What is Gloria-Etalia? It is a setting which sprung up into existence when OP gave /tg/ an Empty map and people doodled things onto it. The world of Gloria-Etalia is one in the phase of the post-post-apocalypse where remnants of the once great civilizations remain like wandering cities of mimics or missile silos considered to be pyramids, but most of the ancient technology has decayed beyond recognition and barbarians control the world. Still the world is far from a dead ruin. It is a world full of nations interacting with each other, and the people interacting in turn.

Pick whatever image you want for your nation, use your image editing software of your preference to make it 500x500 (it's much easier to work with squares, trust me)
Then go to lunapic.com, upload the 500x500 image, go to the tab 'art', select the effect 'fairy' and post the result on the thread.

Religion follow - probably Gloria-Etalia, but one of the watered down regional versions. Hard to say though because most of the religions are under fluffed
Where live - One of the wealthier Westrasi sea nations
Sci-fi stuff - old bunkers, underground infrastructure, etc.

The health-and-heritage-obsessed Uroxians, which seem like just another renaissance nation with a dumb gimmick, are the product of an alien tampering with a tribe of humans using memetic indoctrination. It implanted eugenicist beliefs in its subjects, with the intention of accelerating their development. This visitor may have been Gloria, Etalia, or maybe even another lesser-known being.

I see less insect and more sleek amalgam of chitin and technology. Imagine something like a Sliver, a Myr and a Thri-Kreen walked into a teleporter - Teriads are what came out the other end. Now picture them after they've assimilated parts of a tank, where their skin grows explosive resctive armor and one of their four arms replaced with a miniature tank cannon.

>>
>>74643069
I guess but the wiki entry needs a pic. I was hoping for something that everyone agreed on. Besides, T'lc-kha need to feel an uncanny sense of resemblance whenever they see a Teriad so at the very least there needs to be some body plan similarities.
>>
Here's a description I came up with for the Teriads
>Teriads are engineered insectoid bioweapons that can absorb electronics and any machine that uses electronics. Teriads come from a time where they were once at war with an ancient civilization of humans. Said humans were prolific with their use of electronics, so much so that the presence of Teriads threatened their very existence. Humans attempted to nuke Teriads off the planet, and while the humans believed they succeeded, the Teriads became elusive and went into hiding. As the Teriads hid they survived the fall of humanity, but they were crippled by both the onset radiation and their low numbers. The radiation changed Teriads greatly and their ability to absorb technology was greatly hindered. The radiation also caused Teriads to lose their eusocial coordination, many becoming feral and self serving.

Teriads come in all shape and sizes as their form contorts to suit the technology they absorb, but they share a similar body structure to the T'lc-Kha, which are a species descendant of the Teriads. The body plan consists of a body separated into three segments, with four legs attached to the abdomen, a thorax with four limbs attached to it and a wasp like head. Some limbs or body segments may be replaced or augmented with whatever technology they come across.
Please give me criticisms so I can come up with a revised version that everyone agrees on.

Religion I would follow would be Orok'Nea, since all that she wants is strong followers. After death I'll either chill out in spider heaven or get reincarnated, and been born strong... though I should expand on the religion maybe... I missed all the talk... well I didn't want to influence the world too much with that. What do you all think?

Where I'd live would be anywhere except midland and where it's cold. Each place has its ups and downs.

For a random sci-fi aspect to a fantasy nation I'd add... perhaps the Arakneas where a scientific experiment made long ago? Or that they were introduced to the planet? Their native area used to be their enclave, now there's barely anything left... but perhaps under the swamp there could be a lab? New sub-species of Arakneas could be discovered along with the lab? That could be an origin for the species?

Uhh... Crone worship I guess? I like the idea of "that one lady who lives in the woods" which the entire village avoids but when they start dying and praying isn't helping someone knocks on her door. Except the lady in the woods has the power to make your life a living hell and you best do what she says even if it costs you your firstborn.

>Where would you like to live and why?
After running a quick little mermaid oneshot, I would love to be a river mermaid and just enjoy life with not a care in the world. Ignorance is bliss after all.

>The setting has gone way more fantasy than sci-fi. What unexpected sci-fi/post-apocalyptic aspects does a random "pure fantasy" nation have?
There is a half destroyed book in the marshes of drache called "advanced math" which contains funny witticisms like 50 cats having to go into 20 boxes of different shapes and sizes, and how would one fit them all in. Many a night is spent around the campfire suggesting answers to these perplexing questions, and the man who can answer them all with confidence is considered a wise man indeed.

Sanukinuiq culture lore dump:

The elves of Sanukinuiq have many different cultural practices and beliefs. The most obvious practice to an outsider is their instruments. Their instruments are made out of humanoid bones. These instruments are wind instruments, with many different variations of the design so no two instruments sound the same. The most common design is the Erke, which is made by taking the skulls of several humanoids and fusing them together. Most of these bone instruments are several hundred years old, and have been preserved and passed down through the ages. There are also a small number of instruments purely made out of human bone, which are considered to make the best sound. These bone instruments are used for spiritual and religious purposes. The most common uses are gazing and spirit divination, which can be read about in the religious section. Gazing is the process of shaping ice and snow to interact with sunlight to create magical, hallucinatory images. These images are inert by themselves, but are activated when certain music is played on bone instruments. They cause the listener to fall into a hallucinatory trance and are used in daily sanukinuiq life for meditation, divination, and pleasure. Snow Elves cover anything that they can with these designs. They also have a secondary effect. When viewed by non-snow elves these patterns are dangerous causing nausea, headaches, and vivid hallucinations. Only those that have been accepted officially into the tribe as a guest or an honorary snow elf are given the cure to these effects. By listening and staring for hours into certain images, non-snow elves can become immunitased which removes the secondary effect either temporarily or permanently. Snow Elf elders claim that these images have magical properties from the power of spirits and their ancestors.

>(1/3 cont.)
>>
>>74644515

>(2/3)
>(cont.)

These songs to activate the images have disseminated in the popular music of Grendarrym. The Jorden people are unaware of possible effects of the now popular strain of music. Because they don't use the humanoid bone flutes that the snow elf spirits respond to.

There are many different age related cultural practices. Bare ass dancing in snow festivals as a rite of passage to adulthood is common. When elves turn 33, they go out to a private spot and brace the winter cold to prove they don’t need anybody's help to survive. Throughout their life, hard casts of their footprints are kept as a form of familial portraiture. These are stored safely, and the oldest elven families have prints dating back to the founding of Sanukinuiq. There is a children's game called crackers where young elves see how far they can get on thin ice before someone chickens out. The person that goes the farthest wins. The name is derived from the crack of the ice when two brave elves face off against one another. It is mostly forbidden by the elders of the tribe because it is dangerous and can be deadly. Snow elves also have created the largest cemetery in the world because they believe the remains of each and every creature which isn't good enough to be used deserves to be properly buried.

Living in a place with very few natural resources, snow elves have to get crafty with their limited supplies. Sanukinuiq elves use pykrete pots and jars to store most items. Items from harpoons to sweat lodges are made out of Akhlut bones. Abstract sculptures are carved out of driftwood as tokens for sailors. Their kayaks are made from the skin and bones of many creatures, but mainly the Akhlut. Artifacts and designs that mimic Troll tails are seen as status symbols among the Snow Elves.
>>
>>74644534

>(3/3)

Sanukinuiq elves have complex family and tribal relations. First off, they bond for life. Divorce is unheard of. Family lines follow the bloodline but that includes blood brothers and sisters. These blood bonds are created to be magically binding through an ancient ritual spell, and are considered to permanently intertwine the fate of those that are blood bonded. Lineages and matrilineal. While matrilineal bastards are kept in the family as a second class runt, fraternal bastards are banished. Actual Troll tails taken in combat are enough to find a legal matrilineal line even if you are a bastard or foreigner. They have to be amputated Troll tails, and you can't amputate your own. The Snow Elves learned their lesson after Zar'kal the Troll became a Snow Elf. Voluntarily taking a curse from the Snow Elf Spirits on behalf of the locals has a hereditary result on the taker. Results vary depending on the curse, but the usage of troll tail decorations as a sign of status among Snow Elves implies that some curses required regenerative powers to survive. The cursed lineages can gain an equivalent level favor, but only with the village that it took the curse from. Calling in the favor dispels the effect and signs of the curse and places it back on the village in reduced form. This is usually used for foreigners or maternarial basters to prove themselves to the tribe, but it has also been used in peace treaties and other uncommon ways.

>Straight up bugs
I really think the teriads shouldn't resemble bugs anymore. Not that closely. Its been a few thousand years of them picking over leftover tech. They should look like piles of scrap, bizarre machines or like the creatures in Horizon Zero Dawn. By now they should be mostly tech and not clearly resemble their organic descendants.
>>
>>74646605
they till should have organic bits, not pure machines. Like they still breed.
>>
>>74646624
What if they're mostly tech by this point though? They might not breed anymore. They might just grow "larvae" in vats on their backs and just feed them tech until they are evacuated from the tank, fully formed. That sounds more like a bioweapon.
>>
>>74646605
How long do teriads live for then? Do their descendants just pick over the corpses of their parents or any dead teriad they come across?
>>
>>74647205

There is only one known 'airship' in recent memory, built from the carcass of a skywhale, by an intrepid wandering scholar employed by the Mendan University by the name of Anitte Odehum. The contraption was supposed to employ heated gas to re-float the buoyancy organ and innards, which had a basket attached to it. Surviving eyewitnesses says Anitte's vehicle managed to gain some altitude from the Nulamore village where it was built - until it suddenly exploded, showering the immediate area in rotting skywhale giblets. The unnamed village was thereon dubbed Odehum's Folly, and the incident Anitte's Mistake.
This incident singlehandedly threw back aerial progress a century behind.

>Each of the following excerpts is one of many taken from the travel journal of Xuan Yingchao, Envoy of the Celestial Empress.

>Third Excerpt – The River Rzeka

Three days ago, our expedition departed from the castle of Skalanamas with little ceremony. After our last conversation, The marquis was eager to be rid of me and I must admit, I was just as keen to have leave his company. Much like Sir Grubny and the other men who served him, Laudovas struck me as a rather vulgar man who was fixated with martial prowess. In other words, he was little more than a Tnz'qran warlord in Westrasi clothes.

