>=[| MAY, 1940 ]|=<

Something rumbles out in the distance. You flutter your eyes open and have yourself a big yawn. It must have been the Germans and the British going at it again. The newspapers have not been very optimistic with their past reports of German victory again and again and again. You felt yourself feel sick to stomach reading it. The horror of war was coming back to France. It took your grandfather and his two brothers after all, and it has left you alone in this house.

You grumble a bit, trying to shut your eyes. Then the rumbling starts shaking the house.

No, go away damn it. Merde, can’t you get some sleep? Yesterday at the café was murder on you, you do not need a tank crushing your house again.

You hear the plates in the kitchen jingle and the windows shake and bend, and the rumbling finally climaxes into an explosion of sound. Like grinding metal.

You bury your head beneath the pillow. For the love of God, sleep.

… damn it. Now you can’t sleep. Your curiosity is getting the better of you. Your father did warn you about that.

… well, you might as well investigate. Maybe you’ll get lucky and it’ll be a handsome British pilot for you to quarter until he can return to England.

Ah, oui… the Royal Air Force pilots.

Irrelevant however. You throw off your sheets, leaving you in only your dark green silk nightgown. You look at yourself in the mirror. A young 15 year old girl, shorter than average, messy black hair reaching past the shoulders, green eyes. Your father always did say you had your mother’s eyes. Oh, how you wish God had not taken your mother so soon, and at birth as well.

But, it’s all in his plan you reckon. You stand and grab the lantern, giving it a quick light. You grab a black trenchcoat for warmth, then march out of your modest little house in the field. You look out to see smoke, rising from the nearby forest, obscuring the night stars and the moon. Maybe it was a British pilot. Oh, that would be lovely!

Then again, your father would not approve.

Where is your father now however?

You shake your head. He talked of heroism, and of conviction. But when it came time to act, and to put his life on the line for others, he choked. You don’t want to say good riddance to him, he is your father. But if you could see him now, you’d probably slap him in the face hard enough to turn him into Henry Fonda. The poor man.

Bushes and shrubs start poking at you as you enter the forest. Wearing nothing but a nightgown and a trenchcoat, you might as well be naked. But the Germans you hear are respectable at least. At least, the ones you read about in the newspapers. There have been rumors going around from retreating British soldiers that they are being pursued by someone they describe as, “Savage”. You hope they are false.

You sniff the air. Something is burning. You start turning towards the source, then you blink. It’s a fire. You hold your lantern up high to light your path as you continue walking down the forest. Perhaps it’s a crashed plane? Or perhaps it’s a tank?

Once you shove through a bush and past a few tree branches, you see it now. It’s a great big sleek metallic capsule, as big as a tank. It is charred in some areas, with some bulbous protrusions like dots or very big rivets. It’s…

LORD IN MERCY, THIS IS LIKE H. G. WELLS’ BOOK.

Suddenly, the capsule opens up with a hiss of white smoke.

> Investigate further. Perhaps these are friendly Martians!

You swallow deeply. Every fiber in your being is saying to make like the French girl you are and run away. There wouldn’t even be any shame in running away, this is a Martian craft! You could be rendered to ashes in an instant under the intense scrutiny of a Heat Ray! And that actually be kind of amazing! But terrifying!

However, with that swallow, you swallow your fear. You make an apprehensive approach to the capsule.

Then a hand reaches out. You’re not ashamed to say that you screamed like the little girl you are.

A Martian, a humanoid being with a red face, dark eyes, and a strange fashion of black and green clothing crawls out of the capsule. It groans, then collapses into a heap next to it. Is it… injured? You walk closer to it.

“Excusez-moi,” you say.

Ah, what the heck are you doing!? Martians aren’t going to know French.

It reaches out to you, holding a strange glowing ring. It shakes the ring to you.

… does it want you to wear it?

