Hello all, I return. If anyone here is interested in questing, then I will do that, if you request a story, then I will try to write that.

Let's get this rolling again.
>>
Here we go again.

Let's wait a bit and see who else turns up before we start with anything.

I've stolen OP's art but thats about it. I found Eclipse phase incredibly specialized in its setting material, and the rules felt a bit clunky to get into. That and nobody is ever going to convince me to game in anything that isnt 3d6 roll under.

I look forward to writefaggottry though. to steal. And more art

Yes, these threads to populate pretty slowly.

>>

Any of the two or three people here have a story request for me?
>>
>>26661449
Where did we leave off with Shepards story?

Or do you plan on restarting that entirely?

Also do you have anything prepared that you could just post?
>>
>>26661491

Nothing prepared unfortunately, I just got back from work a little while ago.

I plan on restarting Shepard's story from just before the first contact war, and more or less ignoring the aborted quest. Though I will keep the tricorn hats, those were fun.
>>
>>26661518
That's what I thought.

I'm still for waiting until more people turn up to run the quest but sadly I have to stop posting for a while until I figure out why my 4chanX isn't working anymore.
>>
>>26661616

Sorry to hear you are having problems.

I will finish eating dinner and then try to start Shepard's story, to hopefully draw in some more people.
>>
>>26661648

Righto, sorry this thread still seems DOA, I am trying to get Shep's story started. Trying to think of how to properly begin, when and where and so forth.
>>
>>26661970

“Keep moving!” Shouted a lieutenant somewhere up ahead, “Don’t get pinned down!”

He gripped his rifle hard in his hands, his breath hard and panicked, heart racing in his chest. He looked up under the rim of his helmet at the distant enemy positions, daring to glimpse the strangers who so desperately wished to take his life. A moment later a line of bullets stitched across the ground next to him, and he ducked back behind cover, trying desperately to steady his nerves.

“Goddamnit!” An officer somewhere shouted, “We have to move up, if we stay here we’re all dead from that crossfire, move up!”

He gripped his rifle harder and leaped out from cover, feeling a brace of rounds rip through the air by his head, splattering uselessly against the ground behind him. A corporal to his left died messily, chewed apart by automatic fire. He slammed into cover underneath the enemy fortification, looking up at the foxhole high above him, and priming a grenade. He threw the explosive up, the blast of blood and shrapnel a moment later telling him he had done his job.

“Move up!” He shouted to his squad, “The foxhole is clear, get out of the killzone!”

They rushed over to his position, one limping from a grazing shot.

“Where is the lieutenant?” He asked, “Dead.” Came a reply. “And the sergeant?” “Dead too.”

He nodded slowly, it seemed that he was in charge now, everyone higher up was dead.

“Right, we have to press on, I’ll be damned if the whole advance has to wait on our sorry asses, move it out!” The squad followed his lead, climbing up the path towards the fortifications above. Someone in an enemy uniform popped out in front of him and he shot the enemy dead. Wrong place, wrong time. Simple as that.
>>
>>26662300

Is anybody here tonight? If you are I will gladly continue writing and posting.

>>

I'm here, wtill without 4chanX but whatever.
>>
>>26662450
I've been waiting for this all day.
And by 'aborted quest', you mean the one with Shepard and not the First Contact War quest, right? Because I was enjoying that.
>>
>>26662300

He glanced down at the corpses he stepped over, wondering if he felt too much or too little for the dead men beneath his feet. A bullet pinged off a rock beside his head and he abandoned such theological puzzles in favor of staying alive.

“Suppressive fire!” He shouted, firing around the corner. Someone threw another grenade and they continued to advance.

“We have to secure that bunker!” He shouts, “You two with me, we’re flanking them! The rest of you keep their damn heads down!”

He rushed from cover to cover, trying to get a better vantage point, popping off a few shots to keep the enemy pinned. Against all logic his plan seemed to be working, duck and weave, bob and cover, shoot and move, never keep still.

One of the men behind him went down, crying out as he clutched his bloodied side.

“Damnit!” He shouted as he doubled back around, grabbing the downed soldier by his uniform and dragging him across the ground.

“You’ll get yourself killed.” The wounded man coughed.

“Not today man, I have not lived nearly enough for it to end here and now, not shut up and let me drag you.”

“Let go,” The man wheezed, “No sense in you dying… just let go.”

“Like hell I will, now shut it and keep some pressure on that wound, we are getting out of this if I have to drag you all the way! Now come on and…”

The world was consumed in pain, and he fell sideways. He dimly reached down and felt his side, his hand coming back red with blood. He lay his head against the ground and looked up at the sky, trying to find the strength to move. It would not come to him. He reached over and held the hand of the wounded man beside him.

