We play as Percy a Pokémaniac with a knack for communicating with Pokémon.
He's on his way to become a professional trainer and find his calling in life.

Your team so far consists of:
Houndour
Mimikyu
Whismur
Vulpix (Alolan)
Elekid’s Egg (It appears to move occasionally.)

Traveling partners:
Abra

After defeating the Steel Gym leader and earning his first badge, Percy ventures forward to the closest Pokémon Gym. The Ground Gym located in Ibarra Village, an archeological site surrounded by a desert.

The journey on the bus is a peaceful one. Eli felt asleep after scolding Tremor the Sandile and Jaws the Totodile for fighting inside the bus. She put them on their Pokéballs to avoid them causing more trouble. Avenger the Trubbish gets to stay out since he’s a good boy.

The bus is filled with other rookie trainers as yourself.

You took the opportunity to do a little something. After all the battles and training you got a good idea of what are the current capabilities of your team. (and Abra). So you write down how their STATS compare to the ones of a standard member of their species.
You consider making one of yourself, cause you are autistic like that. You don’t write it down, but you do think about it.

STATS:
https://pastebin.com/CYUmtpgU

Eli: Watchu writing down nerd?

Seems like someone woke up.

Percy: I’m just making some observation on my team battling prowess by comparing their different statistic with the ones of a normal member of their species on their wild state. It’s just an estimate really. I’m just going by personal experiences and

Eli: So, more nerd stuff?

Percy: I thought you would be more interested, considering you are really into training and all.

Eli: I don’t need to complicate myself. Check it.
(Points to jaws) Speedy and with a mean bite
(Points to Tremor) Fucking strong and sneaky
(Points to Avenger) We getting there.

Eli:Well, I’m a snooze for a little bit (Yawn) wake me up when we get there.

You ask the ghost-type to tell you where your stalker is sitting. Are you being followed? He points to a pair of seats located at the front part of the bus. A girl is glancing frequently at you, her face is one you can’t quite recognize, she looks pretty pissed.
Your eyes met, she realized you are looking back. You acknowledge her with a wave, she turns her head back quickly and nervously. There’s a hint of fear on her actions.
You consider calling her out, but the bus has finally arrived at the entrance to “The Whistling Desert”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abxQ74ExCmw

The great mounds of white sand extend further than your eyes can see. The bus stops at a rest stop, seems like they got a dinner inside and rooms for rent. The establishment looks pretty old and beat up.
As soon as the bus stops the girl takes her traveling partner and drags him hurriedly to the inside of the rest stop. There’s a Pidgey resting on her shoulder.

Besides the rest stop there seems to be a “Buggy” rental service. A man is renting the vehicles, so trainers can quickly travel trough the desert. Cost seems a bit high. $2000 Per buggy, and it seems like they can’t stray from the road too much. There’s only one left.

Eli is still asleep, you should wake her up.

>Wake her up normally, just call her out.
>Take her hand and drag her out.

You call out Eli, the girl still soundly asleep. You tell avenger to wake her up and tell her to meet you outside the rest stop. You go and try to catch the girl. You are worried she might be another revolution weirdo or if she’s been following. You’ve met your fair share of shady individuals.

Percy: Hey wait up!

The girl hurries but you easily catch her, she shields herself before a sporty looking girl who wears a serious expression.

[Pidgey Girl]: What do you want “Arsonist”? You aren’t satisfied with roasting my Pidgey? Have you come to do the same to my other Pokémon? Or… are you targeting me?

The high-pitched voice of the girl seems to have attracted the attention of other. Particularly two familiar faces who get between you and the pair of friends. A sweaty overweight teen in a trenchcoat and a tall muscular guy wearing a tank top.

[Alabaster Damocles]: Oh, if it isn’t my fated rival. Harassing defenseless girls I see? As a gentleman and a feminist-ally I can’t let this pass! I need to ask you to back up a bit.

[Charles Donner]: Yeh bro, step back from the chicks. If you don’t things may get rough.

You consider reaching for Houndour’s Pokéball and letting him put so you can both apologize for this misunderstanding. But the moment you reach for your Pocket you can see the pair of trainers brace themselves and do the same.
So you decide to calm the situation by talking with the seemly most level-headed and calm of the bunch.

Pidgey.

You start chirping to catch her attention. She doesn’t seem to recognize you at first until you mention the battle you had. She starts chirping nerviously and startles her trainer but you manage to tell her it was an accident in time. With some explanation you make her understand it was an accident and offer and apology.
The little bird doesn’t seem completely aware of what Pokémon battles are. She’s just following the girl cause she keeps him fed and safe inside the ball. You tell her you also want to make paces with her trainer and ask for her help in the matter.

After chirping for like 30 seconds the trainers start to grow a little exasperated. But their attention quickly changes to the Pidgey flying from the girl’s shoulder to your arm. You offer her a piece of snacks.

[Pidgey Girl:] Hey, hey, what are you doing?

You let out Houndour and tell her to apologize to the Pidgey, he begrudgingly does it. Pidgey seems content with it. She pecks him lightly to be “even”. Houndour scoffs.
Percy: We are very sorry.

You try and explain how it was an accident on your and Houndour’s part. You didn’t meant to calcinate the mons!
The crowd leaves, they seem kinda disappointed
“Nah, that wasn’t the Arsonist just a lookalike” “Yeah, that Houndour looks way to calm, the other one had those crazy murder eyes like his trainer!” “What a waste of time”
>>
>>2927553

After a lengthy explanation, and some coercing from Pidgey part. you manage to get your message through.

[Sporty-girl]: I knew you were blowing this thing out of proportion.

[Pidgey Girl]: I wasn’t! Okay it may be an accident, but you should really train your Pokémon better! What kind of trainer can’t even command their Pokémon?

[Charles Donner]: Thought you were a crazy psycho asshole, glad to see you are just a strange chirping bro. I’m glad this got resolved! Hey bruh, you got our ride?

[Alabaster Damocles]: That’s correct Mr. Donner. Musashi went and realized the transaction it for us. Heh, just as expected of my rival, behind the façade of the soulless monster lies the gentle being of a fellow appreciator of the mighty winged beings that rule the sky.

[Pidgey Girl]: You got the last buggy? Can we tag along?

[Charles Donner]: Sorry babe, this party is full. Let’s go bruh.

[Alabaster Damocles]: Onward!

[Sporty-girl]: You got two extra seats.

The sporty girl was ignored by the pair of young men.

Eli: Yo! Who’s messing with the weirdo? Only I can mess with him!
Eli: Wait, from the bus it seemed like you were ready to throw down. Damn, got all fired up for nothing.

Seems like this got resolved.
>Reputation as a trainer improved Slightly!
Well, it seems like that’s resolved, and is still pretty early.
The only way to get into the desert is by foot.

>Let’s not waste time. Get ready to travel by foot (You’ll arrive at Ibarra village tomorrow)
>Rent a room/ camp here. Wait for the buggy tomorrows.

If you choose to go out now.
>Follow the path. Is more lengthy but you won’t encounter as much wild (Aggressive) Pokémon.

Percy: We are going to travel the desert by foot. It should be faster than waiting for the buggies to come tomorrow. Wanna come with?

Pidgey girl takes a good look at you. Sizing you up. Then she takes a step back.

[Pidgey Girl:] Yeah… No. We’ll wait for tomorrow. Here. The two of us.

Seems like she’s still a little fearful of you, and seems like her dislike of your person hasn’t changed. You can’t tell why.

Welp, whatever. It’s just you, your mons and Eli!

After walking for a good 20 minutes you encounter yourself with the first deviation the road takes. There’s various signs that read “Danger! Stay on road!” and “Aggressive Pokémon ahead!” Those warnings are for chumps! And you aren’t one! You are a trainer with a gym-badge!

Eli: Screw you signs, you don’t tell me what to do.

[Jaws]: YEAH! FUCK THE AUTHORITHES, WE LIVE ON THE EDGE
[Tremor]: Shut up Jaws, you don’t even know what those says.
[Jaws]: READING IS FOR FAGS
[Tremor]: Hey! Avenger knows how to read! I doubt you could do it, even if you tried, brainless gator.
[Jaws]: YOU WANNA THROW DOWN DIRT-CROC?

While you and Eli walk through the desert, the wind produces a faint sound that almost resembles whistling. You guess this is how the place got its name. The sound starts becoming louder and louder, as the sand starts to rise.
Suddenly a ferocious sandstorm breaks in, making navigating through the desert harder.
The sand stings your eyes, Tremors serves as a guide since he is the one most acclimated to these conditions. You keep the rest of your Pokémon inside their Pokéballs to avoid being buffeted by the sand. It hurts your uncovered arms and face. At least Eli got some protection thanks to her bandana.

You find a little cave nearby. The sandstorm is still raging furiously. It doesn’t seem to be going to die down soon. At first glance the cave seems a bit shallow, but after telling Houndour to illuminate it a bit with his fire you can see a passage that leads deeper in the cave.

Wait, is someone else taking refuge in the cave? Oh god is a corpse! No wait, he still has a pulse. There's a dehydrated young man passed out. He's laying on the ground.

You decide to explore and delve deeper in the cave! You just may found something interesting.

Eli: I mean, there's probably no booby-trapped temple with a golden idol down there, but maybe there's something useful down there, or at least something to fight with

You try to wake up the guy to no avail. He just keeps mumbling something about Cacturnes. Finally Jaws splashes him with a water gun and he becomes way more responsive. You share with him some water from your canteen. The guy seems older than you, college-age. He tells you he was wandering around the desert looking around for a battle. But after night fell he started to feel he was being followed by something.

[College-guy]: Yeah, I sat for a moment just to catch my breathe. I just got a sleeping bag with me so I wanted to get back on the main road to try and hitch a ride.

[College-guy]: And then, they appeared. I could barely see them from the corner of my eye, thought my mind was playing tricks and then! Swish! Those needles and spikes started flying toward me! Barely got out of there, wasted most of my antidotes. And I couldn’t even train Bug-man!

[College-guy]: Journeying sucks, I just wanna go home.

[College-guy]: But, changing the subject to more pleasant things, it looks like there’s a silver lining to everything. (He seems to divert his attention to the other person occupying the cave)

Percy: Thanks for the compliment.

You are not used to compliment and coming from a guy you’ve just met it’s pretty weird. But you’ll take it anyways.
Ok, you knew what he was going for and you wanted to fuck with him a bit.

Eli bursts out laughing, it’s the first time you notice but she has this little coarse and loud laugh, It’s not particularly feminine, but you find it endearing.

Eli: Hahaha, oh weirdo, breaking hearths already heh?

Eli:Sorry dude, we are both fifteen, hahaha, you got no chance with weirdo over here.

She seems a little relieved.

[College-guy]: Wait, Fifteen? Oh shit, please don’t tell anyone. Fuck, I swear that…! I mean, just look at your…! Wait no, don’t say anything else Gareth.

[Gareth]: Hahah, I mean yes, fifteen, that’s the age of most trainers on their journey! Obviously! I was just joking! Just a prank! Haha!

Well, at least you know he won’t be trying anything else. And it’s time to do some spelunking!

Gareth wants to tag along to “take care of the young’uns” since he’s the oldest one here (22).

Tie your escape rope to a stone near the entrance?

The cave seems to divide in three parts, you can faintly hear something on the left path, like a slow and deep breathing. The middle one is completely silent, at least that’s how it sounds.

You tie your escape rope to a rock near the entrance, that's basic stuff! Survival 101!

You decide to go towards the left path, there must be some Pokémon living there, maybe they would like to spar a little or could help you out discover something useful! You also use this time to talk to Gareth for a bit.

Percy: Hey Gareth, I wanted to ask. Aren’t you a little too old for being in a Journey? Most people do it at fifteen, is this like, your second time?

[Gareth]: I’m just a late bloomer. I was always too busy to just drop all my responsibilities and go into a self-discovery journey around the nation.

Percy: Busy with what?

(What could be more important than going on a Pokémon Journey after all?)

[Gareth]: Eh… School? Yeah school! And work! I think I used to work at that age, yeah, definitely worked at that fast-food joint. But yeah, responsibilities and mature stuff. Got no time for journeys, no sir.

Percy:And why are you going now?

[Gareth]:I may or may not have flunked out, it just wasn’t my calling.

Percy: Okay, and what about your team?

Percy:Hehehe, you are a sneaky one Percival, let me just say. Quality over quantity. It just Bug-man and me, but we have trained our asses off!

