Last time, Lt. van Zullekom came clean to show she’s stained! Then upon this realization, you came to the idea to stop her nefarious plan from coming to fruition, and to do it, you had to infiltrate the Orphanage of the Blue to stop the Nationwide known Phantom Thief from striking again!

Currently, you’re in Ophelia’s office while invisible, and he’s on the ceiling. You better negotiate something…

You close the door to the office slowly, then walk behind the desk.

“Hello, Mr. Houda Lan, I come in peace.” You take your invisibility off from under the desk so it doesn’t look off, then come out. “I have this dog to prove it.” You show the old dog plushie with a flourish. The dog is an important key item after all.

Mr. Houda Lan jumps off the ceiling right in front of you. He’s not as tall as you. You know, you tower over a lot of people, and you always fail to mention it. But why would you mention it? You’re thinking about it. You don’t need to process every single thought out loud. Except for these couple of useless ones. They are important to you like warm socks during winter.

Anyway, the thief inspects the dog without touching, looking around it to make sure the dog is the real one.

“…Who do you happen to be, good sir?” Houda Lan has acknowledged the dog’s importance.

How do you respond?

>“We can chat outside.” You need him out immediately. This place is not safe.
>“My name is Phil Noon, I’m friends with van Zullekom. Nice to meet you.” And her torturer too. But he doesn’t need to know that.
>“I’ll answer later, what are you trying to find?” You could get some things done before leaving. But it might be dangerous.

Votes:

Votes are counted until 25 minutes have passed. This rule doesn't apply to the last reply of the day.
Votes that require a dice roll are counted until 15 minutes have passed, so we can speed up the process. Rolls are counted until 10 minutes have passed, so be prepared!

(NEW) Dice Mechanic:

We always roll 1d100s!
Since most people weren’t happy with the system of averaging top four rolls, we’re using best of 2/3/4 depending on the attribute a prompt requires. If Johnny is a genius and it’s a Knowledge based roll, he gets more rolls (Max. 7)! If he sucks, he gets less dice (Min. 2)!

When asked for rolls, I will specify how many you’re going to get. Rolling begins after it’s asked.

Rolling 100 is a critical and ignores all other rolls! In the same vein, rolling 1 means a critical failure (only for Very Hard rolls and above).

The difficulty of the roll is tied with the effectiveness of the action. In other words, the harder the option the better the result!

Don’t forget that at the end of the day, this is a story-driven quest! What the prompts are describing is more important than the difficulty of the rolls, for results in a fight.

Again, rolls are only counted when they are posted within ten minutes of being asked, so watch out!

[Meanwhile, at Pokyo Lokyo’s Grand Hospital…]

“Nggh…” Sewel is struggling to open his pudding. He’s in a room of his own, curtains almost closed, lights off, TV on and surviving. He still banged up after a car accident he had in a little town in the middle of nowhere, but that’s not why he’s here, he had to come back to the hospital because he’ll have another surgery in the morning.

“Sewel Scott.” A shadowy figure asks from the dimly lit area of the room. “I need you to answer some of my questions.”

“…” Sewel looks up towards the voice’s direction. He looks to his side at an empty chair. “…Where is that oaf when you finally need him?”

“You think I’d sneak inside when someone else is in here? C’mon, how many chowder heads do you deal with?” The man starts pacing around near the bed. “I don’t want to cause any trouble. I’m not here to hurt a man who’s struggling to open his pudding.”

“Who are ya?” Sewel puts his pudding on the desk next to the bed.

“Name’s Rooke!” The ex-terrorist Rooke Knightley shows his massive grin. “See? Friendly?”

“What do you want to know?” Sewel doesn’t want to waste his time.

Yu Yan Liamishi, where is she? You-know-who added her name to the registry on your behalf.” Rooke’s grin disappears as quickly as it shone.

“No idea what you’re babbling about, cocksucker.” Sewel dismisses the question.

“Without the insult, I would’ve believed you. Now? I’ll break your teeth if you don’t start talking.” Rooke starts cracking his knuckles.

The door is being slammed multiple times from the outside, not even one attempt at opening it normally was made. It doesn’t budge.

“That weak son of a bitch can’t even tear down doors?!” Sewel sighs.

“I made a good call closing it. If you say a word about me, I’ll bash your skull in, ya hear me?” Rooke hides under the bed.

“W-Why? Why are you hiding? Hey! Moron! Get out!” Sewel complains, but then Rooke punches the mattress. “Oh my fuckin’ ass… Fine, stay there, dumbfuck.”

The door gives in and gets smashed into the ground, a group of 10 delinquent looking people enter, surrounding Sewel. All of them take guns out and point them at the patient, except for one, he went back to put the door where it was. And through the group a confident figure makes his way in...

“You’re the legendary assassin Mr. Scott? Trained by the old-time greats? The one who has been the biggest thorn in our side ever since we discovered your little secret? What a pittance!” The always self-assured Elicarto Lloydington mocks the injured man.

“You’re working with the mafia too?” Sewel looks around. “Your voter base won’t take too kindly to this.”

“Hmph, your clever quips won’t get you anywhere, you untrustworthy snake. You’re an elusive man, I’ll give you that. Few can escape Maximum’s hands. But today, you’re going to pay for making a mockery of us.” Lloydington acts disgusted. “Men, get rid of him.”

“We need to know where he hid them, Lloydington. We can’t pop him without knowing, that’s our deal.” The leader of the criminals reminds the confident presidential candidate.

“I got you your weapons. That’s enough for my end of the bargain, I just want to see this man die.” Lloydington won’t do as told.

