@QMKingofHearts.

The date is October 11th, UC 0083. You are Lieutenant Commander Dominic O'Hara, and you've made one hell of a mess for yourself to clean up. After spending a night of Newtype-enhanced passion with your squadmates, the Marseille sisters, you're beginning to wonder what the side effects may have been for Haman and Rossweisse, who were trying to sleep in the room next to yours.

But that's definitely a problem for later. Right now you find yourself floating in the midst of a swirling field of debris left by your battle against a large Zeon assault force, which showed up unexpected and uninvited at La Vie en Rose. Between your powerful new Hyper Rifles, Haman's remotely-guided missiles, and fire support from the sisters' and Audrey's mobile suits, you held the line long enough for Anaheim test pilot Defrah Kar to retrieve the massive Dendrobium mobile armor. What followed felt more like a mass execution than an actual battle, leaving more molten steel and charred body parts in the aftermath than you thought possible. Whoever designed that thing must have brought in the Devil as a private consultant, because the Dendrobium fights like something spawned from the blackest pits of Hell itself.

You can see why someone wanted it destroyed.

The biggest immediate problems you face are that you have about twenty survivors trying to deal with the damage to their Musai, and there's been an unknown amount of damage done to your own team's machines. From what you saw, Carya and Catrina's Viola had its left arm taken clean off by a beam weapon, and your own Lilium has sustained some amount of external damage after you had to use your shield boosters to block two more beam shots. The hits touched off the remaining fuel in the boosters, enveloping your whole Gundam in the resulting explosions. You have no idea if Audrey's suit is hit or not.

You release the e-pacs from your Twin Hyper Rifles, and quickly replace them as they float next to your machine, pondering what to do next as you spin the weapons deftly and catch one in each of the Lilium's hands.

Delegate the Orchis to securing the Musai wreck and get that medical/boarding party underway. Audrey covers the Orchis.

Have Dom and Carya begin searching for survivors in the immediate area; rescue beacons, etc. Be sure to keep Haman out of most of this. Oh, if she can tune the psychommu mine system into a repurposed mind-hunting device for survivors, that'd speed things up.

General system sitrep from everyone. We know we're damaged.

>>
So, what sort of mobile weapons are you guys hoping to see going forward? I'm sorta hoping for something like the Euclid. Just so we have a mobile armor that isn't an overpriced villain of the week.
>>
>>33519308
You decide to give the debris field one last look-over to make sure you didn't miss anything.

“What a waste,” you mutter to yourself as you pass by one trashed mobile suit after another. Nothing remains but twisted steel limbs and floating corpses. "They didn't even stand a damn chance."

Defrah backs off in the GP-03. "I'm sure they felt this is what they had to do," she mutters back to you across the comm. Damn. You had no idea you were still transmitting... careless.

But as you near a more or less intact Gelgoog, it feels like your search has actually paid off. A single soldier drifts in the machine, probably out of fuel and low on oxygen at this point. You can feel his fear, his despair, and above all else anger... though at what you can't be sure.

"I've got a live one here," you report, readying your weapons.

>Kill him (d100+15)
>Overkill (d100+15)
>Try and talk him down. Killing him won't make a good impression on your other captives (d100)

On a Mobile Suit development idea, do you think we could work on Beam Tomahawks? Not to steal ideas from ZeonQuest, but because I love the effect on the Sazabi and Sinanju's shields.

>>33519676
Honestly I don't really know. I'm not actually all that keen on Mobile Armor. The idea only really works as "Oh shit boss monster/ Villain of the week." I mean, the idea of the gundams and stuff is generally as a test-bed for weapon systems that can be applied to the cheaper suits, where as the concept of mobile armors, aside from the Big Zam, is generally as horrible intimidation weapons. Although that might just be my own tastes, because the only Mobile Armor I actually like is the Quin Mantha, and that's probably because it's just a big Qubeley.

Eh, I don't really see the Exus and Mobius Zero as true Mobile Armors, their role in the show is more akin to that of the Saberfish in UC. They are essentially fancy space-fighters. I will admit they're pretty cool, as are alot of the grunts in C.E.

Personally I never really understood the in-series fascination for MA. I mean, in the original OYW, Zeon produced a fuckton of them, only to lose most of them to 1 MS.

