/qst/ - Quests

Hello, good people of /qst/. This quest is, as is probably obvious from the OP pic, based on the Teen Titans animated series. You'll be taking the part of a young man and potential Titan, guiding him through his trials and tribulations.

>Rules

There will be a 15 minute voting period between posts.

Please only choose one option (I will let you know in cases where you can choose more)

Write-ins of dialogue are allowed, but they won't be put in as-written, just sort of the spirit of the write-in. Additionally, dialogue write-ins require a significant amount of support from other players to be put in, as they can greatly affect the character.

Action write-ins will only be allowed under certain circumstances, which I'll announce. You can suggest an action to me if you want, and I may allow it, but might not depending on various factors.

No dice system in this quest. Victory and defeat will come down to decisions rather than random luck. Learn from experiences, develop strategies, and think outside the box at times (like I said, an action can be suggested to me).

Above all, have fun. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Through success, failure, and everything in-between, I hope this will be an adventure worth remembering.

Last thread is kept here

Once he's finished chatting with Cyborg, Robin pulls up an image on the big screen of a person that you're going to go out on a limb and assume is Killer Moth. Either that, or the Titans use this computer in some ways you really don't want to know about. He looks to just be a big guy in a weird moth costume. A really good moth costume. You can't even see any eye holes or anything, almost like.

Oh God.

"This is Killer Moth," Robin says, confirming what you were already assuming, and putting your mind at ease as far as the browsing history of the Titans. "He's a lot more dangerous than he looks. Killer Moth is an expert in genetics and bio-engineering, so much so that he was able to make himself basically half-moth."

"He also made Silkie," Beast Boy explains, holding up the friendly worm-creature in question.

"Killer Moth has usually committed crimes with the help of giant moths he created," Robin explains while Beast Boy tickles Silkie. "In their larval stage, they're mostly harmless, but when they grow, they can do some major damage. We had a hard enough time fighting one, and Killer Moth has created entire swarms."

"But why's he doing this now?" Beast Boy asks. "Didn't he give up being a bad guy?"

"That's what I thought," Robin admits, staring at the image inquisitively. "He gave up his life of crime so he could spend more time with his daughter. He's even done a lot of good since then. His work has had a major positive impact on the honey bee population, and made him enough money for stealing to not be worth it."

"Maybe he was missing the good old days?" Beast Boy asks half-jokingly.

"I'm not so sure this is a nostalgia trip," Robin admits. "Killer Moth should still have control over that cage, and if he wanted to let his moths rampage, he could have just opened it himself and let them all out."

"So, who else would have let that one out?" Beast Boy questions.

Robin shakes his head. "Not sure. Could be any number of people."

>A. "You said Killer Moth has a daughter. Has she done anything like this before?"

>B. "If you don't think Killer Moth is guilty, why are we going to his place?"

>C. "Why is an ex super-villain allowed to keep a swarm of giant moths as pets?"

>D. Don't say anything, let them keep talking

"You said Killer Moth has a daughter," you speak up. "Has she done anything like this before?"

Beast Boy and Robin share a look that pretty much already answers your question. If the girl has a history of doing this sort of thing, you wouldn't have a hard time believing she's up to her old tricks. Maybe the other Titans are thinking the same thing. That would explain why they're going to Killer Moth's house despite doubting his guilt.

"We've had a few run-ins with her," Robin answers, sounding as if he's just dredged up some unpleasant memories.

"Yeah," Beast Boy confirms. "There was the time she got her dad to blackmail Robin into taking her to prom, the time she and her dad joined the Brotherhood of Evil to attack Starfire, and that time she made like, ten different costumes and posed as a bunch of villains to get her dad's attention."

"She's not exactly an angel," Robin sums up.

Wait, Robin went to prom with Killer Moth's daughter? You have got to hear that story sometime, but it's probably best not to ask about it right now. Also, who's the Brotherhood of Evil, and why did she wear multiple costumes and use a plethora of identities to try and get her dad to pay attention to her? That seems like an overly complicated way of doing things.

"It could definitely be her," Robin says, stroking his chin. "But why now? What's her motive?"

"Dude, we both know that girl's got some screws loose," Beast Boy tells the team leader. "It's probably for some dumb reason that none of us would ever think of."

"There's only one way to find out for sure," Robin decides, turning off the big-screen and making his way for the door. "Come on, we're going to be late meeting the others."

"Uh, there's three of us," Beast Boy points out as the two of you run after him. "How are we all getting there? Oh, does this mean I can finally drive the T-car?"

Robin gives Beast Boy a warning look that makes the green guy shrink away and drop this business about driving. You wonder why everybody seems so against him driving the car, but you guess they have their reasons.

"He can either ride with me on the R-cycle, or you can carry him," Robin answers.

"Across the city?!" Beast Boy asks. "Dude, come on! That'll kill my arms."

>A. "I'll ride with Robin."

>B. "Come on, Beast Boy, it'll be a good work out."

>C. "I could just walk."

>D. "Maybe I should stay behind so I don't slow you guys down."

"I'll ride with Robin," you decide, figuring it's better not to tire out Beast Boy before a potential fight, and that making him carry you would probably not do wonders for his opinion of you.

"Alright then, hop on," Robin instructs, tossing you a helmet.

You catch it right before it hits your chest, put it on, do the straps, and walk over to Robin's motorcycle. Clearly, he takes good care of it. It's beautiful, and you're sure that since it's Robin's, it can probably do some neat tricks. It's almost too bad that you're apparently making a house-call on a reformed villain and his bratty daughter. Odds are you won't see much cool stuff today, except for that moth guys himself. You still don't get why he turned himself into that, but it should still be neat to see him face-to-face.

You climb on the back of the motorcycle, putting your arms around Robin's waist to keep yourself in place as he revs up and sends his motorcycle shooting right out of the garage, moving like a red streak toward Jump City. Overhead, Beast Boy has taken the form of some kind of bird (you think it's a falcon), and takes an aerial approach to the intended destination.

How Robin manages to drive this thing without running anybody over, you have no idea, but somehow, despite going at speeds well beyond what most would consider safe (and the authorities would consider legal), there's not a single accident caused, or even anybody that seems particularly scared by this seemingly reckless driving. You guess it makes sense. After all, a lot of these people have probably seen some crazy things in this city already.

You pull up to a nice, two-story house with a sizable yard. Cyborg, Starfire, and Raven are there waiting, and Beast Boy lands just a few seconds after the R-cycle stops moving. The team's assembled.

"Oh, dude, Pete, I almost forgot!" Beast Boy says, reaching into his pants. "I brought this for you, in case you wanted some kind of disguise."

He yanks out some red object that he proceeds to throw at your face. Peeling it off and trying not to notice the smell, you see that it's a red luchador mask. Well, that'll keep your face hidden if you choose to wear it.

"Why do you have this?" you ask your teammate as you try to decide whether or not you actually want to put it on.

