Summary: The world is as of now a pure fantasy setting. Things in the north are nice, things in the south are less nice. We're not adding manpreg island no matter how much you ask, feel free to add other stuff and flesh out other things.

rules are (as of right now):

>be nice
>don't fuck up other people's lore
>don't add new landmasses
>no fetishes/coomershit
>don't sperg out if people don't accept or like your lore/additions

In the middle of the Corteau Canyon lies a settlement called Rögnarey where the amazonian barbarian tribe of the Norskyries lives. The Norskyries have developed a special form of fighting in which they weave axe blades into their long braids of hair and attack their opponents or their prey with rotating movements similar to ballet pirouettes to inflict severe flesh wounds. They refer to this style of fighting as the Meat Cutter Dance. This technique is made possible by their extremely hard and resilient necks aswell a their superhumanly strong musculature and body tension. They are said to have descended from the primordial nordic godmother Freygga.

Could be? Although the old OP didn't paint it in the map so I left it as is.

What's up with the corteau canyon anyways? The whole of zemyland is cold taiga/tundra, while the canyon is a sand desert where corals exist, from a time when it was submerged underwater. Maybe despite it being a sand desert, it's actually a cold one, and the sand was created due to erosion?

And the aridness of the land is explained by the mountains that surround the canyon. And the empty land in the middle could actually be a plateau where it's actually snowy. I'm just trying to make sense out of this mess.
>>
>>84963250
Thing is, if the drunigs needed to expand outwards in search of colonies, there's no way they'd ignore the island there's right in front of their kingdom.

What's the military powelrevel of the nations we have so far. What are the alliances? What strategies, troops and siege engines does each one use for combat?
>>
>>84963250
>Maybe despite it being a sand desert, it's actually a cold one, and the sand was created due to erosion?
I mean, according to the biome map, it's high enough to have a mountainous biome, plus the center of the canyon is so isolated it's either a freezing desert of a massive glaciar there. Either that or it could be a massive freezing plain of salt, from the days it was underwater.

>>84963250
>What's up with the corteau canyon anyways
It's a former part of the ocean that either dryed up or got disconnected from the Okhelian ocean due to plate tectonics a long time ago. It's basically a canyon of dryed up and petrified corals and the white sand is a mixture of crushed corals, salt and remains of fish bones of former sea creatures. You could call it a desert, but it is a cold one and the fact that there is no snow has something to do with the high salt content of the soil

I'd say we should redcon the Human sized scarabs that live there and replace them with something more fitting for a cold climate since they kinda kill the aesthetic. The centipedes are cool in my book
>>
>>84963203
Also they dwarf the average human fighter by being up to twice the size in height

>>
>>84963408
>>84963377
>>84963386
what about this

"Human sized centipedes and wooly scarabs roam the desert canyon, suited for the cold climate of the canyon, acting as scavengers and providing each other with the food and moisture that's needed to survive.

Even though the canyon is covered by a blanket of sand due to the erosion of the rocks and the corals, the climate is actually sub-arctic, the nights being particularly freezing. Despite that, snow and rain rarely fall on Corteau, with a small exception of the mountains and plateaus near the center of the canyon, where the Norskyrie amazons live."
>>
>>84963408
>>84963386
Seconding the wolly rhino beetle option.
>>

>>
>>84963469
Personally I don't mind adding them as smaller fauna for the Canyon. Maybe they could live in the Coral caves. I wouldn't add much more though in order to not spoil the general aesthetics of a sparsely populated desert canyon. So should we settle on barbegazi for caves, giant woolly centipedes as predators, rhino beetles that live in large herds protecting against the centipedes and maybe one behemoth like omnivorous hercules beetle (about three times the size of the already giant rhino beetles) that roams the canyon as an aphex predator in search for food and a mate?

North of the Fungest is the Crag Island. An aptly named island, full of deep, cavernous valleys, steep cliffs and underground rivers. Toxic pools that release deadly fumes form in the bottom of the valleys, making the majority of this alien island inhospitable.

A species of simians makes its home in the Crag, something between a baboon and a macaque. They mostly walk on four, although when fighting with swords and other weapons that they scavenge they can stand on two legs and fight. They are extremely territorial and attack anyone who gets close to their homes, which are built close to caves and trees near the poison pools at the bottom of the valleys.

These apes worship a serpent-like god. A journal from a Gvilder trading cog that mistakenly landed on the shores of the Crag details that there's a giant ape amongst the other simians, three times their size. It wields the log of a large tree as a weapon and it has a tattoo of a serpent on its back and chest.

South of the Oront Mountains there's an inhabited land, empty of civilization for many years. This area is the only place in the world where the infamous great giant magpies breed and nest. This violent species of bird are the size of a small adult man, and in general they are peaceful creatures and intelligent creatures. However, once a year the magpies migrate from all corners of the Giantstep continent to mate and nest at this specific point in the land. Nobody really knows why this is the only spot where they reproduce, but regardless of the reason, during mating season this birds abandon their peaceful ways to become extraordinarily violent and dangerous. Any creature big enough to pose a threat is mercilessly butchered, their remains put in the open as a warning to any other intruders. This includes not only humans, but also regular local fauna and even herd animals. Every structure that was built in the area will be torn down to pieces, and only the strongest stone reinforced with repellent magic will be able to keep them at bay. And even then, that's only a temporary solution, as the magpies will wait for the inhabitants to come out, effectively sieging them until starvation and death. Thus, the populations of the area live in underground lairs, remaining most of the year preparing and hoarding their resources for the months of breeding and nesting they'll have to stay below ground. This also includes their cattle, which is composed of a combination of sheep and farm worms the size of pigs. Due to the inability to fight off the magpies, no nation currently has any interest in occupying the land.

