“Understood, Tohma, please watch my back!” Ein doesn’t have to say that, while your best friend reaches to the center of the lab to pull out the strongest sword, you concentrate and start feeling the world around you.

Before her was the strongest of all swords, at least she felt this. In all the memories she inherited from her bloodline, she has never felt something like this.

This sword is different, special… no, alien. Not like the armed devices the Belkans use, not like the staffs the Mid-Childians use… it feel older, more ancient.

Did the TSAB really make this thing? Einhard Stratos feel curious about the weapon before her, but that has to wait. Overcoming her curiosity, she steps to take the sword… and thus draws the sword of promised victory: Caliburn!

A golden warmth washes her hands, as she connects with the strongest sword of the old era...

You don’t have time to waste, while Ein takes the sword you concentrate… and feel the air around you. The Eclipse Particles around you feel heavy, stale and tense, like someone was trying to use them already.

You still can’t get used to seeing Lily this serious when she is reacted with you, but her warning sends several alerts running through your mind, as you continue pushing against the Jamming to find the enemy.

With Lily’s help you manage to get a signal… no several signals, and in that moment, several hands burst through the floor as several monsters entered the lab!

Their dark fur and bone like masks are already familiar to your, these the Stalkers, an assassin infected that can is specialized in ambushes. Furthermore it looks like someone left them here to safeguard the sword thing.

One of the monsters moves to attack Ein, but you quickly shoot it away from your partner, as you land behind her. Back to back, you two are surrounded by a dozen of ape-like monsters.

“Ein, are you alright?” While the infected circle around you two, you start thinking your next move. You two could fight them here, but maybe that would be a waste of time.

“Yes, but it appears we have received some unwanted arrivals. While I wouldn’t mind fighting them, we already have the sword, there is no need to stay here.” That’s certainly an option, but if you leave these punks here, you feel they will come back to hunt you later.

Your eyes meet’s Ein, as your best and truest friend instantly understands you. Before those monsters have a chance to snare your team, you two dash towards the main door of the lab at top speed!

Being faster than Ein, you aim your gunblade behind you, as you spray several the enemies behind you with your Silver Barrets. The swift projectiles violently stop your pursuers, but sadly now all of them.

Just as the two of you were steps away from the door, one of the beasts tackled Ein from the side, pinning her down to the color.

Before you could turn back, your friend freed frees one the arm that holds the holy sword and shouts, “Tohma, do not hesitate, take the sword and run!” Yeah, that’s not a bad idea, if you run with the sword you feel the infected will chase after you and the black book.

Gathering all her strength, Einhard awkwardly lobs the holy sword at you. The un-aerodynamic object somehow makes a small arc in the air towards you.

In the few seconds the weapon arcs in the air, you feel you can catch it, but sadly one of the infected intercepts the thing, and catches it with its mouth.
The black furry ape monster lands on the floor with the 5th Generation Device, moving to hide behind his ten brothers.

Right now Ein is pinned, and while you are just before the door and can escape, the Holy Sword is your top priority. While fighting is always an option, you don’t want to waste time on this, plus fighting these numbers in such a close quarter is not advantageous.

You can try to escape, if they behave like the other infected they should be drawn to the Black Grimoire you have with you, but if your Silver Cross fails to draw their attention, they might kill Ein.

Carefully you take aim at the monster that has Ein trapped and shoot, “Silver Barret!” The simple particle bullet accelerates at furious speeds, and accurately strikes its target.

The Stalker Infected is stunned for a mere second, but that opening is enough for your friend to strike! With the techniques she inherited through her ancient and noble blood, Einhard quickly punches the ape square in the chin, followed by a quick kick in the chest!

Using all her leg strength, Ein sends the ape flying into the air, and frees herself.

But you can’t waste too much time paying attention to Ein, after you confirm she is safe, you move to your top priority: the sword! Ignoring everything else, you run straight to the infected that has the Excalibur Prototype.

The value of this sword is imaginable, and your bonus paycheck depends on it! So like a rushing rhino, you trample over everything in your way! You don’t care if those infected try to stop you, you simple tackle them away or punch them out of your way, and you care less about the equipment here, so you simple slice it apart with your flaming gunblade!!

In an instant you cross to the other side of the lab, leaving a trail of fire and downed monsters, and now stand before your target! The Stalker beast tries to run away, tries being the keyword here, because you shift before it can escape you, and attack him before the infected could react.

You don’t care he might have been a human right now, you simple punch the infected with everything you have and you follow it up with a strike to the chest with your armored knee!

“And stay down you jerk!”

The Stalker falls down instantly, and you quickly recover the sword and analyze the situation.

