[In this world the strong survive and the weak perish, but this is a story about making the best of the worst situation. Survival of the Weakest!]

You wake up bleary eyed, and remembering your situation you poke your head out from beneath your hole. You slowly scan your surrounding with your slit-eyes, looking for any potential danger. It's just after dusk, and the darkness aids your vision greatly. You see nothing but tall grass, thick bushes, and strong trees lit up by what little moonlight is getting through the canopy.

You twitch your scaled tail in the hole nervously. Ever since your nest was destroyed you haven't been able to get a good nights sleep. Those foul adventurers destroyed everything and took no prisoners. Many brave kobolds died that night. In fact, you aren't entirely sure anyone else survived. You ended up having to flee westward into the forest to avoid detection, and not knowing where else to go, you just kept wandering. You haven't even strayed far from the nest, but you are pretty sure you heard going far enough west will lead to the ocean. It's a good a destination as any. At least there are tasty fish in the ocean and rats and crab hiding among the rocks.

Your thoughts are pulled away from food and you duck your head back slightly. Light from a fire suddenly flickers up nearby, startling you. You quietly crawl out of the hole beneath the thorn bush you dug and grab your things along with it. A fire means at least somewhat intelligent creatures. If you're lucky, it's some fool just setting up camp, which means you may be able to steal some supplies. Stealthily, you make your way towards the fire...

...You are luckier than you imagined. It's no long-legged traveler scum, it's another kobold!

In your excitement you accidentally snap a string, and a bunch of bones that were hanging in a nearby tree jangle and fall to the floor.

The Kobold stands up and looks in your direction while grabbing at her wait, but slowly starts to sit down after seeing you. That doesn't mean she has lost all suspicion however, as she continues to glare at you.

The kobold appears to be a grass green female with brownish-yellow eyes. She is leaning against a log, wearing a hood and a mantle made of a tawny furred animal. She is cooking breakfast, which appears to be a a piece of meat heated on a stick over the fire.

You don't want to appear suspicious, so you walk over and sit opposite of the fire from her. She watches you the entire time. There is a bit of a silence, so you ask the green kobold her name.

"My name is Klindi. Who are you?" She replies.

What is your name?

The kobold replies that his name is Ragnar.

"Ragnar huh? Well, nice to meet you." Klindi says, twirling her food around to cook the other side.

There is another moment of silence.

"Was your nest lost?" the green kobold asks. When Ragnar nods she continues. "Yeah, me too. Came from out east."

Ragnar says he came from out that way too.

"Yeah. There is some long-leg settlement clearing the area around their roads of everything. I guess your nest and mine were too close." Klindi says, taking a bite from her food. "So what was your job in your old nest?"

Ragnar says that he mostly did manual labor.

"Hey, I can respect that." She says chuckling.

Ragnar asks if he could have some food. He remarks that if she is worried about her provisions he could help her get more.

"Work together, huh? That's probably a good idea. Not like either of us have much else to do." She says, reaching beside her and throwing him a hunk of meat. She watches as Ragnar looks around, and reaching behind him finds a suitable stick. As he's preparing to start his barbeque she starts to say. "So just lugging stuff around and digging holes, or did you have other responsibilities?"

Ragnar replies that he's picked his share of locks.

"Fair enough. Never much liked going near stilt-legs or their settlements, but they do have some nice stuff to take sometimes."

[A lizard larsonist is at large! Ragnar was a thief for his previous nest!]

Ragnar asks what she did at her previous nest.

"I hunted and foraged for food. Thought you'd be able to tell with the clothes and all. Made them myself!" She says proudly. "I'm a pretty good shot with a crossbow, but never mind that. Tell me about that thing on your back."

Ragnar pulls his attention from the look and smell of the cooking meat. Burying his stick in the ground, he starts to undo the bindings holding a rather large, glowing egg to his back. It was scaly with a hard leathery texture, and though it glowed with heat in much the same way a charred wood log did, it didn't burn as bright. It was certainly warmer than him, but not uncomfortably so.

Ragnar unstraps it and shows it off. The male kobold tells how once he saw his nest starting to fail he went to the nursery to try and rescue some eggs. Figuring the biggest one would have the biggest kobold, he took this egg.

"Well, I never claimed to work in the nurseries, but I'm pretty sure that thing isn't a kobold egg." Klindi says slowly.

Ragnar asks what she thinks it is then.

"Don't ask me. Not a kobold egg I know for sure." She says. Finishing her meal and standing up. "Finish that up quick. This fire is nice for keeping some of the mid-sized predators away, but the bigger ones that wake up later will be drawn to it."

Ragnar asks if she has a plan of what to do next.

"I was just going to wander around more, hoping I stumble across someone of our kind who still has a nest." She starts to kick over her shelter to disassemble it, and then continues. "I mean, I have another idea if you are up for it."

Ragnar asks what her suggestion is.

"Well..." Klindi says, gathering up her things. She appears to have a crossbow and a set of bolts, a dagger, a bedroll, a tinderbox, rations, and a water skin. "Have you ever tried to get into a new nest?"

"It sucks." She says as Ragnar shakes his head. "You start at the bottom doing the boring stuff until you can convince or trick someone to let you do the job you want to do. This last nest was actually my third, and I'd only been a hunter there for a week or so."

Klindi huffs a bit at this, angrily storing her items away before finishing. "Anyway, you are a male kobold. I am a female one. That's all we really need to start a nest. Heck, we even have an egg already! What do you think? If not, I'm sure we could find a nest and try to fit in."

Ragnar thinks on it, and as she gets the rest of her stuff packed up she says, "Well, I guess you don't have to answer right away. I would like to know as soon as possible though. Oh, also got anything useful on you for our survival? About all I can tell is that you like to carry around giant eggs."

Ragnar comments that he wasn't able to grab much as he was fleeing. He has his own tinderbox, bedroll, and waterskin, and knife. In addition he has a torch he managed to pick up, as well as a strong twenty feet of rope. He wasn't even really able to grab any food before he left.

>>
>>3377034>>3376651

Good point. If our hunter is out of commission due to bearing eggs, or having to defend the eggs, that could make resource gathering a bit more difficult.

Therefore, we should DEF make a nest nearby to a stable food source, such as a small, remote human settlement, or a forest with fruit trees/small game (like rabbits, mice), or a pond/lake where we can fish.

The red kobold compliments Klindi's hat.

