Sophia steps forward and leans in. "No" She says.

Munchkin starts crying.

"Ahh! Sorry, I didn't mean that" Sophia says.
Munchkin stops crying.

"Wow, she can already turn it on and off at will" Dustin says. "Not used to having your own tricks pulled against you, huh Sophia?"
Sophia crosses her wings, and doesn't answer.

"Well, I'll be around. It was nice meeting you" You say.
"Likewise" Dustin replies. "I will most certainly be in touch"

"Say bye bye, Munchkin" You say.
"Bye bye birdy" Munchkin says.

Sophia doesn't react, but you can kind of see her smile...

You bring munchkin over to where the playroom is, and it's... huge. The room is easiily the size of the actual hall, with strange tunnels suspended from the ceiling running all throughout.

The ground is clear, mostly. With the exception of the tunnel's entrance in the corner, and a few slides around the sides.

You see several children here, running around and playing. There are also several parents, seated in an area towards one of the corners.

Over in the parent's corner, you see Fran, Lance, Daniella and Teague. You don't see the devils on the floor, so they must be in the tunnels...

You head over to where the parents are seated, recognizing a few other familiar faces as you get closer.

"Archer? Layla?" You ask.
"Happy birthday, squirt" Layla says. "I'd give you your present now, but captain buzzkill says it has to wait"

"Everybody's present is waiting" Lance says. "Sorry about earlier, Yuu. The girls just about dragged us in here when they heard about this place"

"I assume they're in the tunnels?" You ask.
"Somewhere up there" Fran says. "Lance tells us that you were talking to Lord Dustin and his daughter when he came in"
"I was" You say. "They're okay, I guess"
"How'd it go?" Layla asks. "Looked like you had a captive audience when we arrived"

"It went well, until Ilica stuck me with a baby" You say.
"I can see that" Daniella says. "And how is my little munchkin doing?"

Munchkin lets out a gleeful squeak.

"I think that's baby speak for 'good'" You say.
Daniella laughs. "It's baby speak for great" She says.

"Why is everyone waiting for presents?" You ask.
"Because it's one of the main events of a birthday party" Daniella says.
"It is? What are the other ones?" You ask.
"Well, there's the arrival of the birthday boy or girl, dinner, the cutting of the cake, and opening presents" Daniella says. "It's tradition"

"You say that like it's an important tradition" Layla says.
"It is to us" Daniella says firmly.

Layla shrugs. "You heard the lady" She says, as she removes her hat and tosses you a candy. "In the meantime, you can have that"

"Cool, thanks" You say.

You turn and look back out at the room as you pop the candy in your mouth. You idly wonder if all these kids belong to the hunters. There are a bunch of them building something out of blocks, some of them are chasing each other around, and some of them are playing around a little house.

Up above, the tunnels shake as children move through them. Around the tunnels there are a few winged children weaving around the pipes.

"Thinking of going up?" Fran asks.

"Yeah" You say. "Will I fit?"
"Definitely" Daniella says. "Kids actually aren't allowed to go up there unless there's an adult, so it's big enough to be comfortable for us"

"Wait, so if all of you are here... then who's up there with them?" You ask.
"Stella is" Daniella says. "Along with a few other kids her age"

"Cool" You say.
"But, if you're going up..." Daniella says, as she gets up and lifts the munchkin out of your arms. "Then this one stays here"

Munchkin babbles angrily.

"None of that. You're still too young" Daniella says, as she sits and puts munchkin down on her knee. "Which is why you get this kind of treatment"

Daniella bounces her knee, quickly turning munchkin's anger into giggling, as her voice jumps with each bounce.

"There we go" Daniella says.
"That's effective" You say.
"You learn some tricks as a parent" Daniella says. "Now go on. Tell Stella I said hello"
"Okay" You say. "See you later"

You head over to the tunnel entrance, and look up. There's a ladder leading up, and little windows along the length to let the light in.