"Well, a while back I went to this special showing of Taco Nibre," Beast Boy answers. "They were having a trivia contest before the movie, and I got every single question right. So, I won this mask. Haven't had much chance to wear it, but I thought it might work for now if you want to hide your identity."

"That's a good idea," Robin compliments.

"Yeah," Raven agrees. "Are we sure Beast Boy came up with it?"

While Beast Boy steams at Raven's joke, you decide that this mask should work as a placeholder for now, until you work out what kind of costume you want. Ignoring the smell, and deciding that protecting your identity is worth this questionable costume, you place the mask on your head, ready to get down to business. As the six of you make your way up the sidewalk to Killer Moth's front door, it quickly becomes apparent that he's been expecting you.

The door swings open before anyone reaches it, and a large, moth-like creature steps out onto the front porch. Its insectoid eyes move around, taking in the sight of your team, and lingering on you long enough to make you feel rather uncomfortable.

"So, the Teen Titans," the creature speaks in a voice that strikes you as somewhat unnatural. "We meet again."

"Killer Moth..." Robin replies, his eyes (and somehow his mask) narrowing at the creature.

Nobody moves or says a word. There's total silence as your team and the creature stare at each-other, waiting for someone to break this silent stalemate. Ultimately, it's Killer Moth that makes the first move.

"Please, come in," he invites, stepping aside and gesturing toward his open doorway.

One by one, the team enter the house, finding yourselves in a pretty normal-looking living room with a sofa, a somewhat large television, and some odd pink decorations on the wall that you assume came from the creature's daughter.

"I must say, this is an unexpected visit," Killer Moth remarks as he shuts the door. "I was also unaware that there was a new member of your team."

The creature walks right up to you. "What should I call you?"

"Kid Crimson," you answer back after a moment of thought.

The reactions from the other Titans are hard to read, but you suppose there will be time to discuss that sort of thing later. Nobody seems particularly disgusted or displeased with it, in any case, and Killer Moth's nodding tells you that he, at least, will not have any trouble addressing you as that. You suppose that when you expect others to call you Killer Moth, it's not that difficult to be obliging with other people's names.

"Very well, Kid Crimson," Killer Moth says to you. "Welcome to my home."

He turns to Robin. "Now, what brings you here? Nothing has happened to Kitten, right?"

"We're not sure," Robin admits. "Earlier today, one of your moths got loose and was causing trouble in the city. We followed it back to the cage and found that somebody had cut a section away, a large enough section for a moth to fit through."

"One of my moths? Loose?!" the strange man asks in near panic.

"Don't worry about it," Cyborg reassures him. "I fixed up that break no problem. Your moths aren't going anywhere."

"Unless whoever released one the first time decides to do it again," Robin corrects.

"You think it's Kitten that did this?" Killer Moth asks.

"She does sort of have a history," Raven points out.

"So do I," Killer Moth reminds her. "And I've changed. Kitten has too."

"And where is she now?" Robin questions.

"She told me she was going shopping," Killer Moth answers. "She insists on making trips to the mall at least three times a week."

>A. "Do you know for a fact that that's where she is?"

>B. "I think she's lying to you, and since she's your daughter, you believe her."

>>
>>2182307
"Is there anyone else you can think of that might do this?" you ask.

"Anybody who knows about the moths on that island," Killer Moth answers. "And since most of the big players in this city keep an eye on as much as possible, that's probably a lot of people. It would also be someone who either wanted to cause some damage to the city, or frame my family for an attack."

"It couldn't just be Kitten?" Cyborg asks.

"What motive would she have for getting law enforcement and the Teen Titans after us?" Killer Moth questions.

That does make sense. What point would there be for Kitten to frame her own father for something like this? You've seen movies and shows where people pull that kind of stunt for money or revenge, but judging by the looks on everyone else's faces, those motives don't seem too likely in this case. Still, even if what Killer Moth says is true, and both he and Kitten can be eliminated as suspects, that still doesn't help you much, since, according to both him and Robin, there's a large number of people that could have done something like this.

"So, we don't have anything to actually find out who did this?" Beast Boy asks, disappointed.

"I do have ways of monitoring the island," Killer Moth tells him. "After what you've told me, I will be paying far closer attention. If whoever did this returns, I will find out, and they will pay for it."

"In the meantime, we'll be keeping an eye out, too," Robin tells him. "We're going to send some members of our team to the island to keep an eye on things."

"We promise that we shall do our best not to disturb your moths," Starfire assures Killer Moth.

The sincerity in her voice seems to convince him, and he doesn't voice any arguments, though something tells you that he's still not exactly thrilled about the idea.

"Very well," he agrees. "I only hope that you will not be staying there for long."

"Dude, trust us, none of us want to be there very long, either," Beast Boy tells him.

"Well then, I don't see much reason for us to stay here any longer," Raven decides. "Why don't we leave Killer Moth alone?"

"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Robin tells her.

"Nice meeting you, Mr. Moth," you say to the strange man as you and your friends prepare to leave his house.

He seems taken aback, and your teammates are giving you odd looks. You guess it isn't common to speak in such a formal or polite manner with former villains like that, but you didn't want to be rude.

"Please, call me Killer Moth," the man requests. "Mr. Moth was my father."

He starts laughing to himself, and you guess it's just a joke you didn't get. You give a polite little chuckle as you and the others step outside, closing the door behind yourselves and walking down the sidewalk off of Killer Moth's property. Cyborg presses something on his arm, while Robin steps toward the R-cycle.

"Mr. Moth?" Beast Boy asks you while the others do whatever it is they're doing.

"Alright, so for watching the island, I think that the two of you should go," he says, pointing to Beast Boy and Cyborg.

"What? Come oooon!" Beast Boy protests.

"You and Cyborg are the two best trackers we have," Robin reminds him. "If whoever let the moth out comes back, the two of you should be able to catch them no problem."

"What's wrong, BB?" Cyborg asks, clapping the green guy on the back. "Not in the mood for a little camping?"

"Shouldn't you be worried about that?" Beast Boy asks. "You need to recharge your battery, don't you?"

"He has a point," Raven admits. "And portable batteries haven't worked out too well for you in the past."

You hear the purr of the T-car before it comes driving up on its own, pulling up in front of Cyborg before coming to a stop. Was that what he tapped his arm for? You wonder if the R-cycle can be remotely called on like that.

"Alright, BB, let's get going," Cyborg tells Beast Boy. "The sooner we find out who did this, the sooner I can get a recharge, and you can go back to vegging on the couch for like three weeks."

Beast Boy hops into the car and buckles in. Cyborg does the same, and they get ready to get going.

"Does Raven have a car, too?" you ask in confusion.

"I don't need one," Raven assures you as she walks over to stand beside you.

Well, okay, she can fly, so she probably doesn't need one. But, is she saying that she's going to carry you all the way back to the tower? That would be very nice of her and all, but Beast Boy complained about carrying you that far, and you aren't sure how much easier Raven would find it. Beast Boy and Cyborg drive off in the T-car while you're thinking this over, so there's not much time to ask them. Starfire and Robin are zooming off on the R-cycle, which means they'd be halfway across the city before you'd even have time to vocalize any questions.

