crocs
E. find ambush party

our hands have been forced next turn or the one after we must attack. now build torches outside the moat and inside the village to keep the village warm and warm the water surrounding the village so that we can use underwater tactics.
>>
>>26012871
Spring is the earliest we can attack. We cold-blooded creatures don't do so well in the winter.

Alternatively, waiting until summer will give us a larger force to attack with, as the third brood will have matured by then.
>>
>>26012852

C. Scout surrounding area

F. Finish the new Bestiary

F. Have a 10 day long training regiment for all warriors to master the atlatls and have a contest in the name of Otimgo on the 10th day of training.
>>
>>26012768

B, o doubt Otimgo will just be annoyed with long one and if we kill him there will be paladins all over us

B. research camouflage

E, expand and create another Garden or more food
>>
>>26012908
We need to wait until spring to attack them. They may know of our village, but we have ranged power and strong defenses and traps around our village. I think we can repel a human raid, if it happens.

"EMRARYE HUMANS!"
See why atlatls came in handy, guys?

also i second the idea of patrols

and the research of camouflage
>>
>>26012966
yeah, he did. That should be good. We should get a store of big(-ish) rocks that we could throw at them to sink any ships they might be bringing. Or just a big rope boom within athhansd-whachit range.

Trap ideas:
-underwater trip lines
-underwater spiked pits
>>
>>26012984
seconding

however, we are going to need another spawning pool soon, and food to feed them
>>
>>26013034
I assume our foodsource simply aren't selreplinishing at the moment because it's winter. The youg hatch in spring, when our foodsources will also increase in productivity. I guess we don't have to expand them until late summer. IF we make it through the winter.
>>
>>26012768
The Emissary (16-2)
"I want his heart on a spit! EMRARYE THE INTRUDER!" roars Tarakanov, brandishing his own vorpal blade. The sentries let fly a volley of javelins, but the wizard slams the butt of his staff into the ground and a wave of energy knocks the projectiles harmlesssly away. "Fools!" he shouts at the Dragon Priest. "This was your warning! Now comes judgment! SHEE-AH-KAHZING!" The wizard claps his hands and disappears in a blinding explosion, leaving behind only smoke.

F. Permanent scout patrols (5-3)
Two parties of five-scale each are directed to patrol the forest surrounding Oziliken until further notice. Unfortunately, one is lost and never seen again, without a trace. (5 lost, 5 detached from settlement, but every turn gets a roll to see if they find something)

F. Traps (18-2)
The lizardmen successfully set up some well-hidden man-catchers and bamboo spike traps in the forest around Oziliken, mapping them carefully so as not to be killed by them. No mishaps.

It's early January. The bestiary is finished, and training of crocodiles for various purposes can begin.

Oziliken
Pick any 2 actions:
A. Scavenge/hunt for food.
B. Research technology (1/2 speed)
C. Assemble a raiding party to attack the humans.
D. Expand the settlement.
E. Train (magic, tactics, beasts)

Population: 74 in settlement, 5 patrolling (32 eggs)
Food: 1 turns' worth. (not quite self-sustaining)
Infrastructure: Spawning pool, expanded floating gardens, fisheries, bestiary, 4 huts + longhouse (houses 120).
Weapons & Armor: Bamboo spears, javelins, hide shields, iron axes, macahuitl, vorpal swords, hide armor, atlatl.
Tech: Wood Working, Advanced Tactics, Agriculture, Fisheries, Body Armor.
Magic: Lemprai (Fireball), Gyandat (Conjure Fire Elemental)

GT i know you said our troops where as ready as they could be without combat experience after we'd trained them but that was before we made atlatls are we still at that level of readiness?
>>
>>26013139
We don't want to attack them (at least not in the winter). If we bring the fight to them, they'll have their walls and everything. It'll suck. Instead, we want them out in the swamp where they have to deal with the water, the traps, everything that we love.
>>
>>26013149
They're still good to go.

