"Mew!"

You open your eyes and are met with the face of your adorable kitty.

"Good morning Moriarty" You say.
"Meeee"
"Breakfast?" You ask.
"Mew" He says.

You sit up and scratch his head. "No Kyla?" You ask.

On cue, Kyla's bedroom door opens and she saunters out.

"Buhhhhhhhhh" Kyla says.
"What's up with you?" You ask.
"Late night" She says. "Why are you so cheerful?"
You scratch your nose and chuckle. "Late night" You say.

You wound up sticking around at the GO station for a while with Claire to do some... talking. Nothing too serious, just a little bit of... tongue twisting.

"What's got you so tired?" You ask.
"Mmmmm... was up late" She says.

"I got that" You say. "Doing what?"
"Movies" She says. "Yui 'n' me were up watchin' the Marvel stuff"
"When did you guys turn in?" You ask.

"Yui left like... 10 minutes before you got home" Kyla says.
"Yikes" You say. You think you arrived back home at maybe... 2ish? "Did she walk home?"

"Dunno" Kyla says. "She said she'd scream as loud as she could if anything bad happened"
"That doesn't help" You say.
"So friggin' text her then" Kyla says. "You're the one with the phone, not me"

That's... actually a pretty good idea... You pick your phone up off the table.

[Yui]<You get home alright last night?

You ship it off and pocket your phone. It'll be a while before she answers that. Yui likes to sleep in on Sundays.

"So... breakfast?" You ask.
"Mew!" Moriarty says.
"Fooood..." Kyla says.
"What's the magic word?" You ask.
She thinks for a second before answering. "Now?"

You sigh. "Good enough"

Can we try to figure out what Yui knows about her landlord and hint we think shes into shit (any kind of shit, not just supernatural, hell, what landlord ISN'T breaking at least one law)
>>
After breakfast, you sit down on the couch. Kyla and Mori, feeling more personable with full stomachs, sit with you.

"Alright, what's the plan for today?" Kyla asks as she idly scratches Moriarty's head.
"I'm basically stuck here until this thing turns on" You say, holding up the Scholar's phone.

"Have you tried doing it manually?" She asks.
"I have" You say. "Nothing. I think the Scholar has a lock on it"
"Smart" Kyla says. "Hopefully they're as professional as their gear makes them out to be"

"Well they certainly know how to use a gun" You say.

"So what are you going to do in the meantime?" Kyla asks.

We now have reason to believe there is at least one if not two other competitors in the near by area (The scholar is likely not some random bloke from another continent who is here exclusively to see us), and its likely claires mother is directly associated with or is a third competitor.

>>42076301
You know, most landlords aren't nearly rich enough to dress up so aggressively, shes either deep in illegal activity or shouldn't be living in such a dump in the first place (justification we can use in an argument)

>>
"So Yui's landlady is a goddess, huh?" You ask.
"She is" Kyla says.
"Does that mean that Yui is... involved?" You ask.

"Not necessarily" Kyla says. "The gods and goddesses have been known to dabble in mortal affairs during the brief opening that they are given to do so"

"And she just decided to buy an apartment building?" You ask.
"She could own half the city by now" She says. "Money isn't an object to us, if you have the energy to conjure it. And you may have noticed that she has... wiles"

"Wiles the size of my fucking head" You say. "Yeah. I noticed"
"I noticed that you noticed" Kyla says. "Couldn't keep your eyes straight, could you?"
"Can you really blame me?" You ask. "Just consider ourselves lucky that I even noticed her eyes, alright?"

"Your honesty is noted" Kyla says. "So who do you think it is?"
"The Traitor?" You ask. "I dunno... I guess that's the first thing that comes to mind based on her appearance"

Kyla is quiet.

"Not going to correct me?" You ask.
"Can't say anything for or against here, since you're guessing" She says. "You could always ask her, if you can get her alone"

"And she can tell me?" You ask.
"Not unless you ask" She says. "We're bound to secrecy, but only when it comes to our own volition. If you asked, she could tell you anything"

"I'll keep that in mind" You say.

>[1/2]
>>
"If I see her again, I'll have to try and get her alone then" You say.
"It's worth a shot" Kyla says. "Just remember which brain to think with"
"I am perfectly capable of keeping my head in the game when I have to" You say.

"You say that, but remember that she's got a few thousand lifetimes of experience over you" Kyla says.
"Got it, I'll be careful" You say.

"All I need to know" Kyla says. "So what now?"
"Now, I need to practice" You say.

You hold your hand out in front of you and concentrate. You had meant to do this last night when you got home, but you were pretty tired.

"Magic practice?" Kyla asks.
"Yeah" You say.
"I can help you there" She says.
"You can?" You ask.

"It's moving mana that you're working on, yeah?" She asks.
"Yeah" You say.
"The Shield stays in your pathways when it's not in use. You can summon it by flushing it out" She says.

