/tg/ - Traditional Games

Hello, i’ve noticed a trend of a random nerd being thrown into the Warhammer 40K setting. Having been inspired by the most recent story of a nerd becoming a Necron Lord, I want to cash in on this trend, I hope you enjoy.
>be me, be random nerd who loves 40k lore.
>I most things about the fluff, from the War in Heaven, to return of the Big Blue Bureaucrat (or the Big Blue Bastard.)
>But now, it’s time to go to sleep, if I can.
>Wake up to an entirely new perspective.
>>
>>78580874
>Everything is different, my body feels... heavier, but my senses are greater then ever
>I surrounded by what seems to be pseudo Gothic Architecture, coupled by numerous cables around me, and with the slight humming of machines close by.
>This feels like something straight out of Warhammer...wait...
>Before I could ponder on that idea, some suddenly spoke up.
>”Who goes there?”
>It sounded like it came from “my” viewpoint, but there were nobody I could see, then “my” head moved on its own.
>It move to one side, to the other, as if it was scanning for something.
>I don’t think I’m in control.
>>
>>78581763
>”...Who goes there?” the voice asked again
>Said voice was loud and pronounced, a voice that somehow, drew you attention.
>Even if I could answer it, how and what do I respond with?
>It was then I heard heavy thuds from somewhere, something large was coming my way.
>Then I heard what sounded like a door opening and the heavy thudding drew near.
>”My” body was completely still, I couldn’t even move a muscle, or anything for that matter.
>Then what was making the heaving thudding came into view, and I instantly recognized it.
>I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, it was an Apothecary, a real Apothecary.
>>
>"WOW, A REAL APOTHECARY JUST LIKE IN MY BOARDGAME" the Apothecary said sarcastically
>In response I start shitting myself and crying everywhere
>How DARE he mock me the best person in the universe
>I bend over towards him and aim the shit right into his face, melting him instantly
>With my job done I return to my own universe and use the vast amount of knowledge I gained in the 40k universe to form the Pan Earth New International Society
The End
>>
>>78582158
>It was surreal, everything about this was unreal, I needed to process all of this.
>“Ah, you are awoke, Kyrus.” As the Apothecary looks at “me.”
>Kyrus... who the fuck is Kyrus?! My name is-
>”Greetings, Apothecary, how go the subjugation?” Asked the voice
>”Splendid, by your efforts, the planet shall be in Imperial Compliance in mere hours.”
>“Good... Apothecary, is there anyone else here?”
>“...There is no one here besides you.” The Apothecary said with slight confusion
>I have rush of emotions flooding me, and so many questions, but I decide to watch and see what happens.
>”That it is again, the voice!” wait... can he hear me?
>”You took quite the injury, you had to carried away in the middle of a fire fight, perhaps it is your subconscious?”
>Yeah, sure, let’s go with that.
>”I keep hearing it.”
>”Well, you’re fully healed, and it’s time to return to the Great Crusade.”
>I decided to stay quiet for the mean time.

>”I”... well Kyrus, stands up from the Apothecary’s table and inhales deeply.
>It seemed to calm his mind, as it allows him to focus greatly.
>he turns to the Apothecary and says ”Thank you for your service.”
>”I am merely doing my part, praise the Emperor.”
>”Praise the Emperor.”
>Kyrus walks out of the Apothecarium and down a corridor.
>He makes several turns before arriving to a great door, with the seal of the Mechanicus, a good guess would be the Armory.
>The door opened for Kyrus and he was greeted by the sound of heavy machinery and Tech-Marines going about their business, until one of them looks over to see Kyrus standing in the doorway.
>“Kyrus, it is good to see you healed, Brother!” He greets Kyrus warmly
>“Hello, Talvek, is my armor ready?” Kyrus responds back with a smile
>”Indeed, we just finished repairing it.”
>Talvek leads Kyrus to where his Mark III Power Armor rests and begins to don his armor.
>>
Nice stuff so far. Are you planning to use anon to convince the marine to stay loyal?
>>
>>78584920
I’m planning them to stop the Horus Heresy, or at least stop the downfall of the Legion. By what means, is yet to be revealed.
>>
>>78583810
>Kyrus, now in his Power Armor, stood tall and better then ever.
>”Thank you, Talvek.”
>”Your welcome, Brother.”
>I’ve been keeping quiet for all of this time, just processing what’s been happening as we go, so let’s do a little rundown.
>I fell asleep, then woke up in the Warhammer universe, not great so far.
>I’m in the body of some guy named, Kyrus, also not great.
>The Apothecary mentioned the Great Crusade, so Kyrus, and the other guys are Legionnaires.
>Judging by their heraldry, a Flaming Book, those guys are likely Word Bearers...
>I really hit rock bottom, haven’t I?
>Kyrus was scanning around the Armory, his eyes twitch every now and again, as if looking for something.
>”...Are you alright, Kyrus?” Talvek says with concern
>”I-it is nothing, Brother, I just keep hearing this voice since I recovered.”
>”Oh, what does the Apothecary said of this?”
>”He said it may be my subconscious talking to me.”
>”Peculiar... but you should rest for now.”
>”I believe your right, some training could help.”
>”That’s the spirit!” Talvek said enthusiastically
>>
>>78585561
This will be the last thing I’ll add, I will continue with this story, if it doesn’t die by tomorrow.

