Last time, you lost your own evil minion for a good cause, gave clues to (hopefully) reunite a family, and learned the true nature of the world you’re currently in! Right now, you’re taking this information in as you continue your conversation with those outside it!

“Wait, when you say that it’s slower here, do you mean it’s going faster outside?!” Took a while for Scarlet to understand, but now she’s all worried.

“No, the other way around. A minute in the real world could be an hour here.” Xavi clarifies. “It’s like there is an internal clock that you have to make go slower for it to—”

“Can you just admit you were wrong?” Lise raises an eyebrow.

“I’m definitely not wrong here. It’s all abstract, who cares?” Xavi doesn’t see this as necessary.

“How can you even do that?” Lise asks the key question you all are wondering most likely. Except Scarlet. Maybe she’s thinking about ice cream or something… She’s staring daggers at you for some reason. Did she read your mind?!

“Fairy magic…? Naiad is never going to tell me.” Xavi throws a cop-out.

“It would be useful to know the conversion rate.” Matilda requests. “We have been here for more than a day and a half.”

“That much?!” Scarlet is really surprised. Lise has a silent expression of shock.

“We have been here for a long time as well.” Lise realizes.

“I don’t know, you act very impatiently.” Scarlet is being genuine.

“Sis, no bickering.” Matilda stops Lise before she can respond. D-Did she call her sis again? Why?

“If there is anything we can help with, please ask us.” Xavi is willing to help. “Knowing Phil, he probably got himself entangled into something.”

“I mean, probably helping someone out.” Scarlet has a positive view of you.

“Probably?” Lise raises an eyebrow. Hey, those three are people you helped! So ungrateful…

“Woah, that’s uncalled for.” You? Trouble? Never…

“I would like it if you could look into the events of the Orphanage of the Blue in more detail. The thing is…” Matilda explains what’s going on to them.

“You’re that far back?” Scarlet is pretty surprised. “But I’ll do it! Don’t worry! I’ll talk to Neko.”

“Naiad gave us some eject buttons to leave Dream Hill, but for us to return here, we’ll need her back.” Xavi points out. “So, if you don’t mind waiting for your escape route to be secured, we can do much more to help. You’re in no immediate danger, right? So taking your time is not an issue.”

What do you do?

>Ask them to send help! (Write-In who.)
>Ask them to wait for Naiad to secure an escape route first before doing anything.
>Ask about those Spiritual connections. Like the one from both Wilmas. Is it meaningful in any way?
>Ask them to tell Neko to search for information about everyone you know here.

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical and ignores all other rolls! In the same vein, rolling 1 means a critical failure (only for Very Hard rolls and above).

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

Don't want to ask Neko for anything more. She already regards us as owing her for the frankly fairly scant info she gave us earlier.

But once Scarlet's done her research how about they send Lise into the bubble to help and with the info. We can use her ability in downing the Orphanage.

“Can you go more in-depth about those Spiritual connections?” You inquire.

“Hold on…” Xavi asks for one second. “Naiad is explaining it to me… I need a moment to articulate it.”

“You mean you don’t get it, do you?” Lise is unimpressed again. “You don’t have to, if you try too hard, you’ll find yourself struggling and causing us a headache. ‘sides, nobody cares if you’re wicked smart or not. Right, Phil Noon? Tell ‘em how much of a dumbass you are.”

“Ehm, no.” You refuse. You have Level 4 Knowledge; you deserve some respect!

“Then you’ll have to take my word for it, everyone here has been pretty incompetent at one point. Except Sugar, she knows her stuff.” Lise crosses her arms and nods to herself, all proud.

“…” Matilda doesn’t know how to react to that.

“W-What did I do?” Scarlet doesn’t believe she has made any mistakes.

“Hostile Cutie is right, I didn’t get it, haha.” Xavi interrupts before the conversation keeps going off-topic. “But I think I grasp it.”

“What did you learn?” You put attention again.

“From what I gathered…” Xavi starts his explanation.

Souls are capable of hosting, sending, and transmitting memories, feelings and thoughts through contact via the Spiritual Energy (for lack of a better term) they send. Living beings are constantly renewing and disposing of Spiritual Energy, like air going in and carbon dioxide going out of the human body.

Like said before, Spiritual Energy is coming back and forth from the Real World and The Bubble World you’re currently in. From investigating both (Old) Wilma and (Young) Wilma, Naiad realized they both have the exact same spiritual energy, therefore both Wilmas are connected and constantly giving each other feedback.

This link is very similar to the one a host and their entity have; they are two Souls (for lack of a better term) acting/combined as one while maintaining their individuality. One of the obvious key differences is that the host and entity are sharing one body, or better put , the host is lending its body as a home for the entity, but doesn’t let it control it (in theory, anyway). Though for outside observers, it’s virtually impossible to distinguish a normal Soul from another one that has an Entity. You need incredible Spiritual Acumen to tell them apart, something Naiad lacks. But with her technology, she can tell whose energy it is if she has the data to compare.
>>
File: 2917.png (210 KB, 800x640)
210 KB
210 KB PNG
>>5002420

When Naiad says that they are giving each other feedback, she means both Wilmas are actively but unconsciously sharing with each other their thoughts, feelings, and memories. Unlike a host with its entity, who does it intentionally. In both cases, it’s undeniable that sharing can be done both unconsciously and intentionally. How each individual Wilma interprets this information is up to the individual, Naiad is not well-versed on how the human body works in regards to Spiritual Energies. Point is, you’re affecting both Wilmas by interacting with one.

“…Naiad is formulating a lot of theories as to why you two are different, and why this Yareli is only being given energy. So, I can’t be precise about the differences at the moment. Just let Naiad do her thing, and sooner than later you’ll get some answers. After those upgrades she got, her toolset has expanded.” Xavi ends his long speech explaining everything.

“What will happen if one of the linked people dies? What would happen to the other soul?” Matilda wonders.

“I’m not sure.” Xavi shrugs. “Naiad doesn’t want to think about it, sorry.”

You see the little fairy trembling at the idea. You pat her head to calm her down.

“I didn’t mean to cause any harm.” Matilda apologizes.

You know when someone dies their soul splits and shrinks until it becomes virtually dust, Constance is able to gather those little pieces to reassemble the flames as much as she can… But in this case, there is a body left.

Seems like Wilma's testing us on how this whole thing will play out in order to determine whether she'll let us help or not in the real world.

Scarlet do research on the people we know here, then send help (Lise) in with the info after she's got it. In the meantime Naiad can stay here doing her thing since she won't need to be present in the real world to let anyone back into the Field of Dreams.

You should ask about Naiad’s upgrades, talking about her cool gadgets will cheer her up!

“Naiad got more upgrades? I thought she only got one from B-WORM’s wish. Don’t tell me you’re going around fulfilling wishes now?” You smirk in a playful way.

Naiad stops being upset and raises her head, jumping in front of the screen, excited for the next topic. Matilda’s staring makes her feel self-conscious and she hides away behind your hand again.

“I didn’t mean to scare you again.” Matilda is feeling all guilty right now. After spending all day with Yareli, reading Matilda’s emotions is a walk in the park. You imagine it is still difficult for normal people to notice them.

“You know Naiad, she’s keeping all those secrets until you need them the most. I had no idea that what she’s doing right now was in the realm of possibility before Bubbles called.” Xavi gives a soft chuckle, as Scarlet is glaring at him. “She’ll break her own codes if someone is in danger. As for the new upgrades, one is from B-WORM and the other, well, I got a visit during the day from someone… peculiar.”

“Huh? You didn’t tell me about this.” Scarlet’s curiosity is piqued.

“I-It’s just a little anecdote I forgot to mention.” Xavi doesn’t think it’s important. “I got a visit from Chancellor Vivienne.”

“Vivi?!” You didn’t reveal he was part of the operation! How?! And why did she visit Xavi?!

“Vivi…?” Scarlet is puzzled.

“T-That’s what Carol calls her.” You regain your composure.

“Oh!” Scarlet doesn’t seem to mind, maybe you were reading too much into her reaction.

“Cult stuff I imagine. Nina told me something about it.” Lise knows a little. Matilda shrugs.

“Do you recall that I pretended I didn’t have an entity after, well, the fact escaped me when I was interviewed when I joined the cult? Well, during the meeting last night… She saw me with those beautiful piercing eyes.” Xavi sounds exhausted. Lise shakes her head, disappointed at Xavi’s words for some reason. “She showed up outside my apartment today, and asked me to join her cause. She’s working as an affiliate for that Ka-Shing guy. I wanted to decline, but then I recalled her wish, and Naiad got excited, so invited Vivienne in for some coffee. We chatted; she was trying to sell me on the idea hard. I don’t remember how but I sneaked the question, Naiad was out, and took the star out of Vivienne. Then before I realized, she was leaving the apartment, all content somehow.”

“Y-You didn’t agree to join, did you?” Scarlet is rightfully worried.