The Lotus Islands are home to a rare variety of black lotus flowers that exude a powerfully intoxicating scent that induces an opium-like effect on anyone who smells it. When the flowers of the plant are eaten or drunk as a tea, the effect is even more powerful and can be compared to an ecstasy ten times the intensity of pure heroin. Due to the irresistible and highly addictive nature of these plants, no one who has set foot on the island has ever left. The inhabitants of the island are called the Loutus eaters, they do nothing else all day but get high on the flowers and lie around blissfully. Apart from the incredibly strong physical and mental dependence development, the consumption of these plants has no negative side effects.

Here lies an impenetrable thicket of mighty black thorn tendrils. What lies within is unknown, as no one who entered the Thornwood has ever returned. Many have tried to burn the thicket, but the seemingly dry thorn bush has proven to be extremely heat-resistant. Up to three adult horses can be impaled on the larger thorns of this undergrowth.

On the Uckerath mountains there are seven castles. They are ruled by vengeful barons and baronesses who are at war with each other and who send their Landsknechte against each other every day. The amphibious water folk of the Pondlings live on two different islands in the Northern Sea. The females (also called Nixes) are human sized frog creatures, usually inhabiting a lake, river or coast the males (also called Vodniks) only live in mill ponds and are the patriarchal rulers of the society. The Pondling cities are located at the bottom of lakes or rivers and consist of several floors. They use silt, driftwood, and seaweed to construct them. The females of the species are restless and constantly busy, while the males are very lazy and spend most of the day smoking marshweed. When angered, the males as well as the females break dams, wash down water mills or drown people and animals. Consequently, fishermen, seamen and millers make sacrifices to appease the Pondlings. The male Pondlings will sometimes drag people down to their underwater dwellings to serve them as slaves. In order for the slaves to be able to breathe underwater, they are fed a special type of algae called gillweed. The female pondlings have exceptionally muscular lower legs and calves, and can easily snap a rib cage with a kick of their webbed frog legs. The males are polygamous and each one has a harem of females whose size depends on its authority, which is measured by his behavior the quality of his marshweed and the length of his fishtail. The females return to their home pond once a year to lay their spawn

The island of Nerega lies east of the Red Pirate temple of Kunt. Even though it was under the Republic of Vilga before their annexation by Avangar, they saw little use of occupying it, instead only building a big lighthouse to guide the way for sailing ships.

Also built by the Vilgans was a small naval base at the southern point of the island, inside an isolated cove which lies within the shelter of a dark cavern worn into the cliffs by the relentless ocean. The base was converted into a prison, and after the war it was subsequently abandoned.

Although the Vilgans have abandoned it, its now overrun by former inmates, pirates from Kunt and also smugglers and corsairs of the Quamona Tong, the driving faction of the Vilgan resistance against Avangar, sailing back and forth between Nerega and their base in Zeresh.

This thriving, bustling town full of pirates and other scroundrels is now appropriately called the "Dreaded Wharf". Many dangerous creatures and animals can be found in the markets of the Dreaded Wharf. One such creature are the Stalkers, also nicknamed "the Spider Monkey". Although deadly, they can follow the orders of their master, like a trained hound would. They have unusually long and strong arms and hate sunlight, often lurking in the shadows in order to ambush their prey. It's said that they were created by a shadowbinder in Alga, their distribution made illegal everywhere else in the east.

So, with the physical and biome map near completion and the political map finallyfilled, we need to see what else we need to do:

-Political map with cities, nation's capitals, main roads and trade routes. Most nations and regions have little to no cities located on the map, even some of the big ones. We'd need number of cities, their location, capital if there's one, trade routes between the different powers...
-An approximate general timeline of the world. Maybe a common mythology and cosmogony.
-How the flat world works: The night/day cycle, seasons, its relation with magic, how the Emptiness affects the world...
-Adding more lore to the more lacking spots. We could check the wiki for those places with very little lore.
Anything else we might need?
>>
Half of the map is forests/swamps/deserts that are unoccupied/uninhabited. Many such places in real life belonged to states around them (like western sahara, or swamps in europe etc).

Would it be fair to assume that, for example, the Jibaro Wetlands are part of the Azan Empire (with some belonging to Gautlan) even though there are few people living there? Same with the warmog forest, stymphalian swamps, chill steppe, vodyanik lands, land of the lord descended from the sky, strange meadows, etc etc

In the end the political map could be much more cohesive

>>84966428
>We'd need number of cities
We would need to agree on the scale of the map and population numbers first, maybe better to just add the main trade cities in each nation for now

>An approximate general timeline of the world
Azan/Dragon Empire started breaking up around one millennium ago, which is also when the Drow and Witch-Elves started becoming big players, so that is an important milestone for the west and south portions of the map

>>84966524
Jibaro Wetlands, stymphalian swamps, warmog forest are all technically part of Azan, as well as several other regions listed in the long Azan entry

Chill Steppe has tribesmen fighting Grobianismus, so they are more or less sovereign, ditto for land of the lord...

