Compared to Water jutsu, the amount of chakra that you're manipulating in these situations is considerably larger. After having grown so accustomed to doing things a certain way, it isn't easy at all for you to break certain habits. The flames have a tendency to peter out fairly quickly, due to not putting enough force into it.

After several hours of only being able to spurt ineffectually, you get frustrated and decide to ramp it up. You blow hard, suddenly engulfing the space in front of you with a large torrent of flame. It rises up and whips about, and you have to slap your hand over your mouth before the wind catches the blast and ignites the forest.

You cough and sputter, releasing black smoke from your mouth. You look at the palm of your hand, and find that it's trembling from pain. A considerable burn is turning a bright red shade. Sighing in resignation, you sit down and decide to take a break.

Using the Mystical Palms technique, you heal one hand with the other. While you sit there, Hanto returns from his errands.

He grins, seeing you sitting on the ground. "Oy, Takeshi. Hitting a bit of a roadblock?"

You nod, looking up with a frown. "Yeah, I can't seem to find a good medium strength and hold it there. The flames are too difficult to control."

He kneels down next to you. "I think I understand. Fire is the only element that I've ever been able to use, but I had a really hard time taming it as well."

You grin. "Really? But you've got such good control over it. You're even able to pick and choose what your fire burns. Why is your fire blue, anyways?"

He inhales deeply, and stands straight up. Hanto looks up at the sky, and seems to ponder his answer for a few moments before responding. "I could tell you now, I guess. It's nothing too confidential. It might help with your training, too."

He sits down next to you harshly, and pulls up his silver flask to his lips. The scent of alcohol is something that you've grown accustomed to near him, so it doesn't phase you very much. What's more surprising is your Sensei being so friendly.

He burps. "I used to have issues with authority, when I was your age. Even when I was a bit older, still. I was the last one among my squad to become a Chunin, and I wasn't a very successful one even once I made it."

"That's hard to believe." you say. "You seem like one of the strongest people in the village, now. Maybe not as an actual ninja, but I've never seen someone match you in destructive force."

He laughs, and pushes you over with one hand. You stand up, and dust yourself off. He shakes his head. "Well, you're young. I'm sure you'll meet people who outdo me in spades, eventually. So do you wanna hear my story, or are you gonna keep interrupting me?"

You rub the back of your head. "Sorry. Mind if I keep practicing?"

He waves you off, motioning for you to continue. He grumbles. "Anyway, I was always a pretty shitty Chunin. Nothing like you. I was always a follower, and not too useful at that. Some mediocre Fire Jutsu, and my half decent Taijutsu generally meant I had to activate the Gates to keep up. Always came home hurt."

You decide to stick to building up the smaller spurts, instead of going for a single big blast again. Don't wanna clear off anyone's eyebrows. Hanto continues, seeing that you're resuming. "This was before everything went blue. I read the report on your last mission. You're a bit more familiar with Jinchuriki and the demons, right?"

Stopping, you look over. It's strange that he's going in this direction, seeing as you've never sensed anything evil from your Sensei. If anything, despite his violent ways, the intent behind his chakra has always been a pure sensation. "I guess. You can always tell when they're around. It makes the hair on your skin stand up, and you get goosebumps."

You consider this. "Okay, thanks. So, what turned your fire blue anyways? Is it just because of a low temperature? You said you were mediocre, after all."

He shakes his head. "Not quite. It's a little more complicated than that."

"Right." you say, while scratching your head. Your sensei is an enigmatic person. You're starting to get the sensation that whatever he wants to explain to you, can't be explained simply. "Well, what'd make people think of you as a Daredevil? I can't imagine that you'd really go out and keep hurting yourself like that."