As an update, I'll be off in about 1.5 hours here, so I'll archive this thread then or something. I live on a warship, so getting internet access is tough, so this game might not even pick up til next weekend ><

but if that's a free action then B. gilysuits

E. Beasts (2-2) :c
The minute a lizardman tries to plant his bottom on one of the larger crocodiles, it rolls viciously and takes a bite out of the stunned lizard's throat. The other potential beastmasters are too frightened to attempt to mount a croc until some method of securing a lizard to his mount is devised.

(as a note, our magic users are as competent as they'll be without formal education)
A. Food (11-2)
Fishing wild game in the waters around Oziliken has become scarce with the development of the pond and its lands, but a party of ten hunters goes into the forest and returns with enough food for 2 turns.

Late January. One of our scout parties hasn't reported back in ten days, and is replaced by another five man team. (6-2) (16-2) One of them finds an abandoned camp, but trashing it reveals no intel on the whereabouts of the humans or their plans.

I see now that it is always a mistake to leave humans alone. The tribe should have been killing them all this time. That was the command of our god Otimgo. That we did not follow his scaly wisdom is our downfall. All worthwhile things flow from Otimgo. Not with our claws but with his might are we advanced.

D. Build platforms in the trees so that javelin throwers with atlatls could hurl projectiles at attackers from above. Sentries could also use these platforms to see enemies from afar.

A. Hunt for and stockpile more food. We may be in for a siege.

>>26013339
B. Resarch camouflage for our Scouts

D. Build new spawning pools

That Orc was a Human wizard in disguise, to find out where we live, and how many lizards we have!

>>
>>26013339
Food and towers seems to be the turn but people we NEED more lizards to over run the foolish humans and for that we need more spawning pools
>>
>>26013245
I'm scared that you may be right. The liege lord of the territory around Underhill is understandably pissed, and I'm sure he's reinforced the garrison to defend against raids from the swamp tribes. We need to train the next brood as quickly as possible after it matures so we can strike.
>>
>>26013606
the lizards will arrive half a year later. And it just hapens that again and again more pressing hsort-term goals pop up.
>>
>>26013606
Humans are a problem now. Eggs do not kill. Eggs now not kill humans now. Leave village And sacrifice all eggs to Otimgo to transform us into halfdragons for a day. Kill humans.
>>
>>26013606
We can build another spawning pool next turn. The fourth brood likely wouldn't be mature until the fall or even next winter, though, and we can't delay too much. Once the third brood is mature, we need to train and make our attack as soon as summer comes. As I stated before, I have a hunch that the lord of Underhill requested reinforcements and will be anticipating reprisal, so we need as many men as we can get.
>>
>>26013643
He won't even acknowledge our faith in him until we destroy the humans with our own powers to prove our faith in Otimgo

>>
>>26013630
its a mining town, depending on what theyre mining the kingdom will send reinforcements, if its coal its not important but if its gold/silver ect then we can expect a force to protect it.

i vote we scout their mines to see what it is

D. Canopy defenses (15-2)
Preparing for the eventuality of attack on their no-longer-hidden village, the dragon cult works tirelessly to get raised platforms built in the treeline, the better from which to rain projectiles upon invaders. What the lizardmen lack in hauling innovation they make up for in drive and climbing ability.

A. Food (1-2) (I don't even know how to represent a negative... wait yes I do.)
Another hunting party is sent out to gather meat for the growing hatchlings. Game is sparse, and the reason becomes apparent when a crossbow quarrel buries itself in the neck of head scout Usuno. Choking on his own blood, he rasps, "Back, b-brothers, they must not catch us... un... un... unawar-"

Before the warrior can finish his sentence, seven more bolts fly out of hiding and three more lizardmen are injured! Heeding their leader's order, the remaining lizards flee into the brush, scattering every which way to get back to Oziliken. Of the six, four make it back.

It is early February. (13-2) (15-2) The patrols discover nothing of note.

D. Build a new spawning pool
The benefits of doing this aren't immediately apparent, but we'll have many more men for farming, war, and building in the long term