As you get deeper into the cave you can hear the breathing more and more loudly. It sounds like a big and heavy mon. Eli notices something looking a t your group as you get deeper. Is an Hippopotas! Various of them! It’s a pack! Their derpy faces are somewhat endearing. “How are you doing little guys?”

[Hippopotas1]: Food!
[Hippopotas2]: Meat! Meat! Meat!
[Hippopotas3]: Food for mother!
[Hippopotas4]: Wake Mother and let her feast!
[Hippopotas5]: Fooooooooooood! Meaaaaaat!
[Hippopotas6]: Soft human meaaaat!

And more of them are coming closer.

>What do?
>Try to beat them all fast before they make to much ruckus and wake their bigger, badder mother!
>Let’s take them all on! We are three trainers after all! Keep going deeper to face the mother!

These mons are not only wild but very hungry. Don't think our usual diplomatic approach will work this time. Also, I've been wondering, can we do something like Ice Beam the floor to make it difficult terrain for mons to pass through?

Don’t risk it! Let’s do this as fast as possible!
You let out all your team! Inlcuding Abra, Eli does the same. And with Gareth Mon you have a total of: 9 Mon’s on your side! Against 12 Hippopotas, this is doable!
[Gareth]: Go Bug-Man!
From his Pokéball Gareth releases a Wimpod!

The Hipo-collective start kicking up sand because of their ability “Sand-stream” creating an in-cave sandstorm!

The bug type goes straight back to his ball once he notices the horde of Ground type

[Gareth]:C’mon Bug-man! You are way stronger than you think! Power of friendship and bonds and all that stuff! Go fight!

Ok, 8 mons against 12. Still doable.

Jaws takes advantage of his speed and typing and starts shooting as many “Water Guns” as he cans! Tremor lowers their defenses with “Leer” and Trubbish is concentrating to do… you aren’t sure what is he trying to do but you can see his effort! Strange greenish energy surrounds him.

Eli’s taking care of 5 Hippopotas on her own, leaving you to deal with seven.

You can command three of your Pokémon right now! The other will act according to their battle experience. Vulpix is still wearing the Macho Brace so evading will be way harder for her.

The ground types are closing in....

>What do? Select an approach and a command for two mons! Those selected will be your fighters! The others will fight on their own acting accordingly to their personalities and battle experience.

Most of the Hippopotas rush towards Vulpix, they are running with their mouths wide open.

Both Pokémon go full offensive!

The 7 Hippopotas come down on your team.
Houndour makes his objective to protect Whismur and Vulpix a priority, baiting two of the Hippopotas [1 and 2] to attack him instead. They fall for it and go attack the dog. He evades them without much difficulty and lands a CRITICAL HIT in Hippopotas [2] sending him to a critical state.

Mimikyu gets in front of [Hippopotas 3] to distract his attention, he evades his bite and hits him with “Wood Hammer”. It’s super effective! The Hippopotas is pretty bulky so he tanks it and gets ready to strike again. Still, another attack like that and he’s going down. Mimikyu suffers some damage from the recoil but nothing to worry about right now.

Abra makes his job to distract other of the Hipopotas [4] He blasts him with a “Confusion” that leaves the Hippoptas damaged and, well confused. It took about a third of his health, and made evading his bites way easier.

Vulpix manages to hit both Hippopotas [7 and 6] with her “Powder Snow” is not as strong as she wished it would be, partly because of the heath of the desert taking it’s toll on Vulpix. It’s still super-effective! Getting almost a fourth of their health down. Before they can continue their onslaught Whismur hits [7] legs, leaving him frozen to the ground. And easy target. Her attack let Hippopotas [7] down to a third of his health.

But Hippopotas 6 and 5 haven’t stopped their attacks, they go directly to Vulpix and prepare to chomp down!

Houndour manages to take the hit in time, protecting the younger mons is his priority. The bites aren’t very effective. But are enough to take a good chunk of his health down. Around a third of it.

Houndor and Whismur are having a hard time this round
>>
The three ground types charge at Whismur with reckless abandon. She releases her Ice Beam a second to late missing Hippopotas [6] completely.

Mimikyu acts in time to hit Hippopotas [6] with Wood Hammer. While evading the confused [4] ,still number [6] manages to get underground. He should be badly damaged though. With less than a third of health left. [4] damages itself, he's above half his health still

Houndour jumps to protect Whismur for her three attackers but the heavy ground types hit Houndour too hard! [1] and [3] go for Houndour. One of the "Take Downs" is a CRITICAL hit, while the other one hits fully. Houndour doesn't seem good. He's on a critical state! The sandstorm could do him in.

[5] Bypasses Houndour and lands another CRIT on Whismur, she braces but the hit is enough to send her down to half her health.

Abra catches [2] in time before he digs his way out, attacking with a confusion again and knocking him out! He has enough time to land another attack, and he does so by sending another confusion to Hippopotas [1] taking a third of his health.

Vulpix waits for the right moment. She hits number [5] taking a third of his health with her super effective Powder Snow. It froze him in place! Her attack also hits number [1] putting him in a bad condition, he has a third left of his health.

Houndour manages to tank the hit of [1] for Whismur, he's down for the count. You return the Fire-type to his ball. The hippopotas suffers recoil damage.

Whismur Shoots the confused Hippopotas [4] it's enough to send him to a critical state! He finishes the job himself hitting a wall while trying to use Take Down.

Mimikyu intercepts Hippopotas [3] and attacks using Wood Hammer! The attack is strong enough to fully knock him out. Mimikyu receives some recoil damage, he's starting to look pretty bad. Even though all his damage comes from recoil.

Taking advantage of the easy target Abra keeps blasting "confusion" to Hippopotas [5] he doesn't stop until the ground type is truly unconscious.

Vulpix waits for [6] to come out se she can attack him and [1] at the same time. The Hippopotas damage Vulpix with "Dig" Tackling her from the underground and sending her tumbling down. The attack is strong enough to send her to half her health. She gets on her feet as quickly as she cans and shoots the cold windy gust that knocks out [6] and [1] for good.

What you weren't expecting was for Hippopotas [7] to thaw out of the Ice and land a Bite on Whismur, leaving her with less than a third of her health!

>The sandstorm still rages. Buffeting all of your mons.

She’s a little smaller than the usual Loudred, but that’s just because she just evolved. Beside she’s pretty young for a Pokémon. But with her battle prowess is no surprise she evolved so quickly. Loudred seems a little confused at first. “When did everyone become smaller?” Then she takes a look to the purplish hue of her skin, an inspects her body via touch. Her ears are different, as well as her mouth and factions. She’s really excited! Making little jumps and stomping on the ground while giggling quite softly.

[Loudred]: I evolved! Look at me! I evolved! Hehehe! I’m so big now!
You are really happy for her, but you have to remind her to keep it down so they don’t wake up more Pokémon. She complies, covering her mouth with her hands, but can help but giggle again. She goes to give you a hug and lifts your effortlessly.
She is pretty strong.

Kadabra’s reaction was quite different.

[Kadabra]: This form is adequate. But I may need a bigger knife.

For a split second you felt a terrible headache, but it was soon over.

[Kadabra]: My apologies, I still have to modulate my powers. They have amplified more than I previously thought.

Kadabra goes back to his ball to do some meditation exercises.

He and Eli do a fist-bump. Tremor seems pissed and acts dismissive. Trubbish is trying to stand up.

>All these anons being afraid of pressing our advantage and seeing who this "Mother" is now that the mob's been taken out.

Guys come on, these hippos have admitted to being maneaters, wherever this "Mother" eats probably has some potential good loot and we might be doing people a service if we stumble upon any unlucky trainers that are probably considered missing persons right about now, lets make the Pokenews.
The 7 Hippopotas are down so it's just gonna be Mother versus Percy and Eli's team, if we turn back now even just recover while planning to continue later, the 7 Hippopotas will recover too, maybe not fully but it'll still turn our chances to nil - we can't take on this Mother along with the 7 Hippopotas getting in the way and splitting up the team.
Plus, two of our mons have evolved and so did one of Eli's, our combat strength increased exponentially.

>All these anons being afraid of pressing our advantage and seeing who this "Mother" is now that the mob's been taken out.
That's not it, I want to see if we can revive Houndour with potions once we've set up camp and had a proper sitdown. Considering Whismur and Abra just evolved I'd imagine Houndour's on the brink as well, and I want him to benefit from the experience for the battle with this Mother so we can evolve his ass. I mean alternatively we could feed him one or two of those rare candies we've been hoarding to do the job, but I still kind of want to hold on to those.

We'd be losing our chance at a perfect 7v1 though.
I'm pretty sure the Mother is gonna be some hueg version of a mon like the Electivire we met, we're gonna need to be working together to keep it busy with our fastest mons like Abra and Mimikyu running interverence while laying down the pain with the rest of the team, we can't very well do that with 7 other hippos getting in the way and taking the focus away from Mother, and then all it takes is one or two good hits from her and we'll get divided and conquered.
We can feed Houdour EXP from other mons later, this won't be a regular battle we can just take it easy with and fuck around to spread our gains evenly.

That would be quite the character moment considering her attempts against Electivire back home and her desire to show her worth to "sensei" AKA our gramps, her dad would be proud too I'm sure.

This anon raises a good point tho, it's got an history of being a maneater... We'll see how it goes once we meet and battle it out
>>
>>2929350
I mean, I'd assume the Hippopotas will be out for while. Even if they somehow return to consciousness by the time we've come back from a quick recovery session, they're probably going to be way too injured to actually help their mother out. It'd just be free exp if they try to pick a fight with us again only an hour or two after getting KO'd.

>>
>>2929362
That's a dangerous assumption to make.
Even in their weakened state they can still stall us for a few turns in which Mother - probably a boss tier enemy - can gain the upper hand.
Not only that put we don't even know if potions can work as a Revive substitute meaning houdour might take hours to wake up too, plus we only have 5 potions.
Caution isn't always the better part of valour.
We can have more fights after this one, we aren't even near the town yet, plus we can have him spar against loudred or kadabra or even Jaws if we don't mind the type disadvantage to get lots of EXP and probably evolve him too

They’re in a critical state, even one attack would probably knock them out. Besides, if Houndour would take hours to wake up, then the Hippopotas would almost certainly take even longer, considering they’ll have no one trying to wake them.

>They’re in a critical state, even one attack would probably knock them out
Point is it'll cost us at least one or two rounds if we use an AoE attack and don't roll poorly, they'll also probably flood the cave with sandstorms again and split up rather than focus on one mon just to give Mother a chance to act with little pressure, the way battles go in this quest they'll still manage to do damage before getting KO'd again, and Mother's definitely gonna be strong, she might even crit, she can definitely knock one or maybe two of our mons into the red before the battle proper even starts.
>Besides, if Houndour would take hours to wake up, then the Hippopotas would almost certainly take even longer, considering they’ll have no one trying to wake them.
Assumptions, who's to say the already awake mother won't check up on them in the few hours it would take for houdour to wake up?
Your insistence on having Houdour in the fight can very well jeopardize the whole thing by giving the enemy time to mount any counter offensive at all. Houdour's a fire type anyway, he's the least fit to be an asset to the team in this fight.
7v1 is better odds than 8v8 even if one side is heavily damaged.

It doesn't matter though, the votes have already been cast and I doubt any anon's gonna change their votes before the next session.
>>
>>2929450
I do agree that it's too late for this argument to matter, but I enjoy a good debate so I'll keep it going anyways, if you're game. You're assuming a lot, if you think that the Hippopotas who's only tactic last battle was "Attack the Ice Type" will have the presence of mind to split up, and focus on distracting a couple of our Pokemon so their mother can get a hit in while focusing on using Sandstorm. Besides, their Mother hasn't even woken up yet, we have no idea how long these things sleep for. It could be hours, it could be days. Also making a lot of assumptions that it's going to take hours for Houndour to wake up. In the wild, sure, it'd make sense that it'd take a few hours or longer for a Pokemon that's fainted to regain consciousness, like with the Hippopotas, but considering we're here to administer him a potion or two and wake him up chances are that he'll recover a lot quicker then that. Overall, I'd say that giving ourself an hour to chill at camp, recover, and turn this Hippodown fight into an 8v1 is worth what I'd consider to be a fairly low risk.

