/tg/ - Traditional Games

Gloria-Etalia is a kitchen sink setting which sprung up into existence when OP gave /tg/ an Empty map and people doodled things onto it. Tecnobarbarians living a nation away from a mess of small nation states. Evil Treants plotting world domination by slowly expanding their empire. An intricate war game between an ancient dragon and a troll who rules a kingdom. It is a world full of nations interacting with each other, and the people interacting in turn.

A Holy Symbol for Gloria-Etalia

>How do clerics receive holy magic from Gloria-Etalia?
Unles it was already stated that they do have magical power from god, i would say they dont. If they have casters on church its just leyline powered mages, that say its miracles (and they even might belive it).
Strength of GE folowers should be political one, based on monilithic structure. Or atleast that's how i see it.
>>
>>74889885
Seems fair, I see a lot of the pagan faiths working the same way except occasionally they take instructions from various supernatural creatures posing as something more powerful.
>>
How up to date is the 'race' section of the wiki, btw?
>>
>>74890527
Not great.

I am going to update Halflings and Giants at some point to reflect the stuff I added to HGA.

Aside from that, ChillVamp has a laundry list of races he wants updated on his google doc
>>
I am going to take a shot at the Ram's Head area, starting with the most underused regions.

I think it is safe to say that one anon who claimed part of the region isn't coming back at this point, though I will work with the stuff he posted.
>>
>>74890527
It's less on the up to date side and more on the nonexistent side.

Seconded. Most religions don't worship real divine beings. The only religion with D&D style clerics could be Cult of Miracle. The Black Faith, Wild Lord Faith and Black Sand Island Native faith could have Warlock powers from their patron.

All other religions should just be wizards and sorcerors, if they use magic.

> The Araxian Runnin Cow
Or better known as the Araxian Warbull is the most characteristic export of the Araxians. A rare breed of cow as big as a horse. Araxian Warbulls are the most aggressive bovine known to man and have been bred for centuries to omnivorous, to make them even more vicious.

Araxian Running Cows are only bred in Araxia and the Araxian King is known for sending out knights and even starting wars to make sure the monopoly stays there. As such Araxian cows are never to be sold to outsiders and Araxian Bulls are only sold castrated.

Castrating the Bull is a known practice and a necessary one. While it makes the Bull loose some of it's aggressiveness the males are extremely territorial and unless castrated would fall into a frantic rage when encountering another male which would often result with a duel between the males until death. Even when castrated the bulls keep a large portion of said viciousness as such are permitted only to be used in an army in the proportion: 1 Warbull per 5 horses, though only the Araxians themselves have enough Warbulls toi field that many.

Araxian Warbulls are seen as the best and most desirable mount in all of Westerasi, with only the Laixi-Auroxian Commonwealth refusing to acknowledge it to be so.

In an Auroxian Army of knights only one Uncastrated Warbull may be present. The title to ride this bull is a great honor and usually is given to the best rider among them which is decided by track record in jousting and bullfighting tournaments.

There exist a few bastard-breed of the Araxian Running Cow

> The Araxian Taurox
A Bastard Breed found in the Celestial Empire. An Auroxian Merchant once stole a Knights Praised Uncastrated Warbull and sold it to a Celestial Diplomat. Said warbull was then bred with Celestial Cattle to create "their own warbulls". The Araxian Taurox is considered by Celestials to be exactly the same as the Araxian Running Cow, in spite of being very docile and Calm and merely resembling the original in appearance. (it's used as an exotic pet by celestial nobility)

> The Araxian Bloodox
Wishing to improve the Araxian Running Cow, a few enterprising nobles imported Bloodoxes from the steppe. Said bovines are much bigger than the Running Cow, but very calm in comparison. Through breeding experiments it was possible to create something in between. The Araxian Bloodox if uncastrated is aggressive enough to be used in battle, though it's clumsiness and slowness makes it unfit for the traditional form of Araxian warfare. Still it found it's niche in pulling heavy carts as well as Battering ram or to tear trough elite Infantry Formations with raw size.

I finished the Faith-Classification of GE Faiths for CK3 sadly, no one gave me any new Faiths or religions to help figure things out, so some religions might seem a bit random.

If you have anything to fix or change please present it ASAP.

I also changed the names of a lot of religions so they sound nicer.

I also added the Galactic Pantheon... which I don't think should have been added to the lore. It feels weird to have mostly false religions with a few religions worshiping real supernatural Entities which have limited not even-planet-wide powers and then suddenly a completely new Pantheon is added out of nowhere whose Gods can create planets and galaxies and are the real canon Gods which created the world. Sadly the pig page on them does not mention the ways or faiths that worship them so I just made some stuff up myself.

If I missed something it is not me maliciously deleting people's lore. It is just hard to siff trough 200 wiki pages and not miss any details.

At start it can be just namechanged into what you propose, but when we get to coding in future i think it would be best if we try and split it up.
Also rite of guest is literalty against established lore, since they bond for life. Female adultery is prohibited, but if it happens children are kept as bastards, male adultery resoults in banishment of bastard.
Also considering that they bond for life i doubt same sex relations, and deviancy would be allowed
>>
>>74896915
Yeah, I just reread Snow Elf lore and some things seem rather contradictory. The Snow lf faith I wrote up seems to be based on old lore, so I concede it needs to be deleted.

Yeah I agree, renaming stuff will suffice at the start. I think the most important thing is getting the mod to presentable state and releasing it to try to get some more modders.

For now we have one programmer and I think 3 people volunteered as writers. We need at lest someone who can do models, maybe one more programmer and someone to do art and UI.

For some reason both ChillVampire in his list of lore that needs work, and some other anon on thread #7 felt that Nanji should be a naga nation, though in the case of the second anon, it is probably because early writing for the naga said they settled in the Nanji peninsula, which probably caused confusion, even though it was stated that the area they settled in later became the Ivory Kingdom.

But given the only other pre-existing scraps of information related to the Nanji was that the lizardmen there were vassals of the Merchant League, and that the humans there were mostly Vishga, I decided to combine the three concepts.

Quick Summation

>The Qoktengal People orginate int he river Qok
>They learned about fire from chasing dragons and used dragon hunts to lead them to Oozestadons to hunt
>The first domesticated the horse and spread from Eastralia all the way across the Great Plains and some parts of Northedge
>Tarrow Weed was discoved in the Kanna knot, and was propagated by the Horselords. This made Horses stronger and faster and made Oozestadons slower fatter and easier to hunt
>Tarrow Weed led to a population boom and the various Qoktengal groups started to diverge into the Qifu Natives, Uruzatarr, Kannakars, Tnz etc
>The Temegal are the "purest" of the Qoktengal groups left (akin to Indigenous tribes as seen in Latin America as oppisted to mestizx)
>Temegal to this day are the greatest Horse tamers and riders on the Planet
>Various Khanates never truly conquered the Temegal out of a mix of respect, the natural defense of the Qok River, skilled horsewarfare and Qifu propping them up as a natural buffer between western raids.
> Uruz GreatKhan broke sacred vows and had a traitor assassinate several Temegal chiefs during a Quorog ceremony. The Traitor's name was striken from all record and they are now only Teme Khan
>The "Four Gifts" are the elements of old Qoktengal Tradition (and its descendants in the Gold Dragon and Lion Cults). Water (First Gift, Qok River.) Fire (Second Gift, Dragonbreath) Flesh (Third Gift, Horses) and Plants (Fouth Gift, Tarrow Weed
>Qok Cultures have a tradition of seeing twins as legally one person. They share titles, spouses, horses and land.
>Various Qoktengal groups have taken up diverse political and cultural systems , the Temegal are the only tribes that still purely nomadic hunter-fisher-propagators
>>

The Kingdom of Ivory was called the Nanj in the lore I researched on the Ivory Kingdom, thats why I wrote them as living in the penisula as far north as the Kanna Knot.

I dog the syncreitism though.

