You are Sireyi Valyenya, formerly of House Valyenya is a Paladin of Velya, the only one currently serving Velya, and the first to be called in many years.
18 years old, you have just finished your Paladin training.

You are on a quest to retrieve the Horn of Alzurad: a legendary artefact that can call dead heroes back to fight for the holder of the Horn.

After staying up late to tell Isla about your past, the two of you fell asleep in the same bed, and were found by Jianxi and Matthias the next morning.

After both you and Isla get dressed, avoiding each others gaze for some reason, you make your way downstairs to meet Jianxi and Matthias at breakfast. Jianxi still looks smug. As you eat, you decide what you will do today.

What are you going to do first?
Please pick only 1 option. You will get a chance to do the other stuff later, this is just picking what you will do first.

>Talk to Isla in private, clear up any misunderstandings.
>Talk to entire party at once, clear up misunderstandings
>Take Isla shopping for eyeglasses
>Go to the Church of Velya, try to see the High Priestess again
>Go see the Harbourmaster
>Try to find Trader Jisan, the smuggler
>Other (write-in)

As we get going, XP. This will be handled as the quest goes on, voting will continue until a clear consensus appears.

XP will be awarded, and spent, on each character separately. Followers get less general XP than the main character.

Sireyi
General XP 5 (can be spent upon anything)
- Quest Completion (2)
- Discover Jianxi backstory (1)
- Discover Isla backstory (1)
- Approach the Shrine of Kilran (1)

Paladin XP 7 (you can only spend this upon paladin powers, weapon skills and Divine Energy)
- You redeemed 1 evil person (3)
- You ended combats peacefully, as soon as it was possible (4)
- You used no paladin powers in combat (0) – because demon combat didn’t happen

Angel XP 4 (you can only spend this upon angel powers and Divine Energy)
- You didn’t kill any mortals outside of combat (4)
- You didn’t defeat any demons (0) – because demon combat didn’t happen

[Metagame Post]
Commentary at the end of the previous Quest indicates some players feel as though Isla romance is being forced on the players, comparisons were made to the protagonist of Halfling Quest having a drunken one-night stand.

I’d like to say I’d planned this, but in the end it’s just worked out this way. The Romance is forced: Isla is forcing it because she hero worships you and believes she is in love with you.

As QM I’m not trying to railroad you into lesbians, I’m just playing the characters as I believe that would act, whilst giving you the voting options.

A question about one of the Paladin Powers

There is a secondary benefit associated with Blessed Health: The ability to choose to become pregnant or not and, at higher levels, accelerate or suspend pregnancies. How quickly can pregnancies be accelerated with this power?
And just so you know, op: I dare to enter this magical realm.
>>
>>33204073
>You didn’t kill any mortals outside of combat
Now that's easy experience to get.
>comments regarding forced romance
As long as players are still controlling the MC in these issues, everything else is ok. What gets players scared is that other QMs have repeatedly had trouble maintaining that difference. People will keep fearing common QM mistakes, this doesn't mean what you are doing is wrong. It just means that there are signs of the possibility of future mistakes. Keep those comments in mind, but don't over-react.

They are similar to sting-rays stabbing behind them as soon as a shadow falls on them out of fear that it might be cast by a shark. It's more likely that it's just a random shadow from something else, but it pays of to make sure.

Spend 2 XP to rais it to 12 so we get another bonus point. Stat's are more versatile than skills. Other than that, I agree.

You should try to get your twitter added to the directory!
>Take Isla shopping for eyeglasses
>>
>>33204203
This, pretty much.
Also, since we seemed to get a lot of new participants last session, you should probably reiterate your stance on magical realm and lewds.
Namely the fact that you said you wouldn't write anything more sexual than light petting.

>>33204231
Yeah, but we've only used our agility bonus once or twice.

