Your name is Amy Nakamura, a third generation Japanese American. You’ve lived your entire life in one city, and you’ve made a few close friends. The story begins after your seventeenth birthday, and your first day as a senior in high school. Your world is much different than the one we live in, monsters and fantastical beings actually exist and were made public knowledge in the 1980s. You, Amy are an Oni, one of the defining creatures of Japanese folklore and mythology. Oni are known as commonly as Japanese ogres, however the truth is Oni and ogres share few common traits other than being larger and stronger than humans. Oni were created to be servants to higher powers, whether they be malevolent or benevolent. They also take on the aspect of one of the five elements, what’s your element?

>Fire (You have amazing agility and speed, and the power to conjure heat and flames. However you cannot swim, and cold temperatures make you lose some power)
>Stone (Your physical strength is un-matched, and your skin can repel blows from almost everything. However if living wood manages to pierce your skin, your power can be temporarily removed)
>Water (You move with the fluidity and ease of water, your body is the only weapon you need. You can also breathe under water for short periods of time. If you are struck with stone, or surrounded by loose earth, your heightened reflexes become muddled)
>Wood (You can command nature to a limited degree and your body is naturally resilient to most toxins. You also regenerate from wounds much quicker than other Oni. However if you are bound by metal or suspended in the air your resilience and healing can be thwarted)
>Metal/Void (The most esoteric element, magic comes easier to you as does the ability to create a cloud to fly on. You also have a slight instinctive knowledge of how to use weaponry. If you are struck by flame, your body could take weeks to heal properly)

The day started pretty much like any other, by almost crushing your alarm clock as it ringed incessantly without stopping the first time you pressed the button. Groaning, you throw yourself out of bed and immediately trip on your 40 pound dumbbell.

“GOD FUCKING DAMN-“ you catch yourself before you wake your mom up, she works late hours in Memorial Hospital and you don’t want to wake her up this early.

After counting to ten, twice, you get dressed and lace up your boots. All the “popular” girls in school like to tease you about your choice in foot wear, however they haven’t been too keen to make fun of you after you broke Cindy Miller’s bracelet without exerting yourself.

Heh

After going down stairs you see that your dad is already gone, makes sense, he has to be at work by 6 anyway. At least that’s what he tells you, you have the sinking suspicion that he just likes getting there early so he can finish quick and come home early.

>Do you?
>Drive to school and get breakfast there

You start making breakfast, your stomach wasn’t feeling up to driving all the way to school without food. You keep it simple: bacon, eggs and some fruit salad. Twirling the kitchen knives expertly you easily make an entire week’s worth of fruit salad, the chopping noises on the cutting board are better than coffee at waking you up. You check the clock, which reads 6:50, more than enough time to make some lunch too. You quickly eat breakfast, wrapping some up for mom in that new fancy cellophane wrap she bought. Trying to keep the momentum going, you quickly get out some chicken and assorted vegetables. Dicing them up as quickly as you can, you throw them together with some rice in the frying pan. Thankfully making fried rice is pretty easy, and you manage to fix it up in enough time to head out the door without the risk of being late to class.

Getting in your shitty Camry, you face the perilous wasteland that is the Houston highway system, thankfully traffic is pretty light, and you make it to school in plenty of time. Moving towards your locker the skittish freshman move out of your way quickly. It used to bother you when you were younger that people thought you were scary, not that anyone knows you’re an Oni. It’s just being a giant (for an Asian woman at least) 6’3’’ girl tends to scare most people. You have to try and keep you self from smiling a bit, in four years of high school you’ve started to like having that effect on people.

You make it to your locker and quickly stuff your breakfast and lunch in it. It’s just abut 7:30, A period starts in 20 minutes, while you could get to class early (and go back to sleep), you could also slum around for bit and look for Trisha. Trisha is your only “real” best friend, you’ve been together for almost seven years.

Wandering the halls is always a good way to start the morning, you go around the senior lockers looking for your friend, but it seems like you’ve missed her already. Ah well, you wanted to stretch your legs a bit anyway, and stretch them you do, you walk around most of the senior lockers and a bit around the English department before you find her. She’s surrounded by Cindy Miller and her gang of bimbos.

What a day to be alive, you struggle to keep your smile suppressed as you walk up behind them. Trisha Ngyuen is 4’11’’ and a few centimeters and looks like a stereotypical nerdy Asian girl, her hair is short and black and her face is partially obscured by her cute little oval glasses. Cindy is 5’6’’ and looks like a carbon cut out from a magazine. Her platinum blonde hair is poofed up in a bouffant do, and her perfectly trimmed nails are pinching the sleeve of Trish’s weird 01 hoodie she loves so much. Trish is looking at them with a perfectly calm gaze as they accost her,

“I’m not even sure why they let little freaks like her in this school.” Laughs one of the blow-up dolls, Cindy and the others snicker a bit.

