Hello, good people of /qst/. This quest is, as is probably obvious from the OP pic, based on the Teen Titans animated series. You'll be taking the part of a young man and potential Titan, guiding him through his trials and tribulations.

>Rules

There will be a 15 minute voting period between posts.

Please only choose one option (I will let you know in cases where you can choose more)

An option with two arrows (>>) beside it is one that can be combined with other options

Write-ins of dialogue are allowed, but they won't be put in as-written, just sort of the spirit of the write-in. Additionally, dialogue write-ins require a significant amount of support from other players to be put in, as they can greatly affect the character.

Action write-ins will only be allowed under certain circumstances, which I'll announce. You can suggest an action to me if you want, and I may allow it, but might not depending on various factors.

No dice system in this quest. Victory and defeat will come down to decisions rather than random luck. Learn from experiences, develop strategies, and think outside the box at times (like I said, an action can be suggested to me).

Above all, have fun. I want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone. Through success, failure, and everything in-between, I hope this will be an adventure worth remembering.

Standing guard while a half-moth former super villain repairs a giant signal tower to recall a swarm of giant moths that are attacking the city is not how you expected your evening to be spent. But, here you are, on top of a rocky cliff, keeping watch over the island below for signs of trouble, while Killer Moth works frantically to repair the damage done to his signal tower. He definitely knows what he's doing, and from what you can tell, he's making good time, but you wish he would finish faster. You're worried about the city, and you're worried about your friends.

Robin and Starfire went to battle the swarming moths, with the Boy Wonder instructing you and Raven to help. Instead, you wound up bringing Killer Moth here, and standing guard while Raven went to help the others. It's three versus at least a hundred giant bugs, and both Beast Boy and Cyborg are nowhere to be found. You want to find your missing friends a lot more than you want to be standing here twiddling your thumbs while Killer Moth does his repairs, but you volunteered for this for a reason. If Moth can't repair the tower, then it won't matter if the whole team is out there; you won't be able to stop these things. And, if whoever let the giant moths out in the first place decides to come back and prevent Killer Moth from fixing the tower, you want to be here to stop him.

So far, you don't see anything.

"How's it coming?" you ask Moth, not looking at him. You don't want someone to catch you unawares, after all.

"It's still going to be a few more minutes," Killer Moth answers, frustration clear even in his strange voice. "Whoever did this made a real mess. And once the tower's repaired, I'm going to have to get back home."

"Why?" you ask, still not looking.

"The release and return buttons are hidden in my home," he answers, cutting out near the end as the sound of power tools being used fills the air. "They're hidden behind a bullet-proof window that only opens for me. I didn't want Kitten, or that goof-for-nothing boyfriend of hers to get any funny ideas. Now it's looking like I should have made a remote control."

Even Killer Moth doesn't trust Kitten not to pull something? Geeze, you almost feel sorry for the girl. You don't really know anything about her boyfriend, but from the sounds of it, he doesn't have a good track-record either. You wonder what the story is with him.

Out of the corner of your eye, you see someone or something duck down behind a large stone on the ground below. It's right down the hill you used to reach this cliff, and positioned in such a way that you completely lose sight of the prowler when they move behind it. You don't have time to get a good look, and you don't even know what you saw. It could be Beast Boy or Cyborg.

Or, it could be your culprit.

"Hey, Mr. Moth? We've got company," you inform your charge as you look toward the stone.

"Keep them occupied," Moth instructs as he continues his work. "I should be done soon."

Great, so it's you against whoever this is with no backup. You more-or-less expected that much, but you aren't thrilled at the idea of having to fight this person alone, especially after what happened when you tangled with that mugger. You'll have to be a little smarter this time. You work up your nerve, and shout toward the boulder.

"Whoever's there, show yourself!" you call.

At first, nothing happens. Then, you faintly hear a noise, followed by the boulder cracking and a red light shooting from it, right at you. Instinctively, you create a barrier, and the red light strikes it dead-center with what would have probably been a killing shot if you hadn't blocked it. As it is, your force-field shatters, and you're thrown to the ground. You sit up, and look down toward your attacker, and it seems like you must have hit your head.

There's a man down there...you think. His lower body looks human enough, but his head...is that his head? Well, whatever it is on his neck, it looks like a giant spider. Not even just a spider head, but an entire giant spider, legs and all (well, four of them, anyway). In his right hand, he holds what looks like some kind of gun, which is pointed right at you, leading you to believe that's what he shot at you with. Judging by its appearance and how the shot went through the rock, you're guessing that's a laser gun. He's holding some other kind of weapon in his left hand, but you can't really tell what it is, much less what it does.

"I don't know who you are, kid," the spider on top of the guy says to you. "But get out of my way if you want to keep livin'."

"Fang!" you hear Killer Moth shout from behind you, the fury in his voice almost making you want to step away from him and closer to the spider.

"Hey there, old man," Fang greets, shifting his aim. "Just came to say goodbye."

>A. Focus your fear and create a barrier large enough to shield both you, and Killer Moth. Let yourself get afraid, you need all the power you can get right now.

>B. Remember something that scared you, focus hard, and try to create a shield strong enough to protect both of you

>C. Throw a Psychic Punch at that thing's face. You doubt he'll see that coming.

I prefer the idea of focusing our fear rather than option A where it sounds like we'd let it run rampant.
>>
>>2197717
Option A is focusing your fear. It's letting yourself be afraid and channeling it.

Option B is working off memory; more controlled, less power.

There are a few options open to you, but right now, you really just want that laser gun out of that crazy person's hand. You focus on it, think of an angry memory, giving yourself enough power to strike the gun with a good amount of force. Fang, with his foes at a distance and not knowing your powers, has a loose grip on his gun, meaning you easily succeed in knocking the weapon away.

"What the heck?" he asks, starting for the gun, but stopping after taking only a step.

He lifts his other gun, presumably with a tighter grip, and takes aim, not at Killer Moth, but at you. Seems he put two and two together, and decided he wants to take you out quickly. And, considering that you don't know what that gun does, you probably don't want to let him fire it.

"Where did you get that?!" Killer Moth demands, telling you that it probably isn't Fang's.

"Where do you think?" the spider man asks in return, pulling the trigger.

A stream of what looks like silk shoots from the barrel, heading right for you this time.

"Get down!" Killer Moth shouts, shoving you in the back.

Not having much choice, you fall forward, and the silky strands pass over you, nearly hitting Killer Moth, who twists his body in such a way that the string misses him by only a few inches.

"Don't let that hit you," Killer Moth says in what you consider an unnecessary warning. "It won't kill you, but you will be immobilized."

So, a stun gun of some kind. Good to know. Definitely an improvement over the laser, but still not something you want to get hit by.

"You can ask your friends about that," Fang tells you. "Well, you could if I was going to let you live that long."

>A. Get afraid; think of the danger you're in, think of your friends, think of the city. Do what you can to keep it in check, but use the power fear gives you to protect yourself and Killer Moth.

>B. Focus on creating a barrier large enough to shield you and Killer Moth

>>C. "Wait, you're going to kill me? Why?"

>>D. "Beast Boy and Cyborg are alive?"

>>E. "Mr. Moth, I'll hold him off, finish fixing the tower!"

>F. Get good and mad, don't let it run wild, but focus it and hit Fang good and hard

"Mr. Moth, I'll hold him off," you tell the bug-man that's actually on your side. "Finish fixing the tower!"

"Right, you'll hold me off," Fang says, amused. "I'd like to see you try."

Well, he asked for it.

What you're about to do is not something you take lightly. You're all-too aware of the risk you're going to take, and the consequences should you fail. You wanted to avoid this, but it looks like you don't have much of a choice. Killer Moth needs time to finish his repairs, and then make it safely home. Fang isn't planning to let that happen, so you have to take drastic measures. Per Raven's advice, when you use your powers, you mostly remember events that caused the emotions associated with whatever power you're trying to use. Once you do that, you're able to recreate the sensations of those powers with your mind. It takes concentration, and a lot of effort if you want to make it powerful. But, there is another way. You can let the emotions give you power, then pick a target and focus on it. That let you land a nice hit on Robin during training, but you lose control, and wrecked the training room in the process. This time, you know more of what to expect, of when to stop.

Or, so you hope.

Anger boils up from deep inside, and you let it give you power. It's not allowed to run wild, but you're not suppressing it either. You're letting it work through its natural course, and giving it a target.

You imagine yourself punching Fang in his smug spider face, then will for it to happen. Without having to raise a fist, you sock Fang right in the...kisser? You don't want to think about it. What's kind of odd is that you swear you can see a red fist appear in front of Fang and hit him, but you can't really be sure. Whatever happened, Fang was obviously not prepared for it, and falls onto his back, his spider legs flailing wildly before re-positioning themselves and pushing him back up to his feet.

>A. Hit him again and again! Don't let up!

>B. This isn't enough power. You need more, get angrier!

>C. Choose some different targets; a punch to the groin might have a more noticeable effect, and some gut-punches are sure to bring some pain.

>D. Don't hit Fang, push him back.

>>E. Calm yourself down, go back to the old way
>>
>>2197936
>>C. Choose some different targets; a punch to the groin might have a more noticeable effect, and some gut-punches are sure to bring some pain.
Alright, looks like we're on the right track when it comes to balancing power and control. I hope we can keep it up.

>>
>>2197936
>>C. Choose some different targets; a punch to the groin might have a more noticeable effect, and some gut-punches are sure to bring some pain.