“N-No, I didn’t. That I can bet my life on.” Xavi denies it aggressively. “So yeah, that’s where Naiad got her new upgrade!” Didn’t Vivienne want to burn floors 9 and 10 of the Dark Church or something? You didn’t do that… That’s why wishes as a concept are abstract...
>>
>>5002508

“And how did Naiad’s ship change?” You remember the scanner showing up when she did it with B-WORM.

“I can’t recall.” Xavi is almost proud now of the fact… Naiad looks away, pretending to be embarrassed for him.

“Can you ask Naiad?” Matilda points out an easy solution.

“She wants to keep it a surprise.” Xavi still sounds proud. Naiad nods.

“20 minutes ago, you didn’t want to look like a fool, now look at yourself…” Lise glares at Xavi.

“You taught me a valuable lesson, Hostile Cutie, and I’m taking it to heart. Thank you.” Xavi is being all sarcastic now.

“As long as you two keep doing your best.” You won’t complain. Naiad poses upon hearing your words, like ‘Trust me!’.

As long as Vivienne doesn’t kill him, it’s going to be fine, right?

…right?

Bringing anyone here before securing an escape route would be massively irresponsible, right? You’ll wait for Naiad to find a way out, and you’ll request them not to do anything until that’s done.

“Sugar, we should work towards finding an exit first, right?” You ask Matilda’s opinion.

“That would be the most sensible route to go, yes.” Matilda has no objections.

“Goatee, Bubbles, and Hostile Cutie.” You wiggle your eyebrows naming Lise because you’re an idiot. “Stay still, please. We’ll work with Naiad to secure a way out.”

“You don’t want us to do anything at all?” Scarlet doesn’t know if she agrees.

“For now. As things stand, your help will be imperative for our success in our other mission.” Matilda leaves the door open for help. “Assuming that we don’t find a roadblock that you guys can lend us a hand with.”

“Whatever you two need, we got it.” Lise sounds reassuring.

“We’ll leave you be, then. Just ask Naiad if you want to contact us again, I’ll be listening to all the info she relays to me.” Xavi is ready to hang up. Naiad poses yet again.

“W-Wait, before you go!” Scarlet takes the center stage in the frame. “P-Phil, don’t forget your promise!” Yeah, cuddling together! Is it even night over there anymore…?

“Ignore her, you don’t owe her anything.” Matilda tells you to dismiss Scarlet! You nodded but Matilda put herself in the frame to hide you!

“Y-You don’t even know what I’m talking about!” Scarlet rightfully complains.

“I can tell by your face.” Matilda senses danger for you.

“That’s enough. We’ll talk later!” Xavi senses another type of danger brewing… You see Lise waving goodbye with a confident smile on her face. You wave back.

“I-I’m not do—” You hear the communication coming to a screeching halt as Scarlet’s voice gets interrupted one last time.

“…Why did you do that?” You want Matilda to explain herself.

“These last two days I’ve realized something…” Matilda looks away longingly. She can’t possibly… “Making fun of Scarlet is rather enjoyable.” Oh.

“Welcome to the team.” You want a high five.

Matilda gives you a high-five. Naiad celebrates with you two. Hooray!

You’re going to have to apologize to Scarlet later…

What now?

“Let’s find out if the officer got any clues from Wilma. She has more to work with than what I had.” Matilda is curious about it. You see no reason to object to this decision.

“Sure.” You need a glass of water after talking for so long.

With your attention elsewhere, you turn to the kitchen side of the Camper and grab a drink, at the same time, you realize that the other two finished talking as well, with Yareli patting Wilma’s back while Ms. Messy hair looks like the saddest tomato you’ve seen in a while. And by a while you mean yesterday. You and Matilda share a look, then approach the couple.

Yareli elucidates what happened during her interrogation. In short, she didn’t learn anything she didn’t know at this point except for a couple of things about the Orphanage’s layout. The truth is, comparing her notes from Ivanov with Wilma, it became apparent that Wilma was even more ostracized and focused to feel discomfort, than what Wilma originally thought. For example, all the other orphans had hot water for bathing. More details like these made Wilma depressed.

“Aw, you poor little thing.” You start your headpat treatment immediately after Yareli finishes talking.

“…!” Wilma’s morale is improving. This shows that Back patting is inferior to Head patting!

“How disappointing.” Matilda expected better news.

“It wasn’t a waste of time; I was able to corroborate all the information I gathered.” Now that Yareli’s hands are free, she starts writing in her notepad.

“Do you have the orphanage’s layout?” Matilda wants to see Yareli’s notes.

“Yes. Sit next to me, I’ll show you.” Yareli invites Matilda to work together.

…What are they planning? You don’t know what exactly you’re going to do there. Anyway, you hear someone knock on the door in an erratic rhythm.

“That’s Leo. Go open the door, Phil.” Sugar orders you around. “Please.” Okay, that’s better.

The sad tomato holds onto your back, and the two of you go open the door. And just like Matilda said, it’s Oliver! He has his own backpack on his back and a smaller handbag around his arm.

“Hey! S-Sorry about the police station.” Oliver apologizes immediately as he looks away, feeling shame.

“Don’t worry about it.” If he’s fine, you don’t care. “You need some help?”

“Nah, but hold onto this. Open it, those are for y’all.” Oliver hands you the handbag.

“What’s this?” You examine the bag; it has a bunch of letters.

“I met with Madam Moori— I mean, that Chio gal, near the Marketplace.” Oliver corrects himself. “Long story short, she gave me a bunch of letters for all of you from some chicks, including herself. I had to wait for them to write them. 4 letters for you, 4 letters for the one behind you and 4 letters for Master. Everyone is staying at her apartment just in case the Orphanage starts looking for ‘em.”

“…!” Wilma is excited about the letters!

Well, Wilma still needs to be cheered up, and what could be better than letters from her best friends? And Oliver is right, there are 12 letters here, all addressed to one of you three, with the sender being one of the missing tomatoes.

“Cool, we’ll check them out then.” You smile, a little excited about what you might read.

“Don’t expect much, they really wrote those letters in an hour or so.” Oliver eases expectations. “They told me to say that to you three.”

“By the way, what did you buy?”

“A TV.” Oliver puts it simply.

“Oh.” That explains why it’s so big. It’s a CTR! You don’t miss those clunky heavy pieces of garbage at all, but your mom did love them, so you feel nostalgic. “Here, Wilma, sort them out. I’ll help Leo with this big thing.” You hand the handbag to Wilma, and lend a hand to Oliver to move the massive TV.

“W-What in the world…?” Matilda doesn’t look too pleased about you two putting the massive TV on the floor of the camper.

“Here is the TV you wanted, Master!” Oliver smiles.

“That’s way too big for the Camper.” Matilda sighs.

“…Y-You want me to return it?” Oliver doesn’t like the sound of this.

“Yes.” Matilda doesn’t even hesitate.

“Can I catch a break first...?” Oliver looks tired.

“Fine. Don’t overwork yourself.” Matilda goes back to her professional talk with Yareli. Wilma approaches Matilda to hand the letters, which throws the fit girl into a loop for a second.

“Oh good…” Oliver folds down like a piece of paper.

“Hey, Yareli is here, by the way.” You point at her very rudely.

“Huh, why…?” Oliver doesn’t get it. Wilma gets closer to you and hands you your 4 letters.

“Uhm, you’ll have to ask her to find out. I’m gonna read my mail.” You show him the letters.

“I’ll assist him.” Yareli has a bottle of water with Oliver’s name on it, figuratively speaking.

You take a seat in what used to be the bed this morning, in the middle of both Wilma and Matilda. They already started reading their letters...

As a man denied his cheese, you know it’s possible for those strange-cheese-seeking tendencies to emerge once again in peculiar situations like these. You don’t have any idea how these are related, but… err… You’re just going to sneakily read Wilma’s letters, that’s the whole point, you’re a bad man and you should feel ashamed of what you’re about to do.

You miss your cheese and fruit…

Oh well, time to spy on a tomato. And by spying, you mean diverting your eyes just a notch to the left, where Wilma is adamantly reading the words her friends had for her. And you. Hehe. You’re evil.

The First letter belongs to Mirjam:

-My feelings are far clearer now that I pen this message to you than they were yesterrrday, even if these feelings of rrregrrret are constantly overriding my thoughts. I rrreally want to apologize to you again, Wilma. Grace and I always thought of ourrrselves as bigger sisters to you and Cookie, and when you needed us the most, we turrrned a blind eye. It’s neverrr going to happen again, I prrromise. Chio, told us about what the Orphanage of the Blue might do to us, so we’re prepared. Please don’t worry, I won’t face this with fear, but I welcome this with a firm mind, as a chance of rrredemption. I’ll do anything to prrrotect you this time. I love you, sister!

You’re so mean you added the lisp… That’s what evil is all about! Kinda takes you away from how heartfelt and nicely written this message really is… You’re really happy Mirjam and Wilma are going to be there for each other again.