> Take the Ring

You carefully take the ring from the palm of his hand. It feels light, and yet hard. It glows green, and it is green, as if it were a Jade from the Orient. The only distinguishing mark is this mysterious emblem, like a light, an O with two bars on top and bottom. A lantern. You look down at the poor stricken Martian. He carefully makes a gesture with his fingers, for you to put it on.

Welp. You suppose your life could go in weirder directions. You carefully slide the ring on your middle finger.

“Good…” You flinch backwards, to see him look at you with sad, injured eyes. He speaks with a gravelly voice, as if a man on death’s door. “You must… take care of that ring. It will be your light in the darkness. It will… serve as you… as a Green Lantern.”

You tilt your head. Huh? “What?” you say. “What are you saying?”

“You… must take the mantle from me. Protect this sector… from darkest day, and blackest night.” He rests his head back, shutting his eyes. You kneel down towards him. Wait! What is he saying!? Green Lantern!? What!?

This isn’t like H. G. Wells’ book at all!

You grab his arm, he is limp. This ring.

> Hide him.

… what. What was that.

> Me. The ring.

You look down at the ring.

> Do not panic. I am advising you as to how best proceed. For now, you must hide Abin Sur’s body and his craft.

… okay. Well. This is the weirdest dream. This has to be a dream.

> This is not a dream.

Okay then. How should you hide the body? You’re in a dense forest, there’s a small fire raging, and you have a big Martian body to hide now.

You focus. You start picturing something in your head. Smother… sand… BUCKET!

Your hand is pulled up by a force of its own, then a great beam of energy projects a bucket of sand the size of your house. Wow. You didn’t think this would work. You quickly dump the entire thing on the fire and the capsule, smothering the fire out, burying the capsule and the Martian.

You sigh. Wow. That was a bit tiring but… wow. You just smothered a fire using a bucket of sand coming from this magical ring-

WAIT. This is what it is. It’s MAGIC!

Okay. Okay. And… BLAST

The bottle explodes thanks to a blast of magical energy from the ring. You giggle, clapping quickly for your triumph. After giving the Martian a proper burial, you’ve set up a little shooting range for yourself in the house’s backyard with your Father’s wine collection. It’s not like he’ll come back for his 1935 Champagne anyway.

Now, you sigh and focus. Focus. You give another bottle a blast. It explodes into glass and wine all over the range. You laugh. This is amazing! “C’est horrible!” you say playfully.

> It is advised that you do not use your charge too much. It is limited.

Quiet, ring! You’re practicing!

> Very well.

You blast another bottle. And another bottle! Wait, this time you pick up the bottle and spill it with a magical green hand! Exquisite! Ahaha!

Only Alan Scott is in the same league as a Kryptionian. Pre-New52 he was the embodiment of the Starheart, a condensed ball of all the magic in Earth 2's universe and was also a being of pure will.
New52 Alan is still pretty damn powerful, but we haven't really gotten to see him do much aside from kick the shit out of an army of Parademons and come back to life (twice)

Standard GLs are still pretty powerful, but they aren't super tier unless they're currently joined with an entity or a white lantern.

What kind of charge limit does this ring have? If it's the every 24 hours type, it won't lose charge until those 24 hours are up, at which point it goes straight to 0%. If it's like the newer rings, it doesn't have a timer, and can be drained from use.

Hal Jordan killed a guy that should have been unkillable, the first GLs to ever wield rings were sent against an enemy that had been laying waste to entire star systems and expected to cripple them to the point they would not be a threat anymore. There were four of them.

> It’s an heirloom!

«It is an heirloom, Monsieur Batiste!»

Monsieur Batiste crosses his arms. «Heirloom? Really?»

«Oui! Oui! Heirloom, my mother had it passed on from her mother, and her mother, and then her mother, you get the process, oui?» He nods. «Très bien! Well, I must go get changed, Monsieur Batiste. Merci beaucoup for waking me. Adieu, Monsieur!»

You quickly turn to run to your house with the lantern in tow. Monsieur Batiste stands for a bit, skeptical, but he eventually relents and goes back to his farm. You’ve been relying on him lately to wake you up to go to work at Monsieur LaPetit’s café. He seems cross at that.