"Try not to freak out," Raven requests.

You're about to ask why you would freak out, when you suddenly find a dark shadow rolling up behind you, stretching over both you and Raven like a wave, and crashing down in front of you both, plunging you into darkness. Despite Raven's warnings, you feel as though you really are about to freak out.

"Don't panic," Raven's voice says from somewhere in the dark. "I'm taking us home."

Oh, so she's doing this. That kind of makes sense, but what exactly is she doing? Some kind of magic, probably, but how are you travelling, like in some floating black dome? A giant orb? Are you travelling through dimensions or something? Whatever the truth of the matter is, it gets you home fast, and the dark vanishes, leaving you standing beside Raven just outside of Titans Tower.

"Thanks for the lift," you tell her as she walks away.

"Don't mention it," she calls back.

You wait a few minutes to see if Robin and Starfire show up, then remember that they would have gone in through the garage, so there's not much point in waiting here for them. You go inside and up to the living room, where Robin takes a seat at the main computer. Starfire rushes off to find Silkie, and Raven is nowhere to be seen, so probably hanging out in her room. Cyborg and Beast Boy are out on their mission, and you suppose Robin's waiting to hear from them.

Until Beast Boy and Cyborg check in, or some sort of trouble happens, you have time to do whatever it is you want.

Raven suggested at one point that a meditation session with both her and Starfire would be a good thing for you, since your powers share similarities with both of theirs. Like Starfire, emotions give you your power, but like Raven, that power can break free of your control and cause terrible destruction if you let it. Between the two of them, you're almost a balance, and you think working with both of them may just be exactly what you need.

Raven's easy to find. Of course, she's in her room, but when you explain what you want to do, she assists you in tracking down Starfire, whom you find reading a children's story to Silkie. You find that somewhat strange, but Raven doesn't have any sort of reaction so you figure that this must be normal for Starfire. Raven explains what the two of you are hoping to do, and Starfire eagerly agrees, though she does say that she must finish reading to Silkie first and foremost.

"Come to my room when you're finished," Raven instructs of her, leaving the bubbly alien to continue reading to her "bumgorf", whatever that means. "And Peter, we're back home, and all of us know what you look like already. You can lose the mask. If you got it from Beast Boy, it's gotta stink."

You've tried not to notice, but she's right. You remove the mask, put it in your room until you need it later, then head over to Raven's room. The door slides open as soon as you knock, and you find it looking more or less how you last remember seeing it, only with less candles providing illumination, and most of those gathered on a single area of the floor. They do cast some rather unflattering light on some of the more macabre decorations in the room, and if Raven wasn't someone you'd already learned to trust, you'd probably have reservations about going in there.

Starfire arrives not one minute after you do, and though she still maintains her typical happy demeanor, there's something calmer about it than usual.

"Alright," Raven says, closing the door and gesturing to a spot near the candles. "Take a seat."

Both you and Starfire do as instructed, while Raven takes a seat across from the two of you.

"Starfire, you've done this plenty of times with me already," Raven tells the other girl. "So you know how this works. Peter, you haven't done this in your spare time, have you?"

You shake your head. "Just breathing exercises."

"They seem to be working well," Raven tells you. "But I find that meditation can be even more helpful."

She crosses her legs over each-other, each foot resting on the opposite thigh. "This is called the lotus position, and it's one of the most common positions for meditation."

You copy her, finding some slight discomfort in the pose, but sucking it up and waiting for her to explain further.

"Meditation is an inward process," Raven continues. "It's about dealing with your own mind, and your own emotions."

>>2182771

She looks to Starfire, and gives a small smile. "But, having friends to meditate with does make the process more calming, and more enjoyable."

Starfire grins, but Raven returns to her more serious demeanor.

"There are a few different approaches to meditation," Raven explains. "Every kind is a helpful manner of dealing with stress, but some have uses the others do not. You can choose to clear your mind of all thoughts, and just allow it to rest, free of distraction and stress."

"I find that particular method to be the hardest," Starfire tells you. "The mind tends to wander despite our best efforts to stop it."

Raven nods. "Yes, which is why I rarely use it. Another form of meditation is to focus on one thought, or one subject, and remove everything else from your conscious mind. It can be useful for reflection, or attempting to figure out a difficult problem. I use that method to concentrate on keeping my powers in check, but any other meditation will help me remain calm enough to control them most of the time."

"The third is most interesting," Starfire says. "You simply allow your thoughts to flow through your mind, as if you are watching leaves floating down a calm stream. Memories, hopes, or just about anything. When you see one you wish to focus on, simply let the other thoughts float away."

"It's similar to the focused meditation I just explained," Raven tells you. "But through this third method, you may come across something you'd forgotten, or that you hadn't consciously considered."

"I want to try the third way," you decide.

"Alright then, close your eyes," Raven instructs. "Don't focus on anything, let your thoughts flow freely in front of you. Find one you want to examine, then reach out to it."

"For some, it is helpful to say a mantra while performing the exercise of meditation," Starfire tells you.

"Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos...." you hear Raven quietly utter.

"Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos..." Starfire says shortly after.

You decide to go along with what they're doing for right now, repeating the mantra to yourself, and letting your thoughts flow freely. Without focusing on any one thought, you're able to see a great many. Many possibilities spread out before you; memories, hopes, worries, regrets, happy times, wonders, so many things to consider, enough to ponder for an eternity. And you can choose whichever of them you like. A select few seem to draw the closest to you, which you take to mean that they will be the easiest to reach out and focus on. There are others beyond them that you could perhaps reach with enough effort as well.

>A. Your parents. What family did you have before?

>B. Who were you before? What did Blood force you to forget

>C. Your powers; how do they work? What more can you do with them?

>D. Your friends, turn your thoughts to them. Perhaps reflecting on the good people in your life will help you to reach a more peaceful state of mind.

Who were you before all of this? What did Blood make you forget? It's something you've wondered about since the first day, but also something you've pushed to the wayside in order to focus on other things. But now, you can put your full attention into diving into those memories. They must be in there, somewhere.

At first, there's nothing. The earliest you've able to find is of yourself waking up in that room, surrounded by Blood and his followers. But as the seconds pass, you're able to slowly dig deeper.

You remember rushing across a busy street, terrified, as five figures doggedly pursued you. In your memory, you can't see what they look like, or even remember why they're chasing you, but you can remember the fear and terror you felt as they slowly gained. You ran into the street, heard the honk of a car horn, then saw nothing.

Another memory surfaces. You're lying under a bright light, possibly in the same room where you woke up later. Blood hovers over you, a look of concern on his face.

"I know it hurts, my friend," he tells you sympathetically. "But we'll fix you up as good as new, and punish them for what they did to you."

"Th-thank you, brother," you hear your own voice reply.

Everything goes dark again.

This can't be all that there is, there has to be more! You want answers, you need answers! You aren't going to give up, and you are going to find out what else is locked away inside of your mind. Your head hurts badly as you continue to push deeper, and you wonder if, at this point, you're actually doing your mind any good, or making things worse. This certainly doesn't feel very relaxing, but you don't care, you want to know more.