>Kyrus exits the Armory, with armor and weapons for in tow, he walks throughout the complex.
>He walks for a little while, before arriving at a much less ostentatious door then the Armory’s.
>He then puts in a number code into keypad, adjacent to the door, and it opens.
>This is likely his private quarters, as he steps in, he turns and looks at a mirror.
>I then thought of something, I haven’t actually introduce myself.
>He’s already aware of presence, and now being alone, this seems like the perfect time.
>”...ummm H-hello?”
>Kyrus was shocked to hear the voice in such a clear manner, looking around to see who it was, before I was just whispers at the back of his mind.
>”Show yourself!” Kyrus shouted
>”Now don’t be alarmed, I’m just as confused as you are.
>”Identify yourself!” Kyrus was slightly unhinged at this predicament.
>”My name is-... my name is-..! I-I can’t say my name!”
>”What nonsense is that?!”
>”Look, all I know is that I fell asleep, and woke in your head.”
>”That is utterly preposterous.”
>”You took the words right out of my- er... metaphorical mouth, otherwise, that’s the truth.”
>Not going to tell Kyrus where I’m “actually” from.
>”But hey, how about some introductions, shall we?”
>>

>”Alright then-wait... did you just said “Imperial Heralds?” He said with astonishment and shock
>”I did, what of it?”
>”As in the XVII Legion of the Legiones Astartes?”
>”Oh, so you heard of us?”
>Holy shit, this is before Lorgar was founded, before... the Horus...
>I pick myself up before my mind starts to trail off.
>”...Quick, tell me the date!”
>”It is 900:M30.” Kyrus did not understood the purpose of this request, but he complied.
>”This is really is before everything, before...”
>”Before what, and who is this “Lorgar,” you spoke of?”
>So I’m really am here, this isn’t some bad dream, that I’m going wake up from.

>He caught me off guard, but I quickly reorganize.
>”My name is... my name is... w-why can’t I say my own name?!”
>Kyrus, aware of my delirious status, interjects.
>”What are you anyway, some “Ghost in the Shell?” He continued
>”Further more, I don’t quite understand who or what you are, but I had enough of this!”
>”Look... I don’t know how to fully explain this, but...”
>Should I tell him, about Lorgar, and what is to come?”
>Fuck it, I’m going to tell him the truth, I don’t have anything to lose.
>But let’s put into words he’ll understand.
>”You know, I can still hear you.”

>”I am... a human being from the past.”
>”...What?” was the Kyrus could muster up
>”I’m from the 3rd Millennium and have somehow, brought here into your mind.”
>Kyrus stood in complete silence for several minutes before responding.
>”You are... you lived before the ascension of the Emperor?”
>”Yes.” that was the best I could come up with.
>”...Do you expect me to believe anything that you have said?” He said with clear skepticism and denial.
>”But I know what you are, you are some daemon that has intruded my mind, and poisoning my very soul with your presence.”
>”I’m not a- wait.” by Warhammer standards, that is the closest thing to what I am right now.
>”Listen, I know this is difficult to comprehend, but I’m telling the truth!” not doing a good job of convincing him, aren’t I?
>He calmed down a bit before continuing and let out a soft chuckle.
>”Fine, I shall entertain this notion with logic, what use are you to me?
>”Knowledge.” I said almost immediately
>”Oh, what kind of knowledge?”
>There was a lot of things I could tell him, however, there is one thing I can do to get his attention.