But, you quickly don a nice dress, and grab your apron as well. You look at your ring. On the one hand, it looks very pretty. Goes well with your eyes in fact! But… it looks very pretty. It might draw attention.

That's the DCAMU though, technically in the comics the first Lantern was Volthoom, who was retardedly powerful, but for other reasons as well.
Even if the Animated Movies were canon to this, that Lantern would be most likely bonded to Ion. Canon Rings don't display that level of power without outside influence.

>>34040905
Yes, I'm aware how a ring recharges. However the rings have changed over the years, first removing the 24 hour time limit and then removing the yellow impurity.

> Take it with you

Much as you’d like to wear it, you decide to keep it safe for now. For now, you turn the face of the ring inward. And from there, it just looks like an innocuous little ring. Perfect. Right then, you quickly brush your hair back into a neat little ponytail, then give a good smile. You’re ready to wait tables at the café.

You run out the door, a piece of toast hanging from your mouth. You wave as Monsieur DeWitt’s wagon comes along for the ride into town. «Ah! Monsieur DeWitt!» Merde, you almost lose the toast. You take it out quickly. «Monsieur DeWitt! I need a ride, please!»

He smiles at you, like he would smile at his nine daughters. The man gets busy over the winter. «Hop on, Lumière!» You run to the back of the wagon and sit down on a bit of wheat. Monsieur DeWitt snaps his horse to attention, driving it a bit faster along the dirt road along to the café.

It’s only a few kilometer’s ride to Dunkirk.

You run along the deserted streets of Dunkirk. Most people have left in the face of the German invasion. For now, you don’t think they’ll be coming any time soon, but you hear they are close. Still, some people make out an eager living, and occasionally you even see a British soldier or a tank drive through. Amazing things!

«Lumière!» You run up to the rather portly Monsieur LaPetit. «You are late again! How will this look for my business if my waitress cannot even arrive on time!»

> I’m sorry, Monsieur LaPetit.

You frown, eating up the last of your toast. «I’m very sorry, Monsieur LaPetit. I was a bit busy last night with something so I woke up a bit late this morning.»

«Ah, whatever!» he says dismissively. «Come, come. It is about to come to the lunch rush and I need you waiting tables NOW.»

The modest little café only has one patron for the so-called “Lunch Rush”. And that is the only regular left in town, Monsieur Pierre. Handsome man, but an old injury kept him from being drafted in the war. You grab a plate and a rag and walk over to him. «Bienvenue, Monsieur Pierre. May I take your order?»

«Oui! The regular coffee, please.» You are quick to write the order down, then head into the kitchen and stick it to the counter for the chef, Monsieur DeAndre. «Ah, Madamoiselle Lumière, have you heard the news?» You shake your head, and Monsieur Pierre is quickly to explain that: «The Germans have broken through. The British are in full retreat, a lot of them just passed by last night in fact. They’re trying to retreat back to England across the channel. »

«That’s terrible!»

Monsieur Pierre says, «Now, I know your father has already turned tail and ran. But what about you? The Germans will close quick, and it is not likely they will be kind. »

You look inside the kitchen. Monsieur LaPetit is yelling at Monsieur DeAndre, who simply ignores it as he continues cleaning the dishes. Patient man, Monsieur DeAndre. You decide to step outside for a second to see what all the fuss is about.

You’re nearly barreled over by a running British soldier. “Oi! Sorry, lass!” is all he says before he recovers and runs. He doesn’t even come back for his helmet that he dropped. More British soldiers run by, and then you see the source of the noise. It’s a British army truck, smoking from the engine.

“The fooking lorry’s stalled out! We cannae get it runnin’!” yells the Driver. Wait. You can understand him! “Ah, bloody fooking shite! The manky fooking engine’s probably got shite all over the flair and Dame Judy coming fae da exhaust!”

Okay, you can only somewhat understand him.

