Welcome to the twentieth episode of A Game of Thrones – The Quest of House Harrock.
Previously: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/25894366
All Previous Threads: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Harrock

In this quest, the year is 284AL and it is eight months after Robert Baratheon was crowned king. You are Lord Artys “Hangman” Harrock, thirty-eight years old and the head of House Harrock, sworn to House Arryn of the Mountain and Vale. You are a solemn and quiet man devoted to your family and there is nothing that matters more to you than your blood. You seek to elevate your house from its decrepit state, to provide a future for your children however you can. With a head for numbers, a good sword-hand and an exotic Valyrian yataghan named 'Ambition,' you shall bring prosperity and hope to High Harrock.

During the last episode, you made a few hard decisions. In order to counteract the disastrous actions of Lord Walder Frey, you're working on securing trade deals with House Keath and Wayn from the Riverlands. Then there's the matter of your good lady wife, who may be pregnant. Alternatively, she may never be pregnant again. Whatever the case, you've promised to comfort Deyya and to raise any future children better than you did your first two. Your Maester Llelewyn is making slow progress with the idea of a combat beacon that you provided him with, offering possibilities of flares or smoke signals. Finally, you've made the decision to allow Ser Banton to lead your marksmen and Ser Brock to lead the Woodsmen – but only after he spends a month training with them himself. But enough of that, it's time for the politics of marriage.

Is anyone interested in continuing?

In addition, Page has started up his own Game of Thrones quest again. I suggest you read the adventures of Lord William Bordain for yourself. It predates the Quest of House Harrock and to be frank, if you like this quest, then you'll love Page's take on GoT. It takes place every Saturday, starting at roughly 9PM EST.

After ensuring that the two boorish servants of Bronze Yohn have settled in and are already hard at work, you've turned your attention to the preparation of the castle for the arrival of suitors. The first of the potential brides and grooms is Lady Lorenna of House Egen, accompanied by Ser Crowlys, Sworn to House Egen and a small troupe of hardy militiamen, along with a maid to tend to the good lady's needs. She will be here from the second day of the month to the sixth and you will need to provide suitable entertainment to keep them busy and also offer opportunities for the potential wife and husband to learn more about one another and the new life they will share together.

>I'm going to make this as fast and clean as possible, after the slog that was the Grimarbour Tournament. For the entire duration of her stay, you may have one conversation with Lorenna or any of the guests have accompanied her.
>I'm going to go through this a day at a time. You can suggest activities, topics and other things you want to do with each day before I inform you of the results and we move on to the next. At the end of each suitor's stay, I'll ask for a roll from you.

For the first day of Lorenna Egen's stay, what do you wish to arrange?
>>
>>26031841

>streamlining the potential hell fest we set up

Thank you god. I was worried.

Also no hunts with Lorenna allowed, Ser Crowlys yes.
>>
>>26031841
A horse ride with her and Brock. She is fond of animals (and a warg), so it would show how much Brock wants to be with her.
>>
>>26031868
I second this. The main reason for the two to get married is because the boy could be happy, let's see if she feels the same way. Fuck Crowlys.
>>
>>26031841
Well, here are a few ideas. She is an animal-obsessed introvert, right? So, more time out in the wilderness the better.
>A tour of the land
>Showing off the newly acquired doggy dogs.
>Riding around
>Maybe a romantic boat ride. Surely we don't need a dock for a small rowing boat?

Dunno what else.
>>
What, no introductions to our lands and our people this time? I feel like a cruel and tyrant ruler.
>>
>>26031841

Well since the Woodsmen probably didn't leave a very good impression on Ser Crowlys, let's bring him with us to a drilling session that we take over and finish. About mid day of it, of which Brock will not be skipping.
>>
>>26031946

We rule our goat hoards and rocks with an iron fist.
>>
>>26031906
We need someone to suss out what Crowlys plan is though. Maybe get our sworn swords to get him drunk, or bribe a harlot if he visits one?