The Second letter belongs to Grace:

-I bet Mirjam’s message was all sappy, wasn’t it? Of course, it was! And guess what? I feel the same way ; P. We’ll make it up to you, I promise too! But I don’t want to make another sad letter, we cried a lot yesterday, you need cheering up now! : )

You’re probably really happy spending time with Phil, aren’t you? What do you need me for, right? I bet Sugar taught you some cool stuff too. They’re really fun people. We only have Chio bossing us around here, same as always. Well, not really. A key piece is missing, you’re not here. Haha! : D. I bet Mirjam wrote something like that! So lame, isn’t she?

I hope you’re having a fun-fun time over there! Eating all the pudding you want, getting all pampered as you deserve! We ate a lot yesterday, didn’t we? You’re small, don’t eat too much or you’ll get pudgy. That’s all I have to say, love you, sis. Give everyone a big hug for me!

You feel like these two letters were supposed to be read in sequence. How awkward would it be if Wilma read Grace’s letter first? Maybe that’s why she did it in this order, she knows her family. As for Grace’s letter… She really likes to show herself as carefree, doesn’t she?

The Third letter belongs to Cookie:

-You should’ve told me. I’m still so angry I want to pinch your cheeks again. We had the hideout; we could’ve planned something, a way out like we always wanted. But whatever. I should’ve done something after seeing you acting so suspicious after my accident, I knew you weren’t yourself, you never turned down passing time with me. I was all sad about the injury. I didn’t think much of it, I didn’t want to bring you down with me. Chio said this isn’t a blame game, that it doesn’t matter whose fault this is, and we just need to help each other. I can’t buy into that. It can’t be that simple.

We’ll sort this out later, for now, I’ll be happy teasing you with Phil just like I do with you-know-who, duckface. The face you made when I was riding his back was so perfect, jealousy doesn’t fit you, Wilma. Anyway, he’s like one of them, right? But he’s actually here. Like, he’s so gentle, well-mannered and his face is... I’ve seen the way you daydream, so don’t judge me right now. We’re best of friends like Mirjam and Grace, so you don’t mind sharing him with me, right?

Tell Sugar not to be so stiff, she’s a fun girl, but she comes off a little insecure. I’m not sure if we’ll send letters to everyone, we’re just starting with you, if we did, just ignore me. Love you, Wilma.

…Wait a minute, they think about you like that?! They’re so nice! You didn’t think you could come off as this pleasant! Your mom would be proud. You don’t get the sharing part though. Maybe it’s about the backpack position? Yeah, you don’t have enough space for both. Maybe you can bridal carry one of them… Or maybe wear one as a hat! Tough decisions.

The Fourth letter belongs to Chio:

-I know you’re in a delicate situation but don’t forget about your stu—

Wilma almost trashed the letter, and shook her head. Chio’s letter was all about what she needed to do to make the best out of this situation for her future career. There is a little drawing behind the letter! A special one from Chio to Wilma! It’s cute!

“…Phil.” Matilda is glaring at you.

“Uhm?” You turn around, playing dumb.

“Were you reading Wilma’s letters?” Matilda raises an eyebrow.

“…?!” Wilma gets all flustered.

You’re using your evil persona, it’s easy to get out of this situation.

How do you respond to this accusation?

>“I was spacing out, sorry.” You have no idea how to easily get out of this situation.

“No, I was busy watching how cute Wilma is looking.” With that wonderful messy hair of hers, you might add. It’s not like you can watch her all the time, she’s always behind you!

“…!” Wilma gets all flustered and starts fidgeting!

“If you continue dropping lines like that, you’re going to get yourself in trouble, and along the way, give Wilma a heart attack.” Matilda isn’t that impressed with the way you’re deflecting it.

“I have no qualms anymore about appreciating cuteness.” You pat Wilma’s head. Again, Yu Yan’s words cross your mind about being too reserved about your feelings.

“Care to explain why you haven’t read your own letters then?” Yup, Matilda was ready to call you out unless you were completely honest.

“I just got lost in the moment, just like how I’m admiring your piercing eyes right now.” Poetry is easy, rhyming is not, you’re just bluffing, and you hope it is not for naught.

“A peculiar sight to cherish, if I may say.” Yareli interjects as she’s helping Oliver eat a sandwich.

“Not when you get used to them, you can feel kindness through them.” Oliver adds to the conversation. Both Matilda and Yareli glare at the guy, who has no other option but to look away. “I-Ignore me.” Yareli grabs his chin, and inserts more of the sandwich.

“…Hehe.” Wilma finds this humorous.

“A pretty sight nonetheless.” You add. You’re as smooth as barbwire.

“…” Matilda just keeps glaring at you like it’s a staring contest. “I’ll appreciate your flattery just this once.” Matilda goes back to reading her letters. You phew mentally.

“You’re right though, I should be reading, can’t spend all day looking at Wilma…” And that’s how you close a conversation, ladies and gentlemen, like a rat appreciating the cat’s laziness.

You shuffle the letters and pick one at random…

The First letter belongs to Grace:

-Hey Phil, it’s me, Grace! I’m no good at writing letters unlike Mirjam and Chio, but I enjoy doing them anyway! I’m wishing really hard that you have as much fun reading this as I did writing it!

I know we just met yesterday, but I feel like we’re really close, like old friends who have gone through a lot. Like what me and Mirjam said yesterday, we mean it, not because we’re trying to be nice after you helped us so much, but because we really want to be together forever, you’re special to us, to me. Yeah, it’s odd that I’m saying all of this without us ever having a one-to-one talk, but we could! And you know I’m super honest with Mirjam around, with everyone, I’m always me, so I swear I’m not hiding anything from you. Maybe it’s not normal for you, that’s why I’m saying it. I just want to be sincere with you because the times I haven’t been true to myself, I almost lost someone dear to me. I hope you have time for a little story, you always listen to me, so I don’t doubt it.

It was months ago, Good Ol’ B was gone for a while. Wilma became distant and busy, Cookie was putting her soul into her sports stuff, and Chio was out studying somewhere else. I felt like everyone was moving on without us, it was just Mirjam and me. I thought everyone was growing up, and I needed to do the same. I started dating a regular, he confessed to me one day. He was sweet for the most part, unless someone else was around, then I had to act like I was beneath him. I mean, above all, he was a regular, I needed to think about my future, so I put up with that.

Between work, dating him, and being treated like dirt, I was enjoying life no more. And on top of that, I needed to distance myself from Mirjam. My boyfriend didn’t want to be near any other leeches, it would make him look bad. Like he could take the heat for me every now and then, but both of us? It was out of the question. Despite that, Mirjam was around, prepared lunch for us, tried to be all nice, even if I kept ignoring her. My boyfriend couldn’t put up with this anymore, it was awkward and embarrassing for him, and asked me to cut ties with Mirjam. I had to think about my future… I didn’t want to do it, but Mirjam must’ve hated me at that point, right? I was so mean. It was for the best…

I remember that day, after work, in our little room, dim lights… I told her I couldn’t be her friend anymore – that she should be relieved that she didn’t have to put up with her awful friend. And Mirjam, she broke down into tears. She told me she didn’t want to be alone anymore, that she wanted to be my friend, that she didn’t care that we have to grow up, she wanted everything back to the way it was. I cried too, a lot, we made up. I broke up with my ex the next morning, and never looked back.

I can’t believe I let this happen to Wilma after going through that. It felt the same, I could see the signs, I knew everything was wrong again. I didn’t do anything. Phil, thank you for saving me from the worst part of myself, for not allowing us to lose Wilma. Now I’m not alone, I have my friends with me, and we’re never going through this again! I promise! With a lot of love, Grace!

…Sometimes you don’t realize how much your little gestures can mean to others. Yeah, you’re busting people out of their orphanage’s “cells”, so it isn’t a little thing, but… You’re just glad you did something for someone.

The Second letter belongs to Mirjam:

-Disclaimer! Please, read Grace’s letter before this one! I helped write it! Disclaimer is over! (Good thing you did.)

This is the first time I heard Grace’s part of her story. She never wanted to talk about it, I could tell she still felt guilty about how she treated me, so we never spoke a word. I just wanted her to enjoy life again and I never brought it up, I didn’t want to upset her, I didn’t want to be lonely again. But being upfront about it clarified so much. I also couldn’t tell how in-pain Grace was. Yesterday, when Wilma said she took her only chance to leave with you, ditching us all, it reminded me of those times. Where I was screaming inside for someone to save me, to take me away. I would’ve done the same as Wilma. But unlike them, I never got a chance. Why would I deserve one? I couldn’t work for one like Cookie and Chio did. I turned a blind eye when my friends needed me the most, I was the worst. Nobody wanted me. Nobody needed me. But I was wrong. Yesterday, I realized how wrong I was, when I was holding everyone around my arms. Phil, thank you. Thanks to you I have my family back. If, for even a moment, you feel lonely, unloved or uncared for. Please, look out for us, for me. I will stand by your side no matter what. I won’t let anyone I care about go unloved again. That’s my prrromise! (She actually wrote down the lisp!) Always by your side, Mirjam.

