Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical and ignores all other rolls! In the same vein, rolling 1 means a critical failure (only for Very Hard rolls and above).

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

“Yes, let’s meet up! Thank you!” Aurora sounds so relieved that it makes you feel bad for her. Must’ve been rough on her. “Uhm… Phil, I need to get myself ready, I look like such a slob right now, so I’m probably not going immediately immediately, you know?”

“I’m taking that for granted, yes. Take your time, but not too much please.”

“Yeah, sure! I’ll do it mad fast, trust me!” Aurora sounds pumped. “I can’t take mom’s secret phone with me, so you’re going to be one of the few people who has my actual number, Phil! Shows you how much I’m really trustin’ you here!” Aurora sounds like a not-so-bright but modest girl. Howie is a pretty dry guy as well, and her little sister sounds very mature for her age – so it’s only a bit surprising knowing how Holly is.

Scarlet writes down Aurora’s number for you.

“Where do we meet up?” Aurora wonders.

“I don’t know, I’ll call you in a couple of minutes to tell you.” You don’t have a plan just yet.

“I still need to wait for my mom to come back if I wanna go anywhere, so take your… Oh wait, that’s her! Oh fuck, I-I shouldn’t…! Talk to you in a bit!” Aurora hastily breaks up the call.

With the call over, it’s time to start planning your next step. You look at Scarlet and relax a little bit.

“What a nice girl she ended up being.” You nod to yourself.

“I suppose she does sound nice… You really do help anyone, huh?” Scarlet looks like she’s really proud of you. Again with this?

“Hmm… Where should we meet?”

“Somewhere where she feels comfortable of course.” Scarlet helps you narrow down alternatives by not narrowing down alternatives… “Should I go with you?”

“Yes, but you need to hide.” You make it clear that this is her own stealth mission.

“But like, stay close or should I go to a café like last time?” Scarlet wants you to specify.

“I supposed it’s no different than last mission, so go to a place where you feel safe that’s nearby.”

“Okay!” Scarlet is up for it. “I guess I’m not using that yet…”

“What are you talking about?” You raise an eyebrow.

“N-Nothing… Nothing at all.” Scarlet plays dumb. You don’t like Scarlet’s mischievous look on her face. “Where are you planning to meet her, anyway?”

“At her home.”

“That’s… bold.” Scarlet is a little bit surprised.

“You said it was supposed to be somewhere where she feels comfortable.” You shrug.

“Y-Yeah, but isn’t it a bit too much?” Scarlet doesn’t know how to react.

“It is, and if she refuses I have another place in mind. But it would be good if I knew where Howie lives and this way we’ll get more information. Besides, I wanted to talk with Holly to begin with anyway” You explain.

“Oh, alrighty, I thought you were being dense again.” Scarlet relaxes a little bit. “It still is a little bit much for a stranger to know, don’t you think?”

“I honestly don’t expect her to accept. But I’ll give it a shot…”

You think after a couple of minutes Aurora should be ready to talk. It’s time to make the call! You tell Aurora where you want to meet and if she feels uncomfortable with that you can go somewhere else, but even before she heard the second part of your statement she accepted your proposal!

You asked her if Howie’s home and if he is, to find a way to make him leave the house. Aurora tells you that Howie is not currently home, but she has no idea when he’s coming back – so it’s better if you go there pronto. The only condition for this meeting to happen is to meet up at the subway station near her home first, which you accept. You must get going now.

“W-Where should I go then? Just a place nearby the station?” Scarlet wonders.

“Yeah, I’ll let you know what the place is once I get there, then you’ll figure out if you want to move or not.” You don’t think it’s a big deal.

“Yeah, yeah, makes sense.” Scarlet looks resolute now.