“I’m sure it’s because she gets straight A’s which looks good for the school, they don’t care how freakish the kids are as long they perform well.” Says another.

“You know that all the Asian kids get straight A’s, that can’t be the reason” Cindy says while the rest of her airheads giggle

“She has to be sleeping with the principle, you know how much he loves tiny girls.” The giggles turn into full blown laughter.

“I shouldn’t stereotype though” Cindy breathes in between laughs “That steroid popping dyke can’t get anything higher than a C+.” That really sets them off, some of the girls even start tearing up a bit with laughter. That’s when Trish sees you moving up behind them, she can’t help but smile.

>Step in between them and grab Trish

“Y’know accusing the principle of being a pedo is pretty risky, your daddy could lose a lot of money in a lawsuit if the Principle hears that.” You say, the smile you’ve been holding back breaking free at last. The “I’m sixteen and pregnant” squad turns around, oh the looks on their faces.

Delicious

You crack the knuckles on your left hand with your left thumb as you pass in between the girls and grab Trish. Cindy and her friends start backing up as soon as they see your face. Oh man this is too much fun, but you have to get to class soon so you can’t stay here and have fun with them.

“If I ever see you guys messing with Trish like this again, you’re all going into the dumpster, after I break each of your precious manicured nails. Now scram.”

The bimbettes quickly move down the hall in the opposite direction of you, about halfway down the hall Cindy looks at you sneers. You return the favor with a rude gesture and she storms off. You look down at Trish who has the biggest, smuggest smile on her face. You look each other in the eye and start laughing uncontrollably, a nearby teacher sees you and tells you to quiet down. You’re both still quivering with laughter as you make your way to A period.

“You know, if I get to see Cindy react like that again I might just keep letting them “bully” me.” Trish says smiling, you’ve known Trish since middle school and you’ve had to help her out of situations like this before, but damn if it isn’t more satisfying when you get to do it to Cindy and her crew. You pat her head a bit, making her slam her tiny fist into your side.

“You know if you socialized a bit more you might not get made fun of so much, freak.” You say imitating Cindy’s southern drawl. Trish just shakes her head at you and laughs.

“You’re one to talk, you spend so much time working out at the gym and in your room you’d thing you muscles would’ve exploded by now. Besides I hate acting like a fucking normie, you know that.” Trish says giggling still. She’s picked up a lot of weird slang from that one website she drones on and on about, 4chin, 4chen? Eh, something like that. You make it to A period before the bell, ready to start the school day with all the joy that the American public school system can supply.

You manage to make it through the day, AND learn something that’s a pretty big achievement. You hang around with Trish at lunch, as usual she steals a portion of your homemade lunch, she then spends the rest of lunch period watching some weird anime on her phone. Something about a bald man punching monsters, which you take a slight offense to, and saving the world. She swears it’s the best thing ever and is the “Savior of Anime”. School drags as usual, until you finally hear the sweet sound of the 3:15 bell, the signal that it was time to escape. You quickly move down the halls and make a break towards your car. Until, predictably, you’re stopped by Nathan Zook. Nate is the captain of the football team, and also predictably, Cindy’s boyfriend.

“I heard you made Cindy look the fool today,” He drawls in the not at all charming Texas twang “You know you can’t do that without her complaining to me. Now look Amy, I ain’t got noth’n ‘gainst ya, but you know she hounds me when she’s upset.” You sigh, you really didn’t want to hurt Nate, he’s a pretty decent guy all things considered, and cute….

“Nate can you please not do this right now, you know the last time we fought you were on the bench for a week, Coach Fitz wouldn’t let me hear the end of it.” You complain to the handsome football player. He smiles his Kodak smile and straightens his dark brown hair.

“Darlin, I don’t want to do this either but if I don’t Cindy will just complain and nag nag nag.” He adds a few more nags to his list as you laugh.

“So all I need you to do is let me rough you up a bit, or you can tussle with me an’ my boys. Mostly so I don’t get my ass kicked again.” He says laughing good naturedly.

“You know you’re kind of pussy-whipped right?” You ask him, his smile turns forlorn as he stops looking you in the eye.

“I know Darlin, I know.” He replies, his happy demeanor dropped almost instantly. “So I guess you ain’t lettin me rough you up a bit?” He asks, his voice is hopeful, as if knows he’s right and he wants to be wrong.

