In the nightmare of the fortieth millennium, The Imperium Of Man knows no respite. For generations the Imperium of Man has waged a hopeless war on all sides, slowly crumbling to many threats, both within and without. Every hour the Imperium comes closer to its demise, billions of tormented souls cry out for mercy, for protection from their Emperor. Their Holy, Almighty Emperor who can do wrong, watches over all, and protects his people. Yet the Emperor has done nothing to protect his chosen people. Instead, he watches as millions are ripped apart by the Tyranid swarms, and the Ork hordes. He sits idle as the Eldar and Necrons devastate whole worlds in their vengeful wrath.

Why, you wondered. You believed in the Emperor's Truth and knew his power. But one day, when you'd planned to kill yourself in doubt, a voice spoke, and showed you a better way. At first you thought you mad, but the voice was very persuasive, and it told you of power, unimaginable power, to be yours for the taking. It told you of the truth, that the Emperor was no more than a rotting carcass. It showed you images of yourself, with all you've ever wanted, and more. The voice helped you realize the true might of the Ruinous Powers, and before leaving you, it gave you a holy gift, and one last command.

"Spread Chaos, and more yet shall come."

And so you shall, but first, who are you?

What is your name?

Who are you, know that you've been showed the truth?

A) A Space Marine gone rogue, forgotten by his former chapter.
B) An Imperial Guardsmen, one in millions taking matters into his own hands.
C) A mere man, one in countless trillions who has decided to make a difference.

You were shown the way because?

A) You lost your faith in the rotting corpse Emperor.
B) You became inflamed with a lust for wealth and power.
C) The loss of a loved one, turning you to darkness.

Where do you bring the Truth?

A) A backwards, superstitious Feudal world.
B) A verdant, fertile Agri-world/
C) A bustling, crowded Hive world.

Lastly, which of the Ruinous Powers spoke to you?

A) Khorne, the Blood God.
B) Nurgle, the Plague Lord.
C) Slannesh, the Dark Prince of Chaos.
D) Tzeentch, the Changer of Ways.

((OOC: Note, this is my first time running a Quest on 4chan, though I am an experienced GM. My knowledge of Warhammer 40k is sparse, so please forgive any errors on my part.))

((OOC: That was me, again, this is my first time running a Quest.))

>>839794

You are Thoth Talibah, a former Space Marine of the Blood Ravens. For decades, you were like your companions, filled with Zeal for the Emperor, obsessed with purging Xenos and Chaos in his name. For many years, you believed that there could be no other way, but sometime after a duel with a Greater Demon of Tzeentch, you began to feel doubt in your purpose. After all, where was the Emperor when your brethren were butchered? Where was the Emperor when those countless billions of innocent mortals were corrupted by Nurgle's Rot? Where was the Emperor when millions of Imperial Guardsmen cried out for healing as they laid dying? There could be only one answer, the Emperor was false.

The Powers Of Chaos were undeniably real, and unlike the Emperor, they actually cared about their followers and those who believed in them were granted Power. Power to enact their will, and bend the universe to their whim. Change, Chaos, the Warp's Shifting Madness. You've seen it in your dreams, and know of its matchless beauty. Only one Ruinous Power understands this. To that end, you have sworn eternal devotion to Tzeentch. In acknowledgement of this first step, he granted you the spark of sorcery, and while your power is pitiful as of now, with training it will increase.

You managed to escape your chapter's fleet in the middle of a naval battle with an Ork Waaagh in the Zerht System. You blasted a small escape pod out of the Cobra-class Destroyer you were assigned in, and fled to Zerht 3, a massive Hive World. You're certain that the Blood Ravens think you're dead, and won't bother looking, as they've already left the System. You landed your escape pod on top of a seemingly abandoned building in one of the many slums, and you fled the scene to avoid any prying eyes.

Its been one month since your betrayal of the Corpse-God, and you feel you've done quite well for yourself. Through careful speech, 39 mortal men and women among the dredges of society have been convinced to follow the Changer Of Ways. Though they have no skills worth mentioning, they are steadfast in their devotion. Due to their tithes, you have 2,000 Throne Gelts to your name. You've managed to find a fairly large chamber in an abandoned sewer that should meet you and your flock's needs for now.

You are standing before your followers, giving a speech, when one interrupts you, raising his hand. "Me Lord, pardon me. Talkin' 'bout followin' Tzeentch is good an' all, but when 're we gonna do somethin' worth doin'?"

Right now it seems like our acolytes are among the lowest dredges of whatever society we've landed in.