Then finish him while imagining him being hit with a steel folding chair.
>>

Noted.
>>
>>2197968
Choking out a person is dangerous, too much pressure could crush their throat by accident.
>>
>>2197936
>>C. Choose some different targets; a punch to the groin might have a more noticeable effect, and some gut-punches are sure to bring some pain.
>>
>>2197988
Indeed, and the state of mind to do something like that is dangerous
>>
>>2197946
Okay, that clearly wasn't comfortable for him, but you aren't going to keep him down that way, not before he has a chance to fight back. Time to choose some new targets.

Your next attack hits him right in the gut, knocking the wind right out of the disgusting criminal as he nearly falls forward, only saved from face-planting by his spidery legs, which push him back up. After that, you get meaner, making your next shot hit him right between his legs. You can swear you see his buggy eyes bulge from where you're standing, but what seems to matter most is that his hands quickly move to cover his groin, and his knees buckle. You throw another Psychic Punch, hitting him in the gut again, and he rolls over onto his back, stuck for the moment in a back-and-forth roll and groaning in pain.

A sharp pain shoots through your head, and you cringe, bringing your hands up to hold it.

>A. Calm down, don't let yourself lose control

>B. One more shot, make it count! Give the strongest punch you can and knock his lights out! Then you can calm down

>C. Use the power your anger's giving you, mentally grab his throat and choke him out

>D. Let it all out in a final strike at Fang
>>
>>2198052
>A. Calm down, don't let yourself lose control
>>

Shit, I really want to do a write in here.

MoG, if you allow it: grab the restraining gun and use it on him.

>>A. Calm down, don't let yourself lose control
Brain is hurting from using mental powers, that's a clear sign.
>>
>>2198061
I'll allow you to do that, but it will be an action on its own and there may be consequences
>>
>>2198076
Understood. We got him on the ropes, this seems like the safest way to contain him, short of it blowing up in our faces. The fact that he's grabbing his balls should make the actual action easy though.

>E. Grab the silk gun, and use it to restrain Fang.
>>
>>2198090
Keep in mind his spider head also has giant spider legs, and he often uses those in place of walking on his human legs. He can easily recover if he realizes we're going for the gun.
>>
>>2198101
You're not wrong. Still, I made my vote. Even if we don't get his spider legs restrained, without his hands he can't fire guns.
>>
>>2198055
>>2198062
Don't lose control, don't lose control. Run through your breathing exercises, calm yourself, keep your anger in check. Keep your powers under control. It's your mind, it's your power, it won't run wild if you don't let it. Deep, calming breaths, that's all. In and out. In and out.

The pain in your head fades away, as does most of your anger, but a lot of power goes along with it. Not only that, but you're starting to feel a little tired. You usually don't wear yourself down this quickly, but you guess that going off emotion rather than thought took a lot out of you. Fortunately, Fang doesn't seem to be doing much better. He's back on his feet, more or less, but he's dropped his gun, and his hands are still covering his crotch.

That doesn't mean he won't try anything, though what comes next seems kind of juvenile. He spits at you, at least you think it's spit. There seems to be a lot of it. Somehow, you get the feeling that letting it hit you would be a bad idea.

>A. Focus and create a barrier to block it, then strike back with a Psychic Punch

Your head's still aching after what just happened. It seems like a good time to give the mind some rest and let the body take charge. You dive forward, letting the spit fly over you and hit the ground where you'd been standing. Picking yourself up, you begin to run down the hill toward Fang. He sends another glob of spit right at you, and you duck down, just barely avoiding being hit.

You keep running for Fang, who spits again, this time aiming in front of you. You jump, going right over the spit as it hits the ground you would have been standing on. You're about halfway down the hill now, and Fang does not seem happy. He spits at you again, this time nearly catching you in the chest. You throw your upper body back and bend your knees, letting the spit fly over you before you push yourself back up into a standing position and keep going, still not sure how you even thought to do that, and how you're able to react so quickly. You can probably chalk it up to your training paying off.

Fang, deciding that things aren't working out for him, turns his back to you and looks for his guns, finding the restraining gun quickly but choosing to ignore it. Instead, spotting the laser gun, he begins to run for it.

He wants to run for his laser gun? Fine, but you're going for his restraining gun. Without that punk spitting at you every two seconds, you're able to make it to the bottom of the hill within a few seconds. In that time, Fang has just about reached his laser gun. You move as fast as your legs will carry you, reaching the gun and picking it up, only to stand and find Fang aiming his laser gun at you.

"End of the line, kid," he tells you, finger on the trigger.

The last time we tried to block the laser we got knocked on our asses which will probably give him time to fire again
>>
>>2198354
You don't feel confident that you can fire first, and even if you could, he might still have a chance to fire at you. You can try to get out of the way, but you aren't sure you'd make it at this close of a range. You could try to hit him with a psychic attack then fire, but your head's still hurting from pulling that less than a minute ago, and you almost lost control then. You could create a barrier, but the last time you did that, you were knocked right on your butt. Oh well, barriers are easier for you to control than attacks (so long as you're making small ones, anyway), and even if you get knocked down, you can still return fire.

As Fang pulls the trigger, you bring up a barrier, which stops the laser from going through you, but still shatters with the impact, and you're thrown to the ground once again. But, in that moment, you full the trigger on your own gun, and silky strands shoot for Fang, wrapping him in what looks like a giant cocoon. You see it move as he squirms to free himself, but it doesn't look like he's going anywhere.

Exhaustion washes over you, and you lay your head back, dropping the gun and just lying there for a minute. You could honestly take a nap right here and now.

There's no time for a nap. You've got a job to do.

After making yourself sit back up, you pull out your communicator, using it to contact the five other communicators of Titans in this city. Of course, only Raven, Robin, and Starfire answer, as Beast Boy and Cyborg are still likely cocooned somewhere. You inform them of what's happened; how it looks like Fang was behind this, or at least involved, and how you captured him.

"Nice work," Robin tells you, smiling for a moment. "Has Killer Moth fixed the signal tower yet?"

"Yes," the mothman in question confirms, walking to a spot where he can be seen on your communicator. "I need to return home and send out the signal."

"Hurry," Robin tells him. "We're not having much luck holding back the moths."

"I expected as much," Killer Moth admits, and you think you detect some pride in his tone. "I'm going now."

Killer Moth takes off, leaving you on the line with the others. You can see Starfire hurling bolts at a moth to stop it from eating an ice-cream truck, Raven pushing one back with a psychic blast, keeping it from busting in to a clothing store, and Robin hurling some disks as one passes overhead.

"Alright, I want you to search the island for Beast Boy and Cyborg," Robin instructs, ducking down as a massive shadow swoops over him. "The three of us will hold the line until Killer Moth can call these things back."

"Oh, I do hope that Beast Boy and Cyborg are unharmed," Starfire comments as she seems to take to the air.

"They're alive," Raven points out, her free hand glowing with magic. "Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll have knocked some sense into Beast Boy."

"They're alive," Robin says. "But I doubt they're enjoying being cocooned. Try and find them as quickly as possible, we'll join you soon. Robin out."

Robin ends his signal, and after wishing you luck, Starfire does the same. Raven gives you a "later" before ending hers. Now alone aside from a peeved criminal stuck in a cocoon, you begin your search.

Now, where to look.

>A. Near the cage itself

>B. Look for some high places that would have given the two of them a good place to spy from

>C. Circle the perimeter of the island, see if you can find any signs.

There's a whole island to cover, but starting near the center (the cage) and spiraling out from there seems like a good enough strategy to begin your search. Even if you can't find your friends on your own, the others will be here soon enough to lend you a hand. Leaving Fang cocooned where he is, you make your way to the ruined cage. You wonder what's going to happen once Killer Moth calls the giant moths back. Maybe the signal can keep broadcasting so they don't go anywhere until he repairs the cage? You don't know. You trust that he knows what he's doing.

Circling the cage, you do find footprints, but only a single set, and they look like they were created by tiny, pointy feet. You're going to go out on a limb and say Fang left those. You don't see any signs of Cyborg or Beast Boy, so you keep moving, spreading your search.

When you approach one of the hills surrounding the cage, you can faintly hear what sounds like voices. Rushing toward the sounds, you find two figures wrapped in cocoons, squirming and shouting to get free.

Okay, you found them, now how are you going to free them?

>A. Try tugging on the cocoon from the outside

Maybe you can cut them free. You begin looking for a sharp stone, or really anything you could use to cut through that silk your friends are wrapped in. As you search, and they continue to squirm and scream, you realize it would probably be a good idea to reassure them a bit, calm them down.

"Guys, I'm here," you tell them as you continue to look around. "Fang's been caught, and everything's going to be okay. I'm going to try and cut you guys out."

You hear some muffled, confused sounds come from the cocoons for a second before they go silent, and let you search in piece. Eventually, you do find a sharp enough rock, and cut Beast Boy free from his cocoon. The green-skinned Titan does some stretches, then transforms into a Velociraptor, helping you cut Cyborg free.

"So, what was that about Fang?" Cyborg asks as he peels some stubborn strands off his armor. "Is he working with Killer Moth?"

"Just the opposite," you tell him. "He's the one that did that to you."

"But that cocoon gun's totally one of Killer Moth's weapons!" Beast Boy insists. "Why would Fang have it?!"

"My guess is he stole it," Cyborg answers, and you tell him that you're thinking the same thing.

