In the late seventies through the early nineties, drug violence in South America only continued to escalate. A successful revolution by the IRA in Ireland encouraged similar revolts in central Africa that devolved into decades-long civil wars, and resulted in a USSR faction in the Russian government. Human trafficking for both the organ and the sex trades exploded between south-east Asia and eastern Europe. In the face of such chaos, government run militaries and various agencies were too caught up in red tape to be effective. Frustrated with procedure causing a lack of results, the wealthier citizens of the world turned to someone who would not be weighed down by the bureaucratic process.

Now, in 2032, the private military industry is a widely accepted fact of life, a necessary evil for the security of the world. While some resent these men for what they represent, still more turn to them when government forces would fail.

You are Jan Kowalski, a Polish special forces operator turned private military contractor. In return for cash and other liquid currency, you, and men like you, go places national militaries refuse, and that local police forces avoid.

Last time on Contractor Quest: You boated in, shot some bright young men, and captured a high value target
>>
Starting today with a little disclaimer.

I lost my drive to do CQ due to the episodic nature the quest had taken on. While I understand that the way private contractors operate will lend itself to 'go here, shoot these people, rinse, repeat' type story, I think that anons choosing more social story-type situations will go a long way towards my continued interest and running of this quest.

I'll do my part to make sure that you know what 'social and story-oriented' choices will be, and I'll do my best to be sure that I'm keeping my own drive going.

Taking questions and comments for as long as you guys have them through the thread. Gay life story over, actual CQ coming now.

“Well,” Roman asks over the comms system, irritated at the wait. “Is there a fucking plan, or are you just going to sit there staring at each other?”

“We’re makin’ a fucking decision,” Harris growls into his throat mic. “So sit on your boat and keep heads down. The real men are making choices.”

With Bryant mumbling something over comms, Harris turns to you and Yves. There’s a scattering of shots as Cooper sets a burst into the small house-sized buildings.

“What do we want to do,” he asks. “We could just go door-to-door for the rest of the buildings, but that got me shot. Next person may not be so lucky as to get an armor hit,” he says, motioning to the hole in his carrier, and the dent in his armor.

“I’m not sure how many tear gas grenades we have left,” Miller says in his french accent, “but we could circle up outside and try to smoke them out.”

“Let’s go the safe route,” you say to the other two men. “They told me I don’t get any more robotic parts.”

Harris just nods, and Miller stifles a laugh as they make towards the door. O’Neal is drooling, facedown, his eyes puffing and his nose running like a faucet. He won’t be going anywhere unless you drag his fat ass out.

Heading down the wooden stairs and out the door, the three of you file down the walkway to the nearest building. Cooper and Roman change their firing to keep you out of the danger zone.

You line up on the door, you and Harris on one side, Miller on the other. They look to you to get the grenade in. You have a few to choose from.

You lean over, grabbing the half rotted door handle, popping the wooden door open just a few inches, a smoke grenade in your hand.

You toss it in underhand, careful not to hit the door or it’s frame, and quickly shut it. You back up a step, the barrel of your shotgun steadied on the door

You hear the hiss of the grenade delivering it’s payload, and the swearing and coughing of those caught inside. It wouldn’t do any damage, and it would probably dissipate in a few minutes, but the gangbangers inside didn’t know either of those things. They burst out the door, two men tripping over each other and ending up on their faces, and the man behind them tumbles well past the plank walkway and into the water. Gators swarm the area, and a sick part of you wants to watch. The rest of you wishes the screaming would stop.

Two men rush out, far more aware of the situation than their comrades. One is holding a bare-bones M4, and the other some blocky looking pistol you didn’t get a good view of

You burst into action, swinging the barrel of your saiga around, placing it neatly on the chest of the man with the rifle, the real threat. Two shells of buckshot later, his chest cavity is blown out an exit wound in his back, and he falls. A gator jumps up to snatch an arm dangling over the edge, and drags the limp, lifeless cadaver down into the feeding frenzy.

You quickly shift your aim to the final standing man, perforating him with another two shells of buckshot. The first shot hits his lower abdomen, doubling him over while the second hits his shoulder, knocking him back. He screams as he bleeds onto the walking deck.

Miller shoots the first man in the pile at the door, but it seems he’s wearing soft armor. He makes a good shield for the man on the bottom, who has taken the time to grab a pistol from somewhere underneath him and his now-dead friend. He seems unsure of who to aim at right now, but you doubt he’ll take long to make up his mind.

You and Yves both pop into action. Miller pops three quick rounds in the gang bangers upper back, and you shred his right leg with yet two more shells of buckshot. By your count, you’re down to 14 shells in the Saiga’s drum by now. The final threat well and truly dead, the three of you breach the house, finding it somewhat difficult to see through the red smoke.

What you do find, however, is several backpacks full of what appears to be cocaine, and a large, long crate in one corner. Harris walks over to it, pulling out an obscenely large knife, and pries it open. Inside lie ten sparkling new M4 rifles, with what appear to be full-auto capability.

>Combat over
>Jan and Miller combined for one kill

>Loot
>11 M4s 5.56, 1 HiPoint c9 9mm, 1 Remington 870 12 ga, 1 Glock 17 9mm
>Would you like to take any loot? Any looted weapons will be dropped when switched out. You can also load some into the boats, but the client may find out and be upset.

“That went pretty well,” Miller says, about as close as the middle-aged man will ever get to a compliment. “Should we try it again, kick in some doors old-fashioned style, or try something new?”

>Smoke them out (Using what?)

You grab one of the pristine M4’s from the crate, throwing your Saiga over your shoulder on it’s sling. You scavenge up four mags from around the room, loading one in and putting a round into battery.

“Better hope the client doesn’t find out,” Harris says watching you fiddle with the rifle. “They want their evidence, but I won’t say shit.”

You give him a nod, and he smiles, heading for the door of the next small shack. You line up just the same, you and Harris on one side, Miller on the other. You pop the last of your smoke grenades inside, and hear the tell-tale release of it’s contents.