And so, you two packed up your stuff and went to the subway. Once you were close to arriving at the designated station, Scarlet walked away from you to the other extreme of the wagon. You’re in downtown Pokyo Lokyo, close to your own district, weirdly enough it’s a residential zone – mostly tall apartment buildings, all mostly doddering looking. There are some shops around but far and few between. That’s what you see once you step out of the station anyway…

You called Aurora a couple of stations before arriving like she asked, so it’s just a matter of waiting. You described yourself as a tall guy with glasses, that should suffice, right? You’re kinda bland otherwise. You have no idea what Aurora looks like but surely you can imagine it. A young Holly basically…! Wait, why does this imagery feel familiar…? You shake your head and stop yourself from thinking stupid shit.

“Hey!” You hear the cheerful voice of a delicate girl calling behind you. You turn to see if it’s you who she’s calling…

You both turn around and see each other right in the eye. The girl completely stops moving and so do you…

This is not the Aurora you were expecting at all, but she’s definitely Holly’s daughter… Ehem, She’s just standing there, not saying a word.

“Phil…?” Okay, she just said a word.

“Yeah, sure.” You accept. Whatever it takes to help her calm down!

“Thank you!” Aurora approaches you with a carefree attitude and latches onto your arm.

Then, in the blink of an eye, Aurora’s hands went lighting fast and touched you all over your body. If you didn’t mentally verify it with Philonune, you would’ve assumed it was your imagination. Almost felt like an entity’s ability, but you thoroughly examined Aurora’s body and she has no flame! You cannot help but to feel taken aback by what just happened.

“Something wrong?” Aurora acts like she didn’t do anything just now.

“What did you just do to me…?” With one hand you check your stuff and everything is still in place. Aurora’s eyes open wide in complete disbelief like she has never been caught doing this ever before in her life.

“I-It’s a reflex…!” Aurora stops holding your arm and steps back. “I-I only wanted to make sure you didn’t have anything dangerous on you! L-Like I’m used to dangerous people comin’ over to my house, and they bring all types of stuff, so it’s like a technique I developed to keep my family safe since it happened a couple of times…!”

“I get that you don’t trust me just yet, but…” That really felt uncomfortable to you.

“That’s great! I didn’t tell you before, but tryin’ to be sneaky is how you get the whole family interested in what you’re doing.” Aurora is calming down a bit.

From what you gathered so far, you assumed Aurora was the kind of girl who would be self conscious about the place she lives in and all that jazz. Seeing how this place looks even worse than your apartment building and you can hear the neighbors arguing (to put it lightly) and how she doesn’t seem to mind in the slightest, she's just a care-free girl in that aspect. Aurora has a lot of keys on her keychain and is struggling to find the one for her apartment, you wonder why she doesn’t just simply knock.

“Now you bring them in just like that? You’re a chip off the old block, shame!” A repugnant old lady at the end of the hallway shouts at Aurora. She looks like the kind of lady that when she tells you her age, you're just left surprised for the wrong reasons…

“Not now, Ms. Sundet. He’s just my study buddy.” Aurora tries to play it cool. You wanted to say something but Aurora drags you by the arm closer and shakes her head.

“Yeah, right! Study buddy? More like fuck buddy! I can’t imagine you getting any studying done!” The old lady shouts back while giggling.

“Like how I can’t imagine you gettin’ any action…” Aurora finally opens the door and hurries you inside as you hear Aurora’s neighbor cursing her out for what she said.

Wow, Aurora’s apartment is all cluttered, but that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily dirty or anything – reminds you of your own but smaller, with a couple more patches on the wall than yours though. You can tell this place is taken care of better than the other apartments, and you haven’t even visited them yet – and you’re never going to hopefully!

“Sorry ‘bout that.” Now Aurora is self conscious.

“Would you believe me if I tell you that I’m kinda used to it?” You smile. It died down once your father was gone and Craig kicked out some of the tenants though.

“Cool, I mean it ain’t cool, but cool!” Aurora has a complete airhead moment. You don’t know what it says about you that you get her completely. It’s hard to relate to people sometimes…

“Kinda…” Bruna meekly hides by the wall. “M-Mom is busy with Sina…” So Holly is here too!

