You are Anthony Grant, but right now you are more so Ambrosis the level 30 cleric.

You are also currently in the Mr. Boddy's murder mansion and there is something in the attic.

To make things worse, Lilac, the level 14 sorceress, is apparently just below whatever is up there.

To make things even worse, you are a floor below Lilac.

To make things strange, the thing in the attic has your voice.

“Please tell this is a sick joke.” Lilac whispers to you over the in-game call.

“I swear to God, that's not me.” You respond. You tried to think of anything that could be the answer.

A mimic?

A shapeshifter?

Canis?

Canis.

It had to be Canis.

He always had a way with voices. He had a voice for any person or thing. How could he not have a voice for you?

“Hold on.” You tell Lilac, “I think I know who is doing this.”
>>
>>31762439
You hang up on her with a 'Click' and open up your friend list. You call Canis, your face contorted into a are-you-fucking-kidding-me style before your friend even picks up.

RING

RING

RING

RING

“Guy, what the hell?” Says the voice of Canis.

“Guy,” You respond, “Stop impersonating me and get out of the attic.”

There is a pause, and then Canis replies, “First off, is being in the attic like being in the closet? Are you calling me double-gay or something? Cause if y-”

“No!” You cut him off, “I mean the literal attic, as in, the attic of the house you are currently in. Get out of THAT attic.”

“Alright, well, I'm not in the attic, and secondly, I can't do your voice. I mean ... listen.” He adopts a high pitched, horrid whailing of a voice. “ThIS iS WHat iT souNDS lIKE wHEn I dO yOuR VoiCE!” He returns to normal. “See? Doesn't work. Can't do it.” “

Your grogy brain tries to process the information.

“Good night!” He announces.

CLICK

You really didn't need this right now. You just wanted to go to sleep. Was that so much to ask?

RING

RI-

“Hello again.” You say to Lilac.

“I don't want to alarm you,” She whispers, “But I'm starting to freak out.”

You sigh and get out of bed. “What's happening now.”

“I think he's come down stairs.” A pause. “He's in the hallway.”

You groggily walk towards the door. “Alright. I'm gonna-”

“He stopped at my door.”

A long silence.

CLICK

This had to be some kind of elaborate ruses, right? You open the door to a pitch black hallway and instinctively summon up the the cute-faced balls of light. Walking out towards the stairs, you hear a voice coming from the darkness of the main hall.

“Go ahead, try to fire.” Comes the voice of Judicature. “We both know there're no charges left in that wand.”

Thinking about it in context, it doesn't sound like she's being attacked, since we'd have heard a prolonged battle and how would she know whether a wand did or didn't have a charge otherwise (do wands even have charges in Elder Tale? She might just be appropriating a wild west cliche in a case of sudden onset chuuni or something).

“One for Mr. Body, two for the chandelier, two for the door, and one for the messenger! That's one plus-!”

“You okay, Judi?” You call out.

She yells out a garbled message. Then there is silence. Then a “No! Yes! I mean... I am perfectly fine. How long have you been there?”

“Who were you talking to?” You ask.

“N-no one. Who were you talking to!?”

You pause. “You. I was talking to you.”

“Yeah... well...”

“Lilac says she heard something in the attic. That wasn't you was it?”

“Was not me.”

“Well, whoever it is, they are freaking her out.” You pause. “Or she's screwing with my head.”

“Well, I would love to come with you, but I'm stuck.”

“How are you stuck?” You instinctively begin descending the staircase.

“Us non-mages don't have floaty-balls like you guys do.” You here her stifle a giggle and mumble, “Floaty-balls...”

You suppress an internal groan and continue down the stairs. When you reach the bottom you look around. “Where are you?”

“Stay right there.” She instructs.

You wait a while, then hear someone trampling over glass.

You inquire. “What happened?”

“I shot the chandelier.” She responds.
>>
>>31763406
She finally reaches the light and you raise an eyebrow to her.