Four men burst out the door, two covering their mouths and coughing, both holding beat up AK model rifles. The other two, however, seem aware enough to have weapons at the ready. One is pulling an old m1 carbine up towards you and Harris, while the other is currently trying to get a bead on Yves with a sawn off pump shotgun

>4 enemies, 2 momentarily in capacitated with AKs, 1 with an m1 carbine, 1 with a sawn off shotgun
>Extremely close range

You quickly hit the man drawing on Miller just as Yves shoots him as well, tearing the man apart in a small hail of bullets. He drops to the walkway, his torso a bleeding, gory mess

You shift your aim slightly, and gun down the man with the carbine who falls to his knees clutching his throat, the rifle clattering beside him.

Harris, behind you, fires a burst from his MP5, catching one of the dazed men in the let arm and shoulder. The man spins around, but does not drop his rifle. He’ll be shooting one handed, but at this range, it may not matter.

You fire at the wounded man, hitting him with two of your three rounds. As he drops to the ground, you hear the report of Harris’s suppressed MP5 hit him thrice more. The gangster is dead before he hits the ground, blood pooling around him. In his death throes, however, he knocks Miller’s barrel down as he fires, the rounds punching through the walkway harmlessel into the water below.

You nearly panic before instantly regaining composure, placing the bead of the M4 neatly on center mass of the final combatant as he draws his rifle onto ou and Harris. Three rounds strike him just below the sternum, and he drops to his back, coughing up blood and chunks of viscera.

>Combat over

>Would you like to take anything? You will need to drop either your M4 or your saiga

Yves quickly enters, you following, and you clear the small hut. It’s very obviously a meth lab. Smells like death and chemicals, with various heating elements coated in carbon and who even fucking knows. A number of large beakers are bubbling with with some odd yellow liquid.

“Fucking hell,” Harris says as he enters. “These guys were in some nasty shit. Glad we didn’t use a frag or a flashbang in here,” he finishes as he goes around, turning off heating plates.

“Would have been bad news for us,” Yves says, eying the concoctions nervously. “Getting blown off a rickety bridge and into waiting gators.”

Harris chuckles, and is about to say something when there’s commotion from the next building, followed by a smattering of gunshots.

“I’m tagged,” Roman shouts over comms. “Right arm, just a graze. Gonna need some support out here,” he yells, his voice slightly garbled by the radio.

“They’re taking shots at me, too,” Cooper says calmly into his own comms as you hear the booming of his 249. “If you guys don’t mind…” He lets it trail off.

You can hear the offenders outside, yelling at the other buildings. You aren’t sure how many there are.

“I’m gonna head up and take the heat off of Roman,” you say, leaning the M4 against a wall to load a fresh drum of slug in, putting the half-used one in an empty pouch. “You to go around and through the big building and hit them from the other side, okay?”

“You go it,” Miller says as Harris nods and heads for the door. “Don’t get shot.”

You grab the m4 by the handguard, holding the saiga by the pistol grip, feeling a lot like an action hero. You burst out the door, the other two right behind you peeling left, and hit the corner of the closest building with a thud. You drop the M4 into the walkway, and pop out of cover sending two slugs down range. You lift one of the men off his feet with the force, and watch him drop to the ground, dying.

His friends return fire with a pair of m4’s and an uzi, at least one round catching you in the chest before you make it back around the corner. Your hand instinctively rises up to the impact site, feeling the small crater underneath a ruined drum of buckshot. You don’t think the round went through, but you can already feel the bruising begin.

You hear a few cracks as Roman takes a trio of shots at the men with his AUG, and a scream paired with the coughing of Cooper’s SAW. Peeking around the corner, the man holding the uzi is on his back, trying in vain to get air to his ruined lungs.

This cover is going to degrade if they realize they can shoot at you anyway. You need to get inside. The big two-floor building will be the best option, and you can link up with Miller and Harris if you need to.

You burst from cover, sending a pair of slugs down range as you sprint to the door. You don’t hit much, not even enough to keep heads down, but a loud set of shots from Cooper takes one of the men in the leg, dropping him to his ass. He crawls back, leaning up against the building, and the two of them take shots at you.

They explode around your feet as you run, but ultimately do no harm to you. The door nearly explodes off it’s hinges as you enter the building, and you turn around, backing into the ‘man-cave’ esque room. Your saiga is pointed at the door as you creep up towards the wall. You hear Miller and Harris run through the back of the room behind you, and they’re almost out the door when you snap your head back to check.

You can hear the men outside shouting to their friends in the other buildings, and assume that they’re asking for help.

You pull the pin on your final 9bang, and toss it towards your two opponents. You also swear at yourself in Polish as you watch it roll uselessly into the water below. Still, the loud explosions and the spraying of water is enough to distract them for a moment, and you finish off the wounded man without needing to worry about return fire.

Miller and Harris both send bursts at the final man, but they both miss, and he disappears around the corner of the building.

“Taken cover behin-” is as far as Miller gets before a burst of shots ring out, and you hear him swearing in French as he and Harris duck back inside the large center structure. He drops to a knee as he ditches a pair of magazines, breathing a sigh of relief. “Need new armor, and new pants, but I’m okay. There are about five more of them out there now, Kowalski.” He finishes by explaining to you their positions, and rises back up to take a position across from the door, using the staircase as cover.

There’s a small exchange of gunfire, and Cooper screams into the comms.

“Left shoulder,” he says, clearly through gritted teeth. “Pretty bad. Pulling out to stop bleeding. Got one. Four left,” he finishes as you hear the jon boats engine rev up, bringing Cooper and his 249 out of the fight.

There is a chair on the other side of the door from you, a couch that the chair is facing, and a table with several sidearms and playing cards on it. Harris has also thrown a small end table in front of the door, preventing easy entrance, but also easy exit.

There is a second floor that I don't want to draw because it'll fuck with the map, but there are a number of similar tables and pieces of furniture, most of it shot to absolute shit. Both floors have somewhat evenly spaced windows every ten feet or so on each side wall.
>>

Gather the pistols and take them to the second floor. Then try to peak out the window to see if we can find an easy shot. Use our M4 we should have, because the range is too far for our sgotgun

“Get upstairs,” you shout towards Nathan and Yves as you sprint for the other door. “I’ll keep them out there, take shots from the second floor windows.”

They both make their way up the stairs as you hit the staircase yourself, using it as cover.