He grins. His head slouches forward a little bit, and you can't quite see his face. "Well, that part I can tell you about. It'll help to answer your first question. Anyways, I was always coming back injured, and people kept scolding me. I was getting it from all angles, right? My dad always pushing me forward, my mom saying I was a disgrace. Then, the Hokage, Kakashi. In some ways he was the worst to me. He'd tell me I had to abandon my way of fighting, or else I was gonna die. So I'm getting pulled in three different directions, you see? All while trying to stay alive on the field. I didn't care about what any of them said. I think that's why you're such a good fighter, Takeshi. You take the pieces that you need from people, and build yourself up with them. But you're never committing too much to one thing."

You chuckle, failing to follow his advice on the flame. You're attempting to pump your chakra through in waves, but it's difficult to control. Only tiny spurts flutter out. "Well, I think most people would say I'm spread too thin. Heck, I might even be wasting my time trying to learn how to do this, right now. It took me so long to learn the last jutsu."

He stands up straight, and cranes his neck. "Ohh, I'm jealous. Look, you wanna hear this story or not?"

You nod. "Please."

He looks back up at the sky. "One day, when I was returning from a mission with my squad, my dad had just gotten done scolding me. He'd been critically injured because he had to leap in to save me, after I'd busted a leg with one of the Gates. It was clear that I'd been developing a death wish. Then, Kakashi bore down on me as well. I felt like they were pressuring me to quit. So I, just let go."

He takes another drink, and you realize he's looking at the moon in the distance. It's still the daytime, but you can see it, small and pale. "I don't know what'd happened. That night, something woke up inside me. The point is, I attacked the Hokage. Do you wanna know why I wasn't detained, or why I didn't go rogue?"

Hanto has your full attention. "Yeah, of course!"

He reaches up, and grips his bicep. "I'd realized, I had to be strong if I wanted to do what I wanted. In life, in combat, in everything. So I told them all, I was me, and they were them, and I'd die before I let them change that. So my fire turned blue, and I got a lot more powerful. Isn't it funny how that works?"

You nod, slowly. "I'm confused though, what exactly happened?"

He keeps looking at the moon. "I've got the chakra of demon in me. Well, traces of the mother of all demons. My mother is a master swordswoman, and her weapon was made from a meteorite. While she was pregnant with me, this weapon was next to me at all times. So, as a baby, I absorbed the power of the moon."

You recall your recent conversation with Orochimaru, when he mentioned Kaguya. "So, you're a Jinchuriki, sensei?"

You grin. "Thanks! I wasn't planning on anything else!"

You get back to the bitter work, encouraged by his story and advice. You're not sure what exactly makes your sensei so strong, but if he's willing to stand out on his own against everyone, then with the support of your friends, it should be easy for you in comparison.

He leaves, and you find yourself nearly capable of preforming the jutsu in whole at the end of the day. You've learned the Great Fireball Jutsu. Another training session should allow you to perfect it, more or less.

You head home, and get a long night's sleep. While laying still in bed, you wonder just how a mediocre Chunin was able to challenge a Hokage.

The next day, you prepare for more training.

Today, you head to Naruto's office. Heading into the building, you meet with his secretary near the top floor. Approaching her desk, you can see the village outside of the windows. It's strange still calling it a village, seeing as there are skyscrapers dotted around from large businesses. Not to mention numerous apartment buildings. The Leaf has always been a large city for as long as you can remember, but in recent years it feels that it's springing up even more.

You approach with a grin, and the secretary is already shaking her head. "He's not in today. He's meeting with the Mizukage, to discuss potential aid. I can put a message through for you, though. He's got clones around the building for general assistance, but the main guy oftentimes has trouble trusting them. He's been a bit frazzled lately by everything that's going on, so he wants to personally clear things."

"I see. Could you tell one of his clones that I was hoping for a few days off? I wanted to go on a small trip."

She smiles, and types a note into her computer. "Got it. Anything else you need?"

Even citizens are heavily criticized, well.."

She taps her pencil on the desk. "You know, because of that cult. Naruto's seriously fearful of more murders taking place. His duty is to the village, above all else."