“You still alive?” He asked weakly.

“Yeah.” Came the shaky reply.
>>
>>26662654

“Good, good…” For some reason checking on that seemed incredibly important at the time.

“Hey, hey don’t you leave me here alone!” The other man wheezed, “Don’t you dare die on me now!”

He tried to blink back the black walls forming at the edges of his vision.

“Come one man, don’t leave me here alone, come on please. Shepard please don’t die now, Shepard!”

Everything went black.
>>
>>26662650
Yes, I am ending the one about Shepard on Eden Prime. But I am going to tell that story as part of the story that just started.

I am simply not up to running two quests. AND short stories. AND main story, AND an entierly unrelated story, I am already neglecting other projects to run this one.

So sorry, but I am simply not going to be able to run that one, I never intended for it to be anything more than a short little one shot interactive scene anyways.
>>
>>26662706
Well, things never turn out the way you expect.
Especially on 4chan.
>>
>>26662796

Too true.

I am wondering where the quest crowd has gone, I said I would be back today, but nothing.

Oh well. I will write a bit more and play ME multiplayer for a bit, then come back.
>>
>>26662706
I'm here, at least.
>>
>>26662706
Thats cool man, I'd rather some quality writing than a smattering of less good quests
Anyway, general EP question: where be all the shotguns? The main rule book has no stats for them, and I refuse to believe one of the most adaptable CQC designs ever made has passed out of favour
>>
>>26662970

I want to homebrew in shotguns, but have not given the crunch much thought. Good old room brooms are here to stay as far as I am concerned.
>>
>>26662906
Well it is about 2 hours earlier than yesterday and I believe we have been infiltrated by NORPs who actually do stuff on a friday evening.
>>
>>26663031
imo shorguns are about the funnest weapons to use because you can just keep coming up with ammunition types, or rather stuff you stuff into it and see what it does if sufficiently accelerated.
>>
>>26663068

True, but EP has crazy ammo types for every other kind of gun, so shotguns are nothing unusual.

>>26663032
NORPs?
>>
>>26662668

“Shepard! Shepard!”

Shepard slowly opened his eyes, looking around him.

/Shepard?/ A gentle voice asked, seeming a little worried.

Shepard looked around his bedroom, taking in his surroundings. The place seemed odd to him at first, he tried to make connections between the objects and the memories floating through his mind. Yes, that is my wardrobe, my rifle is on the wall there, medals over there, yes, I remember now. I live here, this is my room, my home, at least my current one. Where is my computer terminal? Shepard looks around the room for it for a moment. Oh right, those were made obsolete decades ago, I had almost forgotten.

But he had forgotten, forgotten it all. Shepard unzipped the cocoon he was sleeping in and floated free into the room, zero gravity, right. He kicked over to a mirror on the wall and looked in, as he did every morning, taking in the features of his face. Male, fairly young too, short brown hair, brown eyes, an unremarkable early twenty-something.

/Shepard, are you alright?/ The gentle female voice in his mind asked again.

“Fine Jennifer,” He says aloud, “Just bad dreams is all.”
>>
>>26663068
Judging by the number of ammo types in EP, thats less of an issue for other guns
But the value of a weapon that does immense damage in close quarters while lacking the punch to wreck a habitat feels obvious
>>
>>26663168

Heck yes, the possibilities are great.

I just want to avoid the trope of shotguns shooting spitballs at anything greater than ten feet, that's just silly.
>>
>>26663126
Normal ordinary responsible people, the polar opposite of the neckbeards which used to inhabit this site.

>>26663126
>>26663168
You don't understand, you can put EVERYTHING in a shotgun. Nothing is stopping me from just stuffing a bunch of nanobots in a shell or Uranium or the future equivalent of hot glue mixed with ball bearings.
>>
>>26663225
It is, and in fact one of the secondary uses for the shotgun I was thinking of was Barsoomians. We have an entire underclass literally called rednecks, and they don't pump action shotguns to threaten strangers and corporate executives with. Massive oversight right there
>>
>>26663232

Nanobot warheads are a part of standard EP rulebook. But I imagine you could pack a lot more of them into a shotshell than a rifle round.

Muehehehe.....
>>
>>26663319
I wouldn't actually fill the bots in, I'd put them into pellets with holes in themso they'd fly further. Or encase them in something like hot glue so I can deliver a huge load of them at quite a distance.
Oh the possibilities.
Imagine you put this in an auto shottie..q
>>
>>26663145

/Bad dreams?/ Jennifer asks, sounding disapproving, /That would be the third time this week. Last time you tried to fight your way out of the cocoon, mumbling something about a net./

“Just some old memories coming to the surface, nothing I can’t handle.” Shepard says, still examining his face in the mirror. This morph looked a little too young for his liking, it was a perfectly good body, but looking like a fresh faced university student did not often fit his character. Still, it was good to go unnoticed sometimes.