“It's what happens in the quest.” She informs you. “Although, it's strange, the players cannot pick up the weapons normally.”

You shake your head, and begin climbing the stairs. Then you hear a shriek. It's Lilac's voice. You bolting up the stairs. “Lilac!?”

You cry out. Up and up the stairs you run until you are at the top floor hallway where the master bedroom is. “Lilac!?” You call out again.

RING

RING

You answer Lilac's call. “Lilac, the hell are you doing!?”

“Help me, Ambrosis!” Cries out Lilac, “I'm stuck in the room!”

“We are on our way!” Judicature announces.

You grab hold of Judicature's arm and whisper. "That's not Lilac."

"Then where is Lilac?" She whispers back.

"I don't know."

"How could you not know!?"

"Do I look like her keeper?"

"No, but..." She sighs, "So, what are we going to do?"

"Are you two still there!?" Calls the voice of Lilac, "I'm so scared and alone!" This voice also did not produce an echo.

"I don't know." You whisper, "But going in that room is not one of the things we should do!"

You look up do the doorway, and notice purple lines dissipate into the air.

You look to the Duelist and ask, "Was that someone stealthing?"

"You two could have saved me." You here Lilac whisper in your ear. "You could have prevented this."

Judicature, in turn, grabs your arm and begins running at full tilt. "Run away!" She yells, charging down the corridor.

A left turn, then another left. She pushes an antic clock to the side, revealing a hole in the wall, which Judicature jumps into, dragging you along for the ride.

The two of you go tumbling down a stairway until you finally reach the bottom, where there is a door.

"This leads to the basement." Judicature tells you. "We can get in here and jump up to the main hall and get out of here."

"Thunderclap!" You hear over the call.

"Lilac! What the hell is going on!?" You say.

"Running for my life!" She responds.

"Let me talk to her! I can get her out of there!" Judicature says.

You don't think anything of it, so you say, "Lilac, call Judi. She can help."

CLICK.

Judi begins to talk over the call.

"Okay, where are you."

A pause.

"Alright. Do you see the bear head?"

A pause.

"Okay, slap the bear head, and jump into the fireplace."

Another pause.

"Did I stutter!? Slap the bear head and jump in the fireplace!"

You hear gears turning and stone dragging across stone. Judicature pushes you back a little and looks down at her feet. Takes a couple steps left, then the tiniest step right. She extends out her arms and into her arms lands the tiny Lilac. Judicature places the sorceress down gently, then turns to you. "And that is how it's done."

"What about the others?" Lilac inquires.

You and Judi look at each other with a grimace of I-can't-believe-I-forgot. You look to Lilac and say, "I was just about to wake everyone up!"

You begin to call Canis.

RING

"So, what was that?" Judicature asks Lilac.

RING

"It looked to be a necromancer specced Summoner with the tracker subclass." Lilac responds. "I hid in the dresser till she left, then stunned the zombie and escaped."

RING

"Again!? Guy!" Canis yells.

"No, guy! You listen here! We got stealth zombies an' shit tearin' up the mansion!" You yell back.

"Actually," Lilac corrects, "Only the summoner would be hidden. The zombies are still be able to be seen."

"I don't care about stealth zombies! Let me sleep!" Canis responds.

"You will when they go and bite off your dick!"

"They can do that!?"

"They can't do that." Lilac says.

"Oh yeah! They if bit off Lilac's arm, they can bite off your dick!" You tell him. A white lie between friends means nothing, after all.

"Fuck this! I'm jumping out the window!"

"Don't jump out the window! Judicature is going to get you out of there. You just gotta call her and listen."

You hand up and look at your friend list.

RIN-

“Uhh... Hello?” Comes the not-so-piratey voice of Trove.

“Zombies have overrun the mansion! You gotta get out of there!”

“Zombies!? Yarr! Sounds like an adventure!”