Certain other places are just to shitty no one probably even pretends to claim them since they are uninhabited by civilized folk and uncharted
>>
>>84966832
>>84966524

>>84966428
>approximate general timeline of the world
in the beginning, the land was wild and full of strange creatures (elves, gnomes, hobbits, fairies, giants, etc)
humans and others like them (dwarves, merfolk, etc) wanted to tame the land
the wild fought back, making lots of dark creatures with the help of demons
the humans and their allies made several great empires (dragon, khenomeric, merfolk) to continue settling land, much of world civilized except north and extreme south
at various points, dragon empire and khenomeric dissolve, merfolk empire destroyed, many areas become wild again
humans in the north belatedly start making some kingdoms, with help from refugees from elsewhere
evil nations like drow, witch-elves, and gnolls start to spread

and then there is the food lands, which got spliced in from another dimension at some point

what about the timeline of Zemyland

that's the most fucked up
>>

Uhhhh what do I do now? I think it makes sense to write them as them being a succesor state of the Merfolk since they have statues and shrines of tridents and shit.

merfolk empire got written as being made up by four human and one merfolk kingdom, with overall leadership held by merfolk

>>84968098
no but the dwarves left the upper part of the library abandoned at some day and moved into the catacombs (this is when humans moved into Xandrilex and build their cities and villages around it). Then some day the dwarves disappeared completely and the catacombs kept getting more and more dangerous due to bookimistic experiments, book hunters and animals moving in. the old underground cities of the dwarves still exist somewhere down there but nobody got deep enough to ever see them with his own eyes

Ok, the depth map is well underway.

For the most part the map is dominated by either natural caves and goblin nests.

The drow holds are easy enough, but I may have missed some areas in which there ought to be some.

Dwarven ones I'm sure I've missed some, both occupied and abandoned, if you can indicate me where, I'd be thankful.

Human undergrounds are a mix of abandoned cities, underground cities and other different things. I need to re-read the lore to find most of this.

Also, I've made an example of how to put the map info in the Isle of Wizards. Basically the name and known max depth. If you can think of a better system, I'm all ears, specially before I start introducing data.

>The Flying Castle of Lugubrum
Is a demon core powered levitating structure ruled by the Dark Wizard Zwackelman. His minions are nine dark-cloaked lich warriors who use black hellsteel man-catchers as wands and ride on red dragons that also inhabit the castle. When a fight ensues, they hurl shadow bolts at their foes, and those who dodge these deadly magic beams are torn apart by their hungry dragons. Lugubrum is at the same time, fort, residence but above all a flying siege engine with which Zwackelman flies over the country and sends out his henchmen to raid and rob castles. Pig orcs stand atop the numerous Dark Towers, shooting arrows which they ignite in great bowls of flame to burn down villages and set fire to keeps. The rest of the goons populating the Lugubrum are a motley mix of goblin-like creatures that fall roughly into the categories of lizard-snouts, crow-beaks, long-ears and goat-horns. They are armed with rusty halberds, long knives, spiked flails and morning stars. Aside from his secret phylactery, Zackelman's most prized possession is his Pain Crystal Orb, through which he can scout anywhere in the world for amusement or to decide whether a heist is worthwhile. Both peasants and kings tremble when they hear the horror stories of the flying Black Castle. Many dismiss it as a horror story out of fear it might haunt them too

Kingdom of Grobianismus

The Medieval Mudcore Kingdom is located to the relative east of the continent. Everything stinks is soacked in a muddy green-brownish color palette and people are farting, shitting and raping everywhere. From this place the black plague originated which is just like the irl plague but the suffering takes three times as long and is considerably more painful. There's also a comically evil Inquisition that burns everyone at the stake for even the slightest suspicion of being a witch which can be everything from having sex before marriage, having red hair or being called a witch by literally anyone. Everyone has really bad manners and behaves like described in the lyrical style of medieval Grobianismus known from works like the Narrenschiff. Nobody bathes, Horses can't enter towns because the mud is knee deep on a good day, pigs are everywhere, the average lifespan is 30 years and everyone who isn't a peasant fucks their relatives to keep the bloodline pure the peasants just do it for fun. The favorite weapon is the flail and people keep coming up with ridicolously elaborate torture devices which is pretty much the only innovation coming from there. There's a weird psychoanalytical fixation on excrement going on and the humor, art and poetry from this nation are nothing but fart jokes. People are scared as shit to go to hell but for some strange reason they just seem to do everything they can to go there after death despite comitting suicide. Everyone except the caricaturesque noblemen who are ugly as sin and wipe their asses with how much gold they have, is really fucking poor, miserable and basically a slave. Think Pasolini's most abysmal scat fantasy crossed with the Peasants from Monty Python's holy grail.

LMAO we need to expand the lore for this!

