You bring the news of the gods blessings and support for the temple to the tribe and movement finally starts to be made. The most eager for the blessings of the gods include Mesut and his family, who promptly head upstream and float back strong, tall tree trunks down the river. Apparently, Enki and Isu are as good as their words, as Mesut claims they found a deadfall where the materials were simply waiting to be carried to the riverbank.

Soon the tranquil silence of the grove is broken, as in small groups, the tribe follows your directions. The first step is the beginning of digging a ditch around the grove, carrying earth from further afield too, to pile into a mound, to elevate the eventual temple above the surrounding forest. It's hard, dirty work, but with Maar and Ursa's strength empowering everyone who treads the land within the grove's boundaries, work proceeds apace.

Work has to be cut somewhat short after a few days however, at least for some of the tribe, as the yearly festival of the Sacred Heavens rolls around. After the usual prayers and offerings, the hymn you created certainly seems well-received, as once again, the crowd feels a light blessing settle over them, granting a little relief from the cold air and aches that are just a part of living with winter.

Winter keeps the whole tribe close to the fires and within their homes, sheltering from the cold wind and the flurries of snow and sleet that it carries with it. It is a time for family and friends and it's no exception for your much-diminished household. You take the chance to talk with Noh and ask him the occasional, seeking question about the future. He seems to have little idea what his future years may yet hold for him, preferring for now to simply shadow you.
"Is there really nothing?" you ask, but Noh simply shrugs.
"I've never even been hunting. Fishing and farming is easier, less dangerous and gives everyone plenty of food. It's interesting to hear the traders talk, I suppose, but..." He trails off, looking into the fire. Your son's twelve, a young man, but seems to have little of your ambition to leave a great legacy; Sera's energetic fire; or Ebba's introspection. Still, perhaps a time will come that will give him cause to find his path... Or then again, if you were more like him, your parents probably would have been spared a few grey hairs when you were his age.

You try to teach Noh how to use magic. It's really not that hard, now that you have the knack for it, so it should be easy to explain, right?
No such luck... Magic not only proves hard to explain, but far more complicated to teach than you imagined. It quickly becomes clear that your and Ebba's talents are rare, or at the very least, hard to refine in someone like Noh. He isn't an inattentive student, but while he understands what you try to talk to him about, he finds it impossible to mimic your ability with even the simplest spells. It could just be that he needs more practice, or there could be more to it.

Part of your attempt to teach your son involves offering Elia a little healing magic. If not for the Heavenly Gods blessing, he'd be feeling it a lot worse, but even so, the cold of winter is starting to get into his joints, slowing his work on the painted mural of your clan's history. His complaints start to subside, as the weather slowly warms however.

It is now early spring. Most of the tribe is working in the fields, planting the crops. What will you do?

With the tribe happily pre-occupied with planting the year's crops, rather than helping build the temple, you decide that it's high time you took a trip back up the valley. You haven't seen Myslik in years and you're honestly curious how the huge, powerful man and his clan are faring, since your clan abandoned the hunting lands you'd relied upon since time out of mind.

While the walk to the strangers village is relatively trouble free, you meet a horribly unpleasant surprise, as you approach the village. Lying on a wicker frame, raised above the ground, amid a small field of others, is the dead form of the mountainous Myslik, being pecked at by a crow who's ability to deflect your touch-sight can only mean is Awak.
"Godspeaker," he croaks with a mocking nod of his head. "Come to pay a visit? You won't get much conversation out of this one, I'm afraid. He's been dead for some time. Thoughtful of these humans to leave him out for myself and mine." You hear him snicker as you stare in shock. You've not visited in so long, you hadn't even known he was sick and now, you are without a friend among the strangers.

For Myslik's sake, you're welcomed, but they warn you that you may not be so welcome for long. Much of your goodwill with the strangers died with Myslik, but time healed any wounds inflicted by your actions concerning Beren. You are left with a blank slate, but it's clear your blindness and the dozens of feather-light touches that you see your surroundings and the faces of the people you talk to with, are unsettling for the strangers, even more so than your own clan. Myslik's son, a giant of a man only slightly smaller than his father and one of the contenders for the position of chief, recoils in fear and disgust as he glimpses your blackened forearm.