We should look into ways to acquire some weapons, and use our military experience to train them into a respectable, disciplined militant force.

When our people are not a bunch of toothless hobos, we should attract some more followers, and can potentially rent our people out as a private army to someone influential.

So it looks like Thoth will be hosting an orgy to raise morale,`spending 800 Throne Gelt to pay the cultists, 500 Throne Gelt to acquire cheap weapons, and training the cultists, all while trying to become involved in local politics? OK, update imminent.

Though the cultists are more than willing to serve without payment, I'm sure they'd appreciate the extra cash.
>>
[b]"Excellent question, brother Zachary. Before we sow the seeds of Tzeentch's Chaos, let us indulge in the pleasures of the flesh to show our devotion to the Changer Of Ways!"[b]

The cultists look somewhat confused, until they realize that you're talking about having an orgy in Tzeentch's name. You abstain yourself, and watch. They're not the most attractive mortals, that's for sure, but at the height of the festivities, you seem to sense a faint, pleasant hum in the air, and think for a moment, that something out there is watching this all, as if bemused.

[b]+1 Favor[b]

When the celebration ends, you dismiss the cultists as they probably won't be up to doing anything else today. You spend the rest of the day training your sorcery, to no avail.

The next day, the cult reassembles, and you begin to assign tasks to the faithful.

> 30 of the unskilled Fanatics are to train under Thoth
> 3 of the unskilled Fanatics are to purchase weapons on the black market using 500 Throne Gelt.
> 3 of the more charismatic unskilled Fanatics are to recruit more followers.
> 3 of the more intelligent unskilled Fanatics are to become involved in local politics.

((+6 due to Thoth's extensive military experience))

Over the next week the 30 cultists under your tutelage become more physically fit, and learn some basic hand to hand combat maneuvers. They would certainly be slaughtered by any disciplined force, and you could slay them yourself without trouble, but they're somewhat better than they were before.

[b]7-2=5[b]
((-2 because these are homeless drug addicts attempting to subtly recruit people into a blasphemous mystery cult))

The 3 Fanatics you've sent to recruit more faithful have done poorly, to say the least. 1 Fanatic doesn't return at all. The other 2 have managed to convince one depressed homeless person to investigate the cult for himself. You manage to impress him with your educated rhetoric, and obvious power, and he agrees to stay, though he doesn't yet swear devotion to Tzeentch.

[b]+3 doubtful cultists[b]

[i]Roll[i]

[b]13[b]

The 3 Fanatics you've sent to ingratiate themselves into local politics have gotten themselves jobs drug running for the Yehtti Klan, one of the local street gangs.
[b]3 Unskilled Tzeentch Fanatics have gotten jobs drug running. +30 Throne Gelt Weekly Income![b]

You consider paying the cultists with 800 Throne Gelt, but then reconsider. After all, isn't 800 Throne Gelt spent furthering the cause payment enough? When a week has passed, you feel that this world has come closer to True Change, but it cannot be denied that this may take awhile.

By the Emperor! Those formatting errors are hideous! /qst/, please forgive me, as this is my first time running a quest.

Is it possible to look through the cultists to see if any of them have psychic potential?
>>
Maybe spend a little money to... pimp up our guys ? Nice clothes, good food... if we want to draw people in, we have to attractive.
A better life is quite the promess in a hiveworld !
>>
>>844507
I'm not against this, but we don't wanna spend too much. We're still small. We need to establish first, make loyal minions a bit later.
>>
>>844521
You are quite right, but i can't really see how to establish... weapon and training are good, but we're not following Khorne here. We have to blend within the society, be a part of it, then overtrow it and change it.
Being... visualy respectable is a first step and an important one i think.
>>
>>844541
We can establish by making underworld and political connections, but I don't think we need to do that until after we've recruited for a bit more.
>>
>>844401

Technically, yes, but Thoth only has a spark of power himself. Until his psychic abilities have advanced further, he won't be able to scan the cultists for psychic potential.

Until now, you've simply let your followers wallow in rags. No more, you and your people are no Nurglite filth! Tzeentch's devoted shall be clothed in the finest fabrics mortal hands can produce, such is Tzeentch's will. You provide each of the truly devout cultists with 20 Throne Gelts, to provide themselves with more suitable clothing. [-770 Throne Gelts, +38 Fine Clothes]

You then give the Fanatics instructions to spread the word of Tzeentch, and to carefully construct a political foundation to build upon in the future. While the cult attempts to recruit new disciples and form new connections with the criminal underworld, you attempt to form connections with the powers beyond the veil.