You run them through the rest of what happened, and are just finishing up your story when you spot dozens of massive shapes approaching from over the horizon. Sure enough, as they come closer, you see that they're Killer Moth's pet moths, returning home at their "father's" call. The gigantic insects all land in various parts of the island, mostly near the signal tower. As the minutes pass, some stragglers come and join the group, and pretty soon the island is covered in giant moths.

The other Titans arrive shortly thereafter, with Starfire immediately expressing her great joy at seeing everyone unharmed. Killer Moth makes it back not long after that.

"Thank you, Titans," he says, the words sounding like they're foreign to him. "Especially you, Kid Crimson."

It actually happened partially by mistake. I misread the first thread (which I wasn't present for), and mistook the red aura to be ours, not Brother Blood's, especially in light of our barrier being colored.

I made a joke about having a red-themed hero name until we understood our powers better, and MoG fed us a red luchador mask via Beastboy.

In-game Peter has an excuse for having the name, but the Titans did give us some curious looks.
>>
>>2198827
If anything, IC we can chalk it up as some lingering mental programming/bleedthrough by Blood. We're seeing illusions of the guy, it'd make sense.

"Glad to help," you tell Killer Moth.

Truthfully, you do feel really good right now. You may be exhausted, and have a couple of scrapes, but you did something incredible. You beat the bad guy and saved the day. More than that, you proved that you can stand with the city's heroes.

"Any idea why Fang would do something like this?" you question.

"That outburst we heard from Kitten seems like it paints a clear picture; relationship trouble," Raven suggests.

"Perhaps," Killer Moth acknowledges. "Fang and I have never seen eye-to-eye, especially since I gave up villainy and started spending more time with Kitten."

"So that's it," Robin guesses. "Jealousy."

"Kind of weird having Kitten not be the one to go crazy over something small, huh?" Beast Boy asks, earning a look from Killer Moth that keeps him from saying anything else.

"Well, we caught Fang and the moths are home, but what about your cage?" Cyborg asks. "It's not exactly in great shape."

Killer Moth looks at the mess Fang made. "I can fix it."

"I'll lend a hand," Cyborg volunteers. "The two of us should be able to knock this out before too long."

"And the damage to the city?" Starfire asks.

"Jump City's seen much worse," Robin assures her.

"And besides," Beast Boy adds. "We got them back pretty quickly, right?"

"What do you mean 'we'?" Raven asks.

"Anyway, I think everyone's earned some rest," Robin announces. "What do you all say we head back to the tower?"

That sounds wonderful right about now.

"I'm gonna stick around here for now," Cyborg informs Robin. "I'll be back later."

"But do we not have Pe-Kid Crimson's initiation to attend to?" Starfire asks.

Robin smirks. "That can wait until tomorrow. Besides, I think he's going to need some rest before we put him through that."

Suddenly, you're less excited to get home.

Behind the scenes question: How much of this arc did you have planned out, and how much of it was on the fly? Which parts were which?
>>
>>2198945
The overall plot of the Moth business was planned before the quest started, the character's connection to Blood was planned but altered a bit as time progressed. A lot of the stuff in the tower was just on the fly.
>>
>>2198950
Stuff has changed already? Neat.
>>
>>2198905
Thanks for the run. And once again great session.
>>
>>2198954
Well, it's a pretty major part of the story, and only so much can be planned in advance with a quest. As things got started and I got to see some of what worked/made sense and what didn't, I adapted things accordingly. I'm sure there will be things that will continue to change.

Robin travels back home with Starfire, while Raven transports you and Beast Boy via her magic, coming to a stop just outside of the tower, and saying a quick "goodnight" before going inside, looking like she could pass out at any given second. You understand the feeling, that's for sure. You were ready to just take a nap on that moth-infested island not long ago, so going to your nice, warm bed just sounds heavenly right about now.

"Night dude," Beast Boy tells you after getting one good look at your face. "Make sure you get some rest, because tomorrow's not going to be easy."

Right, your initiation. You feel nervous about that from how the others have been talking, but you're really too exhausted to dwell on it too much. You'll just have to deal with it tomorrow. And besides, it's nothing you can't handle, right? You just beat a villain on your own and helped save the city. This initiation thing should be a piece of cake.

As soon as you reach your room, you face-plant into the bed and drift off immediately, falling into a deep sleep that is interrupted all-too soon by a knock on your door. Your eyes reluctantly open at the sound, and you turn over to look at your clock. It's only 6:30 in the morning. The knocking continues as you sit up and stretch, yawning.

"Dude," you can hear someone whisper. "Open up."

Okay, you're ninety-nine percent sure that's Beast Boy, and you're wondering what exactly he's doing at your door this early. Whatever it is, he's clearly gotten impatient for it, and opens your door on his own, slipping inside and closing it behind him.

For some reason, he's wearing a ninja costume, and looking around as if he expects enemies to strike at any moment. How bad is this initiation thing going to be.

"Alright, we've gotta make this quick," he tells you in a conspiratory whisper. "They're going to come for you at eight, you should get showered and make sure you're awake by then. Whatever you do, stay out of the main room, and don't let them see you wandering the halls."

"Are you supposed to be warning me about this?" you ask your green friend.

"No," he answers, continuing to look around for an ambush that never comes. "That's why I'm in a disguise."

You're tempted to ask him why he would bother with a disguise. Everyone in the tower appears distinctly different from each other, and aside from Robin, you can't really picture any of the others having a ninja costume. Well, whatever makes him feel safe, and gets him here to warn you, you guess you should just feel grateful. And, you guess you should probably follow his advice. After all, he had to go through initiation too, right?

"Alright, I better scram before the others find out I'm here," Beast Boy tells you. "Good luck, dude."

With that, he opens the door, shape-shifts into a fly, and buzzes off, leaving you to do what you will until the hour of reckoning comes. You decide it's probably a good idea to do as he said, and get yourself showered and awake. You hit the showers, come back and get dressed, run through your breathing exercises, and pretty much just sit around for the next hour until someone else knocks on your door.

There's no sense in delaying the inevitable. Sure, you could try to hide, but they'd find you. You could try to run, but they'd catch you. You could try to beg for mercy, but they'd deny you. All you can do now is face the music.

Opening the door, you find both Cyborg and Robin standing in the hall, each of them wearing grins that terrify you far more than that spider-headed freak that you fought yesterday. You find yourself accidentally creating a shield in your doorway, and need a minute to calm yourself before it disappears. For their part, the other two Titans lose the creepy grins, so you guess that's something. Once the shield is gone, though, they step into the room, and shut the door.

"Peter, it's time," Robin announces grimly.

"I hope you're ready," Cyborg says in a similar tone.

Okay, keep calm, Peter, you'll be okay, you'll be okay, you'll be-what on Earth is that?!

From behind his back, Robin pulls a short, pink tutu, which looks like it would be small on someone half your age. Cyborg produces a pink wig obviously meant for a girl, as well as a rubber chicken. The wig and tutu are shoved into your arms, and the chicken is placed on your dresser.

"Wait! What's the chicken for?!" you call after them as they leave.

Neither one so much as looks back at you, so you're simply left to wonder. Ten minutes is your time limit. You'd better get started.

The tutu, by some miracle, manages to fit. Well, "fit" might be a strong word, but you're able to have it cover your private areas without tearing, so you guess that's as much as you can hope for. It's still a pain in the butt to get on, and you spend nearly eight minutes getting that stupid thing on your body and adjusted so it stops giving you wedgies. Luckily, the wig is easy to put on, so you get that done quickly. You're still not sure what the chicken is for, but you decide to bring it with you, as it most likely serves a purpose. A quick glance at the mirror reveals how ridiculous you look, and you can tell this is going to be an embarrassing experience. At least, if you let it.

By the time you work up your nerve and make it to the door to the living room, your time is nearly up. Taking a deep breath, you step forward into the room, finding your "friends"all waiting for you, some with cameras.

You also notice that there's a banner hanging over the room, with the words "Welcome to the Team!" written on it. There's also a small feast spread out on the tables and counter, and it looks like the game station is fired up and ready to go. Stereos are set up, and it looks like one heck of a party's about to begin.

If you can survive your embarrassment long enough.

Well, they clearly wanted a show, so you're going to strut your stuff. You saunter right in as the guys snap pictures of you, and even stop to strike a few poses while they do. Starfire seems to find this delightful, and claps for you while giggling with happiness and excitement. The guys seem taken aback after a few moments, which seems to amuse Raven far more than your appearance. You do what you can to mess with the guys a bit, walking up to Robin and Beast Boy, throwing your arms around their shoulders, and asking how you look.

Beast Boy looks freaked out, but Robin sort of laughs it off, joking that the look suits you. Raven tells you that you look "marvelous" and seems to be in a total state of good humor. You're having a good time, too, until you find out you have to eat the chicken.

It's not a pleasant experience, and you aren't really even sure how you managed it, but once you've succeeded in eating the rubber chicken, everyone comes up, claps you on the back, and welcomes you to the team (save Raven, who just gives you a thumb's up). Then, the party begins.

Well, you did it. You're officially an initiated member of the Teen Titans. There's really only one thing to do after an accomplishment like this; play some video games. You take a seat on the couch, and are quickly joined be Beast Boy, Cyborg, and Starfire in a game of Slammin' Simian Showdown. What follows is a four-way battle between apes that fills your inner caveman with pride. Cyborg manages to get the coconut gun within the first minute, but Starfire manages to sneak attack and eliminate him while he's busy pummeling Beast Boy.

