You sat for a few minutes, thinking on how you were going to do this. The Titanoboa was still sitting, coiled up, probably sleeping now or something. It wasn’t moving and it wasn’t active right now. But something told you in your gut that if you tried to climb over it, it’d know right away. The fact that it probably hasn’t pounced at you or noticed you means you’re likely smelling like decades of its own shit and piss. Not ideal, but it grants you some element of stealth at least.

Fact is however is that you can’t go back to the ship. With the fire going, the oxygen is going to get sucked out of the interior fast, really fast And you’ll likely suffocate in there as opposed to getting eaten by a Titanoboa in this cave.

There was a small opening above the Titanoboa’s body, wide enough for you to crouch through if you climbed over. That is, if you even want to climb over. As for weaknesses, you scan the body with your good old eyeballs and find a grand total of nothing. If this thing could tank plasma shots from your Carbine, there likely wasn’t a whole lot your grenades could do. And unfortunately, it appears to have snuck its head into the center of its coil. Which means to get to the head, you’d have to climb all over the body anyway.

You sigh, rubbing your face. You feel so dirty, physically.

But right now, your growing rage and sense of betrayal was starting to override that. You needed to get back somehow, by any means.

> Wait for the Titanoboa to wake up. Go hide and once it’s clear, just walk out of the cave. That’s hoping it’ll wake up in an hour or so.

Welcome back to No One Gets Left Behind after a few week's absence. Yep, you're stuck in a cave with a Titanoboa after Godwin "accidentally" flamed you out and sent you packing further down the ship. Shit got real messy.

Go ahead and leave your votes in overnight, and we shall return once I get back from work tomorrow around 6 or 7PM EST.

If you want a more detailed recap, here's the archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html?searchall=No+One+Gets+Left+Behind

Right. First thing’s first. Climb over and get while the getting’s good. You walk up to the Titanoboa slowly. It’s ridged and spiky scales looked like decent enough handholds. The question is: is it going to feel you clambering over it?

One way to find out. You grab a scale and squeeze tight. No response. You pull yourself up and use a scale for a foothold. Still no response. Right. It’s probably resting or probably asleep. Hopefully asleep. You take a breath quietly. If this doesn’t work, you could get crushed or eaten or both. You could just stay and wait for it to wake up. But it might eat you then. You could go back and suffocate.

No. You did –not- come this far just to die like this. You’re getting back to the ship one way or the other. You climb over, as you would climb the rocks on a cliff. The incredibly rough edges even out of the water are scratching at your hands even through your gloves. You climb up the skin, and make it up the top of the first part of the giant snake. All that matters now is getting past the rest. You take hold of another scale and keep climbing up.

Your thoughts return to Godwin as you climb. Godwin, Godwin, Godwin…

You’re going to frakking kill him. Make no mistake. Whatever excuses he has, it’s going to take a lot to convince you to not kill him. Did Rutledge put him up to it? Maybe. Burke? Maybe too. A lot of maybes are going through your head as you climb. Not to mention what is Tierney going to think? Frak. Tierney’s probably going to be stupid enough to rush into the fire to save you. And you have no goddamn way now to contact her easily, not unless you want to call her by radio. And even then…

Suddenly the skin starts quivering under your hands and feet. The Titanoboa stirs slightly, its body moving underneath you.

Uh oh.

You hoist yourself up, trying to clamber over and hopefully get to the top of the coil. Then you’re suddenly thrown to the side as the body starts uncoiling. You slam into one part of the snake, then another before grabbing hold onto a scale somewhere. The Titanoboa shudders, quivering as it brings its head up. And you immediately realize where you’re holding onto.

You’re holding onto its back, just a few meters below its head. It can feel for sure. It scouts around the cave, cocking its head side to side, looking around. It’s searching. It can probably at least feel that you’re somewhere on its skin. But it can’t see you. It turns around, taking you with it, trying to remain still. Then the Titanoboa simply settles in again. It rests its head on the top of its own pile of skin and scale. Right, climb over quick.

With all haste, you hurry up over the Titanoboa’s scales, ignoring the dull pain in your chest from that impact. Right now, all that matters is getting out.