Secondly, what are Yohn's troops doing at the moment? Maybe they should spar against the Woodsmen, that'd take their arrogance down a peg or two.
>>
>>26032003

Oh I think we should save that one until Bronze Yohn's family comes to visit. Have a little mini melee between the Woodsmen and his unit. Just cause.
>>
>>26032018
Ah yeah, that'd work nicely...unless our men completely fuck it up. I mean, there are merits to doing it then and there are some to starting it now. I really don't mind either way.

As she has arrived during the afternoon, you don't have too much time to spare before the evening meal. You decide to give Brock the chance to show her around himself, offering him the two of them some of the finer horses your house has to offer. Unfortunately, Ser Crowlys takes it upon himself to shadow the pair with the excuse that he was ordered by Lord Loras Egen to ensure that no harm comes to his daughter. Either Loras is extremely paranoid or his sworn sword is. In either case, they're out for an hour or two wandering the valley that you call your home on horseback, exploring the various creeks and small settlements and towers. When Lorenna comes back she doesn't seem to be smiling and she hardly utters a word during the evening feast, letting Ser Crowlys do most of the talking when it comes to the events of House Egen. Most of the time, the girl just picks at her food in her own distracted way. Then again, you've never seen her smile, heard her laugh or even listened to her speak before today. Perhaps her reaction isn't that bad? It's difficult to tell what your son sees in her.

>MONTH 2, DAY 3

After the rather neutral response you received from Lorenna and the over-protective behaviour of Crowlys, what do you wish to have your guests do today?
>>
>>26032122
>Crowlys

I thought we ditched this prick.

Do something to get him away from the two lovebirds.
>>
>>26032122

Resuggesting, >>26031953. Get Crowlys a little chance to see a group that gave him issues getting whipped and the suitor as well.

Also perhaps have Lorenna spend some time with the women of our court, such as our wife and daughter, they are much better at social things then ourselves and our son.
>>
>>26032122
We need to think about what makes Crowlys tick, what is he more likely to do rather than protect Lorenna. Is he fond of drink, brawls, archery, what?
>>
>>26032122
Lorenna and Brock spend time alone in the castle.

Get Crowlys to have a friendly chat and drink with us and our sworn swords. Half bs conversation about nothing, a quarter about how he feels the situation in the Vale is and the last quarter about possible joint-house plans if/when the mountain men return (feeling out his military preparedness and his feelings for our alliance)
>>
>>26032234
Eh. Maybe.

I'm all for anything that gets Crowlys the fuck away from Brock.

You think Lorenna would take kindly to other female company? I don't know, it just seems that putting her near our perfect daughter would cause sparks.

Only one way to find out though.
>>
>>26032234
I'd believe getting her into a social occasion isn't a good idea, we should actually try to talk to her to know how she's doing, what she does think of Brock and the wedding
>>
>>26032122
See
>>26032203
Offer to go out on a hunt with him and Ser Tenry, or ask him to drill the garrison. Then we let the Brock and Lorenna have some alone-time.
>>
>>26032273
>>26032234
I, a third anon, think these guys are onto something. We need to show Crowlys that we're not endeavouring to slight his honor on purpose. Even if we don't like him, we must treat him with the respect a knight deserves.

The most commonly suggested idea here seems to be:
>Have Ser Crowlys watch a training exercise with the Woodsmen. Perhaps involve the escort that arrived with Bronze Yohn's men as well.
>Either have Brock and Lorenna have some time alone or give Lorenna the opportunity to meet and speak with some of the other women of the castle.
>>
>>26032378

Training exercise is fine. Bronze's men, let's hold off on.
I know others are against it but I say we let the girl interact with the ladies of our court. Maybe she'll open up to them a bit.
>>
>>26032419
Second.