“Get it working, McGraff!” yells his passenger in the cab. “We have to get these wounded boys out!”

McGraff yells, “I cannae get working! Da fooking Jerries are right behind us!”

“Ah!” The passenger, a Lieutenant you realize, slams on the dashboard. “Fine! We’ll ferry them out! One by one!” He and McGraff step out of the truck, then the Lieutenant sees you. “Hey, you! Help us! Get us something to get the wounded out!”

Alright. Think. You need to think! THINK! REPAIRS! REPAIRS-

The ring projects a book. “How to repair Austin K2/Y Trucks”.

… huh. Okay. You suppose that’ll help. You quickly start flipping through it.

“Oi, does she have a fooking book back there?” McGraff turns his head to look back, but is stopped by the Lieutenant.

“Patience, McGraff,” says the Lieutenant.

Okay, you know what the problem is. It’s the starter motor. Just needs a quick fix. You use your ring to simply fix it up nice and simple, and there! “Okay,” you say. “Try it now!” You will the book away, just before they turn to you. McGraff hops into the truck, then the truck starts up again.

“Well, good show, old lady!” says the Lieutenant. He pats you on the head, and you giggle a bit at that. “Alright, McGraff, full speed to the channel!” He looks at you. “Listen, you better lie low for now. A pretty face like yours isn’t going to escape that savage’s notice.”

You blink. “Why? Who is he?”

The Lieutenant sighs, then says, “He’s SS. Works directly for Hitler, some say even directs some of his actions. Point is, he’s rolling down here like a bat out of hell, and he’s going to drive all of us right into the channel.”

You smile at him. “Thank you, Lieutenant. How will I recognize him?”

The Lieutenant shrugs. “Eh, some say he’s got a beard, others say he’s eight feet tall. I’d say the beard. Anyway, we have to go, now. Take care of yourself.” He quickly runs into the passenger seat and waves to you. McGraff immediately floors it, and the ambulance truck immediately rolls off in a cloud of dust. You hope they make it.

« Lumière! Where have you been!? We’ve got sales to do, customers to serve! » Oh boy, Monsieur LaPetit. You quickly run back into the café. Time to take orders from an empty café once again!

A few more hours pass. You’ve already had your free lunch courtesy of Monsieur DeAndre. Thusly, you simply sit at a table. Waiting.

Monsieur LaPetit checks out the door. « What’s wrong? » you ask.

« The Germans, they will be here any minute, » he says. His face bears an expression of fear, concern, and a bit of anger as well. « I feel like I have made a mistake staying here. »

« Be brave, Monsieur LaPetit. » You give him your best smile. He smiles back at you, then continues looking outside. Then you hear the ground rumbling a bit. The glasses on the tables shake. You can feel the street to shake.

Tanks.

« Lumière, you should go, » he says quietly.

You cross your arms. « Monsieur. I am a woman of France. I will not run because we are supposedly conquered. »

Monsieur DeAndre buses a few tables idly. « Strong girl. That will get you hurt one day. »

Finally, the tables shake as a tank rolls up on the street. The Panzer III. You had read about these tanks, medium tanks designed to fight other tanks. But they faltered at the sight of the B1bis. This one bears the seal of the Nazi SS on the side of the turret, as its commander pokes his head out of the turret. A few soldiers ride alongside on the back, and more trucks and armored vehicles follow behind in a column. You look out the window to see what citizens are left shutting their windows and locking their doors. Even Monsieur LaPetit runs into the kitchen to hide.

The column stops as the soldiers walking along the street continue on. Monsieur DeAndre goes into the kitchen to check on Monsieur LaPetit, leaving you in the café by yourself.

You see the Commander, an SS colonel, communicate with a Lieutenant on the tank. They appear to be in heated discussion but you can’t make out what they’re saying.

You quietly open up the door and step out. The German soldiers passing by nod to you, greet you politely and amicably as well you start to cross the street behind the tank.