Your Pokémon are pretty beat up. Houndour is unconscious, even though you could heal his injuries with a potion he needs rest to recover consciousness, if you got a revive this wouldn’t be a problem. You could try and use a “Rare Candy” as a makeshift revive, it won’t heal him much but the sudden boost of energy should wake him up.
The Hippopotas should be down for a couple of hours at least.

You got five normal potions, you could give each one to a member of your team or managed them differently.

You can hear a loud stomping close by, various of them. Probably Hippodowns, 2 or 3 of them. “Mother” could have sent them to check what’s happening, so she won’t have to move.

Eli is unsure if you should continue or not, she’s got some confidence in Jaws but doesn’t want the rest of her team to get in danger. Gareth just wants to go back home badly.

You decide to go back and set up camp, it’s not too late (around 8:00 pm) maybe after resting for a bit you can come back and try to fight the Mother and her mates.

Following your escape rope, you quickly find yourself at the entrance of the cave again. Using your camping equipment, you start a little campfire and get your sleeping bag out. Mimikyu unsurprisingly wants to cook. Eli serves food to her mons and watch the ghost type cook, she seems baffled by this “Just like Ratatatouille”, even though she already knew he could cook it’s the first time she sees him doing so. Gareth won’t leave camp anymore, he calls his Wimpod out and hugs him tightly.

You tell Eli about how those Hippopotas where calling for a "Mother" who seems to lead the pack. She tells you that if she is really dangerous and is somewhat like the giant Electivire, then the Defense and Capture Corps at Ibarra Village post should have a bounty for her and the rest of the pack.

>Rest until morning, your team will heal with some night rest.
>Rest a couple of hours and break out the potions. Houndour should wake up by then. Return to the cave and… (Go face the Mother, go through the silent middle part of the cavern, go right where you saw those flashes of light)

>who's only tactic last battle was "Attack the Ice Type" will have the presence of mind to split up, and focus on distracting a couple of our Pokemon so their mother can get a hit in while focusing on using Sandstorm.
This and that are different situations, the fight we had they were at full health and thought we were scrubs, their tactics can change now that they're desperate and critical, a cornered animal doesn't act the same as one who believes they're in control.

And if you'll forgive another assumption, I'd say, much like a pokemon with a trainer, they'd act better when their leader's on the field as well, besides even if their tactics still boil down to Sandstorm and rush the Ice type this means all our mons will be taking damage each round still, while letting Mother start on the offensive rather than wasting it by having to use sandstorm herself, plus, whoever's gonna get the full brunt of 7 weakened hippos won't come out unscathed unless they get backup, thereby still diverting attention from Mother giving her more breathing room.
>Besides, their Mother hasn't even woken up yet
Not so fast there friend!
>>2928877
>The Mother has noticed the Ruckus, she's awake, contemplates leaving her chamber.

>Also making a lot of assumptions that it's going to take hours for Houndour to wake up
They were your words, not mine. And considering Hippopotas' are hardier than a little doggo, I'd say they'd wake up sooner than an houndour who jobbed against a type he's weak to, and like it's been established, Mother's awake and aware of a ruckus, she'd surely speed up the process of waking up much like we can supposedly do.
We still don't know if potions work as Revives, especially when Houdour is unconscious not wounded.
>Overall, I'd say that giving ourself an hour to chill at camp, recover, and turn this Hippodown fight into an 8v1 is worth what I'd consider to be a fairly low risk.
You're assuming that it won't be a 8v8, when it might be, which can cause a snowball effect, plus Houdour still has type disadvantage too one solid hit and he's out, I wouldn't consider it "fairly low risk" when we can't know for sure, however we CAN know for sure that if we heal up the rest of our team and soldier on the fight's gonna be 7v1 with the Mother caught by surprise and without backup to use sandstorm in her place thereby granting us free hits if she wants to open up with that or even if she uses it later in the fight.

Isn't this a super bad idea? We're still in their cave, we're setting ourselves up for ambush with this.

Also
>Probably Hippodowns, 2 or 3 of them
Damn, this changes things. Also means they might show up when the fight against Mother breaks out, 3 hippodowns are worse than 7 weakened hippopotas.
But what Eli said gives me an idea...
Alright, new plan!

Skip resting for now, take off Vulpix's Macho brace, use potions on Whismur, Vulpix and Mimikyu and go take out the Hippodowns with Eli while the 7 hippopotas are still unconscious.
With Eli's help we can pool together our pokeballs and capture all 7 unconscious Hippopotas and the 3 soon to be defeated Hippodowns to turn over to the Capture Corps later for a reward, this way we don't have to worry about Mother's goons and we can actually rest fully before the fight and have Houdour in there as well.
>>
>>2929650
>The Mother has noticed the Ruckus, she's awake, contemplates leaving her chamber.

Fair enough, didn't actually notice that. Though that also counters your point that we'll catch her by surprise, since she's already awake.

>They were your words, not mine. And considering Hippopotas' are hardier than a little doggo, I'd say they'd wake up sooner than an houndour who jobbed against a type he's weak to.

No, they were your words.

>Assumptions, who's to say the already awake mother won't check up on them in the few hours it would take for houdour to wake up?

Besides, I'd say that Houndour's way hardier then any of these Hippopotas, considering a crit from him was enough to send one of them straight into a critical state, whereas they needed a Takedown, a crit Takedown, multiple rounds of Sandstorm damage, and another Takedown to KO him. Besides, even if the Hippodown would speed up the process of waking up the Hippopotas a bit, she's got to manage like twelve of them, whereas Houndour's the only Pokemon we've got that's out of it. We've also got potions, which will probably further aid the process.

>And if you'll forgive another assumption, I'd say, much like a pokemon with a trainer, they'd act better when their leader's on the field as well

Eh, I mean kind of, but I imagine we're better at managing our Pokemon then a Hippodown would be at managing a bunch of Hippopotas. Besides, I imagine a Hippodown's grasp of tactics wouldn't be much better then that of it's smaller compatriots. I can't imagine we'd need more then three Pokemon, maybe Whismur, Houndour and Vulpix at most, to handle the Hippopotas in a round, even if they assumedly wake up, and I think that Eli's Pokemon, Mimikyu and Kadabra working together will be able to buy us a round against the Mother, at the very least.

After resting for a while, until Houndour woke up, and having a hearty meal prepared by the little ghost chef, you proceed to heal your team with your potions.
>Used 5 Potions
>Houndour has slightly more than half of of his health
>Whismur has 3/4 of her health
>Vulpix is slightly damaged!
>Abra is at full capacity
>Mimikyu has about 3/4 of his health!

>Avenger the Trubbish looks better, but still shows damage
>Jaws is more than ready to throw down
>Tremor has ¾ of his health.

You also take off Vulpix Macho brace, can't risk it this time. She tells you that after using Powder snow in that last fight, she felt like she could something different with it. She raises a cold and strong current of wind hitting great part of the cave, while taking care of not putting out the bonfire.

>Vulpix learned “Icy Wind”

Eli: All right, time to hunt down some Hippos!

Doesn't matter now. But she was awake, she heard a ruckus but she wasn't on alert because she didn't know what it was, if we pressed we'd catch her by surprise.

Anyway, we're now past this so it doesn't matter, lets stop now that the quest's in session.

>“Maybe I can try and talk to them, they are just following their instincts”
Start with this, Pokeautism takes precedence, maybe if we tell Mother that if she attacks humans it'll bring down the wrath of humans on them she'll stop, kinda like Electivire knows that if he killed any trainer in his domain he'd get fucked by the force of the Capture Corps.
Otherwise

Percy: Well , they are pretty dangerous so as Eli said, they might got bounties on them, and maybe there’s something useful down there.

Percy: And, as you can notice, battling is good for Pokémon growth, it’s a necessary part of being a trainer.

Percy:Besides, those Pokémon are pretty dangerous, knocking them out and taking them to the C&D forces is probably for the best. Or they could be a danger to other trainers

Houndour is trying to escape the Sand Tomb, Mimikyu and Abra team up to attack [1] before he escapes underground.

The Mother is still watching but not for long.

Mimikyu and Abra hit [1] with another Shadow Sneak, Confusion combo leaving him with a fourth of his health! Loudred finishes him off with a direct Ice Beam!

>Hippopotas [1] is down for the count and Frozen.

The beam from Loudred managed to freeze some of the ground making it slippery for any mon trying to get a direct hit to her.

Houndour manages to get out of the Sand-Tomb and deliver and goes to deliver a Crunch to [2], the attack leaves him at half his health!

Hippopotas [2] traps Loudred in a Sand-tomb, making her take damage, but she's toughing it up, shielding herself from the sand.

>Vulpix Partial pass!

The Ice type mon manages to evade some of the damage caused by the sandstorm, and gets ready in case one of the Hippodown try anything. Since one of the Hippodowns is down for the count she can focus on attacking the one left without much trouble. Her Icy wind freezes [2] even further and send him into the yellow! It's a super-effective hit.

The Mother finally steps in, raising the Sandstorm once again!

[Sandstorm counter resets to one]

DC: 4

Hippodown [2] Rushes to Vulpix, he's going for a Take Down!

The "Mother" gets closer, she's way bigger than the males. Easily doubles them in size. She opens her mouth but doesn't roar, she's preparing for a very loud "Yawn"!

Houndour and Abra try to finish Hippodown [2] with another confusion and a crunch.

Loudred is tanking the damage from the sandstorm, she aims an Ice Beam to the Mother.

Jaws goes directly to the big-ass hipe, preparing to hit her with Aqua tail. Tremor hurls mud to her face using mud-slap in an attempt to lower her accuracy. Trubbish tries to poison her using Toxic! He hurls the poisonous liquid that came from his mouth to the Hippowdon!

>Makes her flinch!
In less than a second, the Ghsot type finds himself face to face with the Mother, he follows up by landing a particulatly strong slap to the Mother’s face, taking her by surprise and making her flinch. Stopping her yawning. Pretty good, since her big mouth and all the smoke she was producing out of it could made various of the Pokémon drowsy.
>Vulpix
>Succesful pass!
The ice type manages to avoid the other Hippowdon [2] take down and hits him with and Icy wind! Lowering his health to a third of it!
>Kadabra: Partial pass
>Houndour: Succesful pass!
Kadabra launches another Psychic attack onto Hippodown [2] and Houndoour closes in to deliver a nasty bite! With Vulpix attack the Hippodown is finally knocked out!

>Jaws: Partial Pass
Takes the chance to hit her With Aqua Tail! It’s super effective! But he can get the attack fully in since the Hippodown counters him with a Crunch, the bite is a quick one, but is enough to leave him with around a third of his health left.
>Tremor: Succesful pass!
The Sandile hurls balls of mud to the Mother, enraging her, the mud gets in her eyes troubling her vision.

>Loudred: Succesful pass! FREEZE!
Loudred manages to tank the damage from the Sand-Tomb and the Sandstorm and delives an Ice-Beam to the Mother! It’s super Effective! I t even freezes him! But the Hippodown is too massive to be Frozen completely, she can’t move, but you expect her to thaw out soon.

>Avenger the Trubbish: Partial pass!

The flurry of attacks rains down on the Hippowdon it’s massive body. Kadabara deliver as many confusions as he can produce. Mimikyu extends his limbs to land a “Wood Hammer” he’s hurt by the recoil. Vulpix attacks with an Icy wind, freezing the Hippowdon slightly.
Houndour tries to get a Crunch in but the Ground type skin is way rougher than what the Dark type previously thought the bite caused damage but not as much as intended,
Loudred shoots another Ice Beam! But the sand-tomb and the sandstorm damaging her body don’t let her concentrate fully on the attack, she ends up shooting a slightly weaker version of it, thankfully it’s still super-effective.
Tremor helps out with a “Crunch” of his own but he finds the same problem as Houndour. Avenger does his best to shoot a “Seed Bomb” onto the Hippowdon! It’s super effective! But this attack seems to take a toll on the Trubbish.
Finally Jaws rushes in to finish it off with an “Aqua Tail” . He jumps in the air, strange water stream seamlessly appears around it and starts spinning around the mon’s tail. It’s similar to a drill. The water drill grows in size to a ridiculous measure.

