Sasuke is right. You should head home to get some rest. But first, a little walk might clear your head.

You make your way around town, taking everything in. Things seem fairly normal, but you can't help but feel like things are slightly different in some way you can't describe. The one thing you do take note of is not spotting a single Uchiha on patrol. Very strange for this time of night, and on the day of the Chunin Exams no less. But it could just be coincidence.

After a time, you eventually reach home.

The restaurant looks different somehow. As if it didn't recently get renovations. You ignore it and head inside.

There are less people than usual. Just a couple of tables are occupied. You wouldn't think business would slow down this fast right after the Chunin Exams.

"Kon? Kon, is that you?" you hear your uncle from the kitchen. He comes out, looking a bit more haggard than usual. His eyes go wide at when he sees you. "What are you wearing? Is that a flak jacket? Just what are you thinking?!"

"Hey Keiji, sorry, but I think I messed up another dish." another voice comes from the kitchen. You don't recognize this one.

The man emerges to your absolute surprise. You know him, but only from seeing him in pictures. He has a bandanna over his hair, but you can tell it's the same as yours. In general the man looks almost exactly like you, save for a couple of facial features.

From what you can obviously see, things aren't right for Sasuke either.

Just then, a voice calls out from behind you.

"Sasuke?" It sounds familiar, but it couldn't be. "What are you doing back in the village?"

You and Sasuke turn to see Naruto Uzumaki, in black and orange jumpsuit, wearing a leaf headband. Sakura is standing right next to him, looking concerned.

"I could ask you the same thing, Naruto Uzumaki." Sasuke responds, getting into a fighting stance. "Sakura, get away from him! He's dangerous!"

You know, it occurs to me that while our timeline might be in worse shape overall due to our lack of dei ex machinae, to canon Naruto we must look like we're doing awesome. Everyone he knows who's died, with the exception of Hiruzen and Choza, is alive in our timeline and doing great. And even Hiruzen got an extra few months of life in which he got to spend time with his grandson and pass along his ideology to him and us. We got alliances going with Stone and Wind long before his Konoha did, we've sealed the Three-Tails properly unlike his failed mission (assuming we're counting filler, in the manga he never even knew about it in time), and we killed Orochimaru before he could do anything really nasty. We've even got a happy and friendly Sasuke whose whole clan is alive and is super loyal to Konoha, and a Neji who's genuinely at peace with his life and is making tangible strides towards improving the status of the Branch Hyuuga. Sure, Hinata's an evil traitor but he barely even knows who she is at this point in the timeline. For all that we talked last thread about how our continuity is the perfect wish fulfillment for Sasuke, it might be even better for Naruto. Well, ignoring that whole "in that timeline I'm a horribly monster" part.

I feel like Kon should babble nervously trying to explain this without getting our alt-self in trouble. For all of the anons in these threads arguing about who we want to waifu, Kon doesn't actually have that much experience talking with girls romantically, and we just got shoved in the deep end that way, in a manner we were completely unprepared for.