Another memory begins to manifest. Once again, you find yourself looking at Blood, but this time, you're on your feet. He stands before you with his back turned, and mechanical hands clasped behind his back. He stares off into an orange glow, like fire, seemingly oblivious to your presence.

You look to......you don't remember who she is, but she looks very familiar. She's a grown woman with long, blonde hair, and dark brown eyes. She is garbed in a purple cloak over strange-looking yellow armor. You can see an H on her chest, and can guess what that means. She stands still as stone, her eyes locked on Blood as he continues to stare off into nothingness. She seems to feel you looking at her, and her eyes shift to look at you. She gives you a reassuring smile, and motions for you to look at Blood.

When you do, he finally turns around, offering a kind, fatherly smile.

"I am quite impressed, truly," he remarks as he approaches you and the woman. "You've trained him quite well."

"Thank you, brother," the woman says to him, bowing her head.

"No, thank you," Blood says to her, grinning wickedly. "You have done much for the H.I.V.E., and your loyalty to us is without question. And now, you've even brought to us one of the young people that will change the world."

He looks to you. "You must be very proud, young man."

"This is a great honor, Brother," you tell him, bowing your head as....as she did.

"One well deserved," he tells you, placing a robotic hand on your shoulder with gentleness that surprises you. "You're clearly an excellent learner, and your potential is grander than you know. You will do great things."

"Then, is now the time for his ascension?" the woman asks.

"Soon," Blood assures her. "A few more days to ensure that everything is prepared perfectly, and to give another test or two to ensure that he truly has what it takes to face his glorious destiny."

The woman bows. "As you decree, Brother."

"I'm sorry," you tell the two of them, pushing yourself back into a lotus position, then uncrossing your legs and sitting a bit more normally.

"It's alright," Raven tells you. "As soon as your control started to slip, I was able to put a barrier around you. It stopped the worst of this."

"But please, friend, are you alright?" Starfire asks worriedly.

That's not an easy question for you to answer right now. Your powers are back under control with very little damage having been done, and you were able to learn more than you knew before. But what you learned doesn't make you feel very good, and you aren't even entirely sure if you can trust it.

"What is it?" Raven asks, apparently able to tell that something is wrong.

"Yes, please, tell us what it is that you have seen," Starfire pleads.

You consider keeping the truth to yourself for right now, but decide that it's better to tell them now. Waiting could cause them to think you don't trust them, and to lose trust in you. Besides that, if what you saw is true, it could mean trouble down the line, and you want your friends to be ready. You're afraid to tell them, at least a little bit. You're unsure how they will react. But, they haven't abandoned you yet, despite some of the trouble you've caused.

"Blood," you finally answer. "I saw myself working for Blood."

I think we might be one of blood's body dounle. Since he is a telepath it would be easy to transfer his mind to another body. Think like this, we needed 5o be tested to see if we would survive/debelop psychic powers, brainwashed to be faithfull to him, and most likely our mother/caretaker (or at least the one we think it's her) is from the hive.

I had a good time, so thanks for running, first of all. I look forward to the next one.

Secondly, I think we're in a decent place for the moment. Pete's personality hasn't totally solidified yet, but we have a few trends. Cautious and thoughtful when the situation isn't demanding, but more reckless in the heat of the moment (Tapping into too much power with Robin, the ill advised eating contest, accosting the mugger and even diving too deep into his own memories). Polite, with a sense of humor depending on how you interpret some lines.

I think we have a good mix of intrigue, action and character interaction at the moment. I personally like the interaction the most. This may just be the nature of quests but I want to hang out with everybody, and always worry that there is simply not enough time.

Anyway, keep up the good quest and sorry for the Jojo reference.

The girls stare down at you in a mixture of shock, confusion, and thoughtfulness. They're surprised by this connection, just as you were, of course, but they're confused as well, and trying to think up possible explanations even seconds after you said a vague sentence about your vision.

"What kind of vision was it?" Raven asks. "The past? The future? A fear? What were you trying to accomplish when you saw yourself working for Blood?"

You explain to her that you were attempting to dig into your repressed memories and find out what Brother Blood had made you forget. You tell her that you saw Blood preparing you for surgery, saw yourself in an accident like what Blood had described while being chased by five people, and that an even earlier memory had you and some blonde woman speaking to Blood, who had said that you were going to be given a great honor and do amazing things.

"Any honor given by Brother Blood is one that I would not care to receive," Starfire comments, holding her shoulders as if she were suddenly very cold.

"Me neither, but I'm not sure if these memories are even correct," Raven tells the two of you. "Blood's clearly messed with your head, Peter, and it's not out of the question that he planted false memories in there to make you more cooperative."

"But what if these are really his memories?" Starfire asks with concern.

That's a good question. Does that mean you were an enemy of the Titans before? Were they the ones that caused your accident? What were you going to do, and will remembering it make you want to do it? If you remember who you were, will you turn back to Blood's side? What kinds of things could you have done in Blood's service?

"It doesn't matter who I was before," you tell Starfire. "I'm a Titan now, and I don't plan on letting that change."

Starfire and Raven both seem to accept this answer, and there's a kind of understanding in their eyes that makes you wonder a bit about their backgrounds. You know Starfire's an alien, and Raven has magic, but you know pretty much nothing about where they came from, and who they were before joining the Titans. Same goes for Beast Boy and Cyborg. Robin, you kind of know a bit about, since he used to work with Batman, but you don't know why he left, or why there's been another two Robins in Gotham since he left....wait, how do you know about that?

"You are right," Starfire tells you gently. "I apologize if my question offended you. I did not intend to imply anything bad about you."

You assure her that it's alright (the girl's so sweet and genuine, you don't know how Robin can ever say no to anything with her), though a part of you does worry along the same lines as what she had been fearing.

"More may become clear with time," Raven suggests, lighting the candles around her room to provide it with its normal level of illumination, which still isn't much. "I suggest you stop for today, though. Too much of this won't be good for your mind."

"I should probably try to get my mind back into a good place," you tell the two as you rise and start making your way to the door. "Thank you both for the help."

Raven says nothing, but Starfire tells you that it was no trouble and that she is happy to be of assistance.

The door slides shut behind you as you begin the walk back to your room. Your steps are slow, and you're deep in thought as you make the trip. Despite what you said to the girls, these memories do concern you. You meant what you said about being a Titan now, and not intending for that to change, but the idea that Blood may have told you the truth, and that you were once his friend, or at least his ally, worries you more than you wanted to express back there. And there's some tiny, nagging thought whispering in the back of your mind; what if the five that were chasing you were the Titans?

You shake that thought away. They would have said something if it was their fault, they would have told you the truth. Wouldn't they?