“No!” You yell, “This is not high-seas adventure time! This is escape the murder mansion alive time!”

“Yarr! A pirate does not turn tail for mere zombies!”

CLICK

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF is the only sound in your head right now.

From Lilac's face, you can tell she fared no better. “Takeshi said that the samurai code will not allow him to retreat.” She explains.

There were no facepalms hard enough to express your feelings.

“Canis is in the other basement secret entrance.” Judicature announces.

That is when you hear Canis yell out, “OH SHIT!”

You push through the door beside you into the actual basement room and see carved up bodies, cracked open rib cages, a head lopsided from the massive chunk it is missing. Blood climbs up the wall into a horrific pattern.

You spot Canis staring at the mural before he looks to you. “The fuck is this!?”

“When can I start suckin' your dick?” Lilac asks.

Your quickly glance over to her. She looks as confused as you are. “I didn't say that!”

That is when you notice the corpses begin to toss and turn.

“She's in the room!” Judicature yells.

“I can't see her!” Canis responds.

Judicature then grabs you. You grab Lilac. Lilac grabs Canis, and the lot of you go charging up the secret passage way you had entered in from before.

“Clever girls...” You hear a sultry, feminine voice you had not known before.

When you reach the top and push the clock out of the way, you see a level 90 zombie standing in your way.

“Not clever enough, though.” You hear your voice say.

“THUNDERCLAP!” Lilac screams, and a small lightning bolt strikes the zombie, dealing one damage and knocking the zombie to the ground.

Judicature runs past the floored zombie, dragging everyone with her.

In your voice, you hear a faint, “Ah, shit!”

The chain of people goes rushing through the corridors and rooms of the mansion, jumping through picture frames and kitchen closets, until you finally see the black-beared bastard.

Everyone stops to catch their breaths, you included.

“Yarr. What be the problem?” The pirate asks.

“We're...” huff, “getting outta...” puff, “here.” You say between gasps of air.

“Yarr. But what about the zombie fightin'?”

“They're level ninety!” You breath deeply. “We can't even damage them!”

“Yarr. Then we'll need to get to the roof.” The pirate says pointing upwards.

“Why!?” You yell.

Judicature grabs your hand, and the entire process begins anew. Up through the library, into the study, through the hallway, and into the attic. You look at the large, Takeshi-sized hole in the roof and sigh.

On the roof you spot the bamboo hatted assassin. “We need to leave!” You yell.

“A samurai never retreats!” He responds, “In the samurai code, it clearly states that anyone who would run away is a dishonorable coward!”

You put your hands to your face. You cannot deal with this shit right now.

“I've got an idea!” Cannis announces, “You can suck my dick instead!”

You turn around. Canis shakes his head. “It wasn't me.” He says.

Behind the entire group you see a dark-skinned, Fox-tail woman with obscene curves. Strips of white cloth in the shape of spiderwebs were the only thing standing against her complete nudity. Her giant breasts and thick hips seemed pornographic, yet all you could think of was...

“You dress like my brother.”

“Pocket sand!” You announce, unleashing chains of blinding light unto the necromancer. A 1 pops up over her head. She does not look amused.

“Summon: Shade!” She cries out, and a ghostly, black figure arises from beneath you. That is when everything goes dark.

“Ya couldn't a' just done this the easy way, could'ya'uv?” Asks a deep, masculine voice you had not hear before. “Ya jus' haaaad ta go an' ruin it for me, didn'cha?”

“Can' let BigMoney get his free artifact! Naaaah! We shoul' go an' fuck with his fuckin' quest line. Well, who's the bitch now? Huh?” He pauses. “You faggots. You're the bitches now.”

You can still see your party HUD. It looks like everyone was blinded, but the countdown on it was almost up.

“See, I'm tryin' ta have some fun here. Kill a bunch'a NPCs an' get me some phat lootz. Cause when a named NPC comes down from fuckin' heaven an' says, 'Kill all the bitches in this house an' I'll give you a' artifact,' ya generally do it!”