>”...Are you some seer who can see the future, I have embraced the Imperial Truth, and we have done away with such primitive superstitions!”
>His behavior was expected, I couldn’t tell him about “them,” not at this moment. But I continue to press on.
>”His name is Lorgar Aurelian, he resides on the planet of Colchis, and he is to be found 57 standard Terran years from now.”
>Kyrus pondered on this greatly, if what this “Ghost” says is true, he may be able to reunite the Primarch with the Legion early. That was priority that every Legionnaire starved for.
>”If this what you said is true, what more do you know?”
>”Is this a sign of acknowledgment and trust?”
>”Acknowledgement, yes. Trust... let’s see how much of use you’re truly are and we’ll go from there.”
>”Good enough for me.”
>I’m just glad he isn’t calling me a daemon, and starting to believe me.
>”Oh, one more thing, I never got your name.”
>”Well here’s the thing, I can’t seem to say it.” this fact has been bothering me.
>”Well that’s a bother, how about a new name?”
>I never thought of that, I guess new life, new name.
>”You called me a “Ghost in the Shell,” so how about Ghost?
>”Ghost... that will be a decent place holder, before we can think of a proper name for you.”

That does raise the question how would Anons soul be affected by the presence of the emperor... would it burn away like a daemon, or materialize?

>>78593378
It also does raise the question how much control might anon have over any machine spirits (or AI for that matter)? Could he temporarily override them or flat out hijack them from its controller?

He probably is immune to chaos if he knows about their ways, maybe he could protect others from its touch?

>He opens the door and sees another Legionnaire, as he salutes, Kyrus crosses his arms.
>”What is it, Lieutenant?”
>”I heard you have recovered.” the Lieutenant sounds a lot younger then Kyrus.
>”Did you believe otherwise?” retorted Kyrus with an eyebrow raise.
>”No, I am only relieved to confirm it with my own eyes.” he continues
>”I don’t mean to pry, but, what was with the shouting?”
>Please don’t tell me you’re going to spill the beans on me?

>”Wait... everything?”
>”No, just where is the Primarch, is all I desire.”
>”I don’t think you should mess with important events like that.” I’ll try and steer away the conversation.
>”Why not, reuniting with the Primarch is our top priority.”

Best he could do os go to the emperor, st least do better with Angron (since he hasn’t been found yet) and the last view Primarchs as well as working better with the ones wlready therer (apologizing snd working out the resentment Mortarian has, getting rid of Fulgrims blade, talking to Pert about his feelings, tell them about Chaos, etc.). And at least tell him to do more work with choosing who wouod be warmaster, or even just to slowly get everyone into roles as some war council in asuch a way that they don’t step on each others toes and still get the crusade done. Maybe also get Pert and Magnus to come meet Lorgar and talk him out of his faith, since Pert successfully debated against religion on his own.

Plus at least kill Eribus. With brutal prejudice.

>”Due to Lorgar’s seclusion after Monarchia, Erebus used the opportunity to introduce him to Chaos, and the rest goes downhill from there.”
>”I still can’t believe the Primarch’s obsession with religion, it stands against everything we and the Emperor has worked for.”
>”That was one of the reasons why he fall from grace, so this is what I’m thinking.”
>”If it entails becoming a thrall to Chaos then I’m-
>”No, not at all, you need to be of high enough rank to influence Lorgar’s decisions firstly.”
>”Secondly, you MUST get rid of Erebus and Kor Phearon, they were the ones who damned the Imperium.”
>”Thirdly, we can help out in what we can, as long as we don’t arouse suspicion ad that’s the best case scenario.
>”What’s the worst case?”
>”The Horus Hersey still happens, we’ll try to recruit as many uncorrupted warriors, and hope for the best.”
>Kyrus gets up from his seat and breathes deeply.
>”...I don’t know what you are, or what purpose you are here for, but it would be folly to disregard your forewarnings.” He continued
>”Even with this grim knowledge of the future, I shall carry forward, for I know no fear.”
>”...Well said, now where to go next?”
>”Off to greet my Company, we have long road ahead of us, so must stay vigilant at all times.”