“Sorry Nate, I don’t let anyone beat on me for free. If you want to you’re going to have to earn it.” You say as you shrug out of your jacket, the winter air cool against your arms and neck.

“Give me a sec.” He says as he pulls out his phone, probably so he can get his “boys” over here. You honestly don’t even care about how pretty and how nice he is anymore, this is going to be FUN. You start rolling your shoulders and stretching out your legs, the joints making wonderful crackling noises. You pop your neck twice and look over at Nate to see that he’s done with his talk. His demeanor has changed dramatically, the charming country boy is gone and the honorable “man” is here to defend his lady love’s honor. God you hate that white knight bullshit. You think about taking your bra off for a second, it’s a pain in the ass to fight in one, but decide against it. You don’t what your girls bouncing everywhere and getting in your way (Also it’d be embarrassing as shit). Sooner or later about 4 football players show up, including Camron Bell. Bell was the star lineman, the next J.J. Watt as everyone liked to say. He hated your fucking guts. After you broke his bench record, he laughed it off as you being a roid taking freak. But when he confronted you about his squat record he tried to get violent, you took offense to that. The muscles in your legs and shoulders start quivering, people like to say that fighting is wrong and violence begets violence, they also talk about the surge of adrenaline and the almost animalistic fear in the back of their minds. The only thing you feel when you fight is pleasure, and fuck it feels good. You’re not sure if it’s your Oni heritage or just you, but fighting makes you feel alive.
The first of the 5 punks runs at you, he has no form to speak of and his swing is hilariously wide. You duck and slug him straight across the Jaw. He goes down in a heap, blood dripping out of his mouth. The remaining 4 stare at you, eyes wide, you look back and lick your lips.

One

The boys start to circle around you, like a bunch of wolves around a bear. Finally one works up the nerve to swing at you, good, you were getting a bit bored waiting. You rush into his punch, taking it in the abs, you’d like to think you heard his wrist snap. You don’t even bother to swing, you slam your head down on top of his and he crumples to the blacktop. The rush goes straight to the back of your head, fuuuuuck that hits the spot.

Two

This time they decide to come at you in a group learning from their friends mistakes. Well not really if they had, they would’ve run away. Nate and some guy whose name escapes you both take swings at you, you let Nate’s punch hit your face as you catch the other guy’s. You slam your fist into noname’s stomach, he then proceeds to lose his lunch. Nasty

Three

As barf-bag crumples to the ground, you throw a kick into nates diaphragm, knocking the wind out of him. I guess you still couldn’t hurt his pretty face, watching him collapse slowly to the ground you feel Bell shoulder check you. You smile

Four

As he tries to tackle you grab his arm and pull it towards you, he struggles and tries to pull his arm back to him, perfect. You move with him and move his arm behind him, which gives you the perfect opportunity to do something you’ve always wanted to do. You let go of his arm and wrap yours around his waist, you grip in a bear hug and start to lift him. Moving yourself at an almost 90 degree angle, you suplex him into the ground. He tries to get up but you just kick his legs out from under him, this time he stays down.

Five

The five football players lie on the ground, moaning in pain (one guy is even crying), and you feel fucking alive. You spit some blood out of your mouth as you feel cut start to close up. You stand over Bell’s face and do J.J. Watt’s “Uh uh uh” finger waggle. He just groans and flips over on to his side. You walk over to Nate and look down at him.

>>
>>45167767
Might have been nice to have bit more input, but it was solid.
>>
>>45167767

In terms of interactivity this >>45167814

In terms of writing, you've established that we have a hard on for violence, and you're risking overselling it at this point.

But it was solid.

>>45167767
When we tell him to find somebody better, we'd better laugh in his face when he suggests us.

>>45167767
Good fight. Clear and comprehensible without going into minutiae. More interaction might have been nice, but that runs the risk of upsetting the balance you've set.
>>
>>45167814
Given the situation, I'd probably argue that it went just fine. This was, relatively, a simple fight. Later ones might benefit from stages of fights, and options to focus on things, but honestly, not so much this one to me.

“Fuck Nate, that girl is poison.” You say to his prone form, he tries to wheeze something out but you can’t catch it. You lean down over him so you can hear him better.

“You’re *wheeze* probably right.” He says as he smiles at you, a rattling laugh follows his wheezing. Damn you’re glad you took a hit to avoid hitting his face, he really is too cute hurt there. You get up and stretch a bit, that’s when you notice the small crowd of students that gathered around the fight. Maaaaybe the parking lot wasn’t the best spot to start a fight, at least there aren’t any teachers around, yet. As you walk back to where you parked your car (about 5-6 feet) you can see the faces of the students in the crowd, some of them have shocked expressions, some are looking at you in disgust and others are…. Yeah that’s not creepy.