>>33204265
You mean the one they link to at the beginning of each QTG?
Then no, no he should not.
>>
>>33204073
I don't actually think it's comparable to HQ at all - Halfling Quest's situation only came up as a discussion of Female MCs who've had sex with dudes recently, and spun off from there. I'm not sure anyone thought the situations are comparable, which they won't be as long as you don't remove agency by making the results of a given voting option incredibly unclear. After all, the issue of HQ was that the option 'show up bard with your amazing musical talents' led straight into 'fuck bard' with no option to bail out.
>>
>>33204285
I don't have twitter so the directory is the only way for me to see thread announcements. So yes, he should.
>>
>>33204285
>Yeah, but we've only used our agility bonus once or twice.
Fine. Also I just noticed that Divine Warrior 2 (which we should get at one point in the future) will give use an uneven number of stat bonuses, so my reason for raising it won't apply for very long.
>>
>>33204206

So for XP

>Angel Sight -5 Angel XP
>Healing 2 -7 Paladin XP -3 Gen. XP

Appears to be winning with a possible split between

>Negotiator 2 -2 Gen. XP
or
>Raise Agility by 1

I'll leave it open to voting for a bit and if it's a tie, dice as normal.

And for plot, the most popular option appears to be honest discussion then and there

Ditto leaving it open for a few minutes.
>>
>>33204310
Get twitter then, it takes about five seconds.
Hell, he announces the threads 12 hours in advance, you could just favorite his twitter page and check on it once in a while.
He also runs every weekend at about the same times, I knew he would be running today without even checking the twitter.
>>
>>33204310
You can look at someone's twitter without an account.
>>33204322
Negotiator, please.
>>
>>33204073
The Isla thing isn't remotely comparable to Halfling Quest, I don't think even the people against an Isla romance would claim that. I guess you scared them a little with the bed thing but reasonable anons weren't really worried. I quite like her myself.
>>
Also I think QTG thinks I'm an idiot due some stupid shit I did in the first quest, I doubt they'd add my twitter if I asked.
>>
>>33204325
>You can look at someone's twitter without an account.
Yeah but that requires either bookmarking it or keeping a tab open, and both my bookmarks and tabs are way too full for that. It's why the directory is nice, so I don't have to have 20+ bookmarks of QM twitters (or rather, so I'm not clueless as to when quests run because I'd never bother with that).
>>
>>33204322
>Negotiator 2 -2 Gen. XP

Go with the honest discussion then and there.

>>33204333
Honestly, last thread I panicked horribly because, while not against romance, I was worried we were moving way too quick.

>>33204349
Then get an account and follow him, stop whining just because it's slightly inconvenient for you.
Also, mostly consistent running schedule, twitter is totally unnecessary.
>>
>>33204367
This is a bit early in a quest's lifetime to say there's a consistent schedule to be honest. It could be if it's maintained though.
>>
>>33204194
Almost missed this, sorry.

[Spoiler]Depends how much Divine Energy you invest into a pregnancy, invested points cannot be regained until the pregnancy is over. The rule for humanoids is 2 weeks shorter per invested point to accelerate, 5 points to suspend indefinably. [/Spoiler]

“So what ‘exactly’ did you bet on?” you ask Jianxi “Because I'm not entirely sure you have actually won that bet.”
Jianxi is overcome by giggles for a few moments whilst Matthias grins and Isla blushes. When she calms down, Jianxi responds “I bet that Isla would be able to get you into bed to have her way with you, before we set sail.” Isla’s face is now flaming red.

“Whilst that’s not quite a suitable subject for a bet” you admonish her “You didn’t win, we slept together in the same bed because we stayed up late talking, and we didn’t do anything else.”

Matthias’ grin deepens and he holds out his hand, Jianxi gives him his gold back with a sulky expression and mutters “not on the ship yet.”

>>33204515
I thought that allies would be spending XP based off of their own wills.

So, what does mirror image mean by '1d4 +1 per three levels'?
I don't recall seeing levels anywhere, this system is kinda freeform in how XP is handled.
>>
>>33204423
I just wanna check my math

A standard pregnancy is about nine months
Nine months is 36 weeks. (4x9=36)
Blessed Health reduces pregnancy by 2 weeks per point invested.
Instantaneous pregnancy requires 18 divine power. (36/2=18)
>>
>>33204604
I'll be honest, I stole a lot of stuff from 3.5 SRD and then took all the class+level specific stuff out, or so I intended.