You reach up, and grasp something soft and fluffy. The blindness wears off and you see that you have grasped Fox's tail. Above her are the words BigMoney and <Last Valley>. She stares at you a moment and says in her masculine voice, “Now ya' fucked up!”

That is when you notice that the sky has turned blue, and daylight is breaking. The sun seems tiny until you realize that the orb of light is not the sun. You hear a howl. The sound bounces around inside your skull and it makes you feel sick and dizzy. Your eyes cannot look away from the orb of light. As your eyes adjusts to the intense light, you see a black, skeletal hand holding the flame. You trace the hand to an arm with cracked open flesh and cooked muscle, then to a chest of fur, and a up a neck to a face of some kind a canine. A coyote.

As soon as he said "phat loot" he is worse than Takashi.

So Coyote asked Foxtail to kill off the NPCs? For what purpose? Do they not respawn soon? Do the NPCs have a way to chasing off the Coyote? They must if they live in a house in the desert for so long.

No it won't. If the mansion is a known Lander deathtrap they'll just stop coming to the fucking mansion, because like most real human beans they have self-preservation instincts that tell them to stop sending people to live in the horrible murder mansion in the middle of nowhere for no reason. "Quests" aren't a thing anymore, a convenient murder mystery plot won't just randomly pop back up in this location after enough time has passed for no better reason than there is supposed to be a murder mystery happening.

“Lock her down!” You cry out.

BigMoney does not look impressed.“Shade, teach this bitch a-”

“THUNDERCLAP!” A bolt of lightning strikes the Fox, stunning her in place.

“Pocket sand!” Again the chains wrap around, blinding her (him?).

“Yarr! Quiet on the deck!” Trove yells, smacking the summoner with his flintlock.

You pick up the blind, silenced, and stunned body and fling it towards Coyote.

“Ah damn.” Takeshi comments, “I didn't poison her yet.”

You look at Takeshi and only wonder how he thought his level 30-something poison would actually damage the level 90 summoner.

The Fox then stands up. “Ya' think that shit's gonna stop me!?”

“No!” Canis calls back, “But it'll slow you down!” He then begins to play on his drum. A soft and slow beat.

“Oh, bitch wanna cast come slow shit on me!?” BigMoney yells, “Well, how about I get my zombies to come an'-”

A red thread wraps around the feminine body and then pierces through her chest. Then her skin rips open and the ribcage breaks into pieces. The heart it ripped from its perch, and is pulled along the path of the thread, into the heart of the flame.

“Look who's the bitch now!” You proclaim.

“It is against the samurai code to gloat at the defeat of your enemies.” Takeshi states.

You look directly at Takeshi, hand raised to slap him, when Lilac points out, “Coyote hasn't stopped.”

You look, and the light carrying hound is still moving for you.

“I'll get the horses!” Judicature announces before ducking back into the attic.

You look around, not sure what to do, when you suddenly decide, “Jump and run for it!”

You leap off the roof and the rest of the party follows suit.

Judicature comes bursting through the doors, burning her HP for extra speed. “Jump on!”

As she draws closer, you notice the red threads begin to wrap around her.

“BANZAAAAAAAI!” Takeshi yells, knocking the threads away.

You hop onto the side of the cart as Judicature brings it around. “Go, go, go!” You yell.

The cart races forward, but the red threads once more catch up, wrapping around the wheels of the cart.

“Yarr!” Trove announces, chopping them with his cutlas. “Weigh anchor!”

The cart bursts forward and the group makes it out of the gates.

The night sky soon returns to you, and all the stars are on display.

“The samurai code says to never abandon an ally.” Takeshi states. At this point you didn't even care to hate him. You were just glad everyone got out okay.

“Someone take over.” Judicature says. “I'm going to sleep.”

“Yarr. Why do ye get ta sleep?” Trove asks.