Seems like a massive waste of resources they could be using to make better MP-MS. Espescially since each one is pretty much a prototype, as thus, costs even *more* than its size would suggest.
>>
>>33520080
Well some were test-beds for technology that wouldn't fit on mobile suits, like the Minovsky Flight Units and the Psycommu, but fuck knows why shit like the Zakrello ever existed.

I mean it's like 'Hey guys, you know those incredibly useful T-34's that were pretty much the most efficent things produced in the war? Instead of making more of them, or improving them, lets spends huge gobs of cash making Wonder Weapons that were generally underpreforming during the war.

No, let's not bother improving the ones that actually worked, like the rocket, let's spend our money developing brand new ones, in fact, let's make like half a dozen independantly from each other because by reinventing the wheel a few times, we might discover something new!

>>33520169
Except that Amuro destroyed a few in the OYW pretty much single-handedly, and that didn't stop them from making more.

You quickly contact the Gelgoog, and find that thankfully its communications system is still operational.

"Yeah, yeah, sieg Zeon and all that bullshit. Seriously, though, you're going to die if you try and keep fighting like you're thinking about doing. And what would you even be dying for?"

The Gelgoog pilot is amazed to hear you addressing his thoughts directly. "How the hell..."

"I can tell what you're thinking," you interrupt him, "not just because I'm a Newtype, but because I'm a soldier. Just as you are."

"So give me one good reason not to destroy that thing!"

"It has an I-Field. You'd be wasting your last efforts," you explain.

"And why shouldn't I kill you, then!?" he screams, pointing his rifle at the Lilium.

A burst from your 110mm cannons knocks the rifle away harmlessly. Man, this guy's so predictable it's pathetic.

"Because you, who have lost sight of what you were once fighting for, could never lay a finger on me. Unlike you, I've never lost my direction. That is why I am strong, and you are weak."

"Weaklings like you have no place on the battlefield. Live your life in peace instead."

You use your suit's thrusters to push the Gelgoog back towards the open hangar of the remaining Musai, and as the pilot drifts away you can feel that his pride has been shattered.

He will never recover as a soldier.

Pretty much. Look up the UMP and M'Qve, that tells you how screwed up Zeek resource management is.
>>
>>33520589
The stuff M'Qve pulled is at least justifiable as Kycillia wanting to keep resources out of Gihren's hands. That's just common sense. The UMP really should have been in place from the beginning, though.
>>
>>33520343
"Audrey," you radio your team, "check over Carya's machine. Make sure the damage isn't too severe."

Carya and Catrina, still unified and in an obvious state of combat readiness, protest. "Dominic! We can still assist with capturing the Musai. It's too risky to..."

"Negative," you respond. "You took that hit because you were worried about me and got distracted, right?"

The sisters remain silent.

"Think about yourselves for once. We'll talk when I get back with the prisoners. Confirm."

The last part wasn't a request, and the sisters know it. They quickly confirm your orders, though they're clearly still hesitant to leave the field before you.

"Defrah, can you cover the Musai's hangars?"

You feel the test pilot pause, likely checking over her remaining weapons loadout. "Yeah," she responds. "You want me to cover you?"

"Unless you mind too much."

"Nah," Defrah replies casually. "I'm gonna have to shut down the I-Field to let it cool down, so turning this into a standoff suits me just fine anyway."

You figure there are two ways you can handle this

>Raise the ship by comm link, tell the crew to leave the ship in the Komusai shuttle

Unless we have a boarding team to bring up to help us, we can't do this in person. Offer to provide them with medical supplies for their wounded but do not let them stay on the ship.

>>33520845
You try and raise the Musai by comm, and receive no response. Your senses tell you the survivor on the bridge knows you're trying to raise them, but they seem frustrated.

There's nothing for it but to go in and establish a contact link, in case their comm relay has simply been damaged. Still, you can't help but feel like something is a bit off about the situation.

Why do people never surrender politely? I mean 3 Mobile Suits and a Mobile Armor destroy 4 Musai, and god knows how many Gelgoogs and Zaku. And yet they still think "Hey let's not surrender peacefully, so we can one day return to our homes and families. "I thought you'd never ask," Defrah replies before pausing. "Oh... you mean your suit. Yeah, I guess I could do that HOLY shit..."

"That can't be good," you mutter across the comm. "Go on, I can deal with it."

"You've got three... no, four leaks. You're venting a LOT of propellant from the damaged areas on your legs and lower torso."

Shit. This wouldn't have been as much of a problem if you'd have caught it earlier.