Also, Tenry spent a month with Crowlys in Egen's lands, lets ask him in the morning if he discovered any of the man's vices.
>>
>>26032419
Taking the opportunity to separate Ser Crowlys from Lorenna, you arrange to have the Woodsmen drilled by Captain Bonaris, as well as the infantry sent by Bronze Yohn. You end the display with a mock-melee where the soldiers spar against one another, a show that seems to actually impress Ser Crowlys for once although he notes several flaws in the discipline of the Woodsmen. He does seem to enjoy his criticism and elitism when it comes to warfare. When you attempt to discuss his interests however, he seems unresponsive and uncooperative. Ser Crowlys claims that he's a man of duty and loyalty and all of his available time goes into supporting House Egen and managing its military. In short, a dull bore of a man.

Lady Lorenna is just an uncooperative in the castle, as your wife tells you by the end of the day. She barely mumbled a word outside of what was required of her and she showed no interest in more feminine hobbies. Aside from occasionally muttering a few awkward remarks and making a tangled mess in an attempt at embroidery, she had nothing to offer. By the end of the afternoon the half-Braavosi girl was clearly bored to death and was looking for any excuse to get away from the girls she had already spent hours with. Quickly finishing her meal and not speaking a single word, she spends the rest of the evening outside. Thankfully, Ser Crowlys is too busy ranting about military matters with you to care and Brock has the opportunity to leave and speak to the girl in a more open environment.

>MONTH 2, DAY 4.

So, perhaps offering the girl womanly company is a bad idea. She seems even less fond of humanity than your Maester is. What else do you want to plan to her after having almost bored her to death yesterday?
>>
>>26032636
"He's an arrogant cunt, that's all I can tell you. Got a damn ego on him, too high and mighty to even share a drink with soldiers."
>>
>>26032662

Day with the dogs then. Bring Crowlys with us on a hunt with the best dogs, and send a consort with Brock and Lorenna with some of the lesser dogs to just go tracking and have a spot of fun. Maybe the dogs will find something of interest
>>
>>26032662
Maybe we should ask Lorenna what shed like to do? Probably the first time in her life she's been given a choice...

As for Crowlys, so he's an egotistical armchair general with big ambitions. Do we have a chessboard or some type of sand board with military figures that he could game against one of our sworn swords. It'd keep him occupied at least, maybe he tongue would loosen with a little drink as well.
>>
>>26032740
Somehow I don't think old Mr Crowley will consent to something as frivolous as a hunt. Lets invite him to our leisure hall and indulge him in dornish wine and boring talk about our house's military history, and that of the Vale.
>>
>>26032757
I second try talking to the girl
>>
>>26032805

Valid point. I still say send the girl and Brock out at least with some of the dogs and a consort, as well Ser Tenry since he likely knows the best places to spot wild life.

Crowlys should be kept busy with, >>26032757
. I dig the chess board thing, plus we can use that as our chance to talk to him.
>>
>>26032805
>>26032757
>>26032740
It's correct. Loras Egen has his own personal huntsman, one of his more favoured retainers according to Ser Crowlys. Hunting is hardly his favoured pursuit. What is the use in killing a beast for sport? It is simply an animal, it can hardly fight back the way that a person can. Oddly enough, out of all of the things he is interested in, he prefers games of the mind. Discussion of tactics and when that isn't stimulating enough, a game of cyvasse. It's some sort of game played on a board, imported from Essos. You probably haven't heard of it.
>>
>>26032893

>You probably haven't heard of it.
2hip4me

Alright we likely have a warboard of our region and the surrounding, let's talk tactic with the man. Make up scenarios, be subtle about it and see how he reacts to different things.
>>
>>26032893
We could offer to humour him with a game, it will give us a chance to prove our quick wit and intellect to him, as well as stroke his dick a little because we're probably going to lose and he's probably going to enjoy that.
>>
>>26032932
>Hipster Knight.

