@QMKingofHearts.

The date is April 18th, UC 0083. You are Lieutenant Commander Dominic O'Hara, mobile suit ace and 19 year-old veteran of the One Year War, and you are currently being dragged around a space station by a crazy woman who you only met about five minutes ago.

In all fairness, Defrah Kar is probably just excited to have someone new to talk to. Her enthusiasm is also a wonderful change of pace for your visit to Anaheim Electronics. Whereas everyone else you've met here seems to be all business and secrets all the time, the test pilot for the “GP-03” unit seems not to understand the meaning of either of those words. Her first act upon meeting you and Audrey was to insist on taking you to the cafeteria in one of the grav-blocks, where Carya waves the three of you over.

“It's pasta,” she explains excitedly, pointing at her plate of pesto. “Actual goddamn pasta, with sauce. And chicken that hasn't been freeze-dried.” Haman merely nods in your direction, too enamored with the fresh food in front of her to even speak. You can feel that she's immensely happy, although you have to wonder how much of that could possibly be the result of her pork roast. Reiko seems to have left the table for seconds.

“Friends of yours, I take it?” Defrah inquires.

"Well, you've met me and Audrey," you begin. "This is Lieutenant Marseille..."

Carya nods, and Defrah returns the gesture. "A pleasure."

"... and that's Noin, a civilian consultant."

Haman looks up from her pork roast and nods quietly at the test pilot. "Hi."

"Our unit secretary is Miss Hollinger, who'll be back in a moment, and our CO is Commander Joshua, who's probably still reporting our defeat of the Lightning Count, Char Matsunaga."

Defrah grins and introduces herself in turn. "Defrah Kar, test pilot and resident crackup when there's nothing else for me to do."

Something feels off, though: it's a strange sensation that either you haven't noticed until now or that just washed over you, and you can't be sure what exactly is causing it...

Aznable's OBVIOUSLY a fake name, I mean, there's not *nearly* enough vowels in it to be real.

Naturally we deveated Johnny Cher Ridden, he used his middle name as the basis for his terrible alias, and then just took some random gibberish to make a fake last name.

If you weren't so close to them, you're not entirely sure you'd have been able to figure out what was going on at the table. Carya and Catrina are both uncomfortable in this place: it's the same sense of vague unease that you've been getting aboard the La Vie en Rose. The feeling that something important is being hidden from you at this very moment, and that everyone aboard the station is somehow in on it. It's not entirely surprising given that you know they're a part of the Gundam Development Project, but it's obviously bugging the sisters. What's more, you can tell they know you noticed.

You suppose Newtype sensitivities are a little scary when you stop to think about it.

On the other hand, Haman's concern isn't with Anaheim Electronics, but more obviously with your own team. You feel like there's a hint of jealousy there, but not towards you... in fact, it doesn't feel particularly directed at anyone. More visibly, you notice she's been growing her hair longer, and that you've managed to catch her looking at you. There's a faint note of embarrassment as your eyes meet and she quickly resumes eating.

Finally, you get the feeling that Defrah really wants to ask a question, but isn't absolutely sure she should.

>>
>>33340239
I like it!
>>
>>33340189
Could be. She was crushing pretty hard on Char, it's not unbelievable that she's transferred it to us. Fits with the hair growing longer. Char was dating a girl with short hair, and Haman cut her hair short. Dominic is dating a girl (well, two girls, but they share a hairdo) who has long hair, and now Haman's growing it longer again.

>>33340239
Maybe. She didn't actually murder Natalie, though, she had someone do it for her. Haman doesn't have the resources here to employ assassins. And I think the twins could take her if she tried to do it herself. For one thing, they have Newtype senses to warn them to any murderous intent Haman's projecting.

"So," you pipe up, "you have something on your mind, Defrah?"

The test pilot blinks, momentarily confused. "Oh... that's right, you're a Newtype. Yeah, I did have something to ask Miss Marseille here."

Catrina momentarily surfaces as the sisters' eyes shift briefly to red. "...yes?" she asks, clearly not liking where things seem to be going.

“So you're the Black Star, right? I always figured you weren't really dead.”

Catrina freezes up for a split second, and you can feel the sisters reign in their response just as Carya quickly takes over again. “... I don't know what you're talking about, Miss Kar.”