*Recruitment Roll*

[9]

The cultists did an acceptable job overall, their fine clothing certainly helped, as did their promise of a better future. They managed to lure in 25 new members overall, though only 8 have seen the way.

[8 Unskilled Tzeentch Fanatics, 17 Doubtful Cultists]

[9]

The cult spreads its influence, slowly but steadily. 4 Unskilled Tzeentch Fanatics get jobs drug running for the Yhetti Klan. and for the Crimson Blades, another minor gang. 1 of the original drug runners gets promoted to running more, and more dangerous drugs.

[+4 Unskilled Tzeentch Fanatic Drug Runners, (+40 Throne Gelt Weekly Income)]
[-1 Unskilled Tzeentch Fanatic Drug Runner, +1 Street Smart Tzeentch Fanatic Senior Drug Runner, (+20 Throne Gelt Weekly Income)]

[14]

While the cult expands its influence, you practice the dark arts in the shadows of the cult's Hidden Sewer Lair. For several days, you meditate, muttering oaths and prayers to Tzeentch with every breath you breathe. Mentally reaching deeper and deeper into the Warp, you feel its power surround and fill you, but you are unable to reach out and touch it.

On the fourth day of the week, you inhale and feel the faintest shred of power come into your grasp, and in rapturous, fanatical joy you refuse to let it go. You grab more and more and more of the beautiful entropic might, and feel mightier than you've ever felt. Finally, when it feels as if you're going to burst, you exhale, and feel the power leave you all at once.

A glowing, ethereal gout of pink flame darts forth from your hands, faster than the eye can see, and a cultist is caught in the holy fires. She falls to the ground, shrieking in unspeakable agony as she bats at the flames and rolls in a panicked attempt to put out the fire, to no avail. You watch with glee as the Tzeentch's fiery wrath consumes her body, mockingly ignoring all attempts to extinguish its furnace-like heat. Three minutes later, the former cultist is burned to ashes, her corpse no more than cinders.

You stand after four days of meditation and bellow to your disciples, your voice echoing off of the sewer walls. "THIS IS THE POWER THAT TZEENTCH GIFTS ALL THOSE WHO SUBMIT TO HIS SANCTIFIED CHANGE! KNOW THIS, AND KNOW THAT HE WATCHES OVER YOU TODAY!"
(cont.)
>>
The present cultists fall to their knees, uttering praises to Tzeentch. All traces of doubt are swept away. You feel more power than you've ever experienced within yourself, and you mutter thanks to your dark lord.

Oops, typo. There are actually 56 cultists.
>>
>>845158
Let's have the cultists keep spreading the good word of the dark gods while we keep delving deeper into the secrets of sorcery. We need a lot of rabble on our side if we want to overthrow a hive planet. At some point, we should scope out for higher positions within the underworld if we're able to.
>>
>>845180
Also, let's attempt to get more assault rifles so that our entire militia can be armed.
>>
>>845180
>>845183

Keep in mind, there is nothing binding you to Zerht.
>>
>>845285
I didn't think so, but conquering a hive planet will surely bring us acclaim among the servants of the Ruinous Powers. That, or a couple dozen virus bombings.
>>
>>845180
I am wandering if we can acquire any slannesh or nurgle cult allies. We wont be able to get along with the khorne cults due to our sorcery.

We could really use their help if we try to take overthrow a hive planet and we share a mutual enemy.

Come to think of it some chaos unaligned would also work and should we succeed on any of those three fronts we could use them as intermediary for khorne allies who no doubt would appreciate the fight when we reach critical mass.

...plus we could use them as meatshields should anything go wrong(while at the same time sparing the majority of cult besides the token sacrifices to make them think they won) and after the fighting is done why we just mop up! Its a win win!
>>
>>845296
I don't think there are other chaos worshiping cults on this planet, at least. We could try and get a sort of supply line to other chaos cults nearby for meatwalls, guns, and other stuff that we need to set up here. I still think we need to get a good set up, first.
>>
>>845308
>>845296
...Nearby as in neighboring star systems. My mistake, if that was confusing.
>>
>>845296
Bah meant sparing the majority of our cult.

Also we gotta be prepared for traitorous minions out the ass. Fucking treacherous Tzeentch worshipers and their damned backstabbing worst of all the 4 chaos gods. Amazing we get anything done at all truth be told.