"I'm purging my remaining propellant," you inform her. "I'll need you to recover me when I'm done."

"Roger," she replies. "All I've got are bigass claws on this thing, but I promise I'll be gentle."

You can practically hear her smirk as you establish contact with the Musai's drab green hull and begin purging your excess propellant.

"Musai class ship, this is Lieutenant Commander O'Hara, EFSF. Who am I speaking to?"

A female voice responds. "Sergeant Blitzen, Principality. Or rather, former Principality."

"Sergeant," you muse. "No Captain?"

The soldier on the other end of the comm link sighs heavily. "I was his secretary... up to the moment he tried to shoot me to keep me from surrendering. Managed to jam my sidearm in his mouth, then..."

Jesus, they've been practically eating each other alive over there. "Sorry," you tell her. "I suppose I'll be working with you, then. Give me a full status report."

"Yes sir," she responds. "We have twenty one survivors, seven wounded, three critically. Main power is offline, reserve is failing, life support is at critical."

"Your shuttle working?"

"Affirmative."

You nod to yourself. "Good. Load your survivors into it and approach the station slowly. So long as you take things in a civil manner, we'll be civil as well. And don't try anything stupid like loading weapons on the shuttle, like that Gelgoog I sent your way."

The sergeant laughs. "Even if we had the power to do something like that, I think I'm the only one who hasn't managed to void their bowels. Don't worry, there's no fight left in us anymore."

It makes for a shambolic return, with your Lilium being princess-carried by the Dendrobium and the shuttle wobbling on approach. Even worse, you see the results of your assault firsthand after arriving at the La Vie en Rose: nearly two dozen Zeon soldiers, all dejected, bloodied, and soiled. Armed guards are ready to escort them to holding cells or to the sickbay, depending on their injuries. Sergeant Blitzen is the only one who comes off that step with anything even remotely resembling self-respect.

A few pressing concerns are at the front of your mind... what do you want to deal with first?

>>
>>33522019
Your first concern isn't the captives, or even your damaged machines. If you've learned even one thing since going to war, it's that for all their resilience human beings can also be fragile sometimes. Haman having to strike at the forces that once were her allies, Reiko and Rossweisse's inability to help in combat, the sisters' fear of losing you and their reckless disregard for their own safety, Karen's strain at having to wait for her teams to return when all she wants as a former pilot is to sortie herself, and Audrey's failure to even get a lock on her targets this time out... the strain of combat is starting to get to them. You can feel it.

Carya and Catrina seem dazed and unfocused, which is unusual and somewhat worrisome. Haman, Rossweisse, and Reiko are sitting together near the psycommu station, eying the damage to your machines nervously. Karen is arguing with a technician over her cigarette: this is a non-smoking area, and she stubbornly refuses to put it out. Audrey is staring at a bulkhead with her fists clenched, and you can see a small ball of blood pooling at her knuckles in the weightlessness.

Man, I don't know where to begin. Maybe just congratulate everyone on getting through this alive? And apologize for worrying them with our own piloting.
>>
>>33522620
The thing is that Newtypes bond *much* more closely that oldtypes. Just by virtue of being able to understand others easier, Newtypes can easily become much closes to people than Newtypes. This is the natural downside of our powers.

Amuro went into PTSD for freaking *years* after accidently killing a girl he knew for like a day.
>>
>>33522708
Ah... is this one of those forced canon moments or something? PTSD for a girl he only knew for a day is stupid. I mean if newtypes could feel everybody, what about the countless mooks that was killed?
>>
>>33522646
Well nothing's actually gone terribly wrong, people just need to be calmed down a bit. A speech is just stupid when people are highly strung like they are. I think all we need to do is be there to calm them down a bit.

Audrey's the main problem atm, from yesterday's thread she's feeling inadequate because she's been plopped in the middle of a super-newtype squad and feels less useful. Honestly I'm not sure how to handle her other than talking to her separately later on and telling her that she was chosen to be in this squad, and that we believe in not just her design skills, but also her piloting ability.
>>
>>33522745
She was also a Newtype, so it was extra traumatic. Mostly because it meant she turned into a ghost and haunted him. And Char gave him all sorts of guilt over it. Then he got put under military house arrest for eight years and had nothing to do but brood. And he still came out of it relatively adjusted. The AEUG rescues him in Zeta and he gets right back into piloting.

