(Welcome to Seafarer of the Stars Quest! We are Geo Von Hunter, a young lad in the Maritime Academy of Stars, hoping to become a full-fledged captain!)Previous thread:>>29799784This is it. What you've been waiting for. All this time in the Maritime Academy of Stars, and now, your final is here. It's been a long journey, and now, the end is in sight. You go to your final Nautical class, where two frigates await, stripped to the bones. Professor Silver, a potbellied, smiling man, waves at you all, stepping to the front of the crowd.“Today, class, I welcome you to the realm of sailors. For this is going to be your grand final. Here, off the shores of the academy, we shall hold a mock duel, to test your weaponeering, cultural, and nautical skills! In the harbor-” He points off the shoreline, where you can see two massive islands floating in sea-space.“We have two islands, representing each side. Your job is to take these boats and outfit them with the appropriate material for the culture they represent, and fight for control. Whoever takes the flag of the other island, back to their own, wins! In the next few days, do your best to prepare for this battle!”“Now, divide into groups!”Almost immediately, you watch the crowd separate from Seigrid, and Espadan prince.. Ever since he stole that crystal and got arrested, People have been avoiding him like the plague. It doesn't help that he has a crazed, desperate look on his face. But can you really let him fail because of it?You:>Join his side.>Stay on your own.>let the Professor handle it.>other.
>>29810794>>let the Professor handle it.
>>29810794>Join his sideWildcard, bitches.

Rolled 90>>29811057>It's not his fault he's a dick.I don't know why this made me laugh so hard
>>29810794>Stay on your own side.Look, he's been acting strangely and has always been an asshole. He's unreliable and we're only in the academy - how do you think he'll perform when we're actually in battle? Not worth the risk!
>>29811149how can you hope to be a leader if you abandon someone who is so obviously crying out for help? A leader is someone who takes those under them and makes them the best they can be. Your job isn't to be the best, it's improve others, and in doing so creating a set of circumstances in which you can improve yourself.
>>29810894>>29810925>>29810951>>29811002>>29811005>>29811018>>29811057>Join him.As the crowd shifts, placing distance between themselves and Seigrid, you step forward. The crowd stops and for a second you feel uncomfortable as they stare and you and Seigrid on the same side. Then, two people join you. Alantra steps over, and so does Serseri. You look and Seigrid, and give him a firm nod.You may not be friends, but at the very least, you can work together. With this, the crowd moves again, and balances itself a little bit more evenly. While the other side has quite a bit more people, you now have enough for a good-sized crew. Professor Silver claps his hand once and grins. “Excellent! Now, we have agents around the docks, so we want you find them and arrange for all the equipment you will need for your ship. Though there may be one problem.”With this, he grins. “We have an uneven amount of everything. So depending on who you go to first, you may find yourselves lacking in areas.”Each side stares at him.“well, what are you waiting for? Go! The sails and cannon merchants are there...and there!”He points in two opposite directions. You decide to head to:>The cannon merchants. +Weaponeering>the Sail merchants. +Nautical
>>29811218>Sail merchantsThe enemy ships can't fight us if we're sailing too fast to catch - plus we have the best Coutlan sailor on our team.
Rolled 72>>29811218>>the Sail merchants. +NauticalYou need to be able to go places in order to shoot themAnd you can always cutlass something to death without cannons.
Rolled 94>>29811218>the Sail merchants. +NauticalWe have less crew, let's go for outmaneuvering and not combat
Rolled 51>>29811218the sail merchants. we're lacking in numbers, so we'll make up for it in precision on the water, where their numbers mean less.
Rolled 51>>29811218Sail, movement will be key here.

Rolled 16>>29811218Sail merchants because SPEED and TACTICS
Rolled 98Let's start thinking about how to organize our crew. Since we have way less people we're gonna need precise work using everyone's talent to their fullest
>>29811437Agreed we need to place them in spots correctly for their skills. Serseri is going to be a asset as a helmsman
>>29811437Well Seigrid is obviously on cannons and I'd rather have Serseri man the helm while Alantra watches the sail.

It's no question which is the superior, so you grab the best one, and send some of the crew members back to install them on the masts. At the Cannon merchant, however, six parcels of cannons greet greet you. Looking at them, it seems it would be hard to tell which one is the better choice. The merchant, seeing your reluctance, speaks.“Half of the packages is stock standard for a ship. The other, however, will impede it rather greatly. Use the skills you picked up in the academy, and choose wisely, whether you want close, medium, or long-ranged ones.””You look over the cannons, but Serseri immediately heads to the row on the left.“We should pick the ones in this row.”Alantra pipes up. “yes, but which ones?”The choice falls to you.>Short.>Medium.>Long.

>>29811541Short. The speed of our sails will allow us to preform hit and run tactics especially if we use Chase cannons
Rolled 94>>29811541Medium, although I get the feeling that since we have the best sails long might have some merit too
>>29811575To elaborate: We are going to have an agile and fast ship. If we need to attack we can easily approach them, fire a salve and retract. Do this multiple times and we win!

As he collapses onto the groundyou smile momentarily at Serseri before turning to Seigrid.”Take control of the long cannons and shoot down those longboats.