>History
The Empire of Avangar was nowhere near an empire no less than 25 years ago. It was rather a collection of tribes that lived around the Elyrian swamps, near the middle of the smallstep continent. The Elyrians - as they're called - had settled in that area for more than a few centuries. Oral stories of the Elyrian elders describe that they fled from the west to the east, being subject to slavery and oppression of all kinds. They made the marshes of Elyria their home, as the peaceful people living the woods to the west did not bother them.

They had developed a distinct culture from the people around them and they made their homes either on huts by the water, or inside damp caves, finding ways to seal them off from the various creatures of the swamp, as well as mosquitoes. The harsh environment they found themselves shaped them like fine clay, with many Elyrians being described as the most fierce warriors in the world, fighting like bloodthirsty demons, by many foreigners who tried to invade their lands.

They had been living peacefully until around 150 years ago, when a horde of humans migrated from the south. These humans were not peaceful and swept everything in their way. Although not conquered, a lot of the Elyrians perished in these clashes, with many women and children raped or taken as slaves. These wars hardened the Elyrians even more, and they began conditioning their sons and daughters to be suitable for any kind of conflict.

From that day, every Elyrian child could scavenge by itself in the swamp, camouflage appropriately and use poisonous ranged weapons, as well as finish off the wounded enemy soldiers during wars.

[1]
>>
>>84972614
Each territory in the swamp was governed by a Dratko, an elder of the swamps, although the elders held an annual council where they discussed the most important matters of their people.

The Elyrians that lived in caves considered the ones that lived in small towns to be soft and weak, neglecters of traditions, and usually excluded them from their councils.

The Elyrians have spoken of many prophecies in the past. One of them describes that one day a foreigner would land in their shores, who would learn their customs and manage to unite the tribes, something that had never happened before. It was around 30 years ago that a boy - no older than 20 years old - found his way in the swamps. His real name has been erased from any records by now, but many scholars argue that he came from the west, reasons unknown, from a hospitable land with bountiful harvest, unlike the Elyrian marshes.

The boy then joined the tribe of the Elder Zvedo, but not without being tested first. He was extremely fast at learning their traditions, language and even taming the beasts of the swamp. From being called a soft outlander boy, the Elyrians started to respect him and his natural abillity at magic, and some even were in awe, whispering of connections to the old prophecy..

The Elyrians were having another problem, however. The Elyrian marshes and swamps were starting to get colder and colder, with even the caves being harder to live in during the winter months, as even the still waters started freezing. With many animals decreasing in population and trees dying, food became even scarcer, and there were many discussions amongst the Elders of migrating to the west, as there was also rumours of the Platinum Princedom preparing a new offensive campaign against them.

[2]
>>
>>84972684
However, these rumours soon turned to reality, as the Princedom's soldiers swarmed the swamps to the south. The foreign boy lead many skirmishers on the side of his elder, Zedko, all being a success, as his use of sorcery was sublime. It had been already 2 years since the boy had been living with the Elyrians, and he was starting to be indistinguishable from the natives.

The attack by the Platinum Princedom was ultimately a failure, with the Elyrians celebrating a decisive victory, although it had left them scarred once more, with many losses to speak of. The boy quickly started gaining the support of the Elyrian's youth, with many truly believing him to be the man prophecized by the legend. Whispers started to spread that he should challenge Zedko in order to usurp the leadership of the tribe, as that was the only way of succesion, according to Elyrian ways.

One day, the boy came to the council of the Elders with a proposition. He were to use his sorcery in order to forge a large flame that would magically heat the marshes of Elyria, making it a hospitable place once more. The Elders were very reluctant at first, as they feared the boy's increasing popularity among the youth, but eventually accepted.

In a construct of unparalleled magnificence, the Tower of the Eternal Fire - as it's now called - was erected no less than a year later. At the top, a flame the size of a house burned. Even though many Elders were superstitious about fire magic, they could only look at astonishment at the Elyrian swamps, slowly being unfrozen and large part of the wildlife's population recovering. The boy was soon given a new name, "Avangar", meaning the bringer of light in the Elyrian language. His real name was never uttered by any Elyrian ever again.

Elyrians from the surrounding villages and even from the caves soon made their home around the Tower of the Eternal Fire, founding the biggest Elyrian settlement yet, Alga.

Zedko, who had taken the mantle of being the unofficial leader of the swamp people, was pressured into challenging Avangar for the leadership, in fear of being the one challenged first. Zedko, who was one of the finest warriors of Elyria, knew that he would have absolutely no chance against Avangar, even if the latter made no use of his sorcery. But those were the ways of the Elyrians. Only one man would walk out alive, with him being crowned the leader of the tribe.

When Zedko challenged Avangar to a duel, Avangar declined. His magic had gotten stronger, and he started to be able to read the mind and body language of everyone around him with near perfection. He knew that Zedko was afraid of him. But more than being feared, he was respected. Avangar explained to Zedko that the only way for the Elyrian people to prosper was through uniting and settling their differences. These customs of killing one another for the sake of succession only helped in winding down the capable males that could lead the Elyrians.