They're worried because it could have. We gave the squad a scare, taking those hits. Combine that with half of them not being able to do anything to help and it makes sense they'd feel a bit down. Plus they have their own individual issues. Audrey and her sense of inadequacy, CC and their fears of losing control, Haman having to fight against Zeon forces, Karen worrying that she was going to lose even more friends... it was a big day for everyone.

"Hey, everyone!" you call out. "C'mere, alright? I want to say a few things."

Reluctantly, Audrey turns and approaches where Haman, Rossweisse, and Reiko are gathered. Catrina seems to snap out of her fugue a little and does the same. Karen, however, can't hear you over her argument, and so you walk over to her and snag her cigarette.

"My unit's been leaking fuel like a sieve," you tell her as you snuff it out against one of the hardened plates of your pilot suit before handing it to the technician for disposal. "Come on, Karen, I need to talk to you all."

Once everyone is assembled, you lean up against the psycommu in-between Haman and Rossweisse, tousling their hair a little. "We did pretty good for being outnumbered six to one, I think."

"Eight to one," Reiko corrects you. "A second wave of twelve were attached to the Musais's hulls. We didn't realize we could separate the signatures until after the engagement started."

"Sorry," Karen apologizes. "That scanner Anaheim's got is tricky to use."

"No worries," you reassure them. "Nothing came of it. But even though we're all still alive, I get the feeling you're all having some trouble with the aftermath?"

"We can talk later once Carya's back in the game," Catrina tells you. "Her mind is still recovering from the strain, and I'm barely hanging in there."

"Fine," you tell her. "Take the time you need. Haman? You okay with how things played out?"

Haman shakes her head. "It'll take some time, but yes, I suppose I've collected myself a little. And about earlier... I have something I want to tell you, but later. Now isn't the time, and here isn't the place."

Audrey looks away from you. "I'm sorry I was so useless out there, Dom. You deserved better backup than I gave you. Just another reason to swap me out to noncombat duty, I guess: you don't get to keep fighting if your incompetence puts your squad at risk."

>Response?
>>
>>33523006
"Oh shut up Audrey. You were chosen for this squad, and not just for your analytical skills. You're a good pilot and had a bad day, now get yourselves to the mess and relax a bit, Karen and I have have a secretary to talk to."

Try and keep things light, again I'm not sure how to motivate Audrey, but we'll just have to make do for now.

Newtypes bond incredibly quickly, Amuro and Lalah, Kamille and Four, Judau and everyone in ZZ. Being able to pretty much understand someone on an incredibly intamate level almost instantly means that Newtypes form bonds with eachother incredibly quickly. Being able to form an incredibly intense relationship almost instantly comes with the downside of losing them being like losing your best friend or something.

Note that close doesn't equal good, hate and love being two sides of a coin, blah, blah, blah. Nevertheless, even Paptimus Scirocco, a psycopath (or sociopath, I can never tell the difference.) who used his powers to coldly create himself a harem that he was pulling the strings of, seemed affected when Sarah bit the dust.

"It's hard not to get cocky with out shiny new Gundams, but we have to remember that these are experienced vetrans from the OYW, using top-of-the-line Zeon suits. Despite the power and strides these new MS have made, a Gundam is just as vulnerable as a GM to a beam rifle.

It's easy to dissmiss our enemies because they're 'only' using Gelgoogs and Musais, but their deadliness hasn't decreased since the OYW.

It's not a matter of competence, I was just complacent since the end of the OYW, I guess that I've gotten rather rusty in these years of peace."

Or something less douchy than that.

This engagement was extremely chaotic and there isn't a single member of the team who didn't make a mistake during it, myself included. Don't assume that your difficulties today are representative of your value. You ARE a skilled pilot, despite what you may think, and I'd hate to lose your talents."

"Shut up, Audrey," you tell her to her surprise. "The magical Gundam-building hobo picked you for the job: not just as an analyst but as a combat pilot."

You hear a few snickers at the mention of Doc Ward, but press on. "So you had a bad day. Big deal, you'll have plenty more where that came from. Hell, even I nearly got fucked over because I wasn't paying attention to my instruments. So just figure out what went wrong, fix it, and keep moving. You're still a skilled pilot, and even if you can't see it right now I can."

After a moment, she shuts her eyes. "Right. I'll run a diagnostic later to start off, but for now I want to get some rest."