All the guns turn their aim towards Lloydington. Sewel and Rooke aren’t even twitching a muscle.

“Kindly reconsider.” The mafia man isn’t playing around.

“Hahahahaha! You flies don’t understand your place!” Lloydington sniggers.

All of the mafia men get smashed into the walls in one forceful swipe, knocking them all out cold onto the ground, dropping all their weapons. None of them went off. Sewel ducked before getting hit by one of the bodies that went his way.

“Now… Mr. Scott, you should be happy. It appears I’ll have to crush you with my own two hands, an honor no other man in Pra—” Lloyidington collapses from his own exhaustion…

“…” Sewel doesn’t even know how to react to this.

“Should I snap his neck…?” Rooke comes out from under the bed to ask to kick Lloydington gently to see if he’s awake or not. “I’ll do what you want, just tell me where Yu Yan is!”

Again, the door collapses! Torn down by someone else who wanted to get inside!

“Hey, Sewel! I brought some smoothies…” It’s Flint Masterson with 2 cups. “…What the hell happened here?”

“I-It’s complicated.” Rooke responds.

“Who the fuck are you?!” Flint glares at the big guy.

“The complication.” Rooke smirks.

“Well, it’s been a while since I got a decent spar. Show me what you got.” Flint starts cracking his knuckles. Rooke thinks to himself: Shit. Sewel will let things continue as is.

The incidents at the Grand Hospital seem to be never-ending…

Back to the Bubble…

“My name is Phil Noon, I’m friends with van Zullekom. Nice to meet you.” You’d try for a handshake, but you don’t know the thief code.

Howdy, lad! It is I, Houda Lan!” Houda Lan seemingly starts erratically moving around, it’s too deliberate to think otherwise, but it looks wrong. Like a guy choking but doing a self-Heimlich Maneuver to save himself. “Nice time to meet you as well, good sir.” He seems friendly, the dog was a success! “How can I be of assistance, Noon? Did the charming Vanessa send you here?”

“Yeah. And huh, you’re pretty relaxed talking in the middle of a heist.” You aren’t sure if this is the time to talk.

“I’m no amateur, young man, I would’ve spared a cup of coffee with you if I came prepared for one. It’s not prudent, but teetering on the edge of your limits is where excitement comes from.” The masked man is quite confident. “Escaping-wise, you understand it is every man for himself, correct? I’d hate it if Vanessa thinks I mercilessly let her friend get captured.”

“I’m prepared now.” Not that you thought you could get captured. But you won’t feel responsible for helping him.

“Magnificent. Well, what do I owe the pleasure?” Houda Lan is willing to hear you out.

Houda Lan might act chill now, but he looked nervous on the ceiling. He’s acting like he has all the time in the world, but when push comes to shove, he’ll probably disappear in a second. In other words, you have a time limit.

What do you do?

>“We need to discuss this outside. Don’t feel pressured to get this job done now, you have more time to spare.” You can’t talk here…
>“I require your services. This mission is much bigger than you thought, and we’ll need to work together to solve it, or else van Zullekom will be in danger.” Raise the stakes to get his attention.
>“I need to hear your end first. Why are you here?” You need to know if you can help steal whatever he came for.

“I require your services.” You get serious. “This mission is much bigger than you thought, and we’ll need to work together to solve it, or else van Zullekom will be in danger.”

“Hold your pedal, Noon. We’ve taken great measures to make certain that she’s untraceable. How on earth is she in peril…?” The friendly attitude of Houda Lan turns to concern in one millisecond.

“The Lieutenant is a little clumsy, isn’t she?” You don’t think that it is unlikely that something went wrong. “But basically, she delayed an investigation on this Orphanage that she’s going to put forward as soon as you’re done, but without key evidence it might cost her head. I’m sure you know why.”

“Does she have to go ahead with it now? Why risk it…?” Houda Lan doesn’t get the rush.

“Kids are suffering because of this cover up, Houda. The longer it takes, the worse it will get for them. She can’t carry on with the guilt anymore.” You let him know about the Lieutenant’s anguish.

“Oh blimey, that does sound like something Vanessa would do…” Houda crosses his arms and tilts his head upwards. “I don’t get why I’m getting my head all worked up. None of this will matter if we find the key evidence you were prattling about.” Houda Lan has a clear mind. “Let’s do it, Noon.”

“Great!” You didn’t think it would be this easy! That dog must mean a lot if it’s this easy to persuade him!

“What are we looking for?” Houda needs more information.

“Evidence.” You look him right in the eyes.

“What kind of evidence?”

“Important enough to take Ophelia Bruun to jail.”

“You have nothing specific in mind, got it.” Houda gives you a thumbs up. “Okay, Noon. I’ll give you three options: We can raid this office and take everything we can. Or you get out there and distract the people in the building while I find everything we need at my own pace. Or you look for the jewel I came for, since in theory it should be less time consuming, while I gather the information you need.”

“Why can’t I look for the information myself and you steal the jewel you want?” You wonder.

“…Then why did you bother to talk to me in the first place?” Houda Lan doesn’t get your proposition. You might not be as clever as you thought, but the options are there…“Quick, Noon. I think someone is coming over. 1, 2 or 3?”

How do you respond?

>Raid the Office. You don’t need to investigate the rest of the building to know this is the most important place inside!

We've been ratcheting the pressure on Ophelia to amplify the effectiveness of this. If we can draw hr off-premise then that's great. If not then she'll likely beeline for where she keeps her most important shit, giving Houda the perfect chance to snatch it.

