That's the point. We need something big here. Sylvie is going to stay mad at us because so far we've done nothing to counteract her idea that we hate her. Words and 'empty' promises aren't enough. We need something big, something meaningful that'll force her to see we really do care for her. If this was more combat oriented, I'd say taking a sword to the gut for her would probably work, but since it isn't, this'll do nicely.