You weren’t prepared for this shit, man… but you feel happy…

The Third letter belongs to Cookie:

-No idea what Mirjam and Grace are writing, but they are crying right now, so you better get prepared for that, haha. You know my name is not actually Cookie, right?

What the fuck.” You mutter. Is it not?! She’s full of lies! LIES! You better continue reading…

Again, the Third letter belongs to Cookie:

-…My name is actually Corrine. I prefer if you call me Cookie though, I can tell you’re fond of nicknames. You’re probably wondering why everyone calls me Cookie. One of the crying messes over here is the reason, when we were little, Mirjam’s lisp was out of control. Everyone at the orphanage made fun of her for it, and when it came to my name, it was a disaster! She got stuck. Two Rs were too much. I was sick and tired of everyone making fun of her, she always treated me nicely, so when I saw a drawing of a cookie on the wall, I told her to call me that. Everyone was fuming at me when their go-to joke went away, you should’ve seen their faces, bunch of pricks.

Now, since we’re divulging secrets, you know why Mirjam and Grace are so close? When we were little, Grace actually loved when Mirjam rolled her Rs when she said her name. A match made in heaven. Funnily enough, they spent so much time together, Mirjam doesn’t struggle to say Grace’s name anymore.

Sorry for the nostalgia trip, after writing Wilma’s letter I don’t have it in me to say heavy stuff. I had to write that one like three times, I don’t know when I became so jaded, but I feel like I was pretty fair in the one I wrote last. Don’t read it though, I’m serious. Anyway, I should actually tell you something about me…

I know I was pretty awkward yesterday, I’m sorry, I’m not like this, I swear. Lately, I feel like my confidence is going up and down for no reason, I don’t know what’s happening to me. But if I was rude to you, it really wasn’t my intention. I want to know more about you, you’re such an enigma, like you came from heaven to help out all my friends. There’s so much to you. Besides, you're super funny.

I want to hang out. That’s all. Thank you for saving everyone. I know it sounds like an afterthought, but that stuff works best when you say it face-to-face. So, let’s have fun together. With care, Cookie.

You feel like you need to investigate this lying dessert a little bit more, there is an underlying issue with her you’re not seeing. Or maybe she’s being awkward because she spent a long time in her hideout… Whatever the reason is, you want to find out.

The Fourth letter belongs to Chio:

-Dear Phil Noon.

I thank you for the help you’ve provided to my family, the debt I feel towards your person is unrivaled.

With that in mind, we made a promise before such assistance was given, therefore it shouldn’t be affected. In other words, I would like to remind you of the promise you made to me about aiding me with my work. You solicited my time when you were in peril and it’s your turn to return yours in kind. If work isn’t the most preferable of outlooks, I’ll determine myself what event we will share together.

I look forward to your response.

-Chio Edamura.

We should try to dig in to what Cookie's hiding. It's fine to ask for and accept help even from people other than the Midnight Effect Crew (or whatever they are) in-disguise.

Honestly for Chio I think we should write something really heartfelt...but that's really mostly on Nariko's behalf. We can see for ourselves how much Chio cares, but she just can't come out with it in the ways that make it felt for those she's helping/trying to help.

Or maybe that's better done in person, on the date she asked us out to in her letter.

I wonder what Nariko's face will look like when she learns we went on a date with her mom when we still haven't actually answered her own confession of love...

I'm going to call out some weird stuff in Cookie's letter.

“Do we have the time to write responses?” You propose as you put Chio’s letter down. “I feel like I have to.”

“…I want to do it too!” Wilma turns into a giggling machine just thinking about writing them back.

“There should be some paper around.” Matilda doesn’t have an issue with this. She probably wants to do it as well but she’s pretending to be casually disinterested.

“…Y-You don’t mind, right, Officer Yareli?” Wilma asks for permission from the law enforcer.

“As this town’s police officer, there is nothing that would please me more if you make their day.” The expressionless Yareli is sure of it. From what you gathered, she has a good relationship with the tomatoes, you don’t know why exactly, but she cares about them a great deal. And from your own perception, it seems to extend with the majority of the townsfolk. “Now, I must resume my duty.” Yareli is helping Oliver drink some water…

“Well then.” Matilda has never seen anyone treat Oliver this well before. The stoic girl starts handing you the stuff necessary for you to express your message. “I noticed how emotional you looked.”

“Eh? Me?” You don’t know what she’s talking about. You always maintain your cool no matter what the situation is.

“Don’t try to hide it.” Matilda is trying to be… nice? “They write rather touching words.”

“That they do.” You grab the stuff, Matilda has been acting differently than usual since you got here.

“…Do you like writing letters, Phil?” Wilma is curious about you.

“Ehm, I’m not sure? This is my first time.” You’ve written a lot of great text messages like “K.” and… huh…

“I understand they are different but I would’ve thought you've sent duel letters.” Matilda raises an eyebrow.

“W-What are you talking about?” You really have no clue.

“I could’ve sworn you have…” Matilda thinks of you as a delinquent. Or is it something normal to her?

“Uhm… Just pour your heart out and it will be easy.” Wilma wants to help! It’s good advice. But you have no idea what to say…

How do you respond to the different letters? What ideas do you want to convey?

>Be nice, sincere, and friendly! Like you’ve always been!
>Playfully tease them a little! After all the sadness, maybe a little fun will cheer them up.
>Talk about yourself a little. Don’t go into extreme specifics. They opened up to you, so you’ll open up to them!
>Write In.

How do you respond to Chio’s letter?

>“Don’t be lazy, we’ll do work.”
>“Yeah, it’s up to you what we do.”
>“Chio, I probably won't be here to do any of this. Sorry.”
>Write In.

Okay, I think maybe i get it. Cookie was going hella into sports stuff, even at the expense of her friends, and then she got injured and it all came to nothing. It seemed familiar because I've had something similar happen. It's the loss of confidence you get when you throw your all into something, are quite successful with it, begin to invest more heavily into it with certain anticipations about the future (in this case likely at the expense of time she'd usually spend with Wilma and co.)...only for it all to come crashing down.

I don't really know what you call that. I just recognize something similar from when my personal dreams have been shattered in the past. Poor girl, dunno what can be done to help someone fix it other than point out that they made their dreams into a possibility once, they can do it again.

"Cookie, I haven't known you long and we haven't hung out much yet...but I think I might feel something from you that reminds me of times I've been through in the past. This one time I did my best (to be fair, I was also being really dumb) and all it got was my only family to try to forcibly put me into a coma after I'd barely recovered from the brink of death.

It really sucks to see your hard work seem to be for nothing. I know, I've been there. At that time though, someone stuck by me and kept believing in me even though I'd brought those consequences with my own actions. He said something to me that helped me pick myself up and keep going...but it's not really applicable here, so instead let me tell you something I think will help.

You caught sight of your dreams and worked to put them within reaching distance once. Even if it didn't work out, that's all the proof you need that you can do it again!

Or maybe I don't know you at all since I've only hung out with you for a few hours, and none of what I just said resonates with you. We'll hang out as soon as we can. It's not just your friends that I want to help, you know.

The girls opened up to you, so you feel it’s fair if you open up to them in return! You can’t go into specifics without outing yourself, but you think you can find the sweet spot between not revealing too much and being open. With the Knowledge that you have, there are no problems expressing yourself in the way you want while keeping perfect grammar as you write this down.

You wrote special bits for Grace and Mirjam, but you decided to take another direction with Cookie, you feel like you’re familiar with the issue she’s engulfed in. The one about knowing how much it sucks putting so much effort into something and then it not working out. You were lucky to have someone be there and pick you up, so you want to be there for her – because it’s not over yet, she was close to reaching her dreams! And if she did it once, she can do it again. And in case you’re all wrong ‘cause you just met her and you’re assuming too much, then… uh, you can hang out! Because you want to help her too! Yeah, that sounds good!

And finally, you write that it's up to Chio what you will do when you get to that date. Yeah, these are ready!

“Are you done as well?” Matilda asks you for your letters.

“Y-Yeah.” You hand them to Matilda. Her timing spooked you!

“You took a while.” Matilda puts them inside the handbag Oliver was carrying earlier. “I’ll accompany Oliver to the store, and to send these. I can’t stand being locked up all day. As long as one of us stays with Wilma, it’s going to be fine.” So, you’re staying, huh?

“I’m on guard duty, then.” You salute your fitness teacher. Matilda nods.

“Night is falling, don’t be out for long.” Yareli wants safety above all else.

“…T-Thank you.” Wilma says to both Oliver and Matilda for delivering the letters as she hands over hers to the Sweet girl.