It'll be dangerous, but I think this has the best payout.

“2!” You go around the desk to hide and turn invisible!

“Understood.” Houda Lan jumps back onto the ceiling.

You’re going to be the big annoying distraction! All this time spent with Scarlet will bear its fruits! But you need to be effective for that to be true, you have to play your cards right. Now that you’re invisible, you can look around no problem, you just have to bear in mind how much energy you’re spending – you don’t want the drawbacks to flare up when you least need them to.

“Kids? Are you in here? I heard you talking. You know very well you can’t play in here; this is your mother’s workplace.” It’s Sieb Bruun, he opens the door without much of a rush, but gets confused upon realizing there’s nobody in here. “…A lot of strange things have happened lately.” Sieb talks to himself as he closes the room again, worried that he might be losing his mind. You find it odd that he left it unlocked. Maybe only Ophelia has the key? There are fewer reasons for it to be left open then…

Pssst, Noon. I believe in you…” Houda Lan whispers as he comes out of the ceiling.

It’s up to you to not let him down!

Let's play the role of "I'm Phil Noon and I've been lost ever since we entered the orphanage with Sieb like a week ago." in order to fuck with Sieb.

Like let's get close to him while invisible and, very quietly, say things like 'S-Sieb is that you? I've been here so long and found no one...' then let him catch a glimpse of us turning the corner of a hallway in front of him. He'll get all in a tiffy and it'll be hilarious.

No, this isn't a good plan. Just a funny one.

You have come up with an idea on how to distract Sieb, and possibly one that will distract everyone in the building! You know how to be annoying, so you’re confident you can pull this off. With your cloak of invisibility still on, you sneak out of the room, closing the door behind. You’ll pursue the eerie caretaker.

Why was Sieb looking for kids? Aren’t these school hours? But Mirjam and Grace are doing work… nothing makes sense. You should stop questioning things and just deal with things as you go.

You’re back at the lobby room. You see Sieb walking in the hallway, he’s going up the stairs, looking for someone… You shorten the distance.

“S-Sieb, is that you? I’ve been here for so long and found no one…” You act like a damned soul.

“Oh…?” Sieb stops midway in his tracks to look behind. You walk past him on the stairs to the next floor. Luckily, he didn’t feel you pass by.

You’re standing on the top of the stairs, half of your body hiding behind the wall, you turn yourself visible.

“S-Sieb, it’s me…” You have both eyes wide open, Sieb turns his head upwards to see you. Once you make eye contact, you hide the rest of your body and turn invisible.

Sieb rushes the stairs to find absolutely no one. He unlocks the nearest door to a room, where you could’ve possibly hidden in, and peeks inside. No soul in it.

“I’m glad to see you…” You whisper right next to his ear, then walk back.

“What the…” Sieb turns immediately, but only finds emptiness. His eyes are going haywire trying to find anything that would explain this. He doesn’t understand what’s going on. He hunches and spreads both arms, head turning slowly back and forth.

You give it a minute to create some tension, he starts walking carefully through the hallway to the next set of stairs. Once he reaches the first step, you say something…

“You aren’t leaving me behind, are you…?” You act hurt.

“Who’s there…?” Sieb knows for sure something is up, and it’s not just his imagination going wild.

…But you won’t allow him the pleasure to keep his sanity, you keep quiet – and approach him again. He asks once again if there’s someone around, which helps you hide the sound of your approach.

“Kids, prank time is over…” Sieb tries to not believe he’s being haunted.

But he’s being a fool.

What do you do?

“Why aren’t you helping me, Sieb…?” You act all in pain. “I only wanted to see Wilma… Why is this happening…?”

How on earth…?” The usually eerily calm man has lost all composure, he can’t compute what’s going on. “Phil, was it? Can you hear me?”

“…” You decide not to respond with the intention of making this as abnormal for Sieb as possible.

“I’m losing him…” Sieb is taking a moment to calm down. “Tell me, is Wilma there with you?”

“…” Like you’re going to answer that!

“Why am I asking…? They saw her at her school.” Sieb takes his glasses off, cleans them, and puts them back on. “I just…” He’s back to normal. “Phil? I don’t recall you ever telling me your last name. Are you here still?”

“…” You almost said No like a dumbass.

“I need to find a way to help him out…” Sieb is actually worried about you… “Phil, just do anything, any signal, just to know you’re here.”

“…” You’re wondering if you should…

“This is something I might be able to take care of myself, if you follow my instructions, Phil.” Sieb is trying to convince you now. He isn’t sure of himself in this scenario.

Perhaps upping the intensity would make him bring backup…

What do you do?

Uhhh… You want to respond, but you don’t know what to move to indicate you’re here. Where’s the typical oddly placed vase on a table when you need it? Should you open a door? Can you? Maybe play with a doorknob to make some noise? Is that enough or will that confuse Sieb?

Wait. Wait. Wait. There’s a random painting on the wall! It’s a steamboat, not the type Ruby is familiar with. It’s cute. You’re sure it was made by a child, or Nariko. Wait, Nariko has not been born yet. So, a child did it. You should rock the boat instead of wondering who painted it. Hell, you could do that AND check the signature if you really cared. But you don’t, since there’s no way Nariko painted it.

You move the painting. Yay for paranormal activity! Spooking people is becoming a hobby of yours, you’re sure this is not something Nina will appreciate because you spooked her once and she didn’t like it that much! You should do it again… No! Wait! You need to scare the tomatoes! That will be hilarious.