“Well, your hair is longer than EFSF regulation, which means you're 'valuable' enough to get away with it. Your leather jacket has pin holes in the collar and isn't Federation-issue, meaning you were probably an officer with a rank insignia there, and you likely weren't on our side.” You see the sisters' eyes, now glinting lavender, narrow dangerously at Defrah's unexpected deductive abilities. The test pilot is undeterred. “Finally, you're with Mister O'Hara here, meaning the two of you have most likely been together since your engagement at A Baoa Qu.”

“And what do you plan to do with this knowledge?” the pair press quietly in unison, having finally given up on secrecy.

Defrah, however, seems genuinely confused. “Whaddya mean? I'm not gonna do anything, I think it's great!”

“Really?” you ask her.

She nods enthusiastically. “You two are lovers, right? I'd never ruin the one good thing I've seen come out of the war just because one of you was on the wrong side. It's a technicality... a strong technicality, granted, but still.”

>Response?

Everyone else we've encountered has seemed to assume the Black Star was alive, even if they didn't identify you on sight. Then again, we have mostly worked since the war with people with high clearance levels. Maybe you're officially dead."
>>
>>33340553
“Lovers? I don't follow.”

“Don't even start, Dom,” Carya replies, now a little calmer. “I can tell when you're messing with me. Newtypes, remember?”

“Yeah,” you retort, “but I know you like it. I know what all the ladies like.” That one earns you a punch on the arm.

“That still could have gone a lot worse,” you offer. “It seems she's sincere, what do you two think?”

Catrina sighs. “I guess it works.”

“So long as we're dead to the Federation, and the 'Black Star' stays dead on paper, I'll be satisfied.” Carya adds.

Haman, her concern having been similarly abated, places her fork down on her now-empty plate. “We told you something interesting, Miss Kar. How about you return the favor?”

“Yeah,” Audrey continues, quickly grasping the younger woman's plan. “Fair is fair, right?”

I wonder why the twins are trying to hide it this time. They've never really treated it like it was a secret before. Is it just because Defrah's not part of the unit? They admitted it pretty readily to Aubrey after knowing her for only a few hours, but then again she was going to be working with them.
>>

Oh man, how cool would it be to have Cima as the captain of our ship after we inevitably join the AEUG? Especially if we can grab the Albion for our own use. They never actually say what happened to it after 0083, that means it's potentially available for us to steal.
>>
>>33340938
It's very much a "need to know" thing. People in her own unit need to know. People outside her unit need to not know, since neither the sisters nor Dominic can control the spread of information outside their own chain of command. If the wrong people found out it could provoke blackmailing attempts, a violent backlash, or even the convening of a military tribunal.

As for who knows among the flag officers of the EFSF, none of you are sure, but they've never bothered you. So either most of them don't know or don't care.

No, we can screw the nickname up but we have to be consistent about him being Johnny Ridden. It's funnier that way to invert the gag. >Mum,
>Just got back from that long deployment, wanted to let you know I'm okay. I really wish I could tell you what it was I was doing, but you know how the Federation likes to keep its secrets. All I can tell you is that I'm probably one of the safest pilots in the service... they probably consider me too valuable to lose, and the machines they assign me to tend to be the top of the line. As far as what you asked before I got called out to California base, you can probably send the cap to San Francisco. The base we'll be staying at is EFAB San Francisco, and a package should get there in time for me to use on Earth. And thanks for knitting it for me: last time I worked late in the hangar I could have sworn my ears were going to freeze off, so it'll be put to good use.
>Dad,
>I hope you enjoyed the bottle of Scotch I sent you. I might try to wrangle some shore leave during the baseball season, so I'd love to go to the new ballpark with you for like a daygame or something. But I hope you don't mind company: Carya, that girl I brought back to visit with me? The one you kept telling me you'd 'be happy to have as a daughter' and who made 'such a handsome couple' with me? Well, we finally got together mid-deployment. Big news there. Also, she says hi.

“So how'd the conversation go?” you ask as Emary leaves the room. “I wasn't really paying attention.”

Reiko rolls her eyes.

“She gave us something pretty useful,” Audrey tells you in a low voice.

