Welcome to A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest. In which you take the reins of a House of storied glorious past since Aegon’s Conquering, but whose fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in the doom that Robert’s Rebellion brought. Taking place in 284AC a year after the Rebellion has ended you are Brynden Malroy, second son to Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford and the last living heir to Steadhold and House Malroy.

House Malroy is a pre-genned House designed around the idea of a story within the Crownlands of a House fiercely loyal to the Targaryens and their attempts to live in this new world after Robert’s Rebellion. The new Lord Brynden Malroy is as well pre-genned but will take direction from the players in his ways and how he develops himself further. This Quest will be moderately more story driven than others of its kind, but the development of the House and her lands will take just as much importance.

If you’ve played one of the many Quests within the ASoIaF setting the rules of the SIFRP system should be known. I will be using the Game of Thrones edition, as well as a few of the expansions namely OOSP and a few house rules which will be explained as we come to them. If you have questions about how things work or why certain actions are taken I can explain them as we go along. In truth this is a learning experience for me as well.

The day had become humid and hot and you could see it in your smallfolk, the crowds were less than decent in the penny seats. You had taken to unbuttoning the top snaps of your doublet, allowing your chest to breathe, you really needed to find a better tailor. Comparably Dontos seemed unphased, standing guard in his onyx armor without so much as a bed of sweat upon his brow. For a moment you considered inviting Lady Alexes Chelsted to the grandstand just to remind him he was still human but thought of it when you noticed your other uncle Lord Winston Hayford taking his seat next to you. Giving him a nod he returns the same, looking far worse for wear than the last time you had seen him, dark rings around his eyes suggested a rather long rough night.

“My Lord,” he states simply, gladly taking the offered wine and downing near half the cup in a single gulp.

“Uncle,” you respond, knowing little else to say, though thankfully the quarter finalist taking the field to the applause and joy of the crowd filled the tense quiet.

First out were Ser Ambrose Oatwright and Ser Duncan Ureye, Duncan looked to be nursing his shield arm, meanwhile Oatwright was still looking relatively together. Youth was the latter’s advantage to the old Hedge Knight that you had taken into service all those months ago. His words occasionally still bounced about your head, Royce taking in robber Knights, outlaws, and criminals of all walks. Offering a hand to the younger Knight, Duncan recieves a light shake before they take their positions in the uppermost quadrant. Next is Ser Jon Pryor and Ser Jon Pyle, two excellent Knights who still looked to be in prime form. The pink and yellow Knight of the Pebble stands at least half a foot shorter than the giant in grey iron neither looking particularly intimidated by the other. A simple nod of acknowledgement is made and they take their respective places.

In truth there was a degree of excitement in your heart of having gained these two Knights in particular, they were both excellent to say the least and Dontos seemed to approve of them the most.

“I’d say Pryor wins this round,” Dontos offers from behind you speaking of the devil, “He can avoid Pyle’s greatsword relatively easy with his footwork.” Casting a glance back you notice he is speaking to your son Victus and squire Arron Qorgyle, both nodding along to the master’s words and you smile a bit.

The herald’s call brings your attention back to the field to see your cousin Ser Wesley Hayford and Ser Aden Brune of Brownhollow take the field next. Wesley is stalking the field, his feet unresting even as he snaps his helmet into place, Brune looks on uneasy from across their quadrant. You had never seen Wesley like this before he was always the happy almost naive sort, him and Ser Victor Haigh had gotten along famously in the early months. Now he looked a man on a mission, hellbent. The final announcement shakes idle thoughts from your head and Ser Lucas Longwaters alongside Ser Titus Sarsfield come upon the field to the roaring approval of the crowd. You’re reminded of their fight near the end of the open round of the Melee, and you can see Lucas ready to start jaw jacking again. They are stationed in the quadrant closest to you and you note Lucas deciding to wear his open face helmet, a bridge of metal along his nose being the only protection. You sigh and near roll your eyes but remember how much alike him you could be, years in Essos without so much as a cap of leather upon your head.