If the players don't want to do the book-keeping of spending ally XP, I can handle it behind the curtain.

>>33204577
This I'll put to a vote, should Jianxi be able to spend her Bard XP on musical skill?
>>
>>33204639
Well I'd go with 38 weeks as a base, but other than that, yes.
>>
>>33204642
Well as original anon, I obviously vote yes for Jianxi.
I'd spend XP on it even if it was functionally useless.
>>
>>33204642
No for musical skill.

Is Jianxi the only one that earned XP or have you just not posted Isla and Matthias's gains yet?

I would honestly prefer you to handle our allies XP distribution, but I feel the hivemind would be against me on that matter.
>>
And now, the plot continues

You take Isla shopping for eyeglasses. After an hour of making her look through lenses of all different types the old man who owns the shop has found the ideal parameters for her and prepares the lenses for shaping, in the mean-time he asks his assistant to help her pick out what frames she wants. The young man offers her all sorts of frames. Isla asks you “Which ones do you like?”

That would've been good to know.

I assumed that you would post all three at once since their gains are smaller and less likely to spark debate than our own distribution.

After asking around you discover that Trader Jisan is a private man, and he's keeping his head down because the port authorities also want to talk to him.

But it seems Trader Jisan has a weakness for pretty ladies of dubious virtue. He has frequently been seen at the Dropped Cloth, an innocently named tavern with a not-so-innocent trade.

The Dropped Cloth is on a backstreet far from the respectable parts of the city. The sign outside shows a serving maid in a short dress bending over to pick up a cloth she has dropped, whilst behind her two men look on approvingly.

It is currently midday

Inside the tavern are three long stages with tables lined up alongside each one. At the end of each stage a long metal pole runs from the floor of the stage up to the ceiling.

This early in the day there are only a few patrons, and only 1 woman dancing on a stage, she looks like she's new - she keeps missing steps and the few patrons don't seem too interested. At this point she still has all of her clothes on.

You ask one of the serving girls about the owner of the establishment and a few minutes later a very fat woman wearing far too much make-up and far too many rings on her fingers and through her ears comes out to see you.

“What do you want” she looks you up and down critically “Hmm, maybe, but you only see basic pay for the first 3 months, no tips. And you do private services for whomever pays, no refusals.”
She casts an eye over Jianxi too “Hmm, bit skinny, but being Kugani could be a draw I suppose, I’ll let her keep the tips she earns.” Jianxi’s eyes widen and her hand moves towards her knife sheath, you lay a restraining hand on her arm and stare her down when she glares at you in anger.

“Well, the thing is” you say, twisting nervously “we need a way out of the City without meeting any of the guard, and we need some money to get us by.”

“Say no more child” says the fat woman “Mama Sallie knows exactly how to help you.” She puts a thick arm around Jianxi’s shoulders , and another around your waist and leads you into the back of the establishment. “Why if you impress enough customers I’m sure you’ll be richer than nobles in no time, and as for leaving the city I might know someone who can help you out.”

She takes you to a back room that has no customers, and a smaller version of the stages out front, complete with pole going to the ceiling, towards the back, you can see a room with all sorts of costumes in it. Mama Sallie gestures towards the changing room. “Go, pick out something that’ll fit you, and then we’ll see how well you dance.”

You and Jianxi head to the changing room. As soon as the door is closed, Jianxi turns on you. “Are you out of your mind?!” she asks in a harsh whisper “What are you thinking?”

This content, but make it sound less snappy? We *are* open to input, but this is one way that has a high chance of working and we took it.

Given that our disguise will only have to hold until we meet the smuggler, we might even use an excuse that she cannot dance right this night. Only use that lass sentence in an emergency.

Just no. If you're already going there, question every post and only take them as inspiration.

“I was thinking we could get close to Trader Jisan” you respond in a conciliatory manner.
“This is not the way to do that!” She responds, her voice rising before she controls herself.
“What would you suggest?” you ask
“Simple” She says “I visit the ‘Cloth disguised as a patron, and ask around to see who knows him. It avoids either of us being decked out like whores and parading naked in front of everyone, and it means I can make him a credible offer. He won’t take a couple of dancing girls seriously – all he’ll do is fondle our rears!”