And even they are caught, make it look like incompetence, and when they get fired the arcotech would get them some friends elsewhere so they'll be fine.
Then Largar os all Kyrus’s
And if he ever meets Pertarabo, learn from him how to debate theology, to slowly wean Lorgar off religion.

>The ships of the II Legion finally land on the planet, and as the Imperial Heralds broad it, Kyrus made sure that everything was secured. For he was one of the last to broad.
>As I watch all of this happen, I’m finally accepting the fact that I may never return to my era, and I’ve already committed myself to this endeavor.
>Even if it means going against Chaos Gods or the Imperium, there’s no turning back, like there is a way back.
>Kyrus Company are now filing in, double checking their supplies and such.
>The Legion forces here are a bit small, but this is early in the Great Crusade, so I guess they didn’t many to deploy on the field.
>In the meantime, Kyrus does some administrative work, and heads to the upper levels of the ship.
>”So, what’s next on the agenda?” I ask
>”I’m meeting with the other Company Commanders about the mission, then inform the Chapter Commander of our performance, and rendezvous with the rest of the Legion on Terra.”
>”W-wait, were going to Terra?” my first thought was getting found out on Terra by Malcador or Big E
>“First of all, do not regard the Emperor in such a manner, but we are going to Terra.” he continued
>”I perhaps failed to mentioned that this was a training exercise, a way to discern the Legion’s capabilities, that is the reason we have a select number of Legionnaires.”

>”How come you didn’t tell me beforehand?”

>Better think of something else to talk about.
>”So.. about the speech earlier, amazing by the way, but there was one thing about it that’s been bugging me.”
>”What is it?”
>”You mentioned “God-Emperor” and I thought you guys were all for the Imperial Truth.”
>”I wanted to bite my tongue when I said that, but I must say it in all official proceedings, and that includes speeches.”
>Looking back at the speech, it was charismatic enough and surprisingly human, much like how Lorgar convinced worlds to join the Imperium.
>”Now we’re almost to the meeting room, so stay quiet.”
>We arrive to a guarded chamber, located near the bridge, the guards salute Kyrus and open the chamber door for him.
>As he steps in and the door closes behind him, four others look to towards to Kyrus, while being surrounded by data panels.
>”Ah, Kyrus, you arrived just in time!” said a Legionnaire joyfully.
>”You don’t have to shout, Tael’vos.”

>The five Company Commanders talked for hours, going over every detail of mission, never leaving a single stone unturned.
>They finally wrap the meeting, with a small closing.
>”Now I believe this report for the Chapter Commander will be sufficient, and besides Kyrus’ incident, this mission was a smooth success.”
>”Must you remind me, Brother Tael’vos?” he says with a groan.
>”Come now, stop being so formal, we’re all equals.”
>”Live him alone, Tael’vos.” the same Legionnaire that reprimanded him before, spoke up.
>”Don’t be so uptight, Ordem.” Tael’vos slightly pouts
>Locke looks about had it with this and wants to get out.
>”Brothers, let us adjourn this meeting.” the quietest member of this meeting speaks up.
>The five agree in silence and exits the chamber.
>I metaphorical fell asleep during that meeting, only really paying attention at the end.
>”That Tael’vos guy is… weird and what about the quiet one?”
>”Tael’vos can overtly friendly, but he’s means well, and the quiet one is Eira.” he continued
>”Eira is reclusive, but fervently loyal to the Imperial Truth.”
>Well that’s not surprising.
>We walk for some time, before stopping at our quarters, Kyrus takes a small detour.
>”I have something to show you, I believe you’d appreciate it.”
>”Where are we going?”
>”You’ll see.”
>He walks for an hour, enters into another part of loading dock, and steps into a small sub-room.
>He pushes a button to reveal a window into space, and what I see, was something I couldn’t think I felt longing for…Earth.