The crowd calms and you watch the herald hold aloft the purple and black flag, all eyes upon im in anticipation, barring the Knights upon the field whose eyes trained upon one another. Wesley still paced back and forth, Lucas allowed a smile to play upon his lips, and all stood ready to advance to the next round. The crowd roars into life alongside the drop of the flag, the sound of metal upon metal, the early exchanges of the quarter finals, Wesley smashes into Brune, his attack unrelenting before being pushed off, Brune scrambling to gain some distance, using his huge heavy shield to ward off another flurry of blows. Lucas and Sarsfield circle one another, and you see Lucas’ mouth at work, though are unable to hear nor read the words over the crowd. You lean back into your seat, taking another swallow of the cool wine and look over the field. It reminded you of your youth, of the days upon the grandstand next to your father, watching melees, jousts, everything, it felt right, felt like home.

What the fuck did you just fucking say about Brynden, you little bitch? I’ll have you know Brynden graduated top of his class in the Second Sons Company, and He been involved in numerous secret raids on Slaver's Bay, and he have over 300 confirmed kills. He is trained in gorilla warfare and he is the top archer in the entire Westerosi armed forces. You are nothing to him but just another target. He will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to him over Ravens? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the Seven Kingdoms and your Raven is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. He can be anywhere, anytime, and he can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with his bare hands. Not only is he extensively trained in unarmed combat, but he have access to the entire arsenal of the Malroy Army and he will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. He will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

Pryor and Pyle have finally engaged in full, the former taking an early advantage with his fleetness of foot. Pyle’s greatsword digs into the ground next to the pink and yellow Knight who scores a few quick hits to giant’s wide open guard before dancing away, falling back into a defensive stance daring Pyle forward again. Meanwhile Oatwright and Duncan are having a similar battle, though Duncan is being thoroughly outpaced by the younger and more agile Hedge Knight. Oatwright is favoring his side far more than he had in the past rounds but his sweeping onslaughts still keeps your Knight on his back foot.

Casting another glance back you see both Victus and Arron attempting to peek their heads up to see the action, Dontos’ gaze being uninterrupted by the activity to his side. You roll your eyes and wave the children forward closer to your chair, your son’s eyes lighting up with happiness while Arron looks uncertain until his arm is nearly pulled off by Victus. Standing from your seat you decide to escort the two boys to the front of the grandstand and taking a proper view of the events standing near the balcony. Lady Racheal Conklyn is sitting there alongside Mason and Lady Elionwy, Racheal’s hands are digging into her skirts, twisting them with worry. Placing a hand upon her shoulder you receive a nervous smile and her relenting for a moment.

You lean against the balcony, flanked on either side by the boys whose eye level is a head above it. They stand pressed against the railing and for once you notice Arron looking excited.

“Favorites boys?” you ask light heartedly, for once you wished to enjoy the Melee not be fraught with worry of the other activities of the day.

“Ser Lucas!” Victus responds immediately, and your eyes catch him laying into Sarsfield’s shield, “And… Ser Wesley.”
>>
You laugh, of course your son would pick your own favorites. Arron meanwhile hm’s and ah’s for a moment before settling on a few, “Ser Jon Pryor and Ser Ambrose Oatwright.”

Oatwright was certainly a fair pick, he had just landed a strike on Duncan’s shoulder that seemed to shake the older Knight to his core. His guard hadn’t been up as well as it should have, instead attempting to protect his poorer side. The crashing overhead blow had left Duncan without his sword, having dropped it in the surprising amount of pain. You swear you can Duncan gritting his teeth, his sword arm hanging loose, and his shield arm swings up to ward off another blow. But his knee buckles under the strain and he collapses to it. Oatwright takes this opportunity to land hammerblow after hammerblow into the shield, the white fish upon a field of green being quickly chopped to splinters. The iron band of his shield comes loose and the innards of the shield crumple like paper from Oatwright’s onslaught, seeing this he takes a swinging strike with a near full rotation of his body that shatters what is left of the shield and dropping Duncan in the process. His body attempts to pull itself up until a sword point finds itself near is neck, his arms go up in defeat and the first contest is decided.

Arron smiles at Victus, who ad been rooting for the Knight of your Household, and you shrug when he attempts to pull you to his side. It wasn’t too surprising in truth, Oatwright was wearing castle forged steel, and had the element of youth on his side. The crowd gives him a round of applause though their attention is split between the three other duels still occurring. You note Oatwright helping Duncan up to his feet again and feel better of having the Stormlands Knight in your service after.
>>
“Lord Brynden?” Arron asks to your right side.