“Because I did all the work.” Judi responds before throwing down a sleeping back and face-planting upon it.

You notice that there is no driver and, fearing for your safety, you grab hold of the reigns. After which, everyone agrees that you should have first watch, so to speak.

You state up into the night sky and think...

I should probably look where I'm going, you think to yourself. You turn your eyes to the road just in time to dodge a pot hole. You veer the cart away from it, but the force of the turn sends everyone in the back tumbling into one another.

Everyone grumbles and mumbles to one another. Judicature arises and sits next to you, palm extended. You look at it for a second and then hand her the reins. She launches the cart into a great speed and she watches the road, unblinking, with weary eyes.

Over time the others go to sleep and soon it is just you and her awake.

“I'm going to go get some sleep now.” You say, beginning to turn for the back.

“No.” She says.

“But-”

“You woke me up, so you are staying awake as long as I am.” She turns to you with rage filled eyes. “Got it?”

“Yes.”

She goes back to looking at the road.

You sigh and lean back, watching the sky overhead.

“We're all made of star stuff.” You comment.

“Carl Sagan.” She replies.

“I was just quoting Niel deGrasse Tyson.”

“Who was inspired by Sagan! It's Sagan he's quoting when he says that!”

You put your hands up, “No need to yell.”

She sighs. “I'm sorry. I'm just tired.”

There is another long silence.

“I bet he destroyed the mansion.” The duelist comments.

“Hm?” You ask.

“Coyote. He probably destroyed the mansion.” She lets out a long sigh, “I should have done that quest more. It is probably one of the most well designed quests in the game.”

“You're just gonna keep rubbing that in, aren't you?”

“What do you mean?”

“I never got to do that quest, and now I probably will never be able to.”

“Sorry.”

“Nah, it's fine.”

There is a pause, and then, “Oh!” Judi says, “So, this thing, right?” She pulls out stick, “This is the wand from the mansion. Not sure if it does anything. When the NPCs used it, it would instantly kill their target, although none of them had more than a hundred HP, so it might just do a flat one-hundred damage.”

“I though you said it was out of charges.”

“Hm? Oh, no. It was one at mister body, one at the chandelier, two at the door, and one for the messenger. That's one plus one plus two plus one. That's five.”

“Okay?”

“The wand is based on the revolver from the movie. A six-shooter. Only six bullets.”

“Wait, I thought it was based on Clue. You know, the board game.”

“No. Well, yes, but no. There's a movie based on the board game, and that is what the quest was based on.”

“How do you make a movie based on Clue?”

“With Tim Curry.”

“That name sounds familiar...”

She sighs quite vocally this time. “I was born a generation too late.”

“What's that supposed to mean?”

“That you and everyone I know do not know anything about the things I like.”

“Look, I'm sure I could like the things you like, but you can't hate me for not seeing them.”

“I... I am just too tired right now to deal with this.”

“Because it's my duty.” She responds.

“And?”

“And nothing else.”

“Really?”

“Really.”

“No other motives?”

“N-”

“None at all?”

“Well...” There is a pause.

“Well!?”

She looks conflicted.

“WELL?”

“If I tell you, you have to tell no one I told you.” She responds.

“Sure.” You say.

“If I do a good deed I can get a rank up in the guild, but we can't tell anyone that's what we're doing or else it doesn't count.”

“Ah. So that's why you did this.”

“Well, I won't tell anybody, but that's a pretty weird way to rank up in your guild.” You say.

“It is the way of the Morning Star.” She responds, “We stand for truth, justice, and the American way!”

“Really?” You ask in a bit of disbelief, “Is that really your clan motto?”

“No. That would just be silly. It's just Truth, Justice, 'Merica.”

The two of you have a chuckle.

“So...” You ask, “How does it even work? Do you just go to your guild leader and say, “I did my good deed for the day. Rank up, plox!”

“No, no. Someone would walk up to the person that the deed was done for and confirm that you did it.”