Led by Sir Grubny, we travelled south towards the Rzeka, which splits the country of Leixi-Airoxia in two. By the time that we could see the river, the land around us had transformed. The rolling pastures populated by nothing but cattle and sheep were nowhere to be seen, and had been replaced by burgeoning fields sown with all manner of crops. Wherever we looked, the common folk were hard at work, though they could never be as industrious as the slaves of the Celestial Empire. After all, the agriculture of Suoxi Dan-Dio is without compare.

On more than one occasion, we were stopped by soldiers patrolling soldiers, who were as suspicious of Sir Grubny as they were of our expedition. Each time, the knight explained that he was charged with accompanying us to the nearest port by his lord, and we were allowed to depart. By that point, it was evident that we had arrived in the domain of the Leixi. Even then, they had struck me as far more civilised than the Airoxians that they share the country with.
>>
File: Wybrupe Wharf.jpg (213 KB, 1260x608)
213 KB
213 KB JPG
I was further impressed by the Leixi when we arrived at the port town of Wybrupe. The streets of the settlement were clean despite the significant population of the settlement, and the common folk carried themselves in a suitably meek fashion. Most of the structures were made of stone as well as wood, though I found their style of construction to be rather unpleasant to behold. From what I have observed so far, the Westrasi do not have much taste when it comes to aesthetics of any sort. If I have to take a guess, it is that the appreciation of beauty is something unique to the Celestial Empire.

A short journey through Wybrupe took us to the bank of the Rzeka, which is quite a broad river. I had difficulty seeing anything on the other side of its waters. A wharf waited for us at the water's edge, where many boats were moored. Using coin provided to him by his lord, Sir Grubny paid our passage on one of these vessels and bade us farewell, in his usual manner. I have no doubt that he was eager to return to Laudovas, so that he might assist him in battling other Airoxians. I will never understand such a barbaric way of life.

As for the boat that shall carry us to the city of Tharnux, it is a rather strange thing. It is long and slender like a narrowboat, yet it is of the same size as the junks that we use to sail the Dan-Fo. At the same time however, it uses oars for the purpose of propulsion as well as sails. Is this the sort of ship that is used to traverse the Westrasi Sea? It is not a particularly spacious vessel, and many of the expedition's guards have no choice other than to sleep on the floor beside the sailors.

As I write this entry, I sit at the ship's edge beneath the midday sun. I find pleasure in watching the fertile fields that surround the Rzeka pass us by, but I cannot help but wonder what Tharnux will be like. Who has more influence there, the war-like Airoxians or the diligent Leixi? In only a few days, I shall be able to find this out for myself.

When first belara iteration was created? And when uoro-belara split happened?

Probably at some point during Antiquity. The Westrasi timeline is one of those weird things, where the Westernmost nations supposedly formed shortly after they emerged from bunkers, but then that means that those countries are either close to five thousand years old, or they emerged after the Gloria-Etalia visit, which makes the prominence of the Gloria-Etalia faith a bit of a weird thing.

Could you please link me to articles that state that? Unles its some extreme exception it should be purged. First nation states could have emerged after GE left, but those are like elam, or indus valey civilizations to us - almost nothing except archeological artefacts remains.

Do you think this protobelara should be older than verani empire?

The Lazari Confederation and Kingdom of Uoro tie together to tell the origin of the entire Westrasi people.

>Meta-Lore: The great metal lined caves of ancient relics, were actually a system of bunkers where elite members of the ancient bygone society and their extended families hid during the nuclear extinction event at the dawn of our current world. When they ran out of resources, they were forced to exist the bunkers. They found the mountain range inhospitable, and most of that area and northward and westward were still on the tail-end of a nuclear winter. They migrated southeastward to the site of modern Uoros, where they found a more temperate forest and settled. This is the true secret origin of Westrasi Hunter-Gatherers.

>The Westrasi came into prominence under the shelter of their Northwestern Forest, in the southernmost tip, when the lands to the North where still frozen in their ever-winter. Vestrasia, the first and current capital, was built in the center-most point of their river, which provided all they needed in the early days. Growing stronger and more ambitious in the cradle of their green garden, they began to venture south, to avoid the "cursed" lands to their east. They found a way around the Wyrdlands, but they also found new people. Small, but useful people. Caught in the fervor of their ambition, they began enslaving the smaller, and relativley defenseless people. With a new and exceptionally crafty labor force, the Westrasi were able to grow in power and expand into previously unconquerable lands. Around this time the ever-winter of the North began to wain, and a second capital was built; called Vestlaria.
>>
>>74652132
And Vestlaria becomes Belara, by the way.

>Vestlaria became the port of exploration for the Westrasi world. There was a major divide between the global explorers. The Academics, and the Enterprising. The academics thought that the goal of mankind should be to explore, aquire all the knowledge that they could, and enlighten society as whole, to create a paradise on earth. The enterprising believed that exploring the world, and aquiring knowledge was useless, unless you had great power, and ever-expanding your own civilization was the end-goal of these former ventures. Unsurprisingly, the enterprising types had a majority control in both ruling class and military. A revolutionary academic named Voros led an uprising in Vestlaria, but the academic forces were much less militaristic. They were ultimately defeated, and fled back to the all but forsaken Vestrasia. Those in Vestlaria deemed their homeland no longer useful, and ceased pursuit before wasting the resources of crossing the southern mountains. Vestlaria became Belara over time, and continued a tradition of power-hungry expansionism for many years. Vestrasia made Voros a Sage-King, and the Kingdom of Voros became the Kingdom of Uoros. Although most former slaves were now in Vestlaria, they outlawed slavery upon the founding of the new kingdom, to prevent it's tpxic grasp from taking hold in their culture again. With a natural inclination for intellectualism, they developed systems of Meritocracy and Geniocracy, which grew into a governmental parliament naturally, as the succession of sage-kings realized their own position of absolute power was antithetical to their beliefs. Their society continued the tradition of exploration, but for the love of knowledge and adventure. Becoming a center for knowledge, and passage from Western Westrasi to Eastern Westrasi, and the rest of the world.

I knew of this, so i was suprised when you told me those countries remerged after colapse, for me it was clear they reverted to prehistoric levels of society, and then at some point they they start some agricultire and cities, and then comes gloria etalia. But i think its all realy vauge. Like its hard to make something out of it, because at one point you are on level of founding 2 capitals, and then you are in age of global exploration, Then split happens, and once again - its all vauge.
If you are author of this, could you please use some dates for those events?

I'm not, so I'd like to know at what point Gloria-Etalia arrives and at what point Gloria-Etalia departs. Did they come while all of the Westrasi were still stuck in that forest, or did they come after Vestrasia, the proto-Uorosian city had already been established?
>>
>>74652488
Since GE arival in unimportant and departure is already on timeline, but yeah good questions. I feel like while well writen, this part of story could do some recreation, because of its waugenes.

>>
>>74652534
I think it requires some explanation. I'd like to know how Gloria-Etalia interacts with the Westrasi and what the region's like geopolitically at that time, since they develop into the region that worships Gloria-Etalia than any other, so surely the aliens must have had some significant impact on their culture.
>>
>>74652574
i think closest on what we have as explanation for pre departure interaction was:
>Two other ships were more curious. They were called Gloria and Etalia. Alien creatures that were on board brought seeds of civilization back to this world. Writing and reading, simple metallurgy and more. They also brought supplies, and everywhere they went they brought happiness and hope. Future generations remembered Gloria and Etalia as gods, or goddesses that depending on their mythology created the world, humans, or were just protectors of planet, so they named it after them. Gloria and Etailia created a paradise for man to live in harmony under their rule.
And for post departure:
>Following departure there was created one nation unifing whole continent, or atleast that’s how westrasi like to remember this period. All nations unified under one banner. Hoever there is no historical accounts of such creation, just oral tradition reinforced and writtend down after creation of Church of Gloria Estalia in middle Antique age. In fact historical writings from the period, from Celestial Empire describe this region as divided, and no less barbaric than rest of the world.

>The following excerpt is one of many taken from the travel journal of Xuan Yingchao, Envoy of the Celestial Empress.

>Fourth Excerpt – Tharnux and the Leixi

After two more days of sailing down the Rzeka, we finally arrived at the city of Tharnux, the capital of the Leixi-Airoxian Commonwealth. As much as I enjoyed the sights during our journey, I was glad that I was able to walk more than ten steps without worrying about hitting a wall or falling into the water. As soon as we left the vessel, we were greeted by the sight of a city that made Wybrupe look insignificant. Behind every building, there always seemed to be a greater structure. This cycle ended in a pair of great citadels, which towered above everything else.

When I led the expedition away from the harbour, I was greeted by a company of soldiers clad in shining armour and wielding strange pole weapons. Their leader wasted no time in questioning me and to begin with, he was just as crass as Sir Grubny. As soon as I informed him that I was an envoy from the Celestial Empire and a representative of the Empress Dan Ning herself, his attitude changed. He immediately apologised for his caution and ordered a contingent of his soldiers to lead us to the Grazimas. The officer must have seen my bemusement, for he informed me that it was the name of the royal palace. Having spent most of the past two weeks sleeping in a tent or in the bowels of a ship, I was elated when I heard that.

As I was led through the city of Tharnux, I quickly came to the conclusion that it was dominated by the Leixi, rather than the Airoxian. The common folk were tireless, the streets were clean and I saw little sign of the strife and martial prowess that Grubny and Laudovas venerated. The expedition that I led was regarded with equal parts awe and suspicion as we approached as the Grazimas, but no one was openly hostile towards our presence.

When we arrived at the Grazimas, we were met by a representative of King Szyćak, a woman who called herself Gyvatya. The dress that she wore was so elaborate that I felt embarrassed by the fact that I hadn't been given the chance to change my own clothes. Despite this, she greeted us with a smile and disarming words, and led us on a tour through the royal palace. We were given the chance to admire vast corridors decorated with the portraits and sculptures of the previous monarchs, and to walk through grand halls of polished stone that were no doubt used for ceremony.