Defrah nods. “I'll also be taking you out drinking later tonight, give you a bit of a cover story.”

“Cool. Good work, team,” you tell them, passing out a round of fist-bumps. “And Haman?”

“Yeah, Commander?”

“I like the hair,” you tell her, giving it a little ruffle as you pass. “I think a little longer suits you.”

You can practically feel her blushing.

The civilian you find waiting for you on the opposite side of the grav blocks is a stern-faced young woman, with wavy blonde hair and bright green studded earrings. Her suit is tailored to fit her frame perfectly, and everything about her appearance seems to be aimed at projecting an air of confidence and professionalism. Your other senses, however, paint a different picture for you: behind that veneer is a deep insecurity, and a need for validation that is as readily apparent to you as if she'd told you about it herself. It seems to you that she's the type of woman who earns the validation she seeks by invalidating or diminishing the work and lives of others... at least that's the immediate impression you get.

“Yes,” she replies casually, waving you in. “Please, have a seat.”

“So, Commander. I hear you've shown up with a trio of fancy GM units, calling them Gundams. What's more, you had the gall to ask my teams to help your unit fabricate new equipment designs. Is that correct?” The emphasis on the 'my' only serves to confirm your suspicions: you're on her self-declared turf, and she resents you for daring to usurp the authority she thinks is rightfully hers.

You try to ignore the nagging sense that she's also imagining what you would look like naked. Seriously, is it something in the water?

You can tell that scored a hit, so you continue to press your advantage. "Then he told you that we're a field evaluation branch of the same project you're working on, and probably green-lit our fabrication work while we're here. Right now all you're doing is angling for information on our machines' capabilities, and we both know it. So here's what I'll do. "By the way," you add, "either quit staring or buy me dinner already. I'm not here for you to ogle."

She's going to regret that when she sees we've already made our equivalent of the Full Burner pack. The Lilium is already superior to the Zephyranthes in almost every way, once we upgrade we'll blow the thing out of the water. I think they have the same armor, but that's it. In all other respects the Lilium is the better mobile suit. Panomarmic cockpit instead of standard, better thrusters, more powerful weapons, we even scooped them on the replaceable E-Cap thing. The only thing the Zephyranthes has on us is that it has a Core Block System and therefore has slightly higher pilot survivability.

Oh, for sure. Though Hearts said that our beam saber actually is mounted like the beam tonfa, but without the ability to swing back. Which I would kind of like to have. I was thinking maybe put limited sub-arms on our suit's forearms. That way while our main hands were busy they could come swinging around to cut with the beam saber. It would make saber locks really deadly for our opponent, too. We could tie up their beam saber with one in our hands, then bring the other up to slice off their arm. Really, I just like sub-arms. I want sub-arms to be a big thing. We have the potential to shape the course of mobile suit development in this timeline, let's make some things canon doesn't take full advantage of. Extra limbs should be a staple of Newtype-use designs.

Not to mention biometrics can't be taken through a pilot suit." She honestly seems a little impressed that you'd think to ask something like that.

"I'll work on a design if you have concerns, and I'll let you know when I've got something."

>>33342803

"Last question, you think we could arrange to share data? We're a test team, after all. It could help both of us."

She shakes her head. "Sorry, but again, I can't do that. We're a for-profit company, after all. I kind of want to help, though... it's the first time someone's actually run circles around me like you did just now."

"But nobody above me would clear that sort of arrangement, and I'd probably be suspended for asking."

"So I take it that's the best you can do?" you ask with a sigh.

"The only other thing I can do is offer to let you and your team use this facility when you need to... and to turn a blind eye, when necessary."

"Excuse me?"

"Nothing."

With a nod, Miss Purpleton shows you out into the hallway. You sense that your team has moved to your temporary quarters, so you proceed that way and invite yourself in.

I mean, from my view, the reason why she was so good against the GM's was because they didn't reall know how to fight funnels, rather that her outright skills. While it might be dangerous against the unexperienced, she should learn to rely on more than fancy gimmicks and Newtypery.