Logically I can see the Nanji being named after the Nang, like how we have Romania and Rome or Turkmeninstan and Turkey . "Nanj/Nang seems to be term for Naga)

Find the city of Yari. Trace a straight line from it to the world wall going west. There.
>>
>>74900901
There is the Yari Pass that runs into the leixi-airoxian commonwealth

As well as a southern route into the Giant Halfling Alliance that hasnt been canonically fleshed out yet
>>
>>74900901
>The Sarcian Mountains [better Westrasian name needed] (or Wall of the World in the Celestial Empire) are precipitous and nearly impassible. Nearly. There are in fact two passes of note.
>The first is the route along the top of the cliffs where the mountains meet the sea. That route is narrow, but can be navigated by mule trains with care, and there is some trade between the Giants and the Empire, mostly of fine wine and brandy for silks. It is fortunate that both sides are peaceable. There are also several places where there are landslides hanging above the route, barely restrained by clever contrivances of rope ensorcelled to never rot, eternally ready to close this route permanently at the slightest threat of invasion.
>The second is by the Pass of Yari. Also called Great Dragon Pass, this consists of a twisting route up a great col on the western side to a wall at the top of the pass, manned year round by the army of Leixi-Airoxia. There is then a narrow rope bridge from the gate in the wall across a sheer ravine over a mile deep to the other wall, guarded by Imperial forces. The walls are adorned by great designs of dragons in the style of the two sides (bearing in mind that neither side had an artist who had actually seen the overwhelming majesty of a real dragon). The route down on the other side to Yari is mostly along a long and narrow ridge. It is through the Pass of Yari that the Empire trades their tea for precious amber from the beaches of the Westrasi Sea and Saramese jade.
>The exact manner by which the bridge over the great border ravine was made is uncertain, but it is surely the case that no invader could cross this way: a bit of fire, or some quick work with a knife, and the pass will be closed. By being so under threat, it can be viewed as *not* being a threat, and so safe to allow trade to happen that way.

what is the galactic pantheon
>>
>>74901672
A new pantheon of Gods recently added to the Setting.

https://gloriaetalia.fandom.com/wiki/The_Galactic_Pantheon

Again it feels like they are a bit too "big" for the setting let's say. Because the only real divine entities we have in setting are just powerful supernatural beings which are powerful, but maybe nation-level.

The Galactic Pantheon is the Divine beings that created the Solar system and the world of GE. And no religion worshiping them is mentioned so I assume them creating the world is the "Real Canon".

Yeah, the Miracle of Creation, the Wild Lord and Mokla Ki.

Those 4 Gods were the only true Gods confirmed to be "real" before. Then again all those deities either watch over a certain territory or are not planet creating deities.
>>
>>74902217
This was never posted in thread. All lore should be posted in theads. People need to stop ignoring threads when writting/rewriting lore since it only causes confusion.
As for this lore itself i don't think we really need to add "space gods", especialy we don't have to add those that created this space system, since even in earliest threads people wanted to keep cause of creation of planet ambiguous.
>>
>>74902345
I am nervous about TInko. I like the idea of a big multicultrual melting pot city, but putting it in Celestia gives me pause given how detailed we have gone on that
>>
>>74902608
Yeah, I do think he posted a link to the rewrite last thread with the linked page and a bunch of people commented on it though.

I did ask him this thread to post all lore in thread. Because he did a rewrite of the Nanji Citystates this time and only linked the wiki again.

I don't want the space Gods either, but I am not sure if it's OK for just 2 people to decide to delete them.
>>
>>74902632
Yeah, I think rewriting it to be Free City the types of "Gdańsk" or "Kraków" could work. Basically the City has it's "own" government, but both the HGA and CE have imput and representatives in said government and both collect a share of taxes too.

>>74902682
So it would be directly on border as quasi-independent entity?
>>
>>74902682
Question is does a major player like that dropped in a major nation violate existing lore too hard.

We already have a map of Celestia, given it was never said to be comprehensive but a major icty like that in land of an already existing state is a big pill to pop.

What if like instead of one city, Tinto is the region of the roads, a creole multicultural melting pot of traders and envoys moving back and forth from east to west that is a unique cultural identity because its made up o mostly non celestials (who get taxed the fuck out)

So like what if the silk road got so dense it basically was its own society

I doubt there would need to be an investment considering it's smack-dab in the middle of the setting's equivalent of the Silk Road. The HGA lore also says they have good relations with CE.

Also heres my proposition on looks of southern pass. Tunku'tto/Tinokoto/whatever would be placed between world wall, and cliffs, that people have to use to cross the southern pass. Because of this any trading caravan would have to cross it, or just sell its vares here and go back.
Also city acts as "soft" border between both sides, so no border incidents can happen.
>>
>>74903016
my quick proposition*
>>
>>74903016
>>74902874
The geography of the area is also saif to be very cliffy and steep and not very hospitable to a major society.

I think it would be more like a theme park in scale than a city A place to stop and trade. Like a grand bazaaar, but not a full city or city state
>>
>>74902444
The particular coven was deep into irony, so they made the merchant's dingaling grow to twice the size of an Araxian Running Bull's.

>>74902242
>>74902316
I deliberately avoided bringing up magic in relation to Tunko'tto since there was conflicting ideas of what the ley line node should be.
>>
>>74903034
How about its this sprawling trade thing that overlaps both borders but due to its remoteness it doesn't bloom to a full city.

Instead its mostly just traders and merchants. Doesnt even really have a government
>>
>>74903091
Same here.

My personal vote is to have a small town off the road to Tunkotto, becasue I like the dramatic irony of a nowhere flyover town beeing overshadowed by a bustling trade area when it has a hidden treasure of magic know how.

And also because I like the trope of weird magic/sci fi shit being in small unimportant towns (Bellwood, Santa Clarita, Sunnydale, Stranger Things, Cardiff, every other Steven King Book)

But thats another subject.

So far I like the Trade City in the Cliffs vibe for Tunku'tto
>>
>>74903016

>>74903055
Do you really think no city would grow at the spot of a Unique Lay-line and only major east-west trade route by land?

>>
>>74903252
>Do you really think no city would grow at the spot of a Unique Lay-line and only major east-west trade route by land?
Noth him but considering that both of those are in different places - yes.
Route by land is on cliffs near sea, while leyline is much more inland.
>>
>>74903295
Maybe the Ley-line knot could be a mountain-monastery then?
>>
>>74903252
Yeah I mean its not like leyline nodes magically attract people. Folks just discover them becasue they notice the magic getting stronger around there.

If the area is remote and out of the way, and then you have a trade city siphoning off people (same way interstates dry up smaller communities they bypass) I can easily see no one giving notice to rumors of country bumpkins and whatever nonsense they get up to.

So without a bunch of magic scholars and such there (and note Celestia is a nation low on the magic development scale) I can see it sipping past notice

>>74903389
Its literally the Helspont, birthplace of Demons (ancestors to modern Oni) and what Duo Qian was built over
>>
>>74903374
Not hidden so much as unknown. Same way we dont know where every shale despoti on earth is no reason why EVERY leyline node would be discovered. Especially ones in remote areas.

Some folks may not even recognize as nodes and I would hazard a guess not all the lines have been totally mapped out in universe.

The east continent didn't even know Blue magic EXISTED for most of its history.

>Gloria and Etalia

The Two-Faced God known as Gloria-Etalia is an enigmatic entity, beyond the understanding of even the most learned priest. The vast majority of its believers do not waste any effort investigating its mysteries. Instead, they view Gloria-Etalia as a divine saviour who descended from the heavens and gave humanity the secret of civilisation, only to flee when mankind squandered this gift. Of course, this is not the truth.

First and foremost, Gloria and Etalia were not a single being, but two separate entities. Second of all, these entities were not individual creatures. Instead, they were a pair of interstellar vessels used to travel between faraway planets. Perhaps they were run by competing captains who had a vested interest in the world, or maybe they belonged to rival empires which had conflicting visions for the planet. It's even possible that the two ships served the same nation or organisation, and that the crews of these vessels were meant to cooperate with each other.

This is highly unlikely, however. While Gloria and Etalia might have shared an interest in the planet and its inhabitants, they acted on this attraction in vastly different ways.

The vessel that we shall label as Gloria was responsible for the most obvious signs of alien interference. The actions of its crew were almost altruistic in nature, as they went out of their way to protect and support the planet's inhabitants whenever they encountered them. However, their methods were decidedly forward. Tribes that had earned their attention were protected by combat drones, fed by nutrient dispensaries and educated by repositories of encyclopedic knowledge. These primitive societies experienced rapid growth and advancement but at the same, Glorian interference also left them reliant on the generosity of their benefactors.
>>
>>74905311
The vessel that we shall label as Etalia was much more subtle in how it interacted with the native population, but it was also anything but compassionate. Its crew was responsible for abducting countless individuals, for the purpose of altering their minds and bodies. Mighty warlords and exalted prophets alike were produced by the Etalian method, and were let loose to spread their ideologies, religions and genes throughout the world. Just like Gloria, the crew of this ship sought to uplift and enlighten the planet's primitive societies, yet their methods were far more cautious, gradual and amoral. The few times when Etalia was forced to act openly, the results were always cataclysmic.