“Yes Arron?”

“What kind of training will I receive? I want to fight like these Knights someday. Vic fights like Ser Dontos, but… I have not trained alongside you yet.”

You chew on the thought for a moment, watching Lucas lock swords with Sarsfield and running his mouth again. Since you had returned home you had hardly been about the yard, instead taking more time to punch arrows into a target upon the roof of the castle proper. You certainly knew how to fight in a myriad of ways, your time in Essos to be thanked for that.

Pryor launches into a rolling dodge, the banging of metal upon the hard ground echoed by the crowd’s noise to the mistimed attack of Pyle. He attempts to bring up his sword for a second strike, but his follow through leaves him too off-balanced to properly swing it, and Pryor knocks it aside with his own sword, leaving Pyle wide open. Pryor launches from a kneeling position to crash the full weight of his body into the grey giant, he had lost his shield in the roll and for once didn’t seem the incredibly well practiced Knight that you had gotten use to seeing compete. Arron cheers for once and you watch the lumber giant fall to Pryor’s spear, landing in a mess of steel and bodies on the ground both jockeying for position. Pryor finally gains the advantage mounting Pyle and taking a quick few haymakers to his helmet seemingly rattling the much larger man. Pyle however seems to still have enough left in him and gets his iron clad hands on the his attacker, launching him to the side with a rolling toss. Pryor lands with a thud and a roll, scrambling for his sword, as Pyle swings himself up for another round.

“Do you see Ser Pryor there Arron?”

“Yes Lord Brynden.”

“Watch him carefully.”

Pryor gets to is feet, wielding his sword with his off hand, meanwhile Pyle had lost his sword and was going all in on a grappling victory. The grey giant charges the knight of pink and yellow, throwing a running punch that Pryor narrowly avoids, followed up by blocking a follow up from with his swordless sword arm. Pryor takes the opportunity to drive the pommel of his sword into Pyle’s gut, though soon finds the effort fruitless and instead backs off.
>>
Pyle goes in for another charge and Pryor swings through it, like the bull fighters you once watched in Pentos. His surcoat sweeps the dust around him and he lands a solid blow with his sword to Pyle’s back, receiving an arch of pain and yell as he stumbles forward. Pryor follows through with running his sword into Pyle’s knee, turning the stumble into a full face first fall and launches himself onto the top of his opponent, driving his knees into Pyle’s side, and bring the edge of the sword against the back of his neck. For a few tense moment you wonder if Pyle is going to relent, as does the crowd, and finally the grey giant’s hands go up in surrender.
Arron looks to you starry eyed, happy to be two for two, “Do you fight like that Lord Brynden?”

“Of a sorts, Arron,” you say with a laugh, “I will say I am not so good with my off-hand as Ser Pryor is. But his versatility with a single sword from a sword and shield where many men tend to rely too heavily upon the board on their arm, that is what I will teach you. Versatility. It saved my life many times in Essos.”

Arron nods thoughtfully and turns his eyes back to the melee, Victus pulls your sleeve and you find yourself watching Wesley pound the Seven Hells out of Brune. Your son looks concerned and you can see why, your cousin had lost his helmet at some point, his dirty blonde locks of hair stuck to him with sweat, a streak of red over his left eye seemed to blind his eye but he seemed unpulsed. The single rounds were not to first blood, rather to yield or knockout and he was taking full advantage of this fact.
>>
“Why is Ser Wesley so angry father?” Victus asks, a tinge of sadness in his voice.

You frown internally, and place a hand upon your son’s shoulder. For all the hell he had seen and had yet to see he was still innocent, naive to the cruelty of the world around him. You had sheltered him to an extent, battle and war were common and he was use to seeing yourself or the Sons battered, but not angry, wrathful not like Wesley was. You worried he had been sheltered for too long, likely making Dontos’ job more difficult and the potential move away from Steadhold even more so. As his father it made these things even more difficult, you didn’t wish the evils and cruelty of Westeros on him, not in the least, but he was growing and soon you would have little choice.