Again however, it shudders. It can feel you! It definitely feels you climbing over it! Once more it raises its head, nearly knocking you off balance as you try to maneuver around.

Then you hear a loud hiss. You look behind yourself and see the Titan’s shiny glowing yellow eyes staring straight at you.

Ah frak. It tilts its head, sniffing at you. However, you can see it coiling its neck back… You glance back. It’s a long way down but you’ll definitely survive and you might even be able to make a run for it. But given this thing’s size and how fast it was last time you faced it… running might not be an option.

Hopefully it's more annoyed than hungry. We're small and as a meal we're not really worth that much effort to chase down.
And if it's anything like a real boa, it definitely can eat us if we stay on it. Its entire body is basically a hand that can grab and crush us, and staying on it means staying in the palm of that hand.
>>
> Jump to the side! It can’t eat you if you stay on it!

You leap to the side and grab onto one of its scales. The head flies past, nearly snapping you up. Suddenly the body starts moving again. You look back and see yourself about to get crushed by another part of the body. You roll yourself to the side towards the exit. And instead you flop down onto another part of the body. How long is this frakking snake!? The Titanoboa turns around, baring its fangs at you as it starts circling around you. Shit! You come around and stand up, trying to run. But then the body below you whips forward, throwing you back onto your ass.

It’s coiling around you! The body surrounds you like a set of razor sharp walls. You leap up on one and climb for dear life as they close in around you. And narrowly you avoid getting crushed by it. However this thing is composed, it’s definitely trying to choke you out doing this! The Titan strikes again. You throw yourself down, again another miss for him. He flies right over you. You quickly roll away, just before his bulk smashes down right where you were.

Exit! Get to the exit!

You roll down off his long body, but again he coils around once more, aiming to surround you. You see a gap between rock and body, then look to the side and see gap between him and the wall.

Wall.

You rush at the wall. The Titan smashes his head trying to crush you before you rush straight past. You jump down, clear of the Titanoboa. You look back and see it uncoiling, aiming to pursue you. Shit, shit! Maybe all you have to do is get out of the cave and you’re fine but…

You blink, looking at the opening out. That is a really long way to run. In the center of the cave was a long stream, gushing downwards at you. It’s not just a long way to run, you’re going to have to climb as well. The Titanoboa glares at you, slithering up scarily fast for its size.

> If you fight back, maybe it’ll leave you alone. Use your Carbine, use grenades, anything!

You raise your Carbine, trying to calm your breathing so you can get a steady shot. Too late, it coils up again for another strike! You fire a wild spray of plasma shots. The shots splinter and wash over the thick hide of the Titanoboa. It flinches back, shaking its head from the strikes. But they barely seem to do anything to it physically. What are those scales made of!? “Come on, you miserable bastard!” you scream. You keep firing at it, hoping to scare it away. It rears its head up, opening its jaws. You fire the plasma straight into its mouth. It shuts its mouth, hissing as it looks down at you. Eye, go for an eye, where are they eyes!?

Wait, grenades! You unclip a grenade from your webbing and pop the spoon. As it opens its mouth again, you toss it straight it. The grenade bounces off of its mouth and explodes. It flinches from the explosion, hissing loudly. You take another grenade, stepping back. You pop the spoon once more and throw another. This one simply rolls up to it and explodes too. The Titanoboa flinches back once more, hissing in surprise.

That’s good, but you don’t have enough grenades to keep it away. You keep backstepping towards the exit, panting heavily as you fire another burst at it. The Titanoboa however continues to slither up towards you, slowly this time, but not deterred by your threats. You keep firing at it until you hear a loud click. The powerpack is used up! Shit! You get ready to draw another pack, but its mouth opens up as it again gets ready to strike.

You draw your machete, hands shaking. Alright, if it wants to bite, you’re gonna put up a fight.

Then you hear a loud screech at the end of the cave. You pause. The Titanoboa does too. You look back. Several croaking noises. The sound of Raptors and Troodon. They chirp and call out, apparently curious. You can’t see them but they must have heard all the shots and explosions.

