Adrenaline rushes through your veins as the Nibelwulf charged in bounds at your Einherjar. For a split second it seems as if the ice shards were made of pure crystallized hatred as you put your shield up, protecting the Einherjar's main body; a decision that proved to be crucial, as the Nibelwulf crashed directly into it, its ice form temporarily shed the form of wolf and turned into a massive snowflake, while its cylindrical core thunked into your shield. Thankfully, you hold your ground.
You are Freja-Signi Bjornsdottir, a 14 year-old Einherjar pilot.
At this moment, you are engaging a Nibelwulf, assisted by your annoying friend Karl Brunson in his twin-axed Einherjar, and fellow pilot Hilde Geirridr in her lanced Einherjar. Your Einherjar intercepted the Wulf with sword and board.
And right now, adrenaline pours through your veins.

Thinking quickly, you slash at one of the six icy portrusions while it's still in that form. A burst of radio waves emanated from it as you slice the appendage off with your Prog-sword; A static most like a yelp was what you heard. The Wulf quickly detaches itself from your shield. You hear Karl running over to you, trees falling as his Einherjar tramples them. For a moment, you did not see the Wulf; only to see it lunging at your Einherjar from a blind side.
And you feel pain.
Your Einherjar's blood falls to the forest floor as the Wulf rips off a piece of armor. Alarms blare as the cockpit shakes, and you got a minor flashback to the events that happened from this morning until now.

Even when you're in pain, even when there is the threat of a gods-damned Wulf ending your life, the first thing you thought was your friends.
Where the hell is Karl?
He is right on top of the beast, having done a sprinting leap; bearing down his twin Prog-axes down on the fierce beast. You faintly remember him yelling, but the adrenaline makes you focus on another thing.
Hilde, sprinting as fast as she can, drove her lance up the side of the beast, as it struggles to free itself from Karl's chops. It marks a glancing hit on the cylindrical core of the Wulf, but the beast still moves.

Fast is fine, but accurate is final.

You did receive orders to kill but not harm it too much, so you steady yourself. While Karl is pummeling the beast senseless and Hilde holding it down, you bear down on the Wulf, prog-sword trained to the cylindrical core; You move your shield just enough to prevent Karl from going overboard with it, and thrust your weapon into a ringlike depression on the cylinder's surface, now exposed due to Karl's persistent bashing. With a flash, you hear more of the wailing static, and then all was quiet on the forest floor. The Wulf froze a ring of ice fifty meters out from its death site; Entire swaths of forest flash-frozen, and some part of the lake as well.
The good thing is that you did it in thirty seconds before your Einherjar's power ran out.
As you come out of your battle-trance, and Karl calms down, you notice that all this time you were hailed by Klaus. "Freja! Our sensors register that the beast is dead. What happened out there?"

Still somewhat in an after-battle trance, you yelp out, "Everyone allright?"
Then you realize that you've been hailed by Klaus yet again. "What happened out there? Our visuals went down after that last burst of static. What is your situation?"
"Oh, uh, yes, we got the Wulf. It's dead, but not destroyed."
"Good. We can safely stow away the N2 then. Good job, pilots. Extraction crew, stand by to salvage that core."
Klaus' window shuts, and Karl's window opens. "Bjorn! You're okay? Thank the gods you're okay!"
Ugh, what now you annoying yet useful loon?

Karl sniffles a bit, his face very unmanly. "Thank the gods... I was really worried."
You shift to Hilde, who is still the calm one. "That was good work, pinning it down like that. I'm looking forward to working together in the future."
"You too." That was all she said, as all three Einherjar lose power and shuts down. Automatically, the cockpit ejects slowly, and you breath a fresh air. You see Karl and Hilde exiting their cockpit, and you do too; the sky is now blue and clear, where before thunderclouds rolled overhead.
What do you do while waiting for the extraction crops to come?

While you three wait for extraction...
"So, Hilde, how long have you been a pilot?"
"About ten years."
"Wait, really?" You think she is joking.
"Actual time piloting would be two years. But I have been trained since I was young."
Suddenly Karl pipes in, "Also, how long have you been packing ass that phat?"
You reply, "Gods damn it Karl, and I thought you were kind of awesome for a moment there."
Karl halts. "Wait, really?"
"Nope! I lied! Back to your regularly scheduled ass-kicking from me!"
Then, suddenly a giggle that is not yours or Karl's. "You two sound like an item." Hilde says.

Flabbergasted, you blurt out, "What. No."
To your surprise, Karl says the exact same line at the same time.
Hilde giggles again. "There's not a lot that can make me laugh, you know. You two are two of them."
"Ugh... just as long as you don't call me and Karl an 'item' again."
As you three were chatting you look down to see the extent of damage done by the Wulf. The forest floor below is colored blackish red, the blood of the Einherjar clotting; while in some places it was blasted cold and dry from the Wulf's final moments. The chest armor is completely torn and mangled on the ground, but you can't fully see the damage.
"Hey Hilde and Karl, can you see the damage on my Einherjar?"
Hilde quickly responded. "Large lacerations to the second layer, first armor layer completely torn off. Massive hemorrhaging to the chest area, but not detrimental wounds."
Karl adds, "Gonna leave a nasty scar."
Just before you were about to blast his ass over the radio waves over nothing, really, the sound of helicopters interrupt you. "Oh hey, the extraction team's here."

After the relatively short heli flight, and the barrage of physical tests later, and the short after-battle shower, you find yourself walking down the halls of AESIR HQ with Karl and Hilde. "So, Hilde, Helga said you're an orphan?"
Hilde's yellow eyes glimmer for a bit. "Yes, I was very young then. Lab accident, supposedly. My parents were AESIR members, so AESIR took me in. That was about when I took the training as a pilot."
"That's quite harsh." You empathize with her. You remember your own family life as well, before AESIR chose you; having a pitiful mother and a father that smelt of mead and beer is not a good childhood. But you have strived to be better, to be more mature, to be tough when life gives you lemons. "I had a harsh life too, I guess. But it's fine if you have friends."
Hilde smiles thinly. "Yes, it is good to have friends."
But then, your eyes saw sudden movement. Karl! He goes for an assgrab! His target is Hilde!
So you quickly used your hand to intercept Karl's...
resulting in his hand slamming into yours, pushing your hand to rest softly at Hilde's buttock. But you have no time to register that, you follow up that movement and turn it into a headlock, victim: Karl. Then you give him the best ever noogie yet in his life. "KARL! You pervert!"
In between the "ow ow ow"s Karl emitted, and the little yelp Hilde emitted, you apply your knuckles liberally onto his head. After some rounds of headnoggery, you let him go. "That was for being a pervert." And then a slap behind the head. "That, was for the nice assist. Now who wants to go for pizzas?"
Karl seems a bit flabbergasted from your un-violent end, and Hilde smiles thinly again.
"Okay, I'll go ask Helga about the pizzas."
Karl pipes up. "Dude, Bjorn, you sure about that?" subtly reminding you of Helga's hellish driving.

"Did someone say PIZZA?" Helga's voice startles us. "Come on, I'll give you a ride to the pizza place! It's not that far!"
"Uh, thanks, but we'd think we'd just order delivery."
"No! I know a good place! And delivery pizza is often not that good, you know. We're going to go to Pizza Hall!"
Your mind is now racing for excuses. "But will we have room, COMFORTABLE room, with Hilde? She's coming too, you know."
Helga laughs. "What? Oh, don't worry, I dropped of Lars at his office."