“So, why don't you get a friend to just make some shit up for you?”

“Well, only one person can report you for a good deed. You do a good deed for them, they can't give you any more commendations.”

“Oh. So how many good deeds do you need to rank up, then?”

“Well, I'm only a scout, so I'd need to do one good deed to become a deputy.”

Silence once again returns.

She begins the conversation again. “I mean, I don't NEED to do a good deed. That's the alternate path for us lowbies. Normally you're supposed to go PKKing, but I don't have the level for it, and good deeds sounded more fun, but...”

“But?”

“But... I don't know. People are kind of terrifying in a way. Always watching you and judging you.”

“Uhuh...”

“I mean, you make a mistake, and that person will know for the rest of their life that you made that mistake. That you screwed up. That it was all your fault.” She pauses, “It's just really intimidating.”

You raise an eyebrow at her, but say nothing.

She glances at you, then looks away. “Spaghetti.” You hear her mumble.

“Did... Did you just say spaghetti?”

Not directly, since points are awarded based on the how much you fuck with your targets, but there is no reason they're mutually exclusive either. It'd be easymodo if the party you were infiltrating was harem-based.
>>
I've got to say Shep; this is by far your strongest session yet. Wish we could have run the haunted house gambit a bit longer since it was nerve racking as hell; but I've enjoyed tonight.
>>
>>31772262
Hell if the party was You, the Harem MC, and 3 Harem Members, you'd net 26 point just for murdering him in front of the rest of the party. Of course then you just outed yourself as an enemy and it's now 3v1, but that's still a massive point bump to kick off the killing spree.
>>

Guys what if we attached wings to the cart?
>>
We really, desperately need to figure out how to make more True Levers. We should have Lilac, the IRL Engineer, help us in this task.
>>
>>31772535
Isn't it grand?
>>
>>31772655
I think Lilac thinks we're a bit crazy, I don't think she'd help.
>>
>>31772510
When I was writing it I was operating under the assumption that points would only be assessed for a successful run, "successful" generally meaning you survive the process, though tactical suicide could possibly be permissible in certain situations as long as it was part of a larger plan that leads to more of them dying afterwards.

I also imagine that if you just repeat the same schtick over and over, the people scoring this thing will start degrading your scores or something since you're not being creative.
>>
>>31772655
according to TinyShepherd's twitter, you can't make more true levers, however, there may be an overskill that allows you to make more.
>>
>>31772705
We'll show her we're not crazy by tying her up and stream of consciousness info dumping to her while we flip a series of levers and beat a chained up foxtail in the corner; stopping every so often to see if she wants a slice.
>>
>>31772723
But suicide does count as creative point bonus too.

So the actual score is higher.
>>
>>31772807
Slice of the foxtail?

That... is morbid but in character.
>>
>>31772723
Also, I don't think it could work because after a few betrayals word would have gotten out about what your guild does and you do have a huge guild name under your own.
>>
>>31772841
Lots of bonus points should be awarded for the target not realizing they were betrayed at all.
>>
>>31772808
Just suicide on it's own isn't that meaningful, since you'd just respawn and they'd call you up and ask what the fuck you were smoking.

Now if you spent weeks on an elaborate act laying down hints that you were actually a Lander-turned-Adventurer and thus not able to respawn, and also engineered a situation where your suicide wouldn't just seem completely random, THEN it'd start netting some serious points.

>>31772841
I don't think there is technically anything stopping people from leaving and rejoining a guild whenever they feel like it, as long as they're willing to do the paperwork.

“You talkin' shit about spaghetti?” You ask in your most over the top angry voice.

“No! No, no, no, no!” She repeats taking her eyes off the road to wave her hands.

You chuckle and say, “I'm only kidding.”

“Oh.” She responds. She looks back on the road. “I... I should probably just stop talking, shouldn't I”

You look in your inventory. The last True Lever? Nah, that's too important. You pull a False Lever out of your inventory and hand it to her. “You see this?”