The Lieutenant says to the Colonel, « Colonel Savage, the Fuhrer has ordered all advance is to be stopped! Our flanks are not secure, and we don’t have- »

Colonel Savage cuts him off. « The Fuhrer, will understand why I have disobeyed him. Does he want to win this war? We have the enemy running from us, dropping men and materiel on the streets, that’s how desperate they are! We will either crush them under our treads or drown them in the channel by nightfall! But we will not stop this advance! Leutnant, you will keep advancing your men to the beaches, and you put fire on those Tommies. Is that understood? »

Oh no. The British. They’ll be killed. All of them.

« Jawohl, mein kommandant! » The Lieutenant gives him a sharp salute, a Nazi salute, then drops off the tank.

Colonel Savage yells, «Wait! » The Lieutenant turns back. « No prisoners. » The Lieutenant nods, then directs his men to run forward.

Of course. The British troopers will be vulnerable evacuating across the channel. You stand there, thinking. You need to do something. Colonel Savage looks down at you, then smirks as he directs his Panzer III down the street, forward to victory.

Not if you have anything to do with it.

You sit down in an alleyway. You look around, nope, no one in earshot. Good, they won’t hear you talking to your ring like some madwoman. “Um… ring? Can you talk to me?”

> Do you request assistance?

“Oui, I just…” You bite your lip. “What do I do? I don’t want those British soldiers to die but… d-do I have to kill those Germans?”

> The Green Lantern Corps normally prohibits the direct death of any sentient being. Exceptions can be made in extraordinary cases.

“So… well…” Ugh. This is too much. You want to help, but… you don’t want to kill anyone doing it. No one deserves to die. That’s just not right. Everyone has the chance for redemption, right?

> Yes.

Wait. What?

> We are communicating with you via your mind. How do you think we were actually communicating?

Um. Magic?

> Okay.

“Just.” You decide to say this out loud. “Help me, help me forward.”

> We have noticed that you have not taken the oath.

“Oath?”

> Yes. Oui in your language.

> En plein jour et dans la nuit noire,
> Nul mal n’échappe à mon regard.
> Suppôts du mal, craignez votre perte
> Prenez garde et craignez la lumière de Lanterne Verte!

> That is the oath in your language. Take the oath, and then you shall know how best to proceed forward.

You blink, looking at the ring. You feel apprehensive. This is a matter of life and death however, and sometimes, you just have to let your instinct guide you in these times of trials and tribulation. You bring the ring up to your lips, and quietly whisper the oath.

In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil’s might,
Beware my power, Green Lantern’s Light!

You feel yourself recharged, as if gaining extraordinary power all of a sudden. Now to let gut instinct guide you.

You need to get to the beach before the Germans do.

> You will need to fly then.

Oh boy. You look up at the clear blue skies. Well. First time for everything. You feel yourself be engulfed by the magical energies of the ring, like being immersed in a warm swimming pool. Suddenly, your clothes start disappearing. You start covering yourself to remain modest, only to see that they’re not just disappearing. They’re being replaced.

You gain black thigh highs, with green stripes running down their length. A black miniskirt covers your bottom. On your chest, a green blouse armored up by a black chestplate with the Lantern emblem in the center. You also gain black elbow length gloves in the process as well. And finally, a black domino mask covering your eyes.

Wow. This is not like Doc Savage. Not even Flash Gordon.

> Now fly.

Is this a bad time to say that you’ve never flown before.

> The powers of the ring will handle it.

You sigh, then shut your eyes. You feel weightless all of a sudden, then slowly but surely you feel yourself be catapulted into the air.

You can’t even feel the wind in your eyes. Good thing, you can’t help yourself but smile. You’re flying! You’re actually flying! You spread your arms, like a bird as you take flight to the beaches of Dunkirk.

You blast through clouds, and find yourself flying side-by-side with a German Ju-87 Stuka. The pilot and his tail gunner look at you, perplexed. The tail gunner rubs his eyes. « Dieter! It is a flying girl! »

You smile at them, and quickly blow them a kiss. The pilot rubs his goggles, trying to get a better look, only for you to keep blasting forward, way ahead of them now. One Stuka is insignificant anyway.