Ask him if he brought a board. If not, this anon's suggestion works perfectly. Try a dozen or so scenarios, one of which is a hypothetical neighbouring House, with significantly different features and circumstances to Egen, falling to internal strife.
>>
>>26032932
>>26032891
>>26032863
>>26032805
Although Ser Crowlys doesn't have a board with him, you manage to convince him to use a few proxy tokens and pieces for the game. It's a rather confusing one and a rather frivilous use of time. Still, you can see how certain men would need games like this in order to stimulate their minds. When there are no true armies to fight, fight with fictional ones.

As you expected, you lose. It's not a devastating defeat and you manage to catch on to some of the more advanced rules and even come up with a trick or two that surprises Ser Crowlys. Unfortunately, he is more familiar with the game and simply more experienced with it. The game drags on but eventually you are defeated. By that point in time, hours have already passed and with no sign of either of the lovebirds return, Ser Crowlys proposes leaving to find them only for you to offer another game. This time you are defeated far more swiftly and soundly but it's enough time for the two children to return from their play-hunt.

For once, Lady Lorenna actually seems to be smiling while Brock seems to be torn between sharing her delight and showing obvious concern. Once the meal is over, he speaks of how familiar she was with the beasts. At one point she even wrestled the scent marker from a hound's mouth when it refused to drop it of its own volition. Still, he's more put off by something else she said, how she prefers the company of dogs to men and men to women because they're more 'honest.' In the end, your boy is just glad that she's happy even if he's no closer to understanding her.

>MONTH 2, DAY 5

The second to last day. She's enjoyed a ride about the land and a day in with the ladies, along with a faux-hunt with the hounds. Do you wish to repeat a previous activity or come up with something new?
>>
>>26033235
She screws dogs, doesn't she?
>>
>>26033235
We should actually speak with her alone. How did she know that Belmore was gonna try kill us at the tournament? Why's she such a freak? Might as well get to know this girl ourselves, we haven't spoken with her once yet.
>>
>>26033235

Perhaps take a walk with her to Lower Harrock where the kennels are. I assume by now they've had a batch of puppies or something, we can get her in a comfort zone and then speak to her a little bit more personally.

I'd say Crowlys should be occupied with talking tactics with the Captain of the Woodsmen and our new knight who is training them, suggest with his vast knowledge he might teach them something of use.
>>
>>26033275
Second this.

Have Brock/the woodsmen occupy Crowlys.

Also, did we talk to him or learn anything dring yesterday's games?
>>
Have Crowlys teach Brock Chess, or Cyvasse I believe its called. It'll be something to hone his mind

I like the idea of talking with Lorenna. However, in the essence of streamlning, I'm guessing only one actual question? How about we ask her if she thinks our son would make an honest and good man for her
>>
>>26033235
we should show her out goats
>>
>>26033235
I'm sorry that I have to ask this but what are the benefits of marrying Brock to her over some of his other suitors. THe only ones that immediately come to mind are that Egen is right next door, that Brock is fond of her, and that I feel like I remember us being supplied with some of Egen's grain until we recover from the Freys cutting off their ties with us. I'm just asking since I remember Brock's feelings towards her playing a major role in our consideration of her and she hasn't been displaying a similar interest in either him nor us.
>>
>>26033275
>>26033330
>>26033336
Again, you leave Ser Crowlys to watch the Woodsmen. He is more reluctant this time as he has already seen them but it's enough to keep him occupied just a short while. Besides, apparently Captain Bonaris also knows how to play cyvasse so perhaps he might be able to provide a greater distraction? Who knows.

In any case, you get the opportunity to go to the kennels, which have be drastically improved. No longer are they housed in the stables of a tavern but instead in their own separate building. It's not luxurious but it's certainly suitable for housing dogs and the smallfolk that tend to them. As soon as you arrive, Lorenna quickly busies herself with petting and grooming one of the older ones, an arthritic old hound that likely only has a few more months left in him. Those green eyes of hers don't look at you at all nor does she speak, effectively ignoring your presence for the moment. Quite frankly, it's rude. You know that you are hardly possess the finest social graces but at least you know when to strike up conversation.