You hear a man cursing in ebonics as Roman takes a few shots. “Gotta reload. More coming out. Looks like they’re about to rush the door.”

You take aim at the door, and send a pair of slugs down as the men try to vault the small table. You hit one man in the shoulder, and he drops his left arm to his side, unable to use it. He backpedals in a real hurry, you assume to try to save the arm. The surprise of the shots causes one man to trip over the table, and he sprawling to the floor inside. The rest scatter outside. You kill the downed man with another set of shots.

“Three more outside,” Yves says down the stairs at you. “Seven total now, including one bleeding like a pig.”

>Round 4, over
>7 enemies total, 1 with a handgun, grievously wounded

“Jones, how’s it going,” Harris says over the comms, stress starting to enter his voice.

“Most of the bleeding’s done,” Cooper responds, clearly in pain. “Bandanging now. Should be back in like,-”

“Whatever,” Harris grumbles, “just get the fuck back here. We need firepower.”

Got really fucking sick of critfails. Which sucks, because I feel my d100 system was slick as shit.

Stopped using it after the millionth critfail blinded Jan and Harris for a turn with like 6 enemies upstairs. Luckily, Yves rolled super clutch and saved the day. Moved to 3d10 after that.

Do we have Egor with us?

Switch to Egor and just shoot the door and spread and pray through the walls to hit the enemies

They on walk ways and the pass the door is a walkway so it should work.
>>
>>755352
Egor is currently on the boat with... Roman? I think. I'd have to check the archives, but he is not currently with you
>>
>>755357
Should have brought him with us. Alright switch to M4 and shoot the door they should be line up on the walk way for us to spread and pray. There going to have to go through a hail of bullets if you want to reach us.
>>
>>755357

Yeah, we brought Egor on the boat, but he isn't on our person.

Can we see the north door from here? It seems like they'll try to rush that next, or both doors at once..

I'm split between going aggressive, or going up to the 2nd floor and just covering the stairs. Though that worked out poorly for the previous occupants.
>>
>>755302
Do we have any frags? We are in a bit of a spot it looks like.
>>
>>755357
Egor must be mad angry at missing the degenerates removal
>>

I think we brought mostly smoke, teargas, and flashbangs. The cops wanted evidence and explosives would probably collapse these shanties.

>>755368

We'd have to know they were there first.

Like so, with pink dots being your line of sight? Yes, you can.
>>
>>755505
Let's go with that plan we're in sight of the door and can blast them if they get in.
>>
Assuming our mates upstairs have got in position now they should be able to fuck up anyone on the walkways outside since I don't imagine there's a lot of cover or that these thugs are paying attention to the upper floor windows.
That should make it a lot harder for the crime to group up and rush a doorway again.

I'm thinking we stay down here putting slugs through the doors anytime it even smells like someone's gonna come through.
Or we head upstairs, find somewhere to lie prone near the top of the stairwell where we can continue to cover the likely entrances and maybe drop our last CS grenade downstairs to slow anyone who makes it through our initial hail of fire
>>
>>755505
Yes, that's what I meant.
It improves our cover, and while being in the far corner would be better, to get there we'd have to run past a couple open windows and expose ourselves to fire.

Better to keep the gangers' attention at our door, so that the two upstairs can start raining fire down on them.

You climb about halfway up the stairs to get both better cover, and a better shot. You rest the shotgun on the banister of the staircase, and take aim at the door. A few moments later, they try to rush it from outside.

You plug one man as he tries to push the table out of the way, and take shots at another behind him, killing both. You watch three more men fall dead, a hail of gunfire coming from your teammates rifles.

“One left, he dropped the gun,” Bryant says from outside. “Looks like he’s surrendering, guys.”

You shift your body to get a view, and sure enough, the man’s standing alone, hands in the air.

“Roman and Miller,” you say softly into comms. “I’m gonna have him come in. If he twitches, or anyone else comes out, pop him.”

They reply in the affirmative, and you can hear Miller shifting around to get a decent shot on the man, should he need to.

“Place your hands behind your head, turn around, and back slowly up to me,” you shout as you move down the stairs, closer to the door. “Is there anyone left in the buildings?”

“Mayne, how da fuck am I spossed to know who came out and got they ass shot” he yells back, carefully stepping over the bodies of his former comrades. Eventually, he arrives at the door. You drop his hands and zipcuff them behind his back, and pull him into the building, forcing him into the couch on the far side of the room.

“We still need to clear the other buildings,” Harris says as he and Miller descend from the second floor. “Don’t need to get ambushed trying to clean up.”

“We’ve done this before,” Miller says as he slaps a fresh magazine into his rifle. “Who’s going first? We’ve all taken armor hits.”

“I’ll volunteer for door-kicking duty,” you offer, loading new slugs into your saiga. “It’s why I bought this thing in the first place,” you finish as you bring the shotgun into a low ready.

“Let’s line up, then,” the gruff old medic says as he turns towards the door, kicking the small nightstand out of the way.

You and Miller exchange a look, and both roll your eyes as you follow Harris outside, carefully stepping over bodies of downed men.

Yves and Nathan take positions on either side of the door to the first building, and they give you the all ready.

You rear back, and plant your boot directly next to the handle of the thin wooden door, sending it crashing in. Using the momentum, you rush into the room and peel off to the right, ready to shot anything. You hear Harris with his MP5 come in behind you clearing the left side of the small room as Miller comes in last, his M4 sweeping the center.

You find nothing but boxes upon boxes of TVs and various gaming systems, likely stolen or fenced.

“Nothing,” Harris says, almost disappointed at the lack of a firefight. “Next building.”

You line up again, ready to repeat the procedure. As you kick in the door and rush inside, you feel a pair of hands roughly grabbing you by the shoulders, pulling you inside. You hear Haris shout something, but can’t quite make out what it was. You feel a fist come in from the side, but it hits your helmet awkwardly, and you avoid the worst of a punch.

You manage to get the shotgun between you and the man grabbing you and shove him off of you.

Taking account of the situation, you see one man, unarmed, directly beside you and a man in front of you pulling a bloody meat cleaver off a staut table that seems and smells like it’s been used to process gator and other poached animals.

“-an’t get a shot, Kowalski, get out of the fucking way!” you hear Harris shout from behind you, fear evident in his voice.