Robin yanks away Cyborg's controller, sitting down to wait for the next match. Beast Boy finds some explosives and starts spamming them, throwing them all around the map while you and Starfire look for cover. In the chaos, Starfire manages to take advantage and knock you out of the game as well. Luckily, Raven doesn't take your controller. The match goes on until Starfire's luck runs out, and she's eliminated by Beast Boy's barrage of bombs.

The next match sees Beast Boy going right for Starfire, which leaves him really open for you and Robin to take him out within the first two minutes. Then, it turns into a three-way fight in which you manage to knock out Starfire, only to be blasted off the stage by a Pineapple Bazooka.

Cyborg swipes Beast Boy's controller, and jumps back into the game.

You're hungry, so you hand your controller over to Beast Boy and go to get some food. There's no shortage of options for you to choose from; sandwiches of every variety, including those special ones made by Cyborg that you remember being delicious. There's cheese-steaks, pizzas, hot wings, chicken nuggets, for some reason several bottles of mustard, chips, pretzels, popcorn, candy, salads, and several tofu dishes. Honestly, there's so much delicious food to choose from that you grab several different kinds, deciding to pig out now and endure the stomach pains tomorrow.

You fix yourself a large plate and begin to dig in, savoring the delicious foods that you consume. Laughter and shouts result in you looking over at the others as they continue their matches. This time, Cyborg comes out on top, prompting Robin to kick his butt hard next match.

"So, was initiation as bad as you thought it'd be?" Raven asks, walking over to grab a piece of pizza and make herself a salad. "You handled it a lot better than I did, or really anyone else besides maybe Starfire."

"I was really embarrassed," you admit. "I just didn't want to show it."

"Well, you did a good job," Raven compliments, one eyebrow cocked slightly. "None of us could tell. It looks like you're getting a lot better at controlling your emotions."

She's right. What you managed yesterday against Fang? You know that you never would have been able to do that when you first started out. Your power would have run rampant, and you would have done more damage than that freak ever could. You've already come a long way in such a relatively short period of time. A lot of that is due to your own hard work, but you'd either be lying or delusional not to think that your friends played a great role in that as well, particularly Raven. You owe her, you owe all of them a lot.

Hold on, you just thought of something.

"Wait, how did your initiation go?"

Raven's cheeks redden, and she lowers her head, magically pulling her hood up to obscure her face as much as possible.

"I don't want to talk about it," she answers in a mortified tone.

That says plenty, though. You can imagine that she was quite embarrassed, especially if the others were taking pictures. Maybe that's why the others seem afraid to make Raven mad? She might have had a little outburst that day.

After a moment, she pulls her hood back down, and takes a bite of her pizza, her normal, neutral expression on her face.

Please no more thanking, I think we already told her how grateful we are like three times in two days along with the rest of the Titans.
At this point enough's enough, I don't want our thing to be being oh so thankful and having to tell everyone about it every chance we get, it's as bad as the type of character that's always apologizing.

"Listen," you tell her. "Thank you for everything. I cou-"

Raven holds up a hand. "Peter, you've thanked me for helping you enough times already. I know you're grateful, and I am glad to to have helped."

Okay, note to self, stop thanking Raven so much for that. Well, at least she knows you appreciate what she's done, and it's nice knowing that it wasn't any major burden on her. She's not upset with you for asking for her help so often, she just wants you to lay off the thanks a bit. You think you can do that for her.

"So, how come you're not playing video games?" you ask, changing the subject. "Are they just not playing one you like?"

"Video games aren't really my thing," she answers, taking another bite of her pizza. "But, to each their own; everyone else seems to enjoy them."

"Oh yeah, in your faces!" you hear Robin shout.

Looking over, you see him dancing around with the controller in his hands, while the other three glare at him. He's in for a beating next round, that's for sure.

"So, what sort of things do you like to do?" you ask, turning your attention back to Raven.

"Reading and meditation, mostly," she answers. "I play chess with Cyborg sometimes. As far as games, that's probably my favorite."

Yeah, those all fit with her.

"What about you?" she asks. "Do you do anything besides train?"

"I like competitions," you tell her, sort of as a realization as well.

You hadn't really thought about it, but you've yet to back down from a challenge since you woke that day in the hands of Brother Blood. Whether it be poorly-thought-out eating contests, video games, sparring, improving your powers, facing off against criminals, you've always faced it, pushing yourself to emerge victorious. It hasn't always gone your way, but you've never failed to make the effort, and the victories you've achieved have been sweet indeed.

"And...." you hadn't really thought about this, but you get the feeling that it's true. "I think I like music?"

"Well, those aren't bad things," Raven tells you. "Glad to see you have at least one interest other than competing with people, though."

She looks toward the couch, where Cyborg is now dancing victoriously, prompting Beast Boy to jump onto his back and try to wrestle him to the ground. Of course, this just results in Beast Boy being flung halfway across the room.

Sighing, Raven reaches out and uses her powers to catch Beast Boy and put him down (somewhat) gently.

"Thanks!" he tells her, giving a thumbs up before rushing back to the games.

"I was hungry," you answer before looking to the others. "Hey guys, the food's gonna get cold if you don't eat it soon!"

That gets the attention of Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Starfire right away. They throw their controllers down, leap over the couch, and race to the kitchen to secure some of the banquet for themselves. Starfire grabs two bottles of mustard, one of Cyborg's burgers, and a plate of Tamaranean food you didn't notice earlier. Cyborg grabs two of his special burgers, a plateful of hotwings, a stack of chicken nuggets, a hoagie, and half a pizza. Beast Boy takes a sizable helping of the Tofu products, which none of the others have really touched.

Robin comes over once the ravenous trio have cleared out, grabbing himself some pizza, a burger, and a salad.

"Congratulations again, Peter," he says after setting his plate. "And great job yesterday, we're all really glad to have you on the team."

You can't keep from smiling.

"I know I don't need to tell you to keep up on training; you've done that on your own," he continues. "Just make sure to have your communicator with you at all times. We'll work on getting you a disguise if you want, and you'll be out there with us fighting crime every time."

Part of me wants to say The Wall, but that's not really a good party movie unless it's THAT kind of party, so...
Double Indemnity. It's a god damn classic, basically INVENTED film noir, and we get a chance to make a crack about how much the lead looks like Captain Marvel.
Walter Neff, the lead, is played by Fred MacMurray, on whom Captain Marvel's appearance was and still is modeled.

It's also kind of brilliant character design.
Fred MacMurray primarily played thoughtful nice guys in light comedies, melodramas, and musicals.

"This really is an honor," you tell Robin.

"You've earned it," your leader assures you.

"Oh, I would like a disguise," you tell him, ideas already running through your head about what kind of outfit you could get. Something with a cape? A jump-suit kind of thing? Something like Batman's that's meant to be intimidating but would just look ridiculous on anybody but him? Some kind of armor? Maybe something red to go with your name?

Well, you'll worry about that later.

"Alright, we'll talk about what kind to give you later," Robin promises, finally taking a bite of his food.

Suddenly remembering a promise he made, you decide to ask Robin if he's found out anything about your past, or if he's even had the chance to look into it yet.

"Have you had a chance to look into where I came from?" you ask.

Robin swallows, his expression turning serious. "I did a bit of looking around, but so far haven't been able to find records of any Peters in Jump City that look like you. It could be that I have more to look through before I find you, or that's not your real name and I'll have to search in some different ways. I'll let you know as soon as I find anything."

"One more thing," you say to him. "Think you can spare some time later to spar with me?"

Even if you use your powers, you're pretty sure Robin could kick your butt without much trouble. Just fighting hand to hand, he'll wipe the floor with you the second he decides to put in some effort. But those defeats can really help you improve. You think that's how it works. At the very least, you'll get some endurance training that way.

Robin smiles at you again. "Definitely."

You join the others at the table as everyone enjoys their food. Cyborg goes up for seconds before long, and so does Starfire. Then they go up for thirds, fourths, fifths, then Cyborg's had enough, but Starfire goes up a total of nine times. You don't know where that girl puts it all, because she's got a great figure even with eating such an insane amount of food.

Once dinner's over, there's music, more video-games, jokes, laughter, and just an all-around good time with good people. Things continues into the afternoon, and as evening rolls around, you and the others go back for more food, then head to the couch, as Beast Boy paces back and forth with several DVDs in his hand.

"Dudes and dudettes," he begins, his tone oddly serious for movie selection. "I have assembled several of the greatest new movies to grace the homes of couch potatoes across the globe. We have to make the difficult choice of which film to watch. I submit for your vote, our choices."

>Continued
>>
>>2201490
He holds out a DVD with a picture of a massive, cloaked creature with glowing eyes and tentacles standing over terrified people.

"Wicked Scary 4," Beast Boy says before setting it down.

He shows another, this one showing an image of several aliens and humans standing on a rocky cliff all heroically. The title says "Warp Trek 8: Mysteries of Calzar 5".

Next, there is a film with a dog and a little boy out in a grassy field playing ball. You can already guess what kind of movie this one is. The title is "Dog Days."

Next, there's a film with a giant robot facing off against a giant turtle and lizard, with the turtle breathing fire and the lizard getting ready to throw a small building. The title is "Creature Clash: Rise of the Metal Guardian."

Finally, he brings out a Kung Fu movie, showing a single young, unarmed man facing off against an entire dojo of trained ninjas. The title is "Awaken, Sleeping Dragon".