"Thanks. I worked hard on it." She says proudly, rearranging it on her head with a smug look.

Ragnar says that he'd happily start a new nest, assuming she was okay with having his offspring.

"Well, I've certainly seen worse kobolds to have eggs with." She says with a shrug and a smile, pulling her backpack up. "I suppose we could just dig down from here if you want."

Ragnar says he wants to get farther away from adventurers if possible before starting up a nest.

"That's pretty good thinking. And hey, if we are lucky we might be able to find a nice unoccupied cave to give us a start. Anything in particular we should look for in a nest? Ideally somewhere we won't be found easy." She says, throwing dirt onto the fire to put it out as Ragnar finishes up his breakfast. "Anyway let's get going. We only got so much we are wastin' moonlight."

They start to walk, and Ragnar jokes that he was once a thief, so maybe they could steal a human house.

"Heh, I wish. Those long-legs would have a fit if we did anything like that though." Klindi says with a laugh.

The subject soon turns back to the egg on Ragnar's back, and they wonder what it could be.

"Hey, maybe it's a dragon?" The green kobold suggests. Ragnar acts startled at this and asks if she thinks it really is one.

"I dunno, I've never seen a dragon egg before. But could you imagine if our nest had it's very own dragon? We wouldn't need to build one, everyone would just come to us!" She says, looking at the egg again wantingly. "I doubt we are that lucky though. You really don't know what it is?"

Ragnar says he has no idea why the egg was in his nest. He never actually spent much time around his nest as he was out so much gathering stolen good.

"That's a shame. Maybe once our nest gets bigger we can figure out where it came from. And heck, if times get tough we could even eat it!" She says, licking around her mouth with her tongue.

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3377224
Clutch at the egg with a look of shock, we can't eat Eggbert! Maybe if we're like on the point of absolute starvation, but we can't eat Eggbert!

>>3377057

Ragnar holds the egg protectively away from Klindi, and says that they won't eat the egg. Anyway, if she's as good a hunter as she claims they won't run low on food.

"Calm down, it was just a joke." the other kobold says grinning. "But you are correct, I should be able to find enough food for us both once we find a place to settle down."

The male kobold asks if she is familiar with this region at all.

"Nope. This is the farthest I've been from my nest's hunting grounds. I had a map back there one of the other hunters made, but it didn't extend this far out. If I had to guess, we are probably somewhere right in the middle of the forest. Way east is a road and a settlement, and far to the north there is another road I think. Past that is a big mountain, like a really big one. As for the west, it's the sea like you mentioned." Klindi says thinking. "I'm actually not sure what's too the south. I think it might be more forest and the ocean again."

Ragnar says that they should probably look for a cave, hopefully concealed with a copse of leafy trees. If they were fruit trees that might be better."

"Hrm, true. And if there are fruit trees nearby we might be able to get some easier prey as meat." She says, thoughtfully. "I'm not sure how many caves we'll find though. This area is relatively flat. We may be able to find a hole or something."

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3378021
Let's head southwest, going westward to get away from the settlement and thus the long legs while south has the chance of giving us some better terrain. Keep an eye out for a good hidey hole along the way.
>>
>>3378021
The two kobolds search for a cave
>>
>>3378021
the mountain. let's head that way.
>>
>>3378021
Ocean means fish, forest means fruit, settlement means death. I kinda wanna go for the mountain. Planning in advance here, but a mountain cave would be more defendable. And the thing Klindi and Ragnar have had in common is their nests not being well defended enough. Good resourcres doesn't mean much when you are forced to leave yet again or be killed.
>>
>>3378107
The mountain does sound nice for cave possibilities but I'm concerned that,

> Strong beasts may live in/near a big mountain
> It's pretty far away, she described the road as far and then the mountain beyond that
>>
>>3378021
mountains sound good, likely lots of caves and high ground
>>
>>3378021
>We may be able to find a hole or something.

Sounds exciting...

>>3378107
>>3378126
Both good points here. Hmm...
>>
>>3378021
We could get lots of food near the ocean but it'd make it impossible to escape that way if we get found again, I think we should go to the mountain even if we don't stay there we might be able to spot a place we do like when we're on it. Problem is if there's no trees we might get spotted too easily.
Wherever we stop we'll need water somewhere closeish to it.
>>
>>3378021
I second going south west.
>>
>>3378021
how about the north west?
>>
>>3378021
Mountain is pretty far away, and there's no telling how hard living there would be.
The land here is easier to dig and we can shape the nest how we like it, and making those escape tunnels just in case.

I'd say we head west, and settle down somewhere between road and sea. Small hill, trees or some thorn bushes would make hiding and defending our nest easier.
>>
>>3380251
We can also always consider the mountain for a home in the future once we've scouted it out. Not like we have to settle down forever in wherever our first nest happens to be.
>>
>>3380300
I second this statement.
>>
>>3380251
Oh wow, yea that sounds really nice actually. Throwing my vote in for this.
>>3380300
While that's true, moving after we have a bunch of eggs and kids to keep track of could be rather difficult. Unless we just abandon any that can't or won't keep up in a sort of survival of the fittest sort of way.
>>
>>3381029
Hmm that's true when it comes to young 'uns. Maybe once the first clutch is a bit grown. 'Bolds mature pretty quickly I think?
>>
>>3381034
I think they're pretty much able to do things on their own as soon as they hatch as they are lizards, not that they'd be that much use though because they'd be small and unskilled in everything.
No idea how long it's take them to hatch though.
>>
>>3380251
I'm not going to lie the idea of digging a nest in some thorn bushes is both very appealing and smart, almost everyone would avoid them if at all possible and even if a beast of some kind tried to get in it might get stuck in the thorns. Plus with our scales the thorns shouldn't bother us too much.
There is only two things we need, some way to protect our eyes from the thorns and to make sure the thorn bushes we choose isn't too close to a human settlement or a settlement from anyone else for that matter.

[Also, forgot to mention Mondays there probably won't be updates, as I'm usually busy the entire day.]

Deciding to pause for a second, they climb a nearby tree to avoid detection while deciding what to do next. The conversation starts with weighing the possible directions they could go.

Ragnar remarks that if they go southwest or west, they will be farther from stilt-legs settlements and they should be safer. It'd be nice to get resources from settlements, but if they are being this violent towards kobolds it may be best to stay as far away as possible.