You let the saiga drop to it’s sling as you pivot on your left foot, dropping low. The man tries to sprawl over the tackle, but is too slow and you drive him about five feet back before dropping him into the wooden floor. You try to rear back to rain down blows, but he grabs the front of your plate carrier, keeping you pulled in tight. You settle for a few weak hooks to the side of his head, while he drives a punch into your side.

“State qualified in high school wrestling, nigga,” he shouts, his rancid breath hot on your face.

Harris steps into the doorway, his SMG raised. He fires two bursts, neither hitting as the man rushes forward. He swings the cleaver wildly, but Nathan knocks the blow wide with a strike from the barrel of his weapon.

Miller swears in french, unable to enter the building to get a shot off.

You bring your hand down to your belt, drawing the kukri from it’s kydex sheath. Oddly, over all the chaos, you hear the rasp as the blade slides out.

As the blade comes up, the man pulls you into a vicious headbutt. You feel rather than hear your nose break, and his face is instantly covered in your blood. He takes your moment of confusion to push you up with one hand, and deliver a devastating hook with the other. There’s a very sharp pain in your mouth, and you taste yet more blood over the rush from your nose.

As you spit out the mouthful of blood, you slash the kukri at his arm holding you out. He screams as you cut it deep to the bone, severing muscle and connective tissue alike.

You drop back down, face to face. “Should have taken a scholarship to college then, bitch,” you say, blood and spittle spraying off of your face. “Then, you wouldn’t be getting your ass kicked by a former spec ops operative, mother fucker.”

Harris dodges another slash from the cleaver, and brings the MP5 up, striking the jaw of the man and forcing him back. Taking a step back, he raises the gun up taking three shots. One strikes the assailant in his shoulder, wounding him.

>Round 2, over

You hack once more, slicing cleanly across his as you bob your head to dodge a punch. You turn the huge knife over into an underhand grip, and drive it down into his stomach as he delivers a pretty solid uppercut to your jaw. The stab has done it’s damage, though, and despite your rattling teeth and cloudy vision, the man coughs in a fit, blood flying out in droplets onto your uniform. He probably won’t last another three or four minutes.

Harris takes advantage of the fact that his quarry was spun around by the bullet wound, and rushes forward. He knocks the cleaver out of the man’s hand as he forces him to the ground in a football tackle, and has the man on his stomach. He rises up, a knee in the small of the man’s back and one hand forcing his head into the floor as the other reaches for a zip cuff.

>Combat over
>1 unarmed enemy, dying (Face, left arm, chest, stomach)
>1 enemy with a meat cleaver, seriously wounded (left shoulder), disarmed, prone, grappled
>Kowalski, moderately injured (ribs, nose, jaw x2, possible concussion)

>Loot
>1 rusty meat cleaver, a bunch of untanned animal hides including, but not limited to: Alligator, deer, python, and panther

You roll off the man as he bleeds, and look at Miller as he tries to help Harris secure his prisoner.

“He made that worth your while,” he says, eyeing your badly broken nose and the gout of blood pouring from both it and your mouth. “Need Harris to take a look at that, or do you want to get this done with?”

>Have Harris check you out
>Don’t

Whether or not you do, what’s your plan of action?
>>
>>758065
>Have Harris check you out
We've got the time.
And with all the gators around outside, I don't want to be bleeding.
>>
>>758065

Have Harris check us out, at least long enough to stuff something up our nose to control the bleeding.

We still have two buildings to clear, don't we?
>>
>>758087
Just one. The first you checked was uneventful. A bunch of stolen electronics, but no people.
>>
>>758065
>>Have Harris check you out
Those panther skins are probably worth something
Then proceed to clear the building
>>
>>758092

The panther and gator skins are probably illegal as hell, and count as 'evidence.'

This is one of those missions you probably don't want to grab tertiaries on.
>>
>>758065
Have Harris check us out then clear the remaining building.

Don't we still have a cs grenade remaining? Can weuse that in the last building?
>>
>>758092
>wanting to grab stuff from the scene when our clients is the fucking police department
What the fuck is wrong with you? Did you completely forget who our clients are and what they told us?
Even after we got warned about it in this very thread?
>>
>>758183
Yeah, that's probably true. Anyway, lets just clear that last building
>>
You nod in the affirmative as you stand, and Miller taps Harris on the shoulder and motions over towards you. The medic nods and allows the french expat to take over, standing and walking over towards you, leaning against one of the slaughter tables.

You’re a bit surprised when he walks past your bleeding face and kneels down next to the dying man you had engaged. He spends a few moments looking over his wounds, especially the stomach, before leaning in. He says something softly as he retrieves a needle from his pouch and sticks it into the man’s upper arm. He stands wordlessly, and walks up to you

Still silent, he examine your nose before, without warning, he sets it. You groan, but the pain lessens immediately, and the bleeding slows a lot as well.

“Shove these up each nostril,” he says, tearing up smalls trips of gauze he from a roll in his pack. “It’ll stop the bleeding sooner or later. I can do fuck-all about the cut in your mouth. Let me check you for a concussion, though.”

He does a few tests, most involving a flashlight, before he is satisfied.

“A minor one, but still a concussion. You’ll be in the back for breaching the last building, and don’t do anything strenuous for a week or so,” he says as he replaces the flashlight into his belt. “See the doc when we get back, though. Don’t fuck around with brain shit.”

With that, he packs up and leaves the small building. Miller shrugs at you, and motions for you to follow.

The breaching of the last building goes over without incident, seems a general storehouse for the illicit goods that couldn’t fit in their designated buildings.

Harris radios in for the detective team, and the five of you settle in for a few hours.
The detectives arrive, the same portly man speaking rudely to Harris.

“What the fuck is this,” he growls, his jaw trembling with anger. “We told you to take prisoners!”

“We did,” Harris says flatly. “Four, I think.”

“Five,” Miller corrects him without looking up from his phone. “But one is O’Neal, so I’m not sure if he counts.”

“There,” Harris says smugly. “We took five prisoners. And a few bodies fell into the water. Doubt you’ll be recovering those.”

That sets the fat man shouting, and a brief but loud argument erupts between him and Harris.