Getting lost in your thoughts made you shake the boat a lot. Sieb noticed it, so that’s good!

“Good… You’re here.” Sieb nods with little confidence, eyes moving from place to place, looking for answers that won’t be there. “But I can’t sense you… Yet you have moments where your presence is robust. Pardon me the bluntness, Phil, but I’m at a loss here. Do you think it’s possible for you to follow me upstairs? I can get more help. Move the painting if you think you can, move something else if you don’t…”

He’s giving pretty clear instructions.

What do you do?

>Shake Painting. You’ll follow him. As long as you get him as far away from Houda, it’s a victory for you.

Leaving doesn’t seem to be a good idea, you need to stay close to the Office in case anyone else approaches it – your mission is to lure away everyone from interfering with Houda Lan’s job. You grab the doorknob behind Sieb and shake it.

“…How disastrous.” Sieb couldn’t have taken the news any worse. “Just stay with me as long as you can.” Sieb changes stances as he’s thinking his plan over. “I got it!”

“…” You wonder what he is about to do.

“Uhm….. LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~~!” Sieb sings extremely loudly like he’s some tenor.

You feel like you’re going to end up deaf after this. Is this how Nina felt after you went to karaoke together? You don’t think Sieb is bad at all, but you don’t know for how long you’ll be able to make sure he isn’t.

Sieb coughs after that. “That must’ve alerted Ophelia, Phil. She’ll be coming down the stairs any moment now. She’ll know what to do.”

Wait, you brought out the exact person you didn’t want to…!

Uh-Oh…

What do you do?

“She… can’t come here… she’s the one responsible…” You decide to plant the seed of doubt inside Sieb’s mind.

The look of satisfaction on Sieb’s face is wiped in less than a second, you strung the perfect combination of words to put him at unease. You hear Ophelia coming down from the stairs on the other side of the hallway. Sieb rushes to meet her at the end of the hallway, but he’s not fast enough to get there in time.

“For the last time, you don’t have to be so loud. Take care of your voice.” Ophelia scolds the gardener. This seems to be a normal occurrence of sorts. “What’s the emergency?”

“I…” Sieb can’t come up with an excuse fast enough.

“Do I have to repeat myself?” Ophelia's de facto look turns to concern.

“No, it’s…” Sieb feels trapped. “B-But shouldn’t you…”

“Shouldn’t I what? Tell me what’s troubling you and I’ll resolve the matter like I always have.” Ophelia knows that Sieb is acting odd. “Does it involve the kids? Are they fine? Hello?” She starts snapping her fingers in front of Sieb’s eyes, making him look away.

This is awkward…

What do you do?

>Push Ophelia onto Seib!

You grab Sieb’s shoulder firmly, then start to tremble to show your discontent and anxiety: The Fidgeting Ajna Tactics. You’ve met a lot of people and all you do is use their worst traits for your own amusement or for strange maneuvers, you need to have a long introspection…

Sieb appears to have gotten the message, he froze for a second when you put your hand on him, he knew if he turned around to check on you as a reflex – it was game over. But his silence is rubbing Ophelia the wrong way.

“Are you being possessed?” Ophelia raises two fingers in front of Sieb and moves her arm from left to the right. “Unlikely, I know. It’s been so long since the last recorded paranormal activity.”

“N-No, I’m not…” Sieb denies the accusation.

“I don’t feel anything. Are you ill?” Ophelia moves her two fingers onto Sieb’s forehead. “Normal for you.”

“Y-You didn’t? Wait, what’s that supposed to mean?” Sieb found a topic he feels comfortable talking about.

“Hmph, don’t act foolishly now, you’ve always been cold-blooded.” Ophelia doesn’t have time for his nonsense.

“Literally, I hope.” Sieb smiles ‘tenderly’. You know, like he did when he met you. So you don’t feel any warmth out of it.

“What are you talking about? You'd be dead if you were.” Ophelia must be kicked out of a lot of comedy clubs…

“You might be right, I’m no doctor.” Sieb chuckles.

“What did you call me for?” Ophelia never forgot for a second why she is here.

“No particular reason.” Sieb tilts his head to see Ophelia’s face from another angle.

“It’s an emergency call. We don’t joke with emergency calls.” Ophelia puts her foot down. She’s livid. “You’re hiding something from me.”

“No, I just wanted to see you badly, that’s all.” Sieb winks, he’s trying to be a playmaker.

“What kind of flimsy excuse is that, Sieb Bruun?” Ophelia doesn’t buy it. “Something happened to one of the kids, didn’t it? I’m checking them out.”

“Hold it.” Sieb puts himself in the way before she can set a foot off the stairs.

“…” Ophelia is killing Sieb multiple times in her mind. She’s one scary lady…

Something bad is bound to happen…

She… tried to kill me…” You act like a haunting ghost to everyone on their toes!

“Who’s there?” Ophelia extends her left hand to where you were standing, like trying to stab you with her nails – but you moved out of the way in time, your reflexes are pretty good, your Athletics and Courage are pretty high after all.

“The wind.” Sieb is not that great at thinking under pressure.

“No, it’s the reason why you called me.” Ophelia is not a dunce! This comes as a surprise to you after dealing with van Zullekom all day… “You were hiding him from me.”

“Ophelia, I’ll deal with this.” Sieb tries to calm her down.

“I can’t believe you, of all people are buying into his lies. After everything I’ve done for you, it was all for naught.” Ophelia sounds a tiny bit hurt despite the stoic façade. You can tell after dealing with so many emotionally distressed people… “Move out of the way, I’ll deal with you later.”