>Hyper Carbine: smaller, deals a little less damage, but is more accurate and has a higher ammo capacity
>Psycommu Torpedos: like bigass missiles, but guided by a psycommu system. Currently only suitable as shipboard armaments.
This gives us a nice, convenient weapon for all purposes and a badass superweapon for when we have to pull out the stops. I always did wonder why you never see Newtype ship-based weapons. I'd think that a larger psycommu system could project psychowaves farther and give you even better range on your remote weapons. Or you could wire a psychowave-based communicator into each mobile suit so a Newtype tactical commander could coordinate their troops more effectively. It has a lot of potential once you no longer have to squeeze it down onto a mobile suit.
>>
>>33344107
I'm a bit confused on what the twin hyper rifle is. Is it just a second rifle with the appropriate software to fire link it to our other, or is it a two-barreled rifle that uses the whole "deflection megaparticle cannon" thing that some Zeon suits use to let each barrel fire on different targets
>>
I dunno why everyone went Twin rifle. Adding more power to beam weapons quickly hits diminishing returns, I would think that more accuracy/ammo and something that could be used in closer quarters would be more useful.

>>
>>33344310
Less powerful blast experiences less bloom, maybe?
>>
>>33344368
Er, forgive my stupidity, but why can't the carbine be scaled up? I'm not sure I see what you're saying. Do you mean that the rifle can be fired at less than maximum output, but the carbine can't be overcharged without risking damaging it?
>>
Urgh. This is making the /k/ in me starting to have a migraine.
>>
>>33344107
"So, Haman," you ask the Newtype girl as she settles in again, quickly making sure that nobody else is in earshot, "what are your three sizes?"

The reaction is immediate. Haman stares in surprise at you, her face quickly growing red. "I... what? Why?"

"No reason," you continue. "I was just noticing you were a bit smaller across the chest than most of the rest of the team. That's all."

"... really?" she asks quietly. Her voice betrays what your Newtype senses can tell you easily: the implication that you might think her chest is too small upset her.

"And I don't even have a mobile suit to pilot anymore," she mutters half to herself.

"So I wasn't wrong earlier," you observe.

Haman looks at you, obviously confused.

>Explain? Be careful, you've kind of stepped into a minefield here.
>>
>>33344411

A carbine is a more compact rifle, basically. It fires the same slug as a rifle, but at reduced accuracy due to shorter barrel length.

And yeah, the rifle's beam can be modulated to our needs. We can cut the stock and barrel down to a carbine while still retaining the same power as the rifle.
>>
>>33344368
But here's the thing. The only real advantage the rifle seems to have over the carbine is more damage. But unless it's significantly more, say 15-25%, more better aimed shots would end up doing more total damage then fewer more powerful shots? Unless you're shooting at something that's juuuuusssstttt heavy enough that the less powerful shots don't pack enough wallop.
Which can be compensated by the magnum or torpedoes.

But the argument is entirely moot, since Hearts already called it.
>>
>>33344519
Oh god, why did you listen to them they were joking! Okay, shit. Say we're going to get a pilot suit for her, since we can't have her be using her Zeon-made one.

The carbine would sacrifice output for beam confinement and focusing, which also has the added bonus of moderately reduced strain on the e-cap. It's not the same as a modern carbine versus a rifle.

Tell her that you'll arrange for an MS for her to use, or assign her some kind of duty? Clearly she feels useless as she's part of the group, but she kind of just hangs around without anything to do. She probably feels like she's the lesser than everyone, and Dom needs to assure her that she's not, and that she's just as important to Dom as everyone else in the team.

Idunno, I can't into words so just phrase that however you will.

Gentlemen, in recognition of the fact that I may have been far too subtle, Haman is attracted to you. She values your opinion of her. She is frustrated that she hasn't been able to help you at all. She has tended to feel jealous of the rest of the team because of it.

That is the situation as Dominic would currently understand it. I'll give a little extra time to decide what to say next, but I'd suggest instead of simply treating the symptoms you take the opportunity to cure the disease, as it were.
>>
>Tell her we were ordering her uniforms and a pilots suit.
>Offer to let her practice in our suit.

TIME TO MAKE THE BEST OF A BAD SITUATION.

Also we should tell her that we wanna get her into some combat training, from what we've observed, she seems rather green in direct combat.