For today. We might adjust it so that we don't actually dance this night. Maybe tell her that we are glad this option is open and just have to take care of some things today. We will check in later, she can introduce us to the smuggler, we can check our meager savings against costs and then we start tomorrow with a plan for how long we need to work.

“That’s a pretty good plan” you concede. Instead of either of you changing you leave, telling Mama Sallie you have changed your minds. As you leave the Dropped Cloth her voice follows you out “come back when you feel the law closing in, girls.”

It’s shortly after midday.

You go off to see the Harbourmaster. The Harbourmasters Offices are a large building some ways back from the waterfront, it is a bustling, busy place. Clerks argue with quartermasters over good classifications for taxes. Ships captains stand near the fireplace sipping wine and complaining about the weather.

You show your letters of authority to a harassed looking clerk, who ushers you into the Harbourmasters own personal office, he’s haranguing a young clerk “I don’t care if he tells you he’s going to eat the damn things, it’s also used for dyes, his import tax is based on commercial goods, not food.” After the clerk hurries out, the Harbourmaster, an old man with a prominent bald patch, glares at you. “What do you want?”

“I’m Paladin Sireyi” you explain, showing him the letters giving you the Churches authority

He did, you can feel the Horn towards the south and east, straight out over the water. But maybe the Harbourmaster won’t be able to help you

“To help me in my search, I need a record of all shipping manifests for cargo and passengers for the last 2 weeks” you say, not letting his outburst rattle you.

“It will take my clerks all day to write that out” he says, with a sour expression “Come back tomorrow to pick them up, was there anything else?”

Leave him a message after we have left, then. Actually, the church will probably get that information to him after a while.

“Has there been any unusual activity for the time of year, starting last week?” You ask.
“You mean other than the damned Church of Konig interfering in my business” he blusters “No, everything has been fine, or would be once the holier-than-thou idio-” He breathes deeply and continues in a much calmer tone.
“This is a big port city, a lot of strange things happen here, but nothing that immediately springs to mind, no.”

You thank him for his time and leave to go to the Church.

[At the Church]

You decide to go back to the Church of Velya, perhaps the High Priestess can see you now.
You are in luck, as you enter the Church, it seems a young novice has been tasked to wait for you. She leads you directly to the High Priestess’ office.

High Priestess Winmer is young to hold such an exalted position, barely 40 years of age. She ushers you in and bids you take a seat. She has dark circles under her eyes and looks upset.
“How can I help you child” she asks after a pause.

“The Church of Konig is what’s wrong!” She snaps, then takes a deep breath “My apologies child, I’m overwrought.”After a pause she continues.

“As you know, the Church of Velya runs hospitals and shelters for the less fortunate, the clergy and laypeople tend to anyone in need, no matter who they are.”

“Yesterday, a number of gang-members from rival gangs came to one of our hospitals, looking for help in the aftermath of a war over territory, of course we kept them apart from one another. But we didn’t think to keep the clergy of Konig out, they so seldom come to our hospitals, we thought they were there to offer help, we were wrong.”

“Once the priests of Konig had ascertained the identities of the gangs, they left, only to return with church soldiers to take those young men and women into custody.”

“Of course the priestess on the ward refused, as some were in poor condition. I don’t know the full circumstances, but now one of my own, a priestess I trained, is dead, along with a dozen hospital workers.”

“I was at the Church of Konig until late last night, arguing with my counterpart there – he is adamant that the church soldiers were just doing their duty in hunting down all possible leads in the hunt for the Horn. He said he was sorry for my loss – he actually had the balls to say that to my face – only to say in the next breath that she must have provoked them!”
>>
>>33206528
Face flushed, she breathes heavily for a long moment, before continuing in a calmer manner “I can understand that the Church of Konig is eager to have the Horn returned, but I think that in their desperation, they are compromising their own ideals. Tell me if there’s help I can give you towards finding it. Not just for my own peace of mind.” She forces a smile “I’ve always liked you child, ever since your mother asked the Church to care for you.”