“Alrighty! C’mon, Phil, follow me.” Aurora drags you by the arm again.

It took like 3 steps to be in their living room. It’s smaller than yours, there is a TV near the wall, a kotatsu in the middle and pillows to sit down on! It’s kinda like your secret base. There are 2 little girls here as well, one with glasses and another in overalls.

Aurora explains the situation to her little sisters and tells them your name! You’re here to study something! The bigger sister is Bruna, the one with glasses is Olivia and the smallest one is Gisella. They all seem very interested in you like you’re their new puppy. Once Aurora steps out to her room to find the ‘books’, all the little girls start bombarding you with questions.

“Mister, do you like robots?” Gisella asks politely.

“What are your qualifications to teach our sister?” Olivia wonders. She sounds like the one who answered your call at the beginning.

“What does it feel like to be so tall?” Bruna wonders.

“Ehm… I…” You don’t know where to begin.

There is a diagram with a lot of people on it… including you! The fuck?! “This is like those conspiracy maps they show in TV shows. What are those called?”

“I have no idea, but let me take a good look...” You take the phone from her hands.

“Ask away, I’ll translate what’s going on or somethin’.” Aurora is enthusiastic about this.

“Talk to me about the cult, what’s going on here exactly?” You point at the zone where Ammirati and the other possible cultists are. You’re going to corroborate the information you have, and maybe see if this whole thing is even reliable at all.

“Let me check, let me check…” Aurora is going through her files. You take a glimpse at one of the papers and she was completely right, they are completely unreadable! It’s like she developed a new language or something.

The briefing doesn’t actually start with the string map and what it means to those involved, but a long winded explanation of what the cult is and does. It echoes in more detail all the information you gathered before, from their belief of destroying the world to build anew, to the existence of the Dark Churches, to who the chancellors and other important members are and what their ranks mean, to the days they bring new recruits in and out.

As for more new stuff, they have dark holidays! That should be an oxymoron of some kind… It talks as well about how the whole church was funded by 3 people, surprisingly enough Ammirati isn’t one of them, but Valdemar Bruun is – Ammirati appeared as their messiah at one point. The other two founders’ names were wiped out of the churches’ files and they’re kept a secret in the Dark Church.

It also goes into deep detail about the layout of the Dark Church and its main building in Pokyo Lokyo, something Xavi talked about during your call earlier. Like Xavi says, the first 2 floors are where regular cultists are allowed, the third floor has some type of storage for important items and files, and funnily enough – Ammirati’s room is not on the final floor but the 6th one of this 10 storey building. No info about what the other floors have though.

Now to the juicy stuff! Aurora reads out loud the notes about the influence map regarding church members. Ammirati is obviously the main man here and the union with his subjects (Vivienne, Valdemar and YUNG-P) are pretty self-explanatory. YUNG-P and Ammirati met at a TV set in one of the shows Ammirati appeared on, as for the longest time the leader’s identity was a mystery – but Ammirati was in the show business well before that, making the reveal all the more surprising at the time.

The dark shadowy figure aligned with Ammirati that you couldn’t recognize is none other than T_T Neko. What a letdown! You already knew that spinster sold anyone’s information and one of her clients was the Cult.

But there is a misplaced cult member in this map. You ask about what Foroutan’s deal was, he’s connected directly to Kaz and that other assembly member whose name you forget right now. It appears Foroutan was working with both sides, the Assembly and the Cult, at the same time. He was the man who made it possible for Howie and 7W157 to infiltrate the church – but if that’s the case, why doesn’t Howie and co. know more about the church? Why send 2 guys to uncover their secrets? It’s all too weird. You inquire Aurora about this glaring contradiction, but all you get is that he’s friends with Strawberry (that was the codename of the assembly member you forgot!) and nothing else was written about him…

Which now makes you wonder, if Howie was involved with the Assembly and all… Why are they part of his chart? If you made one, you wouldn’t include your friends or yourself… And Howie clearly didn’t add 7W157 either. So what could that possibly mean? You ask Aurora about this as well, but she said her guess is as good as yours and that she has never seen these people before. Maybe Howie wasn’t as buddy-buddy with them as you originally thought?