It’s not quite settled after fifteen minutes, but you’re on an airboat with the other four anyway, heading back to the Helipad to take you to the plane.

A few hours, and you’re stowing your equipment bag in the overhead compartment of Impact!’s plane as you try to decide where to sit.

Roman is flipping through his phone, a partially bloodied bandage on one arm. Cooper is currently receiving medical attention from Harris, one arm in a sling, and Miller is writing something in a thin paperback book.

“That clearing op was a bit of a shitshow,” you say as you take a seat across from Cooper. “Any way to clear that up? I didn’t do a whole lot in the service.”

“Not really,” Cooper says, shrugging with his good shoulder. “Can’t do a whole lot when they’re expecting you. Besides, as far as the clearing goes, only injury was a busted up face. Not too shabby. Me and Roman got hit when they came storming out.”

“Nothing to be done but do it,” Harris says as he disinfects Cooper’s wound now that they’re out of the swamp. “Could have gone worse. Would have been damn near perfect if they hadn’t grabbed you. Not that I blame you, kid,” he says, locking eyes with you. “I want you to know that. Like Jones said, it can be a fucking mess when they know you’re coming. We’re lucky they didn’t just shoot us through doors.”

You nod, taking it in. Maybe more time in Impact!’s killhouse would help you. Other than that, it’s just a matter of hoping they don’t hear you coming.

“Any plans for the immediate future,” you ask in general. Most contractors have set schedules after a mission.

“Gonna go see my kid up in Virginia till the next time I need to set up for a mission,” Harris says. “Not easy being a father a few states away, but I try to make it work.”

You remember something about a Melanie, and how he’s usually unavailble for a few weeks after a mission. Putting two and two together isn’t difficult.

“Normally I’d charter a saltwater fishing trip,” Jones says through gritted teeth as Harris deals with his wound. “However, I doubt I’ll be doing much but having surgery and lazing around for the next month.”

You nod, and remember your own gunshot wounds. That was not a fun month, even with the new hand to play with. You do not envy Cooper’s next few weeks.

You thank them for the time, and find your own seat. It’s not easy sleeping with a broken nose, nor is it a long flight, but you take a small nap nonetheless. You’re awoken when the pilot announces that you’re landing at the base. Now that guy has a cushy job, just flying operators around and waiting for them to bring them back.

You take your duffle bag, struggling with the weight of Egor, the saiga, and the armor, but eventually make it to your car waiting at the runway. Sitting in the idling vehicle, you consider your options.

You’re technically supposed to get debriefed by Tiffany if any combat is experienced on a mission, but that is waived if you’re wounded and go to the med wing. However, you aren’t quite sure if a broken nose and slight concussion counts towards that. Not like you were shot or stabbed.

>Doc isn’t about to unbreak your face. Go get paid.

You drive the short distance from the airfield to the base. In the car, you get a look at your self in the rear-view mirror. It’s not a pleasent sight. One of your lips is quite swollen, and your nose is puffy and pink, not to mention the flakes of dried blood and the bruising that’s begun to swirl under your eyes.

Eventually you end up in the parking lot, and walk inside. You swing by the armory to drop off your equipment and change into clothes that aren’t soaked in blood and sweat.

In running shorts and a cut off T-shirt, you make your way down to the med wing, passing few people. It’s pretty early in the morning, and contractors tend to not like the 9-5 lifestyle. It’s just as well, odds are there would only be crude jokes about your face anyway.

Regardless, you end up in the med wing, and the redheaded receptionist cringes a little on seeing you. She replaces it with a professional smile, and simply motions you towards Doc Robinson’s office.

“You’re becoming a regular guest, mister Kowalski,” he says as he stands from his swivelling office chair. “Take a seat on the examination table, and we’ll set that nose for you.”

“Harris was worried about a concussion, too,” you tell him. “Told me not to fuck around with it.”

“Indeed you do,” he says after a few moments of examination. “Nothing to be worried about, but don’t be doing anything stressful for a week or so. I’ll trust you, though, and not pull you from contracts. This is going to hurt,” he finishes as he raises his hands to your nose.

It did. You stifled a shout and the bleeding started slowly again. Not long after it’s under control, he sits back down in his chair and begins typing on his keyboard.

“Anything else, Jan,” he asks of you politely.

“How long you been doing this, Doc,” you ask of the middle aged man.

“Thirty some odd years,” he says. “Been with Impact since the start, twenty six years ago. I was the first doctor they signed on.”

“That’s a long time,” you answer, impressed. “What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen working with contractors?”

He strokes his graying goatee as he thinks of an answer. “Right when the company first started, back before McDaniels really knew what he was doing, we had a guy on mission in North Africa. Not real bright, you see,” he says, pointing to his head. “Got bitten by a snake. So what he does, he kills it, and puts it in his pack. Brought it back to me about three days later. Was afraid it was venomous. First off, it wasn’t, and secondly if it was, he would have been dead before the next morning. That one’s always confused me. How someone that dumb can survive in this job.”

“That’s ridiculous,” you answer, and trade a few stories back and forth. You didn’t even know people could survive so many helicopter crashes.

Eventually, you thank the good doctor for his time and begin heading to the HR wing to get paid. Knocking o Tiffany’s door as you enter, you take a seat across from your handler.

“You look like shit,” the purple haired rep says eyeing your busted and bruised face.

Gorillas means we're limited to what ammo we have on us, and fuck that when it comes to supernatural shenanigans.

“Good luck with that,” Tiffany says, going over the mission briefing. “This whole batch just reeks of some weird shit.”

“True that,” you answer, “what’s going on with the world.”

“I’m not even sure,” she says as she digs a clipboard out of her desk. “Now, time to debrief you and make sure you aren’t going off the rails.”

You groan as she begins asking the same five questions in different ways for about half an hour. Mercifully, it ends as she places the paper in a large yellow envelope to be sent off to legal later.

“Clients notes mention that the cult has ties to various extremist and rebel groups, whether for arms or members, they don’t know,” she says pulling it back up on her computer. “Also say the resort has a few wide-open courtyards and a number of indoor areas, so you may want to bring something that can do both.”

“I’ll have a few options, and the money to buy something if I’m not happy with it,” you answer, waving away her worries.

Heavy machine gun? Doesn't feel all that useful to me.