The Glorian approach and the Etalian method did not mesh well, whenever they interacted with each other. Conquering hordes produced by the machinations of Etalia were neutralised by the robotic guardians of Glorian settlements, while the enlightened tribes of Gloria were led astray and indoctrinated by Etalian proselytisers. Any progress made by one entity was undone by the other and over the course of centuries, little progress had been made. Whether it was intentional or not, Gloria and Etalia had successfully sabotaged each other's operations.

After hundreds of years of investment, both ships abandoned their activities on the planet and made no effort to influence its natives ever again. The reason for this isn't known. Perhaps interstellar affairs meant their attention was required elsewhere, perhaps they destroyed each other in a heated battle, or perhaps by coincidence, they simultaneously decided that the planet wasn't worth the effort and left it behind. Gloria and Etalia disappeared, but Glorian machines still remained and Etalian agents were left to run rampant. These remnants of alien intervention shaped the world over the course of millennia, and still influence it even to this day.

Accomplishments of the Glorian Method:
>The creation and proliferation of the Molluscs, for the purpose of reducing the radiological contamination still present in the planet's atmosphere and oceans.
>The creation of several servitors that exist for the purpose of protecting and educating humanity, some of which are still operational and can be found in distant corners of the world. Devotees of Gloria-Etalia view these robotic beings as 'angels.'
>The limited spread of the Treant Empire. While humanity was still primitive and developing, the forests of the Treants were rapidly expanding. Only the intervention of Glorian servitors kept them from engulfing the entire Ram's Head region during this period.
>The literacy of the Celestial Empire. One of the Glorian servitors taught the tribes of the Dan-Fo River how to read and write through a gamified system. In exchange for demonstrations of literacy, it fertilised the land. This may be the origin of the minor deity, Zin Wan.

>Accomplishments of the Etalian Method:
>Likely the source of all Gloria-Etalia worship, though not as a unified religion. By encouraging the disparate tribes to fixate on the merits of civilisation, Etalia hoped to give them common ground that would eventually encourage unification and promote societal advancement.
>The humbling of the Solendor. Seeking to escape from the planet, an army of elves made the mistake of trying to hijack Etalia while it was grounded. It retaliated by dousing the Solendor with plasma. The survivors fled and founded secluded city-states, to hide from further retribution.
>The development of the Tnz'qran. It is possible that the conquering ways of the Tnz'qran are the result of an Etalian attempt to engineer a horde that could unify the continent.
>The creation of the Way of Heaven, which evolved into the 'science' of Euhaematics that is practised by the Uroxian Federation.

Any further suggestions for how Gloria and Etalia have shaped the world are welcome.

Robots existing in GE is a thing I like a lot adds a bit of the Sci-Fi back. There is now other robots than just the ones operating the amusement parks in the World Scar.

The treant Empire did not form until after meeting the Celestials so I don't see why they'd be super expansionist before.

The Tnz'qran thing also barely makes any sense.

>Again it feels like they are a bit too "big" for the setting let's say. Because the only real divine entities we have in setting are just powerful supernatural beings which are powerful, but maybe nation-level.

I just finished up writing the rest of their lore. In it I talked about how they can only operate through servants because while they have a lot of knowledge and power, they are planets. An important thing I should note is that they did not create the solar system, they are the solar system.

I feel like the name is a bit misleading, as they aren't gods and my non sleep addled mind has realised they should have been called "the solar pantheon", not " the galactic pantheon", but IDK what a better one would be. "the solar pantheon" is fine but sounds a little dumb. Any suggestions?

I posted it in #20. Here it is >>74820981. As I said there they are more being of great power than gods, meant to fill the slot of eldritch patron/idols of cults that we are sorely lacking.

Beings of Immense Proportion
The first gods of Gloria-Etalia. They are unknown to the world at large with the vast majority of all life believing them to not exist. Their primary objective is to punish the mortal races who destroyed their friend Ari. While they would prefer the destruction of all life on Gloria-Etalia, after more than five thousand years of trying to cause their demist they have resigned themselves to applying retribution to the mortal races as they see fit.

Immortals of Eons
The planetary bodies possess great amounts of knowledge from their millennia of life. They have a natural affinity towards magic, and have discovered countless secrets to subvert the greatest challenges of the universe. While normal gods usually gain their power through belief, the pantheon performs their miracles through skill and prowess honed through eons. However due to their physicality they can rarely interact directly with the world around them. Instead they find mortals and convince or coerce them into accepting a slice of their power in exchange for service. Cults do exist, but usually paint an inaccurate picture due to manipulation from their leaders. As long as they do their bidding the planets usually do not care how it is done and are fine with this image.

The exact nature of the service differs from planet to planet but almost always involves chaos, destruction, and personal, constant communication. Through the use of dreams, hallucinations, subtle alterations to the world, or other means they will usually contact their ward frequently. They are developed talkers, but struggle with some concepts like gender or how mortals look. The planets understand these concepts, they just find them unnecessary or too complicated to use.

The Pantheon

Qaili is asleep, trapped in their own subconscious state of living, for the planets do not know the life their sun holds. If Qaili were to awaken, it would be a galactic gamechanger. All he wants in life is someone to be with, be it man or planet.

Hadid was arguably Ari’s closest friend, and from their death feels the most hate towards the mortal races. Hadid still works towards the death and suffering of those on Gloria-Etalia, flora or fauna.

Alhaya, while not as heartbroken as Hadid over Ari’s death, still hates those living on Gloria-Etalia with a passion and wishes them long, painful deaths. Unlike Hadid, Alhaya believes that by disasters like monster attacks or war the races will pay for the death of Ari.

Ari is dead. Glimmers of their life essence can still be found in the deepest regions of the world, where unknown horrors lurk.

Qazam and Eimlaq live beyond the Niun Bawwaba. While they mourn the death of their friend like the others they have an curious interest in the creatures that now live on Gloria-Etalia. Qazam finds the flora and fauna on the planet fascinating, and experiments with the wildlife and mortals on the planet. Eimlaq is more interesting in the geography and weather. While Qazam and Eimlaq will instruct their servants to spread havoc and chaos they will also have odder requests, like dissecting an animal or measuring the wind patterns for a few days.

I'd tie them to the existing pantheons.

Basically how the Arm, Boro, Celestial and Other pantheons actually worship said pantheon from different point of view or something.

It'd be less out of place imo if it has some ties to the preexisting faiths.

The robots can be active long after Gloria-Etalia left. The 'territorial peak' of the Treant Empire was 1350 (before the Celestial Empire actually existed so the lore's already fucked) and it's possible some left-over robots were still around to prevent them from just conquering all of Ram's Head during that period.

And saying that something doesn't make sense without saying anything to back up that statement doesn't really mean anything. Etalia could've easily just picked up a bunch of proto-Tnz'qrans, indoctrinated them with war-like tendencies and pumped them full of 'roids and dropped them back in their tribes, with the primary goal of "go forth and conquer." It'd do a great deal to explain their war-like and fractious nature.

He told the treants about nations, writing, and the outside world. When pressed, he told them about the Empire's govermental system, and they deciced to create their own by copying them. Following the outline of the empire they started to expand their terrority, slowly. They also started to keep time using a system the explorer told them about. But if anything about the Treant Empire should be accurate and correct, it should be the actual page about the Treant Empire on the wiki. So either make sure that it conforms to the "real" starting date of the Treant Empire, or be prepared for people to be confused and use the wrong information because it's on their page.
>>
>>74906054
When creating such project, people are bound to be confused. Everywhere there is contradictory lore, just look at celestial and their portrayal. They are at the same time existing far back enought to inspire Wi-Fi and treants, while existing maybe for half of the time those two do. I could go one and go one, but that's not the point. Point is everything before 5k is fluf, and can be misinterpreted. We should focus on the present, instead of constantly focusing on stuff that does not matters now.

No, yes, and everything in between.

>>74906243
>The first real lore we've ever gotten about GE that isn't ridiculously vague and that might actually explain what happened and they did that made them the deity of the most popular religion of the continent
>Fluff that doesn't matter
Sorry, but you're wrong. We're talking about the god that the setting is literally named after and there's almost nothing written about it and everything it's done. There's almost nothing written about the era where GE shaped the world. There's almost nothing written about the things that GE introduced to the world. This is actually important. Currently, everything based on GE has no foundation, no structure. We talk about what the church that worships GE should be like without having any idea about what GE actually did to earn that worship. We have no clue about what 'civilization' GE was actually responsible for, and what sort of 'civilization' the Westrasi should worship as a result. If you think writing lore on a non-existent foundation is a good idea, you're free to do that. But this is necessary.
>>74906297
Revocation denied, I'm going to carry this on in your place.
>>
>>74906736
I literaly cant be wrong about how i feel. If you explain everything, then nothing is left to interpretation. Everything people belive in is based on church separated from GE by centuries, so influence from actual GE would be marginal. We have idea on what kind civilization is worshipped by church, so why are you bringing non existing problems here? Also i was taking in general about past contrafictory fluff, not new stuff being added, and its good that you want to take from where last anon ended since he announced revocation.