“Now, whilst carrying you, just before giving birth, your mother was serving in an elemental court, the court of storms to be exact.”

She looks down, when she looks up, all mirth is gone from her face “She resumed her duties to Velya shortly after you were born, though she visited you often. It was when she was travelling from the realm of Velya to travel to the court, just before your first birthday that she disappeared.”

“Of course the other angels of Velya searched for her, but she was never found, to this day, we still don’t know where she is. Even Velya has only been able to determine that she is alive, but nothing else” Noticing the look on your face she pulls you into a hug “There, there child, I’m sure you’ll see her again, after all you’ve got a long time to meet up with her again.”

This is the last backstory planned so far, unless plans change, there will not be another.

“Thank you” you say, wiping tears from your eyes, before realising what she just said “What do you mean ‘a long time’?”

“Well half-angels are very rare” says the High Priestess “but some records indicate for over 2,000 years.”

It’s mid-afternoon and you have plans for this evening. You thank the High Priestess for her time and return to your inn to work out your plan for tonight with your allies.

Currently you plan for Jianxi to disguise herself, pretending to be a patron at the Dropped Cloth, and try to locate Trader Jisan. You thought you’d either take up the job as a dancer and watch from inside the place, or perch on a nearby building.

Parts to the plan, you only have 1 hat of disguise

>Regular disguise
>disguised as who/what?

As Jianxi disguises herself using her own skills, you don the magical hat once more and you both return to the Dropped Cloth disguised as patrons, whilst Matthias and Isla hide nearby.

The Dropped Cloth is doing a roaring trade this evening, all of the stages are occupied and the bear is flowing freely. Dangerous-looking thugs stand inside near the entrance, but with the number of people here, and the noise, you could probably knife someone and no one would notice. You and Jianxi start to circulate, buying beers and discretely asking questions.

You manage to coax the information out of him. He has smuggled a few people out of the port using his water barrel trick but most were going west, only one was going east – the direction you can sense the Horn in.

“Was a strange-looking fella” says Jisan, with no sense of irony “Tall and skinny, dressed in rags, long raggedy beard. Still his gold was good and he had plenty of it. Kept a leather case on him, never let go of it, not once, even when we put ‘im in the barrel. Coulda sworn I saw him talking to it once.”

“Ah, ship, ship” he says “We put him on the Dancing Spar, left 10 days ago, can’t recall where twas headed, just down south and east. That’s all I know, gave no name, I don’t need ‘em.”

Well, now we know what to ask the harbormaster. And we're going to need a ship.

Does the smuggler have a ship that can actually outsail anything the harbormaster has at his disposal? We might want to hire a fast ship.

Yup, as of right now, Sireyi has no preference, if she develops one, it will be up to the players

I can't believe there are people who want to accept this shit. If this was a guy doing all of this you'd be out for blood.

>in previous threads the dominant view has been to not date Isla
Well, I agree the dominant view has been to not date her, but I sure don't agree that it has been to let her down. Personally I didn't push it because I saw no real reason to dive straight into romance of any kind YET, but am vary much wanting to keep the option open.

Also both sides are blatantly samefagging this vote to hell
>>
>>33209751
>as votes, is this ok?

No, it's not okay. I don't want to keep stringing her along. There is no discussing of possible relationship.
>>
>>33209751
I'd prefer her to remain completely neutral as far as preference of one gender over the other.
Preferring the people, rather than the equipment, as it were.

>>33209764
She actually had a great opportunity to molest us, but she didn't.
>>
>>33209751
>"possibility"
I'm okay with this. Was originally voting to put her down but this is better, at least until we confirm our own feelings about this at least.
>>

>>33209759
>>
>>33209789

Either we date her or we let her down. There is no third option. The only difference is letting her down now, with minor repercussions, or giving her (false?) hopes and delaying the letdown, with larger repercussions. Also the shitstorm will start every time this is brought up.
>>
>>33209751
Discuss the possibility, admit that we are way too confused about our own feelings and sexuality to commit to anything.
>>
Wait wait wait. Suddenly people vote to start a relationship with the girl we know nearly nothing about and have had absolutely no interest in before, just like that? At least let the relationship start naturally, if it ever should start. Right now she is just a fangirl who has idolized us for far too long.