"And that has something to do with the rules?" You ask.
"It has something to do with the event, and I can therefore divulge" She says. "Now, show me what you've got"

"Would Jessica have been able to feel the Shield when she took a look at my pathways the other night?" You ask.
"Depends on how hard she looked" Kyla says. "But if she didn't say anything, she probably didn't see anything"

"I'm not familiar with what counts as looking hard" You say.
"Well... what did she do?" Kyla asks.
"She used a machine to check me out-"
"Then no-"

"And then she stuck her tongue in my mouth" You say.
"Did she really?" Kyla asks.
"She did" You say.
"Huh..." Kyla says.

"What?" You ask.
"If she was doing what I think she was doing, that wouldn't have been necessary" She says.
"What do you mean?" You ask.
"All she needed was to have a 'part of her' inside a 'part of you'... hmm... what's a good example... I know!" Kyla says, holding out her hand. "Give me your finger"

"O... okay" You say, sticking your finger out.

Kyla grabs it. "This counts" She says.
"It... what?" You ask.
"For looking into a person's pathways" She says. "This counts"

"There doesn't need to be like a... personal connection?" You ask.
"No" Kyla says. "Trust is a necessity, but if she stuck her tongue in your mouth then all I have to say is: she had her own reasons"

"So she... wanted to make out with me?" You ask.
"Unless you can think of a better reason, then yes" Kyla says. "You should ask her about it"

"And how will I explain how I found out it wasn't necessary?" You ask.
"You don't have to tell her how you found out, just ask if it WAS necessary" She says. "But all that aside, let's see what your mana game is like"

"Alright..." You say, focusing energy into your arm...

"Rooooooookie mistake!" Kyla says. "She didn't even teach you THIS? Gods, you would be better off heading over there to make out for a while as opposed to learning magic"

"What am I doing wrong?" You ask.
"You're trying to move it just into your hands" She says. "Move it beyond your hands. Mana won't leave your body unless you give it a form"
"Like the mask?" You ask.

"Like the Shield" She says, correcting you. "Or an element, like fire or air"
"What about time?" You ask.
Kyla grimaces. "I think you should stick to body stuff for now. I don't even want to see what happens if you try to manifest your ability outside of your body. Nevermind the fact that it might kill you"

"It might kill me?" You ask.
"Whoops. That's overstepping. You'll have to ask Browning about that between makeouts" Kyla says. "In the meantime, try it again. This time, try to push it beyond your hand. You can get more force out of it that way"

You nod, and try again. It definitely feels faster... Like the energy was riding the break before, and it now has permission to hit the gas.

In a few seconds, you manage to get a spell off. Your arm retains a strange blue glow.

"Nicely done" Kyla says. "Your first spell"

Looking forward to when Saif can freeze/slow down his enemies.
>>
>>42077645
Two problems. Like mind reading that Ms. Browning does their mana would likely automatically fight to resist the effect. Secondly, slowing them down just makes it harder to actually hurt them.

>>42077682
I more meant slowing them down as a way to A) Get clear, or B) keep a contestant out of the skirmish, if we have a good idea of who they might be.

Harder to hurt goes well with that.
>>
"Second... technically" You say.
"You got off a spell with that weak ass flow?" She asks "How in the hell did you manage that?"

"Like this..." You say, entering slowtime and focusing your energy into your hand. This time you get a substantial amount in before the 'spell' 'fires'. Your arm, from your fingertips to your shoulder gets covered in glowing blue "veins", and it feels much stronger.

"Woah!" Kyla says. "You couldn't do that before"

"I could" You say. "Time magic"

Her eyes narrow. "Explain" She says.
"The timing of the spell is based on my own time, while mana moves in real time" You say. "Going into slow time allows me to lengthen the amount of time I have to gather mana before the spell is released"

"So you're cheating" She says.
"You know, that's exactly what Ms. B said" You say.
"Well... not really cheating so much as using an unorthodox technique" She says. "Still, be careful how you use it. You want to ease into using larger quantities of mana, and pushing too much through will leave your pathways in the state that they were in before"

"Couldn't I just go make out with Ms. Browning some more and fix them up?" You ask.
"That would reset them, and you would lose any and all progress you've made" She says. "You're better off just not pushing it, unless you really have to. Of course, if you really want to make out with your teacher again, I will not stop you"

"You won't?" You ask.
"Remember what I said about the differences in our societies?" She asks.
"Yeah" You say.
"In other words: If you have a shot, take it" She says.

"You worry me sometimes" You say.
"Funny, I think the same thing about you" She says.

[Scholar]<I'm ready, send me the address

A map shows up on the phone, revealing a location down on the lakeshore. It isn't particularly far, but it might take a while to get there by your means.