[Jaws]: EAT THIS FUCKER. MY TAIL IS MY SOUL

The croc’s tail comes down hard and fast onto the “Mother’s” face. The attack is strong enough to send her a couple of meters back. It’s a CRIT

DON'T GET HUNG UP ON THE SMALL STUFF, IF THERE'S A WALL IN OUR WAY WE BUST THROUGH!
>>
>>2930826
The small stuff might be the difference between us winning and half of our Pokémon getting knocked out in one attack though. Realistically speaking, a weird tactic we’ve never tried or practiced before has a lower chance of succeeding, even if it’s cool as hell, then a pair of normal attacks, and the Pokémon aside we’d probably have to pass some sort of roll as well, to command three of our Pokémon at once, and even so probably still do it at a penalty to the DC. If this Earthquake connects then the only Pokémon I see shaking it off are Kadabra, Mimikyu, and Vulpix, and likely only by the skin of their teeth besides. The rest of them are injured enough that an attack from something as strong as this Hippodown could straight up knock them out.
>>
>>2930996

Mimikyu goes towards Hippowdon once again and delivers another heavy slap to her face! The ground type flinches and loses her equilibrium. Followed by that Vulpix Extrasensory and Kadabra’s confusion hit the humongous ground type.

Houndour runs towards “The Mother” and lands a devastating “Crunch” to her neck, with enough strength to cause major bleeding. Her defenses have been compromised by the shock and pain! Making it easier for Tremor to deliver a “Crunch” of his own on one of Hippowdon hind legs.

Loudred launches a power Ice Beam with all of her strength, it hits “The Mother” fully and makes her take a step back, throwing her even more off-balance.
Finally Jaws runs toward her, holding Avenger the Trubbish. He hits her with another “Aqua Tail” making her stumble a couple of steps back. Before Finally shoving Avenger in her face.

>Avenger used Explosion

>Get the Hippos!
>Go for LOOT!

You threw two of your empty Pokéballs to the Hippowdons, they are down for the count so catching them is pretty easy.

>Caught two Man-Eating Hippowdons!

Eli does the same with the Mother, you can see a grin of satisfaction on her face. She goes to tend Avenger and Jaws who got caught on the explosion an are currently unconscious.

The sand in the Hippowdons den is different from the one on the desert, it's loose and silky. Without a doubt it's "soft-sand"! An item that boost ground-type moves. Facing the Hippos here would have been a bad Idea since they would definitely get a boost from being here.

You get some of the sand into a little puch that was conveniently lying there.

>Obtained Soft Sand!

You look around the den, it's mostly full of half chewed bones of humans and Pokémon.

Besides those, there's a strange stone artifact lying there, seems like a sort of figurine made of carved stone. Useless, but you could sell it for a pretty hefty sum to an archeologist and well, Ibarra Village is an archeological site.

>Obtained Ancient Stone Idol!

>Besides that, there's ripped bags and backpacks laying around, their contents have been crushed by the Hippos but you can manage to salvage some stuff

>3 Great balls
>1 Ultra ball
>A Malfunctioning Pokédex! (Need some repairs)

Eli joins you shortly, you tell her about the sand and she takes some for herself.
The girls looks solemnly at the remains of the deceased trainers.

Eli: Kind of scary to think those could've been us, don't cha think?

Eli: Couldn’t have done this without you weirdo.

She offers you a fistbump and a smile. You take them without a second thought.

You should go back to camp, your mon's deserve a rest.

You and Eli head back to camp followed by your mons, you encounter Gareth, who after a hearth to hearth with Wimpod and hearing the roars of the Hippowdons finally decided to join into the fight, albeit a little too late.

After returning to camp you all decided to take turns to guard the entrance, in case the Cacturnes return.

It's pretty late now, so you should.

I’d like to explore more, but all of our mons are pretty beat up at this point, would rather not risk it. Has Houndour really not evolved after all that?

Dude's gonna get himself killed once we split ways, so we might as well try to keep that from happening.

Houndour evolves into Houndoom at a later level than Whismur to Loudred and Abra to Kadabra. I'm guessing this universe might also have two-stage evolutions take longer than three-stage evolutions in exchange for more power or something.

But he only evolves at Level 23. Whismur evolves at 20, and while Loudred's been in quite a few fights, Houndour's been in even more, at this point, so I'd think he'd be at the very least the same level as Loudred, likely a level or two higher. After helping beat up two Level 34 (Minimum) Pokemon and another much higher Level Pokemon (The Mother was apparently twice the size of the other Hippowdon's, so maybe even Level 68?) I'd have thought he'd have at least leveled up a few times.

Hang with mons!

Percy: So, how’s everyone holding up?

[Loudred]: Great! That was a thrilling fight! And look at me! I evolved! I feel so bigger and stronger! Like I could take on anyone! Hehe!
She’s still pretty happy from evolving she took it pretty well.

[Vulpix]: That was insane! Are Pokémon supposed to be that big? And hey, when I’m evolving! Loudred already did and she’s younger, that’s not fair!

[Kadabra]: Life isn’t fair Vulpix. The fight was alright.

[Mimikyu]: Going against her was pretty reckless of you Master, I’m glad you find yourself unhurt.

[Houndour]: I’ll have to side with the Ghost, things could have been pretty dangerous. And fuck sand. I need some rest.

[Vulpix]: Thanks for covering me big-guy! You didn’t look so lame out there.

[Houndour]: I was just doing my job as a teammate. You are too fragile.

Percy: Hey Houndour, I was thinking, since Jaws and Loudred evolved, shouldn’t you too…

[Houndour]: Evolve? Yes, I could had evolved after defeating the “Mother”. I choose not too,

Percy:Why?

[Houndour]: Becoming a wild Houndoom means you are strong enough to lead a Pack. But there’s things I want to do first. Learning Inferno and Foul Play mostly, that will be harder once I evolve.

[Houndour]:Got a problem?

Fair enough Houndour.

>Still too young, tell her she’ll evolve once the time is right.
Maybe do it after this gym, she'll be doing a lot of the work for this one, being Ice-Type and all that, so she'll probably be experienced enough by then.
>>
>>2931606
>Let’s help him learn those moves then!
If it's easier to learn those moves unevolved then it's definitely worth it to let him go unevolved. Although, it really shows how much he's still detached from us when he stops his own evolution as opposed to letting us choose.

Percy: Eh, fair enough. Then let’s get started on learning those moves! Not today though, right now is resting time.

[Houndour]: I trust you partner. But evolution is a crucial part of our lives, at least for my pack. I couldn’t let anyone else take that decision from me.

[Houndour]: (To Vulpix) It’s not just a “get stronger” boost. It’s an irreversible change.

Percy: Yeah, and Vulpix Houndour’s right, is still too early for you too evolve, Loudred evolved early but she does it twice, you only do it once. So it’s better to take it slow. We’ll do it when the time’s right, you need to learn some more moves first. Many moves are harder or nigh-impossible to learn once you are a Ninetales.

[Vulpix]: Fineeeee, but if we found an Ice Stone you are definitely going to use it on me Trainer!

Percy:Why don’t we make it a competition? See who can learn their signature move first. Houndour with Inferno and Vulpix Blizzard, or Sheer Cold!

(Vulpix Perks out at the suggestion she seems pretty excited, she wants to surpass Houndour in something. Houndour acts uninterested, he thinks there’s no way Vulpix can learn it first.)

[Whismur]: I’m glad about my changes. I can carry Percy now! And Houndour too!

Whismur does is effortlessly with one arm, while holding Houndour up with the other.

[Whismur]: Wait, now they can’t carry me. And I can’t ride Big-bro’s (Houndour) back anymore…

She gets a little bummed out for a moment, but decides to carry Houndour and you anytime you need as thanks for doing the same for her when she was a Whismur.

>Houndour is glad you respect his decision!
>Vulpix is motivated!

[Gareth]: Hey, is this normal?

Eli: What?

[Gareth]: He’s growling and screeching at his team

Eli:Ah yeah, that’s Percy for you. He can sort of talk to them. Wait no, I’m completely sure he legit talks.

[Gareth]:How? Why?

Eli: I dunno, but’s pretty cool. He’s pretty cool.

After talking with your mons, Percy decides to sleep, Gareth will act as a guard during the first hours, in case the Cacturne’s return, then Eli, and finally you.

Percy has been haunted by nightmares lately
This time he dreams of…

The body you inhabit isn’t your own.
It doesn’t move according to your desires.
You are just a passenger on someone else memories.
Someone young, shorter than you.
She’s led by men on lab coats escorted by armed men wearing familiar uniforms.

You are in some sort of hospital, or lab you aren’t completely sure. You’ve never seen this place before.
But for some reason it feels too familiar, it gives you a sense of being trapped inside.

You are standing alone in a strange ample room, it has a single iron door and black crystals the obscure the people observing you and measuring your results.

In front of you there’s various boxes labelled with different weights, you still can’t lift the heavier ones. It’s hard to move things you are unfamiliar with. You need to feel a sense of connection or it becomes complicated.

They move you to a new chamber. Inside there’s a Nidoking. He growls at you. They brought him from the wild just for the test.
You move closer to him, while concentrating on the beast. His mind is simple, he only feels anger, it’s easy to plant yourself inside him.

He doesn’t know what’s happening. So he can’t struggle.

You move his limbs as if it were your own, following the instructions from the speakers in the room. You make him move, attack targets, and use him as an “amplifier” of your own abilities. You ask them if you can keep him, but the men in lab-coats say no, they can’t have a wild Pokémon around the facility for long.

After the test is done you feel pretty angry and “break” him out of pure habit, a slight accident. The persons in lab coats are mad at you, they wanted to study his brain after you tampered with his mind.

Seems like you aren’t getting any dessert today.

Everyday is like this. So boring.

So boring.
So boring.
So boring.
So boring.
So alone.

Nighttime is the only good time of day.
Because you get to see things.
Things outside this place
Outside your room with the dolls.
In your dreams.

A young boy on an adventure.
He has friends.
He seems to have fun.
You are jealous of him.

Percy is looking at himself from someone else’s perspective.
Is like looking into a strange mirror.
For a second there, you feel like you have control over yourself again.

Your mind feels like if it was in a blender, two consciousness mixed together.

Percy: Who are you? What’s this place?

Images flashes through your brain, an hospital, a nursing room. A woman screaming to a cold looking man. A blonde young girl crying. A kindergarten where all the kids keep far away from you. A familiar old man wearing a Capture and Defense uniform. A picture of the five of them, the cold man is holding a little girl smaller than the blonde one.

A notebook with a name.
Victoria Orizaba

Then more images start to roll in. A big complex of laboratories, endless hall that remind you of the white room. Outside there’s vegetation, like an ample forest.

A sign reads “White veil labs”

Percy:You are also inside Vulpix?

A voice whispers to you from all directions.

[Ghost?]: She’s my connection.
[Ghost?]: Like a tunnel to get to you….

Eli: Hey dude! It's your turn!

You are woken by the girl, it's around 4:00 am, you'll let Eli sleep a bit and then you'll be on your way. She tells you that while you were asleep some other dude came out of the cave!
One of the Elite Four! The guy who has that nature show at "Pokémon Planet!" "The Krookodile Hunter!" She tried to wake you up since she thought you'd like to meet him but you just couldn't wake up. He gave her his autograph and went on his way earlier.

The sandstorm outside has finally died down.
After a quick breakfast and full night of rest your team and you are in top-notch condition!

You tell your companions that you all should check out the Trapinch nest. Eli's down for it, Tremor will act as the guide since he was the one to find it.

Gareth just groans and begrudgingly accepts to accompany you, since he doesn't want to be alone.

After walking for a while you can see the little orange ground types walking around. Vibrabas and Flygons protect the nest from above.

[Gareth]: (to his Wimpod) You want a companion Bug-man? Don’t worry, you’ll always be my number one bug! But maybe another Pokémon could be useful! What do you think little bug-boy? Want a homie?

[Bugman]: (Moves around happily, he didn’t quite get what his trainer was saying but he likes seeing him smiling)

Eli: Welp, I already got a ground type, and I don’t want Tremor trying to eat one of his teammates, had enough of that with Jaws and Avenger…. Maybe I’ll try and spar with some of them.

You try to appear as non-hostile as possible, going towards the group relaxing your body as much as you can, you get on all fours, start clicking your teeth and go towards them.

Meanwhile Eli is busy trying to get the attention of an uninterested Flygon.

Gareth is coaching Bugman to try and make friends. Bugman seems a little scared so Gareth tries to put an example, he carries Bug-Man and goes towards the nest. Only to be stopped by various Trapinch trying to bite his ankles.