What do you wish to say to Lorenna? She can't avoid conversation forever.
>>
>>26033557
If the coup is real and the rest if the family gets killed, we can use their relationship to 'restore' Lorenna's lands to her, and essentially join them with our own.
>>
>>26033558
She wants to void social niceties, so will we. Be completely blunt with her, why does she hate her role in society so much? What does she think of Brock? What does she really want in life?

Make sure nobody is listening in of course.
>>
>>26033557
Kind of a split between a power grab if SHTF and Brock kind of digging her. The immediate land to our north falling under our banners is a lot easier to take then one that is far off.

>>26033558

I forgot Captain Bonaris was from Essos, good little detail there.

I suppose we should just be straight with her. Ask simple question, and this is the most important part, while petting the same dog she is (if she is a warg and warging it might give her some comfort showing we genuinely care). Ask her about the Tourney and her opinion on Brock.
>>
>>26033634

Yep these three work, add in the question from >>26033423 for good measure
>>

>>26033681
>Why does she hate her role in society so much?
"Um, I don't hate the role. I just don't like the people. Always acting, always lying, always trying to get what they want without saying they want it. They're all so smart, um. Always thinking about what to say and what to think so they can get what they want, always thinking about themselves."
>What does she think of Brock?
"He's an idiot. I say as much to his face, um. He's not smart enough to want to keep his mouth shut about things. It's better than being smart. Um, so long as there's someone who can direct him. Someone who can make him do good. Don't think that's me."
Is that a sad tone in her mumbling or is it just your imagination?
>What does she really want in life?
"Don't know. Why should I? I want to live. I'll figure out the rest while I live.

"You heard about me from Loras, um? You heard how strange I am, how I'm touched, how I'm a freak. Why do you want me to marry him? Why not some cleaner girl, um, smarter girl? Someone who can get you more money than he ever could. You could do it, after he brawled with that bronze thug, um."
>>
>>26033858
"Been to Belmore jousts before the king's war. Loras liked visiting them, um. I've seen how that man fights and jousts and does things. He's a killer, especially when he doesn't like people. He had no reason to like you. That's all."
>>
>>26033913
"Because he likes you, and I think he'd be more happy with you than some of the other prospects."
>>
>>26033913
>Someone who can get you more money than he ever could.
"Money can be pretty useless when you're miserable."
>>
>>26033965
Ehh...I'm starting to think of Lorenna as less and less a viable candidate. Honestly, Brock could come to like any girl, she's not that special. But she is right about one thing, he's a brute who needs the delicate social graces of a smart woman (kinda like us).

If, and it's a big if, the coup theory turns out to be true, that'd be the only reason to marry them.
>>
>>26033913

To be fair Brock is still a blockhead. But he has set his eyes upon something and set to task, which is a true rarity for him unless we force his hand. He still has much learning but if it makes him happy, then so should we. Finish up the conversation with seeing if there are any puppies and offering her one if there is, she likes the animals and having such a gift near her may help.

Don't comment on much else. Keeping our limited social grace to ourselves as to not overwelm her or make her feel dumb. No wonder she doesn't like the company of women, she feels inferior to them and her father treating her like some freak of nature does not help. She needs a guiding and kind hand just as much as Brock did. I actually kind of feel sorry for her now.
>>
>>26033913
Before my brother betrayed Arryn, my duties and focus were solely on the house, nothing more, I was dry and dead inside, my son an oaf and thug, my daughter and wife a stranger.

Since, I have looked and found family, and my house falls to an admittedly close second, Brock likes you, and I want his happiness as much or more than I want wealth or power.
>>
>>26034045
Second these sentiments. Lets not draw this out, the crux of the conversation is over.
>>
>>26034080

second this
>>
>>26033965
>>26034080
>>26033995
"I think I could be good at making him miserable, um. Already good at it but he's too thick to care, too thick to stop and find someone more pleasant. Also make him happy some times even when I don't mean to. Don't get that."
She frowned down at the dog for the briefest moment as her mumbling came to a brief stop, instead settling to continue to pet the old shaggy dog.
"He's stupid. He's simple. He's blunt. He's better than most men I've met. More fun to be around. I... um, want to keep on seeing him. Talking with him. Doubt I'll be able to do that if he ends up with another woman as a wife. Right?"
>>26034045
You're given a brief sneer at the offer of a puppy. What sort of girl do you think she is, the sort to fawn over sweet adorable things?
"I'll take this one. He's ancient. He won't last long. I want to make sure he enjoys his last days, um?"