You do your best to ignore the internal rivalries that surround the aspiring chiefs (of which there are three) and instead just ingratiate yourself with the clan. You swap stories of life further down the valley and discover that they too have contact with the nomads, although their trade is not quite as brisk as yours, due to lacking a great abundance of food.

You succeed in making a handful of friends among the Strangers, so much so that you learn finally that they have a name for themselves. They call themselves the 'Sunish' which in their language means 'Mighty'. Everyone else to them is 'mikhia' or ironically enough, 'strangers'. The humour is not lost on them either.

In spite of your frightening appearance, you're at least accepted by the Sunish now. Your sightless face is recognised and they know you as harmless and polite. Even though it was years ago, the fact that you gave your spear to Myslik is still regarded as a sign of trust between your people; he was even offered to the sky with it. Come to that, the few mentions you make of the gods attract great interest. The Sunish ask you if Tengr has ever made stars fall from the sky, as is told in their oldest stories. You've never seen it yourself, but you nod and shrug, saying that it's entirely possible. That suggestion alone sparks great discussion and excitement among the clan.

Soon though, it is quietly made clear to you that it's time to leave. Things are starting to get fractious in the camp and Myslik's widow quietly advises you that you may be in danger, if a chief is not found soon. You make your farewells and leave back to your village.

We could see if any of the sunish families wish to join our clan, hopefully we can get some of them to move down here and the rest will either follow or die off in their attempts to decide on a leader.

Once the power struggle stops, we could likely find a family or two that is discontent with the current change of leadership enough to move to our side with out causing a disturbance. Along with trade, seeing what kind of tech they have would be great. And trading food for it. Possibly hire some muscle with the extra food from the clan.
Say during the farming seasons, and gathering material for our next project. Shrine for heavenly gods or something.

But I do think they would have more warrior related tech improvements which could be nice. Them seeing our production of food, may cause envy. Idk if enping for war, but we could pacify them by either absorbing them, via buying all their willing warriors and young to work for food. Or buying all their war tech if they are more advanced than us, and find their weaknesses and fortify our homes and our "base".

As far as i am aware they have no significant tech advantage but seeing as until a generation ago they were migratory outside the valley we might learn of the position of some of the places, other tribes including where they get copper ore and where it is refined, the traders go. Plus more people-power and unity of the tribes means we get our eyesight back.

What i want though is for them to join under our "clan" in our tribe rather than just become part of the tribe; this is mostly because it would make us more powerful but also cause it would give us greater connections to them.

We should buy tech, with our huge oversupply of food. Ask about what they have that we don't that they could trade for food.

I don't know if wheels have been invented yet. I know animals of burden have been tamed. But having wheels and transport tech would increase productivity. Especially if we could hire the sunish for manual labour.

Under your exhortation, work resumes on the temple. Earth is raised, layered with stones to hold it in place and the ditch is dug, dozens of feet pounding the earth flat and solid and strong and the two paths that will sweep around the mound and up to the top start to be dug in. It will take some time before the hill raises to its full height and grass covers it once again and just as long before it is ready for the construction that will stand atop it. Great standing stones will mark the path up to a central space where statues of the gods will stand, carved into the pillars that hold up the roof of the temple proper. Even if the roof should fall, or the walls collapse, the stones and the pillars and the mound will stand for years, even generations to come, for your children and your children's children to remember your deeds. All that is in the future however, as for now, you still need to construct your creation. Your people are motivated, but there is still a long, long way to go and the materials will not be easy to come by.

The traders are glad to see you back at the market place. They once again offer their exotic goods, but at your suggestion of them transporting raw material for the temple, the smiles fade and there's a lot of concerned discussion. Building materials are heavy and take up a lot of space they could use for smaller, lighter and higher-value goods. Your offer would have to be VERY enticing and probably include magic as well as mundane goods.