/You sure? Because your brainwave readings last night were very erratic./

“You snooping through my brain again?” Shepard asked as he pulled on his clothes, the smart fabric reconfiguring to create a utilitarian jumpsuit, lots of pockets and pouches.

/I live in your brain Shepard, I can’t help but take in the scenery./ Jennifer says.

“I don’t know why I put up with you some days.” Shepard huffed as he opened the door and floated out.

/Because you would be lost without me?/ His muse asks.

/Probably./ He thinks back.
>>
>>26663433

Shepard reaches out with a foot to grab the railing outside his door, looking around the inside of the habitat he lives on. He has lived here for, what, a year or so? Amazing how time flies when you don’t pay it any attention. His current home is a beehive habitat burrowed into a large metallic asteroid, not that distant from Nova York actually. A few other stations like this one formed a neighborhood close enough to count upon each other in case anything went wrong that they themselves were unable to fix. Life here was good enough, good people, good homes, though they were often confining in the size of private quarters.

To compensate his home hab, Ithaca, set aside many large caverns for public use. The events there ranged from public performances, to sports events, to massive AR games and parties. Some caverns more isolated from the main tunnel network often hosted their own parties, though with a rather more intimate atmosphere.

/I know what you’re thinking./ Jennifer said disapprovingly, /And the answer is no, you do not have time to go check up on anybody, you have a job to do today./

Shepard dragged his mind out of his reverie and kicked off down the tunnel. She was right of course, he had a job to do today, he had to stay focused.
>>
>>26663690
what point in time is this?
>>
>>26663740

I am still thinking actually.

If I wanted to hurry on to the First Contact War I could just set it a few months before, or take my time and set it during the founding of the Alliance.
>>
>>26663820
I'd like to see a bit about the founding of the Alliance, if not necessarily from Shepard's POV.
>>
>>26663928

Not everything would be from Shep's POV, the story will have multiple characters and quantum leap between them, including at least one Turian OC, when the time comes.

I am taking a break for some ME multiplayer for a bit, hopefully this place will be more populated when I come back.
>>
>>26663997
Me too. Being the only person in a thread is boring.
>>
>>26664076
You aren't. I'm just not checking this thread very often.

Well that match ended in a TPK after three rounds. Because SOMEBODY locked the entire team in the reactor core as it spiked...

So yeah, not going back to that right now.
>>
>>26664404
HAAH WAAW
>team based online games

I assume you were playing ME3 MP, is it actually any good? I didn't bother with ME3 after the ending disastter but I'm really burned out on BF3 and Warframe and I need another online game to play.
>>
>>26664495

I really like ME3 MP, somewhere around sixty characters with unique abilities and movement profiles.

Highlights include a Geth Juggernaut, Volus biotic god, and a Krogan with a really, really big hammer. He beats people with it.

All the DLC was released for free, the number of guns and mods is absurd, and the objective waves make turtling up impossible.

Only real downside is that the only mode is wave defense, but the multiple factions and unique play styles of every character make it varied enough to stay interesting.
>>
>>26664551
>All the DLC was released for free

Well that was precisely the thing holding me off, I thought there was a ton of DLC for it that wasn't free.
Alright, I'm getting it tomorrow. I hope I don't annoy too many people by sucking hard at first.
>>
>>26664617

Maybe we'll meet up sometime, I'm a vet at that game.

Also, Krogan are so much fun to play, they have an ability called 'Rage' which allows them to enter a state of heightened melee damage and damage resistance after getting a few melee kills. And they sound like this while fighting in melee.

Raaah! HooRAAAAAAHHHAHAGHGHG HAHAHAHAHAH MUAHAHAHA RAAHGGHA!
>>
>>26664617

To be clear, the MP DLC is free, the single player DLC is not.

Great DLC too, new maps, new weapons, new characters, classes and weapons.

Love that game, the MP at least.
>>
>>26664661
Well, I'm already eyeing for a Krogan character since in every game I play, I play shotguns. And I somehow always rape with them, no exception.
This is how I play in ALL games: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXLqiAxr2LA
I hate self-advertising but I'm trying to make a point.

I am hoping there are some satisfying shotguns in this.
>>
>>26664757

Claymore. You can put a bayonet on it. And then beat people to death with it.