>What is your final response to her before you're done with her? And is there anything else you wish for her to do with the day?
>>
>>26034223

Should have seen that coming with the dog, fair play made me laugh.

However I suppose that is it. Confirm with her that is the case and have a brief chuckle at her cracking and admitting she does talk to him at least. Let's head back, can hand her over to Brock perhaps? Let him decide what to do for once with her.

Also check in on Ser Crowlys and the Captain, perhaps our Essos man was able to get more out of him then ourselves or Tenry.

He's smitten by you, and you seem a far better person, and woman, than your father or yourself give credit for - you are honest, trustworthy, caring and proud. These are all qualities my son could do good to learn should he marry you.

I shan't expect you'll see each other much if you don't marry - highborn girls tend to get jealous and flighty quickly, especially when they're younger. Present company excluded, of course.

And one last thing, I'll talk to my kennelmaster, Royter about letting you take the old dog; he is yours. Every creature should be ensured the enjoyment of his last days.
>>
>>26034223

Lorenna seems worthless to me unless we're actually gonna make a play on Egen's land.

Btw: Crowly seems less and less like he's attempting a coup and more like he's just getting Egen's crippled military back up to par.
>>
>>26034419
He's crippling the land economically to do so though...I mean, it sees like he is recruiting far more troops than is needed in peacetime with no clear and obvious threat to the House.

I digress, let's wait fit our spy's report.
>>
>>26034419
Not to say I told you so, but I did mention that we were jumping to the coup conclusion pretty quickly. We should do more to win Ser Crowly over to us, since it's obvious he's entirely in charge of Egen's military, and likely more.

With all that said, is Lorenna really the best candidate for Brock? I don't know.
>>
>>26034463

Did hire the man for a reason. Hopefully we get a report here soon, something for us to chew on and help influence our decisions.

I wonder about the match. Especially if Brock doesn't have a brother or something to help guide the lands and provide social grace. We'll need to consider a few things before we go through with this.
>>
>>26034519

Agreed on that. But he could also be holding back a lot more then we expect. I think we should take up that game he showed us, having our Captain help us learn, and keep in contact with the man. He's a keen military mind and I'd like him to think of us in a good light.

She may or may not be the best match. Truly I have no idea at present moment a lot of factors need to be considered, including our boys happiness.
>>
>>26034419
>>26034408
>>26034343
Leaving Lorenna in the hands of Brock for the evening, he decides to leave with the girl on foot, with the limping old hound following the pair. They aren't venturing far from the castle, only enjoying the lowering summer sun by the fast-flowing river that divides your home in two.

As for Ser Crowlys, apparently Captain Bonaris was better at extracting information from him than you were. At the very least, he managed to bring up the topic of Lord Egen. Apparently he was the one who taught the sworn sword cyvasse in the first place. The mercenary offered the possibility of playing a game with the lord himself, only for Crowlys to immediately end the game and leave, announcing that Lord Loras Egen wishes for privacy and is not tending to any visitors.

"If you do not mind my words, my good lord, this knight would make an exceptionally poor mummer. He is hiding something and what it is, I do not know."

>Anything else before the final day with Lorenna Egen?
>>
>>26034463
>>26034519
>>26034520

All I'm sayin is that if we're marryin this broad, then we're dustin her old man and little brother to double our land. She serves no other purpose other than her eccentricity has caught Brock's dull eye. Damnit men, we're running a House here, not playing matchmaker.