At least the khornites have the decency to try and usurp you directly with a fight. Possibly an unfair one from behind but still easier to deal with then treachery.

>>845285
We would still need a ship and space marines unfortunately are rather obvious.
>>
>>845325
Just got to see this quest, but we are still a chaos space marine. With all the armor and training that implies. Our followers aren't gonna be a problem at this point. We can be wary of course, but we pretty much can crush any uprisings.
>>
>>845374
We only have carapace armor. I think we needed to ditch our Blood Ravens power armor to escape, like a lizard does it's tail to evade predators.
>>
>>845380
Where is that written? I didn't see it. Still, even without the armor, we are still like 7 feet tall with two hearts and we can, like chew through prison bars and shit with acid saliva. Space Marines be broken.
>>
>>845411
Look at >>845158 in equipment. Blue Carapace Armor, (Worn)
>>

>>
>>845296
>>845308
>>845316

Keep in mind, Zerht is a very large planet, and many things go on in the shadows. You'd be surprised if there wasn't at least one other Chaos cult on the planet, though if there was they'd be nearly impossible to contact, as most sane cultists are extremely secretive.

>>845325

That, and most Warp-capable vessels are at least kilometer long.

A though comes to mind, you still haven't named the cult.
>>
>>845325
>>845374
>>845380
>>845411
>>845416
>>845423

As for potential backstabbing, that will certainly be a problem in the future, but right now, the entire cult is made up of starving homeless people and drug addicts who have been given hope by a Godlike near-mythological figure. The cult almost worships Thoth as much as they do Tzeentch.
>>
>>845450
Well anons, should we make a very open declaration of who we are as a cult or a more subversive one? We can call ourselves the Harbingers of change, the Brotherhood of hope, etc.
>>
>>845461
I'd think a more subtle one. I don't think we want to openly parade ourselves as chaos worshipers, unless that's not exactly what you meant.
>>
>>845527
I'm totally okay with subversive then. We can call ourselves Veritas. Means truth in latin, as in the worshippers of the truth.
>>
>>845450
For nurgle cults we look around in places of sickness and hopelessness. Practically guaranteed to have a nurgle cult recruiter hanging around for obvious reasons. Have some of our more desperate fellows hang around in those haunts until we find some. Our best bet would be among the sleaziest of mutants. After that it wont take much to arrange a meeting given how nurgle cultists are the friendliest ones.

Slannesh is easy so long as we keep following the drug trade route. Eventually we'll encounter some of them and after that it wont be hard to arrange a meeting. Best be prepared to take part in some of their rituals as a gesture of goodwill thankfully they are...somewhat friendly. Maybe.

Khorne cults can be found in the blood thirstiest of gangs and underground arenas will be our best bet. Best to use intermediaries unless we encounter the near extinct reasonable khorne cultist. They are going to be the least agreeable lot to deal with by far.

In truth Tzeentch is the hardest cultists to find outside the scribes and techpriests who are both especially vulnerable to us now that I think of it. We can totally nab some techpriests because who else then Tzeentch will have the answers to their questions that they have such a hard time answering? The scribes are going to be a bit trickier to manage but should we convert some techpriests not only can their augments help mask mutation they can also help get us access to archives...

>>845454
Sounds like it wont be hard to run into a nurgle cult recruiter. They are just the type of people they like!

...Same with the slanneshi and the drug addicts admittedly. Amazing we actually managed to nab some but hey it makes our job easier for making contact with potential allies.

We could really use some allies.

>>845527
>>845534
Agreed.
>>
>>845658
I don't think a Tzeentchian cult would get along all that well with Nurglite cultists considering the fact that they worship opposing gods. Honestly the only safe bet are slaaneshi and maybe khornate cults. As long as we have someone to point the khornates towards and as long as we have drugs for the slaaneshi, they'll probably remain sort of loyal.
>>
>>845534
Agreed, this is a good name.

>>845158
Should focus on expanding and recruitment. Maybe is its possible we should look at getting some gang leaders onboard, minor ones to start with, but if we can get the leadership to turn, then we can control the organisations they lead.
>>
>>845696
You forget khorne hates sorcerers...fuck that means we are stuck with the damned slanneshi for allies.

Those guys can be even more unreliable then khorne cultists...which would still be more reliable then our tzeentch cultists given all the backstabbing and chronic treachery.

Nurgle cultists would of made such good allies...I could of sworn it used to be Tzeentch and Khorne who hated each other.