Eli manages to avoid the misunderstanding with the Flygon after Jaws hit him with a “Water Gun” after understanding her desires the Flygon gladly accepts to spar, mostly to show off to a Female she’s interested in. Other Flygons and Vibrabas soon join in to the friendly spar.

Gareth is on the floor shielding Bug-man the Wimpod from the Trapinchs trying to get a bite at him. The nibble on his body laughing at his screams of pain.

A single small Trapinch approaches Gareth, he doesn’t bite him like the others. Pressing his head against his hand softly. Gareth takes a Pokéball and offers it to him. The small Trapinch bite Gareth’s hand instead, making him yelp in pain.

You approach the nest, still walking with your hands on the hot sand. It stings a little, but you manage. A couple of Flygons land nearby. They don’s seem threatening but they are overseeing the whole situation. The young Trapinchs take notice of Percy.

[Trapinch:] HUMAN!
[Trapinch2:] POKÉMON!
[Trapinch3:] HUMAN-POKÉMON!
[Crowd Of Trapinch]: HUMAN-POKÉMON! HUMAN-POKÉMON! HUMAN-POKÉMON! HUMAN-POKÉMON! HUMAN-POKÉMON!

[Flygon]: State your desire, strange Human who walks like us.

Percy: I’m just a trainer passing by, I just wanted to see if anyone would like to accompany us on our adventure!

[Flygon]: You ask for permission instead of beating us to submission. That’s not so common. But the ones you must ask are the young ones.

[Trapinch]: WANT FOOD, DIFFERENT FOOD, BERRIES
[Trapinch2]: WANT MATE, DIFFERENT MATE
[Trapinch3]: MATES! FOOD! MATES! FOOD!
Various Trapinch seem eager for travel, even though they don’t seem completely aware of what it entails.
[Flygon]:If you truly desire to have one of us as your companion, then a Blood Pact is in order.

[Crowd Of Trapinch]: BLOOD PACT! BLOOD PACT! BLOOD PACT! BLOOD PACT!

Percy: What’s a “blood pact”?

[Flygon]:If the name makes you unsure, you aren’t fit to train us.

[Flygon]: But first, let me ask you Human. Why do you desire another companion? I see you have Pokémon and other Humans traveling with you.

[Flygon]: So be it! Let the Blood pact begin!

[Crowd Of Trapinch]: BLOOD PACT! BLOOD PACT! BLOOD PACT! BLOOD PACT!

The Trapinch gets closer to you and examines you thoroughly. Head to toes.

[Trapinch]: ….THIS HUMAN WON’T DO….

Percy: What?

[Flygon]: What?

[Crowd Of Trapinch]: What?

The little Trapinch goes past you and starts walking in a wobbly manner to the 22-year-old college dropout being assaulted by a crowd of younger Trapinch. He shoos them off, they only leave because they were getting bored anyway.

[Trapinch]: THIS IS THE ONE
[Gareth]: You came to save us… You, you, do you want to come with us?

The Trapinch takes Gareth Pokéball and captures himself. The trainer let’s him out soon after and lifts him.

>Gareth caught a Trapinch

[Gareth]: Orange savior! See Bug-man? This was a good idea! From now one you shall be called: Sand-Rider! This name is a proof of our unbreakable bond!

Welp, that happened.
What do?
>Get some sparring done with Eli! (Your mons may get tired and you still have a desert to cross)

Welp, I'm happy with this. Those two are perfect for each other.

Hmm, pretty sure Drilbur live in caves and Gligar in mountains...

A Drilbur would be cool, but they're more likely to be in caves than the desert, an Onix might be cool, but again I think they'd be more likely in caves. The only desert grass types I could see us finding are Cacnea and Maractus, neither of which would boost our team much.

You decide to take the chance to spar a little! Using both Houndour and Vulpix, Vulpix cause she needs the training, and Houndour to see if you can help speed up the process of him learning some new moves.

There’s various opponents ahead. Which ones will help you train?

>Both of your mon against a Flygon, he seems pretty strong and isn’t holding back at all, you’ll need some heavy firepower to take him down (Focuses on raising their attack and sp.attack)

>Eli! She wants to spar with Tremor and Avenger. (Overall boost to their battle experience!)

>Fight Some Vibravas!

You strap the Macho Brace onto Vulpix to maximize gains. They will be fighting in tandem, so this little exercise may make them slightly better at double battles.

Roll me to d100!
First one for Houndour second one for Vulpix!

>Houndour is at type disadvantage but is still more experienced in battle than Vulpix

50: Barely manages to hold his own, raises his stats slightly
60: Does pretty good, taking out a Vibrava by himself and holds his own against a second one
70: Manages to take two of the ground types down! While evading their oncoming attacks, He's doing great!
80: Keep em coming!
90+: The flames won't die down.

Vulpix has a obvious stat advantage against, even though she isn't as strong as Houndour he can still lay down some damage, on the other hand, an attack from the Vibravas will cause much more damage on her.

DC 60: Finishes one off! Succumbs to the first hit from other one
DC 70: Deals with two of the ground/dragon types! Manages to tank a hit!
DC 80: She's not going down, by evading just by the skin of her teeth and tanking a hit she manages to deal enough damage to defeat three Vibrabas on her own
90+: Let's freeze these bastards

>Moderate success!
>69: Houndor takes out a Vibrava by himself and damages another one before finally succumbing.
>67: Vulpix finishes the Vibrava and tries to fight another before getting knocked out!

The group of ground/ dragon types surround your Pokémon, Vulpix manages to hurt them with her Ice-Type attacks while Houndour damages them further using bites and Crunches. He has tanked some hits while Vulpix barely dodges the attacks directed to her.

[Vulpix]: Hey! Why aren’t you protecting me this time? What gives?
[Houndour]: This is a training session, the perfect moment for you to learn to take a hit
[Vulpix]: I can take a hit! It’s your duty as a male to protect me!
[Houndour]: Where did you get that idea? That’s a thing you do for your “mate”!
[Vulpix]: And?
[Houndour]: Don’t imply weird things

Vulpix bickering distracts Houndour, the Fire type gets pummeled by various Vibravas using “Bulldoze” putting him out of commission for this fight. Vulpix manages to knock out the one Houndour was previously biting, but with the bigger fire type out of the picture all the Vibravas direct their attention to Vulpix.

[Vulpix]: Oh shit
The Vibrabas attack Vulpix relentlessly using another round of Bulldoze! Vulpix brittle defenses couldn’t hold them for long.
They don’t seem to work well in tandem as for now.
>Gained some battle experience! (A bigger amount in the case of Vulpix thank to her brace!)
>Vulpix and Houndour need some rest, for a couple hours
It’s time to go, netter get moving if you are planning on getting anywhere! It’s around 3:00 clock, if you keep going without any distractions you may find Ibarra Village barely before nightfall.

You are still going on foot of course!

>Roll me a d6 to determine happenings!

Eli: It’s the fucking sun.

Oh right.
You’ve been walking aimlessly for hours, you were almost sure you were on the right path but the sun has been getting stronger and stronger, messing with your mind.
Tremor who had been acting as a guide wandered off for a bit to try and get a bite out of a nearby Trapinch, in reality the Trapinch was just and old broken Pokéball forgotten by some trainer a long ago. He’s currently trying to orient himself again, but there’s no point of reference for miles! Just fucking sand!

Gareth seems like he’s about to die.

Your body is becoming tired as well, why couldn’t you just find a nice desert oasis? Freshen up yourself a little, maybe take a dip on the water with Eli. You wonder if she packed any swimsuits… Pokémon themed maybe…
Wait no, the heath is getting to you, stop this train of thought.

Your canteen is almost depleted, Jaws is in his ball, he has become your last resort water source. Even though you aren’t sure how safe it is too drink water produced by a Croconaw who used to live in the sewers.

Eli: Tough it up you pansy. We aren’t gonna die yet

Eli: Not before I become a champ, and prove that old hag wrong. and those guys at school, and that rich dicky dude too, cuz my team is the best, and I’m the best and…
Eli seems to be rambling on and on, before failing to the sand she’s at her limit.

You get an idea, seems like the sun hasn’t fried all your neurons yet.

Percy: Let’s just go back

Eli:To the cave? We left hours ago! We have no idea where it is!

Percy:Not the cave, the rest stop.

You let Kadabra out, with him using teleport for his evasive maneuvers and him evolving he should have more control over his teleportation!

You get all of your mons inside their balls and get closer to the Psychic type. The only problem is that Kadabra isn’t fully aware of where you are at the moment. But he should be able to get you back there.

>>
>>2932847
Speak for yourself.
He's been rather inoffensive so far and is pretty much cementing himself as party comic relief without it going overboard.
I don't mind if he wants to stay, even if he's shit as a trainer and doesn't help in fights he's still an extra set of hands and has other avenues to be useful.
>>
>>2932854
Agreed. Eli is gonna be the champion as far as I'm concerned. Percy doesn't care for the attention. He's doing the gym challenge because thats the stereoptypical way of doing a pokemon journey, and kinda because he got challenged to do it, openly by Eli but more deep down, by his family's expectations. He wants to prove himself, but nothing beyond that.

Where am I going with this? There's more to a travel companion than a good battler. He may suck at pokemon but he seems to be a bro. Like us, he'll need to find his talent.
>>
>>2932788
if we didnt already have houndour my inner genwunner would have loved for percy to have a charmander
>>
>>2932920
Don't know why you went on such an unrelated tangent regarding Percy.
I just want to enter at least one contest with Eli throughout the journey and that's enough for me: crass tomboys awkwardly attempting doing girly things is the best.

Anyway, I was mostly talking about letting us carry extra supplies, being our designated driver or lending us some extra legitimacy on the road with authority figures and the like if we ever need to, things like that, for example: I doubt the D&C Corps posts we'll come across will open up on bounties like the one we stumbled upon by accident until we get some badges, plenty of people won't take two 15 year olds seriously even if they're trainers, but add in a 22 year old and things might change.

Also with just Eli and Percy we can't get stuff like Gareth and Eli's little talk about Percy in >>2931750
it can really put into perspective what characters think of us organically and without Percy's presence affecting it.

Lastly:
Three's better than two as well in the chance of us getting accosted in towns and such: two 15 year olds on their journey might seem like easy targets, but having a 22 year old with us can dissuade some.
Remember guys, this is an edgier Pokemon journey, not everyone we meet's gonna be friendly or an ineffectual "villain", the dead remains of trainers and their mons we just saw back in Mother's lair should also be a reminder of that.
>>
>>2932988
I really don't think a twenty two year old's presence is as valuable or as big a deal as you think. More than anything, if 15 is the standard age for trainers to start their journey, they probably won't be as looked down upon as you're estimating. If Dick's driving a truck is anything to indicate, we don't need a designated driver, either.

I'm not attached to Gareth in any way and can take him or leave him. Him coming with us isn't mandatory or assumed.

Let's not forget that Percy, Eli, Dick or Kali aren't an accurate representation of newly graduated trainers.
Lots of them are just average 15 year olds with recently acquired super powered pets they have little experience with if the tournament was anything to go by.
There's still plenty of reasons to look down at 15 year olds when they're just starting, at the end of the day they're still in their early teens, which would cause plenty of older people to look down at them, it's not like they aren't a dime a dozen or exceptional because of it.
And thinking people over at the Capture corps would just give out info on bounties and let any 15 year olds fresh off of Graduation tackle stuff like Mother and her maneating pack is just silly.
More often than not they risk sending kids off to their potential deaths, it would be better to keep a clear conscious and tell them no out of principle.
I'm just saying we probably won't get details from the posts without getting badges first, so we'd have to rely on just stumbling onto them like we did with Mother and her pack, not that having just any adult with us is a sure thing, after all, depending on how Gareth acts we might still get the same treatment. It CAN help is all I'm saying.
As for driving, if anons want to drive I'm not against it, I was referring to having the option to kick back and let someone be the driver rather than being forced to drive yourself.
Also Dick's a rich kid, do Percy or Eli even have a driving license? I'm willing to believe anyone can drive a dune buggy in the desert but anything else you'd probably need something, right?

And if Gareth doesn't want to come with us or we fuck up a roll for it I won't be salty or anything, I'm just saying the journey can be better with that guy around so disregarding him completely as an option isn't wise, there's also a huge chance he'll leave at some point by his own volition too, we never know and if he actually turns out to be useless or more trouble than he's worth I'm okay with dropping him at any time.