Forgive me Lysa, you think to yourself for a moment. She was rarely in your thoughts of late, not like when you were in Essos, attempting to drown her memory in drink, whores, and battle. You had promised your son would be free of the politics of Westeros, that you would have a happy family in Tyrosh. You had never even used the surname forced upon him, not in his company at least, she had wished to change it once you arrived in Essos. All before she had passed. The memory stings, and your hand clenches tighter on your son’s shoulder. It was an old promise now. Forgotten. Victus was in Westeros now, in Steadhold, you couldn’t shield him from reality any longer. He was far too intelligent of a child for it anyway.

“Victus. You remember Samuel, Wesley’s brother?”

He turns his head halfway from the melee to look at you, attempting to avoid the bruise on your cheek, “Yes father.”

You sigh, maintaining eye contact, “He did something very bad Victus. This bruise, look at it son, I know you don’t like to,” you pull his chin up and he flinches away from it, “Samuel struck me Victus. Took our family’s name in vain, insulted our family. He acted a fool, and is now locked away in the tower, awaiting his trial.”

Your son breaks free of your grip and looks out to Wesley’s fight once more, “Why does that make Wesley angry then father?”

“Because now Wesley is being thrust into a position he never wanted. His brother’s foolishness leaving his family just to be the two of them, Lord Winston and himself. Just like our family is myself and Dontos. He is angry with his brother, maybe himself.”

“Does he feel wronged father? Because we are family?”
>>
You almost chuckle, your son was too quick for you, “Perhaps Victus. We will see tonight at the trial. Which you will attend.”

“Yes father,” he responds, his voice attempting to hide the nervousness. It wouldn’t be his first obviously but perhaps it would be the most meaningful.

Regardless your eyes train upon Wesley once more. His sword crashing into Brune again who has now been able to mount something of an offense against your cousin and he backs off. His face is a mask of red now, his hair matted in the blood, it running down his cheeks and nose. Wesley usually checked himself better than this, and you knew he had to be losing blood too quickly. His stance had become wobbly and his strikes were not as well trained to the target, he looked the young Knight you had once known. Brune perhaps thinks the same as he launches into an offensive trading blows with your cousin. The Knight of Brownhollow is clearly favoring his left side however, and his shield arm barely comes above his chest, mostly sticking to a tightly clenched fist upon his belt. Though you would think Wesley near blind he takes advantage of this all the same, allowing Brune to close, tanking a blow on battered shield and then unleashing a horizontal strike with his sword that sails over the shield and crunches into the right side of Brune’s helmet. The sound resounds throughout the yard and the crowd gasps, the follow through onto Brune’s obviously poorer side crumples the Knight into a heap.
>>
Victus looks on worried, clutching at your sleeve again, and Wesley falls over onto his ass, while assistance rushes onto the field. It is shortly declared Wesley is the victor by knockout, and both Knights are carted off the field. A quick glance tells you Ser Dustin Brune is clearly unhappy with the result, and Ser Aden’s sister is fraught with worry and tears upon her face. Looking back Winston looks torn, and Dontos unhappy with the result. A mixed bag of a performance.

“Father?” Victus asks again, calling your attention back.

“Yes my son?”

“May Ron and I compete in the next melee?”

You almost laugh, they were boys of 9, likely the next they would be at the most 10 maybe 11, not fit for the field yet.

Arron adds in, “We’ll be 10 soon Ser Brynden! Ser Barristan the Bold fought in his first joust at 10. We could be ready in a year, I swear!”

“Yeah we swear! Please father!”

“It is not of my interest to see my only son and squire maimed or wounded in a melee. Even in the Squire’s Melee there are boys much older and experienced than you, Ser Robb Brax is one such man,” you respond with a chuckle, “Besides who is to say I will even have another Melee in the year, hm?”

“Well the Tourney in Highgarden may have a melee!” Arron offers Victus nodding along furiously.

“And who says either of you are going to that?”

They boys look at you both with silence on their faces, “No fair! Why can’t we go!”