In the Pantheon of the Based God in his Eternal war against the Cringing One, there's many minor entities. Gods in their own right, except a step blow them, akin to titans in the greek mythology.

The Bump is one of said entities. The bump is invoked among the followers of the based god when they need to remember something, calling for the the god to bump it out from the wells of oblivion. And whenever someone says something unexpected about an event in the past, it's believed that it's the bump god expecting through them, breathing life into a dead or forgotten subject. When a man of honor (A Based Man) dies, it's often said in his eulogies and funerals 'May your stories get bumped', which roughly translates to 'May you never be forgotten'.

The Thread of Fate is the Bump's sister. All stories are said to follow a path, a Thread laid out by the Thread of Fate. Bump actions, however cryptic to mortals, are ultimately in pursuit of preserving the Thread of Fates. Like many threads, the Thread of Fate is composed by many lesser threads. Individuals lives, the story of nations and objects. An infinite number of lesser threads weaved into the Thread of Fate. So to wish one a long life, you may wish that 'his Thread gets Bumped'.

The Cringing One, ever adversarial, is repellant to the Bump God, for man wants not to remember that which makes Men cringe. The Foul Frog sits upon his swamp of cingry slime, and if your thread falls into this swamp, no amount of bump may ressurect it. That's death not just of a man, but of his legacy. Such is the peril of the Path of Cringe.

Holy fuck Terravia lore is fucking awful
> Terravians pride themselves on their sophistication as a people. However, instead of priding themselves on their wealth and social power, they instead focus on philosophy and spiritual enlightenment. The Terravians believe themselves to be the most enlightened and knowledgeable people in the world, and have declared all other humans to be uncultured barbarians. Their occult practice of Emotism and its teachings is practiced by every citizen. Everybody is very eager to meet new people, to the point that almost everyone in the region knows everyone else on a passing level. One of the most popular pastimes of Terravia is to meet new people, and adventures from Terravia can be found all over Westrasi and beyond. Because of the communist doctrine of their leader and their religious practices of deepening ties with their community, they share everything they can with everyone else, and because of this everyone is happy, which is shared around as well.

If they were so smug about their odd religion they would be instantly raped by all of the GE surrounding them. Also they are perfect communists and everyone is happy???
>>
>>74913771
Economy
There is no money in Terravia. Internally people share with each other, and everyone gives everyone else what they need. Externally they use a barter system with other nations to export food and raw materials.

Player Character Notes
The Terravians are mostly known for their unusual moneyless collectivist form of government, which is typically seen as bizarre by other nations. Terravians are a common sight outside the boundaries of their nation, and are popular due to their focus on sharing wealth and making others happy.

> History of Emotism and Terravia
The first Emotist Religion which came to exist were the Hedonitists. The Hedonitist Religion was founded by Gear Zano in 4793. Gear Zano was Morlouxian explorer who became fascinated with the last remaining Westerasi barbarian people and spent his lifetime studying them as he grew old his fondness for said barbarians became apparent and he wrote what would later be known as the "Hedonitist Manifesto" in said manifesto he postulated dangerous ideals which elevated some traits of barbarians above those of the civilized world. Happiness, kindness and joy were for the first time put above the ultimate value of bringing fourth civilization.

Sadly at the time of Gear the Church of Divine Duality was still a powerful state unrivaled in Westerasi in their influence. As such after the Sarkation Hedonitist uprising of 4798 the Hedonists were mercilessly hunted down all over Westerasi.

Hedonitits survived only in tiny communities hiding away from the Church's wrath, that is until the arrival of Owens Hue. Hue was a young noble from an influential Westerasi noble family. He converted to Hedonitism very young, but started incorporating teachings of GE into it. His version of Hedonitism prioritized happiness of people above all else, above productivity and order, but it also saw that the best path towards happiness was to progress both technological, social and individual. Thus trough his influence and the less radical version of the faith he espoused the first in decades legal community of Hedonitists was established who would soon rebrand themselves as Emotists.

The Emotist faith very quickly gained popularity as at the time of it's official establishment the now infamous Splintering of the Church happened and the Church lost large amounts of it's power to many newly emerging Chapels and growth of power of existing ones.
>>
>>74914505
In this climate of religious turmoil Emotism quickly grew and it's semi-secular belief structure lent itself to many people following both Emotism and GE-derived faiths.

As Emotism grew in power it's more orthodox adherents became apparent and started openly criticizing the concept of both nobility and royalty. Thus as as the religious wars in the continent died down Emotists started being expelled from various nations and slowly hunted down. The only nation fully accepting of them was Terravia, which during their war of independence from the Sarkation Empire had large amounts of Emotists fighting on their side. This openness to Emotists lead to the King's downfall as slowly Emotists became the majority of the population and overthrew the king and riled up the peasantry to have all of the nobles locked up, expelled or executed.

Since the creation of the Terravian Emotist Republic more than a 2 Gloriades (Crussades) have been launched, unsuccessfully. Mainly due to the large mobilization rates Terravia can muster. Whereas most Westerasi nations still rely on knights and mages for warfare the Terravians will not shy away from mobilizing their entire population. The Terravians thus using clever Wagenburg tactics and high rates of mobilization managed to establish themselves as "not worth the troubble."

With the death of Owens, the democratic system of 4 year therm limits was firmly put into place and a policy of peaceful relations with the outside world established. Trade was once again made legal and as a sign of good will GE missionaries were permitted entry.

One of the main sources of early Terravia wealth was the "Terravia Dukat" a currency based on ornately carved stone. Unlike other Westerasi currencies it's worth is derived from trust in the state not directly tied to soft metals, the Terravians often use clever currency prize manipulation to that way enrich themselves.
>>
>>74914599
The 2nd Policy which made Terravia Great was the policy of "Spies and Bankers" Emotists were encouraged to establish banks in foreign nations as well as Terravia itself shepherded a reputation of having it's banks be the safest in all of Westerasi, with valuables of many foreign magnates and nobles in Terravia they are always inclined to side against an invasion of the country.

The last time the dark side of Terravia has shown itself was in 4988 during the Unitist Genocide.

From the old Hedonitists a new faith has formed Unitism, a magocratic faith in full rejection of GE ideals instead believing in the unity of mind and body among people which they wished to achieve trough magical exchange of thoughts and emotions. As the Religion grew in Terravia, the state promised 20 Dukat's for each Unitist head driving the peasantry to slaughter Unitists in a manner so thorough not even the president could have expected.

Currently Terravia is considered the 'happiest place in Westerasi'. The state survives thanks to it's non-expansionist nature and importance to Westerasi banking and has a strong alliance with the Chiefom of Uraka and a soft alliance with the Chiefdom of Voroi. The people of Terravia have an average living standard in comparison to the rest of Westerasi, but they live free and pride themselves in their freedom and happiness.
>>
>>74914647
> Culture
Terravians pride themselves on their sophistication as a people. However, instead of priding themselves on their wealth and social power, they instead focus on philosophy, happiness and freedom. The Terravians believe themselves to be the most free and happy people in the world, and reject the yearning for power, wealth and 'civilisation' as more primitive. Their occult practice of Emotism and its teachings is practiced by nearly every citizen, which manifests itself in the eagerness to meet new people. To the point that all Terravians are expected to know each other, as such it is custom to always pretend you know the other person and treat them as a friend. One of the most popular pastimes of Terravia is to meet new people, and adventures from Terravia can be found all over Westrasi and beyond. Because of their doctrine of maximizing happiness it is not rare to see Terravians sharing their material wealth with others. As in Terravian society wealth means little, while making someone else happy gives you a large amount of social status. Thus especially politicians are often seen giving away all their wealth in a bid to be the one to win the election.
>>

> Religion
Emotism is an occult religion which focuses on the emotion of the human body. They believe that everyone is connected, and that emotions travel from person to person. They believe these ties to be the most important part of a mortal body, and practitioners spend their time deepening their ties to those around them through magic and deep connections with other people. The happier the community is, the happier the person is, and so people strive to make sure their neighbors are the happiest they can be.

> Organisation
The state is rules by an every 4 years elected president, who can only serve at most 1 therm and a senate which is comprised of the 10 next failed presidential candidates from the last 4 elections. (40 people in total)

> Diplomacy
Terravia in a lot of ways acts as a bridge between the GE Worshipping and Barbarian people's of Westerasi not being liked or disliked by either of them. Due to it's important role in Westerasi banking Terravia is safe from being invaded and Terravians can also often be found as advisors in many noble courts.