Through persuasion, Zedko did something that no Elyrian Elder had done before. He defied the sacred customs, and instead declared Avangar the absolute leader of the Elyrians in front of the whole council. Avangar's ascension was celebrated by almost everyone. Avangar taught the Elyrians how to use magic and manipulate the elements, his own skill having grown enormously since his earlier days.

Having been universally accepted as the savior from the prophecies, he was revered as some kind of demigod. People started praying to him for health and fortunes, often forsaking their old gods of the swamp.

Alga soon became a bustling city, with many flocking everyday from the swamps to Avangar's Great Hall to ask him for advice and pray to him.
>>
>>84972848
Avangar should wed Zedko's daughter, who gave birth to two of his children. Many wars were subsequently started against the Tarot Kingdom to the south and people living in the east, all of them succesful. The Elyrians started to worship Avangar as a god, waving his banner as they charged into battle, shouting their zealous war-cries. Avangar was no more a leader of the Elyrians, but rather a divine figure, an Emperor whose Empire took his own name.

The woodcutter cities of the west recognized the might of Avangar and offered themselves as tributaries, while also adopting the Avangar religion. Thousands of pilgrims visited Alga every month to pray at the temples of Avangar, as well as the Tower of the Eternal Flame, whose light burned brighter than ever.

The life of the Elyrians had changed in less than 20 years. Very few lived in the caves anymore. The youth did not need to learn the ways of the swamp, scavenging off the land to survive. The worship of the swamp gods and spirits had fizzled out, and use of magic was widespread amongst the youth, something that was only reserved by specific elderly women. They saw their centuries old traditions turn to smoke before their very eyes. Many (former) Elders were suspicious of change, but they didn't want to admit it.
>>
>>84972979
Avangar would wed*

One of Avangar's policies was allowing all kinds of magic to be practiced in Avangar, with the capital of Alga being the centre of the dark arts of the world. People from all over the Continent sailed to Alga to study and practice necromancy, pyromancy, blood magic and other horrible arts that were forbidden in most of the world. He also outlawed many of the many brutal and savage customs that the Elyrians would often practice, such as leaving the children born with any deformations in the swamp to die.

It all came crumbling down 8 years ago, when Avangar was blinded by a conspiracy against him. Unwanting to be seen as weak and feeble by his own people, he willingly wandered in the swamp by his own, as the old custom dictated, never to be seen again.

That was seen not as Avangar's death, but his completed ascension towards Godhood. The reigns of the Empire were soon taken by his wife, Tamara, until his son was to come of age. The Royal family was seen as holy and sacred, and Tamara took advantage of this, as she used the abundant riches gained by Avangar to build to expand the Great Hall of Avangar in Alga, turning it into a gargantuan palace, such that could field an entire city inside it. The clergy of Avangar expanded and became the leading force and authority of the Empire, entrapping it in a voracious net of bureaucracy.

Tamara used the clergy as her shield, and being a native Elyrian herself she housed a natural disdain towards any foreigner, unlike her husband. She soon passed a law that demanded of any foreigners who set their foot in Alga to wear a mask that hid their face, something they could prove with no trouble.

As Avangars' 10 year old son, Ausar, is showing signs of his father's expertise with magic and is being groomed to rule, Tamara is preparing for an invasion of the Platinum Princedom, aiming to take the entirety of smallstep's northern coast.

But Vukasin is ruled by a council of skeleton priest, who while not particularly nice people aren't actively seeking out to do evil. Give him his own evil tower, the islands are big enough.

i thought that a lich ruled the okhost islands, according to the lore atleast

Added the Succubus breaches, mostly close to the frontiers to profit from travellers and other unsuspecting victims. Biblion was already added there. As for the Leviathan cadaver, the lore says the lost continent below the Sea of Bile was sunk due to the beast's weight, so I've added another sunken underground.

Ayuzawa – Home to a small school teaching sword magic of the eastern tradition
Candida – Several mercenary companies have been hired to clear this region of trolls for future settlement
Emrera – Large border garrison, protects inner regions from the Troll Wastes
Euthymius – Famous wine making city
Gregorius – Massive fort. Originally built to support a long forgotten plan to reabsorb the Furlaniyan cities, now mostly defends against trolls
Hillgrad – Mining town with four large dwarf clans in addition to its human inhabitants
Lascari – Hilltop town that services a number of nearby villas and vineyards
Lucapena – Garrison town that patrols the river upstream
Narses – Pretty typical regional city. Has a good university and mages college
Nichiren – Home to a scandal ridden nunnery
Planudes – Major tourism center during the summer due to its large beaches and tree shaded villas. Has a bit of a seedy side, but still far safer than Ampleazzo
Prudentius – Home to several finely crafted bridges. It is said to be good luck to jump nude from the tallest bridge, though this sometimes results in injury
Yarakan – Popular retirement community for aged adventurers and thieves

going to write some more avangar lore later or maybe tomorrow
>>
>Government
The leader of Avangar is Emperor Ausar I, although Ausar's mother, Tamara, rules as Empress Regent until he's of age.

She has full authority on most decisions concerning the governance, although the clergy mantains a lot of power when it comes to day to day operations, including law enforcement, religious authority and other bureaucratic drivel.