>>33209751
We have never had any sexual feelings towards her. She only has a crush on us because we are her 'hero'. Basing a relationship on that alone seems incredibly unhealthy.

I don't even know where the "let her down easy" comes from. There is nothing there we could let her down from! We have not even the beginning of a relationship.
>>
>>33209751
You really should have just left Isla's feelings ambiguous, or at least anons' decision regarding how to approach them, for quite a bit later I think. Players don't really know enough about any characters to make an informed decision yet.
>>
>>33209823
I WANTED to let it form (or not) naturally, but apparently not accepting/refusing right now is a terrible terrible thing, so we now have to vote on it.
>>
>>33209819
>implying love is a yes or no answer
also agreed with the shitstorm, @Pally, can we fucking not bring up romance, it turns the thread to shit.
>>
>>33209764
She crawled into our bed. That was all. I had expected something to happen there, but it didn't. Not even an innuendo. Which is one of the reasons that I think starting a relationship with her out of the blue is insane.
>>
>>33209823

>We have not even beginning of a relationship
She has, though. And we've done nothing to make her think otherwise.
>>
>>33209751
>bringing up romance
fuck you QM, this quest could've been good.
>>
>>33209819
Fuck that, it's entirely possible to acknowledge her feelings and simply tell her 'I can't return them at this time as I don't know you nearly well enough, and am currently focused on my mission'. Now you're right that if she takes this badly it could be a problem, but there's every indication that she's completely fine with this, so you're full of shit.
>>
Wow, my apologies for stepping on that landmine.

Alright, romance discussion is officially postponed for now, no votes counted, sorry for stringing anyone along, or for miscounting votes.
>>
>>33209839
I'm the guy that suggested discussing it with her, and this was basically what I wanted, and why I'd now like to just tell her we're too damn confused about everything to start a relationship.

We also found out we're going to outlive everyone we know, so that might play into it from Sireyi's perspective.
>>
>>33209859
FUCKIN THIS
>>
>>33209850
Where? The closest thing so far was asking about our past and then falling asleep without even hearing about it. That's it. Days have passed since and there has been no (in-quest at least) follow up.
>>
>>33209862
Yeah, just have Isla be aware that we're unwilling to commit to anything right now but in the future, who knows. Then leave it at that.
>>
>>33209862

It's not your fault. The only way to avoid this is to have MC completely promiscuous or to make the quest completely sterile of any romance. People get awfully entrenched about their preferences.
>>
Moving on....

If nothing else, you want to discuss how the others are improving their abilities. You spend a lot of time on board the ship training together and getting a feel for each others weaknesses and skills

Cross-Training Unlocked: Each Party member can learn skills from the others, as long as at least 1 party member has that skill, the XP cost for learning it is reduced.

[Note, as requested, I will handle NPC XP use, but players can request specific party members train specific abilities when XP is gained]

As part of your training with Jianxi and Isla, specifically how they use their magic in combat, you notice something strange – specifically that you can begin to tell when they’re casting spells. In other words, you think you can sense magic.

After performing a few meditative exercises with the two of them, Isla administers a simple test, which you pass.

Apparently, you’re a latent sorcerer, and your companions think they can help you awaken your powers.

>Sure, let’s try this
>Let’s try this later.

Also, I will post the results of this, and the Matthias bit, and then I'm off to bed, will start a new thread in 10 hours or so.

Anyway, the whole point is people who are interested in romancing Isla DON'T want to do it now, hence the vote being set in motion by people who want to refuse her outright rather than people wanting to jump into bed with her.

>>33209911
we're not starting a relationship with her, its about whether or not we accept her feelings.