"Alright," Beast Boy says, pacing back and forth in front of the group. "We now have a decision to make. There are five movies, six of us, and one way to solve this. Whichever movie gets the most votes will be the winner. Now, I'll go first. I say Warp Trek 8!"

"Nah, man, Creature Clash!" Cyborg tells him. "I want to see some giant monster butt-kicking."

"Wicked Scary 4," Raven says, barely looking up from the book in her hands.

"I wish to see the movie about the adorable dog and the young boy," Starfire declares.

"Awaken, Sleeping Dragon," Robin declares, leaning back.

"What about a marathon?" you suggest, kind of wanting to see all of them.

"Sounds good to me," Cyborg tells you, standing up. "But we're gonna need more snacks. Be right back."

"Yes! Let us enjoy all of the films!" Starfire declares excitedly.

"Alright," Robin says. "But what should we start with?"

You think it over for a minute, then decide on Wicked Scary 4. Might as well scare everybody into staying awake for the other movies. And, everyone besides Beast Boy seems happy with this. The green guy briefly looks like he's about to wet himself, but gets it under control.

Cyborg soon returns with an obscene amount of snacks (and some leftover food from today's feast). And, as everybody picks at the food, the movie begins.

Wicked Scary 4 is honestly pretty terrifying (though you hear Cyborg and Raven comment that the first one was even scarier). This movie is about a seemingly unstoppable monster, which commands all kinds of servants ranging from demonic rats to giant, horrifying birds, terrorizing and killing the inhabitants of a small town. All attempts to fight back are useless, and as the film goes on, the body count only grows. This thing seems like it can just appear anywhere at any time, but it's not overly reliant on jump-scares, which Beast Boy, Cyborg, and Raven all compliment. The atmosphere, the feeling of unease, dread, and terror are present throughout the film, and as the last survivor cowers in the basement beneath a burning house, and the creature comes through the wall, dragging him away, you get so scared that you accidentally cover the couch in a barrier.

"Well, it was definitely scary enough for Peter," Raven teases.

"That movie was most enjoyably horrifying!" Starfire declares, laughing.

"That part with the police car," Robin starts.

"And the rats," Beast Boy goes on.

"I WAS TOTALLY FREAKING OUT!" Cyborg laughs.

"Hey, Peter, do you think you can take the barrier down?" Robin asks once everybody's finished geeking about the film.

You didn't even realize that it's still up, but you bring it down when Robin asks. Beast Boy slides up next to Raven, a smug smirk on his face that earns him a stink-eye from the other Titan.

"So, Raven, were you scared?" he asks.

"It wasn't as scary as the first one," Raven answers. "But it did manage to get me just a bit."

Beast Boy seems thrilled by this, and the others seem relieved for some reason. You guess Raven's not much of a horror fan. But then again, she suggested this movie. You guess this is the exception.

Next up, Warp Trek 8. You have some difficulty following the plot, since there were seven films before this one, but you get the gist of it before too long. This group of men, women, and aliens explore the universe, visiting strange new worlds and going on adventures. The effects are pretty cheesy, and some of the aliens just look ridiculous, but the actors really give their all and make the whole thing work surprisingly well. You actually find yourself interested in what's happening, and decide that if you see one of the other films on TV, you'll probably keep it on. Beast Boy, Cyborg, and to a lesser extent, Robin seem to really enjoy it. Starfire seems to find the aliens fascinating, and compares them to some creatures she has seen in the past. Raven has her nose in a book through most of it.

After that, in keeping with the cheesy theme, you watch Creature Clash: Rise of the Metal Guardian. This one involves a government agency creating a gigantic robot to combat giant monsters that keep causing mayhem. But a malfunction causes the machine to go rogue and begin rampaging itself. This puts it in conflict with The Thing, a giant turtle monster, and Gigantis, a giant lizard that breathes radioactive power beams. It's ridiculous, and there's a lot more time spent on the humans than the monsters, but the monster fights themselves are quite entertaining.

Everyone but Raven seems to really enjoy this, and a few of them make reference to a creature they fought in Tokyo that kind of reminds them of Gigantis. Starfire just smiles when she hears the word "Tokyo", and scoots closer to Robin.

After that, it's time for "Awaken, Sleeping Dragon". It's a film about the son of a martial artist. The son doesn't want to follow in his father's footsteps, but when his father is murdered by a clan of ninjas lead by a mysterious one-eyed warrior, he sets out to avenge his father's death, growing along the way. It's kind of cliche, the fights are over the top, but entertaining, the acting is good, and the music is fantastic. All the guys seem really into it, and Starfire cheers when the hero finally claims revenge. Raven actually puts down her book for this one, and watches it with everyone.

>>2201777
Finally, it's time to wrap things up with "Dog Days". This film is pretty much what you expected, with a boy developing a strong friendship with a dog, going through cliche and heartwarming events together before the dog meets a tragic death at the end. You see it coming a mile off, but you still can't help but feel sad at the ending. Starfire is in tears, and Robin holds her, looking saddened himself. Both Beast Boy and Cyborg just look like they watched a dog die, which is appropriate, and only Raven doesn't show much of a reaction.

"Well, on that pleasant note, I'm going to bed," Raven announces, getting up and heading out.

>>A. "Goodnight."

>C. "That was fun, but I'm exhausted. Night everyone."

Starfire's crying, and nobody's judging her, so you decide to let out your grief as well, letting it wash over you. A sharp pain goes through your head, and-

Wait, where are you?

You think you're sitting on a bed. You get up and start feeling for the lights, turning them on to reveal....your room. Were you dreaming? No, that can't be it, you're still wearing that ridiculous tutu and the wig. But how did you get here? Did you pass out, and someone carried you to bed? No, the clock says that it's been less than a minute since you were in the living room. You feel exhausted, even more so than you were a minute ago. And so you stagger to your bed, falling forward onto it and beginning to drift off when a voice snaps you out of it.

"Hmm...you're unlocking your powers quickly, Peter," that voice you've grown quite tired of declares. "But, then again, you always were a fast learner."

Lifting your head, you find yourself staring at a smiling, very real-looking, Brother Blood.

>Anons actually voted to cry like a bitch over a movie.
Damn, between this and all the thanking and yes manning into crossdressing going on I gotta say, Peter's turning out some kind of nu-male. As an upstart hero, this doesn't inspire much confidence.
I thought we were supposed to be focusing on controlling our emotions? crying into unconsciousness over a sappy movie because Starfire was also crying isn't being in control of our emotions, barring the fact there's a reason why nobody judges Star for crying.
Come on guys, what the fuck?
Not saying this needs to be some alpha shit powerwank, but we ARE playing a young man here, come on, don't be the overtly emotional faggot, nobody really gets inspired by the overtly emotional faggot
>>
>>2201901
If it makes you feel any better, you wound up in your room before you made a scene
>>
>>2201901
I voted for it, and it was partly out of curiosity. Peter has displayed a decent amount of self awareness, it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to go with the emotional flow at least partially to see what might happen if he allowed himself to experience it.

The fun of Peter, to me, isn't being a badass, its unraveling a mystery and thinking about how someone without an identity might try to puzzle things out. Along the way, sometimes he discovers things about himself, like a competitive streak, an interest in music, perhaps excessively scrupulous manners, and a sense of humor that extends to turning a hazing around on the Titans.
>>
>>2201924
It's not about being a "badass" for me either but the borderline excessive kowtowing and even crying over a movie from a guy is just unsightly, you've got to admit.
>>
>>2201938
Eh. I think Raven's rebuke regarding repeated thanks will be sufficient for Peter to adapt his behavior.

>As for crying, I'm a sucker for a sad movie myself.
I'm not saying you can't get sad over a sad movie, I also get sad over them, I'm not advocating to being emotionless here, and when there's an amazing soundtrack to go with it? Forget about it.
I don't cry though.
Pretty much Robin, Beast Boy and Cyborg got the appropriate reactions here
>>
>>2201955
Nah man, I cry. Is it unsightly? Sure. But life's too short to live in fear of shame and other people's judgments. It helps to surround yourself with people who genuinely love you.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry too much about Peter. Its early yet, and on the whole, I think he's developing nicely.
>>
I will straight up admit i just wanted to vote sadness so we can have a memory conected to the emotion and so we could try out if we would get any new powers from it.

I wasn't here for the crying vote, but seriously mate, there's nothing "kowtowing" or "numale" from not acting like an insecure fag over putting women's clothes for a prank.
If anything, owning the joke is a sign of self-confidence.

Which is why here, where High Schools have this tradition where girls and boys switch clothes, the alpha fags just play along while insecure kids just put on their regular clothes and try not to stand out.

That said, the crying sounded like a metavote.

Seconding the latter part. I genuinely like how their friendship is forming and it feels perfectly believable for that to become something more.

I would be for Pete/Starfire, but Starfire and Robin being in a relationship puts it off limits for me. They'd have to break up (on their own), time would have to pass, and ultimately, Robin and Star would have to be cool with it. I'd love to become better friends with Starfire regardless.

Any of the other girls are ? because we've literally never met them. I'm open to possibilities if it turns out we have good chemistry, but I'd ask anons to not force it. I'd like this to be a good story, and if that means Raven ends up the most authentic choice, then it should be Raven.

>>
Is it teleportation guys? I can't think of another explanation for how we ended up in our room with no memory of what happened less than a minute late.
>>
>>2202802
Maybe! We can thinking about sadness and test it out after we deal with Blood.