“We’ll be back before you realize.” Matilda grabs the bag with the heavy TV.

“Yes, our parting will be short-lived, that, I promise.” Oliver cackles as he walks out of the Camper. Matilda trails behind him…

You’re left with Wilma and Yareli. If your memory serves you well, Yareli doesn’t have a shift today.

You overplayed your hand using your invisibility for the whole Garden Shop debacle, so taking a break is the best move you can do for your health and mind. It’s been a long day, and even if reading and writing letters is fun, your mind juices are all spent.

Awoop…” You cover your mouth as you yawn. “…What a day.”

“You’re tired?” Wilma wonders as she stands right in front of you.

“Yeah…” You scratch your face.

“Rest then.” Yareli feels like it’s her turn to watch you sleep.

“…What were you doing while we were writing our letters, officer Yareli?” Wilma tilts her head.

“I’m scribbling a map of the Orphanage of the Blue and the schedule of its members, just in case. Verify it later to make sure I didn’t make any mistakes.” Yareli is still writing on her notepad.

“…You haven’t finished it?” Wilma takes a hint from the way Yareli was expressing herself.

“I’m afraid not. I’m putting the pieces you gave me together with Ivanov’s information. It’s not as easy as it seems, a lot of backtracking is necessary.” Yareli continues writing.

“Your notepad goes that far back?” You don’t think it’s big enough to have everything if she writes frequently in it.

“I have more than one.” Yareli takes two out of her sleeves. You won’t even question it, but as a fellow magician, that trick looked good.

“T-That’s amazing.” Wilma is incredulous about what just happened. Does she like magic tricks? Or is it something about Yareli’s mannerisms? Either way, Wilma is more confident talking today than yesterday, which is great! Yareli is as stoic as ever, so Wilma turns to you. “…D-Do you want some tea, Phil?”

“Sure.” Might as well get a little comfy, no? You’re no uncomfy king anymore. Wilma walks to the stove and grabs a teapot.

“I’ll head home soon. I don’t think we’ll accomplish much tonight.” Yareli informs you.

“You want to leave?” You ask as you receive your tea. “Thanks, Wilma!” Delicious. Do you even have room for Yareli to stay here? It’s not like the Cult is actively tracking her. “Is it safe for you?”

“I’ll stay at the Station if that worries you.” Yareli is open to alternatives. She might feel unsafe herself. “I’m not planning on leaving until your friends are back. I recommend you take a nap.”

“Do I look that tired…?” You ask for Wilma’s opinion.

“N-No.” Wilma shakes her head rapidly.

“It’s just a recommendation.” If Yareli was able to express any emotion, you think she really wants to see you asleep.

“S-Should I turn on the radio?” Wilma is looking for some light entertainment.

“I would gladly listen to the news.” Yareli makes this option boring.

A short rest would be useful if this was a DnD campaign. But it’s not one!

“I guess we’re listening to the news…” Who could’ve thought that the person that shows no emotions could choose to do something you consider boring? Imagine that.

“Thank you.” Yareli doesn’t look really really happy that this choice was made, but you think that somewhere deep inside her, she’s smiling.

“But, before we get to listen to them, I can’t make any promises without Sugar and Leo’s approval, but I think you should stay here with us in the Camper.” You propose to the ever-vigilant cop. “I’m not sure you staying anywhere else is safe. Your house is an obvious target, you don’t trust the people at the station, and if one word of what happened in the shop gets out – they’ll start looking for you.”

That’s out of the question.” Yareli doesn’t agree with your logic. “I can look for another place if the alternatives I have don’t suffice.”

“You can be on the run from town, but you want to help Ivanov, right?” You grab your famous lock of hair.

“You’re correct. This isn’t about me.” Yareli should look guilty. “Nonetheless, I’ll try to look for other options.”

“Maybe you can stay with Officer Kobashi!” Wilma really trusts the dessert-making cop! She proposes this with conviction.

That’s out of the question.” Yareli feels strongly about this too. You think. “I think we should seek his help, but not in this manner.”

“…W-Why not?” Wilma’s confidence is shot again.

“As I said, I can look for other options.” Yareli is being stubborn for unknown reasons. “Please, turn on the radio, it will help me think this through.”

“It’s already on.” You point out as Wilma changes stations until she finds one delivering the news.

-You were unable to catch the News Anchor’s name, but here is the news! There is no news, you’re on commercials already. How annoying.

-It’s not exactly news, but a Station of Play commercial just aired. Just Station of Play. No numbers. No 5, 4, 3 or 2. Nothing. That’s just crazy for your mind to think about.

-There is a meeting right now at the Government Palace. President Gordon called for one with every important figurehead in the country. Something that has never been seen before, at least, publicly.

-The mysterious criminal known as Houda Lan struck again today! The mysterious figure’s victim this time was the Ugolino Clan, stealing their renowned Emerald Necklace. The police are still unable to find any clues yet about what happened to it. But it was leaked that Houda Lan left a note at the crime scene, specifying that this misdeed was nothing but a warm-up, that he’s interested in stealing the ultimate treasure of the Price Family, another less-known wealthy family. A treasure that’s not in their owner’s hands. It’s speculated he’ll be back at Baochang, but not in which city exactly. The Ironheart, von Riegel, and many more high-society families have put a bounty on this enigmatic thief, 15 million Gor$ is at stake now.

-A World-wide Science Symposium will be held in Pokyo Lokyo. The greatest scientific minds from all over the world will gather for a month, all sponsored by the government. There will be a special section that will be held near the coast, as many scientists expressed interest in learning and studying the Monster Ring. Sounds neat. But…

-Strangely, there is no mention of the Subway incident from this morning…

-Now, the sports news begins…

“Kobashi’s suspicion was correct, it’s just that Houda Lan couldn’t find it yet.” Yareli should be acting surprised right now.

“…That’s the Phantom Thief that he is desperately trying to capture, right?” Wilma wants confirmation. “I always forget the name…”

“Indeed. And if Kobashi is right… He’ll show up around here soon.” Yareli can’t believe it.

“Here?” You raise an eyebrow.

“Don’t stare at me with those sparkling eyes, you two. I don’t know all the details, it’s something he mentioned to me offhand.” Yareli eases your expectations.

“Any reason he’s chasing after this person?” You forgot if you ever asked.

“To get promoted. To get the force to work on the case we’re dealing with right now.” Yareli reveals! That guy seems to work too much…

“Mr. Kobashi…” Wilma looks down, feeling guilty about this.

You hear some noise outside; Oliver and Matilda must be back!

What do you do?

It’s better if you start preparing dinner, everyone must be hungry with how late it is. You ask for Wilma’s assistance in the smallest of kitchens! As always, she’s delighted to help. Yareli wasn’t comfortable taking the reins in this operation and is letting you do as you please. This is going to be so odd-looking to you, because Philonune, San Wich, and Naiad are working together to secure your escape route, and for that, they are examining Wilma right now. They all look goofy over Wilma… You would keep watching, but Wilma turns tomato for some reason.

As you take a look at the refrigerator to determine what to cook, those who went outside unlock the camper’s door, and are welcomed with the sweet aroma of nothing. Because you haven’t cooked anything yet. You ask them if they want anything in particular, to which Oliver responds by asking for some steak, which you don’t mind making.

Matilda hands you a bunch of items. Among them, a letter with Chio’s response, kitchen gloves, and homemade cookies. You put everything but the gloves away for now, you’re going to use this pair to cook. The cookies were made by Mirjam and Cookie, and the gloves were handmade by Grace. Certainly, they’re not from who you were expecting these gifts to come from.

Wilma got gifts as well, a scarf, a sweater, a cap and a brush… You didn’t catch which gift came from who except for the Brush (Chio).

Matilda informed you that the girls over there want a group pic together! They (Matilda, Oliver, and the Tomatoes) already took a picture, but it wasn’t developed yet. You think that would be fun.

Oliver is getting help from Yareli to install the new TV. It’s much, much, smaller than the previous one. CRTs are still obnoxiously big regardless…

You can’t keep putting things on hold, you ask Matilda to convince Yareli to stay at the camper if she can. Matilda doesn’t oppose the idea and will try her best. Also, you tell her you’re planning on discussing what to do next to deal with the Orphanage after dinner. Matilda nods, no objections from her again. You continue cooking as Matilda approaches the TV technician duo…

During dinner, with the help of everyone, you peer-pressured Yareli to stay. She had two conditions, one was to inform Kobashi, and the other was to make a quick visit to her house to get some belongings. It was non-negotiable, and with an overwhelming majority in favor, you accepted her demands. Matilda offered to walk over there with Yareli, but you reminded her you’re on a Camper and can drive there. Hopefully, you won’t regret it because MATILDA DOESN’T HAVE A DRIVER’S LICENSE. WHAT IF YESTERDAY WAS DUMB LUCK?! YOU’RE NOT SCARED (Courage Level 5) BUT YOU CAN HAVE YOUR DOUBTS! IT’S NORMAL WITH THE AMOUNT OF COMMON SENSE YOU HAVE (Knowledge Level 4)! You calm your nerves with Wilma’s delicious tea.