Still, you immediately pull out your own phone and google directions.

[Scholar]>ETA?

It'll take... 1 hour to get there, so that's what you say.

[Scholar]>Good, I'll be expecting you
[Scholar]>It should go without saying, but in case it isn't apparent: come alone

The phone turns off.

"Well, I have a meeting" You say. "I'll be back... eventually"
"Saif, your mask" Kyla says.

Your mask...? "Right!" You say. "Can I summon it out here?" You ask.
"It's kind of a mental thing that I don't have time to teach you" She says. "Calling the Shield will be easier. Just do what you did with your mana, only try to make it form the Shield in your hand"

"Little easier said than done" You say.
"It's really not. The Shield exists in your pathways, so all you have to do is give it a little push" She says.

A little push, huh?

You try it, and the Shield forms in your hand. "Wow, that was easy" You say.
"Okay, NOW you're ready" Kyla says. "Good luck"

"Thanks, I may need it" You reply as you make your way around the room collecting your things: Wallet, keys, phone, iPod, and you're good.

"See you in a bit" Kyla says.
"See you" You say, heading out the door.

I think some of the gods are prone to funny choices.

Example: Claire may be weak in body, but she's strong in mind; the Creator probably thought that combining the strength of his artifact would be a good fit.

Her intellect could be useful in how the golems do their thing.

Plus, she loves dinos.

Inb4 that was the winning trait.

The bus lets you out by a series of warehouses. It's quiet. It's empty. It's private.

You walk in, and do the thing with your mask... you're not sure what the word is called. Create? Manifest? Project?

The word doesn't matter. You put the mask on, and walk further in.

The address was for the 8th warehouse, so you count them off as you pass them. 3... 4... 5...

You get the feeling that you're being watched, which is probably normal. the Scholar might have cameras, or a familiar or something...

Maybe you should have brought Moriarty. He's not much good as backup, but you would feel a little better having him around. And who knows, maybe the Scholar is a cat person?

"I didn't technically make it through the first night" You say.
"Yes, well... you don't count" She says. "You've died pretty much every time you've gone in, so your track record isn't great"

"Yeah, but I can die" You say. "Everyone else has an object that makes not dying a little easier. I have one that just about solves that problem"

She purses her lips in thought. "That's one way to look at it" She says, before downing the rest of her glass and standing up.

The scholar offers you her hand. "You seem honest enough, and being the Guardian I already know what your wish is" She says, offering you her hand. "I, the Scholar, do humbly propose an alliance between us. What say you?"

Whats going on here?
>>
Wait a minute, I thought we somehow just arrived to this game late. You mean to say that during that first night we just enter Creator managed to kill not only us but 80 other people in an hour? How did alliances even get formed before that night?
>>
>>42080110
Not 80 but like 30ish
>>
>>42080110
I'm guessing that everyone else had a while to get ready, when they were first chosen, instead of being picked at the friggin start, like us.
>>
>>42080214
So its the difference between Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay for us correct?
>>
>>42080214
Correct. Most of them had around 1-2 weeks to prep.

You got less than a second. You're doing pretty well by comparison.

>>42080128
Stonehands' killcount is 29. It was 30 before you stopped being dead.
>>
>>42080110
LIterally all the best champions started the murdering spree. Also you can bet that some of those champions formed alliance pre-game.
>>
>>42080214
>>42080250
I actually don't know what that means. Illuminate me, though.
>>
>>42080281
So, it sounds like someone else got kill happy.

My bet's on Tyrant; their team is a fuckin' slaughterhouse.
>>
>>42080298
type moon fags is what it means. Don't listen to these faggots.
>>
"Do you really not recognize me jessica?"
>>
>>42080366
Much of the killing was done in 1s and 2s, by people who ended up dying themselves.

Stonehand stands out pretty far above the rest
>>
>>42080298
In Fate Zero people knew what they were getting into and prepared for it. Fate Stay Night had the MC thrown in as a last minute addition with no prep.
>>
>>42080401
Ah, so she was killin' full groups, eh? Considering the fact that she can make golems, it only makes sense.

You writin', Smiley?
>>
"You don't want to work out the details first?" You ask.
"What details? This is an alliance of convenience" She says. "You and I are teaming up because my allies went and died, and yours... did you even have any to begin with?"

"No" You say.
"Seriously? Not one?" She asks.
"Not one" You say.

"So... you couldn't just resolve your differences with GT?" She asks.
"About that..." You say.

"You couldn't like... go to the Coven team and say 'hey, help me out'?" She asks.
"There's a slight issue there..."

"And what is tha-... oh gods. You're new. You must be" She says. "Do you even know what GT means, or who the Coven is?"

