Alice slips free from your grasp as you remain upon your knee, she slowly strides up to the woman, looking up with a small amount of wonder,"You're pretty, you know that? I like your hair as well. Looks like it'd smell like the forest, or perhaps a garden. I really like gardens, flowers especially."
The Queen of Clubs kneels down before Alice, speaking like an adult would kindly to a child," Oh yes?" She touches her hair thoughtful to the point," I was touched by a spirit of the forest, a fairy if you would while I was younger.."

Alice's eyes go wide as she smiles with wonder," Really? Really? You were touched by a fairy? What was it like?"
The Woman of Green, thinks for a moment,"Well, it was like being kissed by sunlight and water- Both at once!" She raises a finger,"More importantly though is where the fair lived. Young lady, what is your name?"
Alice smiles, an innocent and sweet one," Alice, my name is Alice of the Road!"

"Then it's settled! From now on, you're Regina Road!" Alice embraces the woman around her waist, giggling cheerfully into the woman's leather coat. A gentle embraced returned, the woman smiles down to her.

Alice looks to you, her eyes bright and cheerful, innocent like any other little girl you've seen as you maintain your facade.
Yet you suddenly see a sudden dead darkness fall into her eyes,"Please, would it really be so simple? Your other part has tormented me for years and you expect me to simply forgive and forget?" The girl looks up to the woman,the latter's body beginning to tremble.
"I must thank my dear Bondomu for giving such a gift to me, a target for all of the hate I've built up since my last life!" You hear a sickening crunch as Alice's embrace begins to tighten, the woman shrieks in pain as her pelvis is destroyed, falling unto the little girl that casts her aside like a ragdoll.
"I am Alice of the Road, and you are a toy. Say that you are a toy." The Noah looks down to the human, her skin darkening and blonde hair turning into black coal.
"Please," The woman begs," Just let me die. I've wanted to die for so long now, please. Please." She begins to crawl away on her back, legs useless, she backs toward you until you clear your throat.
"You'll find no aid from me." You muse, chuckling at the lady's misfortune, relieved that you haven't lost your cute little sister.
"What a Pity," Maashiima chuckles, as he walks over beside you, kicking the human in the face as she looks back. "Humans like yourselves must grovel properly to your Noah masters." He gestures towards Alice, and firmly plants his heel upon the woman's neck to drive her face into the stone of the throne-room's floor.

Alice smiles, and skips over to the throne that you had so graciously made. She sets her petite rump in the cushion of the chair and giggles, absolutely giddy as she kicks her feet about,"Regina Road, you are a toy. You must say this and kiss my feet. Mayhaps I shall grant you permission to die after that?" Alice gestures Maashiima away, and he lifts his foot from the Once-queen.

Regina looks up, distraught yet seeing her only ray of hope,"I.. I am a toy."

"I am Alice Road's toy." She repeats, and begins to crawl.

We don't want to paint the equivalent of a neon sign on our house by making it obviously EVIL.

Keep it mainly down to earth, but embellish it with some dark. Use darker than normal stone, thick solid steel, line the walls with murderholes, plenty of Grotesques and Gargoyles on the walls and overhangs. Have the gate lead to a long tunnel under the walls that we can seal off on both sides and trap people in. Make the moat water, because people notice when your moat is on fire.

I'd say go for down to earth. We do not want the kind of castle that any halfway decent exorcist takes one look at and then charges in for a glorious battle with demons. How about we offer a dark covenant to the King of Scotland? We could turm into level 1 akumas, say, one thousand of his warriors in return for the blood of 19 of their firstborn. We may want to call them demon beast warriors.

Gargoyles come to your mind, and you begin to set them there, yet your thoughts begin to linger towards your original LV1 form.. And thus, they take the shape of snarling, not-machine hounds glaring down upon any that would pass by. You leap yourself upon the finished work and add on one last touch that every castle wall needs...

A moat!
Yes, indeed, you require a moat, your eyes catch a river that is some distance away, and you grimace.. that may be too much... For now, you'll carve out the moat and imagine water into it.. Should the last bit of winter freeze it? oh well. You'll have someone connect it to the river over yonder soon enough.

It warms you at least, that your family has a real chance at a home... And none too far from a possible war at that!

Having an especially confounding labyrinth along with oodles of traps would've required the nearly impossible labyrinth option.

A shmuck with a ball of yarn could figure out this labyrinth, and if he had enough people to set off any would-be traps, he could make it the same.

The Arena option gives them an all but guaranteed ticket to the kill-zone, however beyond that would be the castle proper. It sacrifices true confounding by putting all enemies in one spot.

My thinking is this..

The walls of the catcle feed directly into the labryinth. Once you enter the gate, you're inside the labyrinth.
It spans somewhat along the inside of the castle walls , dipping down into the earth as you take the wrong turns that lead down into the arena and centering under the castle.