"I noticed in the fight that you were a bit panicky, so I've decided to have you get some more experience with conventional MS's, to do that, we need to get you properly outfitted for a Normal Suit, since yours isn't exactly EFF.

I thought you might enjoy doing some MS training, you've looked kind of frustrated all cooped up without anything to do. Why, what reason did you think I was asking for? You didn't think I was propositioning you, did you? Because not to insult you, you're a very attractive woman, but that was not at all my intent. I mean, leaving aside the issue of infidelity, it would be a little inappropriate to romance someone who's technically my captive. It would be a gross misuse of authority. Also, I think your father would probably declare war if I did that. Not on the Federation, just on me. I don't need the entirety of Axis out for my blood."

"I didn't expect that kind of reaction," you admit truthfully. "It's not something wrong with how you look: I was thinking that I wanted to get you fitted for a Federation pilot suit... we've got some new remote weapons in development, and I feel like at some point we may well have a psycommu mobile suit of our own."

"... really?" Haman asks.

"Yup. I've got the specs right here, actually. At some point, I think someone mentioned that the Lilium series were slated to be upgraded with a copilot position... using remote weapons from the ship could be good training, and it gives you a way to help us out."

Haman looks almost like she's about to cry as you put an arm around her. "I know you're frustrated, but just try and hold out a little longer, okay?"

She hugs you back. "Thanks, Dominic," she mutters into your shirt. "I won't let you down."

Later that evening, the mood in your squad has shifted completely in the opposite direction. La Vie en Rose, as it turns out, has a bar. Oh, does it ever have a bar.

Karen immediately falls on her beer like it's a the last bottle of oxygen in a hard vacuum, downing three pints before you even finish your first drink. On her collar, sadly for her, are her new captain's insignia. Reiko seems frustrated at the notion that she'll probably be dragging your fearless leader back to her room in a few hours.

Haman is nursing a glass of red wine in the corner with the rest of your team, the alcohol having been furnished by Audrey. Miss April herself is drinking a "French Connection", her second drink of the night.

You've made yourself comfortable in a large papasan chair with a glass of GlenDronach in hand, while the sisters have climbed into the chair with you to enjoy their cognac while sitting in your arms.

"Now that Haman has joined our unit, I think we should actually get her up to specs, we need to acquire a new MS, as well as getting her up to par in a conventional MS. No offence, but while those remotes were pretty powerful, the Earth Federation doesn't use any suits like that, so we need to shore up your skills in conventional MS combat.

You'll be sparring with me and CC to learn how to fight other Newtypes, as well as Audrey to also practice against highly skilled Oldtypes. Not every pilot is a Newtype or an Oldtype, so you should learn how to fight against both."
>>
>>33345810
"Also Audrey, this should help you learn about how to properly fight a newtype better, there's a lot a myths surrounding Newtypes, but there is a noticable benifit in combat.

That said, they aren't invincible, and learning how they fight should help if you're pitted up against one in real combat."

"Look," Carya tells you. "All I'm saying is, it's kind of weird, right? Char picks up a newtype brothel girl WAY younger than him, then attracts Haman for a while, and keeps running into the White Devil, who's a newtype too and from what I heard got together with a newtype on the White Base. Then there's you and me."

"Not to mention us," Catrina adds.

"... an that, yeah," Carya slurs a little. "So don't you think it's a little itty bitty bit weird that newtypes... you know, attract each other like fucking magnets?"

"Speaking of which, Haman's... well, she's into me. Like alot." If you hadn't been drinking, that may have come out smoother. Oh well.

Carya laughs to herself. "Yeah, I was wondering when you'd notice that."

"I thought you'd have more of a problem with it," you tell her. "After all, we'll probably be training together a lot, and something like that could fuck up the team dynamic."

"Look," she replies. "First, you're a grown-ass man. 's your call. Second, you're already with two women, because even if she doesn't have a body anymore Catrina's a person and anyone who disagrees can suck my figurative balls. So really, what's it matter if it's two or three?"

"Plus, I think she's kind of cute," Catrina adds, to Carya's apparent surprise. "A little young, but cute."