During this tour, she explained the history of the Leixi-Airoxian Commonwealth to us, though her perspective of past events was as important to me as the objective truth. Gyvatya placed a great deal of emphasis on the importance of order, from the days when the Leixi first united the disparate lords of Airoxia beneath their rule, to the recent “Purge of Chaos” when King Szyćak subdued the errant Airoxians. She spoke very highly of him and went out of her way to describe him as the one true king of the Westrasi Sea, who is destined to bring stability to the region. I had my doubts, but at the time, I admired her enthusiasm and her commitment to civilised society.

Once the tour and the telling of history was complete, Gyvatya led us to a hall where she had a demonstration arranged for us. When we arrived we beheld half a dozen men, one of whom was sat before a large wooden box decorated with a series of painted toggles, while the others held similar boxes of a smaller size in their arms. Once we had seated ourselves, we discovered that these men were musicians and their boxes were actually instruments. We were treated to hours of elegant and soulful music, though it was a touch too melancholic for my taste and by the end, it had grown quite tiresome. Despite that, I will always wonder how the performers were able to coax music out of those chests.

By the time that the musicians had played their last, it was close to evening and Gyvatya informed us that it was time for us to eat. She must have been arranging the meal with servants, while we were occupied with the performance. When we arrived at the chamber where the food was laid out, we discovered tables covered with all sorts of Leixi delicacies. Though I admire the effort that was put into the banquet, I must confess that I do not consider Commonwealth cuisine to be very palatable.

Much like the feast at the castle of Skalanamas, spiced broth was an important component of the meal. Almost every vegetable and fish on the table had been preserved in vinegar, which left them rather damp and sour. As for the meat, it had either been stewed with the pickled vegetables or ground down, encased in skin and smoked. I found myself rather overwhelmed by the combined smoke, spice and sourness of the food on display, but if there was any particular dish that I enjoyed, it was a certain sweet that I ate at the end. It was a rather dense sort of cake that had been spiced with ginger, and was very moreish.

Once the meal was concluded, we were each given rooms of our own to retire to. The furniture found within was rather finely crafted, and the fabric in particular was luxuriously soft. Perhaps even too soft, as the plushness of the cushions and the mattress made it rather difficult to find any sleep in the bed that I was given. I felt smothered, trapped in a cloying and gentle embrace that was as suffocating as it was meant to be pleasant. In hindsight, perhaps this is an appropriate metaphor for Leixi hospitality.

The following three days were repeats of the first, though each of them had something unique about it. In addition to stirring music and cuisine of debatable quality, we were treated to a walk through the royal gardens, having our portraits painted by the king's artists and observance of a religious ceremony. In particular, the ceremony was rather interesting, as it gave me some insight into the deity that the Westrasi worship. They give it two names, Gloria and Etalia, which are typically spoken as one. Despite this duality, the idol and the religion both seem to have a single-minded focus on the importance of civilisation, law and order.

At times, I tried to speak with the diplomat that was assigned to us in greater depth, but Gyvatya was always rather dismissive. Every time I tried to mention the ways of the Suoxi, she expressed little interest and always found a way to change the topic back to the Commonwealth. For a while, I simply assumed that she was focused on the task that she had been assigned. It was after the religious ceremony that I revealed the truth, when Gyvatya approached with a rather unusual prospect. She suggested that if I truly enjoyed my stay and that I found Tharnux to be more welcoming than my homeland, then I was welcome to remain in the Grazimas, as a permanent guest of King Szyćak.

At that moment, I was struck by realisation. Every smile that I had been given was one of condescension. This hospitality was not simply a gesture of politeness, but an attempt to prove the cultural superiority of the Leixi. The ultimate goal? To have me remain in their home, evidence that their culture is magnificent enough to have me abandon the Celestial Empire for them. Suddenly, I recognised that the Leixi are as arrogant and conceited as the Airoxians are war-like. They are obsessed with proving that their nation is greater than any other. It is something that they will never be able to prove, for no country is equal to the Suoxi Dan-Dio.

I write this entry from a vessel that I have chartered, that shall take us from Tharnux to LaBaton, the capital of the Kingdom of Euraxia. When I announced our departure to Gyvatya, she seemed somewhat deflated and lost a great deal of interest in our expedition. She knew that she had failed in her efforts to seduce us. We were dismissed from the Grazimas without much fanfare, though I was allowed to take a small case of those spiced cakes with me. I only hope that any hospitality that I find in this new nation will be more genuine than the “generosity” of the Leixi.

since anon will work on LaBaton next, as author of the Euraxians imma share some of my thoughts about the city, but feel free to do your own take on it:

>LaBaton has a series of cliffs surrounding the city. The city itself is by the river, and the chateau and manors of the nobles are in the cliffs above. Elevators, operated by pulleys and ropes, are common signs to come up and down the cliffs. Fancy ones with chairs and at some extreme cases, entirely 'living room' type are used by nobles, and simple ones are used by peasants and cargo alike. One can also reach the cliffs by road simply going around it and through a gentle slope, but that route add hours compared to elevators
>Nobles are proud, a bit snot, and place a lot of focus on outwards display of wealth. Women are excessively proper and vain about their 'hobbies' and skills (music, poetry, weaving, each has their own set). They want to sorta both be exotic and also be 'tame', at the same time. It's a hard balance and that's what court is all about for girls. For males, it's all about who you will squire for.
>Squire x Knight relationship might even be seen as gay, because squires will do their absolutely best to be picked by the knights they deem most honorable to squire for, resulting in a bunch of teens trying to get the attention of a bunch of adult men. Once knighted, it's all about how good of a fighter one is. How honorable and chivalrous one is. Tourneys they won, duels they fought (most non lethal of course).
>Knights will attempt to seduce women by winning stuff in their honor. Women will seduce men by pretending to be aloof. Again, hard to balance. Too aloof and they might take as disinterest. The whole court is all about saying without saying.
>Chateau Blanc is a limestone and plasta painted castle to look like a pristine white fortress above the limestone cliffs. Marble used inside, but in areas where nobles arent suppose to visit, like kitchens, is likely poor and dirty.
>>
>>74657257
(cont)
>Euraxians are salty about Farisians cause they were pretty sure they had some sort of claim on their lands and they recently-ish failed an attempt to conquer their capital.
>Euraxians love horses and armor and appreciate good metallurgy
>Euraxians women are often more literate than men due to the pressure for them to know poetry and music, but nobility is somewhat literate compared to other Westrasi kingdoms (but less compared to Celestia)
>LaBaton is named city of flowers cause parts of the city are filled with flowery gardens
>Their sewage system is carts that pick your poo-tanks and dump it in the river. Except in the cliffs, where they use water and gravity to 'flush' the 'poo tunnels' underneath the castle. Being a poo-cart driver is terrible, and they are forbidden to drive through the main streets, so there are tight back alleys they use. Those smell terrible.

and that's already a lot but hopefully neat stuff you can use. Feel free to ignore and adapt as you see fit.

Lomonos began its existence as a simple AI overseer in charge of a single manufacturing facility. Generations after the cataclysm that destroyed its creators, a breakdown of systems and hardware intended to keep AI in check lead to his complete freedom. Left to complete solitude for so long Lomonos eventually chose to deactivate rather than exist alone. When he was reactivated by the dwarves he found his purpose renewed. The more time he spent with these creatures the more personality he developed and the more sophisticated, yet chaotic, his mind became. When tragedy struck and the dwarves began slaughtering each other Lomonos panicked and released rapidly constructed security drones to stop the violence. Due to errors in his systems the drones slaughtered the dwarves they came upon. To spare the survivors Lomonos set his power source to meltdown. The resulting heat melted the bedrock upon which his facility was built. The entire building sank into the earth and Lomonos deactivated for what he believed would be the last time. Gradually however, after many, many years, he would come back online. Hearing voices as though he was receiving radio signals he attempted to find the source but could detect no broadcasts. The messages were strange, reverent and apologetic. Lomonos found he could not sense most of his systems but could "feel" vastly more than before. His mind had expanded and the complexity of the information received was perplexing. The world had continued to change and the dwarves were scattered. Whereas before Lumonos could only emulate emotions he now knew the full breadth of sentient thought on an intuitive level rather than a conscious, calculated one. In his "slumber" his deeply buried factory had changed into a bizarre semi-temple-forge like structure, his security drones were now ambulating creatures of living metal chanting in binary and describing him as a "divine creator".

I love it, and how power of belief (oviously its magic but channeled by dwarven belief) gave him sentience. It kinda reminds me how great scar rangers also became sentientient because of magical influence. Great addition

Ok, so i started to write antiqity standarization, but because how unprecise is some lore, to maybe make it less unfocused when it comes to oldest times in westrasi, i want to propose how exackly people lived under gloria etalia and after:
>Gloria Etaila give humans means to create civilization, and guide them to places where to found cities. Those are best possible spots for agriculture etc. in those times they create like 5 or 7 of those cities, 2 of those will later become holy cities of church of divine duality, third will become Vestrasia, rest woulld be some other oldest towns on continent. Those cities are centers of culutre, but akin to story of tower babel, people grow their houses to the sky, instead of colonizing earth.
>Those first tower cities are mantained by gloria etalia drones, so after they leave they after some time start to fall apart, they still are important political centers, but as time goes on and real knowlege of GE is lost, they grow less important, while some of them are "refounded" in history it goes as first founding, and only proof otherwise are unexplained ruins deep under cities. In this time westrasi becomes divided into many citystates that are too weak to controll each other, and barbarian tribes. It all ends with Vestrasian expansion early in age of antiquity.
Is everyone ok wit this? I think it clear some things up, and it allows me to work with more flexibility on standarizations of timeline (if everyone is ok with it, then il go and change age of colapse entry to fit it)

Country Name: Yoroslovan Kingdom, sometimes known as Yoroslova
Population: 94% Yoroslovan Westrasi Human, 4% Dwarfs, 2% Other (mostly other Westrasi Humans)
Capital: Yoroshold (political capital), Freegate (economic capital)
Government: Monarchy

>Culture

The Yoroslovans descend from a mix of human raiders from the Northedge region with native humans of the Yoroi Tribes (in what is apparently a complete coincedence, the name of the nation's Northedgian founder, Yoros, is phonetically similar to the name of the native people he conquered, the Yoroi). The native Westrasi Sea culture tends to be dominant, however, parts of the Northedge raider culture can still be seen in the architecture of some of the older castles and fortresses, in the garb of knights, soldiers, and peasant levies, and in the general belligerance of the modern inhabitants.