Reiko raises her hand. "I'll make sure Anaheim prioritizes our repairs," she volunteers. You nod at her in agreement before she leaves.

"Get some rest while you can, everyone. You're on call, but barring any unforseen problems we'll start again fresh tomorrow."

As your teammates rise to return to their quarters, you muse over your options

"Karen," you say as you extend an arm to stop her.

"Dominic? What's going on?"

"You curious about what our captive Sergeant has to say?"

She shrugs. "Since I'm apparently not allowed to smoke, sure. That sounds like a fine use of my time. I'll let you take the lead... you do that whole "understanding" thing. Scares the shit outta me, but damned if it isn't effective."

Sergeant Blitzen is being held in a separate room from the other survivors, likely due to the fact that her status as secretary to the dead Captain is no secret at this point. She's under guard by Anaheim's private security when you enter the office and sit down across from her. Not the ideal interrogation chamber, but it'll do in a pinch.

Besides, you'd have your own concerns if Anaheim had a dedicated room for that on the station.

"So, Sergeant," you begin. "Why are you here?"

"You captured me?" she asks, confused by the question.

"He means why did you attack the station?" Karen asks, burying her face in her hands.

"Orders. We received word of a leak and were sent to assault the facility in order to remove the Gundam being developed here from the equation."

To what end, though?

"Orders from whom, may I ask? And what equation are you talking about here?"

The Sergeant shakes her head. "I'm sorry, it's just I really shouldn't say anything else..."

"If you cooperate, I'll buy you dinner."

>99

"I can't be bought that easily," the Sergeant insists.

"Fresh food," you rejoin, and you sense her interests have been piqued. "Steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, steamed vegetables... anything you want. On me."

The Sergeant's will falters. "Do you have... Yorkshire puddings?"

Jackpot.

Fifteen minutes later, three plates of steak and vegetables with Yorkshire puddings and gravy sit half-eaten on the conference table between yourself and Sergeant Blitzen. Her mouth still full, she's trying to tell you something about her unit's orders.

"Swallow, Sergeant Blitzen. It's rude to talk with your mouth full."

The Sergeant takes a swig of wine and swallows her food. "Like I was saying, I don't know who our source was, but it was someone within the Federation government itself. It seemed it was someone high up enough that even considering the source, Admiral Delaz treated it as worth investigating... with an over-strength flotilla, what's more."

"So it was meant to take out the GP-03?" you ask to confirm what you already sort of suspected.

"Precisely," Blitzen confirms. "So it must've been someone who knew about what was going on here. I assume that sort of information is pretty well restricted within the Federation, so that leaves either a disgruntled technician or a political figure or officer with something to gain by the GP-03's destruction."

"And given what you said before," Karen concludes, "it's probably one of the latter options, leaving only twenty possible suspects or so. Admiral Kowen would probably know where to start investigating further."

It's the same setting, only we're on the other side, who actually won the war. (as what happened in the show.)
Now we're preparing for the sequel, by trying to prevent the Titans from rising into power.

Basically, we're trying to prevent Dick Cheney from using 9/11 from turing the CIA and NSA into a military orginization that's superior to the Armed Forces, and then decides to try to usurp power, all the while employing psycopaths and committing warcrimes left and right.
Which is hilarious, because the series was made like 15 years before 9/11 happened.

>>

We don't need it. The GP04 isn't that great. It's solidly middle-range as Gundams go. Impressive enough compared to your average mobile suit, but the Liliums outclass it. It might be worthwhile as a machine for Audrey, though, if she's having trouble keeping up with Newtype-use mobile suits.

To be fair, as much as I hate the 'canon is unchangeable' mentality this is a case where I'd argue that's correct.

I mean, as much as Gato fucked shit up, Zeon already earned themselves plenty of ire from the Battle of Loum, the OYW in general, and Operation British.

A lot of anti-Muslim sentiment sprouted up post-9/11, and Zeon's actions were WAAAAAAAAAY worse than that.

"We should inform both Kowen and Nina about what we've learned," you tell Karen. "This problem just got a whole hell of a lot bigger if it's true that someone in a position of power leaked data about GP-03 to the Delaz fleet."

Karen nods in agreement. "I'll see to it they're both informed. Nina will probably be pissed that we're interrupting her testing for such mundane issues as espionage."

You shake your head. "If we imply there's a threat to her Gundams she'll protect them like a mother bear protecting her cubs," you reply. "This can only be a good thing."