Klindi sits thoughtfully for a second and then says. "Exposure would be very unlikely, which is nice.. From a hunter's perspective though, the deeper you get into a forest the more dangerous both the predators and prey get. That's about the only nice thing about those long-legs. If they spot anything really dangerous they'll throw themselves at it until it's destroyed."

The scar-faced kobold then laughs, but then quickly quiets herself and continues. "Sorry, just remembered a funny story. Anyway, what do you think about the ocean? You ever seen one?" The other kobold says, looking to Ragnar. After he shakes his head she replies. "I mean I've heard fishing is pretty easy, so maybe hunting around there wouldn't be so bad. It almost seems too easy you know? Sitting on a boat and pulling up meat on a string. I'm up for it, but it might be difficult if we don't know what we are getting into."

Ragnar asks what she thinks of the mountain, even though it's pretty far away.

"A mountain would have ore for if we ever run into anyone we would want to trade with. They have good vantages points for defense too. I mean I think I've heard the one to the north is the biggest in the region. Here, one sec... Let's see..." Klindi then stands up and begins to climb the tree. She steps onto the thinning branches until she can poke her head out and then says. "Maybe it's that one over there?"

Ragnar follows her. It's a bit disheartening to see that in every direction it's just more trees. No sign of ocean anywhere. The peak is visible though, way off in the distance. It juts up rather harshly from the surrounding area, there doesn't appear much in the way of vegetation on it. Not even snow.

The red kobold asks how hunting around a mountain might be, and what she thinks of the safety.

"I'm not sure really. I've never lived around a place like that. We could always put a nest or an exit near the base of the mountain if we wanted to hunt near in the forest. The most concerning thing I've heard though is that lot's of tough and not so tough creatures like to live there... Giants, goblins, dwarves... You know, that sort of thing."

I'll be honest I don't really mind where we go too much, nothing seems like an entirely bad option.
That being said I did vote for setting up near the road and forest.
I kind of think we should stay semi near the humans do we can steal from them, and being on the road might let us steal from merchants without them noticing for a while.

Be that as it may, we still need people (not strictly humans) around to apply our skills as a thief. I probably would have said something to that affect during character creation but unfortunately I wasn't here for that.

Ultimately, the decide on going towards the Ocean and plot their way westward. The female kobold hopes that if they move briskly they can be near the water in a week. Klindi and Ragnar walk dusk until near dawn, and can only speak periodically through their travel as the hunter constantly tells her companion to hide or keep quiet as they walk to avoid detection. Ragnar has to admit that he is surprised how quiet and unnerving the forest is. Spending most of his time either in a settlement or in his nest this whole situation is rather foreign to him.

The red kobold asks if she knows how to craft makeshift weapons for when hers break out in the field.

"Out of things like bone and stone yeah. Those kind of things break pretty easy and need to be sharpened pretty often though, so it's best to just use a nice metal one. Unfortunately, I have no smithing knowledge."

Ragnar asks how goblins and dwarves of the mountains treat kobolds. He has seen dwarves before from the settlement he stole from, and he can't say he is too fond of the race. They always had nice things, but they were the most secretive of their treasure, and many times they had alarms or traps of their own around their valuables.

"Dwarves of the mountains are worse. At my last nest there was a kobold from some mountains to the east and he would talk about it all the time. Those disgusting bearded creatures like to dig and mine too, and most are smart enough to know if they see one Kobold, there are probably a dozen or more around somewhere and they are pretty good at tracking us down. Also, unlike stilt-legs they are used to fighting in tunnels and enclosed spaces, and they usually have good knowledge of architecture and stonework so it's hard to lead them into traps." She says, hopping over a large tree root. "Goblins are stupider than dwarves, but not stupid. Cunning I think would be the correct word. They also much more aggressive and violent. They also breed like crazy, even faster than we do."

Ragnar asks if they are worse than gnomes.

"NOTHING is worse than gnomes." Klindi growls angrily and calling some insults under her breath. "Can't stand those shriveled, potato headed humanoid scum."

Ragnar agrees smiling. He always did his best to steal from the gnome couple at the settlement he used to rob. He would have gladly slit their throats for just existing, but that might draw attention. They probably had the most annoying ways of guarding their treasure as well. The gnomes liked to use strange illusion magics. Ragnar always hated those types of enchantments. It's like trapping something but taking the easy way out. Not that he expected anything less from gnomes.

Ragnar asks about her gnome stories.

"They act weird, they look weird, they are weird. What more do I need?" She says.

They laugh, and Ragnar says making some weapons may be a good idea. They'll probably need them. He says he has his knife and she has her crossbow and her knife, but they won't last forever.

"Yeah, we'll throw that on all the things we'll need to do for a new nest." She says, chuckling. "I'm just worried about finding a safe place to stay for now."

---

The pair continue their journey, and it ends up taking only two more days than the huntress guessed. The salty air reaches their nostrils first, then they see the treeline start to thin and more of the moonlight meet their faces.

They nearly run right off a cliff in excitement. They look around, whooping in excitement. They then collect themselves and scan to the horizon in every direction. The entirety of west is water, not much for them at the moment. The north and south however are small blades of rocky cliffside striking out into the ocean, beneath which is graded shoreline.

Klindi points out a cave at the base of cliff opposite them. "Think we should check that out? Might be a good place to set up shop if it's empty. If not, I suppose we could keep looking around, I'm not even sure we have a safe way down."

Klindi and Ragnar make attempts to find a way down to the cave. They end up having to walk north a bit to find what appears to be an old, large landslide that is starting to be reclaimed by small bushes and thin trees. The walk down the slope and loop back around, walking along the shore. The breeze is pleasant, as is the bright moonlight reflecting off the waves.

When they round the bend and sneak their way closer to the cave. Upon closer inspection they spot something that is both delicious looking as well as a bit terrifying.

There are swarms of crabs walking around the cave. They are so thick in some places that it looks like a skittering reddish-brown carpet. Around these are two larger crabs. They are probably twice the size of the kobolds, and even from the distance the two kobolds stand they can hear the snapping of their large claws and the clicking of their legs as they walk around the sand and beach grass. Hopefully that's all that was staying in that cave.

Ragnar asks if she thinks the pair of them could take those giant crabs for dinner.

"Not sure. I definitely wouldn't want to get close to their claws. I could use my crossbow, but we only have so many bolts and I'm not sure how easy it'll be to make more. That, and I'm not sure where to shoot a crab to kill it quickly." Klindi says, looking to the four foot tall crustaceans.