The Titanoboa snarls, its glowing eyes squinting as it coils back once more and slowly starts slinking away from the exit. It continues to stare at you, pausing.

You hear another chirp at the exit again. They’re outside.

You know what, fuck it. Full out guns blazing, maybe the titan will follow us out and help wreak havoc, go for the more easier and filling meals.
>>
> Head outside while you have the chance. You’ll take your chances.

You start sprinting away from the Titanoboa. He’s giving you a chance here to escape. Sure, it’s right into the teeth of the Lizards. But you’d rather them than that snake. At least you can kill the Lizards. That Titanoboa seems nigh-on invincible. You start climbing up the rocks in the cave towards the sound of curious Lizards. They might hear you grunting and kicking at rocks as you struggle up and over. You don’t hear a peep from the Titanoboa as you run.

Slowly the light at the end of the tunnel gets bigger and bigger as you get closer and closer. Their throaty croaking calls get louder and louder as you approach. Anything to get out of here though. Anything!

That said, the light turns out to have been the faint rise of daylight from the sunrise. But what’s more is the two Troodon sniffing at the entrance who apparently don’t realize you’re there. You raise your carbine at them and fire. They snap away from the shots, bounding away shrieking in fright. Other Troodon pounce out of the woods and around the cave all around you. Must be at least ten of them, chirping and calling out as they start to surround you. You get ready to fire when you hear something above you.

Your ear twitches. You jump back. Just in time.

Right where you stood, a Raptor pounces down, sinking his claws straight into the ground. You nearly fall on your ass as you recover, but a tail swipe smacks the Carbine out of your hands and lets it dangle on your sling. You ready your machete and step back, keeping your guard up.

The Raptor Major bares his teeth, snarling at you. The Troodon watch, careful to make sure you aren’t trying to run away. What’s the aim of this guy? The Raptor steps back, squinting his eyes at you, flexing his claws and tapping his toeclaws against the ground. He kicks back at the ground, dragging his toeclaw against the dirt. Then he screeches at you, dropping his shotgun and baring his claws. The Troodon all step back, cocking their heads and watching.

Oh. You see his aim. He wants a goddamn duel.

You sigh and ready your machete. You loosely spin it around before bringing it up to guard. Machetes aren’t exactly swords but it’s the most honorable thing you can think of. That said, you feel like if you did draw your Carbine, you might draw the ire of those Troodon. They stare quietly, baring their teeth or hungrily opening the jaws. If you die, you’re not getting an open casket that’s for sure. You’ll be lucky to have anything left to bury if anyone finds you.

Right, focus. The Major starts strafing to the right slowly, eyeing you up as you strafe the opposite way. You rest a hand on your Carbine’s stock, ready to draw it if he decides to do something funny. No, instead he kicks his shotgun away, hissing loudly at you.

Then he pounces. You dodge to the side. He brakes hard, spinning around to face before jumping at you. You don’t even think. You swing. All you get is a flash of scales and skin before he’s on the ground with a shallow cut in his side, saved by his harness. Before you can recover he tackles you back with his head, almost knocking you down. Then he coils up and leaps up at you. Again you swing without thinking, knocking him back down. You try to finish it. He rolls away from your blade strike. No dice!

He stands back up, howling at you so loud you can hear your ears ring. You shake your head and see him strafing around you once more, calculating his next move. All you get is a cut in his side. The Troodon chitter and squeak, watching quietly.

You decide to step back and let the Raptor come at you instead. You keep your machete up on guard. The Raptor pauses, cocking his head side to side, glaring at you. “Come on you smiling bastard!” you shout. The Raptor crows in response, flaring up before charging at you. You step to the side, managing a punch to the side of his head. He rushes past and brakes to a halt before turning around to charge again. You jump to the side and roll onto your knees, looking at him. He again brakes to a halt.

Then he turns and charges once more. You get up and ready yourself. He jumps up and pounces, toe claws ready to impale you!

You raise your machete up and brace!

You raise the machete and slash down. The Raptor gets smashed down by the blade, shrieking in pain. You managed to hurt him! He kicks his legs, rolling around on the ground as he crawls away. You get ready to come up and finish him. He’s got a huge slash mark down on his neck. The Troodon back away, chittering in fear.