Some of the clans that stayed in the swamps instead of moving to the cities hold some type of unofficial authority when it comes to their tribes but still pay taxes and supply the Empire with men to fight.

>Economy
The treasure vaults of Avangar are mostly filled by tributaries from the Tarot Kingdoms and the woodcutter cities, as well as taxes from the eastern part of smallstep and the islands of Sirtai Martoflu.

Trade is minimal, and Avangar mostly buys silver and steel from the Kingdom of Silver, Elanxa and Leng, while they export coal and opioids that are found in the swamp to other nations, such as Luden and Seagard.

Avangar also exploits some of the gold and copper mines that were left behind by the Begiz in the Skor Kartoflu island, reinforcing their economy even more.

>Culture

Before the rise of Avangar, the Elyrians that dwelled in the swamp caves and thosed that lived in the towns had distinct cultures. The former held more importance to their tribe and the traditions and worship of their old gods, as well as despising any form of magic and witchcraft. The townspeople were less hostile to foreigners, sometimes even forming trade relations with them.

Nowadays, however, the youth that live in Alga and the other cities don't resemble the Elyrians of the past. Most have forsaken their own gods, practice sorcery and expand their cities while not caring for the swamps they call their home. They see the past as dark times now long gone, having been absorbed in the prophecy of the Lightbringer and being addicted to their newfound glory and riches.

[cont]
>>
>>84977864
[CONT]

However, there are still the swamp tribes that have kept to their old traditions and religions. The clan of Elder Ducha despies Avangar and his family for "killing" their gods and building their palaces and cities and drowning out their swamps. They live in the heart of the swamp and refuse to pay taxes or any kind of dilligence towards the Empire, instead partaking in smuggling activities of the "Demon's Poppy" opioid that only grows in the Elyrian swamps.

>Geography

The central area of Smallstep is full of bogs and marshes, which are called the Elyrian swamps. Most of the Elyrians live around that area, with some communities living in the edges of the swamp, near the plains to the east. On the far east there are hills that were populated by foreigners until the recent conquests, with now many Elyrians moving there, as many mines and ports have opened.

>Demographics

Elyrians - They make up the majority of the Empire. The ruling class, as well as the clergy and the millitary are exclusively Elyrian. They mostly live in the Elyrian swamps, with the majority living in the capital of Alga, while the cavedwellers are now few in numbers. The island of Stor Kartoflu is also majority Elyrian, and there have been many immigrating from the mainland in order to help rebuild the island's infastracture.

Map anon here. With the map fully field, I think this ought to be the final version of the physical map. Any further geographic additions are of more local importance, and thus need to be added in local maps and not the world map.
>>
>>84978536
And while we're at it, here's the biome map as well.
>>
>>84978087
Other humans - Most humans that live in Avangar are to be found in Alga. Those are mostly practicers of the dark arts, such as shadowbinders, necromancers and other dastardly sorcerers. Most humans in Alga are from the Isle of Wizards, Arangea, Hithlone, Azan and Mossovoy, with few coming from the east. Apart from Alga, the other swamp settlements are almost exclusively Elyrian, while the eastern parts of smallstep and the Kingdom of Poker being populated mostly by the conquered local populace. The Belizian people of Stor Kartoflu are mostly gone, either fleeing to Vilga, or escaping to the hills that surround cannibal bay. The parts of Avangar that hold the least Elyrians are the lands of the Former Republic of Vilga - especially the island of Zeresh - as well as the middle of Stor Kartoflu island.

Ogres - The horned variant of the Ogre live in the Sitrai Martoflu archipelago, mostly in the Stor Kartoflu hills and mountains. The middle of the island holds a large population of ogres, as many have descended from the hills in order to populated the cities that used to belong to the Beliz. They worship a corrupted version of Avangar.

Elves and other non humans - Most non humans are Witch Elves and the occasional Gnoll. Hobbits, dwarves and halflings barely have any interest in the dark arts, and as such have no interest in living in Avangar. A rare sight in the city of Alga are the nefarious Skeleton priests, disguised as humans using glamor spells. The reasons of visit are unknown, but many suspect that they are recruiting people for their dark armies, while delving even deeper in the art of necromancy. They, like the other foreign humans have to wear masks while walking outside in Avangar.

>>84977864
I forgot to mention that traditional Elyrian garbs are long sleeved and include head veils that cover everything but the eyes - for both men and women. Those are both ceremonial and practical,as they were used for protection against the mosquito swarms.

>Snoloths

The Snoloths, or Sloth Men as they are less formally refered as, are the only inhabitants of Snoloth Country. Standing at about 8-9 Feet on average the Snoloths would make strong warriors and workers if they had the drive to do it, but sadly for them they are slow moving and unmotivated. Even the Witch-Elves don't see any use for them as slaves which has left them relatively untouched. They live mostly to the center of their country to keep away from any border wars.

The land they live in is mostly a bog and the Snoloths inhabit villages made of stone huts that can have anywhere from 20-200 Snoloths and farm Water Chestnuts, Cranberries and Bog Chew, a chewing tobacco like substance. The Snoloths have no central leadership and instead all share the same tasks, which is mainly farming and repairs to keep their houses up. Perceived as grumpy to outsiders it is true that they don't particularly enjoy the "Fast Men" (What they call any other sentient species) but can tolerate them overtime if they share the same values of peace and carelessness. Their favorite species are the Hobbits as they too enjoy many meals and relaxing in the shade.