Ragnar watches the creatures graze, and asks if it would be easier to just get some of the smaller ones. He doubts they'd be able to eat the entirety of the large ones anyway.

"Maybe you could distract the big guys with something." the female kobold remarks.

The kobolds leave their packs around the corner, and then creep up to the area of the cave. Klindi splits off to get as close to the crab swarm as possible while Ragnar walks parallel to the shoreline, and grabbing up some rocks he starts chucking them around. One of the giant crabs goes to investigate, and while it does Ragnar looks back to check Klindi's progress.

The green kobold is already running back while holding something. The swarm of crustaceans snaps and scuttles after her attempting to take pursuit, but they are far to slow. Ragnar starts to dart away as well. but the giant crabs see him. They raise to their full height high on their multiple legs and and hold their claws as far forward as possible, snapping at him as they give chase. The red kobold is a bit scared to see that the things are quite fast, and were it not for the giant crabs breaking off to keep the rest of the swarm safe he has no doubts that he would have had a difficult time losing them.

"Yikes, speedy suckers aren't they?" Klindi says as Ragnar comes around the corner. She is still holding onto the crabs, one in each claw. The way they are flailing makes it think that if she let them go they might try to pinch or escape.

Ragnar asks if she knows how to prepare them.

"Hrm, well the river near my nest had some freshwater crabs, but I never really paid attention how they were prepared. I know we can eat them raw though." Klindi asks.

The pair decide to try to cook one and eat the other raw. It's actually quite good, but they decide to attempt to cook the other crab just to see if they can. At first they attempted to use some of the nearby driftwood to start a fire, but it was too wet. The pair end up walking back to the landslide area and using some fuel there to make a fire. Burning coals, a nice flat stone, and a knife between the crabs eyes is enough to get their cookout started, and about ten minutes later they are eating the smoky, delicious seafood.

"Welp, the cave was a bust as a nest, but at least it has some good eats." Klindi says, sucking the last bits of the crab juices off her claws at the end of the meal. "So what now? Even if don't find a good nest place, it might be a good idea to at least find some shelter. It's going to be dawn soon."

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3384712
So we can eat them, and use their shells for makeshift armor, and their claws for weapons. This is like the holy grail of a starting base! Well, cept for them being in the cave we want. And if we evict them we risk losing them as a source of material. Also we've been traveling for 9 days on just Klindi's food, maybe now is the time to maek sure we actually like the taste of crab!
Throwing rocks for something big and shelled probably isn't a smart way to hunt them though. We should bat them and then make sure we knife into their soft bits. We can ask Klindi for more advice on hunting them if we're forgetting something.
>>
>>3385452
Yeah let's look for some shelter, perhaps a prickly bush like an anon was saying earlier or a particularly close handful of trees? Maybe we can build a simple Lean To shelter.

Ragnar and Klindi search around the old landslide area the a good place to set up camp for the morning. They get the idea of building a shelter like the one Klindi had before, or perhaps a sort of lean-to, however the trees and branches in the landslide area are far to thin to make effective cover, so they instead do what Ragnar originally did and find a nice thicket of thorny bushes that they can rest in when they plan to sleep.

The excitement of finally reaching the ocean hasn't left them, and still having a bit of time before dawn they decide to sit and watch the ocean for a while. The sound of the waves are calming, and the way they crash into each other and the beach is rather hypnotic.

Ragnar asks if she thinks they could make weapons and armor out of the crabs.

"Well based on the small ones we've seen probably not. The big ones might have tougher shells though, so it might work. We'd probably need more than just the two that are there to make anything like armor." the green kobold says, thinking. "It would look pretty cool though when it was finished."

Ragnar asks if she thinks finding or digging a cave around here would be good.

"Well, that's what I wanted to do originally, but walking around here I've noticed that even at the surface a lot of the soil is wet. That probably means if we try to dig anything we'll just end up with claws soaked with wet sand and dirt as well as water-logged caves. Perhaps we could find a place higher up on the cliffs, or maybe we could build up top." Klindi says, pointing up the slope.

Ragnar says that's not a bad idea. This would be a nice place to settle since they have a food source that they could use for a while. Who knows, maybe that cave has more inside!

The red kobold asks Klindi if she is any good at digging tunnels.

"I'm probably a second pair of claws at best. I don't have much experience in planning that kind of thing myself. I'm not even sure how to make those sort of tools for tunnels. I suppose a shovel would be easy, but if we start hitting rock we may be in trouble without picks." Klindi says, frowning.

What does Ragnar do?

I'll see what I can do about getting a couple of each of those, I wanted to see if there was any settlements around here anyway.

Hmm yeah digging down near the coast won't work out well. The trees are thin too so that seems worrisome on overall cover.

Let's settle down in a thicket of bushes for some sleep we can at least dig out a small put under the bush for some room. Then once we've rested let's look for a hill on top of the slope worth digging into if possible. We should also keep an eye out for tracks of humans or other things in this area.

Ragnar asks how good she thinks she is at digging on a scale of 1-10.

"What? I dunno, a five? What about you?"

Ragnar says the same.

The red kobold says he'll definitely try to find some of those things. He asks if she thinks there could be any settlements nearby where they might obtain some tools quicker.

"Hmm... I didn't see any obvious signs of habitation on the way here. We are pretty far into the forest, so maybe a logging camp? We are on the shoreline though, if we walk along it I'm sure we'll run into a something. Maybe a fishing village even." She says, shrugging.

They make their way into the thicket, and go off to bed.

---

The next night they explore the general area right around the old landslide. Systematically walking around the forested upper area looking for a hill that might have a cave.

There isn't much in the way of sloped areas. Only about three or four hills. On one of these there are the same thorny bushes they slept in leading up, and near the top they spot a small depression that could be described as cave shaped. It's still pretty earthy up here, so they may be able to dig a bit. It won't be super roomy unless they go deep, but for now it's a place to start.

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3387626
That sounsd like as good a place as any! But before we get our claws dirty, I think Ragnar should go looking for stilt-leg settlements. Both to yoink some tools and to let Klindi know which directions to be careful of. If we run into a fishing village, nets would be an amazing thing to nab to help with our own food gathering, or even as a trap on the land. So let's tell her we're following the ocean to scout out more. And ask her to look after our egg whilst we're gone.
>>
>>3387626
How many kobolds do you think this place will hold at most?