You nod, solemnly. "That's pretty sad. What about the situation in the Mist? Have we heard any details? It seems like it's just general guerrilla destruction, from what I've seen on the news."

She cocks her head to the side. "Dunno. I know about as much as you do, in that regard. Hopefully when he comes back we'll know. Having a world leader that can sense evil intent is pretty useful."

You chuckle. "That's true. Well, thanks, I guess I'll be leaving."

She waves, and you make your exit. As you're walking away, you look out the windows at your village again one more time. Maybe lately, you've taken the peace for granted somewhat.

You head home, and find your brother Hideki watching some TV. He's halfway asleep, a magazine resting on his chest. You step over and shake his leg, and he looks at you with a single eye. "Hey little bro, what's up?"

"Do you feel like training a bit? There were some things I was hoping to get your help with."

He stretches briefly, and rolls around before bouncing up straight. He slaps his face around a few times to wake up. "Sure! I wasn't doing anything anyways. It'd be good to get some sunlight, I'm usually inside all day."

The two of you make your way to the training field. It's not all two often the both of you get to work together, but it's always been fun for you. Hideki's light hearted nature can make difficult things easier.

He looks around, and breaths in the air deeply. "So, what were you thinking?"

Daily reminder to everyone that shadow clones can train in non physical things like ninjutsu and studying genjutsu and naturally pass that experience on to the real Takeshi, allowing for hyper training. We're a hyper training kinda guy, so i think we need to learn this either from naruto, sensei, or the owls if they know it as soon as possible. "Well, the two big things I was hoping to work on were Water Clones, and some taijutsu fundamentals. Do you think you could help me with that?"

He nods with a grin. "Sure! I'm good at both of those things. I think Water Clones should be easy enough for you at this point. Here, let's get some material to work with."

The two of you step over to the pond. Hideki forms a couple of handsigns. At once, five pillars of liquid rise up out of the water. They form into near perfect clones of your brother, their slight dampness being the only giveaway they might not be real. They are certainly physically substantial, however.

He tells you about how it's considerably less costly to preform if there's already a body of water nearby. Your chakra control and experience with water jutsu is fairly good, so you actually pick up the technique relatively quickly. Most of the time is spent learning about the limitations of the clones.

They can only travel about ten meters away from you at any given time, and they can preform simple Water jutsu of C rank or lower once or twice. The issue with them using water jutsu is that they're not actually creating more water, but using their own body. You can instruct a clone to propel itself as Water Bullets, for example. Possibly even turn into a Hidden Mist Jutsu, allowing you to coat an area in fog before moving in.

They're not strong enough to preform your Hydro Sword technique, but you figure that with your Haze Clones, you'll be able to make them effective close range combatants. It'll be difficult for anyone to gauge just exactly where you're attacking from, not to mention being able to summon Danpei as well. The possibilities of what you can do now fly through your mind, as you consider pincer attacks from horizontal, and vertical angles.

You imagine that your team mates would work well with this, too. You could have one of your water clones restrain an enemy with a hug, and have Ai blast them with lightning.

Once you think you've got it down, Hideki asks you to use your Water Clones to attack him.

He stands out in the middle of the field, and grins. "I think it's time to show you the jutsu I invented. It's got it's limits, but I think soon enough you'll be good enough for me to teach it to you."

He forms several handsigns, and nothing seems to happen. Hideki turns his back away from you, and puts his headband down over his eyes.

You and your four clones blink at each other. Well, how do you want to do this?

In terms of facial structure, hair color, eye color, ect, you guys do look intensely similar though. The main difference is that you spend a lot of time in the sun, and your hair is longer. Got a bit of a darker skin tone than pure white, and hair is brown instead of black. The eyes have a lot to do with it.

Two of your water clones jump forward at once, after taking several steps for speed. Hideki's head turns slightly, and you note that the ground in front of you is muddy and moist. It' almost as if a thin veil of water, roughly an inch, was placed over everything. He's blindfolded, so it surprises you when he leaps forward a few feet and turns around.