She glances down at the lever, then back to the road. “Yeah?”

“When when the databasing happened, and everyone was freaking out, I was off messing with levers. I pretty much made a plane using only metal bars, a chair, and a roll of cloth. You know what happened?”

She shakes her head.

“I crashed into the ground! And then there was this elf there named Symbology. You know what she thought?”

“That you were stupid?”

“Exactly!” You proclaim, “And do you how that made me feel?”

“Like you wanted to dig a hole into the ground and die?”

You did actually feel that way at the time, but you were trying to make a point, damn it! “No! I didn't give a shit! You know why?”

“No...?”

>>
>>31772931
“Because what is her thinking I'm an idiot going to do? Chances are, she's already forgotten all about me, and that's the reality of the situation. Can you even remember the face of the last person you saw fall on their face? I'm sure I've seen a dozen people in my lifetime do something absolutely stupid, and I can't even remember any of them.” You nod internally to your own point. Damn you were good at this.

“I think I understand...” She says, “When I do mess up, no one will even remember me.” She pauses, “Unless I mess up so bad that they can't help but remember me!”

You lean back and sigh. Perhaps this was an impossible task for you.

“But...” She goes on, “I guess that means I just have to not be horrible. That's easy, right?”

“Super easy.” You respond.

You look back up to the sky. “How much longer till we reach Ekechi?”

“Minutes at this point, I think.”

“Real minutes or fake minutes.”

“Which one is which?”

“Real life minutes or game minutes?”

“Game minutes.”

“How can you tell?”

“Because I can see it.”

You look back down and see a sea of lights in the distance. A long strip of land with massive walls containing the bright colors of the city.

“Huh.” You say, “How'd I miss that?”

“It hides behind hills and dunes, so at some angles you can't see it.”

You nod your head, “Ah. Of course.”

The cart drives closer to the city and notice something in the distance. A tree, which is taking bits and pieces of damage. A fire of tiny 1s bathe the tree.

“The hell is that?” You ask.

“We should find out.” Judicature responds.

The horses sprint toward the tree and as you draw near you hear the sound of choking. Your little blobs of light dance closer and you see, dangling down from the tree, people hanged by a noose. 1s float up from their heads. The bodies twitch and make horrid gurgling sounds. Each of them wears a sign. PKer seems to be written on most.

>>
>>31773384

That, or they'll somehow convince themselves you're some kind of malevolent dark god who delights only in their suffering, and treat their interactions with you as such, leading to rampant inaction as they convince themselves that all possible choices will lead to instant grisly death, TPK, and eternal damnation.

>>
>>31773419
>malevolent dark god who delights only in their suffering

Suffering? No. I prefer catharsis.

But I doubt I'd have the skill to pull it off, so I'm sure everything will be fine.
>>
>>31773616
Your writing is solid, so you probably could pull it off if you really wanted to.

Please don't, though. This quest is at it's best when we're being socially retarded, crazy, or our party members are doing so.

Paranoia would kill the fun and take it dark places.
>>
>>31773616
Just remember:

A person is smart.

People are stupid.

Thus, the playerbase of any given quest (which is a mass of anonymous people of indeterminate and constantly fluctuating size and composition) has the potential to be INCREDIBLY stupid, to the point where they may very well start believing something if you say it enough times no matter how ridiculous it is. Or they might not, but only when you actually wanted them to. Which make downward paranoia spirals pretty easy to start and much more difficult to stop.

Our current level of joking paranoia is nice though.

Well, I'll make it easy for you.

Everything in a spoiler is a lie.

The above statement is a lie.

But in all seriousness, don't pay attention to what I have to say. Pay attention to what happens in the story, everything outside of that are just lies and mistruths.

>>
>>31773823
It being a guy/girl was pretty instructive in how gender identity works in the Database, which I thought was nice.