Arriving at your door, you open it and nearly have your heart jump out of your chest as you see Brother Blood sitting on your bed, giving you a sinister smile. The sudden burst of fear causes a barrier to form in front of you, essentially creating a wall where the open door-frame is. You try to make up your mind on whether to fight or call for help, but when you recover from your shock, you see that Blood is no longer there, if he was even there to begin with.

What's going on with that?

Dropping the barrier, you step into your room, and, after taking a few minutes to make sure that you're truly alone, take a seat on your bed. You run through the exercises you've been using to keep yourself calm, and your powers under control. It's a bit more difficult than normal, given the strong emotions that keep rearing their heads. You do manage to complete them, however, and open your eyes to find yourself still alone in your room, and in a much calmer state of mind.

That is, until you hear an all-too familiar voice that makes your blood run cold.

"Peter."

You jump to your feet, looking around the room for any sign of the man to whom that voice belongs. You keep expecting a metallic hand to shoot out from under your bed, or a glowing red eye to glare at you from the closet, but you see nothing. You feel like a frightened child who thinks there's a monster somewhere in his room.

But you're not imagining things, you can't be. You heard his voice.

"Leave me alone!" you shout to your unseen foe.

To anyone watching, you'd surely look like a lunatic, screaming into the air at some invisible entity. And, considering that silence follows what you said, you can't help but feel like a bit of a lunatic as well. Maybe your mind's just been jolted by what you saw.

But no, you hear something again. Laughter, like a parent whose child just said something adorable and foolish.

"Peter, you don't understand," Blood's voice tells you. "You are never alone."

That tears it, you need help. Whether this is real or not, it's a major problem. Either Blood has infiltrated the tower (or is contacting you with telepathy), or you're losing your mind. Either way, you need guidance, and your teammates need to know.

Robin's the leader, he should be informed of this kind of trouble. And besides, as leader, he may be the very best person to ask what to do in this situation. Or, maybe not, you doubt Robin's ever had something like this happen to him. Still, you decide to go to him and inform him of the situation.

You run out of your room, fearfully looking around at all times for some sign of Brother Blood. You don't see anything, but you can swear that you hear his laughter as you rush for help. As the door to the living room slides open, it vanishes.

Robin is right where you left him, and doesn't look away from the screen as you enter the room. It's only when you rush over that he turns to see what's going on, and even through his mask, you can see curiosity and a bit of apprehension on his face.

"Peter, what's wrong?" he asks.

"I keep seeing Brother Blood," you blurt out, knowing how ridiculous that sounds. "And now I'm hearing his voice, too."

"Wait, are you saying that Blood's in the tower?" Robin asks, already reaching for something in his belt.

"No, that's not it," you tell him.

And then you explain everything; how it started with a barely recognizable figure that appeared for about two seconds then disappeared as you assured yourself he couldn't be there. Then he appeared again, clearer that time, and now, you found him sitting on your bed, and heard him speak to you when you were alone.

"You're sure about this?" Robin asks. "You're not just overtired or over-stressed?"

"I don't know for sure, but I don't think that's it," you tell him honestly.

Robin frowns, not saying anything for a while. He doesn't dismiss what you just said out and out, but you aren't sure what he's thinking. Maybe of a mental hospital to put you in, or a way to gently tell you that you're off the team. You begin to worry, but when Robin speaks again, a lot of that worry melts away.

"Something similar happened to me in the past," Robin admits with a sigh. Clearly, this is something he does not want to revisit. "I kept seeing and hearing one of our worst enemies, Slade. I could see him, I could hear him, I could touch him, and he could touch me. None of the others could see him, but I was so sure that he was there, that we were fighting, and that he was winning. The others tried telling me he wasn't real, but I didn't listen. It turned out we were both right."

You wonder how that works. How can a person be real and not real at the same time? Then again, you yourself are proof that thoughts and emotion can have power.

"Thank you for telling me this," Robin says to you. "I'll have a look through our security systems to see if anybody was in the tower that shouldn't have been. If nothing turns up, Cyborg and Raven will be our best bets for finding out what's going on."

He looks you right in the eye and speaks in a commanding tone. "If you see Blood again, don't try to fight him. Find any of us you can, call for help, but don't attack. Blood's too dangerous of an opponent for you to handle alone."

"Thank you, Robin," you say politely.

"No problem," he answers, turning back to his screen. "And keep me posted on this situation. If this keeps happening, I want to know about it."

You're relieved that Robin is taking your words seriously, but you still do worry just a bit about what's going to happen if it turns out that Blood's really not there. Right now, there seems to be no choice but to cross that bridge if and when you come to it. Sitting around worrying won't do you any good. Maybe some exercise is what you need right now.

At this point, you think you spend more time in the training room than anybody except for Robin, and you unsurprisingly find it empty when you arrive. With the place to yourself, you can use any equipment you want, but first you decide to run a few laps as a good warm up. Once that's done, you make up your mind.

After everything you've been through today, from meditation gone wrong, to visions and sounds of a villain that probably isn't even present in the tower, to the stress of dealing with it all, you think your mind's earned a little bit of rest for right now. You'll keep things simple, and do a bit of physical training. Your powers may come from the mind, but it won't do to neglect the body.

Weight-lifting has its limits without a spotter present. You know better than to go for anything heavy, and do some curls with weights you can hold in a single hand. You get bored of that before long, though, and decide to go hit some training dummies. That's considerably more fun. You throw some punches, jabs, a few kicks, finding yourself to be a bit stronger than you expected. That's a pleasant surprise. It's not super strength by any stretch of the imagination, but it's decent human strength.

As you keep striking the dummies, you find yourself aiming more for specific parts of them; the nose, various points along the neck and shoulder, you're not really sure why you're doing it, but your hits are striking where you're aiming, so you guess that it's decent practice.

After about an hour, you're quite tired, and figure that you've done enough exercise for today. You decide to call it quits, and grab a towel, wiping some of the sweat off of your face as you think about what to do next.

First thing's first. You need to get yourself cleaned and changed. Between wearing that smelly mask Beast Boy gave you, and the workout you just had, you probably aren't smelling so great. You decide to hit the showers. Once you've taken a relaxing shower and gotten dressed, you decide to go visit someone. A tiny someone who introduced himself to you in a way as strange as his appearance.

Silkie.

Your first place to check is around Starfire's room, but her door is open, and there's no sign of the little guy in there from what you can tell. You doubt he'd go near Raven's room, and you don't think you should go into anyone else's room without permission, so you decide to walk the halls in search of Silkie.

The little guy is one small larva in a giant tower, so finding him isn't easy. In fact, you think you spend something along the lines of an hour looking for him before you decide to head back to your room, where you find him curled up on your pillow, for some reason also wearing the luchador mask Beast Boy gave you.

He wakes up as you step into the room, and you take the mask off of him. He looks up at you with that strangely cute smile of his, and makes a noise that you think is a greeting of some sort.

Maybe Beast Boy would understand the language?

"You hungry?" you ask the little larva, reaching out your hand to pet him.