Drone and medic might come in handy, and shotguns are always useful for room clearing.

I'd suggest picking up something like the M27 IAR as our primary weapon. Designed as a morr maneuverable automatic fire replacement to the SAW but precise enough to play the designated marksman role if we put a good sight on top.

“I’ll schedule a few trainings while I’m here, I suppose,” you say, not wanting to get rusty on your week or so off. “And how hard would it be to end up with some sort of pilot’s license?”

“Depends on the type,” she says as she types away, scheduling your training. “Fixed wing would be twenty five thousand for you. Rotary would be more expensive, about sixty thousand. And that’s before getting your hands on an aircraft.”

“I think I know a way to end up with an aircraft,” you say, giving your handler a smirk. “I’ll probably even get paid to do it, eventually,” you finish, leaning back in your chair somewhat proud of yourself.

“Good luck with that, Maverick,” she says as she finishes on her keyboard. “Anything else?”

“Yeah, actually,” you say as you stand. “I’m in enough money now to train the dog. Think you can bring the guy in?”

“Sure could,” she remarks as she goes back tapping on her keys. “Twenty five thousand, but you won’t pay him until the training is finished. Impact!’s half goes up front. Will that finally be all, Mr. Kowalski?”

“I think so, yes,” you answer, walking towards the door. “Thanks, Tiffany.”

See our dog.

I don't got anything against tats but come on guys, priorities.
>>
Heading home. Writing
>>
You decide to head home, for the first time in what feels like weeks. Your head is starting to get the better of you anyway, so you walk back out to the parking lot and clamber into your car.

The drive home seems longer than usual, but eventually you pull into the driveway, right next to Charlie’s car. He’s sitting on the couch as you walk in, lounged out with his feet on the coffee table.

“You look like shit,” he says, motioning to the bandaging and bruising over your nose and face. “No offense.”

“I’ve been getting that lately,” you answer, catching a leaping Casimir in your arms. You carry him over to the couch, and he curls up in your lap as you sit. Looks like Charlie just started a movie.

“Transformers 8: The Turtles Return,” he answers the unspoken question. “Just finished downloading.”

You watch the movie (which happened to shatter box office records), and as it ends around one PM, you have Casimir follow you upstairs, and sleep in your own giant, looted bed. You still aren’t sure how they got the damn thing in here without cutting the house apart. Casimir curls up at your feet, and you drift off.

The next three days pass slowly, and you barely leave the house. You and the dog have it to yourself most of the time, as Charlie spends his days between the vet clinic and Ioveta’s. This leads you to feed a multitude of animals, including four guinea pigs, two cats (which you have mentioned several times may not be a good idea with the small critters) and a giant parrot that has never liked you.

Your nose still hurts, and itches constantly, but you no longer have the slow, pulsating headache you did right when you got back from Miami, and you’re starting to get a little bit of cabin fever . Time to leave the house and do something. It’s currently about 3 PM

>Go get a tattoo. Skyler will conveniently invite you to get one with him and Jordan.
>Go buy guns and explosives. You’re starting to run a little low.
>Go to the base bar, see who’s around there
>Fuck cabin fever. Stay home.

I'VE BEEN MAKING A POINT OF COLLECTING CHARACTER ART FOR THIS QUEST AND I KEEP FORGETTING IT

Guns and Explosives, just to see what's in stock and what might be useful.

We should definitely grab some chemlights and restock on knockout darts.
>>
>>764547
>>Go buy guns and explosives. You’re starting to run a little low.
>>
>>764552

Once we're done training with this beautiful dog, we're getting him body armor.
>>
>>764547
>Buy guns and explosives
Let's get a battle rifle or something along those lines for this upcoming mission.

Also, do we have the DMR and SMG kits for the XM8? Since those could work, depending on how long they take to attach in the field.
>>
>>764589
Would probably make sense to do that earlier. Get him used to it, and training him with it could make sense.
>>
>>764748

An excellent point.
>>
>>764547
>Guns and explosives. You’re starting to run a little low.
More flashbangs. We have to take into consideration the opposition and the environment.
Throwable camera drones to look around corners, over walls, and into rooms would be nice.
>>
>>764928
I think we already have a dart pistol that can shoot camera drones, although I might be mixing quests together in my head.
>>
>>764928
We need a goPro or equivalent. To record all the crap we'll see. Seeing as we can get paid extra to bring back information on rituals and materials.
>>
>>765111

No camera darts that I recall, I think that was Disposable Assets Quest, may it RIP.
>>
>>765124
Nah, we do. Just checked character sheet.

>1 - Pneumatic pistol
>5 - Camera darts

Don't know how we access said cameras, but I'm guessing our smartphone can.
>>
>>765139
Damn, I didn't know camera and transmitter tech was that advanced in this quest. Yeah, lets load up on those too.

Still want a GoPro for helmet cam, I doubt the darts have batteries enough for long recording.

We have a drone guy coming with us, so he should be able to provide some recon of the courtyard, so I don't think we need to invest too heavily in camera stuff, but I think this time we should either pimp out the AK that we got, or maybe grab a rifle in a heavier caliber in case there's some supernatural shit and we need some more stopping power. My personal preference would be a G3A4, but any other 7.62 NATO should work.

This is a good point. GoPro's for everyone, and maybe even a digital camera in addition to our smartphone.
We're getting paid extra to bring back evidence, so let's make sure we grab it all.

Maybe even duct-tape a GoPro to our guns, so we have a gun-camera.
>>
>>765195
>>765262
What about Egor?
If we're going to be dealing with spooky shit, wouldn't the LMG with a spirit be a good gun to bring?
>>
>>765262
We already have a future AK, why not just get a few Beta-C or drum mags for it?

>>765270
Didn't see that bit about the mission, lets get one. Should also give us some good clips to show people when we get back about how badass we are, shooting demons and the like.

>>765289
Gun cams are a bit unwieldly, maybe we just slap one onto our shoulder next to a flashlight like pic related.

>>765298
We are going to be clearing buildings, a RPK isn't the best for that. Also with the other operators signed on, we need some more medium range shit.
>>
>>765298
Oh yes. These missions were just MADE for Egor.

For medium range, Saiga with slugs. You can hit accurately out to a hundred, two hundred yards with slugs.