“Please. Don’t take one more step.” Sieb wants to help first and foremost.

“Sieb, I wouldn’t have left not even the faintest traces of this pitiful spirit if I wanted this man erased. You’re being fooled.” Ophelia goes past Sieb and you. She has no idea where you are. “Have you decided to be quiet now, you phony spirit? Talk to me so I can bring this charade to an end.”

Sieb’s authority was overrun like he wasn’t even here! Ophelia doesn’t believe you’re a ghost, which kudos to her for not being fooled… for now. Anyway, it seems important to her to prove that you’re not who you say you are.

What do you do?

[Meanwhile, at the epicenter of the grand battle against the Behemoth…]

It’s downtown Pokyo Lokyo, in the middle of a tiny empty plaza. The Behemoth is swatting Flying Referees away, dozens of them engulfing the surroundings, preventing any innocent bystanders from getting any closer. The Judge tools managed to put the beast on the ropes, almost getting the Crystal Piece he consumed out of his body, hanging on his chest for anyone to grab, not without risk of course – the beast is still fully powered by it and he’s no slouch. The incapacitated bodies around him are proof of his brutality.

“So how many do you think have fallen victim to him? There are a lot of corpses.” Richard looks around from the roof of one of the nearby buildings. He’s with B-WORM, analyzing the situation, waiting for their best moment to strike.

“This is not the appropriate time to ask such questions. But I’m glad to know your codename fits you very well still.” While a realist, B-WORM is not insensitive to what’s happening around him. Richard rolls his eyes. “There’s a lot more there than just a body count.”

“There’s a lot up here too.” Richard ups his gaze to notice there are more people much like them on the other roofs.

“Anyone foolish enough already jumped into action and failed, so I’m not surprised that those of us who are more careful are still waiting for their moment.” B-WORM takes it easy.

“WILDFLAME is still fighting down there… I agree anyway, but I feel like this crowd is listening to us.” Richard makes everyone on the roofs look away.

“……...You guys are just too loud.” Vivienne says from the other nearby roof. All the surrounding buildings were evacuated or were destroyed weeks ago. So, the echo is pretty loud and the voices carry easily.

“Hey girl, you ain’t as gloomy as last time! You met a nice man? Hmmm?” The ex-member of the Assembly and Percy Larsen’s killer Strawberry Sasha shouts from another building by herself. “Also, WILDFLAME is rocking that big ogre out of his mind! He’s so cool!”

“……..No comments.” Vivienne groans.

“Hey, nobody asked you two.” Richard retorts.

“Hey B! You aren’t with the other handsome kid? Just the detective? I supposed that’s sweet.” Sasha the murderer asks her former assembly partner about George Adams.

“Sorry to disappoint, but he was just a patient at the hospital. A very friendly kid, indeed.” B-WORM casually responds.

“I think I saw him a couple of blocks back!” The Chief of the Police Rob Banks shouts from yet another building. “With him, we would’ve gotten the whole gang back together! HahahaahAHA!”

“Banks? Don’t tell me that Jackson is around…” Richard isn’t happy to see the discourteous man either.

“Nah, he’s an N.U. lapdog these days. Anything for an easy buck, the lousy nickel-nurser.” Rob Banks has a chuckle. “We chased this big fellow away last time, but tonight we’ll have to take him out cold for real.” Rob Banks changes subjects to what’s important. “Yeah, I’m proposing a truce for old times’ sake.”

“Preposterous.” Vivienne doesn’t even give it a second thought.

“It’s a race for the piece, geezer. Who cares if someone drops dead? Why work together?” Sasha agrees to disagree.

“Actually, I’m interested in taking him down first. This city has seen enough tragedy as it is.” B-WORM is up for it.

“It certainly reduces our chances of getting hurt.” Richard doesn’t see it as a bad option. “What about the quiet ones? Are you willing to negotiate?”

“I’m here on behalf of the Police Department under the good Chief’s orders. Please spare no thoughts on me.” A fat guy makes his presence known next to Rob Banks.

“Collaboration has always been mankind’s key to success, so I don’t see any reason not to.” Charlie Ironheart, Ka-Shing’s right-hand man appears from another building…

“…….He sent you here?” Vivienne is not amused by Charlie’s presence.

“No. I came here of my own volition. I’m not interested in your plans.” Charlie is not trying to hide anything. “I want to remind you, thanks to the Flying Referees, trying to kill each other is pointless – unless you’re no longer interested in winning the contest.”

“………You have a point.” Vivienne changes her mind.

“If everyone’s on board, I’m on board.” Sasha has a smile from ear to ear.

“You younglings are using your brain cells! I’m so proud I’m gonna shed a tear!” Rob Banks has a good laugh.

“Now that we’re in an agreement, let’s – Wait, what’s the fuck is that!?” Richard notices something wrong going on down there…!

Someone flying like a bullet steals the Crystal Piece from the Behemoth’s heart in a flash…!

It’s MINE! FuckeeeeeeeEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeersss….!!!” The Drunken Maiden shouts in victory!

Carmela Camerota, Nina’s childhood friend and drunkard, has stolen the Crystal Piece from the Behemoth.

[Back to the Bubble...]

You’ll ignore Ophelia’s petty threats and focus your efforts on convincing Sieb that the only person dangerous here is her. You grab the gardener’s shoulder…

I’m scared…” You whisper into Sieb’s ear, then let him go.

“Turning him against me is going to do you no favors.” Ophelia is less than impressed by what you’re trying to do.