And yes, everyone loved your dinner! The only one who didn’t look thrilled was Yareli, and you know the reason why! It’s painfully obvious why after spending all day with her together: SHE HATES YOUR FOOD!

“So, the plan.” You adjust your glasses, time to get serious.

“We’ll have this discussion after we visit Yareli’s home, in case something happens.” Matilda gets in the driver’s seat.

“Indeed.” Yareli is on the same page as Matilda. She sits on the co-pilot seat. You relax a little, the good officer will keep an eye on you all.

You really want to ask Oliver if he can drive. But, if you put even the slightest suspicion that Matilda is unable to, Yareli will be set off… You’ll trust your Martial Arts Master!

You think you have a tiny little bit of time to do whatever you feel like before the Yareli stuff is dealt with.

And, well, there is a new TV!

What do you do?

>Watch an old-timey drama from this period! Make Nariko proud!

Maybe you need some background noise to relax a bit, you can’t lie to yourself and think you’re all well rested just because you ate something. You grab the TV remote on top, and start surfing the channels. The reception is not that great, but high-definition TV wasn’t invented yet, so it’s not like it matters. You sit on a comfy seat with Wilma by your side and continue surveying around.

“What are we gonna watch?” Oliver will be your TV pal too.

“Not sure.” You continue pressing the buttons to see an image worth stopping at. “Any ideas, Wilma?”

“…Me? We all gathered together at the old orphanage, but I never got the remote to pick. And I wasn’t allowed to watch it at the new one.” Wilma reveals more of her sad backstory.

“But what did you watch back then?” You raise an eyebrow.

“…A little bit of everything. There was this Quiz show, it was really fun because we played along, and whoever guessed right the most, ended up picking what we watched the next day.” Wilma has nice memories of her difficult childhood.

“You were spectacularly bad at it if you never got the remote!” Oliver chuckles to himself. Wilma almost looks in shock.

“…I-I actually… Uhm… never spoke up when I won.” Wilma shakes her head. Oliver looks pleasantly surprised.

“Woah!” You believe Wilma is too nice to exist. You want to pat that messy hair!

I kept my silence for desserts.” Wilma has a dastardly look on her face. Welp, there are no good Tomatoes…

“Let’s find a Quiz show then...” That sounds like exactly what you were thinking of. You surf through the minuscule number of channels until you find what you were looking for. It’s some sort of Quiz Show called Mr. Excitement: Going Up and Down! It’s elevator-themed, it’s kinda neat. Too bad you’re going to read Chio’s letter first:

-Dear Phil Noon.

Since you’ve decided on your own volition that I’ll be tasked to decide on what our activity shall be. I believe we should attend a restaurant together tomorrow, so you can experience what a truly wonderful meal is like. Whether it is for lunch or dinner is up to you.

I look forward to your response.

.-Chio Edamura.

PS: In case there are any leftovers, do not give them to Cookie.

As short and distant as the last one. It doesn’t look like Oliver or Matilda will help you deliver your message back. So the only way to respond to Chio is by calling her… Should you? You noticed that Matilda and Yareli are out of the camper. It seems you arrived faster than you thought, maybe her house wasn’t that far from where you were.

…Anyway.

How do you respond to Chio?

You gotta do what you gotta do. You tell both Wilma and Oliver that you’re going to make a short call to Chio. Both nod without saying much, too busy watching the quiz show, Oliver watches with excitement, while Wilma doesn’t look too pleased. Makes you curious, but you have something else to do.

You pick up the phone, look through the list of numbers you got the last two days, and dial Chio’s. While you wanted to have some fun with this, Chio sounds a tiny bit sleepy, so you just said to her that you prefer if you go for dinner tomorrow. After a few seconds, for mysterious reasons, and upon the realization she’s talking to you, Chio’s energy came back to her! She talked like a Nariko when she’s all happy before eating your food, until she regained her composure. It was cute while it lasted…

The time (QM Note: it’s flexible, but night), the place (The Modern Flavor), and the dress code (you can’t use your oversized hoodie…) were determined. You know how to get to this restaurant, but you could ask Yareli in case you forget. You wrote it all down on the other side of Chio’s letter, you had to improvise…

From afar, you hear the other girls realizing Chio is talking to you and they all start shouting some stuff to get your attention (mainly Cookie and Grace). Chio’s patience runs thin, and yells at them, then apologizes and hangs up. At least, you told her to say hi to all of them… You hope the grumpy bigger sister informs them.

“I’m back.” Matilda is here!

“Where’s the officer?” Oliver asks before you do.

“She’s talking with Kobashi. She said it was personal, so I left. They are 3 houses away.” Matilda points at the front, you can clearly see those two talking…

“…I-I want to thank Mr. Kobashi. Can I go? It’ll o-only take a moment.” Wilma feels like she has a debt to pay.

“If Sugar left, I don’t think they’ll want you there just yet.” You ask for patience from your tomato as you pet her messy head.

“Yeah, he’s right. Trust me, I’m experienced in being unwanted like a bastard dog.” Oliver says something sad…

“Stop being so negative.” Matilda believes in her student!

“Yeah… I need to start being more positive! Like Sca— I mean, our redhead friend!” Oliver nods to himself.

“Don’t go too far.” Matilda has a duty to correct her students… “What an uneventful day.”

To her, maybe. You lost your cheese…

As soon as Yareli is back, it will be time to discuss your plan to get rid of the Order of the Blue.

As far as you know, Kobashi said you need to find some key documents for him to deal with the Orphanage legally. But judging by Yareli’s problem, dealing with the Order of the Blue might need another solution, there are brainwashed kids involved, shady deals, blackmailing, and maybe more. You don’t know how far this goes… Your group needs to figure out how to approach this.
>>
>>5011023

From which angle should you tackle this?

>Get those Key Documents and get rid of the Orphanage of the Blue. The key element of their scheme is that very place.
>Find the connections The Order of the Blue has and get rid of them, just like you did with Chewnette. Leave them powerless to continue existing. They must have ties with the Police and the School still.
>Confront Ophelia Bruun, the mastermind behind all of this. You’ll get everything you need from her directly, and you’ll teach her a lesson she’ll never forget.
>Write In.

Let's do this first, in order to throw them into disarray as they no longer have access to the resources they're used to having in order to cover up their dirty deeds. After that we can ID the Key Documents they have and grab them.

You shoot the breeze with everyone to pass the time until Yareli comes back. You even catch a glimpse of the quiz show you ignored before in its last few moments, you feel like some of the contestants look familiar but you can’t put your finger on it. Oliver described the show as a train wreck from beginning to end as one of the celebrity participants was completely wasted, Wilma agreed on all fronts, but you can tell Oliver enjoyed the crash, while Wilma felt second-hand embarrassment.

Someone knocks on the door and it doesn’t take a genius to realize it’s the cop girl! But she’s not alone, Kobashi is with her. As apologetic as she can sound (which is not at all), Yareli excuses herself for bringing the noisy policeman here, he’s so pushy he ended up here. You all know him, so it’s no biggie to you. But you know, you find it kinda weird that he’s everywhere…

“Sorry! Sorry for intruding! I needed to make sure Yareli was in good hands! She deserves nothing but the best!” Kobashi is trying to ease the atmosphere his angel brought down.

“We assured you the Camper is a decent place to stay...” Matilda cannot help but to sound weary.

“Yeah, the thing is, Sugar, you weren’t your usual cheery self, so I got a little concerned. I had to ask Yareli if I could come over.” Kobashi admits this was all a lie! “But I know exactly what will cheer you up! Here, I have a lollipop! You mentioned how much you liked sweets!”

“…” Matilda grabs it almost against her will. “T-Thank you, you didn’t have to.”

“Sorry, it ain’t ice cream. But if I was prepared, I would’ve brought you some!” Kobashi starts patting Matilda’s head, leaving her blindsided by her messy hair. “You can count on me if you need anything!” Kobashi pulls more lollipops out of nowhere. “Now, you don’t have to be jealous, Yareli! I have more for everyone!”

“…” Similarly, Yareli grabs one too almost against her will. “I appreciate it.”

“Are they poisoned or something…?” Oliver doesn’t understand the vibes of those two girls.

“One way to find out.” You adjust your glasses. You kinda want one…

“Officer Kobashi!” Wilma is delighted to see him. “…I-I mean…” Wilma gets all self-conscious.

“Wilma! You!” Kobashi got excited. “Don’t stop! That’s the Wilma I remember! Minus the messy hair.”

“…?!” Wilma doesn’t know how to respond to that.

“I know, you wanted one as well. Here.” Kobashi hands another lollipop. Wilma is in even better spirits now! Kobashi pats her tomato head, messing with her hair so much she’s blindsided by it.