Maybe talk to a priest about holy water, but I doubt we can do that without looking unstable.

Foldable stock and drums, best combo for confined spaces

The great thing with this mission isthat if Egor starts talking again other people might be able to hear him too.
>>
>>765347
>Foldable stock and drums
We got an accessory kit for Egor, but I don't remember what it included beyond the night-vision sight and some straps.
Does anyone else know?
>>
>>765452
No kit, just rails. Allows you to add scopes and stuff if you want.

Looks like we're going to the store. Writing before fucking off to work.
>>
You need to restock on a few things before you fly out to St. Vincent. Climbing in the car, you begin driving to the cleverly named warehouse.

As usual, the man at the desk hands you a brochure. You could just bring the old ones, not much really changes, but this is half the poor young man’s job, and you just don’t have the heart to take that away from him.

Driving the empty cart through the aisles of firearms, accessories, and explosives, you start picking from the shelving, curious as to just what you’ll need to fight ‘cultists’.

We should edit this down a bit, but this is what looks interesting and could be useful.
>>
>>766808
I'd rather pick up a burner gun from a mission. That way the ballistics won't be traced back to us.
This is an upstanding and legal gun shop, and I would expect them to have all serial numbers and riflings cataloged and cross-referenced with their customer database.
>>
>>767742

Yeah, but not our next mission. One talking gun is enough. A demonic talking gun might be too much even for Jan.
>>
>>766726

I think we do.
Do we really want only one of our plates to be IV?
Better to be safe and have both front and back Level IV's, right?
>>
>>767777
Well, I think we had two plates and our front one got damaged, so we only need one replacement.

Our inventory in the pastebin says we have one, so we should only need to buy one replacement.
Motioning to add:
>Level IV plate

And now I wonder if we can't carry spare plates on a mission and swap them.
>>
>>766643
Can we make the GoPro, camera, and camera accessories (if we're going to be in a dark place, having night-vision for our cameras would help) purchases here, or will we make a trip to an electronics store?

3x Gray Smoke Grenades
1x Level IV Plate
>>
>>766726
Aa12 sounds like a good purchase. Specially if we can get the bonus from attaching foregrip to it.

I've still got a boner for a m27 IAR but I guess our lmg makes that unecessary.

I'd say 1 GPS dart, 2 nonlethal and 4 camera would probably be enough. Maybe use the savings to buy an emp dart or 2 since most resorts have pretty good camera systems.

I'm voting we buy a fair number of grenades for this mission - plenty of smoke, 9bang, frag and cs. Having a few more grenades would have saved everyone from getting injured last op and now we're going up against fucking armsdealer-cultists! Plus, 12in of fishing line, a hook and duct tape is all you need to boobytrap a door in case we're worried about people sneaking behind us.

Helmet if we don't already have one. Thermal goggles, canine armour, bodycam. Think that covers it.
>>
>>768167
Keep in mind what we're going to be facing in terms of open areas, and that we can only have 1 Primary weapon.
We already have a shotgunner on this mission, and they specifically requested a combat rifleman.
Also throw into the mix that Egor is the only weapon we have that has a spirit, and may be the only weapon that can fight other spirits at both the spiritual and physical levels.
>>
>>768167
>>768201

Then we should try to mount a foregrip on Egor.

And text Miller that we're buying frag grenades. I'm sure that'll brighten his day.
>>
>>768201
Yeah, but slugs in a shotgun do just as well as a rifle out to 200 yards, and have more authority up close.

I'd really like to find a way to bring an AA12/Saiga and Egor at the same time, but Jan can only carry so much.
>>
Okay. Master list.

On all lists:

>IR goggles
>Level IV plates
>Red and Gray smokes
>9bangs

On one list:

>C4 Which I should mention you already have a bunch of
>Hi-Point c9
>XM8 PDW conversion
>XM8 DMR conversion
>Claymores
>AA12
>Frags
>A full sized battle rifle of some sort, specifically the G3A4

Can't be fucked to add everything up at 5 am, but I can answer a few questions. Vote yes or no on options, please. I know it's a pain in the ass, but the shopping by committee process always is.

A bodycam would be 400, one with nightvision and IR capabilities would be 600. They can be bought here.

PDW and DMR conversions will come with relevant scopes

You can bring one extra armor plate along, but you will not be able to change it mid combat. Likely, though, this will only be a problem for the ceramic and kevlar Level IV plates, and there's no reasonable situation you'll be taking enough fire to risk the integrity of a level III plate that won't just punch through it on the first round.

I won't fuck you guys for not bringing a talking gun to a possible demon fight.

May have missed something. If I did, bring it to my attention from this post, please.

My issue with Egor is room clearing, even if we have to cross a few courtyards, gardens and beaches I'd expect the vast majority of this mission to occur inside resort buildings where a lmg is going to be hard to handle.

Especially when I doubt the courtyards would be so big a shotgun with slugs won't do fine.
>>
>>770223

Really, Egor fulfills the role of a battlerifle for us. That's basically what he is, with a drum mag.

I think we should buy the AA-12 regardless of whether or not we take it on the mission. It's a good upgrade from our Saiga, we can afford it since it's much cheaper now, and they make minigrenades for shotguns.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shotgun#Specialty_ammunition the FRAG-12 specifically.

Firing that off on full auto should be...exhilarating.

>There is a camera available, but I really think we should spring for the $600 version.
The question is whether we should get one for everyone, or only for ourselves.
Getting one for everyone makes sure we get plenty of evidence, but it might be too expensive.
But if we bring only one, we risk failure of the camera or not being the one to catch a given supernatural event.

You push your heavily laden cart up to the desk, and the man at the counter begins scanning items. It really is a little shocking just how much like a supermarket this is.

As you wait, a cruel joke crosses your mind. You pull out your phone, and text Harris.

>To: Nathan Harris
>Just thought you’d like to know I’m buying a few frag grenades :^)

>From: Nathan Harris
>You keep the fuck away from me with those things.

You don’t think he saw the humor in that. Frowning, both at Harris’s lack of a funny bone and the money you’re about to spend, you swipe your card at the machine, and try not to cry at the amount of money getting taken out of your account.