Also there's the fact that if she is in fact a greenseer, I don't think our best efforts will conceal the truth of our murdering her brother from her...

That being said, Egen's lands are still softer than Belmore's, and we can only really expand in two directions.
>>
>>26034586
Well now that IS suspicious.

We personally should spend the rest of the day drilling the Woodsmen with Ser Crowlys. He had feedback on their disclipline, let's work with them on that. We ask him whether he's preparing any campaign against mountain men, or whether Egen's lands are fairly quiet at the moment.

As for Brock and Lorenna... meh.

>>26034566
I just hope we remember that our daughter's happiness is also a factor, and should be the strongest factor as unlike Brock she won't be remaining here.
>>
>>26034586

Captain Bonaris pulling out the clutch info grab, get that man a whore. This visit went exceptionally well now.

Last day is for a minor feast and I'd suppose giving Lorenna the option of doing whatever she'd like, such as a previous activity or something new.

fuuuuck.... spoke too soon. Crowlys is either makin his play or Egen is plannin on killin us on Belmore's orders!!! Fuckin Panic time!!!
>>
>>26034586
If that isn't suspicious as fuck, I don't know what is. I think we should 'insist' on them having an honour guard to escort them back, as we wouldn't want anything to befall Lorenna. This honour guard should also bring Loras a present, as a excuse to see him of course.
>>
>>26034604
I'm really against murdering Egen and his son, just because there's no way we can be sure that won't come back to bite us. And if anyone does find out that's the kind of shit that will end up with us being Proto-Jorah Mormont at best.
>>
>>26034683
Second the feast idea. Maybe leave Crowlys with our uncle for a bit?
>>
>>26034728

yeah. I agree. Let's not ruin everything with a poor attempt at intrigue. If we're lucky Egen and his boy will just die. :)
>>
>>26034604

At present moment we're sort of hoping for Crowlys to do that deed for us. A lot rests on what happens within Egens lands.

If the coup happens, we power grab with marrying Brock and crushing rebellion.

If he invades us, we marry our daughter to Royce and have him come down to fucking wreck Egen's shit.
>>
>>26034783

This is the plan. I like it.
>>
>>26034586
"Fuck off and take your two-copper coat with you."

But seriously, let's get chummy with the accused. Get on his side, call Crowlys a few names, maybe get a few drinks in him.

Nice and subtle like.
>>
>>26034693
>>26034699

It's suspicious, but there is another explanation for that. Egen could be dreadfully ill, with Ser Crowlys covering for him to prevent rival lords taking advantage of him and his inexperienced children (which we totally would).

Furthermore, I'd say now is a good time to test out our potential sponsored knights we mentioned last thread.

>The way I see it, this is a solid plan in getting some loyal sworn swords. People we can rely on and who will have some martial skill. There's a lot of jobs that they would be perfect for, including escorting us and our family.

>1) Send them to guard the mason. Action is unlikely, unless this coup gets out of control quickly.
>2) Once finished and the mason is back with us, we put them forward before the Council of Knights, deciding who is or is no suitable for sponsorship.
>3) Those worthy of sponsorship are kitted out and swear an oath to our house.
>>
>>26034783
Yep, that was the general plan.

>>26034699
I second this idea - we need to send men we trust with them, perhaps Ser Boros and a unit of the Rangers?
>>
>>26034832
Let's hear what he has to say before we make any decisions, yeah?
>>
>>26034783
We can't exactly plan and arrange a wedding with Royce in the middle of an invasion. Nor can we arrange a betrothal, as that would stink of desperation (even though I'm in favour of a Royce marriage anyway).

We need to wait for our spymaster to bring us details.
>>
>>26034832

There we go I like that. Though we should send an already loyal night with them as well. Boros hasn't gotten out much recently, let's send him.
>>
>>26034863
We can only hope he arrives back before Crowlys and Lorenna leave.
>>
>>26034832

This. Send our proto-sworn swords to our mason and to send Loras a gift giving us a chance to make sure he's alive and that Crowlys hasnt already exxed him out or imprisoned him.
>>
>>26034884
Not really. He's unlikely to bring actual solid evidence of an imminent coup that would justify to other lords us placing Lorenna and Ser Crowlys under house-arrest.