You laugh at point their heads back to the final duel, Lucas and Sarsfield. Perhaps you should have watched this one more carefully. Sarsfield had lost his helmet at some point and has been goaded into responding to Lucas’ words. You shake your head finally catching a few words from Lucas, that cocky smile of his wasn’t just for show it would seem. Sarsfield charges in and they exchange blows again, rolling off one another to opposite sides of the field, the crowd’s roar masking most of the strokes of steel. Glancing about you notice Ser Jon Longwaters having come back alone, sitting with the Rambton brothers, all cheering on their feet for Lucas. The crowd has been solidly behind Lucas since the beginning and few have forgotten Sarsfield’s homeland in the Westerlands.
>>
Lucas throws his arms out wide soaking in the crowd’s response and Sarsfield looks on annoyed, deciding to charge his opponent again. However your Knight knows better and rolls to the side, allowing Sarsfield’s sword to clip his own and punishing Sarsfield’s exposed back with a chop from his shield. The bloody red seahorse is still wearing predominantly upon it and he brings it up close to his chest, waiting for the counter act that he wards off with ease. Lucas lashes out with a few strokes, long and heavy crunching into Sarsfield’s shield, the green arrow splitting in two from one. Sarsfield mounts his own attack but is warded off by Lucas’ shield and he bounces back out of range again.

The two Knights give each other a good once over, Lucas’ mouth is finally stilled. They both discarded their shields, the crowd roaring its approval and crash into one another locking swords at the ilt once more. Their faces are a mere inches from one another, eye trained upon one another. They hold for a long moment, neither wishing to back down, the crowd quiets to a murmur, and then you see it. Sarsfield breaks eye contact, his eyes cast down and he nods, allowing his sword to be taken from his hands with Lucas’ momentum. He raises his hands and yields, much to the approval of the crowd. Lucas takes the opportunity to drink it in again, bowing towards the grandstand locking eyes with his newly married wife and yourself a moment after. He turns and walks back to his foe, and offers a hand, that Sarsfield takes before raising your friend’s arm. An honorable victory Dontos would say, at least the jaw jacking lead to something of a mutual respect.
>>
Victus is tugging on your sleeve again, demanding answers, Arron quietly stares at you waiting with his next retort, you laugh and place a hand on their shoulders, leading them back up to Dontos and your seat, “Tell you what boys. The day you are able to defeat myself or Ser Dontos, respectively mind you, in a spar is the day you may enter the Melee. Do not forget Ser Barristan is an exception to the rule, and he still lost his first joust. You are young yet, practice and patience your time will come.”

“Yes father./Yes Lord.” they say together and walk off when you pat them both and finish laughing. They chatter excitedly about the melee again, seeming unfazed by the momentous challenge placed before them. Dontos shakes his head and you shrug, dropping back into your seat to await the beginning of the semifinals.

Bets on who is winning?

I say Pryor.
>>
>>45362705
Lucas is on a fucking roll mate
>>
The semifinals are set, Ser Lucas Longwaters and Ser Jon Pryor, followed by Ser Wesley Hayford and Ser Ambrose Oatwright. Dontos seems to approve of them at least, well he hasn’t voiced any dislike of it at least. Your Uncle walks to your side when you wave him forward, his footsteps falling heavy on the wood aftering having stood all day long in his armor.

“Thoughts Dontos?”

“They will never have a chance to fight in a Melee if those are the conditions.”

You laugh, “Perhaps they’ll beat you in your old age.”

“In forty years then?”

“Give or take thirty.”

“Funny.”

There was a brief moment between the quarterfinals and semifinals, you gladly took the opportunity to finish another glass of wine, while Dontos filled you in on his opinions of the field. He had a particularly liking for Ser Jon Pyle and Ser Jon Pryor being of the opinion the latter would win after his duel with the giant grey Knight. For the most part he liked what he saw on the field, at least of the final twenty. Being of again the opinion that the melee had been an excellent idea and would serve the House well. The local influence it would bring would only be gravy going into the next month, something your House sorely lacked in the Crownlands.
>>
The crowd comes to life again when the four knights come back to the field, marching in front of your grandstand and bowing before you as they had before before splitting off to the two halves of the field. Lucas is wearing his full helmet this time, clearly taking his opponent seriously this time. Wesley looks like an absolute wreck, a long stretch of quick stitches holds back the tide of crimson, likely Benjin’s work. The crowd falls to silence again watching the flag, clearly excited even in the late afternoon. With a flick of your wrist the flag falls and the crowd roars into life after. Oatwright barrels into Wesley and they are quickly off, Oatwright’s greatsword sinking into your cousin’s shield, sparks flying as it scrapes across the iron band as he bounds back.