Also, have we made sure to scout out all available sources of food such as berries, wild veggies, mushrooms and small game? Do we have an idea of the resources available at our disposal?

We know we have crabs, and likely some lumber. Stone is a given. What else am I missing?

Ragnar says this seems like a good enough place as any to make a nest. He says he wants to walk along the shore to find a stilt-leg settlement, so if she wants to start digging she can.

"What? Shouldn't I be the one exploring?" Klindi says, glaring. "I'm the survivalist here."

Ragnar thinks on it a second, and then admits she's probably right. He is quick to say that if she finds one that she should tell him instead of trying to steal anything herself.

"Well duh, I'm not dumb." the female kobold says with a huff.

Ragnar asks how many she thinks this place will hold.

"I dunno, depends on how much we dig. These top layers probably won't hold a bunch bug when we get below ground level we can make it as big as we want!" Klindi says grinning.

Ragnar says to make sure she scouts out all the resources they have nearby, and asks what she has seen so far.

"Well, the crabs of course. We have plenty of stone as well, and lumber won't be hard to come by though we probably shouldn't cut down anything too near our nest." she say thinking. "The forest is a bouty of food, but it all depends on how much we forage."

Ragnar asks what sort of view she thinks they could get from the top of the hill.

"A pretty good one, at least if you like looking at water and the tops of trees." She says shrugging. "I suppose if we get boats and stuff we'll be able to keep an eye on them."

Klindi says she wants to see what she can find, and Ragnar says he'll start digging. She walks away and Ragnar looks at the hole that has been started.

He imagines he'll have to dig down to start if he wants the first room to be decently sized. At the level he is at now he thinks he may be able to get a 15x15 room out, and that's hoping he doesn't drop the hole top of the hill on himself.

Ragnar puts the egg down in a place he can keep track of it and then begins to dig.

He doesn't have a ton of experience planning tunnels himself as he usually just followed orders. The red kobold dug out where he was supposed to and braced tunnels where he was told. However, he thinks he did an alright job all things considered.

Around the door he puts a little raised dirt so rain can't get in, and then digs a slope down a bit so he has more room to expand. He knows this room probably won't be permanent, but he wants enough room to hold at least a few more kobolds besides himself and Klindi.

After about five feet of decline he starts to dig out a room, moving the egg inside to make sure it's safe. For now the tunnel is only wide enough for the kobolds to crawl though, but in his old nest the entrance had to be wider since they would bring things through it like building materials and such. For now though he thinks a small entrance will do. Plus he isn't sure how much he can widen everything without causing the his work to collapse.

The whole thing takes a few hours. He realizes he actually doesn't have any food on him, but he isn't sure he should wander around. Maybe if he is lucky, Klindi will return from her exploration with some food.

Ragnar picks up his egg again and decides to go gather materials. For sure he wants some lumber or tinder, and hopefully he can find something they can use as bedding. They have their bedrolls, but some soft things might be nice to put on the ground.

There is plenty of moss and grass around. He knows the grass will be pretty comfortable when it's dried, but he thinks the moss will be pretty prickly when it dries out. Maybe he can transplate some into the cave to have a nice living bed.

There doesn't appear to be much in the way of lumber just lying around, at least lumber that could be more useful for anything other than firewood. He gets another idea, and approaching a larger deadfall tree he checks for bugs.

The kobold peels off some of the dry bark and cracks the log a bit. This causes some fat grubs to flee, and he pops a few into his mouth.

Mmm, juicy with a nice crunch. As he eats a few more, he wonders if he should head back now. He isn't sure when Klindi will return after all, and it's getting close to daybreak.

Ragnar gathers up some bugs. He doesn't really have anything to put them in at the moment, but he carries some back to the cave and puts them down.

He watches them crawl around, and before it gets too early Klindi returns.

"A little small, but not a bad start." The kobold says, and then taking one of the bugs Ragnar offered says. "Thanks."

She sits down and drops two squirrels. After eating a few more bugs she says, "Hey, I saw a fishing camp up north. It's just a bunch of tents, so I'm sure they'll have to head back to a settlement at some point. Maybe you can figure out where they are going?"

Ragnar asks how far away this camp is.

"Well I saw it from kind of far away. If I had to guess it would take about half the night to get there." She replies. "Oh hey, you got firewood too."

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3393839
Any places near it we could safely camp out?
>>
>>3393839
Yea, I was looking for wood to make the nest stronger but I didn't find any that were useful for anything other then firewood. You'll have to show me those tents tomorrow, maybe I could get an axe too.
>>
>>3393918
She didn't get that close to it, and why would we want to camp near it?
>>
>>3393926
Incase it take to long to come all the way back here. I didn't mean right next to the camp, but somewhere in the area if we need it.
>>
>>3393919
Seeing if we could steal some tools from them sounds like a good plan. Especially if we can get something with metal in it.

>>3393839
Ragnar tells Klindi he will attempt to sneak up on the camp under the cover of darkness once the night comes again and see if there's anything worth pilfering especially tools or the location of their settlement can be found.

He also asks if she thinks she could fashion a simple axe or cleaver from some sharp rocks while noting he'd like to chop out some supports for the burrow.

Ragnar asks if there is any place nearby she thinks he could camp out.

"I dunno, I just saw it from a distance. You are the thief though right? I'm sure you could figure it out." She says dismissively, chomping down another bug.

The red kobold says he tried to find some larger wood so he could brace the cave but couldn't. If there is an axe there he might grab one, along with any other tools. He asks if there is anything else he should grab.

"Hrm... Well, I'm not sure you could carry much more than a stilt-leg axe. We don't have very big packs, and almost no storage. I suppose if you find a barrel or a box, or a large sack, that might be helpful. Oh! Also if you find any non-perishable food that would help too." Klindi says, thinking.

Ragnar asks if she can fashion a simple axe or something similar he could use.

"I could using the rocks from the beach, but it would break easily and need to be sharpened a lot." She says, shrugging.

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3396104
Since they're a fishing camp, maybe we can grab a net
>>

>>
>>3396104
A barrel would be better then a box, then at least I could roll it back easily. We'll have to see what I can find tomorrow but at least we have a general list of things to look for.
We should probably get to sleep as soon so we have as much time to get to that village as possible. Are you going to cook those squirrels?