> Economy
The Terravians economy is based of mainly farming the climate of the region is very well suited to locally growing many of the plants imported from foreign far away countries, though their emphasis on happiness makes them work relatively little compared to other Westerasis as such they don't make good use of the land. The only reason they keep up in living standards with the rest of Westerasi is their important role in banking as well as the manipulation of their currency. Terravia also produces unusually many Adventurers which also often contribute wealth to the state.

Are there dickgirls in tge setting? Can there be?
>>
>>74915231
No. No.

>>74915231
no and no
>>
>>74915231
Yes!
>>
So, expanding on >>74905311 and >>74905330, what other events and things that exist in the setting can we attribute to Gloria and Etalia? These can still be present in the setting or they could have slowly disappeared with time, but it's important that we decide how these alien visitors actually impacted the world.

And if you're of the opinion that it's unimportant because it's in the setting's past, that's great and all, but some of us want to actually give the setting some depth instead of making it as wide as an ocean but as deep as a paddling pool. So you can do your own thing while we discuss the setting's foundations.
>>
>>74915782
No
>>
>>74915916
It's stablished they buggered off thousands and thousands of years ago. They aren't present 'through' history. They seed civilization for a couple hundred years and disappear. And everything falls from memory to history, history to legend, legend to myth.
>>
>>74915916
I propose Gloria created the "Thoughtcraft Engine".

The Thoughtcraft commune us said to have the power to create things out of nothing, question is why don't they just go and conquer the world with it?

The trick is the Thoughtcraft Engine an ancient alien machine which lets one solidify their thought and create anything they want, the issue: it has a limited range.

Let's say you use it to make food. If you are said food for 8 years and try to leave you too would disappear.

On the other hand those who mastered the art of Thoughtcraft while inside the border are near invincible as they can make anything on the fly.

Still the Hobgoblins prefer to grow food normally same as forge weapons that way so if needed they can leave or send out Samurai on missions. Though among civilians complacency only grows with each generation.
>>
>>74916141
And now that you're declared that you're not interested in contributing anything of value to this aspect of the project, you can go and work on something else instead.
>>
>>74916195
Now your are just trying to enforce your view of past on the setting. Instead of listening to multiple anons that think this matter should be left vauge you want to meddle in it.
>>
>>74916195
First of all fuck you. Like, just go fuck yourself.
Second of all, I contribute and fuck-ton to this shit unlike your entitled little late-comers whiners that have been posting on the past three threads. I was here when I setting was named on thread #1 and before.

By virtue of that and having virtually read every single post made on 4chan, I remember the first Gloria and Etalia as aliens mention and the first timeline page back when it was on 1d4 chan, and that is probably still up to check.

GE seeded civilization and LEFT. Everything else happened in the wake of them leaving. They left even before elves crashed into the planet. So you know, you have less legs to stand on than a worm to call others out on not contributing when you are just spit randomshit and don't know crap about the setting, you fucktard. You sore sack of entitled shit.
>>
>>74916248
You are the only one saying it should be left vague. I think it's ok to work on it.

Is that the base of the thoughtcraft? I thought it was more about philosophy. I'll admit not reading on them cause I don't care about midlands much but...Wow that's some shitty ass lore, m8. Who thought this bullshit was okay?
>>
>>74916248
To quote someone else:
>everything before 5k is fluf and ... stuff that does not matters now.
I'm writing about the past that apparently 'does not matter' and can be 'misinterpreted.' So if you want to ignore it and misinterprete it in your own writing because it doesn't matter, you can! You can literally ignore everything that is being written, because it's in the past and the past is not important. So you can work on your own thing instead, rather than trying to police and enforce your personal opinion on something which is unimportant, irrelevant and can be ignored.
>>
>>74916266
How could they leave before the elves Clashed if Solenore city-states rose before GE came?

Anon I was here too since thread 1 and was the one who named the setting so stop sucking your own cock.

>I'm going to shit on things the community decided on before I was here and if you disagree with me you must take a bow and go work on something else

No.
>>
>>74916344
You're literally trying to police people who are writing unimportant fluff that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. That's a little weird.
>>
>>74916343
Can you imagine what a society like that would look like? You can't. Nobody can. You don't aren't a Communist. Because there's no means of production. Because there's no production. You want a sammich, you think of it. You want a sword? You think of it. You want full plate armor and a warehouse with a dick that shoot lasers? You think of it.

So basically within the boundaries of this 'thought engine' life is a post scarcity utopia at 0 cost. And that's fun or interesting for the setting because ???

Like, seriously, it's bad lore. For one, nobody can even begin to guess the long term consequences of simply having everything one's want at zero cost and ignoring any sort of preservation of matter/energy principle. Limiting range means nothing if within that range they are basically a society of infinite everything forever.
>>
>>74916318
I did. The name Etalia comes from the continent kinda looking like the Italian hand meme. When I posted that someone posted nearly at the same time the idea of naming it Gloria as it sounds nice.

Then we thought to combine it into Etalia-Gloria. Then settled on Gloria-Etalia in the end.

So yes I literally named this setting so if you are going to be a pretentious dick over Oldfag points then bend over because I am literally better than you at your own pretentiousness.
>>
Guys, guys just calm down everone. Lets just let people write what they want, and unles someone breaks established lore, leave them in peace, or propose changes incivil way.
>>
>>74916353
>what the gods of the greatest religion on the planet and that named the setting did is not important

We know what they did. They taught(re taught) metallurgy, farming and other civilization early game technologies to humans to kickstart civilization.
>>
>>74916372
I think Thoughtcraft itself is pretty hard though. I imagine it takes years of meditation to master.

I do get your point though. I don't like their lore, but this being fact is mentioned in other lore already like the Gargoyle and Drow story and Zephyr mountains lore so I don't know how to fix that without messing with them.
>>
>>74916374
Sorry. I painted the storm islands green, my nigger. If I hadn't done that and named them storm islands, there would be no thread. You can bend over and lick my fucking balls, I am literally THE FIRST POSTER. Bow before me or be destroyed.
>>
>>74916386
Agreed.
>>
>>74916389
If thoughtcraft is really hard, and there's some limit as "what you think needs to be physically possible' and 'complexity and size exponentially increase how difficult it is to conjure a thing', that's way more reasonable. Because it means basically it's easier to physically make a sword than to summon one with your mind.

Add to that the limit of one's lifespan and mental capacity and that makes it way easier to include in the setting without breaking it.
>>
>>74916403
That's really not that impressive. I mean I set up the 1d4chan page and migrated everything from the doc there. Then I set up the wiki and migrated everything from 1d4chan there.

Also weren't you gone for a fuckton of threads? As a few threads ago you came back marveling at how "you painting those islands green created so much?".

(also I proposed the giant fuck-off crater in the middle of the map which was later retconned so I still was there before you so check mate tranny)
>>
>>74916403
At least we now know who the guy always sperging out was it's Storm Islands Fag.
>>
>>74916451
No clue what you are talking about. I did not work on the storm islands besides naming them, but I have posted on every thread since. I'm working from home because of the sharona and I basically don't do anything else on /tg/ or 4chan as a whole aside from GE because the rest of the /tg/ is a twitter-thread-baiting wasteland of salt, /pol/-dogwhistling and 40k.

So no. I've been around. I could list my contributions, but honestly, that would be meaningless because how can anyone confirm any of this?

But hey, kudos for being the first fuckweasol to use 'tranny' in this threads. Just what we needed in this project was a pol-tard bringing up identity politics into this shit.
>>
>>74916514
Tranny is the new fag. Anyway good on you for backpeddling on you sperging out.

And both of you keep /pol/ shit out of this thread because you really don't want to open that door. Please.
>>
>>74916573
Oookay. I hope anon continues his "actions by GE" if he does not I'll do it later myself.
>>
>>74916573
Alright, I'll shut up. And I agree that we should not bring the /pol/-tards here.
>>
>>74916573
>>74916604
Yeah, I'm going to continue doing it. People trying to flex their seniority in order to try and police a collective project handled by anonymous participants aren't going to sway me. If these people (or this person) really want GE to be as vague as possible and for GE to be responsible for nothing but the most minor technological advances over CENTURIES of interference, then they're welcome to ignore whatever I write and continue to treat the past as irrelevant, unimportant and vague. Doesn't mean that I'm not going to write it.
>>
>>74916691
Why are you trying to inflame things again after people had already put a stop to it?
>>
>>74916691
So the whole GE she-bang is that they want civilization to flourish, right? And they have advanced enough tech to travel between stars.
They come to the planet and give an undefined amount of technological advancements to people. This people found a religion focused around improving and advancing civilization, a thing that really never happened in world history.
4k+ years later, they are vaguely on the renaissance era level of tech only and arguably less cause no powder.
4k years ago, we humans were not even at the bronze age. And we didn't had any alien patron kickstarting us. We also did not have a consistently existing religion that propel us forward to civilized everything since them. Actually, little less than 2.7k years ago we had the Bronze Age collapse we sent civilization back in spades in terms of sophistication. And yet 2.7k years later we are talking of colonizing mars and have reached the moon.
In GE, nations who worship the civilizing alien gods and who were given a undefined amount of boons and technology by them, who have access to technological relices from technobarbarians...Have somehow progressed far far less than we have in half that time. How comes?
>>
>>74916703
Because regardless of how much people previously contributed to the project, right now the only contributions people are making is shutting down anything that other people try to write. The amount of new lore is at an all-time low, with barely a handful of updates to the wiki every day.