>Do you?
>>
>>42080427
That sums it up quite nicely, then.
>>
>>42080444
>No
>>
>>42080444
GT is the Guardian's Temple and Coven is the group that they are at war with. Remember guys! We learned this from Jessica.
>>
>>42080493
Yeah, but if this is Jessica, then we net ourselves a permanent ally by showing our newbiness
>>
>>42080493
If we assume that is correct then the coven is the Elder Council?
>>
>>42080444
>Uhhh...
>>
>>42080444
>No
I have no clue, your'e saying this is a temporary alliance?
>>
>>42080527
No we don't because we forgot about what she taught us in magic training!
>>
>>42080444
Which team is the coven team? I have no idea what's going on lady.
>>
>>42080444
Guardian Temple and... I don't know.
>>
>writing
>>
>>42080444
>Fucking NO, alright!? I barely knew about magic until a fucking week ago! I don't know how much time you got, but I got thrown AT THE LAST FUCKING SECOND.
>>
>>42080493
I misread that, Coven is not the group that opposes the Guardian's Temple.
>>
>>42080703
I think saif is a bit more calm and collected than that. Relax anon.
>>
>>42080703
Can we make Saif a tumblrite.

YOUR ASSUMPTION I WOULD KNOW SOMETHING IS TRIGGERING ME! REEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>42080703
Include, somewhat?
>>
>>42080761
Its not my job to educate you!
>>
>>42080670
I always wondered if Smiley gave us hidden hints who was a champion.
>>
>>42080799
Wow, you're a scholar? This is exactly the problem with WHITE FEMINISM! Always talking down to minorities. And no, just because Abigail and Claire want to fuck me does not mean they are not privileged racist shitlords as well. WANTING TO FUCK BROWN GUYS IS EXOTICIZATION AND EXPLOITATION! WHICH IS A FORM OF RACISM!
>>
>>42080809
I still think that supposed cooking fire that Yui made was a big hint towards her being a choosen or at least a mage. She moved out while she under went mage training so we wouldn't find out she was a mage. Also becuase it was a fire and the Traitor's affinity is fire there is a good chance she is a Traitor, not to mention that the Traitor also wears magical girl uniforms and Yui is big into anime.
>>
>>42080872
Not to mention her landlord
>>
"Uhh..." You say.
"Oh... son of a bitch" She says.

"No! Hang on... GT is uhh... the Guardian's Temple" You say. "And Coven is... the bad guys?"

"Coven is Witch's Coven you nimrod" She says. "They keep our society a secret"

"Shit... that's right" You say. "It was Golden Dawn. They were the bad guys"

"Who in the hell is your teacher?" She asks. "Because they've done a shit job in training you"
"Give them a break, I've had like... one lesson" You say.

The Scholar looks at you with their mouth agape. "One lesson?" They ask. "Were you even a part of the magic community when this all started?"

"No" You say. "And before you ask, I was a last minute pick by the Guardian after their original champion got sniped"

The Scholar takes a deep breath, and lets it out. "Your teacher's name?" She asks.
"Am I allowed to tell you that?" You ask.
"Yes" She says.
"Should I be telling you that?" You ask.
"Just fucking tell me" She says.

"Fine" You say. "It's Jessica Browning"

The Scholar lets out a long, shaky sigh. "Son of a bitch" She says.
"What's wrong?" You ask.
"Saif... what are you doing here?" She asks.

You blink several times, as the Scholar removes their mask.

"J... Ms... what?" You ask.

Ms. Browning pulls you to your feet and hugs you.

"You should have said something" She says.
"What was I supposed to say?" You ask. "by the way, on top of my impossible affinity, I'm also a part of a crazy magical deathmatch?"

"That, or just that you needed help" She says.
"Up until 5 seconds ago, I didn't know you could provide help" You say.
"Well I can" She says, releasing her hold on you. "And I will. You and I are going to get through this. Together"

She offers her hand, and you take it.

"Sounds good to me"

[Arena]>The Guardian and The Scholar are now allied
>>
That's all for tonight!

Next thread will be sometime between tomorrow and thursday, depending on how things happen on this end.

As always I'll be sticking around for question/suggestion time

Well that was a thing.

Is the pug the god? Is the pug Scholar god? Please Smiley, tell me the pug is the scholar god!
>>
>>42081147
No the daughter is the god and the pug is a familiar.
>>
>>42081006
gg Claire. new waifu has arrived.
>>
>>42081211
No, Kyla would be aware that the daughter is the god and so would we, since we know about the whole eye thing, but did we check the dog's eyes? I don't think so. Its the pug man.
>>
>>42081238
Actually Kyla did play a lot with the daughter, maybe they were having god chat when we weren't paying attention?
>>
>>42081257
I mean, I guess they could be having that whole, hehehe, are humans don't know they're allies and living next door to each other. But like, we knew INSTANTLY that the landlord was a god.
>>
>>42081408
Because Kyla had an attitude against her!