But finally, you sight it. Huge masses of soldiers gather on the beaches, trying to take what boats they can across the channel. The Dunkirk evacuation. You also see the Panzers closing in on them, no more than a few kilometers away or so. This is going to get ugly fast if you don’t do something.

You quickly pull into a dive then drop down amongst all the British soldiers. They all shout and yell in surprise and point their guns at you.

“The Germans are coming, you have to get out of here now!”

One of them, a Lieutenant says, “Look around you! There are thousands of us trying to get across the channel! What, are you just going to throw us across!?”

“No,” you say. “But I can help you, in any way I can. Just please let me.”

They all look at each other, in thought. That thought is interrupted by an explosion, artillery. “Shite!” yells the Lieutenant. “They’re already here! They can’t have gotten here that fast!” He looks at you, then relents. “Fine, you keep those krauts off our knickers, we’ll try and get out of here as fast as we can, you got that!?”

You nod. You turn to run towards the nearby woods as British Soldiers start loading up boats even faster, some are even making a desperate swim across the channel.

Now, now you have to fight the Germans.

« Halt! » German Soldiers, an entire company’s worth, pops out of the trees accompanied by a Panzer II. They train their guns on you. They look a bit confused at what they see, a little girl in a slightly sexy outfit. They’re about to learn something here.

> Manifest something to defeat them (Tripod)

You present your ring to them, and they flinch backwards. A great beam shoots out into the sky, then starts forming the nightmare that has plagued your nights since you were a little girl. It’s great metallic shell, it’s slender metallic stomping legs, and a great big heat ray to boot. The Martian Tripod, no longer there to scare you, but to assist you. It roars it’s metallic roar as the Germans stand in its shadow, dumbfounded.

Then one drops his rifle and runs. The rest see this, and quickly take this opportunity to run as well. Even the Panzer II only takes a few token shots at it, only for the heat ray to blast the tracks apart. The crew immediately bails out and runs.

You smile as you lead your newest friend on a rampage. The Tripod shoots its heatray at tanks, blasting them apart and letting the crew run away in fear. The dismounted infantry simply run away in fright and terror, not even trying to give it a shot.

You laugh, this is hilarious! They’re giving up without a fight!

Then an explosion knocks you off your feet. The Tripod immediately dissipates into smoke and mirrors. You look up to see the Panzer III, and Colonel Savage dismounting. He smiles at you. “Bold, but I have read H. G. Wells’ magnum opus as well. You may have routed my army but you will not turn me around like some fresh-faced trainee!”

The crew of the Panzer III immediately bail out. « Cowards! Come back here! » yells Savage at them. He turns back to you, only for you to pluck him out with your big hand by the seat of his pants.

You smirk at him as he struggles and writhes before you hang him from a tree. He squirms. “You little bitch! Do you know who I am!? I am Vandal Savage! The Immortal man! I have ruled kingdoms older than France itself! I have conquered the vast reaches of the world before you even knew how to spell your name!”

You smile at him. “And I care why?”

He screams to the heavens in a rage.

> You have accomplished your task here. The German army appears to be in disarray and is now retreating.

You smile. Great!

> You are to report to Oa.

Oh. Okay, where’s that?

> You will be guided there. Unless you feel there is something which needs to be done.

You fly over the forests and the trees, then right over the British. When they see you, they cheer and shout. “Let’s hear it for the Green Lantern!” they all give a thunderous roar of appreciation for you. You can’t help but feel even smaller now as you wave to them. RAF planes fly overhead, giving escort to the boats as they ferry troops across back to England.

An RAF Hurricane flies alongside you. Oh. Oh. You blush a little. The pilot is quite handsome. He smiles and waves at you. You can’t help but smile and wave back.

But now, it’s time to go to Oa. You let the Ring guide you. Suddenly, you feel the skies and the stars split and become a great wash of colors as you’re projected across space. Weird, you thought there was no oxygen in space. The magic of… magic! You can’t help but grin.