"This is all great, in theory," Karen replies with a frown. "But if we want to prove anything later we need evidence beyond the word of one secretary. No offense."

"None taken," Blizten replies, waving off your comment nonchalantly. "I can help you gather that intel, if you'd like."

"How so?" you ask her.

She grins as she sips at her wine. "Not only am I talented at a variety of everyday tasks and shipboard operations, I happen to have a head for codes and data security."

"Oh yeah?" Karen asks skeptically. "Prove it."

The Sergeant closes her eyes, and if you focus on her mind you can feel a distinct impression of movement. Her eyes move back and forth behind her eyelids for several seconds before she opens them again. Taking a nearby pen and scrap of paper, she writes down a string of digits

Note that the original point was about Revil, rather than 'best Zeon antagonist.'

Even though Gihren was the BBEG, I still preferred Revil to him, since a good chunk of Gihren's difficulty was 'splitting our forces in half' as opposed to General 'Imma fuck your plans up' Revil.

Gihren was a logistical enemy and Revil was a Tatical and Strategic enemy, while Gihren was more effective, both in success and sheer hatred, Revil was more enjoyable to face, as opposed to GODDAMMIT GIHREN.

>Haman
I feel like dealing with the sisters will probably be a very involved task. Haman only said she has something she needs to tell us. We should talk to Haman first then we have the rest of the day for the sisters.
>>

>>Haman and Rossweisse are together, and Haman at least wanted to talk to you about something

>Bing killed I can understand, but surrendering, really?
Zeon threatened to capture Revil and personally have every soldier gunned down in front of his face. Gelgoogs, man. Fucking Gelgoogs.

Revil was also busy trying to stop Federation soldiers from firing off all of Jaburo's nukes into South America and irradiating everything.

No, it was fire the Apsalus III again and wipe everyone out.

>>
>>33525638
Yeah, because capturing Revil worked so well the first time they did it.

Whatever, it probably sounds more probable in the quest, but hearing that Zeon convinced Revil of all people to surrender sounds too far-fetched for me.

>Haman and Rossweisse narrowly win
The two newest members of your team are in their quarters at the moment, so that's where you head. After all, knowing the sisters as well as you do a problem severe enough for them to bring it to you instead of handling it themselves is going to take some time to sort out. In fact, they've both shown a tendency to avoid anything the felt would be a burden to you for as long as you've been together.

You find yourself knocking on the door next to your own quarters, despite knowing full well that the young Newtypes inside can tell you're there. It's just that sort of feeling you get that a careful approach would be best.

"Come in, Dominic," you hear Haman tell you from inside.

Both she and Rossweisse are sitting on their bunks... the tension is almost something you can feel. On the one hand, you're pretty sure you know what it is Haman wants to discuss with you. On the other, there's an off chance you might be wrong about it, and end up walking into a massive misunderstanding.

Nobody seems to want to talk first.

Players didn't want martyrs, and threw him in a mansion.

Also, Revil reasoned that the Federation would rise again in ten years if the Apsalus didn't kill everyone. Lo and behold, we have Karaba and Titans, while Char stabs Zeon in the back.

"So, what'd you want to talk to me about, Haman? Is everything alright?"

Rossweisse reaches up and grabs you by your sleeve, pulling you down to sit next to her while Haman puzzles over what to say next. The feeling you get from them tells you fairly clearly that things are about to get complicated.

"I'm not a particularly nice person, Dominic," Haman tells you, choosing her words with great deliberation. "I get jealous easily, I'm possessive, and I have a lot of trouble taking no for an answer. What I want, I get, either through hard work or manipulation, if I have to."

You shake your head in confusion. "Where is this going, Haman? Why are you saying all this?"

Haman rests her forehead against her palm, and shuts her eyes. "I'm sure Carya and Catrina have already observed this much, but Newtypes like the five of us tend to 'imprint' on each other. We share a level of instinctive understanding, and sometimes attraction, that binds us irrevocably: though the nature of the binds may change, their existence never falters."

"And you're saying this from experience?"

"I've only formed two bonds like that in my life: once was with Commander Char, who thoroughly spurned my every attempt to get closer to him. The second such bond, I've formed over the last few months... with you."

It takes a few seconds for the admission to sink in. You kind of suspected that was the case, and she hasn't exactly confessed some kind of undying love for you or anything like that, but to hear it out in the open makes the whole issue suddenly feel more pressing. More real.