“What? They started it.” You say to the onlookers, the murmuring in the crowd increases. “If you’ve got something to say, say it.” You tell students frustration painting your voice. One of the guys in the crowd, some freshman, starts to speak up.

“You just beat 5 people at once, not just any random dudes either, 5 pretty big football players.” He says, a little awe cropping up in his words. You snort

“It’s not that impressive, most them have probably never been in a fight.” You retort back to the freshman.

“You only got hit three times, and you knocked out each them with one hit. Even if you knew how to fight you shouldn’t have been able to knock them out that easy.” He says, his eyes still wide. “I don’t think a normal person could do that.” Some people in the crown murmur their assent.

While knowledge of monsters and magical peoples is common, most of the time they keep it hidden due to a fear of being ostracized (or being sanctioned by big G). Also this is in Texas, where the majority of uneducated people don't think black people can work and mexicans steal all the jobs.

“You caught me, kid. My real name is Kara Zor-L, and I'm actually an alien, sent to Earth in a pod by my father in order to save me from our homeworld's destruction.” You get a few chuckles from the crowd at that. “The truth is the captain’s girlfriend was picking on my friend, I don’t like it when my friends get messed with. So I scared her a bit and she went crying to her man, then they came to me to fight, and I kicked their asses to next week.” You can’t keep the vitriol out of your voice as you describe Cindy’s actions.

“But that doesn’t explain how yo-“ You don’t hear the rest as you squeeze into your tiny car and close the door. You turn the engine on and rest your hands on the wheel. They’re still shaking a bit from the adrenaline. You lay your head on the wheel as well, and contemplate where you’re going to go to burn the rest of your steam off.

You decide to go to Memorial park for a jog, nothing like running for some cardio. Although there was a scare a few years ago with a Troll. The real kind, not the ones that Trish counter-trolls online. It’s said that it caught 15 cats, 10 dogs and 6 children before HPD killed it. Some people say that the police just lied about the story, and it’s still out there. Yeah right. Memorial is a pretty pleasant park all things considered, it’s got nice jogging and bike trails beautiful pine trees, what’s not to love? Well maybe not all the out of shape people trying to run, especially that one guy who keeps leering at you as you run by. Asshole, it’s not your fault you didn’t pack a sports bra and you only had your gym clothes to jog in. You try to tune everyone out, and focus on your breathing.

In

Out

In

Out

Yeah that’s it, the adrenaline from your fight earlier is starting to fade. You start to slow down as you check your phone for the time, it’s about 6:00. How long have you been running? You’re walking back to your car when you hear it: a muffled yell from the trees. Did you hear that right? Yeah, there it is again the same muffled yell.

>Go check it out

>Go home it’s probably nothing

You start moving in the direction of the yelling, what’s really odd is that is that the closer you get to the sound, the darker it gets. This wouldn’t normally bother you, Oni blooded and full Oni (like yourself) have incredible low light vision. The problem is it’s not helping, you can’t see through this dark. It can only be one thing then, magic. You’ve only felt magic a handful of times, once was when your grandfather proclaimed you Oni, the other was when you had to save Trish from a witch (story for another day). This unnatural shadow doesn’t feel like anything from the east, eastern magics you’d feel miles away. This is different, it has to be western magic but what? It doesn’t feel like witch magic, or anything from a human. You creep closer and closer towards the sound, but it’s not getting louder. It must be magically muffled like the light is. The tree-line starts to slowly thin, which is odd because while Memorial Park has trees, it’s nowhere near this dense. As the last of the trees break, you can finally see what’s making the noise, it’s a guy. He looks about your age, with dirty blonde hair and glasses. He’s frantically waving a chain in front of him, at four shadowy figures.

You focus yourself, you take a deep breath, clear your mind and open the void. Using the void’s magic you strip away whatever enchantment was covering the figures. The shadows around them dissipate, and four slender humanoid figures are revealed. They look like they could be male or female, and they’re identical. Each one has silver white hair and black eyes, the only one that looks different is the one closest to the front. It’s obviously female for starters, her slender and athletic curves are strangely alluring. They’re each wearing a leather, navy blue jacket with a white symbol on the back. You know that symbol…. That’s the Titania’s Silence symbol, one of the most prolific gangs in the south. It can also only mean one thing, the four beings are Faeries. After this revelation however they turn, as if one creature split into 4, and look at you.