>MONTH 2, DAY 6

Hosting a grand feast in the morning for the girl and her protector, you ensure that they're both well fed before giving her the opportunity to do whatever she wishes in your territory, with the company of Brock. The actions of the first day are repeated on the last day as they go on a ride through your territories with the promise of meeting Ser Crowlys by the border. You offer the man an honour guard to accompany him and ensure the girl's safety but he refuses, adamantly.

"Lord Loras Egen is not taking any visitors. None. Only retainers of Lord Yohn Royce and those loyal to House Egen are allowed in Crown Crag at this moment, my lord. I fear that I am not permitted to inform you why, either. This is a private matter only concerning House Egen."

After the afternoon has passed towards evening, Ser Brock finally returned from the Eastern border. After a little exploration with Lorenna, he returned her to Ser Crowlys for safe-keeping and returned to High Harrock. The boy almost seems sad to see her go.
>>26034892

Absolutely nothing. When it comes to trading, House Harrock has always obeyed the law and been absolutely thorough in everything it has done. Between you and your uncle, you have always kept a keen eye on the finances and ensured that everything was working as intended. They are uncovering nothing new, their purpose is simply to ensure no corruption. They are just there to ensure that the incident with Maahira of Qohor does not repeat itself.

In any case, there are other things beside suitors that need to be handled. For example, you have a raven from House Wayn and another from House Keath.

To both of them, you sent ravens concerning offerings of iron in exchange for crops but first, you wanted to hear what quantity they had available to sell. You've received your response.

>House Keath currently has 9 free Crops to trade and is willing to trade at a ratio of 2:1 for your Iron.
>House Wayn currently has 5 free Crops to trade and is willing to trade at a ratio of 3:1 for your Iron.
>You currently have 5 free Iron available for trade.
>You need 13 Crops in order to remove the penalty caused by no trade with the Freys.
>You can also buy Crops by reducing your House Fortune modifier by the number of Crops you purchase using this method.
>You can renegotiate these deals, if you want to but it'll require a roll.
>>
>>26035362

4 to Keath
1 to Wayn

Puts us at 11 - take the fortune penalty?
>>
>>26035362
For a second there I thought that was 2 Iron for 1 Crop. Damn near shat myself.

So House Wayn is offering us the juicier deal here. I'd say accept Wayns deal (grabbing us 5 crops for 2 iron, plus a small wealth supplement?).

Then we should try to renegotiate with House Keath for a 3:1 ratio for our remaining 3 Iron. What can we offer them to sweeten the deal?

Don't you dare mention our daughter
>>
>>26035429
We could do that but I'd rather try and renegotiate this. If we manage to convince them to offer more for less, maybe we don't need to take any penalty at all.

I assume these offers are 2/3 crops for 1 iron or you're fuckin with me, Plasma.

If that be the case, then this anon has a good plan, but id change it to

3 to Keath and
2 to Wayn at a reduced cost of 5:2 ratio

gives us a more diverse supply and Wayn will appreciate this.

House Frey owns about as much land as House Tully, perhaps even more. And this is some of the most fertile land in the damn Seven Kingdoms.

>>

Yep, it's a typo by Plasma. We're offering 5:2 to Wayn, and renegotiating with Keath for 3:1 exchange.
>>
>>26035713
>For Keath, yes.
>>26035702
Sending a raven to each house with your offers, the one for Keath has a bit more tact. It contains details of the offer you were given by House Rayn and the sort of competition that they have to deal with when it comes to trade. Hopefully it's eloquently worded enough that it shouldn't give you much trouble at all.

Once the ravens are sent, you have the evening hours of the sixth day and all of the seventh day to yourself. On the morning of the eighth, Robar Royce shall arrive to meet your sweet daughter.