So I'd like to encourage those people to continue to produce content for the project (regardless of how much content was previously produced by them), rather than just preventing the creation of new content without doing any creation of their own (again, old creations don't count, i'm talking about new additions).
>>
>>74916788
I'm not sure keeping a hostile tone is gonna promote the creation of content. There was a heated argument, someone stopped it. Reigniting it only serves to keep the threads full of vitriol rather than OC. That's my opinion.
>>
>>74916781
This is actually explained to some degree by >>74905311 and >>74905330. Gloria directly intervened and was responsible for protecting, feeding and educating humanity, while Etalia tried to help humanity by subtly nudging it in the right direction through indoctrination and sleeper agents. The result was Gloria and Etalia sabotaging each other's efforts, as their methods clashed. In fact, their combined intervention might have even done more harm than good, and is the reason for the stagnancy of the world and its slow technological development.
>>
>>74916781
Keep in mind though that it took us ~12 000 years to get from the invention of farming to now.

Or it took us ~4000 years to get from the invention of iron to now.

And we did not have to deal with:
> Dragons
> Nuclear fallout everywhere
> Magic (magic makes science harder because whatever experiment you make the results can get muddled because some magical effect interfered)

Imagine it like this in our world you can measure the density of water very easily. Weight/Volume, but in GE depending on the ambient magic surrounding you that can vary.

Let's say working with water in the presence of nearby water spirits increases the amount slightly every time you transfer it between containers. Meanwhile around destruction magic it reduces it.

Around 'permanence' magic water wants to keep it's shape so it becomes more viscous. In areas of moderate magic these changes would be too minuscule to notice or make use of, but for precise scientific measurements they would make science unbearable.

>>74913546
Looks good, but please post the rewrite on the thread next time.

>>74914733
This is fine.

> The Ecinevian Method of Ambient Magic Meassurment (AMM)
Ambient Magic acts upon objects in a state of change. It does not act on stagnant water, but it does on flowing water. Same as to alter the state of something in a stagnant state active magic is needed.

The gentler and weaker something is the easier it is to observe the change. So far we have determined the candle to be the best determiner of type and power of ambient magic.

The Tenkorian Candles are all made in one place and exactly to burn the same amount of time with the same brightness. Usually they are to burn at what we classify as 1 Tenkorian Hour (2h 20min) and 1 Tenkorian Luminosity.

The Presence of permanence aka Black magic, extends the time a candle can burn. A gain of 0.002 Th is considered to indicate low levels of Black Magic while 0.01 Th indicates very high ones.

Growth aka Purple is indicated by the size of the flame, which generally corresponds to it's Luminosity. Luminosity is something hard to measure with the human eye, as such we use darkening plates. Become darker the stronger the luminosity they are exposed too is the standard exposure time it 0.05 Th.

Destruction or Yellow magic results in the candle-flame flickering. Sadly a Darkening plate would also register this as heightened luminosity as such it is on the researcher to conclude if that was caused by flickering or the flame being larger.

Chaos aka Blue magic. Causes minor changes in the color of the flame, sadly those are impossible to notice by the human eye. Luckily we managed to recently invent Chromatic Glass Panes which if you look trough them at Tenkrian candles make the flame seem invisible. As such the "intensity" at which you see the candle flame at all trough the Pane determines the level of magic, sadly we found no method of standardized measurement and it is all done by looking with human eye.
>>
>>74916908
Technological advancement didn't rely on rigorous scientific observation until the 1800s
>>
Here's another suggestion: While control, permanence, destruction, chaos and growth are good names for magic from a meta-perspective, they seem a bit weird from an in-character perspective. A little jarring and stilted. I'd encourage each culture to come up with its own names for the magic that it interacts with.
>>
>>74917053
Control or Red magic is the hardest to measure as it pushes all towards the norm. As such the best way to measure it is to gently blow at the candle flame, at a certain point ambient control magic will cause the flame to ignore the gentle wind and it will return to being upright. The amount of time this takes determines the level of ambient Red magic, if it takes more than 0.8 Th it can be considered negligible.

Red magic in spite of being rare is to be measured every time, as the presence of red magic lessens the accuracy of of the measurements of the other 4 forms of magic.

Measurements of magic at unusually magic areas or leyline knots are to unpredictable to be classified and it is ually impossible "untangle" the knot to see what types of magic compose it with simple experiments.

> What impact on science would this have?
1. Every time you do an experiment you need to know the local levels of ambient magic
2. Every time you do an experiment you need to calculate the level of statistical error said ambient magic caused
3. Due to ambient magic some things witch work in places without magic won't and vice versa.
4. When determining the properties of ANYTHING it is hard to tell which properties are innate or magical.
>>
>>74917113
Wrong, they did a ton of experiments and scientific observations in ancient Greece and even middle ages.

That is mostly a myth.

>Doomsday caused by people who couldn't agree on how to handle world-building

>>
>>74917177
Those would not have been significantly affected by slightly variation in water density. The invention of the plow, iron working, seeds, crop domestication, levers and cranes, strip mining, shaft mining, the wheel, animal husbandry, horseback riding, food conservation, forestry, pottery, organized labor, calendars are way more impactful fur civilizations than math theorems specially before eletricity and machinery or computation.

>>
>>74917143
Those are probably the names of a specific magical tradition. Others prob have other names for them yes. Qoktnegal folks prob name them after their four elements, (As Chaos Magic wasnt known to the east until relativily recently)
>>
>>74917338
I wouldn't be shocked if GE interfered with them as well, they probably just don't recognize it as GE but one of their own gods. Also, not the most advanced.
>>
>>74917456
Can't some part of the setting not be affected by the !not-trasnformers?

I mean, Warhammer fantasy is named after the Warhammer of Sigmar and yet you have many regions where Sigmar didn't touch. Dungeons and Dragons has regions without one or the other in most settings. Pathfinder has places where the paths were already found long ago, World of Darkness has day and night.

Maybe Celestials can just stand on their own two feet?
>>
>>74917316
Going past the Renaissance would be affected though.
>>
>>74917456
Indeed they are not most technologically advanced. Westerasi is.

>>74917555
Sure they can, but considering just hod goddamn close they are to Westerasi does it make sense? Especially as they are basically perfectly in between the 2 major landing sides.

If any parts of the world should be unaffected by GE it should be Eastralia and Northedge.
>>
>>74917555
I expected this complaint and I consider it absurd because right now, it's the absolute opposite case. For a bunch of aliens who spent hundreds of years trying to hasten the development of civilization, they did remarkably little and left almost no impact on the world, if current lore is anything to go by. I can't even come up with any reason for why the Westrasi worship them as fervently as they do because right now, there's almost no lore behind their intervention aside from "taught humans farming and metallurgy." There's no justification, and their importance is currently unearned and undeserved.

Before we start claiming about too much of the setting being impacted by Gloria-Etalia, we should start with having Gloria-Etalia actually impacting some parts of the setting. I'm not asking them to have a finger in every pie, but I would like at least a couple of pies to be fingered.
>>
>>74917708
Then the setting becomes just alien wank instead of people being people.

I'd strongly resist the urge to give any aspect dominance over the whole setting. Estralia is 1 kingdom, which is a bunch of opim addicts ruled by Westrasi so actually only NorthEdge would've have grown without alien influence and they are backwater vikings.

I don't know, community decides but I'd prefer if GE actual influence was minimal and now mostly over-ridden by the sands of time.
>>
>>74917763
I'm fine with "mostly over-ridden by the sands of time," but asking for the ancient aliens that the planet and the setting are named after to "have minimal influence" strikes me as a little odd. These are sci-fi aliens who had the entire world as their playground for centuries, they were bound to have left some significant marks. By now a lot of these might be irrelevant or mythological, but an impact was likely still made at some point in the distant past.
>>
>>74917763
Currently you claim the GE literally did nothing tho.