If they don't take the correct path, they'll end up there whether they power through the sinking slope or not.

You could choose to collapse the castle atop of them, or fight them in the established arena to avoid breaking whatever nice things that you've chosen to stash.

It's not a bad idea overall, though it will require your own hand in battle or champion akuma that can work together fighting.

You feel a strange vibration run through the air as you set yourself to your next task, summoning up walls from the castle grounds, bringing them to the same height as the outer and capping off the extensive, twisting maze with a proper cover of flat black rock that runs to the keep of the ruined castle.
Feeling a touch insulted by the ruined keep, you snap your fingers, and tidy that bit of nonsense right up with a sky door... More Akuma than Exorcists can fly after all. This flat roof would be easier to repair in case a battle broke out anyway. Though you will do to think of contingency plans to keep these a not-issue.
You do hate hiccups in your glorious designs after all.

With a leap, you touch foot outside of the gate and alter a mechanism to grant entry, delving into the depths of your fortress...

You light a small flame as you make your way through one of the many wrong paths you've established within your maze, leading right down several ten feet of the earth and into a hollowed out basin. You hear the running of water from an underground spring... You conclude it to be an aquifer.. A fortunate thing for your needs .. You could even flood this soon-to-be arena if you so chose to.

A smile purses across your lips at the thought and you expand your flame into this chamber, illuminating it in its entirety and focusing with truly fiendish inspiration.

This will be your grand stage for combat. The Arena in which akuma fights man and man fights man purely for the amusement and you and your family, extended and otherwise.

It is now that you dazzle this room with your creation engine, dust and sand virgin to be mixed with blood and guts; Pillars of black stone reinforcing the ceiling and foundation for structural integrity along with flavor.

Gates from which you had just arrived. Black, steel, and as strong as you can possibly imagine. The many entryways will keep the "visitors" from flooding in all at once should you choose that they not.
You create stadium seats, and a several entries leading to the castle proper. For spectators of all sorts, and a Demon gate for the champion that chooses to take the fight to the challengers, or would-be gladiators.

You dance across the field, creating more and more, feeling as though your engine is aflame. Regal box seats for you and your other half, elevated seats for the noble Noah and immediate family. Archer posts for supporting fire should intruders get ahead of themselves.

And finally. You create a fully featured sky using what memories you have of the spring-time. Light shines down upon the arena, betraying the fact that it's inside. This sky is nearly indistinguishable.. Like another world, and another time as you even feel wind pick up. Absolute perfection.

You drop to your knees at the sight of all this, crying tears of black at the amazing thing that you've created. Like another world, a field of battle and death complete with a sky that changes to your whim..

You switch it to a night sky, replete with a full moon and shining stars, the ghastly violet blue of the night falling upon the arena stadium.
Then back to the sun-filled day.

Amazing.

You feel weak now, weary and fall face-first into the ground, feeling quite immobile for a moment,"W-what?"
You feel your form begin to crack, like a fragile eggshell despite the strongest body that you had imagined...
You feel your energy begin to pour out, power levels leaking rapidly, entering a critical state.

I don't know why everybody is so wishy-washy. The terms are clear. The Devil thinks the Doctor isn't evil enough. She's not asking us to betray him NOW, just that we help her plunge EVERYONE into hell some time in the future. As opposed to the Duke, who just wants to kill God and all his servants.

For the sake of actually giving a clear answer, I say no. I don't think the Devil will kill us right now just for disagreeing with her, but she'll likely not redirect the calamities towards outcomes which are always positive for us anymore.

Also, if worse comes to worse, we still have our first Disaster recipe to combat her with. As long as she's not watching us constantly, we can develop a way to fight back against her. So we're not completely helpless.

Though I personally would prefer something more along the lines of what you did to D.Gray-Man for this, but for Soul Eater.

Keep the setting, changing the time period is just fine of course, canon characters who are extremely old and/or important could play a part but otherwise keeping canon characters to a minimum.

Like that Soul Eater Grim Times Quest that died about a month ago. We didn't even get our Weapon yet. The Meister/Weapon relationship is pretty much tailor made for a quest.

This isn't to say that I don't like Chrona, it's a good character, but I don't think that it'd make the best quest.

I think someone like Cosgrove or the new persona OP might be better for a canon quest, I wouldn't necessarily want to inflect the character as presented in the series myself and I prefer having more room to breath when it comes to characters in the first place.

Though when Akuma Quest ends, I'll likely be starting up Gargoyle Redux as opposed to another pre-established series. I might include some elements of claymore and soul eater weapons within that world as it very well could fit within it, so it would be more material to work with overall.

Alas, it seems that it comes in that we do not want to look at her with the lens.