Rossweisse nods quietly. "I too," she says in a soft voice that you rarely hear, "feel bound to you and your team. I do not understand it yet, but I feel it."

"I've been trying to just ignore it, Dominic. I know you've been with the Marseille sisters since forever... but I can't ignore it anymore," Haman concludes. "I don't know where this is going."

Yeah too bad Revil considers thounsands and thousands of tanks and bombers a single unit.

Seriously, that's the entire point of them teaming up, Creed maneuvers troops everywhere with his Tatical Genius, and Revil provides obscene amounts of conventional troops. Having Creed unable to flank with more than three units when teamed up with Creed kinda wastes Revil's talent, especially when ZEON HAD THE SOLAR RAY, NOT THE EFF!

>>33526467

>>
>>33526467
If this is a Newtype thing that makes us unable to have a choice in the matter, then it behooves us all to take a step back and exert some control over the proceedings.

We knew CC forever, yes. And only /now/, after all that time, have we made the step we just made. Haman and Ross are both wonderful girls, but they shouldn't feel pressured to do anything reckless simply because of what is effectively emotional backwash. We do care for them, they do care for us, but even with Newtypes we need to let time have it's say.

So ain't nothing happening unless there's a date first.

or something. I'm tired, I may have completely missed the point.

Haman shakes her head, and you can tell that she means it. "This started long before that."

"Alright," you tell her after taking a moment to clear your head. "I understand. And I'm sorry, but I can't even begin to guess what's going to happen from here either. I appreciate your honesty, and I hope we can figure something out."

Haman glances up at you. "Does that mean..."

"No," you reply. "At least, not for sure. But Carya, Catrina and I discussed this eventuality, and they seemed amazingly open about how it would play out if some sort of emotional bond ever formed like this."

Haman nods. "Of course you guessed this might happen. Figures." Rossweisse presses her shoulder into yours.

"So all I can say is that while I'm not going to shoot you down, we should take things carefully. I want you both to be absolutely sure of what you want out of our bond before we do something we might regret later."

Both of the young women nod thoughtfully.

"And besides," you add, "it's not like the sisters and I even got together right away... though in that case protocol got in the way. And we started off as enemies trying to kill each other, so that was a whole phase."

"So anything is possible?" Rossweisse concludes in a near-whisper.

"Sounds that way," Haman agrees. "Okay. I think I can live with that for now. I'm just happy to have it off my shoulders."

The two young Newtypes show you out the door. "Thanks for understanding, Dominic," Haman tells you. "Truly, thank you."

Then she shuts the door.

So really, what's it matter if it's two or three?"..."So yeah," they conclude in unison, "just don't be a dick about it and see what happens. If you think your relationship with her would be better that way, and she's okay with it, and you're okay with it, then go for it. Even if I felt strongly one way or the other, I'd get over it. Okay, one last crazy girl to deal with. Dominic really needs some male friends, if only to have someone to commiserate with. I suggest we bust Amuro out of house arrest and recruit him. Being a Newtype himself, he knows how these sort of situations can go. He'd probably be the only person we could complain about how there are too many girls after us to without getting punched in return. And it would have great thematic pairing of our ace titles. Uhhh no he doesn't.
It's 0083, meaning that Amuro's still has open wounds from the OYW and is currently mourning Lalah. Sayla also decided to ditch him, and become irrelevant to the series.

The only other women in Amuro's life are Matila (dead, and was already with someone else) and Frau Bow, who A: he wasn't interested in, and B: Fucking Hayato.

We'd get more help asking Karen than we would Amuro atm.

I was thinking more about the rapid Newtype bonding in general, not specifically women. But you have a point, he would have some issues to work through that could be an issue. Though the only reason Sayla left Amuro was because her voice actress wasn't available during the production of Zeta, no reason she couldn't still be with him in this timeline. He is the father of her child in most of the non-canon continuities, after all.

>>
>>33527025
This time, you don't even bother to knock. The sisters know you're there, and you can feel that they want you to be with them... and you can feel that they want your help. Stepping into your quarters, you find that the lights are all off.

"Close the door," comes a quiet voice. "You're letting out the darkness. Or you're letting in the light. Same thing, really."

Slightly confused, you do as the sisters requested.

"Are you going to be okay?"

"Probably," Carya tells you. "In a little while."