Them at least reintroducing metalworking, farming etc. Feels necessary. Maybe teach was actually returning when they were there, but once they left there was another collapse?
>>
>>74918072
But why would it take us 4.5k years to go from being magically handed down metallurgy to being able to make full plate armor when it was less than 2k years IRL earth?
>>
>>74918229
Rule of cool
Just like reason for lack of black gunpowder
>>
>>74918229
The tribes favored by Gloria were too reliant on the technology handed to them by their benefactors. Once that was taken away, it was back to square one and they didn't know what to do without it.
The tribes favored by Etalia were too competitive. The competing ideologies and religions that they were indoctrinated with drove them to constantly squabble with one another, which slowed technological growth.

Or if you'd rather leave it vague, the only answers are "it doesn't matter" and "rule of cool."
>>
>>74918229
Scientific advancement is a bit random. Keep in mind the Greeks invented steam engines and never did anything with it.

The Chinese invented Gunpowder and didn't do anything useful with it.

The people of GE could just have been a little bit less lucky with tech.

Also the presence of magic, fucks with technological progress.
>>
>>74918509
It is a bit random but aliens deliberately tried to fast pace it and yet somehow it ended up twice as slow as normal, y'see.
>>
>>74918840
In short, the aliens fucked up and accidentally created a bunch of stunted and regressive civilizations.
>>
There is a contradiction in the lore I think we need adressed:

> Thoughtcraft Commune lore claims
Thge Zephyr Mountains were the original home of the Hobgoblins

> Q-Fu Lore claims
Hobgoblins are are specifically bred hybrid race originally born from crossbreeding Qi-Fu humans and Oni.

There is also some contradictions with Goblin lore. Which route do we ant to go with Hobgoblins though?
>>
>>74919281
Qifu once had an empire that stretched to the mountains and thats were the afformentioned interbreeding happened.

The Mountains are like right there.

>>

>>
>>74919519

>>74919281
Maybe combine both ideas? Maybe they are resoult of paaguay-style race mixing to unite oni and humans enforced by one of Qi-Fu Dynasties in zephyr mountains?
>>
>>74919624
We can. Go write it.
>>
>>74919644
It's not even that contradictory

>A mortal offshoot of the demonicOni. The hobgoblins came about generations after the Oni began to sire mortal offspring with human beings. Each generation of hybrids became weaker and possessed less of the magical talent and raw power of their forebears. Since each of these descendants were born of a union with a slave it mattered little to the Oni. They began to breed their descendants selectively, aiming for specific traits in order to create armies they viewed as worthy to serve their goals. The end result however was something much more violent and resentful than they had anticipated. Generations of physical, mental and magical abuse and experimentation engendered a deep hatred in their slave army. After an extremely bloody revolution, in which many of the pure blooded Oni were slain, the soon to be dubbed "Hobgoblins" fled before any could be punished by the remaining Oni lords. In the generations to follow, the hobgoblin people would largely stay together, a common belief among them, even after all this time, is that if they were to separate from others of their kind, their old masters might hunt them down.

>Hobgoblinsin Qi-Fu are the carefully bred descendants ofoni-humanhybrids and vassal humans. Similar to other hobgoblins, many have fled servitude over the centuries, but large numbers still remain in Qi-Fu as law enforcers, shock troops, and body guards. Although technically many are slaves, they typically belong to large organizations like the military that treat them with respect. Lately, many have been shifting their loyalties to theoni cults, perhaps sensing thatonidomination of Qi-Fu is inevitable.

The Age of Flowers, also known as the long spring was a period of economic expansion and general peace across the Celestial Subcontinent Central Plains , Eastralia and Ram's Head beginning after the end of the Xin-On period and ending with the Tharsic Depression.

This growth saw the introduction of magical and technological items such as Tenkorian Candles and Magic Wands, the widespread use of the Uruz script and subsequent boosts in literacy and significant economic and cultural rises from the Celestial Empire, Ecinevian Leauge and Treant Empire.
>>
>>74921662
>Causes

The Magna Orde stabilized what for most of history had been a hotbed of war and bloodshed. As previous subsistence raiders ordered into a more stable governmental system economic productivty skyrocketed in the Central Plains.

When the Magna Orde Collapsed what was once a massive barrier between cultures in the east became a hotbed of cultural and economic mixing.

>Results

Treant magic flowed through vassals and acolytes and became popular in the Eastern Ordes and would influence Celestial Mysticism.

The Pelar and Bezel Khanates would inject races and cultures from the east and north deeper into the planes, leading to goblin and hobgolbin cousine, culture and literature spreading on the back of the Uruz Script.

The weakness of the Ordes led to the Celestial Empire to nearly unify the entire subcontinent. Emperor Ea-Chon and his successors focused on nation building and cultural supremacy instead of military conquest. The new Celestial Language bureaucracy and academies led to a technological and cultural revolution across what were formerly warring states .

The Ecivneian Leauge opened up new markets int he far east due to contact with Westerasi, and grew rich by trading and exporting the many technological , cultural and agriculture products that were booming to their west.

Qi-Fu saw their economic influence hit its peak as the new cultural stability saw markets open up for their export of Tarrow-Weed and Tarrow Weed enhanced livestock such as Fearoaches and Shadow Dolphins.
>>
>>74921711

>End

Tharsa's Dragon Heat causes massive destruction in the northern Great Plains and western Eastralia. This economic depression caused shock waves throughout the now unified global economy . Qi-Fu's economic weakness saw it fall in the Cape Wars to Belaria. The starvation and chaos in the Great Plains led to the Uruz Khanate to start its massive conquest. Tnz nationalism, as a counter response to the wider cultural blending of the age of flowers, began to rise alongside economic pressures. A Cold war began in Celestia between it and the dynastically related K'elle Orda.

Despite its end, the Age of Flowers stands as a major factor in the dawn of the Sixth Era. The military, cultural, magical and scientific achievements of this period would go on to define modern times.

Could we please not include Magic Wands, just like we didn't included gunpowder? Its not even something big, but i personaly hate wands, and since its fairy new lore, id plea to you to remove them. I don't want to this turn into another argument, but please, get rid of them.

Personally I like the historical stuff, it adds a lot of depth to the setting, but yeah, it needs to be carefully coordinated which often didn't happen, particularly early on in the project.
>>
>>74923059
We don't need "depth' we need to stay focused on whats important. Anything that hapened before 5k does not matter
>>
>>74922006
>Really? Well then it will have to be another thing i will have to swallow about the setting.
Just switch it to being a new, more useful variety of magic wand. Perhaps one that can be recharged by ritual rather than disintegrating once its charges have been spent (at a cost of the spells being a bit less strong).

>as i said earlier
Missed that; was skimming after having ISP problems for a day. And not sure I agree with your hate.

But I'd make wands difficult/expensive to come by if they're at all useful to an adventuring party. And/or extremely hazardous to use. (Don't use a wand of fireball in a small room! You certainly won't do it twice!)
>>
>>74923092
Magic Wands already date to the time period the age of flowers is set in, this is an expansion/connection of existing lore of the start of the sixth era. The wands, the Xin-On Era ending, the fall of the Magna Orde, the cultural mixing, the Tharsic depression, all that was pre established.

But its still completely irrelevent to the actual setting itself which is based in 5k, what we need is more work on fleshing out 5k, less histories and less stories. Focus on the presant, not the past
>>
>>74923242
>And not sure I agree with your hate
Im sure you wouldn't, because its completly irrational (one could say - autistic) kind of hate. But since its so old lore i dont even want to change it, its just something i have to accept and go one, so lets not dwell on it.
When it comes to balancing usage of wands, im sure what you propose is good idea

>>
>>74923388
... how is history irrelevant to the setting? I don't get it.

If you play D&D or Gurps you can mention historical events, or have historical pararells. You can have explanations of relations between nations or let players explore history if you want.

For the CK3 mod it helps develop De Jure kingdoms, duchies, etc. And interesting characters. Like you could make a random Duke a descendad of an expelled king mentioned in history.

For lore, you can take the historical tales and develop their consequences for the modern setting.
>>
>>74923467
Isn't Genderrym more peaceful now?
>>
>>74923526
Focus on what actually exists in 5k. If it doesn't exist in 5k then you shouldnt be writing about it. If you need to explain things then ok one or two lines but dont waste your time on more than that please, not when you could be writing about 5k stuf instead
>>
>>74923546
Right which is why I want to see more about the warlord age died down. It was fairly recent
>>
>>74923592
Maybe its spartan problem? No one is warlording now because most males died doing so?
>>
>>74923553
Ok, I got it you are a troll. Guess I had a little bit of hope in you being genuine.