While you feel oddly satisfied with the idea of fighting these freaks, you need to concentrate on protecting the sword. Little over a half of them remain, but you aren’t too keen on the idea of having to fight them while protecting your precious cargo.

Right now you and Ein are in the center of the room, while the Stalker-type Infected are making a wall between you two and the exit.

In the ceilings you think you see something move, it looks like there is a strange reflection there... like an image is being distorted... but you don't know what that could be.

“Ein, use this thing, if Miss. Yagami complains I will make her understand.” You had Ein the Excalibur. Your friends currently doesn’t have a way to use her magic against an EC Driver, whose power exists to kill spells.

So even if Ein is not that good with her sword that is better than leaving her to fight alone against a Driver… and you feel a Driver is nearby.

“Thanks, I will try to use it as best as I can, Tohma.” Ein swings the sword once… and you see how her green mana flows into the weapon and transforms into a golden light.

Good, now she should be able to handle herself, but that leaves you with the distortion.

Whatever is in the ceiling, you don’t feel it’s friendly. You try to sense what that thing is, but with so many monsters here the EC particles in the area are too erratic for you to read correctly!

“Wryyy!” It looks like your probing draws attention of that thing, because the distortion clears, showing another dozen of Stalker infected that had been invisible moments ago.

Silently, the dozen of enemies jumps at you, their sharp claws seeking to kill you and Ein. But before they fall, in the air, you aim at them! “Roar, Silver Stars!!”

The multitudes of silver bullets shot from your gunblade! Each bullet stops one of the falling beasts in the air, moving them away from you!

But that’s not all! Ein takes the opportunity and ignites her new sword, “Then also roar, Caliburn!” Her golden sword shines with an equally golden light, as with one swing Ein creates a wave of destructive light!

Her strike slices three of the monsters in half, and burns four others to death. This destructive power scares the rest of the new infected away from you two, giving you some room to breathe.

The mana Ein used in that attack is more than what you can produce in a single day, you doubt she can keep using that thing.

Panting and somewhat drained, Ein raises the sword again, ready to fight. “Tohma, we can’t waste time, let’s leave this place!”

You tensed your body as you mentally prepared your next move. Ein needed a few moments to recharge her energies after using that sword, so you should go all out and open her a way!

Or rather you try to do that!

The moment you move to intercept the Stalker infected, a hail of gunfire rains down on you and the infected!

Before the attack impacts you, you quickly shift away from the line of fire, but the monsters weren’t as lucky. As you land besides Ein, you can hear the DAKADKAKDAKDA of heavy railgunfire make mincemeat of the twelve infected.

In mere seconds the enemies that were stopping your advance had been stopped! Quickly you turn around to seek the source of the gunfire, and you see the tip of a rail gun poking outside one of the many cylinders that covered the walls of the lab!

“Wait Tohma, don’t stop!” Before you knew it, Ein moves to stand before you, as she swings her sword upwards!

With a heavy strike, Ein manages to repel a descending war hammer that sought to break you in two! Quickly you move to counterattack your assailant, but a hail of gunfire that comes from another angle stops you.

The man with the hammer lands near a wall over a cylinder, as other similar men land near him. They all are wearing the same get up, a weird purple armor with a stupid helmet, but more importantly they are using Anti-Eclipse Weapons.

The same weapons the TSAB was developing in this LAB, the weapons the White Devil used to fight you barely a day ago?

“ECLIPSE ECLIPSE ECLIPSE ECLIPSE!” The three men chant together, their voices were all identical and carried a certain mechanical tone that sent chills down your back, “DETECTED! TARGET SET: SILBERKREUZ! ALL RAPTOR UNITS MOVE TO EX-EXTERMINATE THE TARGET!” The two men on the sides aim their railguns at you, as the center man with the hammer appears to be preparing to strike you with that massive weapon.

Why must everyone you meet want to kill you, is it too much to ask for people to want to be nice to you and talk.

>Tohma, I know who these guys are. They were in the files we just go. They are called RAPTORS, they are prototype androids that the TSAB is developing here to help solve their manpower issues. They were all developed to use the AEC equipment… Tohma, these things are androids made to kill you!

So these Raptors are machines made to kill mage killers, Gee… that sounds awfully familiar.

You know that, but what can you do? While Ein is besides you, and right now you will have to fight the three RAPTOR units that want to kill you. These guys are not magicians, that means that you can't delink their attacks... so you will have to do this the old way.

Plus red lights start to shine in the countless tanks that fill the room that probably means more of these things will wake up and attack you.

You raise your sword warningly, as you half turn to see Ein behind you. While she was raising her sword bravely, you feel she still needs a few moments to get her bearings back.

“Lily, what do you know about these things, any weaknesses we can use?” The two RAPTORS to the side break away each dashing to one of your sides!