“Can I have one?” You ask now that he’s gifting them all away.

“Do you really want one…?” Oliver is still wary.

“Phil! Take one, please!” Kobashi is delighted to give you one! “You have worked hard helping everyone here, you deserve it.”

“C-Can I have one too?” Oliver changes his mind.

“Didn’t you reject the other one I tried to give at the prison, Mr. Major? I thought you didn’t like sweets.” Kobashi puts his hand on his chin.

“Y-Yareli told me to. She said p-prisoners don’t deserve them…” Oliver throws Yareli under the bus.

“You’re a reformed criminal, you’re free to consume whatever you please. Just be mindful about your health.” Yareli won’t deter him from eating the lollipop.

“B-But I-I’m no criminal. It was a misunderstanding!” Oliver feels offended.

“Yes, your supposed mysterious appearance at the rooftop...” Kobashi recalls very well. “Which is no mystery anymore to me. Officer Yareli told me everything about you three, my time traveler fellows.”

“It would’ve been nice if you said a word to us.” Matilda doesn’t appreciate what Yareli did.

“Again, I apologize. But I vouch for him and his word. He won’t tell a soul.” Yareli bows her head.

“…Y-Yes, I vouch for Mr. Kobashi too!” Wilma got weirdly loud for this.

“Y-You should be careful with that; this is how rumors spread…” You don’t want everyone to know.

“We know the man, but he’s the boisterous type. I don’t know if it was a good idea for him to know.” Matilda has well-founded issues with this.

“N-No, we don’t, he only offered me candy twice...” Oliver believes you’re jumping ahead. Kobashi gave you the super recipe though.

“I understand what you’re saying, Sugar. But the truth is, I’m a man of many secrets. Some so obscure that not even a ray of light has been cast upon them.” Kobashi tries hard to sound deep.

“…!” Wilma is curious!

“Do you want us to test you?” Matilda raises an eyebrow.

“Feel free.” Kobashi opens his arms wide. He has nothing to hide… Wait, but the whole point is that he’s capable of hiding something… “Ask away. I’m willing to reveal even my darkest secrets!”

“He’s not joking.” Oliver seems impressed. Tryhards like each other…

You need to play this 15 steps ahead! You’ll be so ahead that you’ll appear like you’re last! Genius, indeed. And you have the perfect question to get this game rolling…

“Kobashi, I have one question for you.” You tap your forehead to show how serious you are.

“What is it?” Kobashi didn’t expect you to be this serious.

“Tell us… Tell us about the person who betrayed you!” You rudely point with conviction!

“Ah?” Kobashi looks mighty confused.

“Hmph, you were wondering the same thing…” Oliver plays along. It feels nice to have some backup. “Yes, Kobashi, if that’s your real name, we want to know everything about it!”

“I don’t have the faintest idea of anything of the like ever happening to him.” Yareli should look perplexed.

“I believe they are making this up.” Matilda isn’t taking you two seriously.

“Do you believe I would randomly throw this kind of question without anything to back it up?” You respond with defiance. She’s right though, you’re a fraud.

“Officer Kobashi, please answer the question.” Wilma is on your side on this. She’s too curious even if it doesn’t make sense to be!

You, Oliver, and Wilma will get to the bottom of this! You know it!

“You of all people, Wilma?” Matilda is displeased by Wilma’s conviction. Wilma responds firmly by hiding behind you in fear.

“Kobashi is incapable of hiding something like this, less so not sharing with me at any point.” Yareli will strongly defend her dear friend.

“No. Yareli. They’re correct.” Kobashi comes forward. “Am I an important agent in the future or something? Is that how you know?” No, he’s not. You never heard anything about him before!

“I can’t say.” You adjust your glasses. You’re such a fraud.

“You’re being facetious.” Matilda knows you too well. “But now that we’re here, I would like to know as well.” In the end, she’s pushing for Kobashi to talk too! “If you’re playing along with them, I won’t forgive you, officer.”

“Don’t be so humorless, my sweet madam. I would never do such a thing.” Kobashi sounds like you. This means that he’s also making stuff up… “The bitter truth is that the person I once called my best friend stabbed me in the back when I least expected it.”

“I already apologized for keeping the truth about Ivanov.” Yareli looks away in obvious discomfort… You think. You know, she’s still Yareli…

“N-No, not that. Yareli, you did what you thought was best. I will never ever consider that a betrayal. A misstep? Maybe. But betrayal? You had me in your thoughts the whole time, if anything, even calling it a misstep is too harsh.” Kobashi refuses to put Yareli down.

“…” Yareli nods.

“Officer Kobashi, what happened?” Wilma wants to find the bitter taste of truth.

“In my youth, I—”

“You’re in your 20s.” Yareli interrupts Kobashi without hesitation.

“T-That’s not the point! I’m not young anymore! I’m 28!” Kobashi looks in shock! You hope Nina never hears that.

“You’re 30.” Yareli shakes her head. “You should be 2 years older because of a registration mistake, shouldn't you?”

…..Could you not right now?” Kobashi looks devastated about being 30… Or presumably 30. “Ehem, me and my best friend used to take pastry classes after school. We were really good, the best in our class, in school, anywhere we went really – we were top draw! We were GODS!”

“Don’t exaggerate.” Matilda isn’t amused. Doesn’t she say her burgers are the best in the whole galaxy or something stupid?

“I can do what I want, it’s my backstory!” Kobashi gets pissed. “You’re nothing like yesterday, you’re like an entirely new person, Sugar!”

“Her bubbly personality is gone…” You shake your head.

“Just continue with your story.” Yareli doesn’t want to hear anyone that isn’t a 30-year-old police officer.

“Oh yes, the betrayal. Yeah, my best friend stole my formula the day before the contest and—”

“W-What contest? O-Officer Kobashi, I think you skipped ahead…” Wilma interrupts Kobashi upon the realization.

“I-I did?!” Kobashi looks in shock again…

“You spoiled the most important bit; the story is ruined.” Matilda is disappointed.

“I-It is?!” Kobashi can’t believe this.

“This makes me appreciate how good you were with your backstory, Leo.” You praise your friend.

“Hey, thanks! That means a lot coming from you.” Oliver’s day has been made.

“Was the contest even important?” Yareli asks.

“Yeah, you would get a scholarship to become a chef…” Kobashi answers. “But my friend took it from my fingers without any remorse. The bastard!”

“…Did you even want to be a chef?” Wilma asks a good question.

“No, but still!” Kobashi won’t stop feeling betrayed.

“You always wanted to become a Police Officer?” Your turn to ask.

“Yes. Kinda. I want to help people. My job is not always about it, but it puts me in a position to make a difference!” Kobashi explains himself.

“Oh yeah, of course, his name is Gerard Luther.” Kobashi smiles.

“W-W-Wait WHAT?!” Oliver is thunderstruck. Matilda covers his mouth and drags him away.

“…” Kobashi looks serious now.

“It’s better if we forget about this. It’s not our place or time to get involved.” Yareli grabs Kobashi’s arm. “Do you trust him or not? We need to discuss our plans.” Yareli turns to you.

Kobashi stays?

its the safest bets to keep the Gordon "IM THE GOD" Senior out from our hair if we dont get involved in police. Plus, it will look cool when they bust dat joint

If we cut the police ties with the Orphanage then they won't get in our way later. Plus, with Kobashi and Yareli we have some people on the inside

“I do, personally.” You adjust your glasses once more, then turn around to Wilma, who nods in agreement.

“Loud mouth or not, I believe we can work something out.” Matilda agrees to have Kobashi here.

“I know you deliberately skipped your story.” An earnest Oliver deduces. “And that name…” Oliver is putting a lot of thought into this. “I’ll keep an eye on you.”

“…” Kobashi hasn’t stopped looking serious.

“Do you agree for him to partake in our plans?” Yareli wants clarification from Oliver.

“It’s workable, yeah.” Oliver doesn’t oppose Kobashi’s presence.

“Good to know we’ll be in each other’s cases; it will be fair.” Kobashi has his own questions to ask.

“Kobashi, don’t pry in their business unless it is absolutely necessary.” Yareli scolds her coworker.

“That should be enough for everyone.” Matilda knows you have spent a lot of time discussing it. “Let’s move on to what’s important.”

“Very well.” Yareli is on the same page as the sweet girl.

You all grab a seat to get comfortable, because this is going to be a long meeting… After some meager exchanges of words, you grabbed the spotlight, and proposed to go after the connections the Orphanage of the Blue has, to leave them powerless before going for the kill shot. You imagine the Order of the Blue has connections with the Police, the Schools in this area, and some government worker who’s handling the adoption process – so these are all the important fronts you need to attack.

“…And our first target should be the police. There must be someone in that station working with them, covering their tracks. You had to be quiet in there, so you know that’s the case, right?” You propose the next move. “Any ideas on who might be?”