"It's like the world's worst hangover," Catrina adds. "Like, gallon of gin levels of suck."

"What's wrong?" you ask. Something is definitely wrong here, and you're not sure what.

"It was the sex, Dom. Then it was the battle. That's what happened," Carya explains.

"The sex was fine," Catrina argues aloud. "That, I could live with. Mostly it was the fighting, and the dying."

"That's never bothered you before," you observe. "What was different this time?"

"You know we can merge, right?" Catrina continues.

"Yes. It happened again?"

"Both times on its own accord," Carya explains. "It seems whenever our emotions are running especially high it triggers an episode. And where you're concerned, our emotions are always running high."

"There's something more to it than that, isn't there?" you ask.

"Yes," Carya admits. "We feel everything twice as much in that state... pleasure, love, fear, hate. The suffering of those around us on the battlefield."

"It makes for great sex," Catrina adds in a tired voice, "but it turns battles into a living hell, even for a hardened veteran. Wost part is the loss of control."

Then you'll always know if I'm safe or not, I won't be able to make you worry anymore. Though that only removes a trigger, not the actual problem. Second is that we continue working on getting control over the merges. I don't know how it feels on the inside, but it definitely looks like you've gotten better at controlling them. And it helped when I was there to bring you out of them, it might be possible to learn to do that at a distance even during battle. The final option is, and I hate to suggest this because I don't ever want to imply I don't believe in you two, but it might be necessary to remove you from combat duty. Do you think we'll have to? And if we did, do you think the decrease in symptoms would make up for the increase in quantity of incidents that the worry could cause?"
>>
>>33527583
>Response?
They don't have to wallow in that emotional cesspool alone, do they?
If there's a way to figure out a method for them to "shunt" some of that excess into Dominic, I think he'd be willing to carry a part of that burden to relieve the twins.

For now, rest and recuperation should be the priority for CC until the riskier side-effects (primarily that loss of control) can be safely dealt with.
>>
>>33527885
That's what I was thinking, if extreme emotions bring them together, being able to calm down at will would be handy.
>>
>>33527583
"Can you fight?" you ask her seriously.

The sisters laugh softly to themselves. "In this condition? Hell no. But by the time our machines are ready again, we should be back to normal... or something close to it anyway."

You sigh in frustration, and feel your way towards them in the dark. They're sitting on the floor in the corner, leaning up against the walls, and so you sit next to them. You pull the sisters in close, squeezing them around the shoulders. The feeling between the three of you is one of undeniable comfort and reassurance.

"How do I help you?" you ask. "Could we try meditating? More training to handle the form under stress? A break from combat ops? What do you need?"

Carya rests her head against you. "I dunno, Dom. I wish I knew. But short of turning ourselves over to those butchers at Oakland or Murasame, I don't think anyone will ever really understand what the fuck we've become, or how this whole thing works."

"And I'm not letting us set foot in either of those shitholes," Catrina adds. "Fuuuuuck that noise."

"Could you maybe just try and overpower the negative emotions with something else?" you ask suddenly. "Something stronger?"

The sisters pause, pondering this new possible solution. "Maybe it really is that simple," Carya replies, "and maybe it isn't."

"I'm not going anywhere," you remind them, leaning your head against Carya's. "We'll figure it out together."

"Yeah," Catrina replies lazily. "Carya's body ain't gonna be awake much longer. You'll have to fill us in on what happened with Haman and Rossweisse... we know you... were..."

You sit awake for a long while in the dark, well after Carya and Catrina lost consciousness, musing on how your life will probably never be simple again.

I'm just excited about the new torso units. I know it'll be a while until their completed, but once they are the Liliums will outclass every other mobile suit out there. I hope they live up to the hype. I'd also like to, if at all possible, acquire the limb design of the GM Quel. It's the predecessor of the movable frame technology, and would increase our reaction times nicely. But that's not likely to be available anytime soon, either.

As for things we're likely to get in a reasonable timeframe, though, I'd like to outfit the Twin Hyper Rifles with beam jittes. There's honestly little reason not to make that upgrade to every one of our guns. I'd also be interested in acquiring some shield binders. Having a pair of sub-arms to hold them would remove most of the problems we had with the shields' weight slowing our reaction times. Plus it means we could start experimenting with Aubrey's waverider ideas. Though if we really want flight it would be better to invest in Base Jabbers. Aubrey said she was looking into getting some built for us, didn't she?