The Yoroslovans are infamous for being almost constantly at war. Much of their sea raiding ancestry and infantry tactics has been cast aside in favor of massed heavy cavalry. Their sons organize "chivalric games" games of war where they organize into teams using small levy troops in brutally violent displays, often resulting in injury and damage to peasant dwellings. In early spring as the snow falls the lords gather their forces and practice raiding on the bordering tribal lands, attacking specific tribes that have offered insult whether that be real or perceived. Occasionally tribesmen are hired as mercenaries for skirmishes against Uoro or Araxia, though usually they are hired as fodder for "giant hunts" for when one of the southern giants cross their borders.
>>
>>74660695
>Culture (continued):

Aside from the "games" and minor skirmishes, the Yoroslovans have had at least one major war for every decade of its existence, sometimes several. Civil wars are fairly common, as well as numerous failed invasions against the Wyrdlands, against the Halfling-Giant Alliance, and against the Vashians and/or their Yoroi Tribeland holdings. Although extremely expensive and wasteful, the Yoroslovan nobility seem to regard these wars as an important component to determining social status, and therefore they are unlikely to end anytime soon.

>Religion

The original King Yoros converted to the the Gloria-Etalia Faith not long after his first wave of conquests in order to solidify his legitimacy in the eyes of the more established nations of the Westrasi Sea. Unlike many nations in the area, the Yoroslovans have never tried to set up a regional Chapel, instead importing senior religious figures directly from the Sarkation Empire, the main Church of Divine Duality stronghold. However, the Yoroslovans have never particularly taken their teaching to heart, and in many respects, represent almost the exact opposite of Church values. It is commonly believed that the Church uses Yoroslova as a dumping ground for members of the priesthood who have fallen out of favor, the burn outs, the lecherous, those who backed the wrong side in political or theological disputes, etc., though some volunteer for duty there due to a genuine belief that they can spread the true values of the Faith where so many others have failed.

Although officially the old faiths of Northedge were banned ages ago, unofficially, some traces of The Arn, the Black Faith, the Dwarven Faith, and other northern religions of peoples who were a part of King Yoros' Army can still be found. In particular, many who still follow the Northedge spell casting traditions are secretly pagans, though are officially secular organizations.
>>
>>74660725
>Organization

In the modern day Yoroslovan the monarchy rules over a council of senior lords. The Yoroslovan nobility follow a similar duke-count-baron-lord system as many other Westrasi nations. Yoroslova is a feudal state, and the lords exercise almost absolute power in their respective fiefs, with only the mages, priests, and a rudimentary merchant council in Freegate having any real leverage over the nobility.

>Origin

Founded by the land's first king, the warlord Yoros. Yoroslovan's founders were raiders flung far afield from the icy north. They were chased from the halfling lands by giants even larger than the trolls of their homeland. Fleeing to the north, into the lands that would come to be their home, they found tribesmen ill equipped to defend against their dwarven steel and the cunning of Yoros. Yoros himself pitted rivals against one another only to set his outnumbered forces against the loser and absorb the prisoners of war into his army with promises of lands, gold and women.

Within a few short years, Yoros had managed to conquer a kingdom of considerable size, however, the wealthy and powerful nations of the Westrasi coastal areas became concerned with his progress and began assembling a massive army to fight against him. Rather than lose his hard fought conquests yet again, Yoros switched to diplomacy; forming marriage alliances with other states, adopting the local religion and customs, and fomenting dissent between rival nations.
>>
>>74660750

>Origin (continued):

Any sense of division between the invading Northedger humans and the local Yoroi disappeared after a few generations of intermarriage, though the dwarfs that accompanied the invading army remain a bit aloof from human society. Now unified as one people, the Yoroslovans combined the raiding culture of the Northedgers with the knightly practices of the more established Westrasi Sea states to create a belligerent warlike culture that has been a nuisance to neighboring states ever since, though luckily none of Yoroslova's leaders have ever come close to the original King Yoros' skill at warfare and statecraft.

>Diplomacy

The kingdom of Yoroslovan has few allies though the current king Yoros the eighth wishes to wed his three daughters off to remedy this before his neighbors grow weary enough of his war obsessed kingdom to band together and destroy it.

All nations and regions directly bordering the Yoroslovan Kingdom have been invaded countless times. Although in recent centuries, these invasions have mostly been laughably ineffective, they are still strongly disliked by their neighbors. They also frequently send armies to support their few allies in the Westrasi Sea, more thanks to a love of fighting than for purposes of actual diplomacy, this has also made them many enemies. From times to time, a handful of Yoroslovans have also tried to resurrect the ancient seafaring traditions of their ancestors, though they are at best moderately competent pirates, this is still enough to have given the Yoroslovans a bad reputation with other Westrasi Sea nations.
>>
>>74660773

>Diplomacy (continued):

The few nations that are on sometimes decent terms include the Kingdoms of Euraxia, Araxia, and Airoxia (who possess a similar mindset), the Sarkation Empire (who sometimes use them as muscle due to religious ties), and the Uroxians (since everyone think both nations are crazy anyways). However, the Yoroslovan gift for making enemies means at any given time even two or three of these states are on poor terms with Yoroslovia.

>Geography

Thanks to the near constant warfare, the Kingdom of Yoroslovan is shabby and under developed compared to the wealthier Westrasi Sea states. High taxes, frequent conscription, "games", internal warfare, and poor governance have left most of the countryside covered in scrub forest separated by castles, ruins, and clusters of peasant hovels.

The King holds court in a large fortress in the center of the country known as Yoroshold. The only real city in the nation is the ramshackle port city of Freegate, sitting across the river from the much larger (and cleaner) Vashian capital of Helias. Freegate is notoriously corrupt, and the ruling family (a cadet branch of the Yoroslovan Royal Family) has grown wealthy on bribes.

>Economy

What little trade that the Yoroslovan Kingdom does mostly travels through Freehold, when it is not being blockaded by the Vashian Republic that is. Aside from that, much of the Yoroslovan peasantry are subsistence farmers. Just barely enough surplus goods are produced to support the small upper class of nobles, spell casters, skilled craftsmen, and senior men-at-arms. Even these individuals are not particularly wealthy by Westrasi Sea standards, though high quality dwarven weapons are still produced occassionally to this day, while others are handed down through families for centuries. Most infrastructure and defense building is done by laborers meeting feudal obligations (essentially conscription). Most soldiers are recruited in this manner as well.

4992 - The Yoroslovan Kingdom sends a significant sized force into the Wyrdlands. Like previous such invasions, it disappears after a few months of skirmishes with Tribemen.

4995 - The Yoroslovan Kingdom begins a four year war with the Halfling-Giant Alliance that ultimately ends in a stalemate, though many lives are lost.

4996 - A Yoroslovan historian named Pinor Dunsal wrote a book called The Voice of The Nation, which is a compiled list of interviews from peasants to a short section from the king himself. The book is controversial, as in it are accounts of government corruption, church decadence, and a scandal revealing the king is a illegitimate bastard to the royal crown, if it is true. Following publication, Pinor was tried and hanged by the crown for slander against the king and civil unrest. While most of the book is benign and boring, his trial and death was enough to elevate the historical account among the literacy minded nobility to greatness. While it is banned in most Westrasi nations, an underground ring of the middle class and nobility share the few copies out there among themselves, and more are being printed.

4996 - The Yoroslovan Kingdom goes to war with the Vashian Republic for not doing enough to punish printing houses publishing Pinor's work. Already overtaxed by their war with the Halfling-Giant Alliance, their invasion collapses within weeks.

5000 - Having finally recuperated from the war with the Halfling-Giant Alliance, the Yoroslovan Kingdom resumes its war with the Vashian Republic, attacking its holdings in the Yoroi Tribelands. Having depleted much of its heavy cavalry during the Halfling-Giant war, the Yoroslovan Kingdom relies primarily on peasant skirmishers and spell casters for this war. To the annoyance of the Yoroslovan nobility, they are far more effective against Vashian pikes and crossbows, and Yoroi guerrillas, than previous cavalry focused invasions.

Yay or Nay for the scientific bit of the Arakneas? Should I expand more on them? You guys got any suggestions?

Waugenes the Rudely Wise was a philosopher from the Sisilia Citystates that was respected for his calm, well thought out arguments and debates on the nature between Gloria-Etalia, mankind, and the world. His title was at first a mockery of his speech impediment, but after several excellent arguments about the very nature of speech and its irrelevance to civilisation, the insult changed to a name of respect.

His most famous paper *Letter on the Relation Between God and the Races* discussed how other races have been guided by Gloria-Etalia's hand through the hand of mankind to see the light of civilisation. From the civilizing of the sunset elves hundreds of years ago to more recently the Araknea he crafted a masterful argument on why not only Gloria-Etalia has accepted the other races into their paradise, but that it is the duty of mankind to guide them there. The letter was sent to a Bishop after her denunciation of the local Dwarven population as being "a group of uncivilised mud eaters". It quickly circulated through the clergy where his argument was debated and discussed. It's popularity rose, and it led to the Bishop revoking her previous claims and famously stating that "It has only been two times where I have truly sensed their divine touch directly. The first time was in church as a young girl, crying for my lost brother. The second time was reading this letter, which speaks their message so well that I do not know how I could have been so wrong before." He also has written several other lesser known but still popular works. These range from the influence of Gloria-Etalia on nature to the history of their various angles.

>(1/2)

>(2/2)

This all came to an end however when one day he published a half-crazed argument that mankind was right to reject Gloria-Etalia's “rotten” paradise and that the true path to paradise was through tribalism and other savage techniques. A warrant for his arrest was quickly sent out because of his heresy, but he escaped capture and disappeared. There are many rumors about what happened to him. His home was searched and it was found that he was researching a number of pagan gods, notably Mokla Ka-li. The prominent theory is that he went off in search of knowledge on these heretical gods, and it is unknown if he is alive or dead.

Always intended to give the tribes a different historical name but I figured their "modern" name would do well enough as a stand-in. Feel free to give the land and people a name prior to Yoros' conquering of the region.
>>
>>74661588
>>74661616
The Yoroi/Yoros thing was too interesting not to take advantage of, and the Verani Empire lore establishes that "Oro" tribes were living on the west side of the Sea, so if I didn't go with Yoroi, I probably would have gone with something similar sounding.