“It would be easy to point out Officer Liam Patel.” Yareli doesn’t sound convinced despite her tone sounding exactly the same as always.

“T-That man is horrible!” Wilma gets riled up. “…What he did to Mirjam and Grace still makes me fume!”

“What happened?” Matilda is shocked by Wilma’s outburst.

“He doesn’t understand what personal space is around ladies. His hands are adventurous.” Yareli informs. You already knew the guy was a creep, but this? This makes you mad.

“I-I slapped him before he could get near me…” Wilma didn’t have an enjoyable recollection of past events.

“I told you I should’ve broken his fingers.” Kobashi glares at Yareli.

“Our Lieutenant already heavily reprimanded you for smashing his face against the wall before. You’re lucky our Captain didn’t hear a word.” Yareli shakes her head. “I should’ve broken his arm when he tried his chances with me.”

“I’ll take it that the guy is not good news.” Oliver feels a threatening aura coming from almost everyone in the camper.

“He’s a good-for-nothing big nosed idiot, of course he isn’t.” You describe for reasons.

“Wait, Big nose?! H-He’s the guy who threw peanuts at me while I was locked up!” Oliver gets mad as well! Sheesh, guy’s a dick. Like a real dick. Not like Double Dick. You won’t admit that again though.

“But he’s not the one involved, correct?” Matilda steers the conversation back on track.

“Not directly. He’s being used to deliver Ophelia’s messages to our mole. He can’t keep his mouth shut if you’re on his good side.” Yareli points out.

“And since us two aren’t, we don’t hear a peep.” Kobashi scratches the back of his head.

“Isn't it too bothersome to do it like this? Why not do it another way?” Oliver makes a good observation.

“He’s being prepped as a fall guy with this scheme.” Kobashi is sure about this.

“You can force the truth out of him. He should know who’s the most interested in hearing about Ophelia’s stories, that person must be the one working with the Order.” Matilda has an idea.

“How exactly are you planning on doing that?” Kobashi is open to options.

Yeah, options…

What’s the plan?

>Time for Spooky Johnny to make a visit to this loser cop’s house! Terrifying him until you get the truth!
>You can always bash Liam’s head in until you get your answers. Maybe kidnap him on his way to work.
>Liam is a pervert. Maybe Yareli or Matilda can get really friendly with him and get some answers!
>You know, you could talk to him and inform him about what’s going on. He won’t like being a fall guy for anyone, right?

Normally, I'd be for letting a guy know that he's the stooge, but he tried to get handsy with Wilma, and actually got handsy with Mirjam and Grace, so fuck 'im.

...and maybe hit him with a baseball bat or other blunt object, while we're at it.

I’ve got it! Johnny should cross dress as beautiful girl then use our abilities to turn into a ghost pretending to be the vengeful spirits of all the girls he has harassed in his life.

“I have a trick under my invisible sleeve.” You start wiggling your eyebrows. Yareli, Oliver and Matilda got it.

“…Huh? But your sleeves are huge!” Wilma grabs your hands, and puts her entire head inside the sleeve. “See!” Wilma looks stupid. You take the occasion to headpat her. “Hehehe.” Wilma is enjoying it. What a dumb tomato…

“I was figuratively speaking.” You take your hoodie’s sleeve off of Wilma’s head. Her hair got messier.

“What are you waiting for? Explain!” Kobashi is eager to hear what you have in mind.

“I’ll pay a visit to him, and I’ll make him spill the truth.” You adjust your glasses. “I’ll pretend to be a ghost!”

“You want to scare him…?” Oliver didn’t expect this to be the route you’ll go for. “Sounds like a prank.”

“Hmm? It doesn’t. It’s just a logical scheme.” Matilda doesn’t see any issues with your plan. She’s one of the smartest people that you know after all.

“I can attest that his methods work.” Yareli vouches for you. That should make everyone less wary.

“You’re going to keep this a secret?” Kobashi is already feeling disappointed.

“A magician doesn’t reveal his secrets.” You adjust your glasses. You did a magic show and a haunted storage room show, this’ll be in line with those!

“But I never thought of you as frightened…” Wilma turns a little tomato.

“Don’t lie, you were cowering in fear in your sheets yesterday morning!” You chuckle.

“…I-I was surprised! And nervous… A-And…” Wilma defends herself tooth and nail by flashing red like a stoplight.

“You’re really good at sneaking around, and I trusted you once before.” Kobashi makes up his mind. “Go for it!”

“We shouldn’t drive there. We don’t want the camper to draw attention.” Matilda points out. “I imagine you two know where this man lives, one of you should accompany Phil. We’ll stay here for the meantime because you’re doing this right now, correct?”

“I could, I don’t feel that tired.” You start stretching. You think you have recovered enough from your invisible run to keep it up for a decent while.

“Up to you. You deserve to keep resting after what we did today.” Yareli gives you the initiative.

Are you doing this tonight?

“No better time than now in my opinion.” After some stretching, you’re ready to tackle this! “I’ll go with Kobashi, if you don’t mind.”

“I’m raring to go!” Kobashi is up for the task.

“You’ll stay outside just in case.” You don’t want to get his hopes up.

“As long as I witness some of the aftermath, it’ll be worth it.” Kobashi doesn’t mind what his role is. What an agreeable guy.

“Be careful you two and don’t overdo it.” Matilda knows you two aren’t known for being the most modest people.

“We mean it.” Yareli reinforces the message. Her glare gives you and Kobashi a chill down the spine…

“Should be a breeze, eh?” Oliver is confident about your win.

“Maybe, maybe not. I’ll be prepared regardless.” You don’t want to repeat the mistakes of the past.

“Good luck…” Wilma gives you a big hug. You love big hugs from small tomatoes! “You too, Officer Kobashi.”

“Here, so you have something to remember by.” Kobashi hands another lollipop to Wilma. Wilma meekly nods, and the two of you leave the camper. “C’mon, the bike is outside.”

The bike has a flashlight, that’s good! Just like yesterday, Kobashi pedals to your destination. It’s not that far away, it seems these few streets are the home of many of the town’s law enforcers. You arrive at a home that, as far as you can tell in the middle of the night, looks very similar to Yareli’s, to not say it’s exactly the same model.

Kobashi came up with the idea of making a distraction to lure Liam Patel out of his house. You declined because of two reasons: One, you don’t want to chance Kobashi being spotted. And two, the window’s open… Lucky you. After Kobashi hides, you start your sneaking mission...

You enter a bush and turn invisible inside in case Kobashi is watching too attentively. Now it's time to get inside…

Right?

What do you do?

>Go inside through the open window at the front.
>Peek through the window. Survey the interior.
>Break the bathroom window to sneak inside.

No matter the situation you’re in, if you’re in possible danger you have to be cautious. So before you make your first step inside, you’re going to survey the area inside by peeking through the window.

Yep, this house is just like Yareli’s, but you wonder how a place with the exact same layout can look so different. Place has many posters with scantily clothed sexy pin-ups, one of the women you seem to vaguely remember; the kitchen sink has dishes starting to pile up but nothing that bad, some of the kitchen cabinets are left open, and there are random items lying around on the counters. His police uniform is on the ground, like he took it off as soon as he came back from work without any care. Place feels empty, like a hole for someone to die in.

Reminds you of how your dad’s apartment was like when you just moved in. He resented you for wanting to have the place a little tidier. You weren’t even fussy, you’re no hygiene freak, and he still went out of his way to call you finicky. Tangent is done.

And there is Liam, eating oatmeal on his recliner, eyes glued on the TV watching some third-rate drama starring one of the girls on one of his posters. He looks so bored he would make you feel sleepy if the sight of him wasn’t this nauseating to stare at. What a slob. Maybe you’re being a little harsh on him, but you hate his guts, so you’ll think whatever you want.

This scene gives you a lot of ideas on how you could mess with him. A lot of fun ideas.

Of course, all to set the mood…

What do you do?

>Mess up with the TV! Change the channels and stuff.
>Bang on the walls to scare him!
>Mess with his Recliner. Pull it back so far to throw him to the ground!
>Announce yourself as an Evil spirit. Don’t beat around the bush!
>Slap his face.
>Write In.

(Sadly that’s all we have for this thread! Thanks for playing! We’ll start from the prompt you guys select now. See you next time!)

Knock something over in another room (something that will make a loud thump), then sneak over to his TV while he’s away and once he goes back to the TV, start changing the channel slowly until you hit static.

If you really want to scare the piss outta him, you gotta set the mood with a good misdirect (the thump) before you grab his attention with the actual trick (static on the TV). If there’s nothing worth knocking over for the distraction, start turning on any faucets within earshot.

I completely agree. We've gotta run this like a real horror movie if we want it to work.

Also, when we switch the TV to static, we should also remove the batteries in the remote so he has to get new ones, therefore giving us time to continue fucking around with him. Maybe have Philonune turn his BarcaLounger to face away from the TV?