“Threw in the conversion kit for free,” the man says as he fills two duffel bags with your purchase. “They don’t move for shit, and you spent fourteen grand anyway. Our little thank you,” he finishes as he slides the bags over to you, grunting.

You sling them over each shoulder, and pop them in your trunk. You return to the base and load the items up into your locker, filling it to the brim. Any more weapons, you’ll need to sign out a second locker again.

Shopping didn’t take too terribly long, and it’s still only about five pm. Plenty of time to get into some trouble.

Threw in the DMR conversion for fishgun since it was the only real discrepancy between >>770469 and >>770464 after the discussion on body cams. The armory is, scarily, not very far from the bar on base. You leave the well-armed locker room, and make your way down to the on-site drinking establishment.

Entering, you are immediately hit by a wave of noise and light, well hidden by the thick wooden door. This place is packed, and you can hardly find room to move. Seems like mostly support personnel, but you see a few groups of contractors at various tables. At the bar is a group of janitors, drinking and singing along with a song playing from the speakers in the ceiling.

At one table is a group of secretaries, including the one that works with Doc Robinson. They seem to be huddled around one woman in particular, and you can’t see what’s going on.

At another are two men, one black and the other white. Judging from the arms on the white one, and the scars on the black one, they are definitely contractors.

At a third table are Samuel Ball and Makuna Hekekia, nursing beers and laughing. Ball’s huge frame barely fits on the chair he’s in, and you can see the bartender glancing nervously over his direction occasionally.

You make your way through the crowded establishment, and pull up a chair across from Samuel and Makuna. Judging from the extravagant arm motions, the Hawaiian demolitions expert just finished telling the story of a massive explosion.

“Kowalski,” Ball says simply as you sit. “Heard you signed on to St. Vincent. Some spooky shit going on there, man.”

“Fuckin’ right,” you answer, throwing your head back. “All three options I got were creepy.”

“I steered away from this batch, man,” the hulking man says. “Unlike you two fools, I don’t mess with that kind of stuff.”

“An’ just what was I sp’ossed to do, man,” Makuna says defensively. “Let Party-N’-Paladin get eaten by psychos because neither can blow a door? You read the file an’ saw the video, man. You know how dead those two are if they get backed into a corner with a door that won’t open under the secondary generator.”

“That just makes all three of you dumb,” the former linebacker says as he nurses a beer. “Four of you, actually,” he says, tipping the bottle towards you. “I don’t fuck with demons.”

“It’s just some cultists with rebel ties,” you answer dismissively. “Probably aren’t even sacrificing people. Just recruiting to one of the half-dozen organizations.”

“Hopefully, brother,” Makuna says, his voice solemn.

"You thought about using a body cam, help collect secondary bonuses," you ask of Makuna, tyring to snap him out of his funk.

"No, actually," he says taking a draught of his beer. "I have a feeling I'm not going to want to remember this, anyway"

Just because we were fool enough to sign up for these contracts doesn't mean we can't be prepared.

“You both act like you never played through DOOM on insane,” you say to the pair, taking a drink of your own beer. “But you might want a lot of light,” you say to Makuna. “Chem lights, flares, that stuff. Wouldn’t want to be down there in the dark.”

“Oh, hell no,” he says back. “I have a mess of flashlights. Hadn’t thought chemlights, though, that’s a good idea. Freaks might flock to the brighter stuff.”

“You guys ever hit anything this size before,” you ask, hoping to get some advice. “I’ve never even been to a resort, much less taken one.”

“Close doors behind you, man,” Ball says, shaking his head. “That way, you don’t have to question if you left it open. Every door. Close it,” he finishes, pointing the bottle towards you.

“Keep overwatch,” Makuna says. “I know it’s obvious as shit, but having someone covering that huge an area is essential. More than one, if possible.”

You continue to talk shop with the pair for a while, but eventually the conversation winds down.

Seriously, the team asks for a rifleman and you want to bring a shotgun? When there's already a shotgun specialist on the team, and we only have 1 point in the skill?
>>
>>775971

A: as pointed out previously, shotguns work just fine at medium range, and even better when loaded with slugs.

B: Egor is everything we need in a battlerifle.

C: Training is going up, and Handler said we'd be getting an extra point in shotguns from our Saiga use.
>>
>>775975
We already got the point in Shotgun, Egor is a better choice for the upcoming mission than te AA-12. I don't see why you're even suggesting we might take the shotgun.
>>
>>776019

Because of the unknown? And that shotguns can fire multiple types of ammunition? I mean, it's like you're not even trying to imagine or see any viewpoint than your own.
>>
>>776019

It strikes me: You ARE aware that we don't have to carry every single piece of equipment we bring on our person, right? We took Egor on the last mission, he just never got used.
>>
>>776052
If you want to use other types of ammo with the shotgun, maybe you should have suggested we buy them.
Right now Egor provides more concrete advantages compared to the potential advantages of an AA-12 relative to the mission.

>>776071
And where would we put down the bag containing the extra equipment?
Last mission we left Egor with one of our teammates on a boat.
This mission, who is going to carry the extra weight, if not us? And if we leave the extra equipment in a bag, then we'd have to backtrack through the facility to get to the bag, switch out our equipment, then go to where the rest of our team is waiting. That assumes that the extra equipment will stay secured and our team is willing to wait while we make the trip.
>>
>>776100

Please read previous threads.
>>
>>776126
And what part of my post is wrong? We've been told we can bring extra equipment but that it will not be on our person and therefore not available unless we go to where the equipment has been stashed and we switch things out.
This was how things were explained in The mission with the human traffickers, and we had Gurkhas to carry out stuff for us in Nepal.
>>
>>776183

The part where you're arguing not to bring stuff when we don't have a full picture? We get our crap on the plane, then we get our indepth briefing and secure local transportation when we land. We have plenty of time to decide what not to take as our final loadout.

In short, what's wrong with your post is a lack of logic. At this point you're just arguing for the sake of argument.
>>
Sorry to break up the fight guys, but I'm archiving the thread. New one should be up in 3 hours or so, and we'll do some planning there.

Thanks for playing everyone!
>>
>>776350
Then please answer whether we'll have a safe place to store all the extra equipment we bring.
Could we even leave it in the plane, or is that against company policy?