Wow we are so fucked for allies later down the line including our own people. Even more so then now because we wouldn't be able to rely on the whole being a sphess marine as much.
>>
>>845797
Undivided is our best bet I guess. Could always focus on pulling this planet into the warp though, go carefully enough and it might be possible to do it ourselves.
>>
For now, we should try to... clean up our image, get most of our cultist to work in varied places.
Trying to get some techpriest right now is dangerous.
We can organise meditations using the drugs to get truth out of ou beloved god ! (and the cultist will love it !)

I like Veritas as a name to be frank !
>>
Veritas does seem like a good name, but I think it's little to brief for a Tzeentchi Cult. How about Exquirentibus Veritatem, which means Truth Seeker in Latin?
>>
>>845180
>>845183

So Thoth will continue training his newfound Sorcerous Power, while the cult recruits more followers, attempts to scope out higher positions in the criminal underworld, and attempts to to find more assault rifles?

Alright, I'll start writing the update, I'll wait another turn for you to decide on the name. Also, is my lack of Warhammer 40k lore knowledge showing? I've never actually played the tabletop or read any of the novels, but I've been enamored with the lore for quite some time now. Everything I've got so far is the byproduct of the Lexicon, the Fan-Wiki, and of course, 1d4chan, along with some improvisation.
>>
You've only just begun your journey, and you cannot stop now. You give the cultists their orders and continue to meditate on the nature of the Ruinous Powers.

It appears that they took your command to spread the good word of the dark gods a little too literally, hopefully this doesn't bite you in the ass later. The cult now numbers 86 men and women. Hopefully, the Lord of Change is pleased by the cult's devotion.

Meanwhile, you sit cross-legged in the Hidden Sewer Lair, constantly murmuring praises to Tzeentch as your mind reaches upward and outward, seeking the power to enact the Great One's will. For several days, you begin to feel as if you have been abandoned, but you scorn such thoughts and scour the Warp with renewed zeal. After three days and nights of nonstop prayer and meditation, Tzeentch rewards your efforts.

All of a sudden, your mind feels much sharper, and more independent than before, as if it wasn't a part of your body. In a flash of inspiration, you lock eyes with the nearest cultist, and thrust your mind into him. You both stand still for a few moments, before the cultist's eyes roll back into his head and he falls to the ground as if his consciousness was ripped away from him. You feel the faintest increase in power, and realize that you robbed the cultist of what little psychic energy his soul could muster. You're sure he'll be fine in a few days, after all, you didn't consume his soul.

This new ability seems somewhat limited, if it can only knock one man unconscious at a time, it'd be worthless in a fire fight. A few moments of thoughtful pondering brings you a sudden realization, if you engaged in battle with another Psyker, you could disable your foe's power and render him helpless! You speak to the assembled cultists, who watch you intently.

"ALL PRAISE BE TO TZEENTCH, TODAY HE HAS GIVEN ME THE POWER TO STRIKE DOWN ALL WHO WOULD OPPOSE HIS GRAND SCHEME! I HAVE BEEN BLESSED, AND IF YOU PERSEVERE IN YOUR DEVOTION, HE SHALL DO THE SAME FOR YOU!"

The cultist kneel before you, muttering in fervent prayer. You kneel, and can practically touch Tzeentch, such is his presence. Many of those who doubted openly swear their servitude to Tzeentch, and you feel a sense of pride, such as you have never felt before.

The Hidden Sewer lair is beginning to become somewhat crowded, as 86 cultists struggle to crowd into the chamber. Perhaps you should do something about that. You're beginning to become slightly concerned about the cult's spreading reputation, and realize that you haven't yet decided on an official name, though several ideas come to mind.

We should start working on converting the Yhetti Klan, and helping them with toppling other gangs
>>
>>846164
We should search for a new hideout.
And name our cult
Also start training the militia more and get some more unskilled fanatics into drug running.

definitely a new hideout, try harder for unskilled cultists and gang integration for our members. Keep buying weapons and ammo, focus on ranged.

Maybe organize a small raid on a rival gang's turf?

Can we now scour through the ranks for psychic potential or do we still need to learn how to not kill people with our mind before we can do the delicate stuff like that?

Also, quick question, but what do we do with the favor we have gained? What is it for?

There are four planets in the Zerht system. Zerht 1, the planet closest to the sun, is a dead world but supposedly it is very rich in minerals, and home to several strip mining operations. Zerht 2 is a small and rapidly industrializing Shrine world that provides muc of the system's food. Zerht 3 is the hive world you 're currently on, apart from its many rusting hive archologies, festering slums, and high crime rate, there's not much not worthy about it. Zerht 4 is a fairly populous Feudal world that's beginning to go through its renaissance, in recent years, many hivers have begun to immigrate to Zerht 4. In another two or three hundred years it will likely be an Agri world.