"So yeah," they conclude in unison, "just don't be a dick about it and see what happens. If you think your relationship with her would be better that way, and she's okay with it, and you're okay with it, then go for it. Even if I felt strongly one way or the other, I'd get over it. Because it's a weird, fucked up scenario between four people with mind powers and only three bodies between them. The normal rules don't apply."

The sisters then finish off their cognac as you sit in slightly stunned silence, wondering how much of that pronouncement was alcohol-induced.

I was hoping someone might have dug into a few of the details, but here goes:
The twins' personalities are based loosely on German fighter ace Hans-Joachim Marseille
The Lilium line are all named after flowers, like the rest of the GP machines: the lily may have multiple meanings, ranging from ambition to nobility, reflecting the many possibilities of an MC. The Iris is associated with insight and inspiration. Viola is the genus name for violets and pansies, which often represent faithfulness and loving thoughts, respectively

Close but no cigar. I found out there was a character based on Marseille after watching Der Stern von Afrika and reading about his actions during the war. I thought that his responses to the initial news of the Holocaust shortly before his death mirrored what a Zeon defector might have felt, so I ran with it.

Anyway, time to update.

God, this must be how Karen feels.

"Maybe Karen had it right," you mutter to yourself.

"Say what now?"

"Look, I've got no idea where the hell this is going to end up, girls, but you're crazy and I love it. I don't plan to chase her down right now or anything, but we'll deal with it somehow if that happens."

"Just like we always do," Carya adds.

An hour later, at about 23:00, the party winds down, and the inside of the La Vie en Rose is dead.

"Dom... Dominic... hey, wake up!"

You feel yourself rolled bodily out of bed and you hit the floor. The sisters have let Haman and Audrey into your room, and it seems like they're ready to set out. You also find that you've got yourself a pretty wicked headache.

"Stop the station, I think I missed my stop..." you groan to yourself.

Haman groans back at you. "Your headache is so bad I can feel it from here, what the hell were you drinking and how much did you drink?"

"Whiskey... all of the whiskey. And some of the gin."

With that, your team manages to walk or stagger out the door and into the hallway. Nina Purpleton's office is ahead on the left, and even with a headache that could kill off all of Dublin by itself you can tell that it's thankfully empty. Surprisingly, it's even unlocked.

"Here," Audrey mumbles as Haman shuts the door behind you. "This is the disk that Defrah gave us, with a full copy of the station's electronic security codes."

After trying three times to insert the disk into Nina's computer, Haman had to come over and help Audrey manage the task. After a few slow, deliberate keystrokes, Audrey waves the sisters over.

"Catrina, you okay to drive? I think I'm done," Audrey moans.

"Yeah, I'm on it," Catrina replies almost cheerfully as she takes over typing.

"How in the blood-soaked heathen hell are you doing that?" you groan at her.

"I can't get drunk," Catrina replies. "Not my mind at least, though Carya's body is still intoxicated."

"No bloody fair..."

Most likely to find out about any shenanigans. Anaheim isn't going to get into Newtype research for a few years, so that's out, and design specifications are interesting but less useful. If we can get even a hint of Operation Stardust, we have a huge advantage. We are Dominic O'Hara, Destroyer of Canon. Let's derail the plot.

“What do you think it means?” Haman asks.

You point to the the phrases 'gadget' and 'MLRS' on the screen, your eyes hurting a little from the light. “Gadget... codename for the first nuclear weapon detonated on Earth. MLRS stands for Multiple Launch Rocket System,” you explain.

“It means the Federation is designing a Gundam for nuclear warfare,” Catrina concludes. “The MLRS was probably a conventional alternative that got cut.”

"For God's sake," Audrey mutters bitterly.

Is it really so shocking that the GP02 has nuclear capability, though? Zeon had a ton of nuke-capable mobile suits. Zakus had nuclear bazookas, even. It's not good that they're equipping a Gundam with a nuke, but it's not actually that novel.
>>
>>33348347
You manage to slip your team out of the office and down the hallway with a minimum of noise, choosing a route that took you the long way around the guards but eventually finding your way back to your rooms.

"What the hell are they thinking?" Audrey hisses. "A nuclear armed Gundam? Is the Antarctic treaty just not a thing anymore?"

"We're more worried about Oakland," the sisters mutter. "If they really are experimenting on Newtypes down there, it's about to get fucking personal." The glint in their violet eyes sends a small chill down your spine.