Last but not least, you ask what Vivienne and Osgood’s connection was. Vivienne seems to hold a great grudge against Osgood for unknown reasons. But it’s easy for you to imagine why...

“Woah, this is interesting.” That’s a lot to take in, but this isn’t over yet! Doesn’t clue you in on how to deal with Howie later though, so leaving him in a coma seems like the option you’ll go for.

“You gettin’ everythin’ I’m sayin’ right? I know I’m not good at explaining stuff.” Aurora wonders as she keeps going through more and more files.

“Don’t sell yourself short, you’re doing great.” You raise her morale.

“Y-You can’t take them…” Bruna almost loses her soul upon hearing that.

“Y-Yeah, you have no jurisdiction.” Olivia wants to stand her ground but looks unsure of herself.

“You think I can’t tell mom about what you’re doing now? She’s going to be so mad at all of you.” Aurora stands her ground as well.

“P-Please, no…” Gisella also looks terrified.

“So behave please.” Aurora has complete control over her sisters. The girls retreat, but it gives you the feeling that this is not going to be the last time you’ll see them today. “Ehem, is there something else you want to know?” Aurora gets closer to you again.

“Y-Yeah.” You look at the map again. “I wanna know what’s going on with Ka-Shing and the people surrounding him, please.”

“OMG… you’re so polite.” Aurora seems to like that. “S-Sorry, I didn’t mean to say something weird… ehm, let me check.”

Another little briefing about Ka-Shing starts, he’s categorized as one of the most influential people on the chart after all! He’s the owner of the Ka-Shing Corporation, a multi-faceted company that does whatever it’s owner wants, having many subsidiary companies under its control. Gambling, movies, card games, electronics, real estate, you name it!

Mikhael Ka-Shing appeared overnight with a great fortune to fund his enterprises, rumors say he earned it by gambling, giving him the moniker of “the most skillful man alive” as he often says that luck is a skill. He’s one of the most despised people in the world by most of the influential groups in the country. Still, very little is known about his personal life.

Now pertinent to the chart, Aurora starts talking about all of Ka-Shing’s connections and these strange groups he’s attached to. They are known as the Five Heavenly Pillars, the 5 wealthiest families in all of Prancijan: von Riegel, Price, Koroma and 2 more who are unknown to the public, but it’s not difficult to guess Ka-Shing is one of those.

Wait, is this all a guess? Most of these are conjectures, but Howie doesn’t have anything to back up this claim. You ask Aurora if she can tell you more about this supposed connection, but she has nothing else to say but what she just told you. Iffy, maybe all this information should be taken with a grain of salt…

Anyway, the Five Heavenly Pillars were part of the original group of businessmen that backed up Gordon Jr.’s coup against his father, and bought over the domestic enterprises the country had at the time, as Prancijan’s wealth was largely funded by the public industries. Slowly, this group started to shrink due to the mysterious disappearances and deaths of its members and their entire families, until only these 5 families were left – and they, obviously, bought the companies that were left without owners. And even more painfully obvious, they amassed a stupidly large sum of wealth.

Maximum Price, Nigel Koroma and Beatrice von Reagel are the three people attached to Ka-Shing. And the guy directly attached to Maximum Price is his little brother Aleister, they have a huge age gap between them…

So that means Ruby’s family is a lot more important than you originally thought! How the fuck did she go to the same college as Osgood!? Maybe you underestimated Osgood a little bit… Wouldn’t mean that Ajna is super smart as well? Or maybe this is a bunch of rich kid talk your poor ass doesn’t get? You’re still in high school, who can blame you really?

Wait, why is this important to the flame war? Also, you would expect them to be attached to the President as well, but something weird is going on here. You ask Aurora about this and for the first time she tells you something that isn’t just a guess! The Five Heavenly Pillars and the President have broken ties several years ago as they are fundamentally against Gordon Jr.’s policies these days but don't have any other type of animosity.