>>2933024
Kek, right to escalating to insults? We agreed on the same thing, why the personal attack lad?
The argument was on the potential usefulness of Gareth aside from fighting, but you open with a whole paragraph about Eli's assumed champion status and your interpretation of Percy's character and desires for this journey and pass it off as related to Gareth's potential usefulness.
It's an unrelated tangent that doesn't go where you think it went mate.

A sudden flash of light blinds you for a second, making you blink. Once you open you eyes again you are standing at the rest stop, at the beginning of the desert.

[Gareth]: We are back, just like that. Just “fwoosh” and we are here.

Eli: Hehe, no more sand, no more heath, hehehe

Eli:Suck it stupid “Whistling Desert!” You are the best Psychic dude!

[Eli & Gareth]: Hahaha! Kadabra! Kadabra!

The pair is really thankful to the psychic Pokémon, they try lift him up while chanting his name. He’s a bit surprised and instinctively draws his knife to ward them off a bit. He’s a bit skittish.
The two trainers understand and take a step back, holding their hands up to show they don’t mean no harm.
The three of you are beat, so you’ll take a moment to rest here, get some water and maybe some drinks.
Your original plan is to take a Buggy, Eli and you will pool the $2000 together, Gareth wants to help but the reason why he didn’t take a buggy on the first place is because he is completely broke. He’ll give both of you $250 instead, cause that’s the only money he has left.

Seems like the man renting Buggies has still a few left, you could go and rent one and hop in later after resting a bit. Besides that, you can see Pidgey and Sporty girl approach someone who stopped for some gas, he’s driving a big-ass black pickup truck. It’s Dick!
Besides that, you can spy someone inside the rest-stop who seems to be trying to cover her face with a newspaper to avoid being seen. Accompanying her is a Piplup. You are pretty sure she’s Kali. Also. It seems like this place has an internet connection and service, so you can use your cellphone once again. You receive some messages from your parents asking how you are doing on your first day out of home.

Gareth and Eli are considerably far away, downing some iced-teas. So, they can’t hear your conversation. There’re quite a few things you want to ask the girl.

Percy: How’s Growlithe doing?

Kali: He’s fine, he’s been putting a lot of effort since Piplup arrived.

The Piplup seems happy to hear that he has helped his teammate try his best. He seems to want a hug from the girl. She just pats him uninterestedly on his head and tell her to finish her Ice-Cream.

Kali:Is that all? You just wanted to make sure I haven’t killed my Pokémon like the “horrible trainer ”I am? Call Pokémon-Public Services on me for abuse?

Percy: Well no, I just wanted to see how he was holding up. Also, I'm positive Dick is going to try to ask you to ride with him. Eli and I just teleported back here after trying to hoof it in the desert, I really wouldn't recommend it. Did you know deserts get really hot?

Kali: You don’t say.

Percy: I know, crazy right? Well If you want a lift, though, you're welcome to join us. Got one seat left in the buggy.

The girl glances to Eli and Gareth resting their heads on a table.

Kali: I’ll consider it…

Percy:Also, remember the ghost thing? We’ll I think it’s following me. By any chance, does the name Victoria Orizaba sounds familiar?

All the color drains from the girl face, she tells Piplup she can finish her treat later and puts her in her ball. She takes you by the shirt and drags you out to the back of the place. She demands a full explanation, you proceed to tell her about your latest nightmares, and more in-depth detail of the situation at the doll room. She’s pretty pissed at you for not telling her earlier.

Kali:Why didn’t you contact me sooner? God dammit Percival!

Kali:Don’t call her out in your dreams, and don’t antagonize her. Just try to interact with her as little as possible. You don’t want to catch her more of her attention!

Kali: Better call my Grandfather, we really need to change the locks of that room. I’ll stick around for a bit. So, we can discuss this matter further in a more private place.

Kali:For the time being, take this. It should keep you free of nightmares. But I don’t think is enough to fully drive her off. Just make sure to go to sleep wearing it.

Kali hands you a black bracelet, seems to be made from dark-colored leather and is adorned with small black feathers. You aren’t sure where the leather comes from, but the feather are definitely from a Murkrow. Kali seems to be wearing a similar one.
It’s like if you were wearing matching pairs.

You go back with your group, Kali says hi to Eli and the two girls are quickly chattering about their journeys and the Gym, Kali seems pretty impressed with the story about the man-eating Hippowdons, you can’t tell if her interest is genuine or not. Is hard to read her when she’s talking to others. Gareth asks you as subtly as he can if she’s is 15 too.

You tell him she is. Gareth starts beating himself over, he feels like shit. The four of you take a well deserved rest before hitting the road again!

The pair of girls and Dick are nowhere to be seen, judging by the number of buggies left you can assume they went with the rich boy on his truck.

And, by the way. Who’s driving?

>You of course! You may have lightly crashed your parents’ cars last time you attempted to drive, but a second attempt at driving wouldn’t hurt!
>Eli: she doesn’t have a driver a license as well and has never driven before. But she really wants to try it. “Let’s hit the road, full throttle”
>Gareth: the only one with actual driving experience and a license
>Kali: She thinks she can handle it with no problem. How complicated could driving a buggy be?
>Kadabra: He’s interested in these humans’ contraptions
>
>>

>Gareth: the only one with actual driving experience and a license
Overturning the buggy and getting stranded again isn't something that sounds fun. Since we have someone who can actually drive, we probably ought to let him do it.

>Gareth

You briefly consider letting Kadabra take the wheel and vouching for him, but this would be the first time he drives, and getting stranded in the desert a second time will definitely not be fun.

Kadabra instead decides to analyze the car before it gets on the road, and maybe read Gareth's mind after you all get to Ibarra Village

Eli's a bit disappointed but accepts since she doesn't want to go through the whole ordeal again.

Gareth gets a little pumped, you shouldn't take too long, he has some experience driving fast but carefully since he worked as a pizza-delivery-boy for quite a while.

During the trip you should....

>Talk to Kali a little more, evading the heavy subjects, try to make peace with her. (What should you talk about? Her team? Dick? Ask for a rematch?)
>Talk to Eli,( what is she planning to do after arriving at the village? should you keep camping or get an actual hotel room for the night?)
>Talk to Gareth (Why did he choose now to go on a journey? Is he aiming for a particular objective?)
>Rest for a while

Gareth is focused on the road, Eli insisted on riding shotgun, she currently takes care of Avenger who’s sitting on her lap looking at the ample desert. He would like to sketch the view but the road is too bumpy for that.
Vulpix is out of her ball, she’s small enough to fit in the buggy with the four of you and is currently looking out for wild Pokémon. She’s practicing her “Powder snow” and “Ice Shard” on her own, trying to hit rocks to improve her accuracy.

Percy: Hey, I was meaning to ask about your new teammate. Piplup are quite rare, I don’t think you can catch a wild one here in Aztlan. At least not easily

Kali: I didn’t catch her. She’s a special breed Pokémon from White Veil labs. I managed to get it delivered in time thanks to some connections.

Percy: I didn’t think you would go for such a cute and friendly one, she seems like a hugger.

Kali: Me neither, I told HER I wanted a Froakie with “Protean”, but it seems like they aren’t breeding Dark-types at the moment. Instead, she sent me, her. A Piplup breed to have a friendly and easy to manage personality for starting trainers.

Kali:At least her battle prowess is more than impressive. She managed to catch up to Growlithe in no-time. Leaving aside her friendly “try to hug everything first” demeanor.

Kali:She seems to perform better after receiving some form of “affection”, so there’s that. She also managed to make Growlithe try harder lately, so she’s been adequate so far.

Percy:Wow, seems like positive reinforcements is good for Pokémon!

Kali: Sorry, I don’t try to become “besties” with my team.

Percy: No! I’m not even being sarcastic here, good for you! It’s a start!

Kali:I don’t need your approval. But is good you recognize my capabilities.

You can feel some rumbling in your backpack. Your egg who you stored in a safe and cushioned place inside seems to be about hatch!

You take the egg out of your backpack, making sure he will be facing at you, you can see the eggshell cracking. Gareth stops the buggy just to be on the safe side. A strange energy fills the inside of the egg leaking trough the cracks before the Elekid bursts out!
He’s pretty heavy. But that’s only cause he is considerably bigger than a newborn Elekid.

The little Electric type sniffles you thoroughly, he takes a good look at your face and recognizes as his surrogate parent. He stands still for a moment, looking at everyone on the buggy.
Gareth stares excitedly at the miracle of life. Eli and Kali seem curious about to your new teammate. Avenger the Trubbish says hi to the newborn and Vulpix is more concerned as to why they stopped.

[Yellow-Prince]: What’s up?

[Gareth]: Hehe, for a moment there I thought I heard him speak

[Yellow-Prince]: Yo, I’m hungry, nurse me or something.

Kali: He… he is speaking! He’s speaking English!

Eli: WHAT THE FUCK?

We gotta, the king probably wouldn't be happy if we didn't teach him his origins and legacy and whatnot.

We should also tell the guy to not speak so freely, a pokemon speaking human would no doubt call way too much attention from all the wrong people/organizations and put the spotlight on Percy

Nah, let them think whatever they want, explain the Elekid in private.

Well, it's true that is more common for the eggs to be the same species as their Mother, but if that was always the case, male only species would be extinct! Ditto's aren't particularly common. That's why there where only 12 Elekid eggs as opposed to the various Pawniard eggs at the abandoned factory.

Also, it may be for the best to keep the info on the yellow king to yourself for the moment. You don't want to trouble. Eli knows about him but she hasn't got the ful picture of their Pokémon-society.

You'll tell Elekid in private anyways. You get some food for the Electric type as he keeps voicing his hunger, you offer him some kibble and he gladly accepts.

All of your human companion looks flabbergasted. Gareth tries to touch the Elekid but he’s slapped away. He wants to eat in peace.

We go trough how Pokéballs work while he feeds and he agrees to being caught.

[Elekid]: Sure Dad, this place is too hot anyways.

[Gareth]: Hey, that’s also normal?

Eli: I don’t know, this is a first for me too.

After he gets his fill Gareth starts the buggy once again and you go to the road!

You made It too Ibarra Village in time! Everyone is just ready to stretch their legs. You let out all of your team except Elekid, whom you first need to talk in private about his “human-talking” and heritage. Eli does the same. Kali let’s out Piplup and Growlithe, the fire type growls at the little penguin but she just thinks that’s Growlithe’s way to say hello, so she imitates him.

Kali and her team go towards the local motel to rent a room for the night. Gareth goes to the Pokémon center to heal his team and “Make some bonds”!

After explaining Gareth that you are not Elekid’s biological father, and that there is no logical way that could happen. You direct yourself alongside Eli to the Capture and Defense Post. It’s pretty small comparing it to the HQ located on North Pass city, even smaller than a Pokémon center.

There are various signs warning trainers to stay away from caves at the desert and be on the lookout for aggressive Hippowdons, stating that they should refrain from engaging them in battle.

[C&D]: A pair of rookie trainers, you are here to do some pest control? Return some Trapinchs to their nest or something?

Eli: Yo, that’s amateur hour. We want some cash for these beasts!

Eli hands the tired soldier the Pokéball where the “Mother” is located, he puts in a PC over the counter, he’s face becomes one of surprise and incredulity. He asks to see your Trainer’s license.

The soldier scolds the both of you for engaging such dangerous Pokémon as Rookie trainers with only want badge. Eli dismisses him “We got the job done dude, don’t get your panties in a bunch”.

The old man sighs, the girl is right, they caught the Pokémon. He still reminds you it was a stupid and reckless thing to do, as well as explaining how the bounty system works. The C&D posts around Aztlan offer bounties and jobs to any trainer up for it. The Bounties they give info off depend on the Trainers overall accomplishments, badges, previous experience at dealing with bounties, etc. While they take badge on accounts, those are not the only unit of measurement as there are various trainers that prefer to act as bounty hunters instead of aiming for the league.

The “Mother” would usually be a bounty given to a single trainer with at least 5 badges, or a small group of various trainers with at least badges. They were planning on doing a search and raid to their nest the upcoming week, but they were waiting for reinforcements as the numbers of C&D Forces in Ibarra Village is quite low and they are mostly dedicated to guarding the place.

He’ll let you get away with it, since you captured her and survived. He’ll add this accomplishment to your “Trainer Info” so other posts open more bounties to the two of you.
>>
>>2934652
>Got: $6,000 for the 2 Hippowdons!

Eli got a paid $20,000 for the mother. The bounty would be lower, but it seems this particular specimen was being searched for some “higher-up with money”.

