You collapse on the ground, your legs finally giving out on you. Arms flat on the ground, you prop your body up. What just fucking happened? You suck in some air. Deep breaths, deep breaths. Closing your eyes, you think back to the last episode. Yori, after her heart-wrenching talk with you, confessed. Not to Hiro, but to you, Satoshi. You heave a great sigh. Opening your eyes, you face your best friend, who offers you a hand up.

“Thanks,” you mumble, grabbing his hand and pulling yourself up. “I still can't tell if this is real or not.”

“Why wouldn't it be?” Hiro abashedly puts a hand to your shoulder. “I think Yori's liked you ever since we were kids.”

“What?” You can't even fake a smile anymore.

“Yeah,” he nods slowly. “I don't know for certain, but I think she's been looking your way ever since we all became friends.”

“I was a hundred percent sure she liked you, Hiro!” You raise your voice, exasperated. “I didn't even think for a second that she liked me.”

“I didn't really notice either. It was only recently that she told me,” Hiro scratches his head. “I suspected you figured it out when you called me. You were always good at figuring stuff out. But,” he smiles weakly. “You've always been kinda dense around other people.”

“Me? Dense?” You almost laugh at the notion, but Yori flashes through your mind and instantly your low chuckle is caught in your throat. “...I'd say you're denser.”

“Do I win the contest?” Hiro speaks softly.

“It's not a contest you want to win, man,” you state miserably. Hiro shuffles around, like he still has something to say. “Whatever it is you want to say, just say it.”

“When Yori said that we're here for you... you know that includes me too, right?” He looks over to you with hopeful eyes.

IT BEGINS

Shadow runs from last night for the people that missed it.

Theory 1: This is the anime adaption of a one shot. It explains why all the big events like valentines day and the beach episode are so closely packed together. This is a test to see how well a new premise (protagonist is in a _____ scenario and he knows it). Time constraints also explain why we have been confessed too so early on.

Theory 2: Yori is actually a lot more sick then we thought and is going to die soon. This also explains the early confession. Whoever is controlling things behind the scenes is trying to build up our character and artificially extend the run of the show by affecting us psychologically. This can be seen as lazy writing by the viewers and also a punishment for us because we keep mucking things up.

Possible solution: Force a genre shift. Get into fights on purpose and turn this into a shonen. This will make it so that the director wI'll have us (and probably Hiro if we drag him into it) fight increasingly harder enemies over a long series of arcs. The pros of this is that shonens are long as shit in run time and the chance of a possible time skip will give us years of non TV time. The cons are that we will be putting ourselves and our friends in danger. Secondary con is that this will not save Yori if she really is going to die.

My own half-baked theories from last thread:
Theory 1. our bro here is think HE IS best buddy in harem's anime and try to support us (and failing miserably) to get us a girls. All of them.

Theory 2. Everyone here is aware about its anime, but no one knows exactly which one. Patty maybe think it's a mystery, for a Shina it's a romcom, Yuko - highly random slice of life etc.. Hiro is aware too and all his denseness it's just an act.

Theory 3. Hiro is protag, and soon we gonna get our obligatory fight/reconciliation with him. Either way it's gonna end in manly tears and bruises. And it WILL convert into other genre before we even realize this. We can't prevent forceful genre shift.

My personal theory?

The show was originally about Hiro and was just going to be another harem anime, but then the writers decided to make two characters self aware and 4th wall breaking. Now the plot of the anime follows the best friend as he tries to stop his world from ending, while little does he know that the actual ending will happen when he prevents Hiro from getting all the grills.

The protagonist does something to win the affections of the girls, and then gets into some kind of perverted situation and then they hate him. This goes on forever. Now...” She eyes you directly. “Who does that describe here?”

“It actually makes sense.” She's completely determined. “Think about it.”

I've figured out the premise:
A full subversion of harem anime.
Hiro is the foil to us. Girls like him for little reason in that they barely know him personally.

We run into the girls and ended up helping them out, establishing personal connections.
These conversations had them see how nice we are, creating a harem around us.
They disliked us at first, but began liking us more over time.

But minimization of wacky harem antics (stuck in the closet with a girl then interupted by another, etc...) and more a "real" version of multiple girls liking a guy?

Hell it's a subversion even to the audience... if the focus has been our building relationships with "hiros harem", then most of our interactions have been audience veiwed.

You ignore her and try to sleep. But ignoring her might have been a bad idea. Yuko grabs your arm and uses it as her pillow. You try and move away, but she grabs ahold of you, forcing you to stay still. Still, she's soft. You'll worry about the unfortunate consequences when you wake up.

When you come to, you're face to face with a dozing Nina. What the hell? Your arm is killing you though – it's fallen asleep. Pressing up to you from behind is Yuko, snoring lightly. A light knocking is heard from your door. Oh. You yawn and prepare yourself.

Shina comes walking inside, freezing when she spots you and the other two girls under the sheets. “Wh-Wh-Wh-”

You rub your eyes wearily. “Good morning.”

“What are you doing!?” Shina rushes over, shaking your shoulders. This wakes the other two. “Did my confession not mean anything to you!?”

“Uh, it's not what it looks like?” You're still recovering from your nap.

“Mmrh, actually.” Yuko murmurs, stealing your pillow. “It's exactly what it looks like.”

Nina hops off the bed and smooths out the wrinkles in her clothes. “I was going to wake Satoshi up for lunchtime and... I fell asleep.”

Yuko smiles. “Oh, I just wanted to sleep with Satoshi." She lifts open the blanket. "Wanna join?”

“No!” Shina replies hotly, crossing her arms.

“What, even after you confessed to him?”

Shina goes completely white. “Who told you that!?”

Yuko points over to the class rep. “You just did. 'Did something something confession' and stuff.”

You're doing a great job of pretending to be the best friend. Not. You give Shina a sheepish smile. “I just woke up.”

“Yuko,” Shina ignores you. She looks over at the track team captain hesitantly. “Do you like Satoshi?”

Maybe im too naive about the tastes of our audience but i would think why would think our particular show has a smarter group of lonely neckbeards watching than average harem show.

“Weeeell, this has been fun. I'm off to get food. See you three later.” You're going to leave before anything can happen. Nina looks over to you worriedly. You give her a shrug that tells her, 'You take care of it,' before leaving.

You head over to the dining area and grab yourself some food. You take the curry and rice, as well as a coffee. You need it. You sit yourself down and silently go through your food. Patricia, oblivious to everything that has happened, smiles and sits down next to you. “Oh, Hiro. Having a late lunch?”

Between bites, you reply, “This is my breakfast.”

She giggles. “Isn't it a little to early for that?”

You sip your coffee. “I'm not a morning person.”

“It's afternoon,” she points out.

“I'm not a morning person,” you repeat. “I would've slept through the noon too, if people didn't come into my room to wake me up.”

“Ohh.” Patricia mindlessly stuff rice into her face. “I've been up since seven. I took a walk around the beach because the weather was so nice. The beach trip is great!” She smiles innocently.

God bless Patricia. She doesn't know a single thing that happened. “Yeah, I guess it is.”

“I made a lot of good memories here. I've even made some friends.” Patricia finishes the rest of her rice. “And with that, I'm satisfied.”

“Good memories, huh?”