You spend time with Matthias, trying to get to know him better as a person. He tells you about his early life as a guild orphan, his successes, his failures. It’s not so different from many peoples lives, but it’s important to him, so you take the time to listen.
The thing he’s most proud of is being the best all-round fighter in his class, skilled with any weapons.
The thing he’s most embarrassed about is that he snores, heavily. You reassure him that you’ve never noticed, through the wall (you have, it makes it hard to sleep).
The biggest event in his life was being attacked by a werewolf and you can see how he smiles when discussing anything before the attack, and is subdued about anything afterwards.

When talking about being a werewolf he tries to see it as separate to himself, referring to himself as a person, and ‘the beast’ as a separate entity.

He keeps coming back this one part of himself, you can discuss all sorts of topics with him, make him laugh, but he seems fixated upon this part of himself, unable to accept that he now has this to live with. Sometimes he seems pretty down, convinced people see him as a monster, not a person. What do you do?

>Convince him to accept the beast as part of himself, just like anything else about himself he’s not proud of.
>Convince him he must conquer the beast and bring it to heel
>Not everyone sees you as a monster Matthias, I don’t see you as a monster Friendship not Romance option

Even if you're covered in mud, even if the power was gained from lying or stealing or whatever, its still you and you have to accept that (straight out of negima)

>Not everyone sees you as a monster Matthias, I don’t see you as a monster
>>
>>33210195

>Convince him he must conquer the beast and bring it to heel
So far, he's demonstrated he has the upper hand. The beast is not stronger than he.

After listening to Matthias’ concerns and taking them seriously, you explain that, at least for now Matthias needs to learn to live with the wolf. Matthias argues at first, before realising that he has no real argument beyond ‘I don’t want to’ and accepts your wisdom.
After this, Matthias seems calmer, more at ease, though still not completely at peace.
[Path of the Man mini-quest started 1/5 complete]

After finding out more about Matthias, you start to find common interests, like his lack of horsemanship skills, and how as a child he dreamed of being able to fly. He thinks that Jianxi can be a bit of a bitch sometimes, but would never say that in front of her, being rather tongue-tied in the presence of most women.
[Loyalty increased]

His newfound friendship is perhaps what prompts him to make a rather personal request.
“Sireyi, if this voyage is going to take a month, then for 3 days I’ll need to be locked up. I should be able to keep control. However I’ve always been alone on a full-moon, will you sit with me through the night?

The best option would probably be to just let us get to know Isla better (a lot better) before you start listening to any romantic/anti-romantic options.
The same goes for any other character.
Otherwise you'll have people feeling like they're firing blind in a situation they don't understand, which leads to shitstorms.
>>
>>33210536
I'll give you some advice.
First off, no romance at all no matter what for a while. Let people know the characters first. Honestly you should let people interact with characters without the romantic tension as well, which is why I'm kinda worried about interactions with Isla - not the interactions themselves, but anons' voting and reactions regarding them.

Second, any and all romance-related vote is gonna get samefagged hard, for both (or hell, more than that even if appropriate) options, and are entirely unreliable. General mentions of being for/against romancing a characters are prone to the same thing. Frankly, you've kind of hit a trap where you've both failed to establish whether there will be romance or not, and a sexual preference of the MC - both of which will generally cause lots of ire and shitposting in FeMC quests. There is no way for you to do romance that will please everyone, and since people are more than willing to samefag their side, that means there's no way to do (or not do) romance without a flood of butthurt posts about it. Condolences.
>>
>>33210536

>>33210536
I think the best is for you not to bother with romance until we at least got to know the people involved. Just let us develop platonic relationships and the rest will follow naturally.
>>
>>33210652

Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated.

So it seems the best path from here would seem to be to develop the characters as individual characters in their own right, and put romance on the back-burner until this is done.

So more intra-party stuff, discovering the characters hopes dreams and ambitions, and how they mesh (or not) with one another.
>>
>>33210709

>>
>>33210709

>>

>romance on the back-burner
Actually, don't plan any romance for the MC at all, the rest is fair game. The players will pursue someone if they really want, but as this quest (and countless others) have shown, the first clear potential partner will usually be chosen immediately.

Not to say you shouldn't have characters fall in love with the MC or be attracted. I would actually like to go over the issues of our hero worshipper.