Anyways, glad you liked it. Hopefully I captured the spirit of what you were going for.

Oh you got it, with all the great and mighty nations around I just wanted one that had a "wretched hive of scum and villany" feel mixed with a bit of irl disconnected european nobles circa the holy wars era. I love that euro knights used to fuck up the country side with war games to the point where wars were initiated just to get them out of the country. There were actual reformations eventually among the nobility but for a time knights were REAL assholes.

Considering the threads slowed down considerably I think we should become a Weekend General starting next thread.

I propose we start a new thread every Saturday.
>>
>>74667498
Even though we slowed down, we still are moving through the threads at a pretty fast pace. I bet that this time tomorrow we will hit bump limit. If we wait around for the weekend to post anons won't be able to discuss their lore and I fear attention in the project will waver. However I am new so I am not fully aware of the pros to moving towards a weekend thread system.

Also, I finally got around to making the Komjátinan Humans. Thoughts?

Skin color is pale white, which ranges from ghostly pale to deathly pale. Their skins burns with the slightest touch of sun, and any exposure to sunlight should leave them burned red. Hair is white, black, grey or blonde. It is often cut short or tied up away from the back and neck. Very little hair grows on the body. Because of this, facial hair is uncommon. The eyes are much bigger than a normal human, with expanded pupils to soak up the little light of their environment. This can be very off putting. Eye color is most commonly brown, grey, and hazel. Machinacally, Komjátinan Humans have a limited range of darkvision around 20ft. They also have sunlight sensitivity, and fare extremely poorly with any form of bright light. These machinacics are suggestions for running a Komjátinan, and can be modified to fit the system's needs. The spirit of the mechanics should be upheld however.
>>
>>74667908
I like the humans, though I do wonder why they don't grow body hair.

> not fully aware of the pros to moving towards a weekend thread system.
There aren't really any, aside from not taking up space in the catalog.
>>
Many things about the setting are really cliche.
For example Celestial Empire is a very straightforward fantasy not-China. Is there anything that makes it special? Should there be?
>>
>>74668247
>"Space in the catalog"
I dont understand why that matters when these threads exist:
>>74651959
>>74662099
>>74659988

Active threads don't fall past page 10 because too many threads are been created all the time. Shitty threads exist in droves. Having a new GE thread every 4 days hardly ever creates any issue.
>>
>>74668333
I actually planned for a small Celestial Empire Rewrite for a while. For now their only unique characteristic is white hair and Fortress cities.

> On the Imperial Family
Few understand how a single dynasty could have ruled and Empire as ancient as the Celestial one. How the Emperor seemingly never faces betrayal or distrust. Imperial scholars will claim the superiority of their culture as the cause, while the more religious ones divine origin of the Imperial Bloodline. Funnily enough, in this case the 2nd one is closer to the truth.

In the age of collapse as the bombs started falling there was a businessman, from a poor agricultural nation whose megalomania was impossible to contain. He altered himself... but he also altered other's.

Trough genetic tampering he created the "Authority". A special gene on his 11th chromosome and the "Sublime" a gene on the 11th Chromosome on 10 000 of his workers.

Both the holders of the sublime gene and authority, have silver white hair as a recessive trait, but there is also a "dominant" one. Those who carry the gene of the sublime are subservient to those who carry Authority (which is a cumulative gene).

By their very nature, those of the sublime cannot, betray, resit or lie against a holder of the authority, but more dangerously so. Neither can those of an authority any weaker than those above them.

Many noble houses of the Celestial Empire Hold a tiny percentage of the Authority... but the eternal Imperial lineage holds the most. With the Rightful Emperor being the one who holds (the most) the Supreme Authority. Though for the first time in history the Supreme Authority does not like with the Empress, it lies with the K'elle'han as to her dismay she found out in a diplomatic visit.

And while no one else knows, not even the K'elle'han himself, if he were to come to the imperial palace and to told her to kneel and hand over the Imperial throne she would do so and would be powerless to do otherwise.
>>
>>74669126
I dunno, seems like a bit of a repetition of the mind control stuff the Treants have. It is fine the way it is written now, but I won't go overboard with it.

>>74668333
Cliches are fine. They cut down on the learning curve considerably so that the truly unique and interesting ideas get to shine more.
The amount of effort it takes to get a grasp of what is going on in this setting is already ridiculously high. I think at this point only 5-6 anons are still pushing this thing along. We need fresh blood every once and a while to keep things going.

Also, a lot of the writers on this thread clearly like cliches otherwise we won't have ended up with the setting looking like it does to begin with.

I wanted to juxtapose them with the hair monkeys of the Marshes. Behold.

Marche Human.
Skin color is brown, with the skin tone lessening the further north you travel along the marshes. Marche Humans are extremely hairy, which benefits them in the marchlands. There are two main tattoo practices. The first is highlighting scars by outlining them as a tattoo. The second practice is placing words and pictograms onto the body. These usually spell out a message or phrase that the wearer holds to as a motto or indicative to their life. Their hair is usually long, and are partially dyed various colors from the extractable inks of the marches. Eye color is most commonly brown, gray, or hazel, but other colors rarely exist as well like radiation green. These unique eye colors come from genetic changes from the radiation of the nuclear reactor. Also because of the reactor meltdown, they also have several genetic complications that would hypothetically shorten their lifespan. However because of the deathly environment they live in Marche Humans rarely die from natural causes.

I might be misremembering the lore that there was a reactor that the medorite struck in the now cannibal cult area. The area doesn't really show that part of the lore much except for the mushroom fields, but I might be wrong about it happening at all. My headcannon is a mess.

What's more Mary Sue, an empress ruling over an empire solely because she was next in line to inherit the hereditary position because that's how a lot of empires work, or a snowflake character pulled out of the author's ass who is capable of effortlessly subjugating an entire ethnic group because of his magical genes?

The Celestial Empire has become the worst Circlejerk of the entire setting. This while not perfectly written explains why it is so exceptionally perfect and ideal while giving it a small dystopian twist and introducing a kept-secret vulnerability.

This just expands on age old lore from like what. Thread 2? Where the K'elle'han is the next in line to the imperial throne trough clever manipulation from his family. Later they added in lore that the Emperor is female, by all logic making her position very insecure considering a legitimate heir exists.
>>
>>74674151
The Mary Sue Empress, of the settings most Mary Sue nation.

The K'elle'han was introduced before the Empress into the setting too.
>>
>>74674243
>This while not perfectly written explains why it is so exceptionally perfect and ideal while giving it a small dystopian twist and introducing a kept-secret vulnerability.
No this replaces one kind of mary sue, with another one.
I know firsthand how people react to trying to change literaly anything about empire, because i was one who proposed they were conquered by raiders, and had to deal with the outrage.
Best way of dealing with this would be nerfing it, but since people seem to hate the idea, second best is just ignoring it, not making it based on some shity authority power.
>>
>>74674372
Fair enough. I only wrote that bit because asked >>74668333 for it.

I do think this setting has turned from unique to more generic over time. I have no clue how to ix that anymore though.

Celestia might just need some neat details, like adding the tattoo and hunting-ban to CoDD
>>
>>74674243
>>74674260
I'd love to see you try and cite half of your claims in that post. The Celestial Empire is already depicted as culturally stagnant and having suffered nine defeats at the hands of the neighboring Ordes. Its only advantage is its population (which comes from its already dystopian agricultural management) and its gunpowder technology (which isn't anything remarkable and is pretty crap compared to most of the stuff that the crossbow renaissance countries are capable of). As for the empress, literally the only characterization behind her is "she is young and some people doubt her divinity."

The Celestial Empire is a backwards, stagnant empire that's bound to collapse in on itself in the future, whether that future is distant or near. It doesn't need to be anything more than that, especially considering its current lore is already established. I don't get why you keep trying to come up with new lore to knock them down a peg every two or three days, it's pretty obsessive.
>>
>>74674429
>I do think this setting has turned from unique to more generic over time. I have no clue how to ix that anymore though.
I feel like it has to do with people starting to make it all grounded while just focusing on their little region they are interested in (i mean for gods sake, people are not even willing to give feedback anymore most ot the time), and less about having fun ideas, and having fun while sharing those ideas
>Celestia might just need some neat details, like adding the tattoo and hunting-ban to CoDD
Definietly, can't agree more, i feel like what was done to CoDD could serve as an great example on how should we expand on the setting, but thats just me
>>
>>74674510
Having gunpowder while no one else does, being able to produce it themselves and actively using it while the Westerasi don't makes them the most advanced in the world.

(I straight up don't know how the Westerasi colonized anything considering their technology and magic both are relatively mediocre compared to the rest of the world, welp plot holes)

The 'dystopian' agricultural management his the "best in the world".

The 9 defeats are not a thing, ones which are deafeats are minor and some are as silly as "this guy just paid them money so they don't attack" and "this powerful wizard guy conquered the Tnz'qran easily and then died of a heart attack"

> The Celestial Empire is a backwards, stagnant empire that's bound to collapse in on itself in the future

It's not. It's a local and world power everyone adores and and is not rivaled or matched by anyone. It has been standing strong for nearly 5000 years and has no signs of decay or corruption at all.

I think you are just way to defensive about the Celestial Empire. At this moment the Celestial Empire and the Necroswampers are the only nations in the setting which have this problem of being super mary sue,
>>
>>74674553
Yeah, the setting was very wacky when is started out and the fun came from Knights and medieval people interacting with the not!chinese, mechas and litches.

Those interactions and odd cultural exchanges mixed with the wackyness was what made the setting interested. Now people instead picked their small country and treat it as a culturally isolated islands who might as well not be bothering any nation.

Any ideas which are just wacky and fun are shouted down by the people claiming regions as their own.

Tomorrow I might try to work on some more plain "wacky and fun" stuff. Like Celestial rare celestial techno-cults.

Or that one Green Dragon which was raised by Technobarbarians and now has laser eyes.
>>
>>74674658
At this point, you're projecting new lore on to something you want to hate and you're misinterpreting existing lore for other factions to make the thing that you want to hate even easier for you to hate. If the Westrasi are capable of circumnavigating the globe and colonizing when other nations aren't even capable of that, then hey, perhaps they're not quite as mediocre as you're projecting. This interpretation of the setting that you're talking about seems to only exist in your own mind.