Silkie nuzzles into your palm, then rolls over so that you can rub his belly. He certainly doesn't seem to have any real trouble being affectionate, and in his strange, wormy-way, he's pretty cute. The promise of food makes it so that he doesn't stick around to play for very long. He hops off the bed and works his way out of your room, taking a path right to the living room, and the kitchen.

You're right behind him, or so you think. That thing moves quickly, as you soon discover when you walk into the hall and find that he's nowhere to be seen. With a shrug, you decide to meet him there, and just calmly walk to the kitchen, where you find the little guy sitting on the counter, looking toward you expectantly, and somewhat impatiently.

You whip him up a bowl of that paste he's so fond of, and a bowl of water as well, in case he gets thirsty. Silkie digs into his dinner with joy, and you decide to make yourself something, deciding on a steak-umm and some chips. By the time you're sitting down to eat, Silkie has long since finished, and decided to take a nap on the counter. Does he do anything besides eat and sleep?

"Hey, Cyborg," you hear Robin say, prompting you to look toward the big screen, which is displaying a rather large video feed of your teammate's face. "Anything to report?"

"We haven't seen anything," Cyborg answers. "Beast Boy hasn't been able to sniff anything out, and I'm getting nothing on my scanners. I'm starting to think our mystery creep isn't gonna show."

"You might be right," Robin admits.

"Does that mean we can come back?" Beast Boy asks, forcing his way into the picture.

"No," Robin answers as Cyborg pushes Beast Boy away. "The day isn't over, and there's no telling if our perp will show up at night. Keep an eye out, contact me if anything comes up, and if nobody shows up by tomorrow, you can come back and we'll just set up some surveillance."

"You sure that's a good idea?" Cyborg asks. "We aren't supposed to have cameras or anything close to this island, let alone on it."

"We're not supposed to be on the island, either," Robin points out. "But Killer Moth wants this guy stopped as much as we do, so I don't think he'll complain much if we put up a few cameras to keep an eye out."

>A. "Are we sure that Killer Moth's not behind this?"

"What about his daughter, Kitten?" you ask. "Shouldn't somebody check up on her just in case?"

You may not know much about the villains, and you at least partially buy that Killer Moth isn't the one behind this, but his daughter Kitten is very troublesome from what you hear, and if she has some reason to make her father a target, or to terrorize the city, you doubt she'd hesitate to do so.

"He's got a point," Cyborg says in agreement. "I don't think Killer Moth would do this, but I'm a lot less sure about Kitten."

"Alright," Robin tells Cyborg. "We'll look into it. You and Beast Boy stay there and keep an eye on things, I'll send some of the others to keep an eye on Kitten."

"Got it, later man," Cyborg says before the transmission ends.

Robin gets up out of his chair, stretches, then turns to you. "Once you're done eating, get ready. I'm sending you out to keep an eye on Kitten."

Cool, they took your suggestion, and now Robin's sending you on a special assignment. You guess they're starting to think pretty highly of y-

"I'll be sending either Raven or Starfire with you," Robin adds. "I'll let you choose which of them to bring along."

Okay, so you're getting chaperoned. Makes sense, though. You've only been a Titan for less than a day. You just need to figure out who to bring with you. Starfire's likely to be the more pleasant company, and her alien strength and powers could definitely come in handy if it comes to a fight. Raven's magic is powerful, and your powers might compliment hers well, but there is the issue of the two of you not having so much of an edge in a physical fight if it comes to that.

It shouldn't, at least not from what you can tell by the attitudes of the others, but it's still something to consider.

"I'll bring Raven," you decide.

"Alright, finish your dinner, I'll call her and bring her up to speed," Robin tells you, pulling out his communicator.

You take a few minutes to enjoy your dinner while a sleeping Silkie continues to snore on the counter in front of you. Not exactly the greatest meal on the planet, but it's tasty enough, and drives away hunger just fine. By the time Raven arrives to depart for the mission, your appetite is sated, and you're itching to go out and do some work as a Titan. Raven sees the excitement on her face, and looks a little bit worried, but doesn't say anything about it. Right, emotion control. You take a breath just to be safe.

"I'll start trying to locate Kitten," Robin tells you as he returns to his spot at the computers. "The two of you get going, I'll contact you once I find her."

Once again, Raven transports the two of you across the city with her magic, keeping you in near-total darkness the entirety of the trip. By now, you at least know you don't have reason to panic, but moving so quickly in this unending blackness is still a bit disorienting, so it's a relief when Raven finally lets you off the strange ride.

You find yourself on a rooftop, looking over a large parking lot about half-full of various motor vehicles. People seem to be going in and out of the building in steady streams, many leaving with large plastic bags of different designs and with different contents. It doesn't take long for you to realize that Raven's brought you to the mall. Killer Moth did mention that Kitten goes there several times a week, but you thought she was here much earlier in the day.

Raven stands mostly still, looking around the parking lot for any signs of Kitten.

You decide to follow Raven's example, looking out over the parking lot for any sort of suspicious activity. There are dozens of people going in and out of the building at any given time, but none of them really seem to warrant a second-glance. At one point, some sudden car-honking and yelling draws your attention and makes you fear trouble's here, but based on what you can tell, someone was speeding through the parking-lot, and had some close-calls that understandably angered others. You and Raven keep an eye on that for a minute to make sure a brawl doesn't break out, but nothing more comes of it, and you return to people-watching.

You're glad when Raven's communicator goes off, and Robin finally gives the two of you some new information.

"I've found Kitten," he tells Raven. "She's wearing a disguise, but I'm sure it's her."

"A disguise?" Raven asks with a raised eyebrow.

"Here, I'll send you and Peter a picture," Robin says just before your own communicator beeps.

Opening up the communicator, you see a picture of a blonde girl wearing a hoodie and jeans, seeming to be looking out for something as she enters a building.

"Alright, let's do this," you tell Raven, who puts away her communicator and surrounds you both in darkness.

The trip is thankfully shorter this time, though when you find yourself once again on a rooftop, you briefly wonder if you went anywhere other than in a circle. The surrounding area is different enough that you quickly realize that you are indeed in a different area; a street lined with various shops, restaurants, even a video rental store (you didn't think those still existed, but that's neat). Raven doesn't say a word, just starting her search right away, and you follow her lead, scanning the streets for Kitten.

Since Raven has more experience with the girl, it doesn't surprise you that she finds her first, pointing out a figure in a hoodie emerging from the video-store with a small bag in her hand. She looks around a bit before making her way to a Chinese restaurant across the street. A few minutes later, she emerges with a bag of food, and once again looks around before heading down the sidewalk.

A few moments later, she stops, sets down her bag, and pulls out a cell phone, looking down at it and waiting a moment before putting it to her ear.

"Should we get closer so we can hear what she's saying?" you ask.

Raven doesn't take her eyes off of Kitten when she answers. "Hearing what she's saying would help, but she's already paranoid and looking out for people following her. If we get in close, we might get spotted, and I'd rather not deal with her directly if I can avoid it."

Okay, from how everyone seems to talk about this Kitten girl, she is not particularly pleasant to be around. Given that she's a criminal, that doesn't surprise you, but this seems to go even beyond that. That makes you both worried and curious.