It is possible for Thigh to scan the cultists for psychic potential, but Thigh isn't skilled enough to do it rapidly, and it would take him a full week, as of now.

Favor is a measurement of how far you've come in your devotion to Chaos and the worship of Tzeentch. When your Favor has reached a certain point, Tzeentch will grant you and/or your followers a Boon of some kind. could we smuggle a couple cultists offworld to start a small operation on Zerht 4, like establishing a small outpost and twisting the faith of the feudal types to be more in line with the Architect of Fate.

That's certainly possible, though you'd have to acquire a ship capable of interplanetary flight, which would cost at least 30,000 Throne Gelts. Or you could try to stow away on a ship, or hijack one, or pay for passage. There's a lot of options and you likely wouldn't see any benefits for a while.

We should set up some beliefs for our cult besides just worshipping Tzeentch and blaspheming against the Emperor. I've got a few ideas for our cult's philosophy:

> The cult pursues the Truth, the only Truth is Entropy, which is an aspect of Chaos. Therefore, the only Truth is Chaos, all else is Falsehood.

> The Truth is natural, and nature is the correct state of being. Therefore, Chaos is the only natural state of being. This can be seen throughout the universe, the atoms constantly move, and the galaxy itself is never stagnant.

> As Tzeentch is the Lord Of Change, he is the embodiment of The Truth. Tzeentch is the Truth, and the Truth is Tzeentch. The Truth is Holy, all other Gods and those who follow them forsake the Truth in pursuit of Falsehood.

> It is blasphemous against Truth to halt the spread of Chaos, and it is blasphemous to refuse to follow Tzeentch, as he is the embodiment of Truth.

> Blasphemy is an unforgivable insult against Reality, which is an aspect of the Truth. Blasphemers are misguided, and must be taught the way of Truth. The core of Chaos is free will, therefore, the core of the Truth is free will. As the Truth is infallibly sacred, the freedom to choose one's own fate is sacred and must be protected from those who seek to end the freedom of choice.

> Free will is sacred, and it is blasphemous against the Truth to force anyone to follow Tzeentch, as their Faith would be unnatural, and an insult in his sight. All True Followers of Tzeentch must choose to follow him of their own free will.

> All those who do not follow Tzeentch as the Truth are unnatural. Therefore, they are not sapient, as they have not yet realized their True nature. Until they have submitted themselves to the Truth, they are nothing more than animals, to be killed and used for the benefit of the True followers of Tzeentch.

> If one has not heard the Truth, they are not yet awawaken. They are to be taught the Truth and respected, as they may realize the Truth, and further the Truth, as is Holy and sacred in the eye of Tzeentch.

> If one hears the Truth, and sincerely submits himself to Tzeentch, he is to be welcomed with open arms and his awakening is to be celebrated.

> If one hears the Truth, and does not submit himself to Tzeentch, yet respects and acknowledges the merit of the Truth, his choice is to be respected, as he has merely exercised his free will as is natural, his denial is a part of Tzeentch's Holy Plan.

> If one hears the Truth, yet outright refuses it in favor of False Idols, he is no more than an animal, to be killed and used for the benefit of the True followers of Tzeentch.

> If any man opposes the Truth and seeks to limit the absolute freedom of anyone, he has committed an unspeakable blasphemy, and if he refuses to hear and accept the Truth, he is to be slain, and his corpse destroyed, to release his soul into the Holy Chaos of the Warp, where he will understand the Truth.

Though you yearn to further your power, you know you must guide your flock. It is dishonest to do otherwise. Wait a moment, dishonest, dishonest, honest, trustworthy, true? That's it! Tzeentch has guided your mind to this stunning epiphany: TZEENTCH IS THE TRUTH! By his holy name, how could you have overlooked something so obvious, so, profound!?! You must mediate on this, and that you do for two days, pausing for only instants to provide your followers with instructions.

[5][12]

While you meditated, the cult managed to enlighten a pair of desperate men. There is no shortage of such desperate men on Zerht 3, and the soil for Tzeentch's teachings is fertile. In addition, the cult spoke to a healthy, rich youth from the spires who was looking for entertainment with her bodyguards near to your abode. Though the youth didn't agree to visit a sermon of yours, she was obviously intrigued. Her servitor bodyguards didn't seem to hear anything.