Idle thought:
Lets emulate blood a bit more and become a kung fu mind wizard. We should absolutely keep exploring and expanding our powers, but for superheroing purposes, I think integrating our psychic punches and barriers with mundane kung fu would be a strong fighting style.

Oh, you blocked my mundane punch? You failed to block my three psychic punches. We have countless feet and hands, so come at me bro.

We should try it out with Robin in our next spar. After bringing up the fighting techniques we discovered after we did our memory dive. I'm worried that that might be a killing style.
>>
>>2202819
Some ideas:
Smaller barriers, trying to form psychic armor rather than full shields. Would require more control, but might cost less emotional exhaustion that forming larger unfocused barriers and would save energy during single combat.
Psychic boost, by shoving ourselves? Or even, boost jump barriers in case we need to access a higher location.
>>
>>2202872
These are all good. Though I think rather than running around with psychic armor, it might be even more efficient to get good at creating and dismissing small barriers on the fly, as point defense to supplement our kung fu (or as boost platforms, as you noted).

So we spend time in the training room integrating our powers into a fighting style, and our time outside it improving the breadth and depth of those powers through meditation.

And if we ever learn to fly, oh boy. I'm a /tg/ guy and I play a hero who's only power is flight. It pairs beautifully with martial arts.
>>
>>2202819
Hey MoG, what's our build like? Are we a big guy (4u) or more acrobatic?
>>
>>2202968
He mentioned before that we're average height (for a 16 year old, that'd be around 5'8) and slim.
>>
>>2202913
Psychic armor could have other uses (beside being the minimal coverage for a certain area, I think?)

That said we might need to shape into other even more useful forms, like barrier bubble. Which has utilities far beyond protection
>>
>>2202913
And if we can't fly we may be able to use a barrier for transporting. Our very own magic carpet, if you will.
>>
>>2202988
I don't disagree. What I'm driving at is creating an effective fighting style ASAP, and I think that we already have the base elements for one (punch, push, crush, barrier, good physical conditioning, and a grounding in martial arts).
Besides looking cool (come on, a martial artist who can also psychically punch and block?), this makes us useful right away, and that gives us the luxury of exploring our powers at our leisure (and then further integrating what we learn into our style).

So I recommend we split our time accordingly: Training room is for psychic kung fu, meditation time is for plumbing the terrible secret of space.

Seeing Brother Blood standing before you, you don't know how to feel. Fear would make sense, since you know he could rip you to shreds without much effort, but that smug smile on his face just makes you angry. You can't even speak at first, your energy devoted to keeping your emotions from running wild. Blood stands there, watching as you fight your inward battle, seeming to grow even more amused.

"Yes, you've unlocked a few of your powers, but you've yet to fully master them," he sums up, looking at you. "Too busy going through juvenile initiations from the looks of it."

Finally getting your head somewhat under control, you look down to see that you're still wearing that tutu from before. If Blood can see it, then he has to really be here, right? What can you do?

Raven's advice was to just ignore Blood. She told you that you wouldn't have the strength to bar him from your mind altogether, nor banish him from it upon becoming aware of his presence. She suggested that you simply ignore him when he appears, and do what you can to avoid letting him influence you. She hasn't steered you wrong so far, so you decide to follow her advice, not acknowledging the deadly villain in front of you, and rather climbing into bed, getting under the covers, and closing your eyes.

"Hello?" you hear Blood ask, sounding confused.

You ignore him.

"Peter?" his voice asks, seeming closer now, like he's hovering right over you.

You still resist giving a noticeable reaction. But, that doesn't seem to matter, as Blood apparently figures out what you're doing shortly after.

"The silent treatment, hmm?" he asks. "I'm so sad to see this behavior from you, Peter. You were always so well behaved, so obedient, so willing to show the proper respect to your superiors. Now look at you, running around like a delinquent with these brats. Do you think you're a hero, Peter? Do you think that you and the Titans are protecting this city? All you're doing is standing in the way of progress, of glory! Glory you should be sharing in, Peter..."

Just keep ignoring him, Peter. Pretend that he isn't even there.

Blood is silent for a few moments, but just as you start to think that he may have finally left, you hear his voice again.

"I have plans for you, Peter," he tells you, his voice sounding less boisterous and more dangerous. "And one way or another, you will play your part! You can either do so willingly, and share in my glory, or continue to defy me and face destruction!"

After that, silence once again. This time, you don't hear anything for several minutes, after which you finally open your eyes to check if Blood's still there. A quick look around the room tells you that he isn't, but a sudden knock on your door gives you a scare. After you drop the shield that popped up in that moment, you slowly crawl out of bed, and begin to creep toward the door, unsure of who's on the other side. Blood's last words to you were concerning, to say the least, but you didn't expect for him to make good on his threat only seconds later. Maybe he's come or sent someone to capture you, then you'll be faced with the "join or die" ultimatum.

"Yo, Peter, are you in there?!" Cyborg calls, putting your mind at ease.

Your fear gone, you open the door to find your friend looking down at you, looking both concerned, confused, and a bit annoyed. You guess you worried everyone with...whatever it was you did in the living room. Hopefully you'll be able to figure that out soon enough. Maybe Cyborg will even explain it.

"Dude, what happened?" he asks you. "You just disappeared on use without a word. It was like you vanished into thin air."

Okay, that raises a few possibilities, you guess.

"Look man, are you alright?" he asks. "What happened?"

"I'm not sure," you answer. "I felt sad because of the movie, than the next thing I knew, here I was."

Cyborg's worry and annoyance disappear, and now he just seems curious and thoughtful. "A new power, then. They come from your emotions, right? Anger lets you hit things with your mind, fear makes barriers. Sadness..takes you to your room? Maybe teleportation, or some kind of link to the place you feel safest and most comfortable?"

Could be one of those. Your bedroom does feel like an oddly specific place to teleport to, especially unintentionally. But, you're still trying to figure out things about the powers you already know, so there's no telling what this power really is, and what exactly it can do. You're honestly too tired to think very much about it, and while you're glad that Cyborg isn't upset with you, you really just feel like sleeping now, and talking later.

"Anyway man, why don't you get some sleep?" Cyborg asks, as if reading your mind. "I'll let the others know that you're fine. Oh, and you can lose the tutu. Initiation's over, you're a full-on Titan now."

"Uh, Cyborg?" you ask as he turns to leave. "There's one more thing I wanted to tell you."

Cyborg looks over his shoulder, then turns around to face you. "Yes?"

"I saw Brother Blood," you tell him.

"What?!" he asks in shock and fury. "Here?! In the tower!"

His right arm changes shape, taking the form of his sonic cannon, and his left hand clenches into a mighty metal fist that you know packs a serious punch. If Blood was right here, you're pretty sure Cyborg would be ready to destroy your room in the blink of an eye to get at him.

Was he really there, though? Or is he just messing with your head? Either way, you tell Cyborg that he's gone now, and that you aren't convinced that he was ever really here to begin with. You explain Raven's theory that Blood's using his psychic powers to appear and speak to you, and how it's happened a few times over the past few weeks.

Cyborg nods grimly. "Yeah, that sounds like something Blood would do. His powers let him pull all kinds of crazy tricks like that, and his illusions are good."

He looks down at his hand. "He almost fooled me once into thinking he could restore my body, make me all human again. Lucky my machine half saw through it, otherwise there's no telling what I would have done for that kind of reward."

He sighs. "I know Blood better than anybody else in this tower. And I know what it's like to have him take an interest in you. Peter, I'm sorry, but things are going to get difficult for you if Blood's got you as his focus right now."

"Hopefully the two of us will get to take him down together," you tell Cyborg.

He answers with a smile. "One day."

A yawn escapes you, and you look back toward your nice, comfy bed. "Thanks for checking up on me, Cyborg. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, man," he says, leaving the room and finally leaving you with the peace and quiet you need to get some sleep.

You sleep like a rock, not even waking when your alarm goes off. You just lie there, sleeping, dreaming, until someone pounds on your door, shouting loud enough to finally be heard in your unconscious state. You roll out of bed to the sound of someone striking your door with such force that you think it might actually fall into your room, or crumple under the relentless abuse it's being subjected to. Not wanting that to happen, you open the door to find Starfire standing on the other side, getting ready to strike again, and taking a deep breath to yell for you. Fortunately, she sees you in time to stop both actions.

"Oh, friend Kid Crimson," she greets with a smile. "Robin has sent me to find you. He wanted to make sure that you are the okay, and invite you to join him for sparring."

"Sure," you answer. "But I need to do my breathing exercises first. Tell him I'll be there as soon as I can."

Starfire nods, and turns to leave, then stops and gives you an amused look, pointing at your chest.

"Do you intend to wear the tutu for sparring?" she teases. "I do not believe it will be of much use in combat."

Right, you went to sleep in that thing. You tell her you'll change into your normal clothes, then let her go so she can give Robin your answer. You don't know why he didn't just try calling your communicator, but you guess you might have just slept through that, too. You were out like a light, and even now you still feel a bit drowsy. But, that's nothing your breathing exercises shouldn't be able to help with. You run through them, getting your mind into a good state, your emotions to a controlled level, and your consciousness to look alive for the day. You get cleaned, get changed, then make your way to the training room, where you see Cyborg and Starfire lifting weights, Beast Boy running on a treadmill as a mountain goat, and Robin doing sit-ups.

"Morning," he greets mid sit-up as he sees you walk in. "Was starting to think you were going to sleep the whole day away."