Haman remains silent, obviously waiting on your verdict. She doesn't like what she's learned, however, but you get the feeling the mental wheels have started turning. "JH..." she whispers. "Why do I get the feeling that's not the last time we'll hear from him?"

You shake your head, and ruffle Haman's hair. "Good job, everyone. Audrey, you should move next door again. Get some rest. Haman, you can use the bathroom first. I want us all rested for tomorrow's trip to Oakland."

"I get the feeling things aren't going to get any easier from here."

That was before the Antarctic Treaty, When nukes were flying around like candy. What's shocking is that they're developing a suit specifically for the purposes of launching a nuke.
>>

The GP-02 carries the nuclear bazooka in it's shield.

Funnily enough, besides the Nuke Bazooka, the only other weapons it has are head vulcans and a beam saber.
>>

Yeah, it has a shield meant to protect it. But if you're launching your nuke from close enough that you need the shield you're doing something wrong. As for the Quebely, if we were going by canon the Prototype Quebely would be made about a year from now.

>>33348729
Two thirds of a fleet that was clustered closely together because it was the Naval Review. It's not as impressive as it sounds. And it only gets one shot of that bazooka. Gundams are inherently pricey and built in limited supply. I think it would be better to field a lot of Nuke GMs than a few Physalis units.

It's way overengineered armor-wise, and has a bigass shield with cooling systems. Previous nuclear-armed mobile suits were basically kamikaze units that couldn't escape their own blast.

Remember, attenuation is less severe in a vacuum, meaning even a small warhead has a large kill radius.

As for the Qubeley... let's just say things on Axis are about to get messy and leave it at that for now. And get ready for imoutos

Other way around, Hearts. No atmosphere means no shockwave means that even without attenuation the blast is smaller. The reason those Zakus got caught in their own blasts was because the early mobile suit rangefinders were shit and they didn't know how close they were to the target.

Radiation, my friend. Radiation is the major killer behind a theoretical nuclear detonation in space, because the lack of air means far less attenuation.

Seems NASA thinks that a nuke in space has a higher range of lethality when there's no attenuation due to atmosphere.
>>
>>33349113
Depends on how hardened your suit is. Given that the average mobile suit has pretty substantial radiation shielding just to counter what leaks out of the I-field in the reactor, you might be okay. Might be. I wouldn't count on it, though.
>>
>>33349176
Oh, I've seen those graphs. But that's still only a few dozen miles. Pretty large, but rather small for space. In a realistic space war you'd never be that close to your target upon firing your nuke. But Gundam has Minvovsky particles to compress all the ranges.
>>
>>33349066
I had a few other options available, with a large number of pre-written emails.

The 86 earlier determined the "most secret" information you could have gotten access to, as it represented the ease of use of the data that Defrah gave you. A 90 would have unlocked some information so secretive that knowing it would have made you an assassination target if anyone found out you knew.

>>33349122
Well, they're not ALL six. Cloning is a hell of a weird thing, anon, and it's never explained how it works in Gundam, so all you're left with are the novels and a set of unused setting notes, which actually disagree and neither of which adequately accounts for their various ages.

As much as I hate to think of this as a "fixfic", that's one area of canon that needed to go back under the editor's red pen again anyway.

Don't worry. Herr Doktor is still on the case. He might turn up even more juicy info.

Who knows, he may even find THE BOX.

Well, we know there's at least one doppleganger out there drawing fire from the real Mineva. So multiple Minevas is entirely possible.

Yes. And more besides: you may have even found Truth.

Some people's lives are better in this AU, some will be worse. Others may be a lot shorter, depending on the breaks.

They weren't all on her computer. Her computer WAS, however, linked to Anaheim's data networks, which at this point would also include plenty of people who would be in the loop about a lot of things most people don't know.

Man we really have confirmed The Good Doctor's death flag at this point. He'll probably discover hints of THE BOX, try and get it to us, and end up stuffed in a fridge. He'll leave a cryptic message on a lottery ticket telling us "FIND THE BOX. FIND THE TRUTH."

Oh man, didn't realize there would be a Friday thread this weekend. Awesome work as always, Hearts.

(please, no harem)