>”What was it like, I couldn’t imagine a society with out the Emperor?” he says with clear curiosity.
>”…It was a lot more greener, oceans as deep as the color blue, and home to many different cultures.” that was the best brief summary I could give him.
>”Fascinating, utterly fascinating, I must asks more once we land on Terra.” he said while staring at the planet as well.
>”This has been a productive week and more plans must be made to get the Legion in order.”
>”Quite so-wait, how long was the meeting?”
>”6 days.” he said like it was nothing
>”6 days, you guys were talking for 6 fucking days?!”
>”The Chapter Commander wanted a thorough report of our mission and we made sure to give him one.” he sounded slightly proud of himself, as he nearly got snuffed out.
>”Yeah, ok then, let’s just rest until we get to Terra.”

>Before I could day dream any further, a loud as shit alarm went off.
>”Looks like we’re about to land, alright everyone, you know the drill.”
>Kyrus’ Company immediately starts to get everything settled for their arrival to Terra.
>Kyrus, followed by Lieutenant Cesare, enter the loading dock with the rest of the Company Commanders and Officers.
>As the more people file in, they get into formation, with Kyrus at the front of his contingent and the standard held high.
>The ship quaked as we enter Terra’s (remaining) atmosphere, some losing balance, it continued for some time. But it halted quickly and the ship laid still.
>Suddenly, the gates of loading dock open, while the hissing sound of depressurized air can be heard.

>He finally arrives at his master’s chamber, with one knee on the ground and shaking from exhaustion, the doors to HIS private study open.
>”You are in great distress, what ails you, friend?” the Emperor says helping Malcador help on his feet.
>”My liege, I have something urgent to show you, for your eyes only.” Malcador trembles, as forces the words out.

>That last bit was directed at Kyrus.
>”You were able to discern the strengths and weaknesses of the Chapter, as well as the Legion, as a whole.
“Before I continue, does anybody has any questions?” they all stayed silent, he nods and proceeds to speak
>”While we are able to field an adequate number of Legionnaires, we lack vehicle and fire support, and they are paramount if we are to spread the Emperor’s Truth.”
“That is why I am requesting two more companies to be added to the Chapter.”
“Sir.” Locke says curtly
“What is it, Commander Locke?”
“Will the number of companies increase, as the Great Crusade progresses?”
>Virgo gives Locke an annoyed look.
>”Are you asking because you fear for your rank, but to answer your question, yes?”
>That shuts him up.
>”As I was saying, these two companies shall fulfill the roles of mobile batteries and heavy equipment transports, this report shall be sent to the rest of the Legion and should minimize any weaknesses that may appear in the future.
>”Oi, Virgo, I got a question.”
>Virgo looks even more pissed off then he was before.

As you grow into a proper soldier, to embrace the Imperial Truth, you must set aside everything and pure yourself to the image set by the Emperor. However, their is a line, a thin border that teeters between fealty and treachery. So one must find an equilibrium, and stay on that course, no matter what. This may frighten your hearts and darken your mind, but know this, you shape yourselves. Your future is yours to mold, your past means nothing, and the present is yours to command! So I exclaim again, temperance, is the key to upholding such image.”

The command staff appear a little... to human? I'm guessing that their indoctrination is a little on the light side compared to the usual? I can't imagine a commander showing such blatant disrespect to his commander nor his commander accepting it and actually stuttering to boot.

Also, Kyrus is remarkably trusting of Anon when Anon has not really provided any actual evidence to back up what he's saying. Kyrus appears to just accept what's being said to him. If there was a post where he was able to prove he is who he says he is, I may have missed it.

>A few months after the Indoctrination Hall seminar, Kyrus and his Brother Commanders, were called by Chapter Commander Virgo for another meeting.
>In other news, the rediscovery of Horus is made public, and he is set to take command of his Legion.
>So we return to the Amphitheater, where two newcomers, and Virgo awaits.
>”Greetings, Commanders, I’ve called you here for today is a joyous occasion.” he says with a slight smirk, a contrast to his usual stoic demeanor.
>”Before I start, I’ll like you to meet our two newest Commanders, Xenophon and Alexandros.”
>“Greetings, Brothers.” Xenophon says with a peculiar accent.
>”Salutations, I am exuberant to be working with you all.” Alexandros says enthusiastically.
>”There’s no need to be so formal, Brothers!” Tael’vos says warmly, while shouting over.
>”Contain yourself, Commander.” I think Virgo popped a blood vessel
>”Now then, as I was saying…”
>”All of our efforts have come to fruition, for the Legion is now ready to journey across the stars, and spread the Emperor’s Word.”
>”Finally, about bloody time.” Tael’vos says it unintentionally callously.