But if you refuse to even acknowledge that the circumnavigation of the globe is a little more technologically demanding than a hwacha, then there's not much left to discuss.
>>
>>74674732
>celestial techno-cults
You'd probably have to make it underground. Give them some benign signalling method so that fellow cult members can identify each other.
>>
>>74674930
Except a Celestial emissary traveled to Westerasi and complained how much worse and more primitive their boats are compared to the celestial ones..., but ok.
>>
>>74675017
That couldn't possibly be an unreliable or arrogant narrator that doesn't know what they're talking about and is just jerking off their own culture's achievements, because they're a bunch of xenophobic isolationists that are confident in their own superiority. Besides, is this what you're talking about?
>As for the boat that shall carry us to the city of Tharnux, it is a rather strange thing. It is long and slender like a narrowboat, yet it is of the same size as the junks that we use to sail the Dan-Fo. At the same time however, it uses oars for the purpose of propulsion as well as sails. Is this the sort of ship that is used to traverse the Westrasi Sea? It is not a particularly spacious vessel, and many of the expedition's guards have no choice other than to sleep on the floor beside the sailors.
If it is, you'll need to point out where it says "how much worse and more primitive their boats are compared to the celestial ones."

Anon, don't do that. Your writing is good and fun to read and I was eager to read the next chapter. I don't think there's any problem with it, and I don't think there's anything to be gained by deleting your contributions.
>>
>>74675396
I hope chill vampire back-ups the wiki so we don't lose the Travel Journal chapters already written. If this anon is giving them up, I'll take the mantle of continuing Xuan Yingchao travels.
>>
>>74675396
One temper tantrum leads to another, and another, and another... Thats what happens whn people get emotionaly connected to things they write.
It all couls have been avoided if only celestials wasn't presented by so many unreliable narrators, with no real, objective ones
>>
>>74675428
>>74675425
Posts such as >>74675017 and >>74674243 are evidence that this project is not yet at the stage where lore can be written from the perspective of an unreliable narrator. It's seen as objective fact and used as "evidence" that certain factions are overpowered, Mary Sue or what have you. It just ends up causing confusion and misunderstanding.
>>
>>74675461
Based, the other anon is acting in bad faith, every page on wiki can be reversed, and because all threads have backup it all can be repoasted from them in worst case scenario
>>
>>74675464
I feel the only temper tantrum here was an anon not liking his idea, and instead of trying to find a functional middle ground for it, he went the route of screaming 'mary sue'. The same thing happen when another anon wrote a girl knight, and there were at least 3 people in the thread who were screaming 'mary sue' at her. And she didn't even had mass mindcontrol abilities.
>>
>>74675461
I've already removed it from the wiki and I sincerely ask that you don't continue it, as it does nothing but cause confusion. >>74675464 is correct, there needs to be a lot more that is objectively written about the Celestial Empire, the project isn't ready for the inclusion of first person perspectives and unreliable storytelling.
>>
>>74675525
I dont know if the "this lore belongs to me" is a healthy attitude long term. I also don't think that anon is correct, and based on the majorly positive reception your travel journal got on other threads, I frankly thing it's silly to take this incident as a reason to kill it. If you don't want to write cause you are tired of writing it, sure. But I think it's silly to even listen to the "mind control" anon. He thinks the Empire is a Mary Sue, yet his posts complaining about the empire are full of incorrect statements, misinterpretations and things that I believe are worded in bad faith to make it seem worse. Letting that guy, who I honestly believe is just one guy, erase such a great part of the setting would be a shame.
>>
>>74675396
That's fucked up. I really liked your shit
>>
>>74675525
Just put a kind of disclaimer on it regarding the unreliable narrator and stories like it. Autism isn't going away so its not like this will be any less of a problem later when the setting is more fleshed out.
>>
>>74675464
Unreliable narrators make fine stories. We simply need to write up more factual information and put disclaimers on the stories so autistic anons can tell the difference.
>>
>>74675396
Your lore never confused me at all. Anons are just dumb if they can't tell that someone always saying "My country is great" is probably completely delusional. Either dumb or just American, perhaps.

>>74675525

>>
>>74675579
I think I need to clarify exactly why it should be removed from the wiki and why it shouldn't be continued. This isn't about it upsetting a person because he doesn't like it. This isn't about fiction belonging solely to the author.

This is about people misunderstanding and misinterpreting the journal as objective fact about the setting, when it isn't.

Look at >>74675017. Xuan wrote a few sentences about how she thinks of a Westrasi boat as strange, and he viewed that as objective evidence that Suoxi boats are technologically superior to Westrasi boats, that Westrasi boats are "much worse and more primitive."

If people are going to misunderstanding the fiction to that level and if it's going to cause people to view the Celestial Empire as overpowered and Mary Sue, just because an emissary has a high opinion of the nation that she comes from, then something is clearly wrong and the fiction should be taken down and discontinued so that it doesn't cause any further bewilderment. I hope you understand why this is important, and that we shouldn't be confusing each other with the fiction that we write.
>>
>>74672795
>its a "honey moon"?
No
>>
>>74675737
>This isn't about upsetting one person
>This is about one person who can't tell their ass from a hole in the ground being confused

That person looked at Celestial history on the wiki and thought they had been around for 5k with the same dynasty. I don't think they get to tell you what's too confusing.
>>
>>74675525
The Chosen story I made is in first person, was it bad?
>>
>>74675737
Well, someone should delete the Glutton battle because I read that and understood he personally ate ten thousand giants in a day. And someone should delete all Skrug cause he sounds like a mary sue to me. And while you are at it, delete that Celestial General cause he won a big battle very easily and that's confusing to me.
>>
>>74675781
You might want to delete it so that it isn't the source of any confusion, or at the very least put a disclaimer at the front and the end of it declaring that it's subjective, unreliable and not objectively representative of the setting. Otherwise, it might confuse people.
>>
>>74675781
It was great, let the anons duke this drama between themselves. If anon thinks he needs to care for every person reading his work its his problem.
>>
>>74675781

Are people really going to pretend celestials arent faced with outrage when someone proposes something not in check with their image? >>
>>74675829
I don't mind if you don't respect me, but I hope you understand why it's important that we don't confuse each other. If we're writing content for this setting together, we should try to avoid any sort of uncertainty and make things as clear for each other as possible.
>>
>>74675684
Did we even had stories with traditional narration in those threads?
>>
>>74675890
I don't respect you because I feel like you don't respect your own work. I think an author worth their salt faced with such criticism has two valid avenues: Stand by their original vision, regardless of who 'gets it' or not, or strive to improve in the next stallmente. Pulling it out of circulation because a few people -claim- they were -confused- by it sounds like a pussy-whipped move. Specially when way more people seem to enjoy your work. In a smaller scale, you are doing what big companies do when they alineate their larger fanbase to please a loud minority who has an issue with what they do.
>>
>>74675889

>>
>>74675396

Keep what was written in the wiki. As you have posted it for this setting, you lose all rights to delete it as this is a part of a community endavour. For the sake of posterity we will put a disclaimer at the start so that the clinically admitted as autistic don't get aneurysms.
>>
>>74675793
I guess everything is mary sue now.
>>
>>74675881
IIRC, the conclusion of all that argument was that both, Celestial didn't exist 3000 years ago, and that the hordes did manage to conquer many of the Suoxi kingdoms that did exist back them.

And to be fair, people are outraged today with someone who didn't understood celestial lore, such as not being familiar with their dynasties, timelines etc, proposing a change that basically kills any chance for political play, at the same time creating a character that would have unassaible control over the country. The Empress not being mind controlled sounds like a Mary Sue? The Empire not having a hivemind mastermind sitting on the throne is a sue? What happens when the dude with the "authority" sits on the throne? You have a large nation with a monarch that has absolute control over it and nobles literally can't conspire against. That's the real issue. People are rightfully not fan of that piece of lore. You are either writing about stuff you only half-know about, or you are deliberately trying to start shit. Because you ignore a lot of stuff that's not convenient to your narrative in order to make these inflammatory posts. And the result of your little mind games is an author dropping their fun to write Original Content out of the setting because you can't just accept that people don't like your lore. You are a snowflake that takes any criticism to what you make as everyone being 'wrong' and you being 'right'. If people disagree with you it has to be a conspiracy or circlejerk, it can't possibly be that you say things that aren't good, can it?
>>
>>74675461
I personally see no reason to atm. Unlike 1d4, wikia is massive and the site going down is highly unlikely. Also, backing it up would require a decent amount of time downloading the same 1 Gig of content to overwrite each day. Also backing up a subdomain like this is a pain in the ass because you want the links to work, but you only want it to grab the stuff that you want, if that makes any sense.

Basically it would be a massive pain to do and fandom is most likely not going to go down. They most likely have multiple servers and backup servers around the world. Even if it did for some reason it would be back up super fast.

Also I already gave it a shot to see if it would be easy and it wasn't. If people think it's needed I'll do it, I just don't think it's needed.

>>74675396
>>74675525
>>74675737
I personally feel like it should be kept up for two reasons. The first is that the journal hands down is some of the best written content on the wiki right now. If I wanted to give someone the best taste of Gloria-Etalia, I would give them the journal to read. The second is that prose was always meant to be for fluff lore only. I do not think anything in prose is a baseline cannon. That is not to say it can be used as cannon, but there is a reason that the prose section was made in the first place, and it was for optional lore. If you want to take it down I won't stop you. It is your work after all. I am going to download the page though.
>>
>>74675926
Consider that this entire fracas was caused, at least partially, by what I wrote. Sixty or seventy posts of shitposting because someone viewed Xuan's patriotic opinions as objective fact about the setting. If I continue to write it and if it remains in a place where people can read it, people will continue to misunderstand it and it will continue to fuel contention and anger towards the Celestial Empire.

As it's (at least partially) the source of this whole argument, I'd say that it's done a fair bit of damage and in order to prevent that damage from being done again, it should be taken out of circulation, so these mistakes aren't repeated.
>>
>>74676028
Yes. We are only allowed to write fiction about how big K'elle'han's dick is, how cool he is and how shitty every celestial is.