Now you ask again what it has to do with the Flame War, and Aurora tells you that these are the people responsible for funding a secret project with Ka-Shing. You ask her to elaborate but she has nothing. Shame. It’s hard to believe that all these super-rich people are joining forces for something like this knowing that von Riegel is with the cult anyway… Wait, this doesn’t take that into account either! How reliable is this information?!

You can’t blame Aurora for this though, so all this frustration must remain in your head.

As for the other stuff, you remember Osgood telling you about Lise’s mom and Ka-Shing working together so it isn’t that surprising. Something Howie doesn’t know with certainty.

YUNG-P works for Ka-Shing’s Idol agency, so that’s why they’re connected. Why does Ka-Shing have an idol agency? Because he’s Ka-Shing. It says that they’re friends as well, but that could mean anything at this point!

Oh and Barry is Barry, who cares? Well, you shouldn’t talk about him like that, there is a little excerpt about him but you don’t care enough to pursue it just yet – maybe you’ll ask when you have more time to kill.

“Thank you, Phil!” Aurora gets excited to hear some answers, she looks around for another one of her notebooks. “I’ve been wondering, was this all helpful to you? For, like, stopping the cult, and not just to help me.”

“Surprisingly yes, your brother knew far more than I anticipated.” Kinda your fault for underestimating him... he’s still garbage though.

“That's such a relief.” Aurora looks away for a second then back at you.

“I think I’m going to go all in with you, Phil.” Aurora giggles. “I have tons and tons of questions like what your superpower is, but we’re short on time. I’m just happy knowing you’re the real deal for now.”

It seems you can’t stop underestimating Dewitts today since Aurora is far more pragmatic than you anticipated upon listening to your suggestions, not to say she didn’t look troubled listening to the possible beat downs he would receive, but she still saw them as reasonable actions you could potentially take. Which shows you how terrible Howie has been to her and how fearful she is of him…

“Phil, I’ll do anything to stop Howie. The more I hesitated, the worse things got – and my mom disappearing that day was the last wake-up call I needed.” Aurora is determined. “You said we can wake him up from the coma anytime we want, right?”

Ultimately we will have to go against Ka-Shing in this quest. This is an inevitability, as he is the leader of one whole faction in this war, and he stands in Johnny's way of gaining the final prize of complete control used for preventing others from fucking the planet up as well as the demon realm the flame entities come from. Once the time comes, will we be able to take him out? Remember that for each job we do for him, he most likely benefits more than Johnny might, though if Ka-Shing loses power or control over the war, that void will quickly be filled by another faction somehow. The question here is "Can Johnny keep the power balance in this war to a sane level without running himself ragged trying to multitask and balance too many plates at once?" Remember that the entire country is occupied by N.U. Forces at this time, the lenient dictatorship is effectively neutered, and Lloydington is running his own schemes during all this, not to mention other rogue factions and third parties and solo fighters out there.

Judgment Day 1 ended already. Round 2 is going to begin real soon if it hasn't already, though I might be misremembering. When it does, there will be new people getting flame entities. The whole capital city of Pokyo Lokyo is like 3/4ths empty from the mass diaspora of the population in the wake of the mass Crimzone and subsequent armed takeover of the nation. The few people that have decided to stand their ground and hold onto what residences and things they still have are facing understandable stresses. Who's to say how many new flame users can come of this widespread unrest and upheaval, since flame entities are actively drawn towards people at the end of their ropes - literally too?

When was this, and to where? He has an entity still, doesn't he? Wouldn't his entity, Qilin, be against his host simply up and abandoning the war for ultimate power? Or maybe they came to the human world searching for a host initially for reasons other than winning the war? Every entity has their own motivations and goals independent of their hosts, which I still cannot get over how good it is. His piece wasn't stolen but divided and scattered, some shards we know are stolen (we even stole a couple) but we don't know about all of them. “Be upfront and honest about this, don’t hold anything back. I know he’ll listen to you.” You believe in Aurora, she handles her siblings pretty well from what you’ve seen. “If he dismisses you and feels threatened, throw me a signal.”