I still don't get how it managed all of the party's different voices, though.
>>
>>31773864
Probably a tracker skill or something.
Also he'll soon fill into his body anyway
>>
I'm willing to bet that the next time we meet them (and I bet we will) they'll either have forgotten the whole thing and just be a lewd undead loving summoner with a really dark and twisted side... ooooor he'll be a constant thorn in our side.
Also the house questgiver told him to kill us... but we have no idea how he got to the middle of nowhere... also Coyote torally killed the hell out of the NPC.
>>
>>31773864
Could be a skill of the Tracker subclass, I'm sure that would cover birdcalls and stuff like that so at high ranks it might cover mimicking humans too. If not that, he might have accidentally stumbled onto a minor Overskill.
>>
>>31773815
>Wednesday
Yes. Wednesday at 6:30 PM.

Then after that, possible Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday schedule. I have not decided yet.

>>31773823
Yeah, but at the same time I've been told to keep the plot moving, so I got nervous when I looked at the clock and it looked like the entire thread would take place in the mansion.

As for the guy, someone had mentioned that perhaps one of the party members was a man with a voice modifier, so I began wondering what it would be like if they still had control over it. My justification was that, from the database's perspective, they had the magical ability to change their voice at will, so they might retain that ability after the databasing.
>>
>>31773948
>no idea how he got to the middle of nowhere
This is a good point. The fact of the matter is that the only way he could have gotten there before you is if he had somehow passed you on the road, which he didn't. Unless he fairy ringed over there, but no one can track their pattern anymore, right?
>>
>>31773957
An entire thread of murder mansion shenanigans wouldn't have been bad, the plot has been moving along at a speedy clip so far, it can afford to slow down as long is there is something interesting happening that deserves the attention. What you've really got to watch out for is accidentally stumbling into multiple threads of WORDS WORDS WORDS WORDS that exist only for the sake of WORDS, which I see no danger of given your writing style.
>>
>>31774038
Might have come from the opposite direction, I mean the roads aren't 1-way. If I had to guess at why he was out here in my headcanon, I'd say he probably fled the PK Purge that quite evidently went down in Ekechi/
>>
>>31773957
Interesting.

As for staying in a place too long; this is rarely an issue as long as things are happening and you're not just twiddling your thumbs. Information should always be being gained, or the plot should be moving forward, or fun should be being had.

Reading the quest guide should give you some good pointers on plot progression, but you're a LOT better than you where the first few. Keep it up!
>>
>>31774038
A level 90 could very conceivably have a mount or ability that would allow them to travel much faster than us.

I mean, Shirou pulled his flying mount out the second he had to travel quickly, right?

>>31773957
I think if it's kept interesting, murder mansion stuff wouldn't have been bad. But you'll have to accept that you can't please everyone. Some may want the story to be faster, some not. Write what you want to.
>>
>>31774096
>Might have come from the opposite direction
You win this day, logical thinker.
>>
>>31774124
>I mean, Shirou pulled his flying mount out the second he had to travel quickly, right?
Those whistles are more or less artifacts that the group got for being the first to beat a certain raid/event. They are the only people in the world that have those, if I am not mistaken. It's why they wait till they are far away from town to use them; just showing people their griffins is enough to cause a commotion.
>>
>>31774124
>Shirou pulled his flying mount out the second he had to travel quickly, right?
Yes, although those things were super rare even amongst max-level players, since as I recall they were a reward for a top-tier ultra hard raid boss from a previous expansion that was no longer available or something like that.
>>
>>31774230
True, but there's nothing saying that she doesn't have another fairly quick mode of transport. Maybe something less flashy than a flying griffin.
>>
>>31774308
+5 points for you.
>>
>>31774671
Now are these on the same scale as the murderpoints, or are these different points?
>>
Good quest tonight Shep; if you're so inclined, please feel free to use any of the mock up characters in the second set of cards if you want.