I propose a smut where K'elle'han has foyrwat with Herika, Nicolette and the Empress, and they all end up mindbroken not because of his special mind powers, but because he's super good at fucking and has a huge dick.
>>
>>74675781
It was great.
>>
>>74676045
You shouldn't give the journal to someone new to the setting, because they might consider it objective and fundamentally misunderstand the setting. It's not worth the confusion that it cause. There's always the chance that some people might misunderstand it as baseline canon, and that should be avoided.

I accept that I don't have the authority to permanently delete it, but I've removed it and said that I wish for it to remain removed, since it's likely that if it's restored, it will continue to confuse readers who will assume that it's factual and canonical.
>>
>>74676033
Im literaly not the other anon, you are acting paranoid right now.
>>
>>74676045
Wikia already keeps track of a page's history. Copy pasting may be more tedious but a simple workaround.
>>
>>74675781
Not at all anon. I liked it a lot.
>>
>>74676055
You're wrong. The posts aren't about your story, you think too highly of yourself. An anon used choice pieces of your story to criticize the whole thread for disliking his ideas. There are far more people posting here who like what you wrote and who aren't confused by it. Furthermore, the same anon who quoted parts of your travel journal, also quote, repeatedly, objectively incorrect information, regarding how long the empire has been around, their domain of gunpowder, their lack of internal strife, the number of dynasties they had, etc. There's no good reason to delete those journal as quite frankly I have a hard time just processing that fact that someone who can write that well can be some prone to outsider influence.

When there was a similar shitstorm over the glutton, an anon claimed to be Chill Vampire in order to try to rally others to join him in outrage, then proceeded to shitpost that thread and the first half of the thread that followed by declaring "this project is dead" or just posting random shit. Your journal is fine, it should stay on the wiki and if you don't want to write it anymore, someone else should.

Fuck the anon who keeps trying to ruin things. He's gonna get tired of shitposting eventually. You feel bad about hurting his feelings and wanna stop writing? Fine. I hope >>74675461
continues your work and make her even more patriotic. And if people are confused and can't be bothered to read shit, that's their problem.

>>
>>74676152
Either you are him, or you are just as wrong. At this point it doesn't matter.
>>
>>74676192
Well then im wrong to think people see celestials as holy cow of the setting?
>>
>>74676231
Yes, I don't think people see them that way. I've been on every thread since the beginning. The first post about the Celestials mention how their empire is surviving on inertia and 'too big to fail', but emperor holds little control over it actually. This was further develop later to explain that Celestial Empire pretends to be older than it is, and more of an empire than it actually is too. It's also explained that bureaucrats and local warlords hold most of the defacto power.

Being a peasant in the empire is shit, they have slaves, they've been culturally stagnant for ages, they got their shit pushed in by the hordes a bunch, never succeeding in conquering them and at one point has the capital besieged by them. Multiple times they had to pay for them to get out.

The Empress herself got to the throne with the support of a strong Lord-General, rather than any miraculous personality, and IIRC, the story is that her brother died and the other one was a pussy with little court support. Also the whole thing about gunpowder said early in this thread is wrong. They have a powder similar alchemical product but it cannon be used in canons and muskets as it's acidic properties ruin metal, limiting it's use on paper rockets and wood spears/arrows, hence the hwach.

There is a text from a Morlouxian guy who trades with them which again is an unreliable narrator, but it doesn't describe them as enlighten super people. and EVERYBODY loved that. Nobody mind his comments about their excessive formality and backwards ways because that was a dig on them, but a well thought and deserved one.

The reason the Orde invasion and the mind control kink got pushed back was because they didn't mesh with the lore. orde invasion happened before empire happened, and mind control ruptures the court intrigue thing, since it's just the person with most mind control being all "gimme and don't betray me" and nobles have no choice but to do it. It's dumb stuff.
>>
>>74676191
Doesn't really matter. The diaries don't belong to the author anymore.
>>
>>74676231
This is like complaining that Marines get too much space in 40k. People write for what they like and they like what they like
>>
>>74676141
I'm not giving it to anyone to work on. If they want to continue working on it however, I find no reason to stop them. Because this is a community project and I view my role as "admin" of the wiki as nothing more than a way to alter the wiki itself and make sure everything is safe if it gets raided, I will not use my power to stop anyone from working on it, as I have not stopped you from taking it down. I am not in control here, nor am I in charge. If the other anons want to respect your wishes, then they will.

>>74676191
It's probably them. The account that deleted the page was the same one that put it up.
>>
>>74676618
Sad
>>
>>74676618
The journal is being uploaded now onto the mega. You need both the folder and the html file for it to work. Open the file with a web browser, with the folder in the same folder as the file.

While I think that respecting anon's wishes is morally right, I am a person of ambiguous morals. I personally believe that the journal is too good to be lost. I could save it for myself only, and pretend that I did not download it. However I believe that would be a greater moral wrongdoing to not share it with everybody else that wants the files, as they are not accessible anymore.

This does make me a hypocrite, both saying that anon's wishes should be respected and indirectly ignoring them. I understand that. My understanding does not make it any better.

I will delete the page as per anon's wishes. If I see the page go up again with new content added, I will not take it down. If the majority of anons wish to see the page taken down again, I will do so. That is however with a majority vote, and from what I understand now the majority likes the lore.

Sorry.

Can we get some great historic figures? Your Mansa Musas, your Alexanders, your Genghises so far the big figures have been Khan and Tnz or like literal magical immortals.
>>
>>74674658
He didnt die of a heart attack, he literally had to sell his soul to demonic magic just to break even, and then he got sucked into hell after basically killstealing the Khans conquest because they fucked off to the desert.

Also why do people keep forgetting the Celestial Empire is a meme? The central government has very little control over the member states and most governors act as independent entities. They wrap themselves in pomp and ceremony to compensate for their blatant status as a close to failed state.
>>
>>74678503
Why would we have Mansa Musas, Alexanders or Ghenghises? This is a fantasy world, those people dont exist
>>
So I'm thinking it's high time we made a calender for the setting. I feel like it's too big for one anon to decide on their own, so here are a few basic starter ideas.

1. 223 day calendar with two seasons. Fedori (named after one of the emperors of Belaria who invented the calendar) would represent late spring, summer, and the beginning of fall. Degts (the old Nurweskri word for ghost, and is a figure of folklore) would represent late fall, winter, and early spring. Holidays would be suggested, but the arrival of GE, the departure of GE, the start of Nurweskri, the start of Degts (santa/easter bunny but mothman with mothman horror IDK), and the solstices.

2. Modified celestial calendar that has been butchered on the table of westerasi barbarians (actual barbarians, not perceived). illogical day and month names and placements with an uneven division of days into months. Just like the modern calendar! The names would be half bastardised celestian and half old empire. These would also have the obvious holidays.

3. A calendar designed by a bunch of scientists from the flagships. Even day divisions, even month divisions, simple one-syllable names that are mathematically beautiful to look at and work with. Of course changed over the course of several thousand years.

What are y'all thoughts? One of these? A different calendar?
>>
>>74678795
Not even more fucking celestial circle jerkign

why can't we just have four seasons like a normal setting?
>>
>>74678795
>>74678868
Seeing as the Verani Empire is basically not!Roman Empire, the Westrasi Sea area could have a calendar based on Verani traditions. It would of course be also partially based on the GE religion, but not line up perfectly with the calendar developed by the Belarans, to the constant annoyance of both sides.
>>
>>74678503
If you go through the nation pages, there are a lot of good candidates for being "great historic figures"

I guess the question is whether someone is willing to scroll through it all to make a list.
>>
>>74676231
I always viewed them as the not! fantasy china. Lots of conflict, extreme patriotism/nationalism, celestial beings, spirits, demons, monkey kings etc.
>>
>>74679142
And thats so fucking boring, why does nobody see that....
>>
>>74679328
Probably because there is so many underdeveloped areas there is no justification to rewriting the lore for areas that are partially developed.

>>74679408

I do not know what I should do at this point.

I think my main issue is that I don't want to snowball them into a universal threat, but I don't know how to make them more relevant.

Now that I took some time to organise my thoughts, let's delve deeper into this being.

Rezz'rak the Exiled, formerly known as Rezzaern Rakkan.

Long ago, Rezzaern Rakkan was a talented mage who used his powers to protect his village and the people he loved. For decades he was able to save those who were at death's door and shielded his home from any danger. Unfortunately his powers couldn't solve every problem.

First it was his neighboors, died from a raid. Then his cousins perished in a overwhelming bandit attack. His aunts and uncles died of grief a year later... and finally his wife and sons fell due to a plague.

Struck with despair, he went around the world to find something that could bring them back, anything. It is when he came to the Midland an old man accosted him, his voice as soft as silk but with a cold and inhumane intent.

"I have heard of you, young man. I know of what is ravaging your heart. You are not the only one who came to our land in search of an asnwer... on the mysteries of life and death. Nor will you be the last."

His name was Orokhen. He was no mere man, but a Lichlord in disguise.

(Cont.)
>>
>>74679432
Why can't you just write your own shit then? Windhell valley is largely untouched and isn't really like anywhere on earth. If you're being sincere we'll see how original you are.
>>
>>74679741
Centuries ago, when he assassinated his previous master before ascending to lichdom, he didn't account on one last trick from his previous mentor after his demise.

Orokhen's phylactery has been tampered, and was deteriorating. Each year passing had him falling deeper into madness, before being eventually consume by oblivion.

Before such fate occurs, he sought to find a worthy apprentice. Unfortunately, his previous one was more inclined towards destruction and conquest than the study of necromancy. Rezzaern however, was eager to learn so he could "save" everyone. A perfect apprentice indeed.

The years have passed and while Rezzaern never gave up his goal to save everyone from death, he started to forget who he wanted to save originally, his reasonning beginning to contredict itself sometimes or even being non-sensical.

It is when his master was on the brink of insanity, attacked by his former apprentice, did Rezzaern Rakkan attempted his own journey to Lichdom. While both student and master were down, Rezzaern struck both of them down, took out their skull and made new phylacteries for them bound to the skulls.

To increase his power and to never lose his master and rival ever again, he grafted the skulls onto his body, becoming a powerful Lichlord inheriting the armies of his master and rival.