>New Bounties Opened up!

You could check in here tomorrow to see what jobs they can offer.

You make way to the Pokémon center, Eli is feeling pretty glad, Jaws Evolved, she got some “MAD-CASH” and her team is getting stronger, thinks are looking up for her. She wonders if she should try another bounty tomorrow or go straight to the gym.

You both go towards the center to heal your Pokémon. The place is pretty barren aside from a girl with short hair and white garments. She seems a bit older than you, Gareth looks at her from afar, he wants to approach her but he’s had some bad experience recently. Bug-Man and Sand-Rider try to give their trainer some support.

While you were walking around town you noticed some potential resting places. Where are you staying?

Also, while you walk through the stalls you see Gareth walking alongside the girl at the Pokémon center, they seem to be talking and in a good mood. The girl seems pretty serious at first, but Gareth manages to make her smile slightly while they talk.
The white garments on the girl are probably her work uniform. There’s an emblem with engraved on her clothes reading. W.V Labs

[Gareth]: Hey Percy!

The college aged guy approaches you smiling.

[Gareth]:He’s the dude that found me at the cave. Percy, this is Lydia, we met at the Pokémon center, we are going out for some dinner and some drinks. She’s stopping by here for her job.

[Gareth]: (To your ear, trying to be discreet but failing at doing so): She’s 20!

The girl finds his attempts endearing. Giggling at the doofus.

[Lydia]: It’s good to meet you Percival

Percy: Same to you!

Percy: (Discreetly at Gareth) Weren’t you broke?

[Gareth]:Oh crap, I forgot about that

[Lydia]:Don’t worry, tonight is my treat.

[Gareth]: Between meeting you and Eli on the desert, getting a new teammate, and tonight, I can say I’m a pretty lucky guy Percival.

The pair go on their own.

Can't we do this without having to share a room? The misunderstanding would be hilarious but we can just have a talk in the room before bed you know?
Anyway
>See if Gareth wants to share a room so he doesn’t sleep on the Pokémon center? [Send him a message after his date] (Doesn’t need roll, He’s down for it)
Is the only sensible choice. Asking Eli to share a room, even for shits and giggles, might permanently fuck over our current relationship if rolled poorly enough, plus it's still too soon, it's just been a full day into the journey.

You explain Elekid who his father is and the whole situation at the factory, he seems surprised, and just now is dawning onto him that talking human-language is a strange thing for Pokémon to do. He desires to meet his father one day but isn’t completely sure of this whole royalty deal. He likes to be called Prince tough, has a nice ring to it.

[Prince]: So my father, a gigantic Electivire appointed you as my guardian after you talked out a violent professional trainer out of capturing him? And he was planning this, so I could learn to talk?

Percy: Yeah, more or less

[Prince]: Cool, wait. Are you my step-dad? Adoptive-father? Guardian? Tutor?

Percy:I’m not sure about that either, just Percy is okay!

You let Prince bond with the team a little, he can talk to them without much problem, but he doesn’t seem to be able to socialize as easily as he does it with humans. Houndour presence intimidates him, Vulpix is trying to bully him as he is now the youngest and weakest of the team. Loudred tells Vulpix to stop, she seems to be protective of the little Elekid. Mimikyu is intrigued by him, watching from afar.

You also take the moment to send some texts. You tell your family you are currently at Ibarra Village where you’ll spend the night, you and your mons are doing fine! Then you tell Eli about the TM at the Market stalls.
Eli: Thanks dude! I’ll check it out later, I was scouting the gym first! See ya tomorrow weirdo.

Seems like she hasn’t gotten her room yet.

Then you invite Kali

Percy: Hey, want to come over to my room?

Kali: I know that you only want to discuss the stuff, but for some reason you still manage to make me feel uncomfortable. I’ll be there in a moment.

Also, Gareth texts you back!
(This decision will work as a tie-breaker)

[Gareth]: Hey little-man. I was wondering. Are you sure is fine for me to come over? I mean, I’m more than down to sleep in an actual bed and hang the two of us. But, won’t you like to spend it with your lady friend? I don’t wanna make assumptions, just saying. Or wait, are you into the other girl?

Percy: I don’t think the time is right to invite Eli over, I mean, we just started this journey and all

[Gareth]: Taking it slow eh? That’s good, you are young and have lot of stuff to go through. I thought you knew each other for longer since you were traveling together and all

[Gareth]: Yeah, don’t rush it. You don’t want to fall hard for her too soon, get all these ideas of a future together and then she leaves you for a guy with 7 badges, and she takes your Minun with her. Cause he shouldn’t be away from the Plusle even tough you caught them together

[Gareth]:Sorry, that’s the booze talking, I needed to get that out of my system before blurting it out to Lydia. See ya later man. We gonna dance

The blonde girl knocks on your door. You let her pass. She seems pretty uncomfortable, she sits on one a little table inside the room, you take the other seat.

Kali: This better won’t leave this room. I’m only going to speak the truth, so you better not dismiss it as “Crazy talk”

Kali: I had this, well. I still have this sibling. A girl younger than me. She was always “strange” even as a baby. When she was around 3 we started to notice that things tended to move around her, her presence unnerved the other kids and Pokémon. So, she spent most of her time alone.
Kali: My parent never payed much mind to her, they were more interested on me getting good grades, and pushing me to become the next “head” of the company. So, she was mostly raised by my grandfather, who well, is always busy catching wild critters.

Kali: A couple of years later, deceased Pokémon started to appear on our garden, quite frequently. No pet lasted for long. The little girl started to read books way too advanced for her, Pokémon anatomy and biology, she excelled at math and most school related things. So my parents shifted her focus onto her.

Kali:That’s when we noticed what she was capable of. I was searching for my Pachirisu and stumbled across it. On her room where countless of these “dolls” she made herself. She could manipulate Pokémon somehow, not like what you do. She took their will away, ripped their bodies apart, then she would try an piece them back together.

Kali:Mother was terrified, Father was ecstatic. The was last straw was when she attempted to do it on a human. Father used this as an excuse to take her to the labs and “cure her”. I haven’t seen my Father, Mother or her since then. That was around 5 years ago.

Kali: For some reason, I can still feel her on that house. On her room. Every now and then a new doll would appear. We tried to lock the place, but well, you and your Vulpix got in, so it isn’t working.

There’s a moment of silence between the two of you. You try to find the words to answer the girl.

Percy: That's tragic, Kali. God, I had no idea.
Percy: I'm... sorry? For you, and for her, that's just a real shit situation to be in. I mean I guess I kind of know what it's like, to have weird powers and be ostracized, but, not nearly that bad. My parents just made me see a shrink. Jeeze.

Kali: No, you don’t get it. She’s monster.

Kali drops her view to her the floor, she tries to keep her emotion in checks.

Kali: You, you are just a freak! A stupid freak! I don’t need your sympathy Percival! I’m stronger than you think! Better than they think! I’m better than her! I don’t want a friggin shoulder to cry on! I just don’t want you to get killed!

Percy: Hey Kali, calm down, I didn’t wanted you to take it the wrong way

Kali seems to lose control, this is a sensitive theme for her.

Kali: It’s the first time I can talk about this and it has to be you! FUCKING PERCIVAL WILLIAMS! The weird kid who eats kibble and may or may not be a Poké-fucker!
Kali:I wanted you out of this but nooo! You went and got involved with me cause “she hurts the doggie”.

Kali: And then I get the BRILLIANT idea to throw a party to assure a stupid place in the battling team and now you are tangled up in this mess!

Kali: Fuck this! Fuck you! Fuck me!

>>2935455
Percy: Is that a suggestion?

She slaps you with all her force. The girls face is a mess, her eyes are red and tears are dropping everywhere, her nose is running and she’s trembling

Kali: What the fuck is wrong with you? What even goes through your head?

Percy: … I just wanted to try and snap you of it. You were getting pretty loud, and I don’t want to get attention on ourselves.

Kali:….I really hate you Percival

For some reason, you feel like her words don’t match her tone nor her feelings. Kali goes to the bed and starts crying deeply.

The door opens. You forgot to lock it.
[Gareth]: Is this a bad time?

>Kali is more open to Percy!
>Kali had an emotional meltdown!
>Gareth is buzzed and confused!
>Percy has a hard time dealing with crying girls!

Your team hangs around with Gareth’s. Bug-man was at first scared of them but started to get along when Mimikyu and him started to talk about their trainers. Or how they call them “Master” and “Best-friend”. Houndour says something about how he dislikes “noisy-females” referring to Kali’s outburst. Kadabra is pretty intrigued on Prince abilities to speak the human language and asks him to say the same things in “poke-speak” and “human-speak” to see the differences, Prince agrees because he has trouble saying no to the older-mons.
Loudred hangs out with Sand-Rider and gives him some advice to become strong, it’s pretty simple stuff but the Trapinch listens to her, Vulpix tell him to give it up, he seems too weak to accomplish anything, Houndour’s tells her he thought the same of her at first, making Vulpix mad.

[Gareth]: Sooo, we are just gonna pretend that didn’t happened and act like it’s all normal tomorrow?

Percy: That's the idea I think. Changing the subject, how did your date go?

[Gareth]:Oh it was great! She’s an intern at White Veil labs, works under one of those fancy Pokémon professors and all! She wants to become one as well! She has her shit together.

[Gareth]:At first she was pretty serious, and seemed wary of Bug-Man, but after saving him from a Pidgeotto and she saving me from the bird we really hit it off!

[Gareth]:Had some drinks, a nice meal, and even got into a dancing contest. Seems like folks here don’t have much going on terms of entertainment. We were drunk enough to participate and got third place! I mean, there where only 4 couples counting us, but is something.

[Gareth]: We did the “Twist”!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si5RyLmJupg

[Gareth]: Got her number, maybe we’ll meet again another time

Percy: Hey, good for you man! I think you are better at dealing with girls than I am.

[Gareth]: Don’t fret kid, I just got some experience under my belt.

Percy:By the way, I wanted to ask you about your Wimpod, it’s pretty uncommon around this part of Aztlan

[Gareth]:Bug-man? Oh man! Let me tell you! You see, when I was working as a Pizza delivery-guy I got to this place, I have no idea what it was. It was like some sort of base at the outskirts of North Pass? It was packing with dudes and mons! So I get there and deliver a ton of Pizza, but the guys hadn’t enough money to pay me or give any tip. So they offered me an “Exotic Alolan Pokémon” instead, and I went for it!

[Gareth]: Those suckers, Bug-man is priceless! It’s way more valuable than those $2500 plus tip that I was asking for!

[Gareth]: But Boss didn’t think the same and fired me.

[Gareth]: But it was good! I was going through some rough times and was planning to quit anyways. Being with Bug-man really changed my outlook on things so I decided, why not take him for a journey? And here we are.

>You feel a little closer to Gareth, mostly cause the guy is pretty friendly

After talking a little bit more, Kali finally left to her room. She doesn't say anything nor acknowledges you.

You decide to get some rest, you and Gareth get each one in one of the small beds. Gareth sleeps with his team. Houndour and Loudred sleep close to one another, Mimikyu goes who knows where, Kadabra floats in a corner, Vulpix and Prince get in the bed with you.

Your bed smells faintly of perfume and is a little wet from the tears.

>It's nightmare time!

She’s been playing with the Pachirisu a lot lately.
But she never plays with you.

She promised to keep him fed and well groomed. She takes care of him.
She never does anything for you.

She looks at him with such a kind smile.
She won’t even look at your face anymore.

You tried to be friends with the Pachirisu. But he runs away every time you approach
So you “made” him your “friend”. Only yours. The girl has the boy. She doesn’t need to ask for more.

It’s easier to easier to make him move. You’ve practiced a lot with all your other “friends”
He’s so cute, his fur, his eyes, his little mouth.
His skin, his insides, his organs, his brain. They are so cute.

You have so much fun when you tear them apart. Almost as much as when you put them back together.
The color of their bodies is so much more vivid than the pictures found in books.

You aren’t doing anything bad. Father told you to study them, and what’s a better way to study?

The girl is searching for the Pachirisu, she misses him.
You feel a little guilty.
You feel even more guilty when the girl starts crying
What’s the problem? Now she doesn’t have to fed him nor groom him. They can be friends forever!
You don’t understand them

You are trying to, lately.
They boy does.
It’s so much fun to watch the boy.
Of the four of them, he’s your favorite to watch.