While your Krogan laughs like a maniac.
>>
Just wanting to say that you've got another reader over here who's hanging on your every post.
>>
>>26664777
Oh yes, I'm liking the sound of this.
Is there some skill that allows me to manically charge into enemies?

Also I think we should get back to topic...
We can exchange in game names when I actually have the game.
>>
>>26664757
I wonder which shell is he using?
>>

>>26664786

>>
>>26664828
I'm using buckshot for most of it. Flechette is not really worth it if you properly get into range.

For detonating the C4 on the vehicles and on the ground I'm using frag obviously.
>>
>>26664851

The trail of C4 with the sniper on the tower had me laughing like a madman, the wait, as the music builds, before the final payoff... Priceless.
>>
>>26664844
Thanks, I try to sync the stuff to music properly, something which apparently the rest of youtubers don't bother with.
But now back to Shepard and his shenanigans.
>>
>>26664851
Those were on normal servers am I right? Great video by the way, very nice editing.
>>
>>26664937
Yeah, no trickery going on.
The people are really that retarded.
>>
>>26663690

Shepard flitted through tunnels and junctions, around twisting corners and through vast caverns. Here and there he exchanged a polite word with a familiar face, slipping into the easy lie of my current identity. Right now I am known to the world as Kyle Hudson, a twenty three year old techie who came to Ithaca to live a quiet life of repair work and free expression. Such stories were not unheard of in Ithaca, or the surrounding habitats, this part of the belt was a fairly sleepy little suburb laying a virtual stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of Nova York.

The only person who knew Shepard’s true identity was Jennifer, and she wasn’t telling. Shepard leaped through one last tunnel before arriving at his destination. This tunnel had been abandoned months ago when the materials here ran out. There was no need to build any habitat facilities here, but it was inevitable that the living areas would eventually expand to include it. But for the foreseeable future this tunnel was a dark abandoned waste.

/Dark places for dark deeds./ He thought.

/Must you always be so melodramatic?/ Jennifer asked.

/Only when the situation calls for it./ He replied, allowing the hint of a grin to slip over his face.
>>
>>26665084

Also, for those who need to be reminded. The voice key is as follows.

"Spoken words."

[Mind to mind comlinks.]

/Talking to muse./
>>
>>26665084
continue...?

Are you dead or writing slow?
>>
>>26665394

Sorry, I got distracted, also I am a little sick today, I will have more in a moment.
>>
>>26665460
Hope it clears up.
>>
>>26665460
Sorry to hear that, just don't force yourself to stare at this screen for hours and write for us if you're not feeling well.
>>
>>26665084

Shepard scanned the tunnel, the T-Ray emitter in his forehead rendering the entire tunnel bare to his enhanced eyes, scanning through solid objects and simply ignoring shadows altogether. Well, there they were, four people, just as promised. And an extra three hiding in various nooks and crannies where they thought nobody could find them. Cute, they were even holding rifles. Well, so much for a show of good faith.

Shepard let go of the railing with the fingers on his feet, the bouncer’s superior ability allowing him to easily hop across the gap to the arranged meeting point towards the middle of the tunnel. Whoever positioned the snipers had at least some idea of what they were doing, they had decent enough sight lines, though no good way to reposition. Still, they were only expected to have to make one shot if things went to hell. Shepard wanted to grin, but he suppressed the urge, best to remain in character. He shifted about nervously as the four men came out of the little shed they had been hiding in, skipping across the floor towards him.

“That’s close enough!” Shepard called in a slightly shaky voice, “And keep those hands where I can see them!”

Shepard’s enhanced eyes gave him a rather unwelcome close up of the unpleasant smile on one of the men’s faces.
>>

It's okay, just an annoying cold, but I enjoy writing this.

But my download of Dead Rising 2 just completed... So I am gaming and writing in alternating intervals.

>>
>>26665504

“So, you’re Kyle Hudson?” The smiling man asks.

“That’s me.” Shepard says, nodding.

“Surprised the Cartel would send someone, well, someone like you.” The smiling man says again, looking Shepard up and down.

“Nobody else to do it.” Shepard says, projecting the outward appearance of a man clearly uncomfortable with his surroundings.

“Well, as long as someone is here to do it.” The smiling man says, his hand resting on a poorly concealed handgun under his jacket.

“So, now that the pleasantries are over with, why don’t we get this going? I believe you have a data chip for me.”

“You show me your chip first.” Shepard says, with the feeling of a man desperately trying to contain how afraid he is.

The smile vanished quickly. “Impertinent whelp aren’t you.”

/This one annoys me./ Jennifer whispered.

/Me as well, but bear it a little longer please, we need to verify the package./

/Of course./