He hops up, and tells you to run some laps before the two of you spar, and that helps you shake away your remaining drowsiness and get your blood pumping. The two of you head to an open area of the room, and Robin takes his stance. From what you can tell, it's meant to allow him to go on either offense or defense at a moment's notice, as the situation demands. That tells you that you can either make the first move, or he'll come to you.

"Show me what you've got," he invites with a smirk.

You do just as he asks, getting right in there and showing him what you've got. You know that you're not Robin's equal in hand to hand by any stretch of the imagination, but you're determined to give it your all until he beats you down.

Your first punch is easily parried, and Robin responds with an uppercut that you jump back just in time to dodge. Not trusting your luck to last long with Robin's attacks, you rush in again and chop at a point in the lower neck that should do some serious-wait, why are you doing that?

Robin ducks beneath the chop, then springs back up and kicks you in the jaw. You stagger with the blow, your eyes watering as your face flares with pain. Somehow, you manage to keep yourself steady, and fight through the pain enough to go in and attack again, this time kicking at a spot in the inner thigh that should make his leg-wait, what?

Robin defends his thigh with his opposite knee, pushing against your foot and consequently pushing you back, almost causing you to fall over. You just barely manage to stop that from happening, but Robin's on you a second later, coming in fast with a jump kick. Your arm comes up almost on its own to block, though it's barely in time to stop the kick. Robin kicks you in the chest with his other foot, and pushes off of you, rolling into a crouch as you're knocked onto your back. Once again, you get back up and attack.

This time, Robin doesn't strike back, he just fends off each attack you make, a thoughtful look on his face, as if he's studying something interesting. You aren't sure why you're attacking the way you are; going for strikes at vulnerable places or spots that can throw off a foe completely and leave them defenseless, but it doesn't seem to matter, as Robin is able to counter each one with astounding skill. Though your aim seems to get better with each strike you make, not one of your hits connects, and finally, Robin drops, spins, and takes your legs right out from under you.

You're not giving up that easily. Robin might outclass you in every way in terms of hand-to-hand combat skill, but you've got a couple of advantages that he sorely lacks, and maybe those will give you an edge. You've never tried hand-to-hand fighting while also using your powers, but you suspect that doing so would make you far more formidable than you would be under normal circumstances. What better time to give it a try than when sparring with someone that's several leagues above you?

You get back to your feet, deciding to give Robin what he asked for. You're going to show him what you've got. You move in to attack again, but before you're in range to strike, you bring up an angry memory, and picture yourself striking Robin in the face. His head jerks back from the Psychic Punch, and you finish your charge, throwing a strong kick at his chest that sends him sliding back.

Robin, as you might expect, recovers quickly. He doesn't waste any time in coming at you, moving much faster than you and throwing a punch right at your face. You think of something that made you fearful, and a barrier comes up to block the punch, stopping Robin's attack. But, it doesn't stop Robin's second punch, which hits you right in the gut. Your focus on the barrier breaks as you clutch your stomach in pain. Robin throws another punch, but this time you manage to produce a larger barrier, stopping the hit and giving you time to move back and recover. Robin comes running, jumping into the air. You bring up another barrier, but his kick shatters it, catching you in the face and throwing you to the floor.

He stands back, waiting.

You get back up again, not going down that easily. Robin may still be kicking our butt, but your new strategy does seem to have some merit. It might not be enough to stop someone like him, but it can surely come in handy in other battles. And you want to see just what you can do. Robin, seeing that you're not giving up, gets back into his fighting posture, waiting to see if you do anything.

You start with a Psychic Punch to the face, and this time, Robin back-flips, rolling his whole body with the punch and landing further away from you. Well, almost landing, you manage to sabotage his landing by using a Psychic Push on his feet as they come to the ground.

Robin falls forward, but recovers enough to turn what should be a face-plant into a somersault. You hit him with another Psychic Punch, and Robin's head jerks with the blow. Even still, he gets back up, and begins to walk toward you. You try to push him off his feet again, but he catches himself this time, and while he stumbles a bit, he still keeps coming.

At this point, the rest of the training room is quiet, though you can't tell if that means the others have left, or if they're watching what must be an entertaining show.

Robin gets closer, even as you throw another Psychic Punch, this one getting him in the stomach. Still, he does not stop, though he does appear to slow a bit. But, then he breaks into a run, and this time, when you psychically shove his legs, they do fall out from under him, and he falls forward, only to throw his lower body toward you and handspring, throwing himself into the air and launching himself right at you. You instinctively put up a barrier, but it's not enough, and once again shatters under Robin's attack.

Again, you find yourself on the ground, but this time, your head's starting to ache, and you feel exhausted again.

"Alright," you groan. "I give up."

Robin offers you a hand, which you take gratefully, letting him pull you to your feet. You aren't feeling so hot, but at the same time, you do feel kind of proud of your progress. A quick look around shows that the other Titans did stay to watch (except Raven, who wasn't there to begin with). Starfire looks slightly concerned, while Beast Boy looks ready to start geeking out, and Cyborg just kind of seems surprised. You guess you did better than they expected.

"So, have any pointers for me?" you ask Robin, wanting to know how you can improve over your current ability.

"You've definitely come a long way," Robin commends you. "But, you're still making some rookie mistakes. First off, when you go to attack, you keep leaving yourself completely open. If your opponent dodges, parries, or blocks one of your hits, they've got a chance to hit you wherever they want. Your defense has gotten better, but only when you're actively focusing on it. Using your barriers to help you defend yourself was a good idea, but you need to work on making those barriers stronger if you want them to be effective enough to get the job done. And that's another thing. You used your powers too often in this fight and wore yourself down. It might have been harder for me to get at you, and almost impossible to avoid getting hit, but all I have to do is outlast you, and you lose for sure."

"It was pretty cool seeing you use your powers to trip up Robin," Beast Boy comments.

Robin nods, offering a smile. "You adapted well, and gave me more of a challenge than I was expecting. Keep up your training, and I'm sure you'll become one tough opponent."

His smile vanishes for a second. "That reminds me. In the beginning of the fight, it seemed like you were aiming for different points on my body. You were aiming for pressure points and other places that could disable me. Who taught you to do that?"

>A. "I don't really know, it just kind of seemed like muscle memory, I was doing it without really knowing why."

"When I was meditating with Raven and Starfire, I dug up a memory were I think I was working for Brother Blood," you tell him. "Maybe he taught me."

Cyborg and Beast Boy both look shocked by this, but Robin keeps his composure pretty well, though he's lost in thought for a little while.

"That could explain it," he tells you. "If you were part of the HIVE, you would have received combat training. And if you didn't have any powers, you'd be taught how to take down enemies without them."

Like he says, that makes sense, but you really don't like it.

Just for fun, I updated the Mutants and Masterminds character sheet I made for Peter in the last thread. Don't take it overly seriously, as its purely speculative, and MoG is most definitely not going to feel beholden to M&M's mechanics for adjudicating what happens in his quest.

Is M&M an actually good system or is it popular just because it's in a depopulated niche?
>>
>>2205722
M&M system for powers is pretty good and gives a huge amount of powers variety.
>>
>>2205722

As >>2205924 Anon says, its strongest feature is its power system. You can model pretty much any power you can imagine which is pretty dang impressive.

It does have a few weaknesses, however. The first is that its use of PL Caps can sometimes make some aspects of characters feel same-y. There is very little incentive not to hit your caps.

The second is that combat can be very swing-y. A fight between two characters of similar PLs can end in one hit or can drag on for many rounds.

The last one is that some powers can be broken. Its admirably balanced for a system that's so versatile, but a few things stand out, particularly summon, which lets you snap the action economy in half. Your GM has to be willing to say 'no'.

In spite of those flaws though, its a pretty good system. I've played in several games of it, and will play in more in the future.

Over the next few days, you do your best not to dwell on the possibility that you were once a servant of Brother Blood, what he might have taught you, and what you might have done in his name. Those thoughts still come to you, unbidden, more than once, but you find ways to distract yourself, whether it's playing video-games with the guys, listening to music, going through breathing exercises, or throwing yourself into training.

When training becomes your escape from the worries in your mind, you try to follow Robin's advice, working on your barriers to make them stronger. You think it's working, but so far you haven't asked Robin to help you stress-test it. You've also worked on using your powers more so that they don't drain you so fast, and you think you've made some progress. You've gone back to hitting targets physically, as well, doing your best to learn to fight without leaving yourself open. You wonder if it's worked.

Today, you're sitting in the living room with Robin and Cyborg, the latter of whom just prepared his famous Cyburgers for the three of you. Beast Boy has gone to the arcade, and Starfire has managed to drag Raven to "the mall of shopping". So, it's just you three guys, sitting around a table and enjoying lunch.

Oh, and Robin brought a sketchbook.

"So," he begins while chewing on his burger. "You said you want a costume. It hasn't really come up before, but we have a budget for stuff like this, so all we have to do is figure out what you want, and Cyborg and I can make it for you."

"So, lay it on us," Cyborg invites.

>Open ended

You guys will have the next 20-30 minutes to decide on a costume design among yourselves. If there seems to be a strong consensus, I will go with that. If not, I'll put the most popular options to a vote.

Have fun, get creative, and show me what you got.

More ideas: I like the cut of this Captain Marvel costume. If we're going to be doing some kung fu, a sash more like Iron Fist's or Shazam's would look cool.

>>2206735
I think it looks cool. The one I linked is a bit bigger than Robin's. Everyone else on the team has their face exposed, I think we can allow ourselves a little bit of fantasy buy in here.