You used to be an average little girl, trying to make out a small living in life. But now, now you’re something special. You’re a Green Lantern!

Then you arrive to Oa. A great planet, glowing green with magical energy. This must be the origin world of the Green Lantern corps! But why would the Ring guide you here? Perhaps you are to embark on some spirit journey?

You land atop a metal platform and look around. Aliens of all colors, forms, and creeds fly around, glowing green. They all share the same constant, a ring like yours. They too must be Green Lanterns!

“So.” You look back. “You must be the newest Green Lantern of Sector 2814. The other Guardians speak of you, young one. I am Ganthet, a Guardian of the Universe.” He is like a little bulbous humanoid of sorts, with blue skin and white hair and a red robe. He must be a wise sort of person.

> “Guardian of the Universe?”

You’re in total awe. You can’t even form coherent sentences. “G-Guardians of the Universe?”

Ganthet nods, leading you on along the platform. Green Lanterns continue flying overhead, off to parts unknown. “You see, young one. For many years, the Guardians of the Universe have policed the universe, through the foundation of the Green Lantern Corps. We have kept it orderly, in a number of sectors with one or a few Green Lanterns to a sector.”

You nod, pushing down on your skirt as you look around. This is nothing like Earth. Everything is so utilitarian! So neat and orderly!

“You see, the Green Lantern isn’t just power means responsibility. The Green Lantern is the light, piercing the darkness of evil. You are a symbol, Green Lantern. As a defender of justice against evil, you will light the way. Not just that, but you will light other’s paths as well. So they may light their own.” Ganthet nods as he leads you on. “You possess skill, potential, Green Lantern. It is there, it just requires a good teacher.”

You grin. “I’m getting a teacher?” You bounce in your step, giddy. “Eee! Who is it!?”

Ganthet gestures forward, to a humanoid staring out into the distance. “Him. Go on, introduce yourself.”

You walk up to him carefully, your hands clasped behind your back. “Excuse me?” He turns to you. He’s a man with a very sharp face, smartly cut hair and moustache as well. Red skin however. “My name is Lumière Berger.” You give him a wide grin and offer your hand. “I am told you will be my teacher!”

He scrutinizes you for a second, then gives a polite smile. “It is very nice to meet you, Lumière. I am Sinestro. And I must remind you that I have much more experience and time with the Green Lantern Corps than most.” He crosses his arms and gives you an even warmer smile. “You will learn well under me.”

You get even more giddy. “Yes! Yay!” You stop yourself. “I- I mean… okay. It is an honor to learn the use of this magical ring under you, Monsieur Sinestro!”

Sinestro chuckles under his breath. “You believe this is magic?” You nod. “No, it’s not magic. It is merely sufficiently advanced technology. But, I suppose you still have much to learn. Come.” He hops into the air, hovering. He offers his hand to you. “We have much to learn, young Green Lantern!”

You grab his hand gently, and Sinestro leads you off into the stars.

As a Green Lantern.

honestly i think we might be able too, but we have to be way the hell more competent then Hal Ever was as well as make sure that the whole parallax bullshit never happens, so no Zero hour shenanigans, alright?

Also GS are you a fan of the theory that hal is an ass and actually created all the other Emotion spectrum entities after Hal and Kyle rebooted the universe?

That's it for The Magical Green Lantern Quest. Quite the reception and all for what I intended to be a one-shot. I suppose I might make it a regular thing in the future. We'll see.

hmmm...we'll be 29 by the time Hal is supposed to get his ring in 1959...wait, no. Abin Sur is already...HA! No ring for Hal.

Though him and the others will still likely get selected because Earth needs more lanterns per capita

>>34047935
please do make this an actual thing, a GL quest has been wanting for such a long time, and the concept of Magical Girl Hal-chan is hilarious.
>>

You CAN'T have this only be a oneshot.

Maybe this time we'll have a hetrosexual MC