Yeah but its fishing camp. So they should be out while its daytime.

Klindi and Ragnar chat a bit more about her day whie she cooks the squirrels. There isn't good ventilation in the cave, so they have to make it at the entrance.

The green kobold's walk was apparently quite pleasant.

"Yeah, it's pretty safe and you shouldn't get lost since you are following the coastline." She says.

Ragnar asks if it was easy finding this hill again.

"Sort of. It's not like this is the only landslide in the area, but it's by far the biggest so it's hard not to notice." Klindi says with a shrug.

The red kobold asks if she saw any other caves on the way up.

"Yup. Didn't check any of them out though. Too dangerous by myself."

They eat dinner, and then return back into the beginnings of their nest.

"Hey, if you find a door maybe you could steal that as well." The female kobold chuckles as they feel a draft from the entrance. They use some of the sticks, moss, and leaves to plug the entrance, and then sleep.

---

Ragnar sets off at dusk, wanting to reach the fishing camp before it gets too early. Klindi says it was a safe trip, but just in case he keeps out of sight the best he can.

True to her word, Ragnar spots the camp from atop one of the cliffs after about 6-7 hours. They are camped up just above the tide-level on some beach grass in a cove with a rather gentle slope into the water..

The camp is made up of three tents circling a campfire. The fire is unlit, so Ragnar assumes they are all asleep. Unfortunate. He would have liked to find out how many stilt-legs might be there. Other than that there are two boats secured near the sand, some boxes at the north side of the camp, and what Ragnar thinks are drying racks just southeast of the tents.

Ragnar looks at the drying racks in thought. The settlement he stole from before was near a lake or a sea or something, so had a lot of these things lying around. He wasn't sure how drying fish worked, though he knew his nest would do it on ocassion despite not being too close to a water source themselves.

Since he was starting his own nest, perhaps he should grab some of these himself, or at least figure out how they are made and how they work.

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3396812
Lets get a closer look and examine things rather than steeling them since we can only carry so much.
>>
>>3396812
Sneak in closer and have a look around for some tools.
>>
>>3396812
I propose sneaking up from the SE of the camp, listening for the sounds of snoring and confirming none are on watch. If that all looks good examine the drying racks like >>3396895
said, they'd be too heavy to carry I think.

After that do a wide circle around the camp to approach from the north and then investigate the crate contents stealthily.
>>
>>3396812
To add to this >>3396936(me) because I have more time now.

Sneak closer and try to see what's in those crates, we can check out the drying racks next but if we don't find some tools we'll never be able to build our own, (stealing a rack would still be an option but we probably wouldn't be able to drag more then one back to our best at a time.)
>>
>>3396812
In order of importance I think we should look for a barrel, then an axe, then a shovel, then a net or fishing spear. And if we find a barrel with stuff in it, dump that out so we can get up to 2 of each tool. It's gonna hurt if we dump a barrel of food onto the ground, but food itself is far less important than getting the tools to get our own food.

We probably leveled up our carrying skill from hauling that egg everywhere, I bet we're gonna get a good amount from here.

Ragnar sneaks closer to check out the camp. He hears snores and the occasional coughing from the tents, and assumes everyone is asleep. He watches the fire pit as he walks by, and notices some shuffling even though there isn't a fire. Since he came from the south, he decides to check the drying racks first.

Their construction is actually rather simple. So simple he wonders how the thing even manages to work. There aren't any fish currently tied to it so he can't tell what else they do to make it work. Is there any more to it than just hanging them up?

He wants to check the crates and barrels to the north, but with a guy next to the fire pit there might be a bit of a problem. He wonders why the guy there doesn't have a fire going. Don't most stilt-legs need light?

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3399806
Maybe we're not the only thief.

The kobold eyes the nails in the tents. They are a bit bigger than ones he has seen, but nails are rather useful objects for construction. Maybe he'll try to take them later.

Ragnar begins to wonder if the person near the fire pit is another thief. He hides behind the tent, trying to sense what sort of activity the person is doing on just noise alone. After a few moments Ragnar notices that they seem to be shuffling around they aren't moving much, and decides to try to sneak closer.

He peeks around the tent, and sees that whoever it is is facing towards the trees, so goes around the tent and behind the boats on the shore to get a better look.

Ragnar recognizes a female stilt-legged with knife-like ears and an annoyingly serene grace sitting on a log near the fire pit. She is wearing a rather utilitarian outfit which is contrasted to the decorative branches and beads in her hair and the war paint on her face. Beside this woman he can see a bow, and the kobold also notices a quiver belted to her side. This stilt-leg is probably keeping watch, as she keeps looking around in the trees, fidgeting around annoyed, and then repeats the process.

Ragnar thinks he remembers hearing that these kinds can see in the dark, so maybe that's why there is no fire. The crates are behind her, but if he makes noise the creature on the log will almost certainly hear them.

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3401387
An ax! We need to make a distraction to make her look away from our prize, but we must make sure we steal everything else we're going to take with us before we go after that. Anything of note among the crates or in the boats?
>>
>>3401387
Anything else behind her?
>>
>>3401387
Begin dancing over to her. Tell her "this is a dream" and then take the axe and run.
>>
>>3401387
>>3401398
We probably risk alerting her if we try to see what's in the crates at this stage. We should definitely check inside the boat on the off-chance something is in it though.

We have a tinderbox to work with. We could try to sneak back into the forest and set up a distraction, to give us time to get back into position for thievery I suggest we try to set up some sort of delayed burn to a campfire, maybe with a big log for the fire to work through before it gets to the main tinder or simply a long line of fuel before it gets to the campfire. Of course we want to adequately clear things out so we don't start a forest fire but have it make enough smoke to lead her away to investigate.
>>
Do we know any Cantrips?
>>
>>3401387
Go to the woods (not the the direction that would lead to our nest) and use our horns to make big scratches in the bark, make more and more head farther into the woods quite a ways along with digging fake footsteps of a bigger monster the us (we're not a monster though) then go back to the camp, stand near the first tree marking and fake footsteps then make a loudish roaring or growling noise just loud enough for the stilt leg keeping watch to hear but hopefully not wake up the sleeping ones. Then hide as best we can and hope she follows the wild goose chase we set up.
>>
>>3401612
>>3401456
Either of those is fine with me, whatever Ragnar assumes to be more viable I guess.
>>
>>3401387
if she is the only person there could we circle around and take stuff without being in her view?
>>
>>3401676
Do you want to risk getting shot by her though? She seems alert and competent enough that I doubt we could take stuff from the crates without a chance of detection. We also can't get the axe in front of her if we leave her where she is.