“I do, Phil.” Aurora understands the situation perfectly, you can tell it isn’t easy for her to even think about hurting her own brother, but she made up her mind about Howie the moment she opened up with you on the phone. This whole situation feels awfully similar with what you went through with Amelia, when she tried to paralyze you. That had a happier ending, but this one… You have no idea. “I’m planning on bringing Howie to my room once he gets here, I’ll show you a spot where you can hide.”

“Sure, but don’t worry too much, leave all the sneaking to me.” You adjust your glasses.

You finally get inside Aurora’s room as she shuts the door tight behind her. This room is as small as yours but with a bunk bed. Uhm, most of the girls’ rooms you’ve visited are pretty shitty if you’re honest... You should keep that to yourself.

“I don’t know what’s happening to them, they are not like this at all.” Aurora shakes her head. “Oh, this is the place by the way, I keep some of my stuff in here but I cleaned up the other day so there’s enough space for you.” Aurora gets closer to the old shitty wall wardrobe. The door seems to be a little tight as Aurora is struggling to open it. “Ehm, Phil. I know it’s too much to ask but you don’t mind playing with my sisters for a lil’ bit, ri—?”

“You too…?” Aurora’s eyes start sparkling for one second in a way you’ve never seen before, then she shakes her head. “N-No, I don’t! T-These belong to my lil’ bro!” Aurora starts deflecting.

“It’s no big deal, you know?” You scratch the back of your head. Damn, now she’s making you feel ashamed of yourself.

“So? It doesn’t mean I do!” A panicking Aurora refuses to admit what, at this point, seems like the obvious truth. Aurora starts carefully picking up the cards, checking in what state they’re in and putting them back into the box. You decide to help her. “I-It’s fine, just stand there!”

“Just let me help…” You start picking them up as well. She’s behaving like she was at the beginning of your call together earlier. You don’t get why this is such a big deal...

“Fine, but just so you know I-I’m j-just panickin’ ‘cause Howie is going to get real mad at me if he finds out! These are super expensive and I don’t have any money to pay for them!” That’s one sorry excuse from Aurora.

You put the boxes back into place (and make sure that they’re not going to fall again). Aurora shows you the spot inside the wardrobe where you can hide. It’s duly noted in your mind. After calming down, Aurora apologizes for the way she treated you – you tell her that she doesn’t need to apologize for anything, and instead of running around in circles with this topic, you decide to shift it.

“By the way, I’m willing to spend some time with your siblings.” You remind her of what she wanted to ask earlier.

“Thanks, Phil!” Aurora looks even more relieved than before. “I thought they were annoying you.”

“I’m not used to the attention, that’s all.” You’re honest with her.

“Cool!” Aurora is glad to hear that. “Oh, and if you’re worried, I asked Howie to text me when he gets near here, he’ll have to knock on the door too – so we have plenty of time for you to hide!”

“Right.” You don’t have to be all alert then.

You two step out of the little room. The three girls were waiting by the kotatsu.

You ask the girls to sit side by side in one part of the kotatsu, so you can use the rest of the room for your performance. You’re also going to use this as some kind of training experiment, to see how your ability works.

You put the coin on the palm of your right hand. You close your hand, use Philonune’s ability to make it invisible, and open it again. It’s a quick motion with no time to redirect anyone’s attention somewhere else like other magicians would.

“What about now?!” You hype yourself up.

“OOOOOoooh!” Aurora and Gisella are fairly impressed.

“Ha! A classic.” Bruna is amused but not really surprised.

“Pffft… He obviously has it between his fingers.” Olivia spoils the normal trick.

You tell your partner to move around, making the coin float away to any part of the room you see fit. Then you put it back on the table in its original position.