Lucas and Pryor circle one another, the Knight of the Pebble falling back into his practiced defense. Lucas watches carefully, being clearly more of the offensive of the two, and takes a step towards Pryor, exchanging their first blows.

“Pryor and Wesley.”

“I’d say Lucas and Wesley, Uncle.”

“Pryor is the better Knight of the two, Lucas simply knows how to goad people into mistakes, Pryor is far too experienced to do fall for that.”

Deciding to change the subject to something more amusing you turn to your Uncle, “So Uncle. How did Ser Cyrus Chyttering challenge you to a duel?”

“Seven Hells Brynden, I’ve no want to speak of that.”

“Then how are things with Lady Alexes? I hear she is-”

“No Brynden.”

Have we set ourselves up to over extend our resources? I feel like we won't be spending anything on wealth and power like we should be on things at home. And then there's the new defense stuff which we really should be buying too. I'd like to buy the curtain wall and the tower thing that dad was talking about before.

“Come now Dontos, Lady Alexes is a lovely woman. Like a well aged wine.”

Your uncle fixes you with a heavy stare, “She is a she-devil in disguise.”

“Lovely. As I said. She speaks very highly of you.”

“Well aware nephew,” he grinds out and turns his head towards the melee again hoping for reprieve.

Oatwright and Wesley seem to be an even match for one another, both going at full tilt. You assume Wesley has more in reserve than Oatwright, as he had fought this way literally in every battle, but he did not seem to be ready to let up yet. As surprising as that was. Wesley is clearly in poor shape, but seems to be matching his opponent’s intensity on pure adrenaline alone. You’ve little doubt his wound hasn’t reopened itself, and you can only imagine he is in a great deal of pain at present moment. Another sweeping strike burrows into Wesley’s shield and you can tell he’s beginning to buckle under the strain. His sword lashes out to ward off the fresher opponent and he attempts to push an offensive, his sword strikes hitting home on the back footed Oatwright. But they are weak and wobbly, often looking misplaced and Oatwright is able to push them off and regain his footing.

“Tell me at least is it going well?”

Dontos rolls his eyes, fingers rasping upon his pommel, “It… Goes nephew. She is aggressive, to say the least. Small wonder Ser Cyrus never satisfied her.”

“Oh do tell, have they-”

“Not like that Brynden. Seven. Not every woman is some Ess-”

You fix him with a level gaze.

Dontos clears his throat, “Regardless. No, Lady Alexes simply demands the… Attentions due to her as a Lady at court. Ser Cyrus fights for them, but she hands them to me, much to my chagrin. Somehow she twists these things to be of mine own doing and want, and Ser Cyrus is driven to madness in the process. Escorts about the grounds. Small favors. ...dances.”
>>
You almost burst out into laughter before noticing the melee again after Dontos’ eyes widen.

Wesley looks to be breathing heavily now, his breast plate heaving and he tears his helmet from his head, hoping to suck down more air for a moment. Unfortunately as you guessed his wound had reopened and his hair again sat in his eyes with fresh matted blood. He sways side to side, and Oatwright almost hesitates for a moment, looking to the herald who only shrugs when Wesley does not answer his call. Seeing this as an opportunity Oatwright dashes forward, winding his sword up across his chest and carrying through with strike cracking into Wesley’s shield that barely stands while he falters and falls to a knee.

He’s going to kill himself you think, and for moment consider calling the match yourself, Wesley may be mad with wroth and grief but not so much so as to deserve suicide. Your hand grips upon the chair and for almost stand, but as soon as your mind had decided it was time to call this match you watch Wesley completely falter, simply falling to the side under the weight of his shield and Oatwright’s blow. The herald is quick to call the match and the people rush the field, gathering Wesley up. To your left his father looks almost sick, and gathers himself, bidding you a quick goodbye and leaving off in a hurry, of which you could not blame him.

“Brynden, may I may be honest with you? Regarding Steadhold? This marriage?”