“Just step aside.” Sieb pleas again. “I’ll prepare your favorite meal for tonight’s dinner if you leave this to me.” Bribing people with food? Who does this guy think he is? You?

“Now you’re treating me like one of the children, Sieb? Hmph.” Ophelia doesn’t look pissed, instead, she’s concerned. “We’ll discuss this matter later. I need you to stop being fooled and get out of my way.”

“Heh heh, I think the one with trust issues is you!” Sieb chuckles as he puts his hand over his mouth. “Leave this one to me, dear.”

“Who said anything about trust?” Ophelia caught on to Sieb's mistrust. “These are nothing but cheap tricks.”

“Well, prove it.” Sieb won’t back down.

“Prove it? My visor was stolen, you need to take my word.” Ophelia retorts, annoyed.

“You’ll have to do better.” Sieb smiles.

“I understand now. This isn’t the only event tickling your fancy… It’s always about children with you.” Ophelia bites her lip. “I’m trusting you, make sure I’m safe.”

Ophelia sits on the first step like she’s meditating, eyes closed, she takes a deep breath and… you feel like something is happening! Something is coming out of Ophelia’s body…! It feels like a flame, but you cannot make out the form… Is this… an actual ghost?! You met actual ghosts and those were just flames but boring! W-What’s going on…?

What do you do?

>Steal Ophelia’s body! Run to the Roof!

“Is she… going to try… to kill me for good…?” You act scared, not even trying to grab Sieb this time, it’s probably going to add to the panic of the situation.

“I don’t think she can…” Sieb is unsure of himself, the doubts are plaguing his mind, he’s going to do something but he’s not sure what.

The ghost spirit that came out of Ophelia starts taking form to reveal that it's in fact Ophelia! It makes you feel stupid that you thought it could’ve been something else. Anyway, is this the visualization of her spirit? Or a different technique that allows her to project herself? Whatever she’s turning into is strong enough for you to be able to see, you recall from your talks with Athelone that you can’t detect weaker spirits with your flame sighting ability, or something like that. You have to be careful and trust Sieb to put a stop to this.

“This forbidden technique hasn’t been used for centuries, Phony specter. Now I’ll be able to dismantle your tricke—” Ophelia notices you standing there doing nothing. “Y-You’re just standing there doing nothing! How is this possible…?”

“…” You look away pretending you can’t see her, you’d whistle, but Sieb can hear you.

“I feel two more presences…” Ophelia is capable of sensing flames!?

“Please, Ophelia, don’t hurt him…” Sieb sits in front of the meditating husk of Ophelia and holds one of her hands.

“…!” Naiad peeks out from your hoodie and throws some magic dust into the air!

Ophelia returns back to her body like she’s a stretched rubber band! Just one swoop!

Gaaah!” Ophelia wakes up in shock.

“You listened to me!” Sieb sighs of relief.

“He is invisible somehow!” Ophelia is determined to expose you! Too bad there’s no good internet during these years! She stands up and starts flailing her arms around, like trying to catch a fly. “He is here, Sieb! Help!”

“I don’t follow, hee hee.” Sieb tilts his head in confusion.

“J-Just follow my lead!” Ophelia continues with her spinning lariats!

Obviously, these are way too easy to dodge for you. So, you don’t feel threatened. Now you need to come up with a way to take advantage of this!

What do you do?

Trip Ophelia, and then when she's down (or when the opportunity presents itself) apply the Secret Spice Technique to knock her out, preferably without Sieb being able to tell that's what we did.
>>
>>5083351
But we got both of them right here doing nothing already and can knock them out whenever we want. Plus we're even sowing some serious mistrust in Sieb
>>
>>5083354
Idk, as soon as they're out of our sight the opportunity to knock them out goes away. Meanwhile the kids in the orphanage are another possible avenue of Houda getting detected. We free up our options by knocking her out now, and locking Sieb down as well in having to watch after her, leaving us free to respond to anything else that might occur.

Guerilla tactics 101 says to injure one of their party so that the others have to tend to the wounded and their effectiveness is reduced.
>>
>>5083356
But for the kids this is just a normal day, why assume that they would go there today of all days even though they're forbidden? Meanwhile knocking people out can cause some commotion so I'd rather not do it unless necessary.

Besides, Houda's a successful phantom thief, if he'd get so easily detected by kids then he probably wouldn't have gotten this far
>>
>>5083366
Well we don't know where Houda will have to go to look for (whatever it is he'll need for incriminating evidence), nor do we know where the kids hang out at on a typical day. I'll concede that Houda ought to be able to go about undetected, but I'd also like to note that these kids are all spiritualists so they represent a highly unknown quantity.

“I’d rather not. Ophelia, a poor kid’s life is in danger. I ask you again to stop.” Sieb pleas again to no avail.

“A young man, tall, wears glasses, disheveled hair, and absurdly long sleeves. Is that the kid? I saw him.” Ophelia gives a piss poor description of you.

“Long sleeves?” Sieb doesn’t recall you wearing that, though he might find the description too specific to be false. “Hold on, I thought he was invisible.” Sieb chuckles.

“He is NOW!” Ophelia can’t believe he’s mocking her. “He fooled you, he’s no specter. I don’t understand what trickery he’s using, but he is invisible. Now help me detect him.”

“Why don’t you try sighting him again?” Sieb believes Ophelia should do her trickery instead.

“He managed to repel me, he’s a resourceful man, and he’s not alone.” Ophelia remarks as she continues flailing around like a doofus.

“And doing what you’re doing is more effective, because…?” Sieb chuckles, he knows he’s giving you time to escape if you’re in danger, or that’s the only thing giving some kind of comfort to continue letting Ophelia do her thing.