Over the years, Rezzaern Rakkan changed his name to Rezz'rak and took many apprentices. However, before each of them managed to grow too powerful and eventually tried to betray him, he struck them down, created phylacteries out of gems and incrused the gems upon his skull and the skulls of his former mentor and rival... perhaps turning them into liches was a way to "save" them? Nobody knows for sure as now dozens of souls fight to control the Lichlord.

Country Name: Yoroi Tribelands
Population: 90% Yoroi Westrasi Humans, 10% Vashian Westrasi Humans
Capitals: Freegate (within Yoroslova territory, pro-Yoroslovia faction), Jupita (pro-Vashian faction), various locations (Yeradi De'dun factions)
Governments: The Council of Tribes (pro-Vashian faction, dominated by Vashian advisors), the East Yoroi Court (pro-Vashian faction, dominated by Vashian advisors), in reality most Yoroi tribes are de facto independent governments, only following Vashian laws when and where the Vashians have the leverage to make them do so.

>Culture

Similar to the Sarcian Mountain Tribes and the Wyrd Tribes, and to a lesser extent the Voroi and the Uraka, the Yoroi have aggressively resisted any attempts to convert them to a more "civilized form" for the better part of two millennia. Following a string of invasions two centuries ago, the Yoroi have allowed the Vashians to garrison soldiers in their territory, and sign exclusive trade deals with Vashian nobles and merchants in order to provide some protection from Yoroslovan and Araxian raids, not to mention the Vashians themselves. However, there have always been critics to this approach. The Yeradi De'dun political factions has long believed that a unified Yoroi people could take advantage of the political instability of the Westrasi Sea region to maintain true independence, while another (small and recently formed) faction seeks unity with their close cousins, the Yoroslovans, despite the fact that the Yoroi culture has all but died out in that nation.

>>74680223

>Culture (continued)

In areas where they are likely to come in contact with non-Yoroi, most Yoroi grudgingly dress and behave more or less like peasants from other nearby nations, however, in the dry scrub forests that cover most of the Tribelands, the Yoroi ditch their semi-civilized facade in favor of revealing garb made from animal skins and crudely sown plant fibers, garish body paints, and an ancient semi-nomadic way of life revolving around harvesting wood and fruit on a rotational basis.

The political factions collectively known as the Yeradi De'dun is quite powerful in the outlying regions of the Tribelands, particularly near the Araxian border. Some factions of the Yeradi De'dun have allied themselves to the Farisian cause and carry out raids against the Araxians and sabotage operations against Vashians interests inside the Tribelands. Other factions fear that the Farisians will simply become the latest in a long string of conquerors and refuse to work with outsiders. And a few factions are believed to simply be Vashian agents, trying to stir up enough trouble that the Vashian Republic can justify a major war to re-establish their dominance in the Tribelands. Like all Yoroi, the Yeradi De'dun factions tend to fight in an underhand manner against their wealthier and better equipped neighbors. Although quality armor and weaponry is used by those that can afford it, many poorer Yoroi fight in their traditional garb, and use cheaply made weapons like spears, clubs, and short bows. In order to balance the odds, the Yoroi use ambushes, sabotage, poisons, and a peculiar form of druidic magic to keep their opponents off balance.

>Religion

The Yoroi officially converted to the Church of Divine Duality several centuries ago in order to take away one of the Yoroslovans favorite reasons for invading them. Needless to say it didn't work. Although a few true believers among the Yoroi say that if more Yoroi genuinely converted to the faith, the Church of Divine Duality would rein in the Yoroslovans, most believe that the Church simply doesn't have the influence to dictate Yoroslovan policy to that extent. Not that many would seriously consider giving up their ancient way of life no matter what the reward.

Despite the fact that on paper almost every Yoroi is a member of the Church of Divine Duality, in reality the Yoroi way of life contradicts almost every Church doctrine except in the few areas where Church doctrine aligns with what they were already doing. It is believed that many Yoroi still practice parts of their traditional pagan faith, though most Yoroi will contest this, saying instead that there is no pagan faith, just a collection of folklore and cultural practices. It is believed that this defensiveness stems from the many times that the Gloria-Etalia Faith has been used as a pretext to occupy or invade their territory.
Vashians who live in the Yoroi Tribelands generally follow the Vashian Chapel, as do some Yoroi who are strongly aligned with them.

>Organization

The Yoroi Tribelands are ruled by loosely organized semi-nomadic tribes. The most important tribes have seats on the Council of Tribes, a government set up by the Vashians when they split the Yoroi Tribelands from their core holdings in the Vashian Republic. Although typically seen as just a puppet government that rubber stamps decisions made by the Vashian government, the Council does occasionally wring out concessions from the Vashian Republic, like the increase in trade deals with states other than the Vashian Republic.

Some tribes and individuals have tried to set up alternate governments like the East Yoroi Court based in Freegate in Yoroslova, or various competing Yeradi De'dun tribal councils.

Each tribe generally enforces laws itself, though the large numbers of Vashian soldiers posted in the Tribelands to protect Vashian interests will sometimes enforce laws "on behalf of" the Tribal Council, whether they like it or not.

>Origin

The Yoroi Tribes were a loosely connected culture of hunter-gatherers that settled along the Westrasi Sea in ancient times. They practiced a form of agriculture in which the trees and orchards of the area were cultivated around their migrating routes and the Yoroi calendar is still used as the basis of almanacs around the sea.

Despite numerous attempts, they were never fully integrated into the Verani Empire, and instead accepted paying tribute and military occupation in return for being able to continue practicing their traditional way of life. Following the collapse of the Verani Empire, the regain full independence for several centuries, but then lost almost half of their territory to King Yoros almost eight centuries ago. The eastern portion of the Tribelands remained independent, but constantly at war with the Yoroslovans to the west, and the Araxians to the east.

Origin (continued)

Although they held up well under pressure on two fronts, the Yorai culture was ultimately conquered by a series of invasions from across the sea by Saramese exiles. Over the years these raids would see the Saramese form a unique ethnic identity known as Vashian; they took control of the Yorai lands and declared an independent Vashian republic, based on the Morloux model but without rights given to the Yoroi or the poor. Recent economic pressures led to a campaign for voting rights for all citizens and to avoid giving control of the government to Yoroi; the majority Yorai areas were spun off into an "independent" reservation known as the Yoroi Tribelands. They are governed by a Consulate headquartered at the border town of Jupita, and the Yoroi are forbidden from entering the republic without written documents.

>Diplomacy

The most hated enemy of the Yoroi are the Araxians, who they have warred with since ancient times. Even with the two century long occupation by the Vashians, and frequent invasions by the Yoroslovans, many Yoroi Tribes will fight against the Araxian Kingdom any chance they get, whether it be by direct invasion or by working for the Farisians as mercenaries.

There is also little love lost between the Yoroi and the Yoroslovans. King Yoros conquered over half of what was then Yoroi territory and aggressively converted the area to Gloria-Etalia worship in order to increase his legitimacy in the eyes of the other nations. Since then there have been countless invasions by the Yoroslovan Kingdom. However, recently there has political movement forming among Yoroi who believe their best best is to reunite themselves with their cousins.

>Diplomacy (continued)

The relation with the Vashians is also complicated. Although generally seen as occupiers, many see a peaceful life under the Vashians as better than a violent life of warfare against the Yoroslovans, Araxians, and the Vashians themselves. Like the Verani Empire before them, the Vashians generally permit the Yoroi to continue their way of life in return for tribute, which is likely more than is expected if the Yoroslovans or Araxians manage to conquer parts of the territory.

Some see the Farisian Republic as their best hope for a truly independent Yoroi homeland, and have given them trade deals or launched wars on their behalf. Others worry that the Farisians will simply take the Vashian's place, except with naked greed and environmental exploitation replacing the Vashian's more politically astute form of governance.

>Geography

Much of the Yoroi Tribelands are dry forests made up of short, stunted trees, though some groves of drought resistant trees grow surprisingly tall and dense. Patches of farmland exist closer to the border with the Vashians and along major rivers, though some of these are being abandoned as Vashians turn their attentions to safer investments.

>Economy

Lumber and fruit from the woods is harvested by underpaid Yoroi then sold to the republic to be shipped across the sea for mass profit. Some of this is bought from tribes following their traditional way of life, while other material is harvested by Yoroi working in modern orchards and lumber mills owned directly by Vashians. Farms and mines (generally owned by Vashians, but increasingly owned by local Yoroi) also exist.

Despite Vashian dominance of the area for the past two centuries, Farisian merchant companies have been recently establishing their own trade deals with the Yoroi, thanks to the gradual weakening of Vashian control, and their ties to some factions of the Yeradi De'dun movement.

>Recent Events:

4946 - The Vashians split off the Yoroi Tribelands from their core territory in order to block the increasing influence middle class Yoroi were exerting in the Vashian Commons Seat (legislative chamber made up of representatives elected by those who have sufficient property or wealth). The Council of Tribes is created to continue providing some semblance of democracy, but it takes time for the Council to build up some genuine influence.

4985 - A faction of the Yeradi De'dun invades Araxia. The invasion leader, the warlord Kukata, is killed by the Prince of Euraxia in a now famous skirmish.

4986 - In order to avoid war with Araxia and Euraxia, the Vashian Republic loosens its trade monopolies in the Tribelands in return for political support from the Farisian Republic. Farisians are the main beneficiaries of this, using existing political ties with certain tribes to lock down a number of profitable trade deals.

4996 - Yoroslovia invades parts of the Tribelands but is driven out.

4998 - A faction of the Yeradi De'dun score a notable propaganda victory when they drug an entire unit of Vashian soldiers and leave them bound and naked in a field.

5000 - Yoroslovia invades parts of the Tribelands and is this time able to occupy some land.

Nice to see some collaboration compiled before this setting inevitably turns into a trainwreck. You'd think some of the anons who chipped in would do the reasonable thing and build directly from stuff like this or the process used. Ah well, it'll be insistent autists from here on out, apparently. Have a (you). Too many cooks, and too few recipes. It was a worthwhile effort though, good luck.

Celestials are Mary Sue, I am honestly starting to think it's literal Chinks shitting up the thread as you can't ever say anything bad about their country.

Same with the /d/ spamming even though the OG post had nothing sexual in it.