He seems to be waiting for them to land. When they do, before they can retreat, he steps forward suddenly and crashes both fists into the chests. They explode, splashing into the ground.

He's grinning. Your other two clones are looping around the other side, while you charge down the middle. This is intended to be an exercise to improve your Taijuts, so you won't be using other Ninjutsu than Water Clones. You get the feeling a one on one fight with you and your bro would be a bit unfair, even if you both are Chunin.

As your other clones close in, he suddenly leaps up and kicks his legs out in a mid-air split. They run into the soles of his shoes, and you skid to a stop in front of him.

Instead of running into his iron fists on your own, you use the Water Clone Jutsu again. Seeing as there's enough water everywhere, you're able to make six clones. This time, you opt to rush in all at once and attempt to overwhelm him.

The copies of you sling forward with tight jabs and kicks, but he's able to weave through each one with ease. It seems as if he's capable of being omniscient of their location, as long as they're touching the ground. You note that each step he makes is minimalist. He's shuffling forward an inch at a time, and pivoting on his heels to escape blows and counter.

You note that he's effective at striking with eight points, instead of the normal four. Fast elbows, knees, kicks and punches. Each one doesn't need too much force committed to it, seeing as the intense training he's pulled off with his body creates extra impact.

Soon, it's just you left. He starts to throw punch after punch, forcing you to weave through them. You can tell he's opting to move at your pace now, instead of his. He's got you stepping back, focused entirely on evading without the chance to attack.

You catch on, and pivot out of the way of a strike. You fire off a jab upwards, and manage to clip his jaw. It just hurts your hand though, really. He grins, and motions for you to come at him again.

For some reason, you're reminded of your intense Taijutsu training with Shikamaru.

He's going to pummel you unless you get creative with your Taijutsu.

We could definitely do it, we just have to keep at it for a while, just like learning fire even though It's our opposite element. Think of it this way, we can develop dojutsu-esque bullshit by carving our own path without eugenics bullshit, and it works very well with the fact that water/boil will have great synergy with this hypothetical technique.

Is anyone still here? Well, I'm going to post something I've been thinking about.

First, puppeteering as a main thing is shit, puppeteering as a secondary combat style probably isn't worth our time at this point, but what I'm going to say isn't about puppets.

Puppets aren't that great, (Unless you are Sasori and can inject puppets with chakra or stupid crap like that) but their main jutsu IS.

Let's talk about Chakra threads for a second. Chakra threads are the essential piece that make that style possible, but considering what they can do, I'm surprised they weren't shown off more in the show. Namely, I'm talking about using Chakra threads for everything BUT puppets, you can use them on a knife and have it whip around and attack from all sorts of angles, same with a sword, or you could use it on a corpse to surprise someone, or on an unconscious or paralized/disabled ally or enemy to get them out of danger, by grabbing their joints and making them move to safety.
They cost almost nothing to produce and maintain, and are an extremely valuable an unorthodox support move, and for reference, i want to note that using them on weapons and corpses is not just speculation, but a viable technique as Makoto (first jashinist boss battle, we just resealed him) used his array of swords by fighting this way.

It's just another tool that we could pick up to diversify our arsenal and gain even more options in a fight, and no learning would not take months, it should take couple weeks at most to use it in a basic manner.

If there's anything wrong with my idea, let me know, otherwise i think we should take some time to learn a cheap costing, handsignless and versatile technique.

Chakra threads seem even more precise than chakra scalpels in battle.

They do seem versatile, yes, but I think we could spend the (probably quite large) amount of time necessary to weaponize them doing something else.

That said, im open to the idea if mini concurs.

Ah, that's a point i completely forgot to mention. If we ever develop a technique that can be channeled, we could attach a chakra thread to someone and electrocute them, or just be sneaky and run a poison with boil up the string that will infect them on skin contact. They won't feel the string through clothing if we don't make it constrict movement unless they are extremely observant/not distracted at the moment.