Ragnar spots an axe near the elf sticking out of a pile of wood. It's just what he wanted, but there is no way he can get that without the guard seeing.

He bets he could grab it and run, but then he would be spotted, and if she knows what a kobold is she'll almost certainly know that their might be more around somewhere. Ragnar would hate if the nest was discovered before it really even began.

The red kobold thinks he should withdraw, but first he checks the boat he is hiding behind. It's empty, as is the one next to him. Hpmh. They must be storing their fishing equipment somewhere.

Ragnar walks around the long way until he is across the camp from the elf while in the treeline. He doesn't want to test how close he could get, so he tries to think of a way to maybe distract her.

He tosses around the idea of starting a fire, or perhaps making a bunch of loud noises while leaving behind fake foot prints and stripping bark from trees to make it look like something big came by and scraped it. Perhaps something else though?

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3401824
It'd be funny if we can steal her bow from right next to her and than distract her.
>>
>>3401824
Walk along the coast a little more until you're really far from them, then dig a hole in the sand, maybe a foot deep, and fill it again, making the digging site obvious with lots of upturned sand. Then start a small fire next to it. Leave some fake stilt-leg tracks leading in the opposite direction of the enemy camp and the illusion will be complete.

Any big banging would just make the elf more wary and stay by the camp, but something obviously artificial might just get her curious enough to leave.

When she gets up, go through the forest past her. The upturned sand and tracks will get her attention and keep her occupied even longer.
>>
>>3401824
How about combining the two for maximum elf confusion?

Make animal marks and destroyed foliage to a ways out into the forest in a direction away from the nest. Set up a delayed fire. Run to the edge of the forest and make loud noises.

Circle around quickly and wait for elf to leave to investigate.
>>
>>3401884
Actually I like this, shifting to this and minimizes chance of forest fire by being on the beach. Make it a delayed burn though so we have chance to get back into position.

>>3401824
I'm going to vote for >>3401612 again but I don't mind trying to start a fire if that avoids another draw.

Ragnar briefly chuckles at the idea of stealing the stilt-leg's bow, but there is no way he could pull it off without her noticing. No one is that oblivious.

The kobold continues to sneak away, formulating a plan to distract them with footprints farther up the shore. However he must have done something to alert them, because he hears conversation from the camp site, and the guard starts rousing up everyone. He tries to watch in, but some of the fisherman start to light torches, and the brightness makes their faces difficult to discern.

Ragnar freezes and watches what the commotion is, if it's not him, he doesn't want to get spotted should the stilt-legs charge forward. Oddly enough, instead of heading towards the forest the torches move towards the water, and the elf moves back into the darkness away from her companions. She draws the bow back, also facing the ocean.

There are what sound like orders and heavy splashing, then battle cries, and clashes of wood and metal against each other. The torches dance, and the elf fires away into the brightness.

It's hard to see what exactly they are fighting, but it's something roughly the stilt-legs size, perhaps just a few inches shorter. Even though he can't see them clearly, they are very obviously not stilt-legs. Their outline appears sort of hunch-backed, and their heads are much bigger, seemingly lacking a neck entirely. From the long shadows it looks like they have spears, and some appear to be twirling nets.

As he watches, the elf hops sideways, dodging nearly being skewered by a javelin.

The kobold isn't sure what he should do. Being part of a battle doesn't seem like a good idea, and with projectiles of all sizes flying around he might get hurt. On the other claw it's possible that he could grab something and get out in the confusion.

It's hard to tell how the battle is going on from here, but maybe the winners will be weak enough after the fight that he can jump the them and reap all the spoils. The kobold almost wishes he had a cart or something.

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3404950
My mind thinks Murlocs but who knows haha. They're unfortunately not in a really good position to steal from, they look to be near the crates in fighting and the Elf can still see where the axe was. Damn.

I suggest we sneak around to the right. Going by the image in >>3396812 we're due east of the camp.

Sneak around to the east and get a better view of the battle as well as who looks to be winning what each side is wielding, etc. Gain more intel then we can decide if we risk taking something next turn.
>>
>>3404963
Uh sorry not "sneak to the east", to our right which would bring us to watching the camp from the trees to its north.
>>
>>3404950
Grab that javelin that nearly hit us it might be useful then move to a safer spot preferably somewhere we can see the battle better but sadly is more important, running into that and risking our life for something small is dumb watch and see how things go.
>>
>>3404993
>Sadly
Safety*
>>
>>3404950
Patience. You can't get to the axe right now, the elf will still spot you. If the battle moves onto the beach that will be the perfect opportunity.
>>
>>3404993
This. We might have lost the axe, but if we can grab that javelin then we won't be going home empty handed. But whoever wins is going to probably still be too much for us. If Klindi were here then maybe? But for now, grab the javelin and book it back home.
>>
>>3404993
>>3405618
These, let's gtfo before we get speared and go back after everyone's done.
>>
>>3405618
>>3405943
By safer spot, I think he just meant further away or away from the line of fire. Not to leave entirely.
>>
>>3404950
Stay put for now.
>>
>>3404950
That last option is pretty appealing but might be a little beyond our ability at least on our own unless the winners are really weak. Going in there now is just asking for it.
Whichever side loses we'll be able to scavenge from them probably, no need to risk our scaly hide when we'll be able to get more stuff then we'll be able to carry back anyway.
>>
>>3404993
The javelin nearly hit the elf, not us but if it's close enough to grab without coming out of the trees I support grabbing it.
>>
>>3406988
Ya think the elf would give us stuff if we helped her defend the stilt legs?
>>
>>3407065
It's possible. Typically Kobolds are seen as vermin though so she or someone in her party might have an extreme racial bias towards us and just fuck us over. I think it's too risky to let them know we're here in that capacity unfortunately.
>>
>>3406988
I seem to be misunderstanding everything today, thank you for the spot. We can grab it if it's close otherwise ignoring it would be for the best.

>>3407065
That is way to risky, getting in the middle of a fight we don't have much information on then relying on people who would typically kill us and look for our nest to wipe it out to not do exactly that and then hoping for a reward.
There's a reason we (probably) don't like stilt legs.
Maybe if we could help without being seen, but we don't have any ranged weapons other than some rocks.
>>
>>3404950
can we move to a different position to get a better look? these attackers could be a possible threat to our nest as well.