So how about we start upgrading our units with our wealth after house fortunes? Because really we are going to get that wealth.
>>
>>45370852
We need population as well
>>
>>45370871
My bad. I meant equipment upgrades. Each upgrade costs a wealth. If we get enough bank we can go crazy maxing out our units with crazy shit or even get mantles for the arbalesters. Of course this only if other anons agree.
>>
Time to bring up a bunch of uncomfortable questions on dad's ask, wooo
>>
>>45370852

But we also have wealth to spend on Benjin. And things in on crackclaw point.

And we have to burn power on them too and with the longwaters.

I think we fucked up.
>>
Random idea that came into my head for the arbalesters.

Volley Fire: The arbalesters Fire three volleys of bolts at a target. The second volley incurs a -2 to marksmanship the effect is increased to -4 for the third. If the unit is equipped with mantlets the penalty is reduced to -1 and -3 respectively. The unit is unable to attack the following two turns after the attack regardless of success or not.

If the unit is equipped with mantlets the morale penalty for being in the field is reduced to -2.

Like I said random thoughts tear it to shreds and maul the fuck outta it then throw it against the wall and let's see if anything sticks.

>>45378642
Personally I don't really care about our military cap one way or another for now.

We have one. Redward doesn't. Redward has Cersei's support, we... have become something of a liability to Jon Arryn.

Therefore (until we're a lot more established than we currently are) if we enter into an open engagement with him we lose anyway. Doesn't matter whether we recruit all the troops we can, because he can recruit more.

I guess you might have a view towards being strong enough that the Celtigars reconsider their plans for the point. That would certainly be the ideal. What Jon wants most is stability inside the realm, because it lends legitimacy to his new King. And if we work to secure that stability then we're a more valuable tool in his eyes, and he might stick out his neck for us a bit more: but we're already doing that with the caravanserai arrangements.

I mean, what we need most of all is a way to bleed Redward without letting him know that it's us raining on his parade - which is why I tried to push for an off-the-books guerilla unit who would harass him pretty much constantly a while back.

Really, though, that's petty. His biggest advantage is his allies. If we can drive a wedge between him and them he looks a lot weaker, and a war with him suddenly looks a lot more favourable to us and people who were hesitant to ally with us before because it would mean making powerful enemies.

Or we could try and find a way to bankrupt the fucker. Maybe ambush of his tax collectors. Paying for the massive horde of criminals and mercenaries he's sitting on can't be cheap. They'd be pissed if he couldn't pay one day.
>>
>>45378925

Obviously we claim it's from her volantene lover - a far-travelling mercenary venturer from an impoverished branch of their valyrian aristocracy, desperately trying to earn enough coin to buy a manor out in the country for them to comfortably retire to - with enough to provide Isis with the life and comforts she deserves.

Why haven't you seen him? Well, he doesn't visit often, and he's a very private person.

Why haven't you even heard of him? What, do you have an encyclopedic knowledge of all fifth-born sons from every minor noble house of Essos?

You do?

So that would place Chelsted to the west. So basically mirror its position right now and it'll be perfect.

I see that some of our units as N/A on their upgrades. What can we do to give them upgrades ?

I would greatly like if we got

First Regiment
The Sons of Gold
Malroy Heavy Cavalrymen
Steadhold Household Garrison

Upgraded
>>
>>45399828
Upgrades are pic related. Each upgrade costs 1 Wealth and are:
Armor Rating
Fighting Damage
Marksmanship Damage

Right now The Loyal Boys and Steadhold Household Knights both have a couple of these.

Otherwise, armor, weapons and mounts can be upgraded from common to superior from a couple different means.

Having the warhorse herds gives all mounted units the Superior Courser.

Having the Myrish Weaponsmith gives all crossbow units Superior Crossbows. Which is a +1 Damage.

The Mastersmith will give everyone using steel Superior Weapons. Which again is a +1 Damage.

And etc.

You can buy these upgrades for 2 Wealth each. But if you have something like the Valuable Mine(Iron) or Animal Husbandry>High-Quality Leatherworks it would only cost 1 Wealth.

A side note. Since you put money into upgraded Mason to Master-of-Arms you get a free upgrade of any of the first type to all units. This will come into effect when the build time for the holding is up in 5 Months.