You climb up, and up, and up...

Is this like the stairs down to the dungeons all over again? Oh wait, no. There's the top.

The ladder ends in a bulb-like room, with 1 tunnel leading out.

Now you just have to find the others. Shouldn't be too hard... right?

Figures you guys would crit here, where it doesn't really matter.

You get down and start crawling into the tunnel. A few feet in, you reach the first split. On instinct, you go left. Then right. Then right again.

You come to a bit of an incline that you remember seeing from below. It should lead into a big box that sits at the top of the pipe system. You saw 2 of these: one with lots of windows for looking down, and another with none.

You crawl in and look around. There's enough headroom to stand in here, if just barely. One of the walls has a bunch of little books, and the ceiling is open to the light.

You also see the people you were looking for, snuggled up against the back wall, reading one of the books.

Stella is reading the book out loud to Lily, Daisy, and Gabby. None of them seem to have noticed you...

You step quietly up to where the 4 of them are sitting together, with Gabriella in Stella's lap, and the devils to either side.

Gabriella's ears turn to you, and she looks up for a second.

You put a finger up to your lips. She nods, and turns her attention back to the book.

You creep all the way up, and sit down in front of them. Then you wait patiently for Stella to finish reading.

"And they all lived happily ever after. The end" Stella says, as she closes the book.

After a few seconds of silence, the devils both shoot to their feet.

"I get to pick the next one!" Lily says.
"No fair, you got to pick the last o-" Daisy says, stoping dead in her tracks when she sees you.

There is a long silence, as Stella, Lily, and Daisy try to figure out where you came from. Broken only by Gabriella's muffled giggles.

"Stello" You say, breaking the silence.
"Yuu!" Stella says. "When did you get here?"
"At around the time when the hero got on the boat" You say. "It's a good story"

"And the next one's gonna be even better!" Lily says, as she grabs your hand and drags you over to the shelf. "Come on!"
"Lily! It's my turn to pick!" Daisy says as she chases after you.

The books are all kid's books. Very colourful, lots of pictures, but light on the story.

You eventually settle on just grabbing a couple of books, so that you don't have to keep getting up. When you sit back down, Daisy sits with you, and Lily gets in between you and Stella.

Since Stella is the better reader, she does most of the work.

You go through the few books that the kids brought back, and are about to grab a few more, when Coral flies in through the open ceiling.

When you see her, you hold out a hand for her to land on. She falls onto it like a sheet of paper, clearly exhausted.

"Is she okay?" Stella asks.
"Coral?" You ask.

Coral holds up a hand, giving you a thumb's up.

"Yeah, she's fine" You say, putting out some energy for her as you pull out something for her to eat. "Just how far did you have to fly to go see Altea?"

Coral sits up and shrugs, as she takes the dried berry you give her.

"She probably just needs some rest" Stella says. "Shouldn't be a problem, since you don't work her too hard"

You nod, and look up again. A little girl with black wings flies into the room, and lands. "Hey! Lily, Daisy!" She says.
"Hey Dee, what's up?" Lily asks.
"They've got all the food out down there" 'Dee' says. "Your mom said to call you guys down"
"Awesome!" Lily says. "Come on Daisy! I bet I can beat you down there!"
"No way!" Daisy says, as the two of them dash for the door.

You step forward and grab them both by the collar. "Slow down there, you two" You say. "The food's not going anywhere"
"Yes it is!" Lily says. "It's going into people's stomachs! If we don't hurry it'll all be gone!"

"I sincerely doubt that they'd make you go hungry" Stella says. "There'll be plenty left when we get down"
"But what if there isnt?" Lily asks.
"Then I'll just have to give whoever ate it all a stern talking to" Stella says. "After all, it's Yuu's birthday. If there's none for you, then there'd be none for him"


"Oh yeah" Lily says.

Daisy tugs at your sleeve. "Come on!" She says.