“I’m debunking his charade.” Ophelia’s conviction is unwavering despite how goofy she looks pretending to be a helicopter.

But as soon as you try to relocate yourself to a safer position, in one swift motion, Ophelia draws blood from her hand and throws it in your direction. Not a massive amount though, a few little dots reach you, but quickly turn invisible.

“I got him.” Ophelia feels satisfied.

“W-What did you do to yourself?” Sieb is more worried about Ophelia’s hand bleeding.

“You didn’t notice? It’s the evidence you seek. The dots of blood clearly disappeared from thin air.” Ophelia can’t believe Sieb wasn’t paying attention.

“No, they are there.” Sieb points at the ruined carpet…

“The trail gets cut short.” Ophelia is frustrated as she points at the end of it.

“Haa Haa, if you say so.” Sieb finds it funny. You’re lucky the trail of blood doesn’t look odd. “Now, let me treat your wound.”

“Not yet.” Ophelia glares at Sieb so hard he stays in place. “Intruder, what is it that you seek?”

Ophelia is trying again to have a conversation with you…

What do you do?

In which case we still have control of the situation since we're right by Ophelia and Sieb. Ophelia is charging towards you with no chance of stopping! Like a mad cow going on a rampage! Err… that comment has nothing to do with the fact Ophelia has enormous ti—

You almost forgot to dodge! But you move out of the way just in time as smoothly as an extremely fast raccoon! Her attack was so easily telegraphed, she might as well be the first boss in an action game! You don’t expect a lady like her to be viciously quick anyway.

As soon as you dodge, Ophelia stops dead in her tracks, she turns to Sieb…

“You heard those steps, Sieb? He moved out of the way.” Ophelia is confident that she caught you in the act! You don’t think you made that much noise, and even think her charging masked all of it, but you’re not the judge, Sieb is…

“I did…” Sieb isn’t going to pretend otherwise. A sea of doubts starts showing on his face. Uh-Oh, you didn’t expect this to go this way, you were super smooth in your movement. “…I think.”

“Think? How many times have I told you to grow a spine?” Ophelia wants a definitive answer.

“You know I’m not much of a liar.” Sieb shrugs like this doesn't matter one bit. You feel like he’s lying here, or at least pretending he’s calmer than he is.

“Talk to me again, ghost.” Ophelia wants another chance to beat you and your flames.

“…” You’re not going to talk to her after that, you’re not dumb.

“Give me a signal that you’re okay…” Sieb asks nicely instead.

You don’t feel like you should take your chances now. Even with your expert dodges, you feel like you’re going to expose yourself somehow.

Well, you’re not okay, so you’re not going to make that signal, in fact, you’ll show him how not okay you’re with your next move! With Philonune’s help, you’ll tear down the door in front to make them pretend you’re escaping! You need to lure them out and make them waste as much time as possible, regardless of methods. Having Sieb on your side, or at least doubt Ophelia’s intentions, could’ve been beneficial, but it’s not your priority.

You invoke your partner, and with one strike he demolishes the entrance to a random room! By kicking it down! You don’t really want to cause much collateral damage, you’re a civilized man who tears down doors to escape, not to cause mayhem.

Still, a part of you wants to walk over it to signal your escape, but making the sound will get rid of all Sieb’s suspicions, so you’re going to the middle ground.

“H-Huh…?” Sieb is in shock, he only heard the door being slammed, he turns around and spreads his arms just like when you started haunting him.

But what makes the situation all different is Ophelia’s reaction…

“I cannot believe my eyes…” Ophelia’s eyes are open wide with an unsettling smirk on her face.

Ophelia was able to see Philonune.

You rapidly make Philonune disappear. Uh-Oh…

“…” On his own volition, Sieb starts investigating the room that is busted open, ignoring Ophelia’s reaction. You can hear him saying something inside, he might be trying to talk to you.

Is Ophelia happy this happened…? Is she concerned…? All you know is that she’s not moving…

And that for whatever reason, Ophelia can’t see Naiad. Maybe because she’s hiding? Or is it because you’re sharing your invisibility?

What do you do?

>Make your face visible and show Ophelia your tongue.
>Go inside the room and talk to Sieb.
>Knock Ophelia out with the Spice Secret Technique.
>Destroy another door with Philonune.

Last time you saw a smile like that you got stabbed in the chest by stupid cat lady. You’ve learned many lessons the last few months, and when a disaster is this telegraphed, you’re not going to stand idle. Sieb is out of sight, there’s no better moment to take Ophelia out of the equation.

You approach the evil lady to deliver the knockout blow! The same excitement that’s creeping you out is the one responsible for her not paying attention to the fullest! You’ll take advantage!

Like every unsuspecting victim, the strike was swift and effective. Ophelia is down! You repeat! Ophelia, the villainous caretaker, is down! Down and out!

“Good job, partner.” Philonune will never be tired of seeing people go down like flies… for justice!

“I sometimes feel bad that this stuff is too easy.” You even managed to keep your invisibility the whole time too. But this isn’t even close to the end of the story, you’re making time for Houda.

“Partner, careful, something’s up.” Philonune alerts as you feel something is happening…

The same strange flamey energy starts coming out of Ophelia again, forming her spiritual form once again!

“Now I can see your dirty pretty face again…” The vengeful Ophelia isn’t going to lose her chance to do something now!

Naiad alerts you that she can’t do anything this time with a short dance. You don’t understand what’s different now, but perhaps she lacks the energy! You’re not the only one using your energy for something!