The Snoloths have one syllable names like, Bo, Raf, Weln, and Crog, and rarely do they give themselves surnames. The only Snoloths you are likely to see outside of Snoloth Country are young Snoloths who yearn for something greater than Cranberry farming. One of these Snoloths can be a great asset to an adventuring party, due to their size and brute strength acting for good muscle.

>>
>>84979297
They are inspired by the historical Bowery Boys of NY and Billy Boys of Glasgow.

>Military

The millitary officers and commanders of the Avangar army are exclusively Elyrian. Some of the eastern human populations make up small numbers as infantrymen and archers. Cavalry is only now slowly getting adopted by the Elyrians, since they traditionally had little use in the swamps where they lived. Sorcerers also take an importance place, as the abundance of sorcery practicioners in Alga has filled their ranks with people that aren't afraid to exploit magic in order to kill.

But the most important part of the Elyrian army are the Urageen - short for suicide warriors - infantrymen and the special guard of the Empire, who were the first young Elyrians who supported Avangar. They consume the "Demon's Poppy" drug that makes them absolutely fearless even in the face of certain death. Now grizzlied veterans, their skill in battle is unparalleled. The Urageen banner is enough to make people pray for mercy, from the Gnolls in the east to the Sea Elves in the far west.

>Religion

The Elyrians are very spiritual people, to the point of being deeply superstitious. Their religious teachings revolve around laconism and the worship of nature's spirits as well as the swamp itself, as well as several gods of the swamp, such as Velgrod and Sdy. As with many tribal people, prophecies are an integral part of their religion.

However, the average Elyrian nowadays worships their former Emperor Avangar as a God and a messiah. Although the clergy itself recognizes the old swamp gods alongside Avangar, their worship is almost forgotten outside of the swamps themselves. The Elyrians now pray to Avangar for guidance, wealth and good health. Many warriors scream his name at the top of their lungs as they charge into battle, burning many cities in his banner, a black helmet surrounded by flames.

Well, Luden is literally a parody version of London where the inhabitants are rat people. Other cities where there might be a big immigrant population are Hithlone, Zapalovah, Arangea etc

Here is some underground lore and place names. Not necessarily the most important of their kind, just some examples:

Da Wet Caves (Kinnog) – A network of hundreds of kilometers of natural limestone caves, cenotes, and lava tubes, some of which are partially filled with sea water. The goblins here have become overpopulated, causing some to raid the surface dwellers or goblins in other cave networks.

Mer’itas’sii (Drow) – This Lolthite Drow city is partially located beneath a large surface lake that slowly drains into the crevasses beneath it via tall waterfalls, some hundreds of meters tall. The underground lakes and ponds in the area are warmed by nearby volcanic activity.

Helmgrud Hall (Azan) – This sprawling former mine and fortress is more horizontal than vertical, unusual for a large dwarf hold. It was abandoned centuries ago after the ore seams ran dry, but parts of it are still used as storage or for certain dwarven religious ceremonies by clans that are still in the region.

Gomorrah Breach – Despite breaching amidst a mountain range, the Gomorrah Breach extends kilometers beneath the surface. It is said the closer you get to the bottom, the more it starts looking like the hell from which the breach originated.

The Moon-Lit Grotto - This pacifist Eilistraean Drow city was unfortunately overrun not long after the Gomorrah Breach formed.

Orgia Breach – One of several small nascent breaches, its existence is largely unknown, but the succubus there sometimes cause trouble for Daligrad and Kalydon, and have a love-hate relationship with Mutaa’s followers.

Forgulholme – This large underground dwarven city was overrun by giberlings centuries ago. The giberlings still live there, and sometimes capture she-ep for foul rituals.
>>
>>84982647

The Burrow – Like many hobbit constructs, it isn’t a true underground structure, though it is build under a hill, and goes down several levels. One of the largest of its kind, several dozen hobbits can live quite comfortably in it.

The Dungeon of Evil – A rare dark place in an otherwise peaceful realm, this large hobbit burrow was invaded by a group of evil gnome cultists, who expanded it using slave labor, and who still raid neighboring communities to this day.

Mossovoy Underground – Bad stuff happens here.

Da Boom Caves (Changrila) – No one remembers where the name comes from, but the goblins living in the network of karst caves of this region are unusually pacifist, slow to breed, and friendly with outsiders. Some see them as wise and knowledgeable, others believe they just say stuff that gets them attention.

Da Stikky Caves (Changrila) – The goblins here have converted to worshipping Gogotha thanks to the influence of the nearby nascent breach. The less that is said about this cave network the better.