>”Sir, I have a question.” Ordem raises his hand
>”Yes, Commander Ordem?”
>”Why are the other Legions accompanying us?”
>”Those are small remnants that were left behind because they didn’t had the necessary strength at the time, they requested to join us until they rendezvous with their respective Legions.”
>”Any more questions?”
>The seven were quiet.
>”I’ll take your silence as no, if so, then you are dismissed. Praise the Emperor!”
>”Praise the Emperor!” the seven say in unison.
>While the Commanders proceed to exit, Tael’vos wraps his arms over Xenophon and Alexandros.

>”Hey, Kyrus, I have a few questions.”
>”What is it, Ghost?”
>”I forget to ask before, but, why was Tael’vos so causal with the Chapter Commander?”
>”Well to start off, Tael’vos is the most senior out of all of us.
>”So that’s makes him the de facto, second-in-command.”
>”Quite so, those two were comrades since the Unification Wars, and they have been through thick and thin together.
>”The over-friendly nature of Tael’vos doesn’t allow him to see rank, he sees a friend, and he is able unravel the Chapter Commander’s normally cold posterior.”

>”That’s good and all, but, when did you start trust me?”
>Kyrus thought about an answer for a while, as he stayed quiet for hours.
>”Do you remember the conversation we had about old Terran vehicles?” this took me by surprise, what is he leading to?
>”Does it had to do with your past?”
>I can fell his throat drying, the growing anger, and the clenching of his fists.
>I think I hit the bullseye a little too well.
>”What I’m about to tell you, must never be revealed to no one.” he said with a low voice
>”Before the rise of the Emperor, my family lived as seers, fortune tellers, and prophets.”
>”We all had this gift, and my mother was a powerful seeress, and she helped see a vision.”
>”What I saw… was eerily similar to what you told me, a galaxy ablaze.”
>”I didn’t think much of it at the time, however one day, the Sigillite and the black armored, skull-faced Legionnaires came to our doorstep.”

>”That would explain why are were able to see the vision and how I got into your mind.”
>”Could that be why the Sigillite inducted me into the Legion?”
>”Possibly, I won’t put it past him.”
>Kyrus took a deep breath, this calmed his mind, and me at the same time.

The Imperial Heralds would send a single Legionnaire with black armor, skull-faced helms, and an eagle shaped maces; to settlements to spread the Emperor’s Word. Though the idea of the Chaplains, did come from the Word Bearers, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the inspiration.

Look, I'm all for nurturing and protecting this new wave of actual content on tg, but you have to admit that even if you just compare cryptek and orator posts, the former has written way more than the latter.
It feels qay more fair and fitting to compare him to cupanon, especially giving how much more focused on the Imperium the story is, although treating it as it's own thing would be better.

Do it at your own pace Orator-Anon, if you try to rush things, it will only degrade in quality.
>>
>>78736240
it is true than with crypteks threads there are more contributors but its mainly that with necrons their lore is detailed yes but cryptek's works with essentally a blank slate that can take pieces from the canon lore.

With orator's story it about the imperium which has a ton of lore ontop of another ton of lore making it so if you wanted to contribute while making sure to not break lore.

For instance if someone took control of Alpharius or Omegon they would have to refer to the character's lore and aspirations during this time and how they would react to a situation.
Then you have to process what they would be doing with a lore bound scale for the story and since Orator hasn't introduced any radical changes or events, there's no room to introduce unique characters for subplots.

In the future I feel orator will introduce such events but, he seems to be proceeding with a careful approach to his story so the introduction for subplot isn't viable at this stage.
unless you wanted to try and do troll subplot by introducing challenges for orator in his story.