The Raptor Major screams out, kicking his legs in pain. You step up to him and slash down. With one stroke, you decapitate the Raptor. The life immediately escapes out of his eyes as his head goes limp. The body twitches and spasms violently before it too goes limp. You breath heavily, looking at yourself. Not a damn scratch. Wow. That was actually pretty lucky. You look around at all the Troodon.

They chirp, craning their heads down looking at you. They chitter and squeak quietly, apparently scared now.

> Just leave. You’re done.

You take a deep breath, holding your chest for a second. You just escape being a Titanoboa’s snack. And you just won out against a Raptor Major in a straight-on one on one. This has been a –very- exciting start to your day. And you really want to just go back to the Ship, beat the stuffing out of Godwin, and just maybe… just maybe… go the hell to sleep. Preferably either on Graves’ tits or Tierney on top of you. Either or.

You rub your head, deciding to walk south. The two Trodoon blocking your path stand aside, looking at you in awe. They quietly whistle and chirp to each other as you walk away. You’re crashing pretty hard now mentally. Barely any sleep for the night. If there was a monster that escaped from the inner clutches of the Ship, you and the Titan must have missed it. Either way, it doesn’t matter. Just get to the ship and…

You turn around. The Troodon have followed you.

“Uh.” You wave your arms at them. They step back, croaking and chirping. “Go away,” you say, no fire behind it. They blink, cocking and quirking their heads around like a bunch of flamingoes. Frakking little Lizards. You charge at them. “AAHH!” you scream at them. They quickly storm away into cover, poking their heads up. You sigh, turning back around to walk.

Then you hear rustling in the woods behind you. You turn back around and they’ve followed you again once more.

These things are either going to eat you or follow you all the way back to the goddamn ship. “I said… GO!” you shout at them. They quickly backpedal, right back into the trees. But they still stare at you with their big eyes, curious. What the hell is wrong with these bastards!? You just killed their leader! Wait. You know how this goes. It’s like with the Deinos, isn’t it? You kill their leader, suddenly you’re now their frakking owners. Great, is that how that goes? That’s just frakking great. Now they won’t leave you alone!

You sigh, rubbing your eyes. You need some goddamn sleep.

Then you hear an ear-splitting roar to the east. It’s close. Really close. The Troodon all look up, then immediately disperse in random directions. The roar is followed by several Raptor calls in response.

Old One Eye. He’s skulking around.

> Okay, nope. Get back to the ship, now.

> Okay, nope. Get back to the ship, now.

You take a deep breath. The Rex is in the area. You’re caught flatfooted, smelling like a Titan, blood of a Raptor on your hands, with no DAB or AMP Rifle or anything that could easily kill it.

Yeah, hell no. You’re getting hell out of here!

You start sprinting southwards, hopefully to the river. The leaves, twigs, and braches scratch and slap at you as you run. At this point you don’t care too much about stealth. The objective is to build distance. Once you’re back at the ship, then you can reconsider what to do. Maybe you can strike the Rex. Maybe you go for a raid on the Lizards. Maybe you can even bang the shit out of Tierney and Graves at the same time to celebrate surviving yet –another- situation that should’ve killed you. Right now all that matters is getting back to the ship.

As you run however, a shot suddenly rings out. You feel a sharp sting at your arm as you drop down to the ground. You’ve been grazed by a shot! You look up and see Stenos skulking through the woods. Shit! Panic took over there! Two Stenos close in from the east. It’s not the White Feather. But you’d rather not have these two!

But as they close in, they’re suddenly shot to pieces by plasma bolts. You blink in surprise, catching your breath.

Coming out from behind them is Burke, hood of her poncho over her head with piles of leaves and twigs over her clothes and head. She runs up to you and holds her hand out to you. “Come on.” To be frank, what can you say? You grab her hand. She helps you back up to your feet and starts pushing you forward. “We’re not out of the woods yet. Keep your guard up,” she says. You draw your Carbine. “Lizards are patrolling all over the area so we’re going to have be careful.”

“I’m fine by the way,” you say.

“No shit,” she says.

Appropriate reaction.