> Crystalids or Crystalid Destroyers

A rather odd and peculiar group of entities.Their forms and size may vary but most commonly they can be described as Insect-like creatures made out of pure crystals size can vary between "living crystal dust" and a "bastion on legs". They don't belong to the surface world neither the known underground worlds, some theorise they came from the heart of the world. The means of how they got out of there varies. Some came with earthquakes or volcanic eruptions, some crawled out of deep caverns reaching down to their habitat and some just dig themselves out. But the first instance is the most common. And by it they occur in higher numbers on active volcanic lands or near mountains. The desroyer in their name is not a misnomer wherever they go they are capable of creating mayhem most commonly by simply walking through their obstacles either crushing or slicing anything to a bloody mess (depends on the form). Fighting against them is also hard but not impossible. Because of their composition they are hard enough to damage but they can have a variety of offensive weaponry. Starting with the more common either sharp or blunt potrusions and growths even rarer encounters can have more extreme ones like a outproportioned "mouth" full of insanely sharp "teeth" or just unleashing such a strong scream that even their own bodies cannot tolerate, or being capable of shatering themselves to become smaller entities then fusing together again or just using parts of their bodies as projectiles. In some extreme cases they can morph their forms to suit their needs and while many of them formed wing like structures the capability of flight is only a theorised ability some entities posess. Each of them is a one of a kind which means they are unpredictable but on the other hand they worth a lot. Jewellers all over the world only wish to obtain even a small bodypart. Thanks to their unique composition and atteibutes they are highly coveted materials.

Artifacts made from this material can be extremely powerful if made right. But it can be hit or miss because of the one of the kind random nature of the creature its made from. This is why it was basicaly banned from alchemy and magical usage the results can be so random that the risk is just too high.
>>
>>84985013
where do they live
>>
Thanedds are huge crustacean creatures with octopus like tentacles. They live in the South West sea and the Leviathan Gulf, often in deep waters.

They are carnivores and can consume the carcass of a whale in a few days. They have a particular affinity towards human meat, and sometimes latch themselves on the nets of large ships, climbing their way towards the ship and wrecking havoc.

They are very smart creatures and can use the body of a dead human to communicate using its vocal chords. Many whaling ships have perished in those waters, as killing a Thanedd is extremely difficult, although it makes for an insanely valuable prize.
>>
>>84985223

>Foreign Relations

Republic of Vilga - Last chronogically territory that was conquered by Avangar. Many in the Vilgan council are bribed by the Empire, while the Quamona Tong syndicate is opposed to the occupatio, constantly trying to cause provocations amongst Avangar and Vilga, as well as other foreign nations. Many temples have been built to Avangar's name, but few have converted thus far.

Woodcutter cities - The cities to the east, near the Red Lake pay tribute to Avangar, having adopted their religion. Avangar competes with the Platinum Princedom and the Orange Marquisates for control over the rest of the cities, dedicating a lot of money and manpower.

Platinum Princedom - These two nations are hostile with each other, with guards patrolling their borders, where many fortifications have been built. The Platinum Princedom is worried about Avangar's warmongering and rapid expansion and has hired Nerim mercenaries to protect their lands. The Kingdom of Silver has also allined with the Platinum Princedom. The Empire plans on retaking the entirety of the Smallstep northern coast.

Kingdom of Tarot - A war broke out between those two nations a couple of years ago, with Avangar coming victorious, gaining the Kingdom of Poker as their vassal and subjecting the Kingdom of Tarot to an expensive annual tribute. Much of their trade is controlled by Avangar, although they hope they can gain free themselves from the tribute once the war breaks out.

Elanxa Empire - The Elanxans are worried about the expansion of the Avangar Empire, although they don't think the Elyrians would try landing a force in their soil. They employ spies and agents in Vilga that push anti-Elyrian propaganda.
>>

Orange Marquisates - The Orange marquisates are vying for the control of the woodcutter cities against Avangar, although they see their potential war with the Platinum Princedom as an financial opportunity, thinking it might increase their trade power with the northern realms. Despite that, they too have their own internal conflicts, so for the moment they aren't too busy worrying about Avangar's westward expansion.

Zeresh - Technically an Avangar territory, although a garrison isn't stationed there, just a few guards. The Quamona Tong use it as their headquarters, running a hidden smuggling operation from there.

Neraga - The Elyrians are aware of the existence of the pirate shanty town of the Dreaded Wharf there, although very few attempts have been made to cease their illegal activities, most centering around apprehending galleys that transfer contraband in Labyrinth Bay. The pirates and smugglers of Dreaded Wharf are of split opinion when it comes to Avangar, some seeing the upcoming war as a hinderance to their operations, while others seeing profit in supplying the winning side.

Tower of Insanity - Technically part of the empire, although no one has stationed or landed there, since local superstition of the haunted tower is still going strong.

Kunt - Avangar has been aware of the Pirate Temple's existence for a long time, although their activities mostly concern the eastern seas, with few raids conducted around the labyrinth bay. The Elyrians have rejected the idea of taking control of the island, as an assault or even a naval siege would cost too many men that are needed elsewhere.

That's all folks, If I've contradicted something on the lore you can correct me.

>>84987277 I vote yes, looks nice

>>84988083
Ι forgot of one last thing.

Blackstone Prison Islands - The prisoners often taken by the demonic wardens from the Avangar prisons are mostly petty thiefs and murderers, while other nations give up necromancers and other dark arts practicioners. Many of Avangar's officers are trying to find a way to apprehend the ships that carry these valuable prisoners to the prison, although dealing with the Wardens' fury does not seem like a very attractive option.
