I'm really disappointed in the lack of Vacuum Waves in the majority of the suggestions. Kurojo's Vacuum Wave was super effective against Narkage (no I'm not talking about the Force Palm finisher, his early Vacuum Wave specifically got a named Super Effective bonus), so it should be our attack of choice when Narga is on the ground, switching either to Water Gun or Icicles when it's airborne (ice's type effectiveness was ambiguous, there wasn't a penalty, but I don't remember if prof does Not Very Effectives in the tally, or just includes it in the damage, where it was noted the icicles couldn't penetrate its steel underarmor). Water is practically guaranteed neutral damage though, and freezing water guns around it's wings in flight with Icy Wind sounds appealing.

You step out from the ship's cabin to feel the roll of the waves rocking the vessel as it's carried along speedily by the ocean's road. The sun shines down harshly, passing over your glistening white fur to deliver the salted heat of a tropical day upon the ocean.

The captain of the captain of this vessel has given you free passage as he's the one that brought the notice of the monster. It's no hunting boat, instead a smaller vessel with enough room for a small crew and passengers. Oiled nets and fishing tackles lend you to believe that this vessel is originally used for catching monsters just off coastlines. Not much a seaworthy vessel yet the sails keep on strong as it speeds along with a tailwind along the current. You should be at the hunting destination in no time flat.

Kurojo comes up on deck, talking with Marine, helping her practice Raguna common. The captain and his small crew have wary looks, a bit abashed by the group that they've gotten.
It's likelu that they expected an all Kahkori hunting party to take on their request. Instead, they get a Smolder, and Araraki, a Kahkori, a white smolder, and a thing they've never seen before.

Apprehension boils in their hearts. You decide it'd be a good idea to get some training done to ease their spirits...

You begin with a short meditation, tapping into the power of aura and sparring with Kurojo and Marine while the Araraki watchs from the mast, her tail curled around the wood and looking on with a languished sadness.

You feel yourself get better, and faster at anticipating blows. Marine's quick to keeping up, though it becomes obvious that she favors her burned right hand, using only the shell to block while returning blows with her left and feet. Her strikes are soft, if only so that she doesn't break you or Jojo like a twig.

After that hand to hand training, you break away to practice your water gun and icy wind, surprising the sailors by firing water instead of the expected fire, and sending out bolts of ice, aiming for careless seabirds flying too close to the ship.

The heat of the sun drives you to reinforce your chill and the distance of the birds forces your aim steadier.

The Araraki sleeps, her tail wrapped around the mast, unmoving as appears almost to stand upon the mast.

You, Kurojo, and Marine descend into the ship, getting some sleep for the big day.

Our current Armor is Cloth like

None of our armor will be Stiff. So it's better to think of it in terms of Leather Armor than Metal Armor.

The Steel would protect us just fine as a beanie, really the only way to do it. Though it may need some sort of straps or fasteners to stay on our head underwater or in complex maneuvers.

All vision is Light coming in. The very basis of blocking Flash (Blocking light coming) block our Vision (which is light coming in.

If the curtains were thin enough to see through then they wouldn't protect us from the Flash.

His words leave you wanting. Instead of you easing his worries, he's become more concerned for you. How dangerous is this monster, really?


The ship comes into port, morning of the next day. For the first time on the trip, Nala comes up above deck, clad in her green scaled armor, her colossal blade affixed upon her back, mismatching her lean and muscular form.

A visor is set down, and she exhales fire through an opening for her feral snout. “May I never get sea legs.” She gripes, coming descending down the plank, “Accursed ship and sea.” Without Akabaron's supervision it seems that her temper reaches the surface, boiling within her like an electric kettle ready to blow.
“After we kill this thing, we're staying in the village for some time. I wouldn't be able to stand another trip.”

You don't bother to argue, it'll just turn her wrath upon you.

“Aye Miss Nala!” Marine's figured out some words, though it seems that she can at least understand Raguna better.

The Araraki slides off the ship quietly and Jojo taps the hilt of his sword for good luck.

The island is almost familiar. Large towering trees looming overhead, the calls of many monsters echoing through the trees, a call back to old days of the world that you'd only thought to experience in the Veridian Wood.

Your landing is a dock not far from the village, an obvious explanation as to why they haven't been starved, at least, so long as it's not attacking the village itself.

“A campsite?” You ask, following after the Smolder as she hurries off, her burdened body still lithe and fluid upon the sands.

“Yes.. In a location that offers a hunt, they are required to set up guild-sanctioned campsites near enough to several monster's territories. There, we can eat, sleep, and carry out our business as hunters without directly involving the village or causing collateral damages.”

“Huh.” Is all you really have to say to that. It's impressive though, really. If the dome could do something like that, then they wouldn't necessarily have to send Rangers on long term away missions. “You said we can eat there?”

“Villagers supply some food.”

“Ah.” And that's why it can't happen. Next to no friendly long-term settlements. They'd fall into disrepair if not lived in, wouldn't they?

Passing by the village upon a hidden away trail, you follow a native guide. From here you can see the gleamings of their society through the wood until you're too deep within the wood to see. At least it's safe during the day...

The camp is sparse, half buried and hidden away by camouflaged tarps. It's cool inside, and the clean up of a few nesting bugs is simple.