"You can try if you want," Raven tells you. "But I'm staying here."

Raven's much more experienced than you are, and while you consider that Kitten probably doesn't know you're a Titan, you still decide that, in her state of paranoia, she might pick up on somebody eavesdropping. You stay on the roof and watch with Raven as the girl has her phone-call, seeming to become more and more agitated as the seconds pass. Finally, she actually shouts loudly enough to hear even on the roof, though all you can make out is "smothering me". At that point, Kitten notices a bunch of people stopping and staring at her. With a huff, the puts her phone away and walks off.

Raven helps you follow with her, watching as Kitten gets to a disgustingly pink car and drives away in it. Raven pulls out her communicator and calls Robin, asking that he tell her what direction Kitten is heading in.

"I need to know where I'm going if I want to transport both of us there," Raven explains to you. "Otherwise, I'd have to carry you everywhere while we followed her."

You guess that makes sense.

After a few minutes, Robin responds.

"It looks like she's heading home," Robin informs her.

"So, she's probably not in on this," Raven suggests.

"Did her shouting about someone smothering her mean anything to you guys?" you ask the two other Titans.

"Probably just talking to her father or boyfriend or something," Raven replies with a shrug. "Not something I'd really worry about."

"Between that and her dressing the way she is, there could be something going on, though," Robin admits.

"Well, do you want us to come back?" you question, not sure what consensus the two Titans are going to reach.

"Actually, stake out Killer Moth's house for a little while," Robin instructs. "Just in case."

Raven groans, and you feel a little bad for dragging her out on this assignment. At the same time, if something really is going on, you feel it's only right that the two of you find out and do something about it. You just hope you're not dragging her along on a wild goose chase.

"I still haven't heard anything from Beast Boy or Cyborg," Robin updates the two of you. "For now, we still don't have any idea what's going on, so any potential lead is worth looking into."

"Alright," Raven tells him. "We'll keep an eye on the house."

"Good, I'll call you guys if the situation changes," Robin promises. "Robin out."

Not saying anything, Raven puts away her communicator, and once again envelopes you in darkness. A few minutes later, you're across the street from Killer Moth's house, presumably on the roof of one of his neighbors.

Raven takes a seat and looks across the street at the seemingly-calm house. You take a seat as well, and the two of you sit in silence.

"Sorry for dragging you out here," you tell Raven as the two of you watch the quiet house.

"It's okay," she answers after a second. "Robin's right, we should follow every lead we can."

The two of you sit in silence for a few more minutes, and during that time you think about the trouble you've been having back at the tower; Blood showing up, speaking to you, then disappearing or going silent just as quickly. Robin told you of a similar experience with someone named Slade, but didn't really go into detail of what was happening. Raven might be able to tell you, and if it's something psychic or magic, she might be able to guess at what it is. You've had to rely on her for a lot since you got to the tower, and you hope she isn't getting annoyed by it. Still, she's been a trustworthy and helpful friend, so you feel you can talk to her.

"Hey, can I talk to you about something?" you ask, glancing over at her.

"Go ahead," Raven answers, not looking at you.

You explain all that's been happening as far as that Blood problem back at the tower, going through the details of each encounter you've had, and how you don't know if it's even real. Raven listens quietly as you go through everything, and stays quiet for a few moments after you finish.

"Brother Blood is a psychic, and a very powerful one," she finally says. "He could be touching your mind from wherever he is."

"Can I block him out?" you ask.

Raven thinks for a moment in silence, the look on her face as neutral as always, but something in her eyes does not inspire confidence when she finally turns to look at you.

"I don't think you can," she answers. "Blood's a much more powerful psychic than you are, and he's got a lot of willpower. He'd be able to pierce any mental barriers you put up. Maybe if you become more powerful as a psychic, you'll be able to keep him out of your head. But for now, it won't work if he really wants to mess with your mind."

You're kind of surprised to hear an answer like that. Raven usually seems to have an answer to just about anything. This is still technically an answer, but not one you were hoping to hear. What are you supposed to do if Blood keeps this up? Lose your mind? It can't hurt to ask Raven for more advice, you suppose.

"What should I do?" you ask, trying not to sound desperate.

"Do everything you can to ignore him," Raven tells you, like a teacher telling a child to ignore an obnoxious classmate. "Don't acknowledge his presence, don't give any sign that he's getting to you. In the meantime, I'll search my books for any rituals that might be able to help you."

With Raven having given you any and all advice that she can on the matter, you decide to stop pestering her with questions and go back to doing your job. For over an hour, the two of you sit there watching the house, looking for anything that could have gone amiss. Not much can be seen, since Kitten drew the curtains shortly after returning home. There's no signs of anybody entering or leaving the house, and it quickly becomes very dull to watch. You do your best to remain focused on the mission, though. Even so, when your communicator finally beeps, you feel relieved.

"Raven, Peter, the moths have been freed. They're heading right for the city!" he tells the two of you, sounding quite horrified.

Raven's shocked expression does not make you feel very good about this situation, either, but the two Titans largely regain their composure after a few seconds, though they're both obviously on edge.

"What about Beast Boy and Cyborg?" Raven asks.

"I haven't heard anything from them," Robin answers. "Right now, all we can do is fight off the moths as best we can, and hope that they're okay."

"Where do you want us?" Raven asks, standing.

"They're spreading all over the city," Robin answers in frustration. "Just pick an area, and start scaring moths back to the island."

Raven's too absorbed in talking with Robin to notice as the door to Moth's house swings open, and he rushes across his yard, not even bothering to shut the door before sprinting off as fast as he can.

"Killer Moth's running somewhere!" you announce to the others.

Raven looks up from her communicator to see the strange moth-creature sprinting away from his house, and holds a hand out toward him, catching the "former" villain by surprise and engulfing him in some sort of darkness that clings to his body, keeping him completely restrained and unable to retreat.

"I can't hold him for long," Raven tells you, holding a hand toward you.

An invisible force pushes you, and you flail your arms as you're thrown from the roof, terrified as you begin to fall. You somehow come to a slow landing, however, and think you understand what Raven wants you to do. You run across the street, coming up to Killer Moth as he struggles in Raven's magical grip.

"Let me go, Titans!" he demands. "I need to get to the island! I need to fix this!"

For some reason, you honestly believe that he's telling the truth. And, if he is, and really wants to help, you can't exactly afford to refuse. There's got to be at least a hundred of those giant moths on the island, and one of them was difficult enough to deal with. With Beast Boy and Cyborg nowhere to be found, you doubt that you and the others can fend off that many of those things. If Killer Moth can fix this, he may be the city's only hope.

You look toward Raven, waving to get her attention, and mouthing for her to let him go. Whether she knew what you were trying to say, or she just couldn't hold her grip any longer, she releases Killer Moth.

"Explain, Raven can get us there faster," you tell him, wanting to get on the same page and get moving as quickly as possible.

Moth looks toward the other Titan, who is in the process of floating over from her perch on top of the house to join the two of you. He starts when he's confident that she's within earshot.