This ain’t good…

Ophelia is planning on going to the room with Sieb inside! You need to figure out a way to stop her and quick! But what can you do?! You can’t grab flames ever since you got Philonune!

What do you do?!

>Distract Ophelia by stealing her body! Take her upstairs!
>Shout like you were just stabbed to death! Leave Sieb confused with the scene of your presumed death and Ophelia knocked out!
>Just go in there and knock Sieb too!
>“Don’t move one ghostly muscle or I’ll delete you!” Bluff! Bluff! Bluff!

Sure we can't grab flames but we can fight ghosts with Philo.

We can also threaten her unconscious body. She may be astral projecting now, but I bet it would be inconvenient at the least if her body was severely broken or dead, as far as I'm concerned. She's putting off 'too dangerous and slippery to let live' vibes to me.

we can still grope her by "accident", yeah?

For some reason I want to rip her necklace off. I don't know why but it's giving me suspicious vibes. Is that one of the symbols that the Crystals have on them maybe?

I feel like there's a chance she has something acting as a focus or aid for her spiritualist powers, and a piece of jewelry seems like a reasonably likely suspect.

Also I totally dig her Aku-hairstyle+hairband deal. Very slick.

Maybe you can’t grab flames, but you can face ghosts with Philonune! And maybe you can’t grab Ophelia’s ghost form, but you can surely take away her actual body! You’re sure this is going to cause a distraction because she seems easy to anger like Susie.

You stop being sneaky and put Ophelia’s body on your shoulders. She’s far heavier than you were expecting. Now you start running towards the stairs with the heavy evil woman on you!

It seems no one is chasing after you. You wonder what gives. Also, having Ophelia’s body on your shoulder should look fairly weird, perhaps you should turn her invisible too…? That’d require more energy, and you’re slowly starting to feel the effects of your exhaustion.

You turn around to see what’s the hold-up, and only hear those 2 talking… It doesn’t seem like Ophelia is able to communicate all that well with Sieb.

You’re at the steps to the next floor…

Turn Ophelia’s body invisible?

>Yeah, you don’t want people to see a floating body.
>Nah, how can you bait people without them being able to see the bait?

What do you do?

>Just go upstairs! Make loud stomps so they know where you went. Once they realize the body is gone, they’re going to look after it!
>Go back and impersonate Ophelia by using her body as a puppet.
>Search the body to find anything. Maybe take the pendant and her wallet. Oh god, you’re turning into Crossbill!
>Write In.

What’s the point of baiting people without showing some bait! You’ll keep her visible. Besides, you need to conserve stamina. Anyway, they might’ve not paid any attention to you, but they sure will when you stomp the crap out of these steps! Also, you pocketed her necklace for some reason, it might be important…! Crossbill is a bad influence on people, unlike you, who spreads cheese love to the world.

On the third floor, you don’t hear much movement down below despite the ruckus you caused. Have they not heard you? That’s impossible… unless…

At last, you hear someone coming over, judging by the sound of the steps, it must be Sieb, and he’s running! Maybe they just realized the body’s gone! Excellent, the bait has worked. Your concern didn’t allow you to look around but it’s known territory, you recall Wilma’s room is around the corner, but maybe you should go somewhere else instead.

What’s the plan?

>Hide in Wilma’s room! Why? Who knows?!
>Make your way to the roof and keep baiting them. Leave the entire establishment easy to traverse for Houda. He’s a professional thief, he can deal with kids.
>You have the feeling one of these rooms is Ophelia’s. Maybe try to find it by looking around.
>Turn around and wait for Sieb. You’ll confront him at the top of the stairs!

You continue with the heavy stomping onto the roof! You continue with your plan to lure everyone away from everything! But this time around you run fast! You won’t allow Sieb to catch you just yet!

The roof is like a small garden, there are some plantations almost everywhere but there’s a big empty space in the middle to maneuver around. There’s a solid grid everywhere to not let anyone fall down by accident. All in all, the best place you’ve seen in this Orphanage. You wonder if Sieb is the one maintaining it. Well, there are two people up here, a strange-looking girl and a shifty-looking guy – taking care of the plants. You assume both are orphans…

The guy is the first one to turn around and notice you.

“H-Huh? Ms. Ophelia is floating…?!” The guy gets all white upon seeing her on your shoulders.

“Floating?” The bizarre girl turns around, but she doesn’t seem bothered. “She’s being carried around.”

“What…?” The guy doesn’t understand what’s going on.

From the floor, right in front of you, the horrifying spirit of Ophelia shows up to confront you once again!

“Ms. Ophelia!” The Orphan girl gets the jitters!

“I-I told you she was there!” The guy puts himself in front to shield the girl.

“N-No, I mean—”

“Be quiet, kids.” Ophelia shushes the girl. “Intruder, please settle down and heed my words. Let’s start a meaningful conversation, shall we?”

You were expecting more people here, but you didn’t think they were on the roof of all places. And now, after all that has happened, Ophelia wants to talk? This is so fishy, Chio’d like it on a plate! Maybe entertaining her will do you some good, buying time is all you need but... You need to worry about your escape route.

What do you do?

>“I don’t negotiate with child traffickers.” Retort with sass.
>“I’m listening…” Play along.

that girl there clearly knows whats up

Along the same lines, she's clearly working some angle and need to buy time herself or else she wouldn't be trying to casually converse like this. We must discover what she's after ASAP before it bites us in the ass.

They're not really mutually exclusive. Same vibe in both option we're tied on.