> After two days of nonstop chanting of prayers and mentally touching the Warp, you've realized the Truth of Tzeentch, and of Reality itself! It is more beautiful than you'd ever imagined it would be!

"MY CHILDREN, HEAR ME WHEN I SPEAK! THE LORD OF CHANGE HAS SPOKEN TO ME IN MY DREAMS, AND HE HAS TAUGHT ME THE TRUTH! LISTEN CLOSELY, AND I SHALL TEACH YOU AS I MYSELF WAS TAUGHT!

The next day, you and the veritas awaken with renewed purpose. You immediately task the faithful with spreading Tzeentch's Truth to the Yhetti Klan, finding a new place of refuge for the many Enlightened Ones, and training the cult militia to purge those who would blaspheme against Tzeentch's blessed name.

[17+6=23]
((+6 due to Thoth's extensive military experience.))

As the week passes, the veritas militia hardens, in body, and mind. Their faith becomes unshakable, and the faintest doubt that Thoth isn't the prophet of Tzeentch is purged in their sweat, tears, and devotion. The militia train nonstop, praying to Tzeentch with every spare breath.

They gain admirable skill with their rifles. knives. and fists, and they gain a steely, unbreakable discipline. They're certainly not Elite, not by any means, but you're absolutely certain they would make piecemeal of any street gang they went up against. You could say without bragging that the militiamen are the equal the Planetary Defense Forces, and watching them drill fills you with pride.

The veritas sent to find a new place of rest for the frateris de veritas have managed to locate a cheap tenement apartment, willing to rent rooms at 50 Throne Gelt a month and not ask questions. You estimate that it would cost you at least 200 Throne Gelt a month to purchase lodging for the entire cult, it would be insufferably crowded, and worse, its not nearly isolated enough to conduct Holy Rituals to Tzeentch without being bothered. You thank the veritas for their efforts, and send them on their way.

A terrible tragedy has occurred, one of the cult's senior drug runners was shot and killed by a rival gang. Sadly, nobody was promoted this week, either.

Upon hearing of the death of one of your own at the hands of the Pipe Snakes, you are filled with an intense, cold fury. This is unacceptable, unthinkable that a hedonistic street gang could butcher an innocent follower of the Truth, only just beginning his sacred journey? No, this is not tolerable, blood must be shed, in recompense for the lifeblood of your disciple. Pipe Snake blood shall pour out in a wave, nay, a tsunami. It shall be testament to the power of The Truth, blessed be Tzeentch, and their bloodlines shall end. So you swear upon your soul in the sight of Tzeentch, so you swear in the sight of the Frateris De Veritas, and so you swear upon your own sacred honor.

Regrettably, you will be unable to exact vengeance yourself, rather, the cult militant shall cleanse the gutter of its worms. You have prepared them well, they are armed not only with the mortal implements of carnage, but also with a total faith in The Lord of Change, far stronger than any pagan devotion to a festering corpse on a gilded chair. Today, their training, your gift to them, shall be used to devastating effect against the hive scum. You are satisfied, and you recline in the Sewer Chambers, meditating on the intricacies of the Truth.

***

You are Jorgin Thesna, one of many recently enlightened in the way of the Truth by the holy words of the blessed prophet Thoth Talibah, Divine Orchestrator of the Architect's Will. Only a month ago, you were a homeless wretch, digging through dumpsters to survive, now, your life has purpose, and meaning beyond struggling to survive each day.

Blessed Prophet Thoth deemed you alone worthy of leading the Veritas Militia, the highest position you have ever had, and you are filled with pride when you see your devotion mirrored in your companions. Yesterday, a close friend of yours was shot in the back by a cowardly gang member while he was selling drugs to get money for the Veritas, and when you told blessed prophet Thoth, he explained the feeling of hatred and rage you felt toward the gangers.

You'd thought it was blasphemous against the Truth to want to kill the gangers, since they didn't insult Tzeentch, or follow the corpse god. He explained to all of you, you and 86 others, that the rage you felt was for a good reason. It was because the man that died had just found the Truth, and had just started to learn about it, and how, even though now he's in the Warp, experiencing the Truth in a way higher than anything you'll ever know in this world, his death was blasphemous.

When the gangers killed a follower of the Truth, they killed a vessel of Tzeentch that had been devoting himself to spreading the Truth. Because it's blasphemous to insult Tzeentch, it's a hundred times worse to actually try to hurt Tzeentch. Your dead friend was spreading the Truth and the praises of Tzeentch, and being killed for no reason interfered with Tzeentch's Grand Scheme, which meant that Tzeentch's progress was hurt.