You smile, crawl into the hole, and head down the incline to the first turn.

"Where are you going?" Lily asks.
"Back to the ladder" You reply. "Why?"
"The slides are all that way!" Lily says.

"I-I don't wanna go to the slides..." Gabriella says. "They're too scary"
"Aww man..." Lily says.

"Mhm" Gabby replies.

"Alright... why don't I take these two to the slides, and you can take Gabby to the ladder?" You ask.
"That sounds good" Stella says. "Does that sound good?"

Gabby nods, and you move to one side so Lily can pass you. "Alright, lead the way" You say.

Lily heads past you and into the other tunnel, along with Daisy. When you go to follow them, Stella crawls up to you.

"See you down there, okay?" She says.
"Yeah" You reply.
"See you" Gabby says.

You smile and ruffle her hair between the ears, and then follow after the devils. They keep going for a few more turns, and you notice that they're a lot slower than you...

Must be the shorter limbs...

Either way, you reach a longer tunnel with several exits onto the slides, with the 'easier' ones at the start, and the 'harder' ones further in.

From what you saw on the outside, that sounds pretty accurate. You think one of them might've just been a drop...

"I'm going down this one!" Lily says, when she gets to a slide that's halfway down. "See ya!"

She hops in, and you hear her laughter fade as she gets farther away.

"That was quick" You say. "Which one do you want to go down?"
"I dunno" She says. "I'm too young to go alone. You pick"

"Alright, let's go to that one at the end!" You say.
"No! Noooo!" Daisy shouts, as she grabs you by the sleeve and tries to pull you away.

"Relax, I'm just kidding" You say, even though you are kind of curious about that one... you may have to come back for it. "How about the ne Lily went down?"
"Okay" She says.

You crawl over to where the slide is, letting Daisy in first so you can hold onto her while you go down.

Looking down, you see that this one is a steep, tight spiral that widens out towards the bottom.

"Ready?" You ask.
"Yeah!" Daisy says.

You hook one arm around her, and hold onto your hat with the other, and scoot forward until you slide down.

When you reach the bottom, Daisy is still giggling. You pick her up and head over to where Lily is waiting with her parents.

As you walk, you check on Coral. "Still with me?" You ask, lifting up the hat so she can respond.

A tiny arm pops out and gives you a thumbs up.

"All right" You say. "You get some rest"

As you approach Fran, Lily, and Lance, Stella and Gabby come out of the ladder entrance and head over.

"Everybody hungry?" Fran asks.
"Yes" You reply.
"Starving!" Lily says.
"Let's go eat, then" Fran replies.

That's all for tonight!

When you come out of the playroom, you spot Derrick, Emi and Ilica sitting together at a table. Emi notices you, raises herself up, and waves you over.

"I'm being called" You say to Stella.
"I can see that" Stella says. "Go on. I'll catch up"

You hand Daisy off to Fran, and head over to Emi.

"Hey" You say.
"Hey!" Emi says. "We got food for you. Come sit!"

You see an empty chair in between Ilica and Derrick with a plate of food in front of it, so you go to sit down and-

Right now she's wearing a light blue dress, with a ribbon on the front, and another in her hair in front of her right ear...

You're well into your meal, listening to Stella tease Ilica for being so nervous, when you feel something gnawing at your leg.

You sigh, and check under the table.

"Is my leg tasty?" You ask
"What's up?" Ilica asks, as she looks down as well. "Oh. See what I mean?"

Grabbing her would probably just make her angrier. This doesn't really hurt all that much, and you're still hungry. So you shrug and continue eating.

You hold up a hand to stop her. "This is fine" You say. "She'll tire herself out eventually"

The candles all go out, and the people cheer.

The cheering wakes Vivian, who panics and starts scratching your face again.

"Okay, stop that you" You say, as you pull the kitten off your neck.

The people get a chuckle out of that...

"Okay!" Fran says, clapping her hands. "Who wants cake?"