While the memories end, you gain some control over your mind again. You feel like if your thoughts and ideas where returning from you after someone else took them. It’s a strange uncomfortable feeling. You use this chance to try and get the attention of the invader roaming through your mind.

Percy: Hey!

[Victoria?]:……
You feel something watching over you, but you can see nothing in the darkness left by the memories.

Percy: I was hoping that you could leave Vulpix alone

[Victoria?]: I can’t she’s my window to you.

Percy: If you want someone to talk to or something you can do it with me, but don’t mess my friends. Please.

[Victoria?]:Very well… Then I have permission to enter.

You feel a sharp sting. Deep in your mind, it travels trough your entire body before returning back to the center of your brain. Something is digging deep inside. You try to scream, but your body doesn’t respond. It lodges deep inside you. It’s like if someone ripped a hole in your head. it’s small but it feels bottomless.

[Victoria?]: It’s not, it’s just very long. Our connection.

[Victoria?]: I want to see more of you

Everything goes black.

>You have established a “connection”!

This could be doable! You'll need to make your teammates agree to it first, they respect your position as a trainer but some of them may not be okay with being led by Kadabra

>>2935938
Sadly, Percy doesn't have latent Psychic powers. While he was younger he tried to learn how to bend spoons and telekinesis from Abra (now Kadabra) with no results.

>>2935732
Aleida's (revolution girl) ideology isn't the same as the one of the members of the revolutionary group. A good chunk are fighting for Pokémon like her but many others have different reasons to be in this group.

>>2935602
Percy isn't sure either. Kali opened up to him, but she doesn't seem less hostile.

>>2935635
>>2935640
>>2935660
Kali knows Pokémon are human can't breed. She was insulting your very obvious affinity for Pokémon. Her words came from her anger mostly.

Sorry for the usual spelling mistakes, errors and formatting fuckups.

I'll probably pop up tomorrow or Wednesday to write about how other characters are holding up.

Also, a question!

Would you like to play a halloween themed session two weeks from now on, the 19th?

It would feature other characters that Percy may or may-not interact with in his journey. It could last only one day and return to Percy and co. Or take the whole weekend. It would probably be on the session of the.

Your team!
>Loudred
Still adjusting to her evolution, once the initial excitement passed she realized she’s having a little bit of trouble modulating her newfound strength. Excited about being a “big-sister” wants to hug the little Elekid all day long but doesn’t want to crush him by accident. Instinctively protective of him.

>Houndour
Glad you all got out the fight with Hippowdon without much problem. Worries that your recklessness could put him and your team in peril in the future. After seeing Loudred and Kadabra evolve he’s been thinking about his own growth. Wants to make the best of his time as “Houndour” before becoming an “adult”. He doesn’t feel ready to be like his father. Doesn’t really care much about Elekid at the moment. Wondering why you surround yourself by such troublesome females.

>Mimikyu
Just as Houndour he’s worried about your actions. He doesn’t want to see you hurt. Feels like he needs to step up his game as your protector. He is intrigued by the little Prince since he reminds him of you.

>Vulpix
Enjoys bullying the little Prince, currently mad at Houndour, hopes he sees her different once she evolves. Has been feeling pretty good about herself, can’t wait to catch up to the rest of the team. Hopes this Gym is her chance to prove herself to the team.

>Kadabra
Intrigued by your human relationships. He’s suspecting something is going on with your head. Wonders if he could be a “Trainer”.

>Prince (Elekid)
Still a bit scared of your team. Feels more comfortable around humans, specially you. Has trouble not referring to you as “Pa”, “Dad”, “Pops”. Just a baby.

Others!
>Eli
Has decided to go bounty hunting tomorrow before trying her hand at the gym. Had a hearth to hearth with Tremor reminding him he’s a crucial part of her team and that the four of them are “homies for life”. Can’t believe she met her favorite Elite 4 member. Thought about asking you for her “reward” tonight but decided save it for later.
>Jaws
After evolving he didn’t wait to rub it in Tremor’s face adding fuel to the fire. Feels like he can take on the world. Gained some more respect for Avenger, since he came with the “BLOW THE FATASS GROUND TYPE WITH AN EXPLOSION TO HER DUMB HIPPO FACE” plan, just realized this is the second time the Trubbish knocks him out.

>Tremor
Feeling pretty salty since Jaws evolved and got a ridiculous boost of strength. Wants to catch up to the “Asshole sewer dweller” as fast as possible. Pretty mad at himself for dragging the others two down in the fight, he thinks he should be way better than that. Eli and Avenger noticed this, so they had a talk with the croc.

>Trubbish
Just happy that everyone was well after the fight with the Hippowdon. Glad he was able to help. Has started to draw every new Pokémon he encounters in his sketchbook an adds little descriptions of them.

>Gareth
Holds Percy in high regard, pretty happy with how things worked out. Planning to take out Bug-man and Sand-Rider to train a little tomorrow. Starting to think that maybe this journey wasn’t so bad after all. He still misses home regardless but knows he can’t go back, since he was evicted of his apartment. After seeing Kali’s meltdown, he felt glad he isn’t a teen anymore

>Kali
Trying to compose herself. Feels responsible for your situation with her sister. Still hostile at Percy. Embarrassed at herself for her outburst, doesn’t want to look at you for a while, you trouble her. Wants to take her mind out of things. Planning to go to the edge of the village to train tomorrow before challenging the Gym.

>Her team!
Piplup tried to console her trainer with some snuggling and hugs, she was rejected by Kali making her feel down. Growlithe feels weird seeing her so shaken but doesn’t feel comfortable trying to get close to her.
Haunter is still following her, played some technical jokes on Growlithe putting him on the edge. He reminisced of the past after hearing Kali’s story.

>Dick!
Traveled around the desert on his truck with Pidgey Girl [Claire] and Sporty Girl [Gwen]! Pidgey girl asked him if she could ride at the front seat with him. But he told her no, as Alexandro called “Shotgun” first. Got to Ibarra Village pretty fast and went directly to scout the ruins, he’ll be exploring them tomorrow. Sporty girl [Gwen] got him on a bad mood after asking about his brother, but the boy managed to keep himself calm and simply told her he wasn’t close to him. Thinking about Kali as always, but also wonders how you are doing.
>His team!
Alexandro showed off to the girls, they were amazed to see such a rare Pokémon and a shiny! He got another ego boost. He called them “worthy of serving him” thankfully the girls can’t understand a word he says.
Ankhati the Cacnea is glad he left the desert and found himself such a good “work” opportunity, still, he can’t help but look at the mounds of sand and feel a little nostalgic
Zoroaster the Ralts feels bitter at females of any species. Except 2D ones.

>Your sister!
Since you are out of town she snooped around a bit on your computer back home, she only found a folder filled with ASMR audios of “Relaxing Pokémon and nature sounds” You got them categorized by species and habitat. Thankfully she didn’t find your “Poké-Cosplay” folder.

His pride and childhood dreams didn't let him quit, but after that day he decided just take training as a hobby. He's still working at the same building, since he's working full time at the sales department his salary went up and he can provide better for his family.

This is the fate of many trainers.
>>
>>2939456
So things actually turned out better for him in the end, but it's going to add to our reputation as the demonic arsonist anyways. It is what it is I guess.

It sucks he didn't become the pokemon mater he wanted to be but I'm still happy for him. He's probably better off in the long run, has a respectable enough job, and can still enjoy training and sparring for fun.
>>

Now he can have his kids become the Pokemon master he never was. Forcing them into it, like most parents do if they never reach their dreams.
Or not

>As a player which do you prefer?
they are both cool

>Who's closest to Percy? Why? (Human or Mon)
Surely Loudred and Eli, Loudred being very kind and looks up to Percy, and Percy seems to be Eli's first recent friend

>What kind of music does Percy likes?
>He prefers to listen to recorded nature and Pokémon sounds.
very specific pokemon sounds. Wishes he put a mic on Mimikyu
>>
Always loved double battles loved the Mossdeep gym in gen 3

Music- Jazz or techno Jazz

Definitely loudred for the pokemon she was the only one that didn't care that we fought the mother

Hey M, on a scale of 1 to 10 how reckless was actually fighting the Mother and co?
>>
>>2939554

I have to break it down a little
Battling the Hippopotas was a 4
Engaging the Hippowdons was a 6
Going against the mother an 8

Overall a solid 6

(1 being not saving your game before a boss fight and 10 almost certain death)

If that "Earthquake" connected the only Pokémon left standing would've been a hurt Kadabra, Mimikyu and Vulpix in critical state and Tremor badly hurt.

Also you'd had to choose between getting your unconscious team members back in their Pokéballs so they won't be hurt anymore, or focus in avoiding the falling rocks from the cave collapsing (lowering your DC to avoid said falling rocks)

Then had you and Eli roll to avoid those rocks.

That Elite 4 wasn't just there as a random encounter.
But you could have ended with one or various members of your team, or yourself out of commision for a while, or badly scarred.
>>
>>2939596
Was that elite four the person that put up the extra money for mother?
>>
>>2939603
Negative
The Elite 4 would had caught her and see if she could be rehabilitated first.

The ones who put that extra money was someone else.
>>
>>2939611
Damn I kind of feel bad does the C&DF just put killer pokes down? Can we be a Pokemon rehabilitator?
>>
>>2939617

Most Pokémon are subjected to observation to see if they can be trained to become public service Pokémon, some are bought by Blackstone, and others are sent to shelters.

The most dangerous ones like "The Mother", or unruly uncooperative Pokémon like The Mankey at the shelter are usually put down if no one capacitated to take care of them steps up for them.

And yes, that's a possible career path.
>>
>>2939204
>Single battles, traditional 1v1
Don't have a preference here.
>Loudred, due to what everyone else said
>He prefers to listen to recorded nature and Pokémon sounds.

Any news on the region map?
>>
>>2939643
It's a work in progress, I got all major locations down as well as various optional towns and places of interest and whatnot.
Currently trying to find a way to fit all of it together in the best way possible to give the players a degree of freedom as to how they want to go on about their journey.
>>
>>2939204
>Double battles, teamwork is crucial
>houndour
>he likes Modern Day Ouroboros which is kinda ironic that his nickname is arsonist
>>
>>2939629
That'd be a cool path, but the end game I'm pushing for is beating the league and starting a private reserve percy fills up with all of the pokefriends he's made throughout his adventure, maybe even getting a breeder license to be even better at caring for them.....and punching his v-card....
>>
>>2939204
>Single
>Mimikyu
>Synthwave and/or Jazz IN ADDITION TO recorded nature and Pokemon sounds. Just not at the same time, yeah?
>>
Guys I have something that might work for our demonic Arsonist image:

Perish Song Exploud with Soundproof to self-null the Perish Song effects, only putting it on the opponent.
>>
>>2939880
Exploud doesn't learn Perish Song. So no.
>>
>>2939887
Aw man that's a shame. Fuck Gamefreak. I was wondering if MediocreQM would give a certain top quality romhack a try.
>>
>>2939910
I like to indulge in Romhacks from time to time, which one are you talking about?
>>
>>2939931
Pokemon Clover
>>
>>2939204
>We'll probably start next session with that, if the players are up for it.

is there some sort of drawback to teaching pokes tms?. because if pokemon can just have all their tm moves and tutor moves it gets a bit wild
>>
>>2939204
Question. What kinda legendaries show up around this area? You make up your own or we get tourists from around the world? If it's spoilers no problem, but Percy seems the type that would know all about that stuff.
>>
>>2938265
>(Everything devolved to shit-posting after that)
Then what was all that before?
>>
>>2940293
I can say that there will be no OC legendaries. There's legends, documents and papers of sights of Pokémon that could be described as legendary or mythical but there's no actual proof of their existence to the public eye.
>>
>>2940529
The standard quality of discussion at Hitmon-4-chan

The thread just got worse
>>
>>2940748
See >>2939978 for a romhack you should 100% play
>>
>>2940255
There's really no disadvantage. But TM moves are harder to master than moves that they would learn naturally. (Loudred hasn't mastered Ice Beam yet for example) The same goes for tutor moves.

Also Pokémon show a preference or have an easier time mastering certain moves. As a trainer how you command your mons in battle and how do you train them will determine this.

I previously thought about limiting Pokémon moveset to 12 moves thanks to an anon's suggestion. I'm still considering it. Will probably address it next session.

>>2940858
I'd been meaning to check it out for a while now. Probably will after I got some more free time.