Ragnar waits behind a tree, poking his head out to see what is happening. It's still too hard to see, but the torches are still being held aloft, and he can see the sparks from metal on metal. There are three javelins near the elf, two stuck in the ground and one that seems to have snapped on impact. The elf suddenly advances, though the kobold isn't sure why. What he does know is that he doesn't want to leave empty clawed, and crawls out and snatches one of the projectiles, wrenching it from the hole it made in the ground. He then quickly shimmies back into cover.

He takes his place behind the tree again, and listens in on what's going on. Curiously, the sounds of battle have died down. Ragnar hazards a peek.

He can't see the elf, though the stilt-legs holding the torches near the beach are holding their light source high and steady. The kobold thinks he can hear some conversation, but he can't make it out from here. Ragnar notices something odd though. The number of stilt-legs doesn't seem to have lowered from the few he counted before, despite being in a battle, though some seem bent over slightly with injuries. How is that possible? All the stilt-legs he's seen so far were pretty squishy and weak, stronger than Kobolds unfortunately but only because of their size. Most just ran from fights or died right away, and yet there they stood talking while standing over their kills.

Ragnar must admit to being a bit curious about just what is going on, though he wonders if he should just be patient and back off for now. Perhaps they'll go back to sleep and he'll be able to grab more?

What does Ragnar do?
>>
>>3407312
Look around for the elf before we do anything else. Maybe the things they were fighting were just super weak. They're supposed to be fishermen after all, not warriors.
>>
>>3407312
Retreat back into the bushes and see if you can get a look at whatever attacked the stilt legs. Locating their living kin could mean potential allies.
>>
>>3407312
Yes patience young Ragnar, like the mighty egg we carried on our back we must wait for the right time to emerge. Keep an eye out for now and minimize movement and sound. They're now on their highest alert both being awake, warmed up from the battle, and not distracted from the battle.

>>3407322 as this said, absolutely try to see the elf if we can, I have the nasty feeling she'll sneak up on us...
>>
>>3407312
Super hard to kill stilt-legs... Let's go home. The plan to scavenge from them after they were weakened is a clear failure, so we have no reason to hang around anymore unless we want to come back to Klindi full of holes. We know they have good gear, but they are not a foe we can handle. Even if it was 1 on 1 we would lose. Let's stop tempting fate.
>>
>>3407312
Move back and wait, whoever they are they're more then we can handle. But still we might be able to get some more stuff from them if they all go to sleep or if that elf stays on watch we might be able to just go take some more stuff from whoever they defeated.

You do realize that they aren't paying attention to the campsite right now, right?
>>
>>3407427
We can't back out now. Our cover isn't blown and there's plenty of opportunity here. We just need to play it cool and be patient, try to avoid any detection and give it time.

At the very worst we can loot whatever they killed once they pack camp and leave.

While that may be true we don't know three thingd.
One, how long it would take us to get whatever we want.
Two, how long they will be distracted for.
Three, where that damn elf if that could take us out at range is.
If we knew we had time, where that elf is (and where she's looking), and we knew what we wanted (presumably just that axe) then we could make a dash for it, but we'd have to be worried about them finding our tracks.
>>
>>3407312
let's try to take more stuff while they are busy. we can sneak away in the confusion.
>>
>>3407312
Sneak in closer and listen. Maybe steal something if it's easy to do so.

Leave the javelin behind where you can grab it while fleeing. If they see you carrying a weapon like that you'll have more to worry about than simply relocating the nest.

+1 to leaving the javelin behind. I think we should do that regardless of what we do unless we end up leaving the field entirely.

1. We're highly unlikely to take them out on our own with the javelin anyways so carrying it only increases the risk of them wanting to kill us.
2. They're unlikely to care or find it so as long as we're alive we can always hypothetically come back and fine it.

What's the bump limit on this board?

I'm all for sticking around and trying to get in closer and steal. Just leaving with a javelin seems like almost a waste at this point. Just make sure to keep an eye on that elf girl.

We can't see her at the moment, we have no idea where she is.

[Probably the last for the thread since it's all the way on page 10.]

Ragnar waits in his position. The fisherman are probably keeping a better eye around the camp site, and he doesn't want to get spotted, especially since he can't see the pointy-eared one. That, and he is hoping he could grab something else before he leaves. The stilt-legs on the beach continue to converse, and eventually the elf comes back to the fire pit and starts doing something. He assumes she is creating a light for her companions, because the kobold can see her stacking log.

The stilt-legs with the torches suddenly break off. Three head inside the tents, hurriedly doing something, not giving much care to the noise. The one of the others starts moving aside the boxes, and finding something starts to pry the box open. Once the elf gets the fire going she heads to the beach and starts pulling the boats upshore.

The flurry of activity seems to indicate to Ragnar that they are packing camp. For what reason he could only guess. Maybe the fight scared them and are ending their fishing trip early. If that's the case, they may be heading back to a settlement.

There is an opportunity here if they are. Finding the closest settlement will help determine what he could easily get, and if they are perhaps making a nest too close to stilt-leg civilization. On the other claw, based on the time he won't be able to return to Klindi today. He wonders what she would do, and what would happen to the egg. Would they be okay by themselves?

He knows he at least wants to stay until he can get a look at what they were fighting. Perhaps he can figure out what they are. Who knows, maybe he can gain some allies against the stilt-legs. The one at the boxes sets up something that looks like the skeleton of a cart. The elf and the other stilt-leg nearby pick up the boats one-by-one and stack both on top. They then start putting crates into the boats.

What does Ragnar do?

Yea they're packing up to leave, but that does mean they're distracted maybe if we're fast we can grab something and they'll think they just forgot it here when they find out they don't have it. Look for an opportunity to sneak closer.

+1 to this
We could see about possibly sneaking up to one of the tents and cut a small hole or raise the bottom a bit to see what's in it. Wait till they're not in it and working on something else and then swipe something.

We'll need to give up on the axe and crates for now. Trying to steal from them is too risky. We can try to swipe something in the confusion then I say we follow them and find their settlement.

The settlement will present future stealing opportunities and Klindi is a smart lass she'll understand and be fine on her own for a day (plus we might make her like us more by making her a little worried over our Ragnar safety hehe)