You see a bed, uncover buried supply of various medicines and other poultices, as well as dried food buried yet deeper in a chest.

The Araraki looks around a moment before heading outside, she's been extremely quiet lately.

Stepping out of the dug out campsite, you find the Araraki slinking about looking at the trees given the time of peace. For now there's no pressing hunt demanding your attention right this second and this neck of the woods is almost like the eye of the storm when faced with the ferocious cycle of life taking place in far off distances of this place.

The Araraki seems to admire the woods, creeping up alongside the colossal trees of Kahkori lands and laying her hands upon them.

“Hey there. What're y' doin?” You call out, disrupting her focus, bidding her to look back.

“We speak. Wood know secrets. Whisper to Green Seers.” Finding her answer satisfactory, she returns her attentions to her communion. You can sense her energy flowing into the tree, connecting with the natural world around the two of you.

Sitting upon a comfortable-enough rock, you draw your legs in and watch, catching some sunlight filtering down in green, speckling the forest floor from the canopy. “I thought yer people hailed from a desert. Talk to cacti there?” You'd only ever seen cacti in Celadon Greenhouses. You were shown them for your environment training.

“No.” She shakes her head with dismissal, “Little life away from oasis. We speak to greens there. These old. New friends.”

You raise an eyebrow, “Ah, think I missed somethin' here. You say that you speak with th' trees? Plants?”

The Araraki confirms it.

“And What do they say? Somethin' like, 'I'm thirsty, water me.' Or, help a bug is eat'n me from the inside?”

She doesn't respond for a moment, “Narga-Kage. It come when sun set. Traps?”

That's an idea. We should see about getting lots of water stored around the battlefield. Moisten things down before the fight.

It will make it a LOT easier to freeze the horror-cat to things.

As you head back into the dugout to report your finding to Nala, you see her filling her stomach with the dried meat, tearing off salted hunks as she tinkers with some kind of little device. If your training's taught you anything, it's that it definitely looks like some kind of bomb set to go off with a trigger.

She seems busy and you don't want to accidentally set it off, so you side up with Kurojo as he runs a whetstone along his blade, sitting on the edge of a bed large enough for many even if it's not the most comfortable thing.
Sitting next to him, you catch his eyes flicker over to you, and you smile. “I've heard stories about it since my youth... Ceru. You know that not all Khakori have the wave? I was born into a family that had the blessing... But when you have it all your life and suddenly you can't see with it. It's terrifying. You know what I mean?”

“I think I have an idea. It's like losing your eyes, huh?” You keep an even temper and scoot a little closer beside him, a perpetual little grin on your face.

“I'll be blind fighting it. We'll all be blind.” The metronome of hos whetstone is soothing against the blade.
“Stories say that Narga-Kages are bigger and even faster. Chasing after one is like pursuing your own shadow. You'll never catch it, and it'll always be close to you.” He finishes a side of his sterling blade and sets upon the other, the odd glimmer is brighter than any steel. It'll be what you have to watch for to avoid its blades.

You shudder as you dimly recall when your arm was cut off by the thing. Everything went black after that... And now Kurojo uses one of those very blades.

“Are you going to be okay? Can you fight it?” You lean a bit closer to him, looking him in the eyes, catching his gaze reflecting yours as your visions meet.

For a moment, you feel like he wants to say something. And you get a feeling of what you'd like to hear. It's like a static electricity that pulls the two of you closer... Until you force yourself to look away.

You feel him turn, sharpening his blade furiously to push back that moment the two of you shared, “I'll be fine, just take care of yourself, okay?”

“I should be saying that to you...”

Nala looks like she's about finished with her device, looking over it now for any imperfections or fault in its features.

It sounds like Marine's doing something outside. She's... moving something.

You head outside, searching for the source of a subtle rumbling. You find Marine hoisting up rock, from the ground, tearing them out and stacking them up, looking on with curiosity at the bugs that dig away into the dirt, before resuming her little bit of exercise.

“Um, Marine? What are you doing?” You sneak up behind your friend, startling her a bit as she hoists a rock larger than herself overhead.

“Ah, eh, ummm. Hey Ceru.” She drops the stone to the side, looking back at her work. “Uh, I heard from the Araraki that the target scopes out this place first. Thought I'd make us some kind of a hideyhole or at least have a rock set up to smash it with or something...” She puts a dirty thumb in her mouth to bite away the apprehension some.
“Sorry I don't really know what to prepare for. I wasn't really awake to fight one of these things before.”

You put a hand on Marine's shoulder, feeling the hard scale of her armor and pull her into a gentle hug. “It's okay Marine.” You say as she lets herself be hugged. Marine really does smell like a fish though... Heh.
Pulling away, you smile at her for reassurance, “Just watch out for the silver blade and you'll be fine. Punch it right in the schnoz!”

Marine pumps a fist, blowing hot air out of her nostrils, “Yeah, I'll hit it right in the schnoz!”

With that, there doesn't seem to be anything left to do but speak with Nala and prepare for the night.

As you walk back to the dugout, you notice a colossal shadow upon the ground, as though a cloud passed overhead.

You look up however, and you don't see anything. The sun streams through the canopy just the same as before. Gentle breezes rocking the leaves, and from the breaches in the forest cover, you can see that there's not a cloud in the sky nor a monster butting in on your business.