I think it fits the amount of detail put into it I'm ok with it. The wait is always worth it.

Which setback the spread of Eternal, Beautiful Chaos, which is the Truth. Since the progress of the Truth was halted, it's blasphemous that they killed your friend. Blasphemy is unforgivable, and the Pipe Snakes have forsaken any chance at redemption through Tzeentch's Truth. Which makes them subhuman animals, and since they killed a follower of the Truth, they're dangerous animals, which means that they need to be exterminated by the followers of the Truth. Which is where you come in.

The blessed prophet Thoth sure does talk a lot, but what he says makes so much sense! You've been training for two weeks, and are lucky enough to get to wield one of the cult's three lasguns in battle for Tzeentch, and you're going to put it to good use. The Yhetti Klan, some kind of drug dealing street gang, is rivals with the blasphemous gutter vermin Pipe Snakes, which makes them your friends, and five of them have been enlightened by the Truth, which makes them your friends twice! Even better, they're planning a gang war with the Pipe Snakes, because they killed a few other Yhetti drug runners.

The blessed prophet Thoth realized that their hatred towards the Pipe Snakes ties in perfectly with the veritas crusade against them that'll happen soon, and because it all works together so well, there's just no way that it can all be a coincidence, which means that the Architect of Fate planned it all from before the beginning of time! Which is undeniable proof of the Truth! How could you have been so blind before the blessed prophet showed you the way? You've got no idea!

Anyways, the blessed prophet Thoth already planned the Holy Crusade to purge the blasphemers with the leader of the Yhetti Klan beforehand. According to one of the Yhetti Klan's spies, the Pipe Snakes are having some kind of meeting at a warehouse in the slums, and all of their most important leaders and their best men are going to be there. Which makes it the perfect target, which means it was all planned by the Architect of Fate before the blessed prophet Thoth was even born!

You and 29 of your fellow Tzeentchian Truth-Seekers are gathered into an army, wielding your weapons. Everyone's got an Assault Rifle, and two have Lasguns, but a lot of the militant veridas brought their own stuff too, machetes, knives, and chains for whenever ammunition runs out. About 40 of the Yhetti Klan are here to. They look pretty tough, with all their leather, tattoos, and neon-colored Mohawks. Most of them are wielding Assault Rifles and Shotguns, but some of them have got Lasguns and frag grenades, and one guy's got a fucking flamethrower. All of those Pipe Snakes won't know what hit 'em, and it's gonna be awesome.

The veridas militia is standing in the parking lot of the Pipe Snake's abandoned warehouse, they've got three guys standing outside watching for any trouble, and if 60-plus fully armed men were able to sneak up on the warehouse undetected, they must be terrible at their jobs. (cont.)

The Yhetti Klan leader gives the signal, and the Yhettis run hooping and hollering at the warehouse! They gun down the sentries in about two seconds flat, and start slamming down their locked door. Nobody had any map of the warehouse, so there might be some side entrances the militia could sneak through, or not. Either way, the Yhettis are about the break the door off its hinges, and you've got decisions to make.

> How exactly should the veritas militia go about purging the blasphemers in the name of Tzeentch? (write-in)

I'm a busy person, and I try to update when I can.

>>854356

Now I feel all tingly inside, and I don't think that it's just Warp corruption.

OK, brief change of pace with this update. Instead of strategically manipulating a cult from the shadows, you're going to be fighting a gang war from the point of view of a normie cultist.

Also, this thread is beginning to meet its end. How can I set up an archive for it so it isn't lost forever?
>>

Send a few men to scout around the warehouse while the rest support the Yhetti Klansmen at the door

I think this is the best 40k quest I've seen. your a great writer so I hope you don't disappear like 99% of all other gm's.

Quickly find back entrances block most of them and attack from 2 of them. We will flank them and cut off there escape no survivors.

No worries I didn't know how too either until a 1 minute Google search.

Send a third of the men onto the roof of the warhouse, perhaps there are windows looking down into the warehouse or perhaps there are other ways to flank the Pipe Snakes from above... One must think in three dimensions rather than the lowly two, especially in hive warfare.

Another third can go around the back, whilst the last third can join the Yhetti Klan assaulting the front...

You should join those going on the roof, the Veritas Militia shall make sure there are no survivors of the Pipe snakes...