It takes some time to come up with a satisfying design. You, Robin, and Cyborg spitball ideas for a while, look at different costume styles and narrow it down to what you like. You consider masks, accessories, colors, and everything else in painstaking detail. Soon enough, you settle on the main part of your costume just being a red bodysuit with black as a secondary color. There's a brief debate about whether or not to put a 'C' on your chest to go with your alter ego, but you ultimately decide against it. You also consider adding a golden sash, but decide that it doesn't work with the rest of the outfit, and scrap it. Then it comes down to masks, and you take a while to decide on what you want. Finally, you settle on a metallic mask that covers everything other than your nose and mouth (not mentioning eye-holes, of course).

Robin sketches down the basic design of the costume, and you tell him that you like the look of it.

"Alright, Cy and I will get to work on it when we're done eating," Robin tells you, looking to Cyborg, who's on his fifth Cyburger. "I mean, when Cyborg's done eating."

"Alright, alright, don't lose your head," Cyborg tells Robin, gulping down the rest of his food and standing up. "We can go get this done now."

"We'll probably be finished in a couple of hours," Robin informs you as he and Cyborg go to leave. "We'll let you know when it's ready."

With that, the door closes, and they're gone.

What happened during movie night? Did you teleport, like Cyborg suggested? Or form some kind of link to your room? Is there a way to better control it? You have free time, and everybody's busy, so this seems like a good occasion to figure it out. It makes sense for you to try and recreate the experience in the same place it happened before, so you take a seat on the couch, then remember the movie that made you feel sad.

You try to go with the memory of the sadness rather than actually let yourself become sad. You think of your room, and then you're there, considerably more tired. You think of the living room and try again, then end up there, feeling even more tired. You look at the kitchen counter, thing of that, then end up next to it, which takes less out of you than the other two trips did. That said, you're feeling exhausted, now, and want nothing more than to take a nap.

>You have learned to teleport. Teleportation can take you anywhere from a few feet to...well, you'll have to find out. But, the further you go, the harder it becomes.

Honestly, our apparently dark past is gonna make it interesting if we wind up waifuing Cassandra Cain. THAT girl has some serious darkness in her past.
>>
>>2207371
Last time we meditated, we only chose one of three meditation styles, and within the style we chose, we only picked one of many options, including just thinking about our powers or thinking about our friends and becoming more peaceful.

>>2207288
>>2207307
Some meditation might do you good. Maybe you can learn something about your past, or just allow your mind to get some much-deserved rest. Maybe you can reflect on your actions, your successes, your failures, your friendships. The possibilities are endless. Your memories of the last time you meditated aren't exactly positive, but you did learn some useful information.

Leaving the living room behind, you make your way to your bedroom, which is currently Silkie-free from the looks of it. You walk over to your bed, assume the lotus position, and decide what to try.

Raven and Starfire told you that there are three kinds of meditation. The first is to empty your mind and just allow it to relax. Starfire had said this is difficult, but you imagine that it can be quite therapeutic. The second was to focus on one subject, and drive everything else away from your conscious mind. The focus brought by this meditation can allow you to reflect, or to solve difficult problems. The third, which you tried last time, is to allow your thoughts to flow freely through your mind, like leaves in a stream. Then, when you see one you like, you can reach out, grab it, and focus on it. You were able to dig into some repressed memories this way, but the results weren't completely positive.

Simple, therapeutic relaxation sounds good right about now. You aren't sure if you're ready to confront your past again, anyway. You close your eyes, and repeat the mantra that both Raven and Starfire used when you attempted to meditate with them.

"Azarath...Metrion...Zinthos..." you quietly repeat to yourself, letting all conscious thought slip away, even relegating the mantra to your unconscious mind for you to keep repeating, and letting your mind enter a peaceful state of relaxation.

Just as Starfire had warned you, it's difficult to maintain this state of absentmindedness. Thoughts begin clawing at your mind, trying to get your attention, and it takes effort to drive them away and return to the peaceful, restful state you desire. Despite this, when you finally call it quits, you find that you are much more relaxed. Still, you're quite tired, and with both body and mind in this state, it's hard to stay awake.

Why fight it? Your body's tired, your mind's tired. Why not give them the rest they crave. You get out of your lotus pose, lie down, and close your eyes, quickly falling into a peaceful sleep.

Thankfully, there's no nightmares, not even any dreams as far as you can remember when you wake up, feeling nice and refreshed. Meditation feels pretty good when you don't drive yourself nuts, it seems. A quick look at the clock tells you that you slept for a good four hours. Hopping out of bed, you head to the living room to see who's around. Beast Boy and Cyborg are playing a racing game, seeming pretty much neck and neck. Robin and Starfire are sitting at one of the tables, just talking. And, Raven is nowhere to be seen, you can assume she's in her room.

"There you are," Robin says once he sees you. "Cyborg and I finished your suit."

"It is most wonderful," Starfire declares, flying over and handing you both a body suit, and a red mask. "Oh, may I ask you to try it on? I wish to see the final result!"

It would be fun to teleport to our room, change, and then teleport back, but showing off isn't worth getting exhausted again.
>>
>>2207797
Or is it?
>>
>>2207831
Hey, maybe if we keep doing it, it won't tire us out as much? It's not showing off, it's practice!

"Alright," you tell her, grinning as an idea pops into your head.

You bring up a sad memory, think of your room, and poof. That's where you are. Once there, you take off your clothes and get changed into your suit, finding it to be a perfect fit for you, and looking exactly as you'd hoped it would. Now, you have a costume to go with your alter ego, and your identity can be kept a secret.

You're happy with the results, now it's time to see what the others think.

Thinking this time of the living room, you teleport back to that location, once again feeling quite drowsy, but also quite amused by the reactions of your friends as you vanish into thin air, then reappear just as quickly.

"So, what do you guys think?" you ask with a smirk.

>To be continued

That's where I'm going to call it for tonight. Sorry tonight's session was short, but getting the costume done was important, so glad to have that out of the way.

You guys know all that stuff about feedback, so I'm not gonna repeat it a fourth time in this thread.

Thank you all for playing.

Also, shamelessly campaigning for my boy, Sinestro. Think about how good Peter's barrier will get with his help!
>>
>>2208339
Hmm. If Sinestro understands the emotional light spectrum, and he offers us context for our powers, that'd be interesting.
>>
>>2208225
for "other" I want Cassandra Cain but oracle would come with her most likely
>>
>>2208392
>>2208339
Why would helping Peter be in his interests? He'll probably gather that Peter isn't the type to rule by fear

>>2208399
Cassandra Cain won the last poll I did, so I didn't consider it necessary to put her in this one.

She'll make an appearance, just working on when/what capacity that will be
>>
>>2208405
well then if I could I'd change my vote to oracle
>>
I'm not actually in a rush to see heroes or villains from outside of the Teen Titans cartoon just yet. Its still the very early game and I want to enjoy the status quo before it gets shaken up.

>>2208405
Depending on where we are in the continuity, Sinestro was briefly a White Lantern. If our power actually is based in the emotional light spectrum and he recognizes it, then we're an asset to cultivate and perhaps a ticket back to that power. Fear's cool and all, but Fear +6 other powers is even better.
>>
>>2208405
I was just being flippant. I picked Sinestro because he's the villain I like, not because I was expecting to get something out of it. Besides, the chance to psychically punch a smug, space asshole is its own reward.

Personal in game goal: once we get a stipend go visit a music store and a record store. Find out what instruments, if any, we can play, and get some albums. The more I think about it the better the music angle fits for us. Music is a great way to evoke emotions.

>>2209331
Changes name to Blue Bard and learns to boost his own powers by playing music, as well as hype/buff his allies.

>>2209402
I could see him replacing memories of emotions with song cues that act as shorthand. He thinks of the riff from Kashmir and achieves ultimate power, etc.

>>
>>2211436
I am clever, but not that clever. Instead you have played yourself, MoG.

In the off chance that the topic actually interests you, I would actually be interested in Peter exploring altered states of consciousness beyond meditation. Not just for the prog rock joke, but because there is so much potential for a person who's powers are based on emotions and his state of mind. For that matter, whether or not Raven is a waifu or a friend, it'd be cool to have her along for the same reason.
>>
>>2211423
>Snurf
>Snork
>>
>>2211440
I've just been googling the most insane DC characters there is for fun.

How about Ragdoll?
>>
>>2211441
By altered states of consciousness, do you just mean Peter ingesting drugs constantly?
>>
>>2211443
We'll see. I'm going to use these kinds of characters sparingly
>>
>>2211443
Not sure which comic that's from, but Ragdoll was in Secret Six, and I really enjoyed dad-Bane.

>>2211444
Sure. But G-rated and legal, because the Teen Titans are good guys and wouldn't do bad things like do drugs.

But more generally really I like journeys into the mind. I enjoyed the episode Nevermore when I first saw it as a kid, but what resonated with me was the idea that Raven uses a mirror to enter her own thoughts and sort out her shit.

The pursuit of self-knowledge through (by various means) stepping outside of ourselves, fascinates me. And then I grew up and found out its a whole thing (psychonautics).

Just a pet interest of mine. I get if its not really your (or anyone else) cup of tea. I bring it up because it could fit within the larger web of ideas that's forming Peter.
>>
>>2211458
I hadn't much thought about it, but that's something I will look into.
>>
>>2211459
Daw. You're making me blush with your open-mindedness.