You write 5k lore and everyone else can write lore they want. If you tell people to not write lore they want they won't write what you want for you. They will just stop writing shit.
>>
>>74923592
The simplest option is to have the warlords decide to do a big raid into Norvia only to hit a major Belaran fleet, who beat them (much potential for writefaggotry). Belarans being Belarans, they enslave as many as they can after the battles and the remains of the warlord fleet are perhaps still alive, toiling in Norvian mines. (Or perhaps not. The attrition rate is rather high.)
This sort of thing would be another reason why Norvia is so well fortified by Belara.
>>
>>74923630
You cant just accuse people that you disagree with of being trolls, I'm just telling the truth, history isnt important or relevent to the setting itself, when we actually play in this world, we will be playing in 5k, not in the past, so all that matters is what exists and happens in 5k
>>
>>74923614
Grenn isnt really patriarchal like that though.
>>
>>74923592
Maybe it's due to the Westerasi renessaince? As the Westerasi boats reached renessaince tier got giant crossbows, the Genderrym longboats were just outclassed to the point of uselessness when it came to naval warfare. Imagine them doing a raid and escaping with loot only for a Belaran Caravella catching up to them on the way back.
>>
>>74923736
>when we actually play in this world, we will be playing in 5k, not in the past, so all that matters is what exists and happens in 5k
Did you ever stop to think that these threads ARE the "playing" for a lot of us? Actual fun can be held in the setting without having to play in it in a separate game.

Writing history is fun. We are doing this for fun. Its not keeping you from writing what you like so stop tripping.

>The nation was originally made up of several small tribes who were fighting for dominance. It was very unstable, as whenever a chief died there would be fights over who would rule in turn. This escalated into several small scale civil wars between the tribes. However, as time went on the Jorden people realised that they would all die to the harsh northern climate if they kept fighting amongst each other. Thus the remaining tribes decided to join together into one tribe to survive. They named this tribe Grendarrym, from the words Grendar which means "Grand Whole or "Grand One", and Jarrym, which means "People". Thus the Grendarrym tribe, meaning One United Jorden, was born.

Is what we have so far.

One of the Grendarrym tribes willingly broke off and joined the Uruzatarr Khanate as a ploy for more power
>>
>>74923757
I dont see how my post was implying that. No matter the society, as long as its humans its males that create bulk of the army.
>>
>>74923833
Depending on how close the end of the warlard age was, this could be either someone salty that the age of inter tribal conquest ended since they felt they could have taken over the other tribes or someone who fetishists about "The OldWays" they never lived through and feels modern Gren culture has gone too soft
>>
>>74923808
Its distracting people from focusing on the important thing, which is 5k, barely anyone is writing about the actual focus on the project anymore, its all historical stuf and stories....

Then write for 5k??? Maybe some add-ons to World Scar lore. That's a bit barebones.

Maybe extra stuff for the Tnz'qran raiders? Except the Hte'Orde none are very fleshed out.

I don't think there is any other nations which need much more 5k lore?

Maybe a Thoughtcraft Commune overhaul?

Ok so the Gren poltical system I am digging.

They are run by a Chief and a Council of Women. The Council are all the female relatives of the last Chief alongside the oldest women in the nation as a Sage and Wisewoman.

Thing is, they don't pick the Chief, the old Chief does (or in his absence the oldest daughter of his family)

This seems to imply when a chief changes, the council changes over to his relatives, which is a cool way to have continuity .

So like what if the Vargen Khan started out as a relative to her chief, who was chosen by the last chief because he saw him as weak enough to be manipulated by his family once he retired and died.

Under the rule of her relative she grew disgusted with how he bent over backwards for other tribes and told them to cut down on overfishing and saw him as a failure to the honor of their tribe.

When he died and she got on the council the new chief (chosen as an ally of the old council regime to continue their influence even when out of office) assigned her a shitty strip of land because she was known as a firebrand asshole.

When Uruz started taking over nations she willingly joined with him so she with the Khanet forces could take over all of Grendarrym letting her rule the whole region anyway

Tell me about it...
I still stand by it, and belive we should focus first and formost on finishing stuff for PDF (what's on chilvampire list). Also if people hated inconsistent lore so much they would fix it, instead of just compalining about it. Just like terravia anon did.
>>
>>74924247
Terravia lore wasn't inconsistent. They just didn't like it.

A "yes and" approach to collaborative worldbuilding is the only one that works in this environment
>>
>>74924308
Terravia lore was AnComs smack dab in the middle of renessaince Europe
>>
>>74924343
Yeah and we have a robot and zombies in the same settings as kung fu nuns.

If you have a bit of lore set up you dont like, you can add onto it or flesh it out in an expanded way.

But we we open the door to anyone retconning what they dont like the entire thing falls apart.
>>
>>74924382
There were a fuckton of rewrites done before like Punaji or the HGA just last thread
>>
>>74924308
Yes, and its what i was taking about in my orginal post. While i worded it in bad way in og post, i belive that unless someone goes thought all the articles, creates tabs on inconsistent shit, and then goes and fixes it, there is no way to have consistency in the past.
>>
Could we give this thread a rest for few days? Give it time until weekend and then come back with better ideas?
>>
Okay then, time to sort out inconsistent information, starting with the one that started that argument in the first place.

When was the Treant Empire founded?
>>
>>74924450
I don't know if that is a good idea of we have no Discord, we need to stand ready if RadmirAnon needs some lore questions quickly answered for the CK3 mod. Same with GURPS Anon.

I was for weekly threads before, but that won't work for now.
>>
>>74924404
Punaji and HGA weren't rewrites for the sake of rewrites. I did my best to keep as many of the original ideas in place, while also respecting chillvamp's template, fixing bits that don't align well with old/new material, and incorporating ideas that were posted in 4chan but never made it to the wikia.
>>
>>74924503
>People figured out that im the one making ck3 mod
Huh i wasn't expecting that turn of events. What gave it away if i can ask?
>>
>>74924578
Neither was the Terravia rewrite, but OK
>>
>>74924407
I mean, that shouldnt be hard to do. The only major inconsistencies were with Celestia and thats been mostly ironed out.
>>
>>74924606
You said that you are gonna use the Radmir map instead of height map for the Radmir region because I quote "I made the Radmir map first."
>>
>>74924481
We don't know, though it was at its height during early Antiquity, since it was at its largest during 1350.
>>
>>74924666
That's a little weird, because they learned about empires from a high-ranking explorer from the Celestia region, which didn't have an empire at the time. So, I propose one of the following:
>Delay the formation of the Treant Empire to a later date that makes more sense.
>Have the treants learn about empires from another state, like the Tnz'qran.
>Scrap the "learning about empires from outsiders" lore altogether.
>>
>>74924666
Problem is there were 2 'Treat Empires" the angry expanding trees and then when they turned into a nation.

So they kinda have 2 dates of starting to exist.
>>
>>74924644
Oh yeah, now i remember i did that. I honestly forgot about that exchange.
I tried to separate rest of my works from ck3 mod since i feel like it should be made by someone with a degree of separation from daily goings of thread, and in spirit of objectivity, so most people can enjoi it. Well turns out i fell flat on that one, atleast on the first part.
>>
>>74924771
So, at what point where they angry expanding trees and at what point did they become a nation, since we need two dates? Were they always angry expanding trees, or was that only learned when they discovered empires existed from that explorer? Did they form their empire when they met that explorer, or later?
>>
>>74924777
Nobody cares. It's all fine.
It was obvious from the start that no newfag came from nowwhere, read all the lore and the volunteered to make a mod.
>>
>>74924761
Maybe there are two treants "state" entities.
First one existed since unknown date during age of colapse until formation of treant empire as we knows it, and was responsible for war of fire rose.
Second one is treant empire we all know from present. It could be founded basing on some people captured during the war, or post travelers. Someone else can fill in the blanks.
>>
>>74924615
I haven't read the Terravia rewrites yet so I won't know

>>74924481
Sometime before 1200. People were operating off of four different timelines back then. The Treant Empire founding date got retconned because it was the hardest to reconcile with the other three timelines, plus the easiest to change.
>>
>>74924884
Lost*, not post
>>
>>74924884
I think the war of the Fire Rose with already the 2nd one. They became a state from initial diplomacy with the Celestial Empire.
>>

Like Souxi, Dan, and Dao
>>

As the author of >>74923700 I'm quite thoroughly cool with Belara having giant arbalests mounted on their ships, or even catapults or mangonels or even a magic version of cannon. Belara absolutely has the top naval technology on the planet (except for in matters fire related where that honor goes to Ecinev) though that edge is not enough to allow a safe invasion of Morloux, in part because the capital of the latter is inland (though on a substantial river).