>Tohma, these things are robots. They don’t feel pain and their bodies have strength that is comparable to 10 times a normal human… a bit stronger than the average mage who uses strengthening magic, and they can resist extreme temperatures, so Ice and Fire are not especially effective.

As you hear Lily’s explanation, you warningly see as the two robots take aim at you from opposite sides of the room, trapping you in the middle with the Hammer-RAPTOR in the middle!

>Tohma, these things operate based on a hivemind, there is only one computer that controls all the Raptors. While each one of them has a separate VI, there is a central intelligence that connects all of them, so each one can share information with each other and can learn from the errors of other machines and prepare accordingly.

With no mercy, the two machines open fire at you, the railgunfire seeking to tear you apart! “Come Protector!” Using the black book that usually floats behind you, you use its pages to create two protective walls on each side of you! As the two railguns try to break your barrier, the hammer machine appears behind you, ready to break your head in two.

There is nothing you can really do but block with your sword, if you try to move you will open Ein and You to the rain of fire from the two remaining machines!

But you aren’t alone!, With a quick moment, Ein appears before you, and punches the Hammer robot away!

“Don’t just try to protect me, Tohma, I too will protect you!” Ein, stands before you as she readies a stance to continue to fight. The holy sword you two recovered hands behind her on a sheath she made. “So let’s beat these machines and find out why they want to attack us!”

The longer you more RAPTORs will join the fight. Using the Silver Cross to hack something is totally different from working with Steed. The first difference is that Lily is there with you, and having her with you makes you feel more comfortable with things. Sadly, the black grimoire is not totally compatible with these systems but you somehow manage to interface with the RAPTOR NETWORK…

While her attack connects, it’s not enough to wear down the resistant body of the Raptor, and all she does is moderate damage to the frame!

But you don’t care about it, because you reached the 5th machine, one that has a railgun and attempted hack it! You use the same trick you used last time to connect with the NETWORK, but again, the Hacker stops you from attacking the network!

You sit near the broken machine, not to hear it, but to try to access the RAPTOR NETWORK one last time. Using the book as a terminal, you and Lily access try to access the AI that controls all these machines and try to liberate these machines from this madman.

But sadly you fail, no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, you can do anything. You feel almost like crying at failing so much in doing this… and amidst your rage and frustration, you feel someone besides you, or rather something.

“KEKEKEE, Zero-boy!” Before can delink from your failed hack attempt, the Raptor’s head rises until its right besides yours, using its remaining limb to stand.
Having lost its helmet from Ein’s attack, you have to admit that this machine looks oddly too human. Using its cold and unhuman, synthetic tongue, the RAPTOR 01 licks your face. “KEKKEKE, ZERO KUN, do you know what this taste is? This taste is of failure! Of Failure and Idiocy, Zero Boy, your failure! KEKEKEKEKEEE!”

You suddenly hear the sound of a rifle, and in one fluid motion, you use your left hand to crush the head of the stupid doll while using the right to shield yourself with this body from a surprise attack!

Even though a single round has enough force to blow a man in two, the broken torso of the android is tough enough to stop the bullet from a Strike Cannon! Without wasting time, you stand up, throwing the broken mandoll to a wall while raising your gunblade!

Standing inside another of the tubes is one last activated raptor, holding a railgun with a barrel still smoking from having fired! “KEKEKEKEKE Zero-boy, I bet you never expected me to have a spare doll for you! KEKEKEKE, you should learn to never underestimate your enemy, IDIOT!!!! FAILURE KEKEKEKEE, now I will forcibly wake up all these machines and kill you with them! KEKEKEKEE!” The Raptor exists its container, as it continues to walk towards you, aiming the railgun at you!

“Well, let’s have our fun, KEKEKEE!” The three machines were ready to shoot you, but before you can react in any way…

A red wind howls!

A single blade bursts from the floor of the lab, slicing it to pieces, and in a single red flash it slices the three RAPTORS. Even though they were weapons meant to contest with EC Drivers, they were nothing compared to the fury of this crimson storm!

“To think that mere trash like this one, that doesn’t even have a soul thinks it can take on the Eclipse… don’t make me laugh!” As the red magical energy fades, you see a familiar figure.

Even though its form has changed a bit, you can still recognize it, its sharp white armor, the black blade that is pointing at you, and those blue eyes that hate your very existence.

It’s all very familiar.

What stands before you is a machine made to destroy the Eclipse Virus and all it has touched, especially EC Drivers like you. He is a member of the HOLMCROSS, part of was once an advanced race of sentiment machines that were destroyed by the Eclipse Virus.

His name is Ricardo, the Arcana Series Unit Number 1 also known as Ricardo JOKER, but you know him by another name, a name you know very well from your experiences a week ago.

You know him as the White Machine.