"Someone destroyed a massive section of the cage," he explains frantically. "Not only that, but they frightened the moths into swarming toward the city. I had an emergency system in place that would allow me to recall them to the island, but it's not working."

"Then what do you plan to do to fix this?" Raven asks in an irritated tone.

"The recall system sends out a sound that only the moths can hear, calling them back to the island," Killer Moth explains. "If it isn't working, somebody probably sabotaged the signal tower, and I need to repair it. If it isn't repaired, the moths will destroy the entire city."

Raven doesn't look like she's entirely buying this, but decides to go with it for now. "Fine, but if you try anything, you'll regret it."

"Of course," Moth replies, not appreciating her attitude, but understanding that she means what she says. "Now, can you get us to the island?"

Raven spreads her cloak, and you find yourself surrounded by a darkness that you're becoming steadily more used to. Killer Moth doesn't seem to mind it that much, but you guess that being part-moth makes darkness not a big deal to him.

When you're able to see again, you understand that Killer Moth was at least partly telling the truth. The cage hasn't been opened. Instead, it's been badly damaged.

"When I find whoever did this...." Killer Moth growls.

"Never mind that!" Raven tells him. "Can you fix it?"

"Of course I can, but I need to repair the tower first," he answers.

"We should split up," you suggest. "Raven, you can look for Beast Boy and Cyborg, I can go help Mr. Moth, in case whoever did this tries to stop him."

"I'm capable of defending myself, Kid Crimson," Killer Moth replies. "However, your presence could allow me to avoid that distraction."

"There's no time to look for Cyborg and Beast Boy," Raven tells you, though her tone tells you she wants nothing more than to find out what happened to them. "Robin and Starfire can't handle this many of those things alone."

"She's right," Killer Moth admits. "Even your entire team would not be a match for this many of my moths. Two of them will be overwhelmed in minutes."

Okay, so both Killer Moth and Raven are in agreement that Robin and Starfire need backup as soon as possible. But, Moth also admitted that you sticking around could let him focus better on his task, and reduce the chance of someone interfering. At the same time, you want to find the missing Titans, and believe that they really could make a difference if they were around to help.

Had fun, as always.

Out of curiosity, have you considered introducing any mechanics to this game? I haven't been in many quest threads, but I've seen them from time to time. There's always the risk of getting bogged down with them, but I admit I kind of like them.

A simple one might be to do something like Mutants and Masterminds hero points. You could mark certain choices that are disadvantageous, but in keeping with Peter's personality (and conducive to the story you want to tell), and reward its selection with a hero point, which could later be spent on actions (similarly marked) which yield enhanced results.
>>
>>2189053
I've thought about it, mostly decided against it, though
>>
>>2189019
Makes sense. Thinking on it, I actually kind of like it. It's better than having everyone agree with the protag all the time.
>>2189030
>"Fine," Raven tells you, not sounding entirely satisfied with that, but not caring enough to argue.
I guess having faith in BB and Cyborg's capabilities isn't a completely valid idea.
Definitely had fun.
>>
>>2189086
She doesn't like taking any strength away from the defense of the city, especially to protect Killer Moth. She's also just frustrated with the situation.
>>
>>2189091
That's reasonable. I fully expect to be asked to account for our decisions. And I think we have a pretty good case to make.

The best possible outcome would be: Raven backs up Starfire and Robin, we find Cyborg and Beastboy, the three of us help minimize damage to the city, and Moth fixes the signal without issue. But that assumes everything goes smoothly. By sticking with Moth we're throwing away the best possible outcome to prevent the worst possible outcome (Moth fails to repair the moth signal, and 2-6 titans completely fail to contain 100 giant moths).

I'm digging Peter as a character, and if his characterization indicates what kind of person he was under Blood's command, then I can absolutely understand his anger at being betrayed by us. We're thoughtful, polite, studious and hard working. We've also shown good judgement by hearing Moth out and getting him to the island faster than he might have gotten there himself (assuming we don't get betrayed). Our primary weakness so far is that in the heat of the moment, we take some unnecessary risks (pushing our power too hard, engaging in ill advised eating contests).

Blood might not be able to see other people as anything more than pawns, but we very well could have been a pawn he really liked, our place in his plan aside.
>>
>>2189165
That's an interesting view of Peter, anon, and your view of the possible situations is also well-thought-out.

Pretty much exactly what I thought about our choices with the current situation, gotta prevent worst-case scenarios to to hedge your bets for a decent outcome.
I also really liked your write-up about Peter as a character. Really adds a potential layer on Blood's interactions with past-us. Wow, the teen titans are assholes for taking away his favorite minion.
>>
>>2189183
Well, you're partly right.

>>2189181
A restraining order?
>>
>>2189183
Thanks. I need to do another, thorough re-read of the quest, but a few details I think are important to note:

1. Does anyone recognize the woman from our memory?

>She's a grown woman with long, blonde hair, and dark brown eyes. She is garbed in a purple cloak over strange-looking yellow armor. You can see an H on her chest, and can guess what that means.

Since Jinx didn't recognize us, we were probably handed over to Blood after she left, but she might recognize this woman by description.

2. Its possible that Blood appearing to us is not psychic in nature, but rather mental reprogramming. A deep scan might reveal that, though I worry we're demanding too much of Raven.

3. Exploring our memories may unlock some of our skills. Compare our first and second sparring sessions with Robin with this:

>As you keep striking the dummies, you find yourself aiming more for specific parts of them; the nose, various points along the neck and shoulder, you're not really sure why you're doing it, but your hits are striking where you're aiming, so you guess that it's decent practice.

We might want to check in with Robin and get re-trained, in case our fighting style is too dangerous. Wouldn't want to find out we've been trained in the league of assassins exchange-student program.

>though I worry we're demanding too much of Raven.
You have sort of used her as a crutch since you got to the tower.
>>
>>2189687
We have.

I think the best option, as a amnesiac of integrity and good manners, is to correct our behavior.

I don't think we've been wrong to ask for help in our time of need, but we have ONLY asked for help from Raven. We've been treating her as a resource instead of as a teammate or friend.

We shouldn't let that prevent us from getting help when we need it, but after everyone sleeps off this mission, we should re-approach our relationship with her.

For one, lets try to make use of the tools she's given us and see how far we can get on our own. No more deep dives during meditation until we get a better handle on things though.

Second, we should try to connect with Raven as a person. We should consider talking to Starfire about this situation. Dumping it at Raven's feet would just be once again making our problems her problem.

Enemy (Brother Blood): What IS known is that Brother Blood had some purpose in mind for Peter, and when Peter awoke from his accident, he betrayed Blood. Whatever the truth is, Blood is very very upset.

Enigma: Peter has precious few memories of his pre-accident self. Assuming those are real memories. And that there was, in fact, an accident. And that Peter even is his real name.

Heat of the Moment: While normally level headed, Peter is prone to getting caught up in moments of excitement, and making bold, though not necessarily wise choices.
